basketball player kyle and cheerleader reader … 😨😨😨
I hate you for rigging it Dino 🖕🖕
Next time I’m not adding Kyle to any polls. I despise you, YOU FUCKINF BLOODHOUND (affectionate… somewhat)
Basketball player!Kyle x cheerleader!reader
Tumblr media
• You probably got in cheerleading for him for the most part Tbh, not that Kyle knows. He keeps convincing himself it was to make your college application look good
• He definitely tries a lot harder when you’re there, I mean you and your team are doing all this for his team, might as well win right?
• Not to mention he feels like he has to be the best in everything he does. But honestly that more applies to academics
• Hot take, despite being built like basketball player he’s honestly not that good
• That man is a tall twig looking NERD with glasses and everything. He definitely tries though, and that counts doesn’t it?
• It takes Kyle a while to actually be good at playing because I don’t care what you hoes say, that man works!! He’s not just naturally good at everything he has FLAWS
• He put so much effort into it and it’s like, good for him!! Even if he did wanna give up a lot because he wasn’t immediately perfect at it
• You’re definitely thirsting over Kyle the entire game, and probably cheering extra loud for him
• I wouldn’t be surprised if he wore his glasses on the court and got distracted by you cheering for him one day, and accidentally broke his glasses
• Lesson learned, wear contacts 🙄
• Anyways, you’re totally simping over the sweaty nerd boy running on the court desperately trying to impress you. Spoiler alert, he does not. Somehow he wins your heart anyways?
• If you ask nicely, he’ll let you wear the varsity jacket he has for basketball because he honestly can’t really say no to you
• He’s honestly proud but horrendously embarrassed as you flaunt around his jacket
• I’m half sure it’s canon he’s a huge germaphobe and he’d rather get beat up by Cartman than give you his jersey right after a game, even if you beg
• He probably washes it at least twice before he even lets you touch it. He may be a very logical guy, but the germaphobe in him is stronger than any logic he has
• He’s somehow convinced that you would get sick if you wore his sweaty jersey, which honestly feels like nonsense but there’s just no reasoning with the guy when he’s being a germaphobe
• I feel like Kyle goes to the gym a lot, especially during off season and you probably end up tagging along
• Sometimes you exercise with him, sometimes you choose some random bench to fall asleep on because we all know he’d go to the gym at 5 in the morning
• He’s always trying to get you to play basketball too but sweetie, it really just ain’t in the cards. Mainly because you’re joking around and not really trying
• Internally, Kyle goes feral when he sees you in your cheer uniform. Well not JUST internally, def after his games too
I swear I wasn’t trying to insult him guys 😭😭

we want more giggles
Because you all have asked so nicely, here the continued adventures of Giggles and the rest of the Wayne family. Meeting Mama Harley and Auntie Ivy addition
It had been a couple weeks since little Giggles had come to live in Wayne Manor
Everyone enjoyed the new surge of life that came with having a four year old around. They even set up a schedule for who would stay behind at night to help Alfred with potential issues that would sudden appear
Bruce had set up a couple of appointments to make sure Giggles was on the right level of education for a child of that age
During the day, Jason would help with teaching letters since that was an easier thing for a toddler to process
For one hour each day, he would say one letter at a time and Giggles would have to write it on a whiteboard
It was near the end of one of those sessions when a knock sounded from the front door
Alfred went to get it, expecting one of the boys to have a delivery of some kind showing up
On the porch stood a very excited Harley Quinn and slightly calmer Poison Ivy
Harley clutches a brand new blanket as she eagerly asks if her baby was really alive and now living with the Wayne family
Alfred had a soft smile on his face as he encouraged both the women in. Telling them that Giggles had been settling in quite well with the whole family
Harley expresses her gratitude as she explains that she hadn't know that her child was alive for all this time because the Joker said they died immediately after the birth. She would never have allowed that kind of treatment to her 'sweetums' otherwise
Alfred listens intently as he lets her vent all the emotions she was feeling. Leading the women to the living room as Jason gave Giggles a pat on the head
Harley let out a sudden noise of excitement as she rushed over and scooped the toddler into her arms with a big smile. Placing kisses all over their face while rambling about how excited she was to see her baby
Jason watched as Harley put Giggles back down before unfolding the blanket on the couch for the kid to get a look at it
Harley encourages Giggles to feel it to make sure she picked one that was soft enough for her baby to enjoy using
Giggles looked confused at what Harley was saying as they wiped their cheeks where she had kissed them
It took a few more words of encouragement, but Giggles cautiously does feel the blanket before mumbling that it felt okay before going over to Jason
Harley's smile falls as she watched her baby go and seek comfort from someone else while she was right there
Ivy came over and sat beside Harley on the floor and asking if Giggles remember her and if they knew who Harley was to them
They got a small nod in response as Jason's neck became the hiding spot of Giggles' face
He asked what was the matter was since they knew Harley was their mom and he thought it would probably be a happier occasion to the little one
Tiny hands grabbed his shirt as he hears a small whisper that breaks his hear:
"He said mama didn't want me."
Jason gently shifts Giggles onto his laptop be able to look at Harley while stilll having the option to look away
He quickly assured Giggles that the Joker lied about Harley not wanting her child and that she was here because she wanted to be apart of their life now
Harley's shoulders slumped at what Jason said, quickly explaining that she had been told Giggles was sick and died after having given birth and she thought it was true
Ivy joined in by saying Harley was so happy hearing the news of Giggles being alive, she had already been making plans to potentially spend time together
It goes silent for a moment as Giggles continues to hold onto Jason with a quiet whine
Harley looks around the room for a second before noticing the Batman toy. She grinned as she grabbed it while saying that she was kinda sorta friends with Batman
Giggles perks up slightly while looking over at Harley with skeptical eyes at the news
Ivy noticing a shift in demeanor, eagerly adds that the two of them had many interactions with Batman over the years
Harley handed the toy over while saying that the Bat would be really honored to know such a unique child looked up to him
Giggles had a miniature grin while taking the toy back with a quiet 'no way'
Jason quickly joins in by saying he had seen all of them on the news together talking to one another
The child laughed while looking between all of them and saying they were just making it up
The three of them shared a smile while saying that they knew what they knew
Harley leaned a little closer while asking if there was anything that Giggles liked to do for fun
Soon they were all at the dining table with crayons and different pieces of paper as they each colored
Alfred came in with drinks for them all before asking what everyone would want for lunch
Harley quickly stands up while exclaiming that she could make everyone some mac and cheese (she might not have much experience with kids or cooking, but everyone loves mac and cheese)
Alfred tries to assure Harley that he can take care of making the food, but she was adamant with making it herself
After getting everything ready, Harley began making lunch with Alfred close by, just in case
In the dining room, Ivy smiles over at the child as they put the finishing touches on a butterfly drawing
She asked what Giggles thought of Harley so far. Giggles said that she was definitely nicer than the Joker had said
Ivy smiled while discreetly typing a quick message Joker, threatening to feed him to her plants for everything he said and did to this little ray of sunshine
After some time had passed, Harley and Alfred had come in with plates for everyone to eat (even one for Alfred, Harley insisted)
Giggles helped Jason move all the papers and crayons away before everyone started to eat
Giggles gave Harley a happy 'thank you' after eating a couple of spoonfuls
Harley felt proud of herself for making a good meal for her little one as she gently takes Ivy's hand
It goes quiet for a minute before Jason quietly suggests that maybe they could stay for dinner tonight
Harley begins to say she doesn't want to intrude and only wanted to check up on Giggles for the day
Alfred is the one to say that he would not allow the ladies to leave before that got to know how Giggles got along with the rest of the family
Ivy says that they would love to stay as they did have something they wanted to talk to Bruce about anyways
Alfred says that they would all appreciate having them for dinner and he would make sure to have enough food for everyone
Giggles gives a happy clap at the news before asking what they would want to do
Once everyone was finished with lunch, they went back to the living room
Jason picked up the book he was currently reading as he just sat close by while give Harley and Ivy the ability to bond with Giggles
Harley, trying to get a small of understanding of what all her child liked, asked if they wanted to watch a movie or if there was a favorite show that was on
Jason quickly said that Scooby-Doo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Bluey were a couple of favorites (there's just something about talking dogs)
Ivy quickly switched on Courage because it was the first one that she found when searching
The show plays on as Giggles sat beside Harley, who was gently running her fingers through her child's hair
Ivy was on the other side of Giggles as her arm rested on the back of the couch as she smiled at the two of them
The show continues to play on as Giggles starts to lean into Harley's side with a small yawn
Ivy lowers the volume on the TV a little as Harley began to move to lay down with Giggles in her arms
Harley gets the blanket that she brought and places it over the both of them
It doesn't take long for Giggles to fall asleep for a nap as the show continues to play in the background
Jason begins to flip the page of his book as he says they can change the show if they wanted. He did it all the time with some crime show that you also seemed interested in when it was on
While Courage was not the worse show for a kid to like, they didn't have to be told twice before changing to a different show
Harley placed a soft kiss to Giggles head as she continued laying down on the cushions
Ivy ran her fingers through Harley's hair with a smile at the whole situation they were in
It didn't take long for Tim and Damian to come home from school as they took off their shoes
Tim went to get a snack from the kitchen before going to the living room to work on a couple of assignments that he had
He started working on his papers before lifting his head in confusion as he looked over at the couch. He barely even registered the two villains as he walked over to the coffee table
Damian walked in as he looked at all of them. Shaking his head as he went to go check on his animals while muttering about Alfred getting his own collection
Tim, still mildly confused, went back to doing his homework. If Jason wasn't concerned about them being here, it probably wasn't a big deal
Giggles begins to slowly stir in Harley's arms as they slowly wake up. When their eyes open, a huff escapes them while still laying down
Harley reluctantly sits up and stretched her back. When she was done, she rests her head on Ivy's shoulder while brushing back Giggles hair
The child soon sat up and looked around the room. After seeing Tim sitting on the ground, quickly looking around again
"Where's Dami?"
"He's out in the barn, kiddo. He'll come back in soon."
Giggles gave a small whine at that, but didn't push the subject. None of the family allowed them out in the barn, saying it would be best when Giggles was older
Ivy was about to change the channel, but stopped when she noticed Giggles paying extreme attention to the screen. Even more than when the cartoon was on earlier
The show continues to play on with no interruptions when Damian comes walking back in from the barn
He sits down on the far end of the couch as he looks over at the group with a critical eye. Wondering if there was potentially a trap that would come with them being there
(He barely admits caring, but that kid doesn't need to go through anything else they didn't deserve)
When a commercial break had come along, Giggles looked over at Damian with a grin
Going over to his side of the couch, the toddler just stared at him while waiting for something
Damian didn't even look as he reachs a hand out and rests it on Giggles' forehead. Shaking his hand around gently before pushing the toddler backwards on the cushions with a smirk
Harley almost gets upset until the sound of laughter fills the room as Giggles gets back up to face Damian again
He softly says no as his focused on the screen. But the drawn out 'please' caused him to repeat the actions one more time before saying it was the last time
Tim snorts at that as he puts away the homework he had. Carefully putting them away in his bag before standing up with a quiet groan as he begins walking towards the kitchen
"Alfred's currently in there. He won't let you walk out with any form of caffeine this late in the day."
Tim stops short as Jason closes his book. The smirk on his face irritating Tim further as he sits on the couch near Ivy
Giggles quickly got off and went to the kitchen. Coming back with an armful of juice boxes
Going over to Tim first, Giggles hands out the juice boxes to everyone before settling in beside Harley again
Tim grins over at Jason with a raised brow before starting to drink from his box
Everyone watched the show in peaceful some time until the front door opened. Both Dick and Bruce arriving back to the manor at the same time that day
Harley and Ivy perk up at the sound of the men coming into the manor. The two sharing a glance before looking back at Giggles with concern
With the routine that the family formed after Giggles came to them, Dick immediately went to the living room to do his self appointed oldest brother duties (surprise uppies, cuddle times, and sibling gossip)
Dick stops in his tracks for a moment when he sees the two women sitting on the couch. They look back and make eye contact with him
It lasts a few seconds before he gives them a smile before reaching over the couch and lifting Giggles up
The child laughs as Dick lightly spins around before moving to sit down himself
Bruce comes walking in a little after Dick with a deep breath. Not completely surprised by the fact Harley was there. He was most shocked it took her this long to finally come over
When she noticed Bruce come into the area, Harley held Ivy's hand as the two stood up. Both of them going over to him as they expressed their gratitude for him taking in the little one
Ivy quietly said that their was something that they did want to talk about in private if he was willing to hear them out
He gave a quick nod as he guided the two to his study so all the children wouldn't overhear whatever was going to be said
When he closed the door, he fully expected to have to argue that he wasn't going to just hand Giggles over to Harley entirely
She might be the mother, but he couldn't fully deny that the situation could end up bad with everyone no matter how hard anyone tired
"Could we have Giggles stay over a couple of weekends every month?"
The confusion was clear on his face as Harley's words sink in. He blinks at the women for a moment before asking them to explain
Harley calmly says that while she does love the fact her child was alive, she knew she might not be able to provide the best life for said child
Instead, she wanted to be apart of their life and also help out with giving the family a few breaks during the month while getting to spend time with Giggles
Bruce thought about it for a moment, realizing that it wasn't that extreme of a request given the circumstances
He agreed that he was alright with it, but it would ultimately be up to Giggles to decide if they wanted to go over
Harley and Ivy quickly agree that it was okay with them to do it that way. And even if Giggles didn't want to stay the night, they would be willing to do day visits if that was the limit
They all left the study before going back to the living room
Giggles wiggled out of Dick's hold when Bruce came walking into the room again. Going up to him and giving him a hug while looking up at him with a smile
Bruce gently returns the hug as Harley kneel to the ground while asking if Giggles would want to maybe spend a couple of days every now and then with her and Ivy
Giggles thinks for a moment before giving a small nod and saying that it sounds like fun
Harley let out a laugh in relief while tightly holding Ivy's hand
The boys all stare for a moment as they watch the scene in front of them
Alfred came walking in while saying that dinner was about to be ready so everyone could go and get themselves settled at the table
The whole group goes into the dining room and take a moment to figure out the seating arrangement with the two extras joining them
Once everyone was settled, Alfred came in and set down plates in front of everyone
Conversation was light as the meal progressed. Mostly consisting of how the day went and of any upcoming events that would be occuring at school
The meal seemed to pass by too soon as Harley and Ivy said that they would need to leave soon
Giggles gave a small pout, but gave a small nod in understanding
Bruce began to see them off while exchanging information so they could all get in contact for custody swaps
As Harley and Ivy were about to leave, Giggles came running up with the butterfly drawing in hand
Giving it to Harley with a smile while saying she could keep it
Harley gratefully took it while leaning down to place one last kiss to Giggles head before saying a last goodbye for the night
"Bye bye, Aunt Ivy! Bye bye, mama!"
Harley has to turn away as she holds back tear because she was just called 'mama' for the first time. Ivy holds her close as they begin to go back to their apartment
Bruce closes the door while picking Giggles up, smiling at the child while walking back into the manor
"Mama's nice. She did want me."
Bruce has to keep his expression neutral as the child continues rambling. Dear God, he was going to beat that clown within an inch of his life

Someone sent this ask to a blogger I like and they didn't bite, so I WILL
Gotham dream blunt rotation as rated:
Poison Ivy might seem an obvious choice at first, but she swears she can still hear the plant screaming inside your blunt, so if she isn't already hitting you dead the vibe has been killed: 3/10
Catwoman would steal all your weed and wrap a tighter blunt then you can imagine she would bring out wine spritzers and cheeses as the snack so it's fun but you will have to go buy a new ⅛ as soon as you leave, you will be starting to crush on her but she will talk about batman the whole time: 7/10
Harley Quinn would make those crazy ass joints that are like spider shaped and she would get toasted but youd get so couchlocked it'd be like a million years passed when you come to she's smoking a second spider and you have hyena drool on you: 5/10
Kite Man rips huge beefy clouds of smoke, spends half his evil plan budget on buying a gravity bong, has a shitty hideout in his parents basement, but his mom is really nice and can out-rip her son and she would bring some apple slices and water down for snacking: 6/10
Two-Face would have been a total weenie as Harvey pre accident and never touched the stuff, but after he will occasionally light up because he enjoys how both of his sides will shut up and he can think for a second. Doesn't care if it's shitty buds or premo flower it's whatever the nearest lackey has so you will be hacking up a lung either way. Spends the whole time telling you to be quiet when you try to chat: 4/10
Bruce would suck the only people he might be good in a rotation is wonder woman and superman, anyone else he is just silent the whole time and ignoring everyone to look at his phone, will sometimes double and triple hit before passing: 3/10
Stephanie stole her dad's weed as a teenager and is really bad at rolling blunts, but if you tease her, she will finger taze you, would have a whole set-up for a rotation set up with pillows and candles and bowls of chips, she either gets very mellow or gets really wild so it's a flip for if you're going to watch pirated movies or go roam the aisles of walmart: 8/10
Tim would act like a weed conneisur since Stephanie lit him up, but he'd be the type of guy you could give a weed a fancy name and sell it for $50 extra and he wouldn't even blink, rarely rotates but if he does he is punctual and never double hits, will ramble on and on about computer specs and graphic cards, will give you the last hit even though he wants it: 6/10 but only because sometimes Tim gets weird vibes
Alfred hits weed made for elephants its so strong he does it for muscle and joint pain at night so he won't share ever and if you ask he will act like he has no idea what you're talking about, if somehow you can get him to share it will be in the form of a weed cookie and when I tell you they're strong you will be seeing god: 0/10 or 7/10 depending
Jason tried marijuana but didn't like how it made his head feel and his hands shake and he could barely read so it pisses him off. If the blunt in question was a joint made of more tobacco than weed than he might sit in, but otherwise he is video taping other people being fools for future blackmail: 2/10
Dick smoked major weed with the Teen Titans when they were all a team the first time, he has exquisite taste but won't overpay but gets solid middle of the road shit everytime so you won't be ass blasted, but you will be laughing more which is why he loves rotations the communal act of passing, leaning in close to people, everyone getting loose and happier, he loves it and will totally make everyone custom snack plates: 10/10
Cass would try it with Steph or Dick, but she wouldn't like it in the end, would be a big fan of edibles though she'd like the floatiness and using it for sleep: 0/10 but not for lack of effort

It’s okay, rambles are fun to read. Anything that talks about a character I like is inherently entertaining by default.
I just realized how much I’ve been sending you asks, I apologize. This is way more than I planned but it’s just really fun.
That’s true too, about like the older guardians. I recognized that they’re harder to talk about like we do with the strilonde Guardians, so general thoughts about them are cool too!
It’s very sweet how much Alpha Rose cares for her brother :)
Mom and Bro are my favorite subjects, mainly because their history is so unavailable. It’s just pure speculation. We get hints of it with Mom because she works for Skaianet but Bro? What the fuck is his deal?
We can say the same thing for Alpha Dave and Rose and we can just assume they had a similar upbringing in some ways, but that just brings us back to “what was up with you guys??”
Okay, it’s Mom and Bro time because ofc I have to ask about them again. Still pretty interested in that traveling stuff that’s been hinted in your fic.
Also, I just reread some of the Bro POV chapters and I love when they hug. This one person I was talking to jokingly described them as the unstoppable force and immovable object. I thought it was the cutest shit ever. I just wanted to share that.
Hello sorry I put off answering this because I've been busy BUT
yes, alpha rose and dave are stupid codependent and it is tragic and silly but they'll be okay. one day.
but who cares about them (me) MOM AND BRO AM I RIGHT OR AM I RIGHT?????????????????????????
(RNG canon stuff obviously) I feel like it would be spoiling what i call the (well i call it by my name but for simplicity we'll say my url) deserts cinematic fic universe where i just. have connecting plot points between all my works for no goddamn reason BUT
Basically the little headcanon is that Mom and Bro were on their own in their respective Places (New York, Houston) for the first thirteen years of their lives. Canon to the Skaianet logs (once again, cringe and bad but like, works for me thematically), Harley set them both up with financials, but we'll assume they didn't have real access to them. I like to think it was Nanna who eventually couldn't fucking take how badly these two little punks were doing anymore and insisted on intervening. Bro was up to some. Not good shit lol it involved swords. Mom was just being a brat somewhere
ANYWAY due to the obligations of the session and timeline they couldn't KEEP them (nanna had a husband and son and a job to do after all and harley is. well. harley) but they did a lot of VISITING, mostly flying to washington to stay with nanna for the summers, and sometimes bro would even get flown to new york if harley was in town. grandpa let roxy visit the island (once) but never bro. go fucking figure (though if hiveswap is to be believed he did have a creepy old house in the woods too LOL). it came to a head when they were 16, and nanna and grandpa decided they were old enough to be sat down and told about The Stuff (though in my world guardians always kind of Know though whether that comes with age or not, who is to say, but like, u know, basically laying out the feeling for them into a concrete idea.
Bro already knew that all, ofc
grandpa tells mom that she's gonna be getting the house and stuff and then she and bro get into a fight abt it bc he loves her but he's so horribly bitter and jealous and already knows he's going to die yes i guess this is spoillies but whatever, and anyway that is how they like, friend breakup. Bro goes back to doing his fucked up sword thing, Mom waits for the house to be built.
once the house is built she invites bro back to new york but he's Different Now in a way she can't explain and it's so obvious his heart is all closed off and he just. sucks!!! god that guy sucks but i love him
ANYWAY YES they used to spend summers in different places but always houston, wa, or new york and stuff together! and they'd share a suitcase bc mom would constantly lose hers, so bro would always underpack so he conveniently had room for her.
anyway they love each other but have deeply hurt each other
razzle dazzle

relationship ramble:
reminiscing & romanticising
i’ve been single now for a good 5/6 months now and it’s really hitting me how new to this i am. i was half seeing someone who i had to end things with because of how busy i am and yet even when i am so busy i still crave that soft domestic love to come home too. this is where i start romanticising my relationship with T and how simple it was, and quickly remind myself how yes, i did have that cosy settled love, but i did also cry myself to sleep next to her many many times because of how she made me feel so realistically i probably shouldn’t be reminiscing. it’s hard not to but i know that it’s because i feel like i’m missing something so trying to figure out what that is. ultimately i think it’s a distraction i’m missing. i’m so used to pouring into someone else, when i have love within me and nowhere to put it i feel abit lost. i definitely need to learn how to pour into myself the way i did for others. going to therapy is helping. it’s definitely making things worse before they get better. i’m just noticing how much i’ve not been dealing with outside of anything romantic and ultimately i don’t think i’m ready to share any of that with someone. i don’t think i ever was. well that’s probably not true. i would’ve shared it with T, but there wasn’t space for that and honestly i don’t think i even realised i had things i needed to work through. harley’s back with callum and everyone’s making jokes about going back with exs, so it’s been a thought as to what that would look like.
E - such different people back then let alone now and the whole SA thing would probably be a massive trigger so maybe not
S - absolutely not, v mean and the biggest superiority complex you’ve ever seen
G - ultimately a disappointment, stoner loser type so no ambition/drive, good in bed though tbf
T - difficult to imagine tbh, when she wanted to be there for me i couldn’t fault her, but i don’t think she was ready for me to be an individual person and grow together in that way, maybe things would be different now meeting her as individuals and then growing together instead of being so young, but i also think she genuinely believes that she didn’t do anything wrong and her moms the worst fucking person in the world so yeah maybe not.
i do wonder what love is next. i don’t think i’m ready for anything because i don’t think i could let someone in now realistically. i don’t think i have it in me to trust someone like that anytime soon, maybe ever. but i’m way too young to be that cynical so let’s just get to christmas and review.

Harley’s Plea for Help: Chapter 2
Chapter 1
“How long do you think it’s gonna take before she decides to sneak out?” Nightwing asked over his comms, lazily leaning against the balcony railing in front of him with his head resting on one hand.
“Dude, I started sneaking out almost twenty minutes ago,” a girl’s voice made Nightwing squeak and turn around, to reveal a teenage girl leaning against the door that led to the balcony he was on. “I didn’t want to draw attention to myself by doing unnecessarily showy gymnastics down from my hotel room’s balcony, no matter how much fun that would be, so I just snuck out one of the hotel’s back exits. Then I looked up to admire the moon and saw you here, staking out what is clearly my suite, and decided to come pay you a visit.”
“How long have you been there? And how did you even get behind me? I hope you didn’t break and enter, that’s an actual lived-in apartment behind us right now,” Nightwing asked, turning around to analyze the daughter of Harley Quinn for the first time in person.
She looked just like in her pictures, of course. Jet black hair like her father’s, except it seemed to have a bluish shine in the light. And her eyes were definitely Harley’s— thank goodness for that —vibrant blue and clearly analyzing him with the same amount of intensity as his did her. He had to bite back a chuckle. In a turn of complete irony, she really did look like a Wayne kid. Fit all of Bruce’s usual criteria to be adopted. But she was tiny, even smaller than Harley’s lithe form. He, Bruce, and Tim were of the hypothesis that the exposure both her parents had to Ace Chemical’s vats of acid likely had an effect on her DNA that stunted her growth. Perhaps there were other effects that they wouldn’t be able to figure out until they got to know her better, too, though it was clear that her skin was a likely one. It wasn’t unnaturally pale like her parent’s after their acid dips but it was paler than normal for sure, just a shade or two shy of being paper white.
And he could see, now, what Harley meant when she referred to Marinette as a powerhouse. It wasn’t very noticeable in pictures, but up close Dick could see the carefully honed muscle of an acrobat curling over her otherwise slim build. Combined with the knowledge that Marinette had been taught at least some serious self defense from a young age, he could see how such a tiny package could be a remarkable threat when necessary.
Marinette grimaced as the other Batfam, who were all nearby staking out her room from different angles, dropped onto the large balcony with them.
“Uh, well. I didn’t break and enter, I rather not get off to a criminal-ly start on my first night in Gotham, you know? But I realized that even though I was able to figure out the exact room you were staking me out from, I realized as soon as I got into the first floor of the building that I had no idea how to actually get to you. So I just climbed the stairs all the way to the roof and scaled my way down to this balcony, and pretended I’ve been here for a while when really I was barely able to hear you ask when I was gonna sneak out. I’m still out of breath, actually,” she put a hand on her chest and sure enough her breathing was still slightly fast. But not enough to be worrying or even all that noticeable. Yet another piece of evidence to show that she was a very active individual and had resistance built up to physical activity.
“Yup,” Robin groused grumpily, crossing his arms. “With all that rambling, you couldn’t be anyone else’s child but Quinzel’s.”
Marinette’s face immediately flushed pink all the way to her ears. “I’m sorry! I’ve been trying so hard to quit that habit, too!” She grumbled a bit to herself, putting her face in her hands. They all chuckled at the display. Red Hood ambled over, draping his arm over her shoulders (he nearly had to bend in half to do it, the height difference was that bad).
“As adorable as your freak out is, why’d you even come up here anyway? There’s no way you’d scale down a ten-story building just to say hello.”
She let out a heavy sigh at that, slowly peeling her face out of her hands. “Yeah, I recognized you guys right away. And honestly, as much as Momma Harley would be super proud of me for managing to give an entire group of vigilantes the slip, she’d also ground me for life if she found out that I saw you guys and still snuck away even though she probably swallowed her pride and asked you guys to babysit me, right? Self preservation. Contrary to popular belief, I do actually have some.”
“Wait,” Red Robin held up a hand, brows clearly furrowed under his cowl. “You expected her to ask for our help?”
“Well,” she made a so-so motion with her hand. “I didn’t think of it beforehand, but it all clicked once I saw Nightwing. I know how much my mom is worried about me, especially since you-know-who broke out a few days ago. She is more than worried enough to ask you guys for help. Even if she does complain about you guys, a lot actually, she also has made it clear that she trusts you guys with the stuff that actually matters.
“‘You know who’?” Batman repeated, arms crossed. If Marinette squinted, she thought there might have been a grin on his lips. “Is that how you always refer to him?”
“What else am I gonna call him?” she asked, face going deadpan. “Sperm donor? Source of a large amount of my self doubt and depreciation? The prime reason I haven’t been able to see my mom in person more often over the years? Oh, I know! How about I just always refer to him as ‘that bastard I wanna punch,’? That sounds good!” she rolled her eyes sarcastically. “Only one person in this world has the right to be considered my father in any capacity, and it sure as hell isn’t him. Genetics notwithstanding.”
Red Hood straight up guffawed at that, landing several rough pats on her back that made the girl stumble a bit. “Yep, I like this one! But as fun as it would be to see you give that jackass a mean left hook, it’s better if he never finds out who you are or knows that you’re here,” the vigilante’s voice got dark and serious very quickly. “He doesn’t forget people he finds interesting easily, and if he ever finds out about the connection you have to him, he’ll be a constant threat in your life.”
“I know,” Marinette agreed with a nod. “And if this conversation was happening two years ago, I’d say that my mom’s concerns aren’t unfounded. That I am too easily emotionally compromised and despite my deep seated issues and hatred for that man, I couldn’t guarantee he would be unable to get to me.”
Batman straightened up, as did all of his sons around him. None of them had missed the ‘if’ there. Batman’s voice went from charmingly deep to it’s usual gruff grumble. “What changed in two years?”
They all watched as Marinette gulped, taking a deep breath as she stalled for time, looking out at the view on the balcony before seeming to steel herself and return her gaze to Batman’s. When she did, it was suddenly full of iron will.
“I didn’t lie when I told Mom that I came to visit her— but that isn’t the whole truth, either. If I just wanted to visit her in Gotham, I would have waited until I was eighteen like we agreed. But I can’t wait, Paris can’t keep going on like this. I entered that contest because it was the fastest way to see you. I didn’t know if I would win, but… I had to take the chance. There was no way I’d be able to get to Gotham behind my mom’s back otherwise.”
“What are you talking about?” Robin hissed, stepping up to his father’s side. “Paris has been silent. If anything were happening, we would have heard about it by now.”
“No, you wouldn’t,” Marinette corrected, never losing that ironclad look in her eyes. “Because a combination of magic and politics is keeping it quiet. No news about Paris’ situation is able to leave the city limits. Magic makes any non-native who leaves Paris think that everything they experienced was just a crazy dream. Natives won’t forget, but politics has all of us under very strict NDAs if we leave city boundaries, and all of our local news and social media is blocked from being accessed by anyone outside the city. But, I figured a little breaking of the rules wouldn’t exactly put a stain on my family’s reputation or anything, so,” she dug in her pocket and pulled out a thumb drive, holding it up for all of them to see. She swallowed again, but never stopped her eye contact with Batman. She held out the thumb drive.
“I came to Gotham to ask for your help. This sped things up, I didn’t expect to see you on my first night here, but two years in Hawkmoth’s Paris has really taught me how to roll with the punches. This,” she shook the thumb drive. “Holds videos of every fight since HawkMoth first showed up. It has all the information I’ve gathered over two years, tracks his movements and lists all his targets and— everything. But I’m not a detective, I’m a designer. I make clothes, I spar on the weekends, I am not good at getting evidence to prove that someone is a magic-abusing villain holding an entire city hostage.”
“We’re gonna need some details, Little Q,” Red Hood finally removes his arm from around her shoulders, instead crossing his arms and looking down at her sternly. “If your city has a villain holding it hostage, is anyone fighting him? And if you do have someone fighting him, why don’t you need our help, or why didn’t they call the Justice League? The JLE should be in Paris, right?”
Marinette snorted, face scrunching up in obvious distaste. “I’ll have to answer those a little out of order. First; the JLE was kicked out of Paris. They moved their headquarters to Italy about five years ago, I’m just surprised they apparently kept that secret from you,” she gestured to all of them, who indeed seemed very caught off guard by that tidbit. But Marinette just sighed and continued. “Though that’s a good thing, actually. We do have heroes, it started out as just a pair but it’s grown into a small team out of necessity. They didn’t call the Justice League because the last thing we need is any powered heroes coming in and making it worse— your league doesn’t have the best reputation for letting newer heroes take the lead even on their home turf, you know,” she pointed out, which made Batman shift a bit guiltily. He knew the JL was often a bit… heavy handed in their methods.
“What makes the situation so bad that you don’t want to bring experienced heroes into it?” Red Robin cut in, sounding as if the whole situation was a puzzle he was determined to sort out. Which, really, was exactly what Marinette had been counting on. She shot him a finger gun, grinning.
“That’s exactly the point! Hawkmoth uses a magical artifact, like I said— but this artifact can brainwash anybody who experiences even the slightest negative emotion. Sadness, anger, fear— anything negative. And it gives them powers, but puts them largely under his influence,” her expression twisted again, this time into a wry little grimace. “I guess you can say that my momma’s psychiatry background has secretly come in handy a lot over these past two years. And Hawkmoth is exactly why I try to tell Momma Harley to stop visiting me— I have worked my butt off to keep her from finding out about his attacks or getting Akumatized. Every time she shows up it gives me a heart attack!”
“Akumatized?”
Marinette waved a hand dismissively. “It’s the term used for when someone is turned into a super powered villain because of HawkMoth. The brainwashing— really it’s more similar to a straight up corruption. The person usually lacks their usual moral compass, and just seeks to soothe whatever set off their negative emotion in the first place. Usually, that means they seek a bloody revenge. And if someone who already has extensive training or extremely strong powers gets Akumatized, guess what?” She made jazz hands even though her face was deadpan. “Extra powers, or amplified ones, for the metas or superheroes who are Akumatized. And imagine what someone with, say, Batman’s level of experience could do if he had powers and no moral compass,” the silence that followed her words was deafening. She just nodded, knowing she had gotten her point across. “I’ve been working my butt off to stay positive, because if I’m Akumatized…” her shoulders fell, and she had to swallow a lump in her throat. “... I have no idea what I’d turn into, but if you take into consideration both my training and my family history… it’s really best if we never find out what kind of magic-powered supervillain I’d make.”
“So, let me get this straight,” Nightwing said after another long moment of silence for that to all sink in. He gestured at her with an open palm. “You’ve been dealing with a terrorist for two years who targets emotional vulnerability, you apparently have never been corrupted by this magic at least to present day, but your mother still worries about you being very emotionally fragile. And your heroes are not detectives, which is clearly what you need or you wouldn’t have asked us for our help.”
Marinette nodded. “I used to be very impressionable. At the start of all this, I was a huge people-pleaser. I got attached to new people in a matter of minutes. My mom always said I reminded her too much of herself— but two years of fighting off a guy trying to get into my head—“
“Wait,” Batman nearly barked, taking a step forward. “He’s been targeting you? You specifically?”
Marinette nodded grimly, mouth a straight line. “Not from the beginning, but this past year it’s been painfully obvious. He might be able to sense the strength of people’s emotions, and unfortunately I don’t exactly experience my emotions very… gently. All of my emotions tend to the much more intense side of the spectrum. If that’s true, then he might know that any negative emotion I feel will make an extremely strong Akuma. Either that, or he’s going by process of elimination. All of my friends, except for one, have been Akumatized already. So has my Papan and my grandmother. But it’s obvious when he’s targeting someone, I’ve felt him try to override my will on several occasions. But I can’t just repress all of my negative emotions forever, so consider us working against the clock right now. That thumb drive has all the details you need about our heroes, how exactly Hawkmoth’s powers work, and so on.”
“Do your heroes know you’re asking for our help?” Red Robin asked, gaze burning a figurative hole through Marinette’s face. “Better yet, if this drive has as much information as you say it does, how did you get it?”
Marinette handed the drive over to Batman, who finally took it and tucked it in his belt as she answered.
“Momma Harley might have a lot to say about your detective skills, but you are all still strangers to me. So consider this a test of your abilities— I expect that you will all go to extreme lengths to verify all of the information I gave you anyway. After all, I’m still the daughter of your most hated enemy. Right?” She met each of their gazes, one by one, with a challenging one of her own. “You’ll just have to figure out my connection to the heroes on your own. And how I got the information, too. It shouldn’t be too hard for the so-called world’s greatest detectives. And maybe this can double as a trust exercise. I fully expect you guys to scour through every inch of my past, and dig up everything you can on me. I encourage you to try to find everything you can, so that hopefully you can decide to trust me on your own once you have all the details laid out in front of you. By the way, for your own sanity? I’d start with reading about all of our heroes’ powers and abilities before you watch any footage of past attacks.”
Red hood rocked back on his heels, trading glances with the other vigilantes before they all shared a nod. Apparently having decided their course of action, Red Hood leaned down and hoisted Marinette up into a princess carry. All traces of her previous iron will melted away in favor of the high pitched squeal of surprise she gave, and once more she became an overly flustered teenager.
“Alright, little cutie. Let’s get you to your mom’s place before she and her crazy plant lady fiancé come hunting us down.”
“I can walk! I can freerun on my own! Mon dieu please let me down! Eeeeek!” She squealed again as Robin slapped a domino mask over her eyes and Red Hood wasted no time jumping over the balcony railing with her still in his arms. The fact that they were lowered down by a wire wrapped around Hood’s waist didn’t seem to take away any of the fright that came with a sudden drop over an eighth-story balcony.

Taking Chances Ch. 30: Making Choices (Home)
AO3
Prev
*see note at end*
Marinette grins as the car pulls up in front of the manor. They were finally home. She snorts as Tim practically barrels out of the car, launching himself onto the grass.
"Land!" Tim yells, his cheek against the grass.
"Get your dramatic ass up and grab your suitcase." Jason yells, climbing out of the car. Tim groans, but gets up. Marinette gets out of the car and stretches, relieved to finally be out of the car. They hadn’t stopped as many times on the way home, it was super clear that her dad was (finally) having regrets on the whole road trip thing. Not that she blamed him though. As much as she loved Jay and Damian, she didn't know if she could do another car ride like that with them. Like, ever. She glances over at Selina and grins. Walking over to her, she leans up against her and lets out a soft sigh.
“Hey kitten.” Selina says, kissing the top of her head. Marinette just grins at her, not bothering to say anything. “Happy to be home?” Selina asks, and Marinette nods, almost surprised at how true that is. Looking around at her brothers, and thinking about the possibility of not seeing them all the time, her thoughts go back to when her Maman and Papa were in town two weeks ago.
“I think I made a decision.” She says quietly, grinning at the slightly confused look on Selina’s face. “I wanna go to Gotham Academy.” She says. She giggles as Selina squeals.
“Harley is going to flip!” She cheers, immediately catching everyone else’s attention. She rolls her eyes. “In a good way, she’s reformed. You know this.”
“Yeah, guys, have some faith in her.” Marinette adds with a small frown. She understood that they were a little weary, but honestly, Harley was a better person than some of the superheroes she’d known.
“Care to share why Miss Quinn is going to be so excited?” Damian asks, crossing his arms. Marinette hums, looking at her bonus mom with a quirked eyebrow as a silent question. Do we say something now? Or do we keep them hanging? Selina just smirks, her face clearly saying ‘let me handle this one’.
“She’s about to get some fantastic news about one of her favorite girls.” Selina says, and Dick squeals, making Marinette jump in surprise.
“You’re pregnant!” He cheers, grinning widely at Selina. Marinette chokes, Damian gasps, Jason starts rambling about how he told them to use protection, and Tim just looks lost.
“You’re pregnant?” Her dad asks, eyes wide.
“No, I’m not pregnant! Where did that even come from, Richard?” Selina asks, crossing her arms and glaring at Dick.
“You said that Harley’s gonna get good news about one of her favorite girls! You’re one of her favorite girls, and she already knows you’re engaged. That’s the only other thing I could think of.” Dick says with a pout.
“I’m not her only favorite girl.” Selina points out, and suddenly Marinette is being held tightly in someone’s arms.
“Pixie Pop is staying!” Jason cheers, holding her tightly. Marinette just grins, surprised he put two and two together that quickly. She moves, or tries to move. She struggles for another minute, trying to get Jason to let her down. Finally, as it gets harder to breathe, she huffs.
“Jay, can’t- breathe-” She gasps out, unable to even hug her brother back since he’s practically pinned her arms to her sides. He drops her, instead moving to have an arm thrown over her shoulders.
“Are you really staying?” Damian asks, his face unreadable. Marinette nods, and Damian honest to god smiles. It’s small, and it doesn’t last long, but it was still there. “I am glad to hear that.” He says.
“Have you talked to Tom and Sabine?” Her dad asks suddenly, and Marinette shakes her head.
“Not about staying here, not since you first brought it up. I didn’t even realize I already knew what I’d pick until I looked around at everyone and realized I’m home. I can’t just leave everyone. And it’s not like I have to say bye to Maman and Papa, they’ll still be there.” Marinette explains, and her dad nods.
“Well, I’m very glad you’ve decided to stay. I’ll get started on the transfer paperwork after you’ve spoken to your parents.” He says, walking over and kissing the top of her head. Marinette just grins. Look out Gotham, Marinette Wayne was here to stay.
---
Selina is walking through the halls of the manor when the screaming starts. Her heart drops when she realizes it’s coming from Marinette’s room. Running straight there, she rushes through the already open door to see Dick holding Marinette close, patting her hair and whispering to her. Taking a quick breath once she’s reassured herself that everyone’s fine, Selina walks over and sits next to them on the bed. Marinette must feel the weight shift, because she looks up and makes eye contact with her before launching herself at her, clutching onto her for dear life.
“Hey kitten, it’s okay, I’m here. I’m here, honey.” She says softly, holding onto the girl tightly. She raises an eyebrow at Dick, silently asking him to explain. He glances at the girl in her arms before he sighs.
“She gets bad nightmares, sometimes. Think it’s worse when she finally forces herself to sleep after being awake for days.” He says, the last part slightly louder as if he’s trying to lecture the shaking girl. Selina narrows her eyes at him and is about to scold him, when Marinette speaks up.
“Maybe I wouldn’t be awake for days if Hawkmoth could learn to be an evil prick on my schedule instead of his.” She says flatly. Selina’s eyes widen, and she sees Dick’s do as well.
“Uh, since when did you talk like that?” Dick asks. Marinette huffs.
“Since I spend most of my time with Jay. But don’t yell at him. Unless you’re gonna yell at me, then yell at him instead please.” She mutters, making Selina snort.
“You, my darling, are a mess.” Selina declares, kissing the top of her daughter’s head. Because legal titles be damned, this girl was her daughter.
“Yeah, yeah. I’d say I learned from the best, but I honestly think it’s a genetic trait.” She snarks back, and this time Dick is the one unable to catch his breath because of laughter.
“Oh kid, I’d pay money for B to have heard that.” He finally says, wiping the tears from his eyes.
“He dresses as a giant bat, Dick, I think he knows he’s a mess.” Marinette whispers, pulling out of Selina’s arms and opting instead to lay her head on Selina’s arm.
“And on that note, do you need anything kiddo?” Dick asks. Marinette shakes her head.
“No, I’m fine. Sorry.” She says, and Dick frowns.
“Don’t apologize for having nightmares. You’re fifteen and you’ve died, almost died, and seen an apocalypse. You’re allowed to have bad dreams.” He says and Selina tenses. She hadn’t known any of that. She supposed the death thing gave her a little context as to why Bruce was so unwilling to let the girl go on patrol. She shakes her head quickly to clear it. She could talk to Bruce about this later, right now she was going to do whatever Marinette needed her to do.
“I-” Marinette starts, then stops, sighing deeply and looking way too old. Selina grits her teeth, anger shooting through her. How dare that old man put all of this pressure on her shoulders. Yes, her daughter was a damn good hero, but she shouldn’t have to be. She was a child, not a soldier. Her eyes shouldn’t look so haunted. She shouldn’t have to have nightmares like this. Shouldn’t have PTSD from past battles. She’s so busy thinking of ways to find the old man and piss him off, that the sudden arms around her startle her. She blinks, glancing down at Marinette who was attached to her again.
“What’s up buttercup?” She asks, forcing a smile on her face.
“I’m okay, I promise.” Marinette says, as if she’d been able to hear the scathing thoughts running through Selina’s mind. She just sighs and squeezes the girl quickly.
“I know honey.” She says. And she was okay, and she would stay okay. Because Selina was going to make Bruce hurry the hell up with the damn butterfly problem.
---
“It’s Gabriel Agreste.” Tim says suddenly, and Marinette looks from the bowl of rice she had been trying to pass him, to Tim, and then back to the rice.
“Er, no. It’s rice?” She says, frowning. Tim purses his lips, and suddenly she realizes that he hadn’t meant to share that particular thought. She quickly runs scenarios through her head before her blood runs cold. She sets the bowl down, her hands shaking too much to hold onto anything.
“Hey Mars, look at me, breathe.” Tim instructs, Marinette glances around at the other faces at the table, not registering any of their own emotions, too busy drowning in hers.
“He can’t. It can’t.” She says, shaking her head violently.
“I know it looks bad Mars, but it’s true. I have proof and-”
“I said it in the beginning.” The entire room freezes and she can feel the tension her words create. Everyone is looking at her, looking for an explanation. “He had a book on the Miraculous. I told Chat Noir that I thought it was Gabriel, and he denied it. He was so angry, that was our first big argument. And then, the next day, Gabriel was akumatized. So Chat was convinced it couldn’t be him anymore and something felt wrong, off, but I went with it. I dropped it and- this is my fault.” She bites back the tears that threaten to escape. It was her fault, wasn’t it? Her fault that so many other people had been akumatized. Her fault that the box had to be transferred to her. If she had just listened to her instincts, this could have been avoided. It could have-
“-athe. That’s it, breathe Pix. There you go. It is not your fault.” Jason says firmly.
“But it is. I-”
“Not your fault, Marinette. As much as it pains me to say it, it is not even the fault of that fool Chat Noir. He simply allowed his familial bonds to get in the way of the evidence that was right in front of you.” Damian says. “The only one at fault is Gabriel Agreste. He is the one who has been terrorizing Paris, not you. You have done your best to stop it.”
“Yeah, and now that we know who’s behind all of this, we can end it. For good.” Jason adds.
“Hold on, Tim, how sure are you? What evidence did you find?” Her dad asks. Tim opens his mouth to respond, but Alfred cuts him off.
“I would like to remind you all that I don’t appreciate business at the table. Interferes with digestion, you know. “ He says, and the conversation swiftly changes to something else. Marinette isn’t even sure what it is, because her thoughts are too busy thinking about this new reality she has suddenly found herself in. The one where her superhero partner’s father is an evil villain. A man that she had once idolized (until she knew how poorly he treated his only son) was the same man that had terrorized Paris for more than a year. Restricting citizens from feeling completely, from having negative emotions. He’d turned their home into a warzone, a battleground for him to try and achieve his goals. Marinette grits her teeth, determination sinking into her bones. She would not let him win. He would not succeed.
---
Holding the butterfly miraculous in her hand, Marinette can’t help but think of the poem Jason had read to her a few weeks ago. ‘This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper.’ And so it had. Over a year of torture from the man, and it was all over. There was no epic battle, no public showdown. It was, in all actuality, rather anticlimactic. But honestly, she was fine with that. Fine to follow her dad’s instructions on how to reach the secret lair, fine for the small fight Gabriel put up. The man was no warrior, and she’d been training with the bats for months. Within minutes of arriving at the Agreste mansion, Marinette had the butterfly miraculous and her dad had Gabriel Agreste restrained.
“You can’t do this! I have to make that wish!” Gabriel snarls, fighting against the restraints that her dad, Batman, had put him in.
“I think you’ll find, M. Agreste, that M. Batman can do anything. He is here on official Justice League business, after all. Perhaps next time, you’ll think twice before becoming a terrorist.” Marinette bites, her words sharp and her smile deadly. This man had put her through hell. He had <i>killed<i> her, and countless other Parisians. Even once he had guessed that she and Chat were kids, he’d still thrown awful fights their way. Still tried everything to be able to get the Miraculous. Marinette shoots the police officers a wide smile as they walk in, completely prepared to give them a presentation of every piece of evidence (without actually passing over the Miraculous, she couldn’t risk that but luckily they understood). As she stands there and talks to the officers, she feels a tiredness seep into her bones and threaten to drown her.
She was exhausted. Chat had left Paris when he found out who Hawkmoth was, too afraid that he would be akumatized before he could help her take down his father. She knew it was probably for the best, but it was still odd not fighting the last battle with Adrien at her side. He’d been there since the beginning, they’d been a team from the start. But at the same time, she understood. She wouldn’t be able to fight her family if they were the villain. She would be more likely to turn on everyone else, to join their side. So she was thankful that Adrien had left before he could be tempted to join his father. Even if she missed him like crazy. As the never ending stream of people die down, she follows her dad out of the Agreste mansion and to the rendezvous point that Dick had decided upon. Later, Ladybug would have to give a statement. She’d have to testify against Gabriel in court, and give Paris an update on their hero situation. She leans up against her dad tiredly, the exhaustion from the last year catching up to her all at once. She could do her duties later, but for now, Marinette Wayne was going home.

Did you ever watch Buffy? The first episode where Anya was introduced was titled "The Wish" and all I can think about is if Scott McCall had ever run into a pure Sidhe where they offered him a wish. Instead of, "I wish Buffy had never come to Sunnydale." It would be more, "I wish I was never bitten to become a werewolf." But just like all feaye tricks, the outcome is more, his Dad ended up with primary custody rather than his Mom and he was forced to leave BH. And then Stiles ended up more friends with Heather and others. And while Scott's life is worse, when he tracks down the others he finds all of theirs are greatly improved.
I think about it a lot and how Scott never really dealt with the consequences of any of his actions, everyone else did, and how an episode or mini-arc could have fixed a flaw in the show's design. I mean, we were already dealing with a lot of Celtic lore, why not someone from the Sidhe courts?
I have no idea why this took me so long to answer, so apologies for that. <3 I did watch buffy! I've seen all of it, and all of Angel as well. XD
I remember 'The Wish' episode, and whoooo boy it gave me chills. I loved how big the butterfly effect was, how something that seemed so small, something that Genuinely seemed to be the cause of a lot of problems in Sunnydale, ended up being so important to how things had progressed. Because, yeah, you would think Buffy not coming to Sunnydale would be a Good Thing, right? Sunnydale didn't have all of these insane issues before she arrived. It was quiet, and nothing big or scary ever happened. Her arrival matches perfectly with when everything started going absolutely nuts, so whatever selfish ideas Cordelia had, her thought that Buffy not coming to Sunnydale would be a good thing, makes sense. Except that, as she finds out, she's entirely wrong. Buffy's arrival was a lucky coincidence, or fate, whatever your taste leans toward. She showed up right as things started going nuts, and she kept it from going SO MUCH MORE NUTS.
Now, moving on to TW, it is a fascinating mix of being the Exact same situation, and the exact Opposite. I'll add a Read More, cus' holy god is this a lot of Rambling.
Because Scott wishing not to have been bitten...yeah, the bite Did improve things. But it improved things for him. He would absolutely regret making the wish, just like Cordelia did, because he would realize how many good things the bite had brought with it. BUT, conversely, he would have to realize how many good things the bite had brought for him, not for other people, and how their lives either wouldn't have been affect, or might've even Improved without him being bitten. Without the bite, Scott wouldn't have gotten on first line, period. His health issues made very clear in the five minutes he had them that any kind of stamina based sport was just out of the question for him. If he is unable to walk through the woods at a moderate pace without needing to grab his inhaler and stop against a tree, he just plain cannot play lacrosse for two or three hours of running at high speeds and working a bunch of muscles in his upper body. He likely wouldn't have gone out with Allison, because he would have no convenient way to get her attention. Furthermore, he wouldn't have the extra senses that both impressed her on the lacrosse field, and told him about her 'family dinner' the night of Lydia's party. (I've discussed this before, but... While it's true, Allison would have still brought him the dog; that dog would likely have attacked him, and his chances with her would have been shot in the foot when they both got in massive trouble and he likely had to go to the ER for stitches or something. Without Allison or first line, he wouldn't have started hanging out with the 'cool kids,' and quite frankly, wouldn't have had anyone to help him study for the classes he was struggling with. It's true that he also wouldn't have had werewolf things to worry about, or even a girlfriend to distract him from homework, so maybe that wouldn't have been such a huge issue, but still.
If we look at other people's lives and how They would have been affected by Scott not getting the bite...well, let's talk about that.
Stiles didn't get on first line because of Scott, or because of a werewolf bite. Or even because of the werewolf bullshittery occurring in town. He was put on first line because of his abilities, and even after being taken OFF first line for missing the game, he was put Right onto the field in the next game, chosen OVER other players who were perfectly viable options. Which means, he still would've ended up on first line. Allison wasn't interested in dating before she met Scott, and part of her draw to him was based on how 'different' he was. He knew things she didn't know how he could know, he had a weird ability to calm a furious, injured dog, and he had charisma that was ALSO gained from the bite, since being on first line made Scott Much more self-confident. If she didn't end up dating him, it's likely she wouldn't have dated at all. Which would mean no hiding from her parents, no strange conflicts of interest, AND, interestingly enough --depending on her involvement in the murders, etc that would still be occurring in town--no night in the school that would scare her bad enough to ask Kate for extra help and tip her headfirst into hunter training. AND, even if she DID still end up getting those lessons from Kate? There would be no bitterness to fuel her behavior at the end of season 1.
Allison was Traumatized after Kate showed her Derek on the grate. She was horrified, and didn't know what to do about it, and while we can ramble all we want about the morality of her not confronting her family (whom she's just discovered is willing to electrocute people) about it, the fact is that she pushed the thoughts aside to stop freaking out and went to that dance. Where she found out Scott was a werewolf, and was So fucking Betrayed that she was willing to help Kate catch him and Derek. No Scott, no betrayal, no willingness to help Kate recapture the miserable man who'd been chained up in a basement.
If we go back to that specific night, and try to unfold the events from there if Scott hadn't been bitten, things get a little complicated, but I'll take a few artistic liberties. Scott isn't bitten. Presumably, he just happens to get out of the woods in time, or he gets caught with Stiles by the sheriff, or doesn't go to the woods in the first place. These all change the possible outcomes of that night. If he hadn't gone in the first place, and Stiles went alone, would he have been bitten instead? Would Scott have been dragged into all of this anyway, but without the protection and boost of being a werewolf and cured of his asthma? If he weren't the one bitten, and he saw everything Stiles gained from it, would he still have such a hatred for the bite? Or would he want it, like Erica did, to cure him and make him powerful and cool? But, let's assume Stiles doesn't get bitten either. The second half of Laura's body still hasn't been found, and Stiles has no reason to fear running back into the preserve the next day, and no real punishment from his father as far as we can tell. So, does he go back to look again? If he did, he would run into Derek, because Derek would still be there after retrieving Laura's body himself. He would see Derek and still recognize him, and from there, things might spiral, still involving Stiles in the supernatural, and it's likely Stiles would try to involve Scott, and Again we get hit with "Would Scott want the bite, if he hadn't gotten forcibly bitten in the first place?" The answer is probably yes. He wanted to be cool, and popular, and on the lacrosse team. He wanted everything being a werewolf gave him. BUT if we're looking at this wish as similar to "The Wish," then no matter what, Scott won't be bitten. He'll be transported to a new world where it just never happened, and he'll be human, and forced to watch everyone around him be just plain different. Scott not being bitten would isolate him from Stiles, if Stiles got involved in the spn anyway. We SAW how Stiles cut off his other friends once the spn starting getting in the way. He and Harley? We have no clue how close they were. They were close enough for her to tease him about his crush on Lydia, for her to wander up comfortably to the locker and talk to them. And he cut her off as soon as the werewolf stuff hit. What if he cut Scott off? To protect him, if nothing else, like he did his own father. Once he realized the danger involved, I doubt he would be willing to put Scott in harm's way.
So, Scott would not only lose first line, lose his girlfriend, lose his popularity, lose his health and strength and heightened abilities, lose his 'importance' to the goings-on of Beacon Hills, but he would also lose Stiles, who seems to have been his only friend, unless he also had a relationship with Harley.
Okay, I've rambled enough about the what if's, so let's talk about the Reason why this wish would go so badly for Scott, in such a different way than it went for Cordelia. Cordelia, first off, wished that someone Else would not have/do something, rather than wishing for herself not to have done something. She watches how fucked up the world gets, and how much worse her life is without Buffy around to save the day. Scott wished for Himself not to have done something (even something passive, like 'get bitten') and would have to watch how fucked up his world gets, and how far behind he would fall. The other's lives might not necessarily get better, because Peter is still on the loose, and the hunters are still there, etc etc, but they would still Progress, while Scott would stay stagnant.
And WHY is that? Because Scott isn't important to the story. It DOESN'T start with him. That's the Whole Point of his character. He is supposed to be the 'everyman' who gets dragged into crazy shit and becomes integral to things that he wasn't ever meant to be a part of. The guy who wanders into becoming King or 'The Hero' that will save the world, even though he's just a small lad from a tiny town, whose highest prospects were "get on first line."
He was NEVER supposed to be Buffy, or if he was, it was done Very Badly.
But Beacon Hills WASN'T a quiet town before Scott was bitten; however much he might've said 'nothing ever happens in this town.' It was FULL of bullshittery and magic from the very beginning. There was the fire, and Paige, and the blinding of Deucalion, and the death of Alexander Argent, and the Nogitsune in the internment camp nearby. All of these things were around So much longer than Scott's bite, and they'd been affecting the world that whole time too. Because yes, in Buffy, the master was There before she was, but he was literally rendered inert by the situations he was in. And the things he'd done happened Centuries before, not six years. There is a difference. Sunnydale was Not Known for the insane number of weird deaths. Beacon Hills was. And aside from the Nogitsune, every single fucking thing that happened in Beacon Hills, was attuned to the Hale family in one way or another. Deucalion's blinding occurred during a meeting on Hale land, because Talia was known as a wise leader, etc, in the area and other wolves flocked to her. Deucalion biting Argent seems unrelated (if you even believe Deucalion did that, despite being a fucking pacifist before Gerard blinded him), but again, it occurs just a couple hours away from Beacon Hills, which is Hale Territory. The one who plays the Buffy role here? Who shows up at just the right time, and launches themself against an endless wave of evil, with slightly enhanced senses and a thorough need to do good and not back away from things that 'aren't they're problem'? The actual hero who is somehow tied to everything going on in ways even they don't understand? Was Derek. The guy who entirely unwittingly allowed Julia Baccari to survive, because he was trying to be merciful to his first love. Who entirely unwittingly was manipulated into giving up information that let a hunter kill his family. Who followed his sister back to town after six years of just trying to survive in New York, fell into a fucking tragedy, and decided to stop the bad guys anyway, even though he knew he didn't stand a fucking chance.
And as annoyed as some might get. The 'everyman' who stumbles onto the set and accidentally becomes integral to the saving of the world? The one whose ambitions are small and who expectations are smaller? Who is misunderstood, and has abilities that aren't recognized or appreciated, that doesn't really fit in, but tries their best anyway? The literal Angel to Derek's Buffy?
Is fucking Stiles. The son of the sheriff who just could not let it go when he discovered there was something funky going on. Who hung around on the edges, even though he wasn't really wanted, because he needed to help. Who ended up saving Derek's life over and over, and becoming so important as to be Derek's anchor? Who literally WENT DARKSIDE and HAD TO BE NEARLY KILLED, even though Derek didn't to kill him???
I know how it sounds, but JD SAID he took inspiration from Buffy. The issue is that his parallels are between DEREK AND STILES, and BUFFY AND ANGEL. Respectively.
Derek might act like the broody bad boy, but it is STILES' mentality that matches Angel's behavior, and it's Derek who matches Buffy.
I'm so fucking off track. Scott would be miserable if he ever managed to get a wish and used it to keep from having been bitten. And it would be sad. I would feel bad for him, had I watched something like that happen. Seeing him realize that most of the good things he had, he only got because of the bite. That Stiles would still be on first line, that Lydia and Jackson would still be the popular kids. That Allison wouldn't know he existed, or if she did would avoid him entirely. That Jackson would never have been turned into the kanima in the first place. That everyone else would move on and up in life, and he would still be standing at the bottom step. Because it wasn't his actual limitations that were holding him back, it was his refusal to accept them, to work with them, and to just plain stop Envying Everyone Around him, and start living his own fucking life instead of trying to steal other people's.
Scott wishes he were Cordelia, and I promise that would backfire too.

I know you previously mentioned that Lo and Posie are pretty close. Can you please write something about them having a girls day together?
Lo and Posie 🥺 there really is only a few years difference between the two, only seven years, and Lo really took to Posie. Taught her to ice skate, they love cookie together, Lo got her into a bit of the gaming she's into, and even just going and getting pampered together. Lo becomes one of Posie's go to's, along with Aunt Arleigh.  Just for fun, we’re going to say this is Posie’s senior year, making Lo 24 and Posie 17.

You point over to the eggs, not stopping what your doing, just continuing to listen to the teenage Posie.  Since joining the family a couple years ago, you had become her buddy.  Her personality a bit too meek for Lucy, even though she wasn’t that much older than her.  You being the same age as Lucy, and closer to Posie’s own light hearted bubbly personality, it fit.
His sisters could be a bit intimidating in so many ways, especially Lucy.  All of them so sure with themselves.  Older, much more experienced, and even though they always included you, you felt most comfortable with the oldest of the grandchildren.
Letting her choose the playlist for the day, and no surprise its classic seventies rock.  Arleigh had got her into listening to that decade of music.  Even teaching her how to play on a guitar.  She pops a chocolate piece into her mouth and finishes chopping the bar up.
“So?” she looks over at you with a quirky smile before returning back to the chocolate.  “Blade and James said there was some boy at your game?” she gives you a little shrug, and adds the vanilla to the batter.
“Who is he?”
“Just some boy.”
Her voice sings along to the song, ignoring your question.  “Is he cute.”?
“He’s hot,” she clears her throat, and adds in the flour mixture to the mixing bowl.  “I mean, he’s um...okay.”
“He goes to every game?”
“Just the home ones.  Lo, he’s so cute,” her body turns to face you, and she flops in one of the barstools,  “I met him my freshman year, and he’s coming to the games with his friend just to see me,” you give her a slow nod, and move away to take over.  Knowing that she talks more when she’s sitting and thinking.  “I know he’s older, dad is acting like Papa did with mom.  Jax is just rough around the edges.”
“A bad boy?” she shrugs.  “How bad?”
“He drives a Harley.  Him and his friend have an apartment together.  But he’s really nice.  We had one class together, he wasn’t an ass or didn’t talk out of turn.  He was respectful to the teacher, and he’s smart.  He’s just, you know, rough around the edges.  Doesn’t matter.  Dad won’t let him get near me with a ten foot pole.  He’s determined to keep me his little girl forever, but I’ve only got a couple months left of school.  He’s not bothered by the age gap between you and Blade or Story and Carter.  Story is like his little sister, and I don’t even know if this guy likes me.”
You giggle at her rambles.  She’s failed to mention that she is James’ first daughter.  A huge age gap between her and her siblings, so she was his baby for a long time.  “Story and me aren’t his daughters.  And from my understanding, he wasn’t the biggest fan of Story and Carter, even threatened his best friend.  But you,” you singsong to her, petting your hand on her head, “You’re the baby.  The first grandchild.  I’m sure Pop Pop, Pappy, and Papa would have a lot to say about him too.”
“Don’t remind me.  Mimi said he was cute, mom, too.  I don’t even know if he likes me.  Propably doesn’t so it won’t matter anyways,” Posie turns off the mixture, and you watch her defeatedly start scooping out the dough the way that her Nana had taught her.
“Why else would he be coming to the ballgame if it wasn’t to see you pretty in your cheer uniform?” Posie doesn’t respond, clearly getting in her head about the whole situation.  “If he’s not coming just to look at you, he’s stupid.  You’re beautiful, darling even.  You’re smart, funny, talented, and Nana taught you how to cook.”
“She did.”
“No man can resist,” you take a small piece of the dough, and pop it in your mouth.  “Nana’s chocolate chip cookies.  Why don’t we make this batch for him.  You know where him and this friend live?  If not, I can trick Blade or JJ into finding him.”
“I know where he lives.”
“Okay, this is going to be for this cute boy that keeps coming to your games.  So we better make something else for Bladey or when he gets home with my beautiful little Squishy girl, he’s not going to be happy.”

can u write some nsfw post Kenny ( or just grown up kenny ) headcanons with a reader who is easily flustered?
This is gonna be relatively short because I don't have too much to go off of
Edit literally MONTHS later, I’m so sorry about how long it took and how shitty it is 😭
NSFW CONTENT
NSFW Kenny hcs with a reader who gets flustered easily
Tumblr media
• Kenny thinks it's adorable when you're flustered, he honestly kinda finds it attractive that he can get you so hot and bothered
• That ofc causes him to go farther and farther over time (as long as you're comfortable with it) . It’s forever his favorite hobby now. Yes, he considers it his hobby because he’s a weirdo like that but it’s fine because we love that
• You always try making him flustered in return but it often doesn’t work because you end up stumbling over your words without meaning to which ends up making Kenny laugh a bit
• But you have succeeded before!! He’s not used to people flirting back with him so when you do, it gets him a little embarrassed
• Usually during sex you cover your face or try finding your moans out of embarrassment and Kenny isn’t having any of that!!
• You will question me, but mirror sex. He likes fucking you in front of a mirror tbh, especially because he gets to see your red face as you watch him fuck you
• Imagine he grabs your cheeks with one hand to turn your head towards the mirror as you ride him, whispering in your ear to keep your eyes on how his cock moves in and out of you. Nasty perv fr
• Anyways yeah, Kenny’s very much a believer in “the louder you are, the more you’re enjoying yourself”. You best believe he’s trying to get you as loud as you can be
• Plus he likes leaving marks on you and pulling your shirt just a little to the side in public to show off his handiwork
• He practically lives for how flustered you get when he does that and the way you sputter trying to tell your friends it’s not what they think when it damn well is

----------------------
His hands wrapped around the blonde's throat, watching the life slip from her eyes.
"Oh, my sweet Avalon. My beautiful resting place." Her body screamed for it to stop, but the girl was frozen in time, stuck in an everlasting moment.
In the matter of minutes, the girl was wide awake, grasping for air. "Ava, it's only a nightmare. You're okay now." Her uncle sat in a chair near her bed, wanting to fight the bad dreams off, but he was clueless to how. Ever since she came to live with them, The girl had these nightmares. Ava never spoke a word about what happened, still he knew. There were police reports and news articles, anything he wanted to was at his figure tips. That was still only a fraction.
Tears stained the girl's red cheeks. Her body seized with fear. The older man grabbed a blanket from her closet to wrap around her.
Ava glanced up, offering a pained smile in thanks. "Whenever you want to talk, I'm here. We love you so much, Ava." He rambled on for the next time minutes nearly putting her back to sleep, but she fought it, terrified of what might come next.
Her uncle turned to start heading back to the main house. Ava's voice rasped, "please stay." She reached for his hand, one of the few comforts she felt in a long time. "Can you read to me?"
Ava loved when her uncle read to her, it was if his words were a portal to another world. She could get lost in her thought and escape.
The smile was evident in the mans voice. "Why don't I just pick up where I left off last night?" Her head bobbed.
Every time she had a terrible night terror, he would come in and read to her. Currently they were reading "Tales of King Arthur & The Knights of the Round Table." It was her moms favorite book growing up and she missed everything about the woman now. There was eleven years separating now and the last time she saw the brown haired lady, but that didn't stop Ava from missing the lady who was supposed to take care of her and protect her.
In the matter of moments she was lost in the tales of how the damsel of the lake saved King Arthur from the mantle. "It should have burned him." Ava spoke.
"You're correct, but we're not done yet." They both glance toward the clock. The time was currently 6:00am.
"Maybe we should save it for later. You and Macy have to get to school in a few hours. It's your first day." He brushed hairs back from her face. The small pieces seemed glued to her forehead.
"Can I just stay home?" She begged.
"And do what? You were supposed start last week, sweetheart."
"We can tell them I'll start tomorrow. Please." The uncles eyes glanced at the poor girl. He knew she was nervous, heck he was nervous for her, but he knew there had to be a line drawn.
"Ava, take a shower and get ready. Yes, you are going. We can grab dinner. We'll make it a family thing."
Family thing, the words bounces around Ava's head. Sure she had her uncle and cousins, but that's not the same thing. She wanted her mom and dad, with a small house and a dog, maybe if her parents were still together she'd have siblings too. Maybe her father would have loved her like a daughter and not a piece of property. Maybe he wouldn't be behind bars and they would all be happy.
"Ava, please come out of that dark place your mind wanders to. We only want what is best for you." The girl offered another small smile.
"I'm trying uncle." He kissed her forehead and made his way out.
Ava made her way to her closet, grabbing a fluffy white turtleneck, a Harley Davidson crew neck, a pair of light washed jeans with slits in the knees, and her under garments. She was unsure of what they wore at a proper rich kid school, but this will do.
The weather was quite chilly here during the winter months, barely reaching above the mid 50's. Ava slipped under the warmth of the shower, trying to wash the stench of her past. All she wanted to do was be clean and pure, but the filth was buried deep in the cracks of her heart.
There were no more tears left in her fragile body. She rinsed the soap from her hair and hopped out, quickly getting dressed.
Ava's makeup was light, some tinted moisturizer, mascara, and eyebrow gel. Nothing over the top, but she wanted to make a good first impression. A simple gold chain and few rings to match dressed the look up. Ava clipped her hair back with a large butterfly clip. This will be good enough, she thought, and headed over to the main house.
Ava currently lived in the garage. Her uncle recently turned it in to a studio loft apartment for guest. Perfect timing really. She had all she needed, a bed, fridge, cooking appliances, and enough for comfy living. Ava still preferred her aunts breakfast over anything she could ever attempt to make.
"Good morning, Ava."
"Good Morning Aunt Mae, morning Macy. Are those scrambled eggs?"
"With a hint of cinnamon, just for you." Ava's stomach rumbled at the words of her aunt.
"Perfect timing." Ava began to stuff her face.
Macy laughed. "You're such a pig."
Macy was currently fourteen, not that much younger than her cousin. She practically worshiped the ground Ava walked on. To her, Ava was everything she wanted to be and they cherished the time together.
Both girls had the blonde hair and green eyes that ran through the family line, some have even mistaken them as sisters, but that boosted both their egos.
"Ava are you okay with driving to school? It would help us out so much in the morning?" Her uncle bursted through the kitchen doors.
"I would love to uncle Matt. Anything for baby Macy." She stuck her tongue out to the younger blonde next to her. Giggles erupted from both of them as he kissed all three women on the head.
"We'll you guys need to head out soon, can't be late. Remember, Ava needs to head to the office first thing." They both nod as the two girls scrambled to finish eating.
This is gonna be a long day.

Road Trip (Ch.2)
All it took was one sign. One sign to get his kids to talk over each other and beg Tony to take the next exit to the county festival and that's what he did. What was the sign? The top part of a ferris wheel. That he didn't even see until he drove another mile. The excitement was so contagious that even Lucy squealed happily and Tony really had no choice after that. It was a good excuse to get out of the car and spend some time doing something else besides getting uncomfortable in a cramped car.
He just knew the kids would be getting back in the car later with too much sugar in their systems. Tony doubted Stephen would stop them as long as they didn't consume enough to give themselves stomach aches. The second he parked, the older kids started unbuckling and climbing out of the car to stretch and let Athena out.
"Hey, hey, it's not going anywhere you guys." Tony says as he turns off the car.
"It's not that." Thomas makes a face.
"I think Lucy got a little too excited." Cassie laughs and Tony sniffs.
Oh yeah. The car didn't smell like that five minutes ago.
"Oh dolcezza. You are your mother's daughter." Tony sighs.
"Excuse you?!" Stephen says as the kids cackle.
"You know I'm kidding. I'll change her." Tony laughs as he gets out of the car and walks around to join the kids at the side door.
"You wouldn't have had a choice." Stephen grumbles, getting out and taking the wallet Tony hands over to him. "I'll go buy the tickets."
As Stephen walks away, Athena dutifully follows him, and Tony digs Lucy out of her car seat after laying down the portable changing pad on the floor of the car. Diana and Valerie had climbed out beforehand and went to stand with either Cassie or William and from what he could catch from Diana's excited rambling, she already had plans on what she wanted to do. The kids would probably split up a little but he knew Diana and Valerie would be safely supervised so he wasn't worried about losing any kids. Tony was still a little surprised that Valerie was okay with the idea of staying with William, but it was good. Her attachment to the younger twin was (very) slowly helping her not rely on Stephen's presence which would be extremely helpful when she was old enough for school.
Tony had a feeling Diana and Val would eventually be pawned off on Tony and Stephen so the teens could do their own thing without having to worry.
"Okay, Lulu." Tony says as he picks up the freshly diapered infant and holds her against his shoulder. "Let's go find a trash can to dispose of your biological warfare."
"There's one by the entrance." Stephen says as he approaches them again and holds out the tickets and some money for each of them. "Don't give yourself stomach aches and keep an eye on your sisters. We'll get together for lunch around 2."
"Thanks Mom!" Harley says and the kids grab their tickets.
All except Valerie who looked confused when Stephen didn't have one for her.
"You don't need one darling." Stephen says with a smile. "You get to go in for free. Are you going to be with William?"
"Yes Mama."
"Okay. Be good for him."
"She always is." William says and picks up the toddler. "Come on. We'll go see if they have face painting."
Tony chuckles as the kids take off, shouldering the diaper bag before closing and locking up the car. He and Stephen head for the entrance as well, and only then does he notice Athena with her service vest on. Probably a good idea. It was unlikely pets were allowed, but they weren't going to leave her in the car, so the vest would let her in with no questions asked. She was legally licensed as a service animal anyway. With how much their family had gone through, anxiety and PTSD were unfortunately a part of their lives. At the very least.
But they had a good handle on that so the worst case scenario would be that they really did lose a kid in the chaos, and Athena would be able to sniff them out.
"I need to dispose of the evidence." Tony reminds Stephen, and the sorcerer chuckles.
"Right over there." Stephen motions with his hand, and waits for Tony to come back before saying, "we probably should have all put some sunscreen on."
"I think there's some in the diaper bag. We'll snatch the kids as we see them and apply it with a mop."
Stephen snorts. "I think we should ban Lilo and Stitch for a while. There have been too many references."
"What are you talking about?" Tony asks.
"Stupid head, Pudge, applying sunscreen with a mop--" Stephen says while ticking off his fingers.
"Two of those were Diana." Tony points out.
Stephen chuckles as they walk through the front gates of the fair and they both kind of reel back from the amount of noise they walk into. Even with seven kids and living in New York, some things just couldn't fully prepare them for the variety of noises the fair had. Carnival rides, kids screaming, those people at the rigged games trying to attract a sucker out of their allowance...and it all fascinated Lucy. Well, her fascinated look consisted of looking over Tony's shoulder while drooling on it, but she was unbothered. Not even the sudden noises startled her. She did have six older siblings that were pretty noisy.
"Just a second." Stephen suddenly says and Tony rolls his eyes when the sorcerer seems to grab Thomas out of thin air. "Sunscreen please."
"I'm too fast to get sunburned." Thomas says.
"Did you get that idea from Pietro? That's not how it works." Stephen huffs and takes the diaper bag from Tony to place it on a nearby empty table and dig out the sunscreen.
A full thing of it to Tony's surprise. Though he probably shouldn't have been. Stephen was on top of things like that and it still amazed him that the sorcerer could keep up with that kind of stuff. Stephen really was a mom...or maybe his eidetic memory had a hand in it? Maybe both.
"Thank you." Stephen says once Thomas is finished. "Send your brothers and sisters our way if you see them."
"Okay, okay!" And Thomas was gone in a flash.
"You know, just last year, he and William would have cowered at the thought of sassing you." Tony says as he sits down at the table.
"I'm glad that's not the case anymore." Stephen says as he squirts some sunscreen into his hands, then starts applying it to Lucy. "Can you get her hat out of the bag?"
"Yup."
Tony grabs the bag, doing his best to dig through it with one hand, and finally gets his hand on a yellow sun hat with bears. He immediately places it on Lucy's head and helps rub in the rest of the sunscreen on her face.
"I don't remember buying the hat."
"That's because it's from Pepper." Stephen says.
"When did she give it to us?" Tony asks, kissing Lucy's cheek when she's properly protected from harmful sun rays.
"I think you were in the lab with Thomas figuring out something with his suit."
"Oh yeah."
It took a little while, but they eventually got a hold of all of their kids to apply the needed sunscreen, William and Valerie surprisingly being the last. As William promised, they had found a face painting stand and now the little girl's cheek had a group of stars on it. William even helped carefully apply the sunscreen so it wouldn't ruin the paint but she would still be protected, and then they were off again. It really made Tony and Stephen happy to see a teenager willing to spend time with a two year old for so long. But then again, Valerie was almost always so well behaved and adored William almost as much as her mother. Tony wondered if Lucy would follow one if the older kids like a duckling when she was a little older too.
"Tony!" Stephen exclaims. "Don't give her that!"
Tony looks at Stephen and smiles. He had gotten up to buy some cotton candy and came back, giving Lucy a tiny piece. No bigger than the nail on his pinky finger. Of course she loved it and opened her mouth for more…and of course Tony obliged her.
"It won't hurt her. It'll dissolve and I'm not giving her anymore." Tony brushes him off and holds out the cotton candy to Stephen.
"What are we going to do about lunch?" The sorcerer sighs.
"Uh... the closest thing to healthy I've seen were burgers or corn dogs." Tony replies, looking around.
Stephen grimaces. "Not the greatest choices but the kids won't want to leave to find a diner."
Tony snorts. "They'll be fine."
"Hey, Mom!" Peter walks over with an enormous teddy bear and sets it on the bench next to Stephen, with Cassie and Diana close behind. "Got you something."
"Are you taking lessons from your father? I heard about the rabbit from Pepper." Stephen rolls his eyes.
"I'm kidding. Lucy can have it." Peter laughs and leans over the table to grab the baby's foot. "She doesn't have one yet right?"
"If that thing falls in her, we'll never find her." Tony says as the other four kids finally join them, and he hands his wallet to Peter. "Hamburgers or corn dogs. That's what you guys have to choose from."
"Hamburger." All of the kids say in unison and Peter shrugs.
"Makes that easier for me."
He kisses Cassie's cheek as he turns and grabs Thomas's wrist to drag him along to help, and the rest of them sit down and wait once Harley and Cassie pull a second picnic table closer. Peter knew how everyone liked their burger so their lunch arrived pretty quickly without Thomas running it over. Both boys came back with their arms full of burgers and then made a second trip to bring cups of lemonade for everyone. They ate their lunch with loud conversation to be heard over the noise of the fair, and then when they were finished, the older kids (sans Thomas) took off again to do their own thing. Diana was content to hit the games with Thomas for a little while, and Valerie was happy to stay with her parents and sister.
"You've got some ketchup." Stephen mumbles and wipes Valerie's cheek with a napkin. The unpainted one. "How's your hamburger?"
"Yummy."
"Did you have fun with William?"
"Uh-huh. Took me up there!" She points at the ferris wheel.
Stephen and Tony smile as the sorcerer digs out Athena's bowl and places it on the ground before filling it up with some water Harley had gotten from a food stand before he left with William. Of course they had fed her too, but Stephen had to discreetly retrieve her meal through one of his gateways since there wasn't a good chance of finding some decent meat at the fair. Stephen sort of spoiled his wolf.
"We'll give them a couple more hours to enjoy the fair before we hit the road." Tony says. "We need to find a place to stay the night."
"There's a hotel in town. We can let the kids stay until they're either ready to go or it starts to get dark." Stephen says.
"It'll give them time to digest all the crap they ate today, I guess." Tony nods. "Works for me."
"Maybe we'll find somewhere decent to eat for dinner. Some place that sells salad." Stephen says and Tony laughs.
"Sweating grease over there Duchess?"
"I feel disgusting."
"You get first dibs on the shower." Tony cackles. "No matter how many rooms we end up with."
"Watching the kids eat those hamburgers…" Stephen rubs his eyes. "I need to eat five salads."
"Might as well get one of those deep fried Snickers bars then."
"They have that and you're telling me now?!"
Tony laughs again when Stephen gets up from the picnic bench to go searching for a stand that made his chocolate treat. They were at the fair so it only made sense to join in on eating ridiculous amounts of junk that would possibly clog their arteries and make up for it later with salad for dinner.
"Get me one too!" Tony calls after him.

wrong numbers and a knight in shining armor (or a red t-shirt)
Just an itsy bitsy idea. No Powers AU. TW for being followed??
Peter had never really worried about his well-being in a place like Queens. Sure, crime was almost always high and it was hard to walk to school without getting at least a little bit antsy with all the people, unable to tell who’s good and who might draw a weapon if you step too close. But Queens had always been home.
Growing up, Peter had never shied away from playing outside or walking to the park on his own, he’d never been afraid of the man who’d sat outside their building for six months, quiet and carrying a switchblade, he’d never really thought twice about being a defenseless kid in New York.
He’s seventeen now, still as defenseless as he was a little kid, when he feels real, pure fear for the first time.
It’s late, granted, later than he’d normally be out and about anyways, but he’d gotten caught up at Flash’s house with Academic Decathlon, prepping for a competition. All the other kids had gotten rides home from their parents except for Peter and Cindy, but she lived only a block or so away. Peter walked her home anyways, sensing her worry about walking home at night.
Now, he’s alone, walking the fifteen blocks by himself at nearly one in the morning. He makes it four before he notices he’s being followed.
He purposefully stops and picks up the pace to see if the man will move past him or leave, but he follows his every move from a few houses back.
He’s being followed.
On instinct, he reaches for his phone, needing to call MJ or Flash who aren’t far from him to come save him, but it’s dead. He hadn’t bothered asking to borrow a charger at Flash’s house because he didn’t think he’d need to.
But when he puts his phone back in his pocket, his hand hits his wallet which makes his change jingle.
A payphone.
There’s not as many payphones in the city as there once was, but Peter’s sure he passed at least one on the way to Flash’s house. It’s a better option than just walking home when that man could get bored and jump him at any second.
He picks up the pace, not wanting to spook the guy but needing to make as much distance as possible.
His breaths are coming too fast, chest heaving, and he shivers, though he’s not sure if it’s from the cold or from the fear that’s settled frigid in his veins.
Three more blocks later, he sees the phonebooth, blue and with a little light like a beacon.
He slips into the booth, tucking himself in the corner, trying not to stare at the man as he stops a few buildings away and leans against a brick wall.
MJ. He’ll call MJ. Flash might laugh at him, Ned lives too far, May’s working, Tony’s on a mission. Plus, nobody’s as scary as MJ is.
His hands are shaking as he dials the number, white-knuckling the phone. He cradles it against his ear, nearly sobbing in relief when the dialing stops and the phone’s answered.
“Hello?”
Except that’s not MJ. It’s a man’s voice, low and gravely and distinctly southern.
“Oh shit, sorry, I- I guess I called the wrong number. I- I’m sorry. I’ll, um, I’ll let you go,” Peter stutters out, reaching for his wallet and more coins to call again, but he comes up empty handed. He only had enough for one call.
“Wait,” the guy says, uncertain and worried. “You sound rattled. Everything okay?”
Peter glances over his shoulder at where the man is very slowly slinking closer to his phone booth and Peter lets out a scared squeak, fear gripping his chest. “There’s this guy and he’s been following me for like five blocks now and I- I’m really scared. Really fucking scared. I have another seven blocks to get home and I don’t- I was trying to call my friend to come walk me home but I guess I forgot- I don’t know- I guess I misdialed and I don’t have anymore change.”
“You want me to call the cops for you? Where are you?”
“71st and Bow Street, Queens? New York?”
The boy on the other end of the line hums. “Well, I don’t know how much you really want another stranger approaching you tonight, but I’m actually staying with a friend right near where you are. If you stay put, I can make it to you in less than fifteen minutes.”
“You would do that for me?”
“Of course I would,” the boy says with a little laugh. He sounds genuinely worried about Peter which warms his chest. “As long as you’re okay with that. I don’t want to freak you out more. I can always call your friend for you or the police for you.”
Peter lets out another breathy sob, relieved but still shaking with fear. “No, it’s okay. If you don’t mind coming to get me, I’d really be okay with that.”
“Okay. I’m wearing jeans and a bright red t-shirt, and I’ve got blond hair. Just under six feet. My name’s Harley Keener. That way, nobody can try to impersonate me if someone gets there before me,” he laughs. “I’ll be there in fifteen, ‘kay?”
“Thank you,” Peter breathes. “See you in fifteen.”
The phone clicks, signaling the end of the call, but Peter doesn’t let go of the phone, keeping it pressed against his ear and nodding as though Harley’s still talking to him. He figures it’s safer to pretend he’s talking to somebody. That way, hopefully the man will stay back while he waits.
As soon as he sees a mop of curly blond hair and a bright red t-shirt, jogging up the street towards the phone booth, Peter’s knees give out.
Harley slows down, squaring his shoulders and sending a calm look over at the man who glares at Peter before slinking down the street.
“Is it okay if I come over there?” Harley calls out softly, hands lifted in defense.
Peter nods quickly, crying a little harder, more in relief and being safe than anything else. He doesn’t think he could stand up yet, knees still weak and hands trembling. Harley moves quickly to tug the phonebooth door open and he slides down to his knees, easy smile on his face.
“He’s gone. Don’t think he’ll want to come back now that he’s outnumbered. He didn’t hurt you, did he?”
“No,” Peter barely manages to choke out, reaching out to catch Harley’s hand, needing the extra piece of comfort. “Thank you for coming to get me. I don’t- I don’t know what I would’ve done-”
Harley smiles, squeezing Peter’s hand before he’s standing up, carefully tugging Peter up with him. “It’s all good, no need to thank me. It’s the least I could do. Come on, up we get.”
Under the streetlight, Peter can properly see Harley. He’s young, probably Peter’s age, if he had to guess, tall and strong with blond curls and the brightest blue eyes Peter’s ever seen. He’s got his easy smile, all soft and special like each smile is more important than the last.
It makes Peter feel incredibly self-conscious of his no doubt puffy face and red eyes and still trembling hands in the aftermath.
“You want me to walk you home? And feel free to say no, I won’t take it harshly,” Harley says, not an ounce of any negativity in his voice, just sweet.
“You want to walk me home?” Peter echoes uncertainly, but he’s still clinging to Harley’s hand, still glancing around nervously like every shadow is out to get him. “It’s seven blocks from here if you’re okay with that.”
Harley grins, squeezing his hand. “It would be my honor to walk you home.”
“I’m, uh, I’m Peter, by the way, Peter Parker.”
“Well, Peter Parker, lead the way!”
They talk all the way home, all seven blocks, hand-in-hand like they’ve known each other for more than an hour. Harley keeps everything light, making jokes and telling stories about his little sister and his hometown and his mom, the friend he’s staying with in the area, Gwen, and in return, Peter talks about his aunt and about his friends and Academic Decathlon.
By the time they make it to Peter’s apartment building, Peter doesn’t really want to say goodbye to Harley. The last thing he wants to do is make Harley uncomfortable, but he also desperately doesn’t want to spend the next few hours alone in his apartment building. He won’t be able to sleep and the anxiety is still thrumming through him.
“Listen, I appreciate everything you’ve done for me tonight when you didn’t have to, and I don’t want to take up all your night, but…”
“But?” Harley prompts, never losing his smile and tightening his grip on Peter’s hand.
“Would you wanna come up for a coffee? Or a snack? I just- I don’t really want to be alone and you make me feel safe and I’m- I’m rambling, sorry. You probably want to go home, not spend your night with a wrong number-”
Harley lets out a little laugh. “I’d love to come up with you. As long as you want me, I’m here.”

Can you do a prompt of Marinette being the daughter of the Joker and Harley but Harley left him before Marinette was born and when Joker found out about his daughter He decided to kidnap Marinette so she can become like him (Ace chemicals) (Daminette)
Woot, my first ask in a while! Let’s see how I can do this oddly specific ask that reminds me of a fic that might actually exist but tbh I’ve read so many fanfics idk if my brain is remembering right
—*—*—*—*—*
Marinette knew Sabine and Tom weren’t her biological parents. She had known ever since she was eight, when her mother by blood visited her for the first time, sat her down, and explained everything. Including, but not limited to, her disastrously toxic past relationship, her new girlfriend, and her recent success with long term rehab (unofficial rehab that mostly consisted of illegal anti-hero actions, but hey if it worked it worked).
Marinette understood. Well no, she really didn’t since she was only eight, but she understood that her mom— that Harley— was genuine. She had always had a knack for emotions and telling when people were sincere or not. And Harley really was regretful about not being in her life beforehand, and was serious about wanting to be part of her life now that her own was mostly sorted out.
So Marinette was not surprised when Harley really did stick it out. When Harley cooed over Marinette copying her hairstyle to show her support of her biological mom, when Harley never failed to call at least once a week even if she was in jail for punching some asshole or another. Harley never stayed arrested long anymore, she was usually found to be on the right side of the moral scale more and more often so the police didn’t bother keeping her locked up anymore. Through the years, Marinette always looked forward to her mom’s calls. Looked forward to being lulled to sleep by one crazy story or another from her mother’s past. Everything was nice. Perfect, even, for a while.
A thump sounded from her balcony, one late night when Marinette was thirteen. Blinking, the dark haired girl furrowed her brows. Who would be on her balcony? Cautiously walking towards the trap door leading to it, grasping her metal pencil holder as a weapon (she remembered all of her Mom’s stories about break-ins and random attacks back in Gotham), the teen strained her ears. Akuma attacks were only a few months old now, but she had already become in high alert for any sign of Hawkmoth or his victims. As per usual, Marinette’s paranoia began to kick in. Did Hawkmoth already figure her out? Was he here for her earrings? Would she be able to fight him?
She gently pushed up the trap door, catching a glimpse of black leather. Huh? Marinette narrowed her eyes, confused. Was it Chat? He should have been on patrol, on the other side of the city. What was he doing visiting her?
Suddenly the trap door yanked the rest of the way open, making Marinette yelp as the handle for it rugged away from her fingers. And there, backlit by the pure blue-white moonlight, was Not Chat Noir. It was Catwoman, in all her skintight black leather glory, grinning at her before pushing her cat-eye goggles up to the top of her head and crouching down by the trap door’s entrance, balancing only on the pads of her feet.
“Well hello there~” the woman purred. “So you’re the cute little kitten Harley is so secretive about. Nice to finally meet you,” the woman held out a hand, sending Marinette a sweet, if mysterious, smile. For a while, the pigtailed girl only stared before a squeal of excitement left her throat, leaving very little room for any doubt as to her bloodline. A large smile curled over Marinette’s lips, leaving her beaming widely at the catlike woman on her balcony.
“Auntie Selina! Mom’s told me so much about you! Come in, come in, come in! I’ll sneak some macaroons up for you. Or do you prefer croissants? What’s your favorite flavor? Are you really dating Batman? Oh my goodness, that necklace is so lovely! Did you steal it?”
Selina could only chuckle fondly at the word vomit, letting the smaller girl drag her down the trap door and into her very… pink room. Looking around, Selina was once again slapped with just how similar this kid was to her outgoing friend. Marinette clearly had no shame in indulging in the things she liked, such as the color pink and anything regarding fashion. But there were other things amongst the girliness of the room, like the posters of Jagged Stone and the training dummy half-sticking out of her closet door. There were a few ornamental knives hung up behind her computer, seemingly just for decoration although Selina could see that they were definitely battle ready and sharpened. A small mallet, clearly a miniature replica of her mother’s own signature weapon, leaned up against the side of the girl’s laundry basket. But then there was Marinette’s mannequin, which was surrounded by meticulously cut pieces of cloth and had other pieces pinned to it strategically. Marinette clearly had the same professionalism and love for her chosen career that had so completely defined Harley in the Time Before Joker. The same genius intellect hiding in those deceptively cheerful bluebell eyes. And for the first time, though not for the last to be sure, Selina found herself thoroughly relieved that it seemed Marinette had inherited very little from her father.
Except, as she would learn from stories Harley told her later, an apparent affinity for chaos.
“I’m not that picky, kitten. But I’m not that hungry, so don’t go too out of your way,” Selina decided to just react the same way she did with Harley’s rambles, and answer one question at a time. “Also, I am actually dating Bruce Wayne. But, if you promise not to tell anyone—“ she waited for Marinette’s eager nod before continuing casually, “— the two are maybe not as mutually exclusive as many think,” Selina finished with a conspiratorial wink. “No, I actually did not steal this necklace. Bruce has been adamant in trying to curb me of my thieving habit by buying me almost everything I so much as glance at sideways. It’s sweet. Naive, because I like stealing for the fun of it, but sweet.”
Marinette giggled, bouncing in place happily. She loved a bit of innocent gossip like this. “Is Momma Ivy ever gonna visit? I don’t think Mom told her much about me yet, and I still gotta give her the shovel talk!” the fierce look that overcame Marinette’s face made Selina laugh again. Oh yes, definitely her mother’s daughter.
“Pam has been trying to sneak over, but the laws regarding Metahumans in Paris suddenly got much stricter a few months back and have caused some problems. You wouldn’t happen to know what happened, would you?” Selina did not miss when her seemingly innocent question caused her niece to close off almost instantly. Bluebell eyes took on a familiar guardedness, and scanned her with the same soul-searching intensity that Harley had when she was channeling her Psychiatrist side. Selina found herself in a slightly concerning spot though—
Because she couldn’t predict Marinette at all. She was left to simply stand there as Marinette searched for some unidentifiable thing in her eyes, completely unable to read the younger girl’s face and with no idea of what to expect. The side effect of having chaos so thoroughly entwined in both of her biological parents, she supposed.
“Nope, no idea.”
Selina knew that was a lie, but knew equally as well that she would not be getting a better answer anytime soon. So, she let it go and the two of them once again dipped into innocent chatter.
Later that night, when Selina left and the sun threatened to rise at any minute, Tikki flew up from her hiding spot under Marinette’s pillow to land on her holder’s shoulder. Marinette giggled and looked over at her little friend.
“Tikki?”
“Yes, Mari?”
“Why was I chosen to be your holder?” She asked suddenly, flopping back into her bed and staring at her ceiling. The little goddess hummed, smiling knowingly before flying down to cuddle in the crook of Marinette’s neck.
“Because you are born from luck itself. Even when bad things happen, you have the luck and determination to get out just fine, and stronger than before. And despite the destruction and anarchy in your blood, you have the willpower to reign it in and keep control of yourself. That’s all order really is, Marinette. The decision to take all the chaos and madness around us, and make it make sense. Make it do something good. And that’s a large part of who you are, I could feel it in your soul the moment we first met.”
Marinette closed her eyes, biting the inside of her cheek. “What if I lose control?”
“... You’ll just have to get it back. It’ll be hard, but as long as you have people to support you, you will be able to do it. You aren’t evil, Marinette,” the small God seemed to sense the true question her holder was asking, and did her best to soothe the doubt the girl felt. “Just remember the reasons you fight against chaos. Remember everyone you love, and you’ll be okay. And you have me, I’ll always help you.”
“... thank you, Tikki.”
—*—*—*—*—*
“He’s going to find out, Mom.”
“No he won’t, don’t be silly! I’ve been very careful about hiding you from him, Nettie-pie.”
“Mom… I just have a bad feeling. I don’t think we can hide who I am from him. If he sees me, I think he’ll know.”
The phone went silent.
“If he hurts you, I’ll kill him. If I was crazy about him, Sugar, then I’m head over heels for you. Not even he can stop me from caving his skull in if he tries his usual tricks with you.”
“... My plane leaves soon, I’ll talk to you when I land. And mom?”
“Yeah, honeycake?”
“I love you.”
—*—*—*—*—*
It was uncanny just how often Marinette’s hunches were right. Her intuition was something to behold, truly, because it only took three days in Gotham before Joker snatched her right out of her room at Harley and Ivy’s apartment. At least Marinette had sixteen by then, so she had had enough experience as a hero in Paris and with generally unpredictable situations and people who were absolutely nuts for her to not immediately panic. Too much, anyway.
Because there was definitely a little panic there.
See, Marinette knew herself inside out by then. After her own battle with her toxic feelings towards Adrien and doing her best to heal from those before she turned out like her mom, she knew she was by no means mentally indestructible. Mental illness ran the high risk of being inherited, and Marinette was well aware that her own personality was scarily similar to her mother’s at times. She got attached quickly, felt affection and love for others very strongly and, as she found with Adrien, could easily become obsessive if she didn’t watch herself. At least Harley was the perfect person to help with that, and Marinette was serious about helping herself too. She did everything she could to keep an eye on her mental health and keep her behavior in check so she didn’t do anything too unhealthy with her relationships again.
But she knew, she knew she had a soft spot for family. She got attached too easily. And being in the same room as her biological father, despite being tied up by her hands and feet and knowing just how many unforgivable things he had done in his life, Marinette felt vulnerable. She didn’t want to hurt him, despite everything. She still loved him, despite every reason not to, despite her first meeting with him being with him shoving chloroform over her face and hogtying her to a metal chain dangling over a vat of acid.
Geez, she’d need more than just her mom as a therapist after this for sure. Even if her mom had a PH.D, Marinette felt like she’d need several psychiatrists to sort through her emotional turmoil right then and make sense of any of it.
Marinette licked her lips, aware that the only kindness that Joker gave his daughter was sparing her from the discomfort of being gagged.
“Don’t,” Marinette said, surprising herself with the amount of steel she was able to put into her voice. Somehow, she managed to make the single word sound more like an order than a plead. “Joker, put me—“
“Ah-Ah-Ah!” The clown walked over, tutting and waving his finger in the air in almost playful admonishment. He gave her a dramatically fake pout. “Don’t you know it’s disrespectful to refer to your father by his first name?” Neither of them mentioned that Joker was definitely not his real name. They both knew the point was moot. “Say it with me now— ‘Daddy dearest, I am more than willing to be dunked in acid for you,’ go ahead, say it.”
Marinette’s jaw clenched. Familial love or not, she would not tolerate being ridiculed like that. She dealt with enough ridicule when she was fourteen and fifteen during school, before she put Liar Rossi in her place. She had spent the past three years as a hero in charge of the war against Hawkmoth, in charge of protecting all of Paris from an emotional terrorist.
And gee, wasn’t that what Joker was, too? Sure, he was a terrorist in the classic meaning of the word as well, but he was nothing if not a skilled manipulator. He knew the human mind just as well as Harley or any other psychiatrist did, he just used his knowledge for different means. He had emotionally abused Harley for years, he emotionally abused and manipulated people all across gotham on a daily basis. He was just another Hawkmoth, but with more physical violence in place of magic.
With these thoughts strengthening her resolve, Marinette narrowed her eyes at the man who donated half of her DNA. She let her anger boil into her irises, hitting him with one of the few traits she knew she inherited from him.
Her ability to intimidate others on the tip of a hat.
“No,” she growled back at him. She took a deep breath. It had taken her a while, but she refused to be ashamed of who she was regardless of her blood relation. She would have no problem using the very things she inherited from Joker against him. She might have gotten most of Harley’s personality, she might have inherited her mother’s habit of falling in love hard, fast, and obsessively, but she also had Joker’s defiance. His bone-deep inability to be stopped from doing exactly whatever the fuck he wanted.
And then, there were Marinette’s own traits. The ones that were completely her own, developed over her life organically. Like her refusal to bow down to bullies, her creativity, her ability to take even the most chaotic situation and see some sort of balance and sanity in it that she could use to her advantage.
That she WOULD use to her advantage. The shadows she saw move out of the corner of her eye gave her the chance to do exactly that, she just needed to buy a few more seconds. Just a few more seconds.
“Excuse me?” Joker growled right back, his own intimidation, honed over more years than Marinette had been alive and thus much more potent than her own, reading its ugly head as he stalked towards her. His face was pulled down into an ugly snarl, his shoulders tensed and back straight as he glared right at her. From his spot on the metal walkway, he was easily able to reach over the railing and grab her chin in one pale, viciously strong hand. “I think you’re misunderstanding something here, little Marionette. I’m your father. Half of your life came directly from ME. That makes you my puppet. You exist to follow my orders,” his right grip suddenly let go, leaving behind the beginnings of a bruise as his entire demeanor changed from angry to cheerful. He spread his arms as if gesturing to the whole chemical plant victoriously, and an unnaturally large smile curved over his lips and bared yellowing teeth at her. “But that’s okay. I’ll forgive you this time, you haven’t learned any better yet. That’s why we’re here. We need to cleanse you of all those icky bad habits you’ve learned up until now, all you need is a little,” he bounced in place with a wicked smirk to illustrate his next words— “jumpstart. A little acid goes a long way to enlightenment you know, you’ll see my side of things in no time. And with my blood in you, you’ll make a better sidekick than that idiot Harley ever did. I can sense it, you’ve got a real talent for Chaos in you, it’s exciting, Heheeeheheee! Now then, we should probably speed things along before our family reunion is cut short. Hang in there, my little Marionette,” the man actually had the gall to spin in place while humming a tune cheerfully before all but dancing over to the lever that held Marinette’s length of chain in the air over the vat of chemicals below her. “Everything will clear up in that little head of yours in just a second!”
There! Right as Joker pulled the switch to lower her into the bubbling vat underneath her, Marinette was able to finish untying her hands. She couldn’t contain a small yelp as gravity flung her body forward, leaving her upside down on the chain for a brief moment. That was when the chain started lowering rapidly, and Marinette was barely able to rip the rope off of her ankles in time to swing off of it and onto the metal walkway that came up right next to the giant metal container of liquid death and insanity. Joker had barely enough time to shout in rage before the windows near the ceiling shattered, admitting the city’s vigilantes themselves. Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood, Robin, and evening Black Bat all landed on the same metal platform above Marinette’s head that Joker was still on, buying the teen time to start running. But she didn’t go towards the exit right away, instead heading right up the stairs into the thick of the fight. Robin briefly separated from where Joker was managing to hold his own, goons flooding from side doors to inhibit the heroes in their attempt to bring their boss down.
The katana-using vigilante kept one eye on Marinette the whole time, suspicious of why the girl would come back up if not to help her father. But that wasn’t what she did, instead she flipped and kicked and punched her way through the quickly growing sea of Joker thugs until she reached a small pink purse that had been abandoned near the lever that had nearly sent her into liquid insanity. Three thugs surrounded her right as she snatched the purse up and slung it over her shoulder, but Robin barely had the chance to head over before she was heaving the men, who were all easily three times her size, over her shoulder and was slamming elbows into soft spots and the side of her hand into pressure points. By the time Robin got to her side, all three men were unconscious and bound to wake up in utter agony.
Marinette glanced up, getting ready to haul Robin over her shoulder as well before she realized who he was. She let her shoulders relax just a tick, sighing in relief before returning her eyes to scanning their surroundings. She shot him a brief grin.
“Good thing my adoptive mother, Mom, Momma Ivy, and Auntie Selina all made sure I knew how to take down a small army on my own, huh?” She asked rhetorically before they were both unceremoniously dragged back into the giant brawl.
—*—*—*—*—*
“Nettie-pie!”
“Marigold!”
Harley and Pamela Quinzel-Isley shoved down anyone and everyone who dared block their direct path to their daughter. The girl of the hour stood next to the bat clan, a shock blanket held tightly around her shoulders as she did her best to finish her statement to both the vigilantes and Commissioner Gordon.
“You untied yourself… from a ship-grade knot in high quality rope… with a phone charm?” They heard Gordon ask incredulously, to which Marinette could only give a lopsided smile. That was when her mom and stepmom crashed into her, enveloping her in a nearly suffocating hug.
“Gah— mom— momma Ivy—“ Marinette flailed in their arms for a bit before finally getting her head free and continuing her statement as if she didn’t have two of the most dangerous women in the city still giving her a bone crushing hug. “That’s better. Yes, Commissioner. You see, I realized when I was in the car with Joker, while I was pretending to still be unconscious, that one of the charms on my phone had pretty sharp corners that I could use like a serrated edge if I had enough time. So I carefully detached it from my phone, and held it in my palm. It took almost an hour, but once Joker noticed I was awake I kept him talking so that he didn’t notice what I was doing even as he tied me up to that chain. Really, it’s just lucky that I was able to get it worn down in time,” Marinette rubbed the back of her neck with a nervous chuckle. “But regardless, I think Batman and his partners,” she nodded to the listening vigilantes just to the side of her. “Were close enough that I would have been caught anyway, I just wanted to make sure they had less work to do. The sooner I freed myself, the sooner ‘Daddy Dearest,’” she grimaced as she mockingly used the same term Joker had tried to get her to say earlier that night. “Could go back behind bars where he belongs.”
“Oh my little Nettie-cake,” Harley cried, finally pulling back from the hug long enough to wipe her cheeks. It was clear that she had been crying for a while, and her colorful pigtails were mussed and tangled from where she must have been tugging on them in worry. “You were right. I’m so sorry, I never should have let you come to Gotham when I knew he was out of Arkham.”
Marinette was quick to shake her head frantically, pulling her arms out of Ivy’s hold so she could grasp Harley’s shoulders firmly. “No. No, Mom, I’m fine! And besides, we knew I couldn’t stay secret forever. I really like staying with you and Momma Ivy! Everything turned out fine though, and he’s headed back to Arkham. It’s okay.”
“It’s not okay, Nettle,” Pam argued, distracting herself by running her hands through Marinette’s bangs. She had only known the girl for two years, but that was more than long enough for her to consider the teenager as her own. “He took you right out from under our noses. You were supposed to be safe in our home, and he still got to you. That’s not okay. We weren’t able to protect you like we should have been. Maybe you should go back to Paris early.”
“What?! No way!” Marinette argued, eyes wide. “This is the first time I’ve been able to ever visit you guys in Gotham, I’m not letting some psycho sperm donor keep me from enjoying time with my family! I came here knowing full well that it was dangerous. I’m not gonna just run away after one bad experience.”
Harley snorted, and then devolved into uncontrollable giggles. “Heh— psycho sperm donor. Good one, sugar!”
Marinette smiled and rolled her eyes good naturedly at her mom’s usual immature antics. Seeing as Gordon had walked away muttering to himself a short while ago, Marinette pulled herself the rest of the way away from her moms and turned to the vigilantes. Without a second’s pause, she bowed to them just like her Maman Sabine taught her.
“Thank you for helping save me. I know it’s probably a shock that I’ve been kept secret from you guys all this time, but I hope you don’t lump me in with the likes of the green-haired half of my DNA. I’m staying with my Moms in their apartment, if you guys decide to patrol by our place like I suspect, I’ll leave some baked goods and coffee out for you on our patio. It’s the least I can do for you all after tonight. And don’t be too hard on Auntie Selina. Me and Mom swore her to secrecy, even from you guys.”
Batman jerked a little at the mention of Catwoman’s real name, jaw twitching for a second. Behind his cowl, his eyes narrowed. Marinette laughed, easily reading his body language and expression.
“She never told me who you are, but she didn’t exactly hide it either. It was easy to put the last pieces together on my own. But don’t worry, SHE swore me to secrecy too. I won’t tell anyone.
“How the hell are you related to the Laughing Asswipe from Hell?” Red Hood blurted out, his confusion clear even from behind his hideous helmet. Marinette burst into giggles, and both Pamela and Harley smiled knowingly.
“Mom gave me up for adoption when I was born, so I spent my whole life in Paris up until now,” she admitted. “Mom didn’t visit me for the first time until I was eight, and she and my adoptive parents are so awesome that it must’ve suffocated the worst traits from his DNA before they had a chance to develop,” she guessed out loud with a good natured smile.
Batman grunted. Marinette knew that one run-in wasn’t enough for them to trust her. After all, she was still the biological daughter of their arch enemy. But she didn’t mind, she understood the caution even if she didn’t fully agree with it. They weren’t outright hostile, despite the fact that Robin had never stopped glaring at her since they fought back-to-back against the mob of thugs earlier. She could live with their suspicion, as long as they continued to not be outright rude or mean to her.
At least she could empathize with Adrien now, whenever she figured out how to break it to him that Hawkmoth was definitely Gabriel and couldn’t be anyone else. Hopefully she could help soften the blow for him a little.
Harley and Ivy were starting to herd Marinette towards their car and take her back home, where they could continue to smother her in care and make sure she didn’t have even a scratch on her, when Robin’s voice stopped them all in their tracks.
“You are a surprisingly capable combatant.”
Marinette froze, blinking in surprise for a second before turning to stare at Robin in shock. The rest of the Bat Clam was doing the same, nobody expecting Robin of all people to be the first to directly complement Marinette. He tutted, crossing his arms, but never moved his gaze away from Marinette’s eyes.
“But your form could use some work. Most of your style is incredibly improvised, which I can appreciate since you do it well, but you would benefit from more structure in your fighting. I will set up a time and place for us to spar. We start in two days, if you think you can handle it.”
It took a while for what Robin said to sink in, and another few seconds for Marinette to decipher what his semi-aggressive, order-phrased proposal really meant. And she smiled.
“It’s a date.”

Woo! This started off a little rough, but I really like how it ended up! Thank you, Anon!

okay here me out but high school!spn would be hilarious because, y'know, there's the 3 winchester (yes adam is there) and horrible dad john winchester. obivously, mary is dead which is why john in horrible.
BUT, other than the winchesters, there's also the angels, which everyone is also deadass confused about because they're's like 30 of them?? and apparently they're all related, all adopted by birth except the 4 eldest. and the very oldest, michael, raises them, which nobody knows if it's legal or not, but everybody's too afraid to say something.
And, of course, they're's the demons, who are like a bunch of kids who live at an orphanage and hate the angels.
okay that was long and really just me rambling
what i heard was “the angels are like the cullens” and michael is like. very fuck you to any high schooler who brings it up.
also, Michael either looks JUST like that Adam kid OR he looks like apocalypse!michael because that guy was cute and i liked him
OK BUT. HEAR ME OUT.
Mary is NOT dead, but she and John are divorced because John had an affair with Kate Milligan (Adam’s mom) and neither woman knew about the other until Adam’s like. Five or something?
At first Mary and Kate HATE each other, look at that Scheming Conniving Whore who is the Reason I Can’t Have My Man, but then they realize it’s JOHN’S FAULT, and they should unite against the Common Enemy. John has no idea. So the divorce goes through and he’s like, hey Kate can I come stay with you and Adam :) and Kate’s all, actually, you can get fucked, I’m taking my friend out for a celebratory drink, her divorce got finalized.
They’re each a margarita into the night when Mary goes “this is like a date! hah ha just kidding! unless...?”
IT’S NOT A JOKE THEY DATE AND GET MARRIED/CIVIL UNIONED/PARTNERED/SUE THE STATE OF KANSAS and John is just sitting over there, a jackass.
Kate’s a nurse, so she can pretty much support the family because Mary wants to go back to school! And get advanced degrees in like. Mythology or folklore. Idk if Mary went to college in canon? Anyway she’s a farm girl, (for some reason in my head “a family of monster hunters” translates to normal universe as “family farm” idk idk) so maybe she gets some fancy agriculture degrees or becomes a conservationist (Sam being a National Parks nerd??? yes please. he’d sit and help Mary study and he’s been known to hijack tours from Park Rangers but he’s so earnest it’s hard to be mad at him)
they have a crazy amazing garden (adhd!dean helping his mom in the garden??? yes). Mary teaching self-defense classes! Kate teaching the boys advanced first aid! And regretting it! No, Dean, just because you CAN sew up your brother’s wound doesn’t mean you should!
Dean trying to teach Adam and Sam to shave because “i’m the man of the family” and Kate saying “oh sweetie, I’m the man of the family. you get to be a kid of the family, ok?” because let Dean be a child, please, and also, now none of these children understand gender and it’s WONDERFUL. (Adam is the only full time he/him in the house and as much as Dean protects his little brothers, Adam has been known to punch a transphobe or two.
Adam: it’s called DIRECT ACTION, Principal Amara!)
I want to say there’s still a house fire when Sammy’s a baby, but obvs Mary doesn’t die, she just has severe burns? (makes John cheating even MORE of a douche thing but idk) anyway this plus Kate being a nurse, I could see Adam being into physical therapy or counseling or something when he gets older?
also random thought but Mary and Kate host the BEST halloween parties. they go all out. Their best costume so far is Harley/Ivy.
I KEEP FORGETTING WHERE I’M GOING WITH THIS
This means Mary’s the one who knows Bobby (and his husband Rufus) via hunting and Gay Advocacy and their extensive collection of rare texts that are tangentially related to Mary’s work somehow
Mary and Kate become big advocates for legalization of sex work.
the Angel Kids family are from a SUPER religious upbringing. obviously. probably. more like a cult honestly. Cas and Anna straight-up ran away when they were 13 ish. They MIGHT have convinced their dad to sign some papers when he was drunk which is how they were able to get emancipated. Sort of?
They track down their older brother Gabe, who left the family as soon as he was old enough to strike out on his own, but once Anna and Cas leave, all their other siblings sort of come trailing after them (Balthazar first) to find them and take care of them, so Gabe all of the sudden goes from livin the single life to co-parenting twenty siblings with his OTHER siblings, who he can’t STAND and he somehow became the Rules Parent because Luci isn’t going to enforce shit! That asshole! When Uriel finally gets out Gabe is like thank fuck I’m leaving now. When Michael finally gets to them, Gabe is in Shock. “Holy fuck, what did dad DO that was bad enough to make YOU leave?? dude???”
(I want Gabe and the Archangel Brigade to be in their late 20s/early 30s when Cas and Co. are in high school because Gabe absolutely works in porn. Michael gets all self-righteous with him and Gabe glares. “First of all. This is my house, so, you know, fuck off. Second of all, are you going to support this family? No? Yes? With what? the last job you had was CO-LEADING A CULT.” Uriel is working as an electrician while taking meteorology courses.)
who is in charge of the Demon Kids? Rowena or Lilith, maybe? or CAIN. CAIN!!!
The Harvelles absolutely make an appearance. I’m tempted to say that Mary and Kate look at Ellen and go “her. we want her” and it’s a band of badass women and their badass children.
it’s VERY important to me that Dean is a theatre nerd. VERY IMPORTANT. He and Sam might play basketball just because of their height, but I don’t know that they enjoy it that much. Sam’s more of a lacrosse or soccer guy. Adam’s into hockey (little rage monsters that they are)
idk it depends on ships that you want? Because high school age Crowley being Dean’s Bad Boy Boyfriend is pretty primo comedy, imo, and you would work in the Leviathans as a rival high school or even as new kids? And of course Michael/Adam Sam/Lucifer don’t work in a hs au with the archangels aged up the way I have? You could have the Older Sibling Angels Be Gabe, Balthazar, and Naomi, with Naomi being the one leaves last, who was helping Chuck with his cult (which leaves more room for Michael to be a himbo)
for the record I’m not OPPOSED to a John is a Good Dad AU. I just like AUs where I can Unfridge All the Women
WOW i had a lot of feelings about this. oops.
