this isn’t to dig on ur anti zutara post but rather start a discussion.

in my experience, the reason we zutarians don’t like zukka is because of the animosity we get from the fandom. we analyze the subtle details we are given because practically every zuko and Katara interaction in the show is because all of them save the first have some degree of zutara in it. their chemistry- be it platonic or romantic- is undeniable.

and yet, we are told by zukkas and kataangers that we are wrong for shipping the ship. a lot of zukkas sideline the women in atla- sokka is given a lot of Katara’s qualities that are stated in the show (ie: people claiming that sokka is the team dad when he literally confessed that he saw Katara more as his mother than his actual mother), mailee is just there (majority of the mailee fics on ao3 are just them being a side couple in zukka fics), and not to mention comradekatara’s posts from back when they were lesbians4sokka about Katara being homophobic. even if it was a joke, it was something that people took seriously. a lot of the same zukkas are the ones making fun of katara for talking about her mother’s death when that literally happened three times outside of the southern raiders episode.

dont get me wrong, I know that the zutara fandom was absolutely rabid in the early 2000s and that’s where we get our bad reputation, but the only time that we’ve had issues with other people in the atla fandom was when they interacted with our content and it blew up.

Honestly you make some points I agree and disagree with so I'll go one paragraph at a time

I do agree that some zutirans get hate that isn't deserved. I definitely think that a lot of the fandom doesn't like zutartians, I'm part of that group as well (for the most part). I also do think they have chemistry, but more in a way that's more like family rather than lovers.

I think the over-analyzing is a bit too much, I'm overwhelmed every time I see a zutara post. Obviously, some analyzing is okay, I sometimes analyze ships, but I feel like zutartians do it sm that it feels kind of annoying?? Maybe that's just me, but I feel like you don't have to analyze things just to justify your ship. Just ship what you like

I agree with the fact that zukka shippers tend to sideline women in fics. I've def read fics where katara is sort of villanized, and I definitely don't agree with that. Idk if it's bc we're in different parts of the fandom, but I've never really seen ppl say that shipping zutara is wrong?? I've seen ppl say they don't like it, and why, but they always state that they don't care if people ship zutara and that they're only stating reasons they personally don't like it.

Perhaps it's because I tend to stay away from the more toxic part of the community because if I see smth I don't like I more often than not just scroll past. But I def believe that their are zukkas who are toxic, but I think some of that is just because ppl are toxic, no matter what fandom you're in.

I can't really speak on kataangers because while I do like the ship, I'm not really in that part of the fandom, so I'm not sure if ppl are unnecessarily mean to zutarians.

"i'm your man" belongs to edgeworth. "i'm your man" is a perfect representation of edgeworth's reflection on the turnabout goodbyes case. i'm your man is the perfect illustration of edgeworth's feelings both about himself and phoenix at the end of aa1. just please hear me out.

without further ado here is my somewhat unhinged analysis of edgeworth's mind in between turnabout goodbyes and rise from the ashes using lyrics from mitski's new song "i'm your man" as reference.

"you're an angel and i'm a dog"

edgeworth is obviously in a very bad place mentally after being arrested. he has to relive and reevaluate the source of his trauma on top of having everyone who looked up to him / liked him turn on him. but like a guardian angel, phoenix comes down to help him when no one else will. he, as edgeworth will repeatedly remind us in-game, "saved him." but why, he thinks, would an angel like phoenix care to save something so insignificant as a dog like him?

"or you are a dog and i'm your man"

now we flip the narrative... kind of. or rather recontextualize it. phoenix wright is completely devoted to miles edgeworth in the same way that one might compare a dog to its man. "man's best friend" is the embodiment of phoenix wright, it doesnt matter that they didn't talk for so many years and it doesn't matter that when they did reconnect in court there was some initial animosity. the fact of the matter is that phoenix's utter dedication to edgeworth's wellbeing transcends time, like a loyal dog ready to give pure unconditional love.

"you believe me like a god"

going back to turnabout goodbyes, pretty much everyone has given up on edgeworth, including edgeworth. and yet, even when edgeworth was literally confessing to the murder of his father, phoenix still truly believes in edgeworth's innocence. phoenix's worship, his complete devotion to this man he hasn't spoken with in over 15 years, would seem absurd to any onlooker. hell, these men are rivals. ("right nick? rivals!") and yet, as if belonging to a religious fanatic, phoenix's faith in edgeworth never falters. this, to repeat my previous wording, further recontextualizes the first statement. edgeworth is a dog. he sees himself in an extremely negative light, completely undeserving of the label "god." nothing makes sense about phoenix. what redeeming qualities could miles edgeworth, fallen prosecutor and murderer, possibly have that such a divine (angelic) man like phoenix would put faith into him?

"i destroy you like i am"

it would be easy to say that this is about their battles in court but lets be fr. edgeworth was definitely not doing any destroying during his cases against phoenix. rather i think we can delve deeper into edgeworth's self-loathing and feelings of inadequacy.

would it be oversimplifying things to say that phoenix became a lawyer solely for edgeworth? no sure. obviously there were some other factors. but like... bffr. the main reason was undeniably edgeworth. this isn't debatable lol. and i think edgeworth, oblivious as he may be to literally anything else, knows this. he knows this and thinks it makes him a burden. he is not worth the stress, the work, the dedication, and especially not the love of phoenix wright. in somewhat of a self-aggrandizing manner, he thinks he's destroying phoenix's life by forcing him to spend so much time and effort saving him.

"i'm sorry i'm the one you love"

pretty self explanatory. edgeworth cannot possibly comprehend the fact that he is deserving of love. he is not in a position to accept phoenix's love, hell, he was not in a position to accept phoenix's help at the start of the trial—how could he possibly accept the love of an angel who treats his dog self like a god? (pretend that was profound or smth idk) edgeworth hasn't even fully wrapped his head around the full implications of his developing unnecessary feelings towards phoenix. there's no way—even though i think of them both sensed their romantic tension—that they could have ended up in any romantic situation at that point in their relationship. could they have been involved sexually at this point? maybe? i guess so? but romantic?? no way, they're both wayyyy too emotionally constipated for that shit.

"no one will ever love me like you again"

he's right. im kind of a broken record at this point but phoenix's dedication is simply too much for edgeworth at this time. there's just no way edgeworth can feel good about himself after everything he's done / thinks he's done to phoenix.

"so when you leave me i should die / i deserve it don't i"

i recently saw a post where someone said the reason miles didn't tell phoenix abt dl-6 initially was because he couldn't risk losing phoenix's trust. i mostly agree, but i think part of it was to protect phoenix and not cause any more work for him. edgeworth knows how deep dl-6 goes, how weird and convoluted it was; and i think he especially knows that he would feel even worse about himself if he threw such a heavy case onto phoenix. but phoenix is stubborn and miles knows this. once phoenix is set on saving him there's nothing more for him to do other than tell the truth. (or rather, what he perceives to be the truth.)

phoenix saves edgeworth and edgeworth is extremely grateful, but... at the same time he feels like he is only complicating things further between phoenix and himself. not that he would ever express any of this of course. i mean come on, this is aa1 edgeworth, we're getting cryptic gay one liners and that's it.

+ in regards to the whole "choosing death" thing, i think the seed was planted almost immediately after turnabout goodbyes and the events of rise from the ashes were just the catalyst for him to actually act on them. both cases involve edgeworth having an identity crisis; while phoenix just fucking existing in his vicinity lowkey started said crisis turnabout samurai is when we really see the relationship between them develope. (i don't think i have to say why *cough* "saddled with unnecessary... feelings" *cough cough* ) this is the beginning of edgeworth's growing trust, admiration, and eventual love for wright.

"i can feel it getting near / like flashlights coming down the way"

"it" is the truth. as phoenix picks away at the bonkers bullshit insanity of dl-6, he gets closer to discovering what miles is already suspecting, that miles killed gregory edgeworth. but miles values truth above all else and he's willing to risk a guilty verdict in favor of honesty.

i think another reason why he transparent from the beginning was because there was part of him that was projecting his old ways onto phoenix—if he withholds this testimony then phoenix can get another win. this is what he had his own witnesses do in previous trials. but wow! character development! and now edgeworth is trying to do the (w)right thing regardless of the outcome of the trial—he knows telling phoenix about killing gregory will completely fuck up phoenix's case but he needs to anyway because it's the moral thing to do.

but for the billionth time, phoenix has such complete faith in edgeworth anyway that it doesn't fucking matter if he full on admits to killing his dad. because "nuh uh, you're not the kinda guy who'd do that even accidentally"—phoenix. honey. you've only known miles for like a few months in elementary school + spoken like... what, twice in court? you barely fucking know this guy phoenix, and yet you're somehow fucking right and it it turns out he didn't even shoot his father after all? what the fuck parrot. what the fuck phoenix. he's so hopelessly gay for edgeworth like they're so insanely homosexual omfg bruh... idiot gayass lawyers

"one day you'll figure me out"

another double meaning. phoenix already has figured out the truth of the case but not the truth of edgeworth's feelings. edgeworth, having seen phoenix's remarkable ability to discover the truth, falsely assumes he will be able to know things about miles that he has no way of knowing. i think this is why he worded his "suicide note" the way he did. he didn't anticipate that phoenix would refuse to think about it altogether. this is the phoenix who after initially losing edgeworth 15 years ago dedicated so much of his time trying to find out what happened to edgeworth. so it was somewhat reasonable to assume phoenix would try to track him down again. but little did he know that phoenix's grief and heartbreak would overpower any possibility of him finding the truth on his own.

"i'll meet judgment by the hounds"

phoenix, the hound, phoenix, whose dedication to edgeworth borders on stupidity at times, whose love for edgeworth despite all his flaws is a main drive for his career and eventually most of his life...

edgeworth is torn between wanting to live up to phoenix's perception of him and wanting to prove phoenix wrong in his admiration. regardless, phoenix's judgement is at the crux of it all.

furthermore, the actual meaning of the lyric was in reference to being sent to hell. if we go with this interpretation hell could be read as edgeworth's mind in the detention center before the first trial. phoenix's assessment of edgeworth's circumstances and insistance on defending him even when no one else would is another example of his dog-like loyalty.

"people always gave me love / others were never to blame after all"

von karma was basically a second father to young miles. he took this orphan in, showed "compassion," raised him and trained him to be the prosecutor he is today... just so he could pettily watch miles' downfall. i think miles blames himself for letting himself be manipulated by von karma. even though his behavior was a symptom of the 15 years of abuse and manipulation, edgeworth thinks of his younger self as a disgusting reflection of von karma and feels like an awful man for achieving the fame/notoriety he had through von karma's tactics. like imposter syndrome. because he idolized von karma so blindly he thinks he is still somehow responsible for the events of both dl-6 and turnabout goodbyes.

"you believe me like a god / i betray you like a man"

at the end of the day, edgeworth is not a dog or a god. he is literally just some guy. he's human, flawed, emotional; logical, illogical; he's contradictory and complicated and so much more because to be human is to be confusing. to be human is to make mistakes. to edgeworth, this is all completely unacceptable. he can't be "just some guy" if he needs to be a god. especially because it betrays his perception of how phoenix perceives him.

((ik this isn't really supposed to be about rfta but it feels relevant and this is my post so smd i can do what i want) in rfta, when edgeworth wrote his note, he obviously knew how dramatic his diction was and i think there was a tiny part of him that predicted phoenix's real reaction to the letter, but he rationalized that thought away using the justifications i mentioned earlier. he betrayed phoenix by not staying in japanifornia and avoiding facing everything that was happening head on.)

tl;dr: phoenix loves edgeworth but edgeworth hates himself (shocker!!)

Freddy knows you like him and idk puts up a scenario of a school environment cuz he found out you'd enjoy it or smth xd

Warnings: Freddy being himself, rather forced confession, suggesting of smut (just a little hehe)

You found yourself on your seat in your classroom. The fact that you were all alone wasn't the only odd thing you noticed. For an unknown reason you had a schoolgirl uniform on. A white bottom-up t-shirt with a deep blue collar, a matching blue skirt with two white stripes on the hem, a red scarf tie, a pair of long white socks and shiny black shoes. The skirt was way too short and could barely reach your knees.

Suddenly you heard ear-splitting noise. You covered your ears and turned your head to see what made such awful sound. The chalkboard. A chalk wrote by itself to the board. The sentence made you shiver. It read: "Learning is fun WITH FREDDY!". So you were in a dream, like you had already assumed.

Your mind rushed as you tried to think a way to escape the burnt asshole before it was too late. You decided to leave the building as quickly as possible. You got up from your seat and headed to the door but managed only to take a few steps before the door opened.

There stood Freddy with a big grin on his thin lips. His clothes weren't the usual neither. He had a red and green striped sweater west, a white bottom-up shirt beneath that, dark brown pants that were surprisingly clean looking, leather boots, and a red and green bow tie. You gulped taking a step back. On the right side of his west he had a name tag that said: Mr. Krueger, the headmaster.

"Well, well. Ms. (L/n) isn't trying to leave the detention, is she?" Freddy's tone was rather teaseful and it was obvious that he enjoyed the situation.

"What is this shit? I just want to sleep," you said as another shiver went down your spine. Freddy lurked closer.

"Ah, ah. Mind your tone," he smirked. You glared him.

"What's with these costumes?" you asked, mainly to play time to plan an exit. This time he chuckled.

"I figured you'd like this sort of stuff," he answered, with an amused tone.

"Just what are you talking about? Why would I 'like this sort of stuff'?" you spoke, getting more annoyed of the male in front of you.

"There's nothing to be ashamed of, sweet-cheeks. I did my re-search, and Dolly, you're an open book full of messy fantasies like this one," Freddy couldn't have looked more proud of himself. His words made you blush again.

"F-fair enough, but that doesn't mean I want anything to do with you," the escape plan was the last thing on your mind at that moment. You wanted desperately to know how much he knew. He took some steps towards you and was only a few feet apart.

"Ah, yes. I also found out another interesting thing about you. Tell me, what kind of person has feelings towards the man who kills her friends?" you mentally face-palmed. This really was your nightmare...

"Y-you're out of your mind..." you murmured, not being able to look at him in the eyes.

He took yet another step, closing the cap between you two. His hot breath brushed against your right ear as he whispered: "Am I?". His tone wasn't threatening, but rather serious, like he wanted you to admit it to him. 'Not going to happen!' you thought.

You huffed, changing the subject; "Where did you leave the glove?"

Freddy smirked again. If you wanted to play hard to get he was more than happy to play with you. "You'll be a good little girly and we won't need it, won't we?" he answered.

You shook your head. "Just like that," he grinned cockily, "Shall we begin the detention?"

"Whatever." you spoke. If you just keep him preoccupied long enough, you'll get to sleep and he won't try to kill you the whole night...

"Excellent! First up, you'll have to answer a few questions. A simple yes or no will do fine. And before we start, if your answer is wrong, a piece of clothing you're wearing disappears. Are you ready?"

What an absolute ass...

"Yeah, bring it on," you answered grumpily. It was true that you had feelings for him, for a reason you didn't even know yourself, but did he still have to be such dick?

"The first question goes; Are you a virgin?" his eyes flickered at excitement. Yup, he was a full-time dick.

"I'm not a virgin, Freddy," you rolled your eyes, but couldn't help but blush a little. Actually, you were one, but you didn't want to say it out loud to the bastard.

"It's Mr. Krueger to you, and your answer was... Wrong!"

The red tie you had disappeared. How on earth did he know these things? "Alright! I am! Asshole..." the last word you murmured quietly.

"I heard that. Say goodbye to your socks!" he laughed. The son of a bitch just laughed at you. Your socks were gone, and so were your shoes.

"The second question; Are you attracted to me?" he had such shit-eating grin on his face...

"I... Yes..." you mumbled.

"I can't hear you," his voice was full of enjoyment and self-satisfaction.

"Yes! Just quit clowning around and kiss me already!" you shouted before you realized and quickly covered your mouth with your hand.

"With pleasure, princess!" he answered taking your hand from your mouth, and pressing his burnt lips against yours. You huffed, kissing him back. He licked your lips before biting the lower one gently enough. Needless to say you were a blushing mess afterwards.

"Are you ready for the final question?" Freddy asked with a huge grin.

"Yeah.." you said, still being a little dumb-founded about what had just happened.

"Okay, here it goes; Should we take this further?" so that's why he was having such big grin about...

"N-no I think I'm fine..." you said as your face flushed again. Before you knew it, your shirt was gone.

"Gee, you really should quit lying. It's a nasty habit for a Sweetheart like yourself..."

though at least he had some luck to have some friends there for him—especially having you around. you weren't the most expressive, quite like miss eula, yet did what you can to show your appreciation for the friendship others have made with you throughout your journey. sure, your expressions (or, therefore lack of) were difficult to read but bennett couldn't care less—he knows you care.

and he kind of likes that aspect of you.

bennett knew you wouldn't be here on mondstat for long since you and the traveller have a long way to go until the traveller has found their long sibling, yet he secretly wishes to have you stay here for a little longer than the intended time.

though he isn't good with it, but he tries to. however yet clearly, love wasn't within his reach as lady luck never seems to stick around him.

he longs for the way you give subtle feather light touches to person you're fond of. he longs the extra quick glances you give the oblivious individual when they're not focusing on you. he longs for your careful and gentle words of affirmation and reassurement. he longs the softened gaze you fixate on the person beside you, seated slightly a bit closer than intended yet making no movement to shuffle away. he longs for that expression you don, your checks lightly flushed and batting your lashes as you glance to the side a few times but not too obvious to be pointed out so quickly by your crush.

a vibrated hum coming from you was what bennett got as a response, signalling him to continue whatever he'll tell you while as you efficiently work on a report that is needed to be done soon—of course, you don't waste time to do your paperwork almost immediately.

behind you awkwardly stood bennett, ears and checks flushing in such shade of pinkish red that one would assume he might be ill from travelling through dragonspine just to get to your current location, where'd you be inside your work quarters. y'know, working. but fortunately, the boy luckily wasn't sick with a cold he could've accidentally caught.

“err...” bennett starts uneasy and not sure with whether if he should say it or should he not, nervous with uncertainty of how you'd reply and possibly express about—you're quite unpredictable, after all.

for once you blink almost dumbfoundedly and halted the movements of your hand that firmly grasps the quill pen, an inch away from creating another black stroke against the paper's flat surface. with how he spoke with such haste, you didn't quite catch what he nervously chirped out loud, but yet you still managed to piece together what he'd been attempting to say. he doesn't notice the way you nonchalantly stare at the almost finished report before you, considering your back is faced towards him.

“... you like me?”

“yeah,” bennett shuffles nervously, his body swaying a little as he glances down at the floor, “i like you. I really do.” he repeats it again, voice trailed off at the end like he's mumbling instead and you quietly blink at one random spot on the paper that you were staring at, the pause in the conversation stretching too long to be even considered comfortable.

hm, huh? ... wait, just ‘hm’? is that all? bennett's questions all were left unanswered because, well, he was internally monologuing after all. who would even hear him and his scattered thoughts besides a mind reader? not that there is one that he knows of.

“well,” you begin after clearing your throat, just to break the silence yet you still don't turn your back to even glance at him, “it must've ache to have feelings for me while having the knowledge of my romantic interest focused on a different individual.”

yeah, it did. “uhm, yeah. i do know that you have feelings for someone else..-”

“yet you still decided to tell? knowing of the expected rejection either way?”

after finishing the last words of your report, you stop writing and change your position in your seat to where you can face bennett so you can confront him properly.

“look at me,” you state to the boy with a head of short pale hair whose eyes were directed downwards at his feet, as if too embarrassed to look at you with a proper gaze—or perhaps he didn't listen to your words at all as he probably was too focused on his scrambled thoughts circulating crazily in his head.

your own eyes squint at this, facial expression staying unchanged but you seem to appear a bit impatient as you lowly utter to him, “look at me properly, bennett.”

said boy's head shoots up at his name being called out, looking alarmed at the tone you used and you, unfazed, took this as a sign to continue.

“i don't reciprocate your feelings—” well, he already expected that kind of response. “—and I consider that it is good that you've told me, about your interest in me that were previously contained but now let out to someone who can be trusted with whatever you were hiding.”

“it's good to not bottle up your own emotions, and I'd feel guilty if it took you some lasting time till you had the courage to inform me of your romantic feelings. i hope you'd seek for someone else who'll appreciate you as much i do.” with a ghost of a sincere smile on your face, bennett goes quiet. he takes in all of your words into some deep thoughts and consideration. you're reasonable with your words and quite considerate, you're like that with most people you'd come across—depending on your overall mood.

(as your friend, bennett also knows about the... (over)protective trait that you possess; and there wasn't a time he could recount of you showing even the slightest ounce of hesitancy whenever a friend of yours is in anything that could and would be considered a sign of danger.

he still recalls the day he'd been verbally insulted by a guy who wasn't content with what bennett unintentionally had done this time caused by his own bad luck—only for said guy to abruptly stop the moment he saw you standing from behind bennett and glaring at his direction with a look in your eye that silently indicates, “shut the fuck up,” while holding what seems to be a bowl containing mysterious and possibly not-so harmless glowing thick liquid that had bubbles forming and popping at the surface. the smell was toxic, even from a mile away one could still sense the scent of the smell—that was how bennett knew you were right behind him when he saw the guy suddenly freeze up on the spot).

bennett understands why you'd prefer not to be with some boy given the burdening gift of bad luck (even if that actually wasn't the case—you're mostly unfazed), he still is upset but at least you politely turned him down than outrightly declining him on the spot.

“I do have my hopes up of being your friend still,” you added, to which bennett briefly nods at before lightly shaking his head and waving hand side-to-side as if to decline such thing.

“no no- of course we'll stay as friends! i'm glad that you let me down that lightly there and didn't feel disgusted when I told you that.”

you shake your own head as well, “nonsense. why would i ever act irrationally? to something such as that? i have encountered few people throughout my travels where they'd attempt to do the same thing as you did, but i would always be certain and straightforward when refusing to reciprocate their attraction towards me. making immoral decisions is not my cup of tea.”

his hands subconsciously fidget with his glove's fingertips as he dons a small smile featuring on his lips, a short chuckle almost coming out of him if he weren't trying to stop it while he listens to every word you speak from you heart. gazing up, bennett turns to you, “yeah, thanks.. i'll be going off now, see you later.”

in response, you pay him one last nod before turning your back to give attention to your work once again as you utter a “shut the door as you go.” under your breath. the boy does what you asked; he left the room and closed the door in the process, the steps of his boots are muffled and grow quieter the further away he is from your door.

... yeah, perhaps only in his fantasies will that ever appear to exist, he supposes. he still likes you, even after accepting the fact that you'll never see him in that perspective.

His route wasn't even that bad? 😅 Yall r pissed bc he got treated like shit in his route (yeah, bc he hurted his brothers. He blinded Laito and broke Kanato’s leg. Accidentally or whatever.) What everyone has already known is the S boys' relationship is trash from the begining, ofc they'll act like that? Kanato the one who will scream at your face and treat you with the "idc what tf your reason is i want YOU to take responsibility" and Laito who has grudges with Ayato all the way at the begining? Then comes Reiji who tried so hard for years to become the leader/ leader's right hand man just to serve a person he view as narrow and incompetent (bruh idk about Kanato but everyone else' has something that makes others respect them for. In the Sakamaki family. Shu's smart and know how to act like a big bro when needed, Reiji's a strategist and has been studying to be the heir for years, Laito's intelligent af, and Subaru is the purest among vampires, it’s will be pretty hard to explain this now but all i can say is “it’s smth related to politics in the DL world”), with the last straw being that one hurting his own people? They stand out. Yes. Because what people like, isn't just sweet moments and fanservices. They long for new things. Creativity. Ayato's route has both of these. Decent amount of sweet moments with Yui, a tear he never shed. So not too much Overall, balance 👍.

II. “The M boys are so narrow-minded when they be like “Aristocrats this aristocrats that” to the S boys, S boys went through traumas too”

THEY-WON’T-KNOW?????? If the S boys don’t share????? Where do you think they’d get that information from? Karl casually telling his surbonates “I traumatized my sons”? The players, aka us, know about their pasts because Rejet puts them in every opening of the prolouge/ epilogues, so we can read their thoughts, sympathize with them, whatever, but can the M boys/ any other boys see them too? You finish the puzzle.

(Trivial matter, if my memories is correct M boys, (for example Kou) have been showing sympathy everytime S boys told them something about their past (in that drama cd where 2/3 of the triplet doing recalls about Cordi’s cooking)).

In conclusion, the “narrow-minded” one is the one saying the similar statement above. ^^

III. There’s no “main character” in otome games.

I don’t think i have to explain the reason, since someone has already said that out loud (“If there’s one “main character”, what are the other 12 for?”, i recall) And i thought everyone knows this already. Because there’s has already been a term for that in the otoge community, being “posterboy”. Yes. The one appearing in almost every posters, the one having the most screentime if the project has an anime adaption, whose cd is the 1st ever to be released. Ect. So. Let’s talk about Young Blood. I see a lot of people thinks that “Oh the story revolves around Ayato and Karl in this manga favors Ayato more than any other sons of his. He must be the main character. If otherwise, why didn’t they make 5 more mangas?” Have you ever thought about how making 5 more manga, with the same plot would spill the budget and no company is dumb enough to not realize that so they just do one that revolves around their representative aka the posterboy and let their audiences do the math that if we change to other boys’ perspective the story would go on the same way (with some tiny events/ details being changed?)

IV. Nothing much. I’m just a little disappointed on how most people i’ve seen here have nothing to say about but how “nice and helpful” the boys is (judging characters based on their moral. I mean there’s more to talk about than just that?)

I agree with what you said about past lives. Theres one scene that kind annoyed me that made the movie feel ??? and it's when they are talking via skype and she says something like "you are an stupid korean and now i'm an american who goes after things" that felt a bit xenophobic to me

i think i know what you're referring to... i will say the line/sentiment didn't stand out to me while watching but at the same time i'm kinda skeptical of the movie's narrative/framing around immigration — the whole sense of nora as this twice immigrant who is therefore always striving, while haesung is presented as kinda static (even with the bit where he does exchange in shanghai) and def more rooted in the past. nora's description of haesung being "very korean" plays into the same thing like it feels reductive if that makes sense... and i think part of the problem is that the film has so few characters that we don't rly get perspectives/experiences beyond these two and therefore they almost come to stand in for A korean-american and A korean. like there is definitely smth to be said about cultural difference but as you say, the way it's done isn't the greatest framing. if anything the movie could have unpacked how migrating shaped greta Specifically -> in turn added to how she is able to stay/be content when it comes to arthur. bc i did appreciate the part about how nora is different in relation to haesung and arthur and specifically occupied a role as one who leaves vs stays. idk! i've had the film described as very asian american (not as a compliment) so there is this. but then again other friends who disliked it have also tried in different ways to pinpoint what key experience we are missing that led to being underwhelmed lol. sorry for such a rambling response.

Now are there times that society tends to skew what we find pretty, cute or cool looking that could be detrimental to others, yeah, but I'll admit it, I too enjoy an occasional sim with big goobery eyes, and a colorful outfit, it reminds of Animal Crossing, and I like Animal Crossing.

Followers. Some accounts got a lotta them, that means a lot more people will see their content, which means a lot more people will probably like it too. Though seeing as this is tumblr, and bots and lurker accounts are a thing, there will likely still be an offset in follower count to note count. I've got about 3,000 rn, and I average about 50-100 notes without reblogs, but can pull more of it does get reblogged.

Friends. Believe it or not, interacting with other humans will draw other humans to interact with you and your content, that's kind of a given, although if you don't want to do all that, you could always just learn to make really bomb ass CC, and let that draw followers in to look at your non-cc content, but I'm gonna be honest, even that isn't guaranteed. I've seen plenty of cc creators post about how they feel people only interact with their cc posts, and never their other stuff.

Social Media is a slot machine. Really when it comes down to it, it's luck, posting the right thing at the right time, yet never knowing when that'll be, this is also why ppl do time-zone reblogs. I ran a side-blog that was just my other gaming content, and it was like crickets for years, until Until Dawn was released, and I just happened to jump at buying it that day. I was posting content for it as it was at the height of its popularity. This meant more eyes scrolling the tags, which meant more thumbs to possibly like my posts. Timing and patience is so important on social media, especially when you're throwing content into a void. There were a lotta ppl getting hella notes when the infants dropped, bc it was this huge thing a lot of ppl were excited for, even ppl who don't consider themselves a simblr... but the hype only lasts so long, esp these days, and you've probably noticed lately things have kinda slowed down for a lotta ppl, but that's alright, the real ones always stick around, let's take a moment to appreciate them.

Sometimes you just gotta hype up your own shit. Idk, I learned this from a YouTuber, so take it with a grain of salt, but when they began actively reminding ppl to like, and subscribe, and began hyping up their upcoming content and streams, it helped engagement a lot. Ppl are drawn to positive ppl, it's just more fun for everyone.

This shit isn't magic, there's always a pretty logical reason why these posts get hella notes whether you agree with why or not, just like how there are posts that don't get hella notes that absolutely deserve more, whether you agree with why or not.

Yesterday my therapist was like "ok so last session you said [shit I do not relate to or think like at all]" which was weird. Usually I feel like barriers aren't so high that I don't even know what they're talking about. And we tried to do this thing where they were like "so what if you did feel this thing what would you tell yourself?" And I'm like I have nooo idea really. Because apparently I was really like, anxious about the way people see and perceive me in drag which isn't something I ever really worry about at all. It's one of my big strengths that I don't give a shit about that stuff. People will have their opinions of me and I don't really care what they are.

So my therapist relayed some stuff I apparently said like "what if people hate me?" And "what if I let things get to my head and I'm a dick about it?" To which I was like. So what if they do? So what if I am??? I've been a dick before I'll be a dick again life goes on we grow as people yadda yadda. Like I can't even really comprehend feeling that way or worrying about that stuff because it seems silly to worry about. It's like worrying if there will be rain tomorrow. Maybe there will maybe there won't but either way I can't stop it or make it happen.

Anyway my therapist said at the very end of session (like five minutes over time actually) that that part has come to session before a couple times. Not every time they said, but somewhat frequently. They gave a few other details, like that that part really needed reassurance and wouldn't really cooperate with grounding checks (stuff like "what would make you think that") and was just really anxious but didn't want to use the word anxious. It was really hard to make them feel any better. I really really wanted to ask them how they could tell it was a part, because I'm like. Always surprised when people can tell that kind of stuff (even though I've been told by other psychs I'm pretty overt.) But it was over time so I wanted to like respect their time and all.

Oh also when my therapist said smth along the lines of "how does it make you feel when I tell you that this is super not what you said before" (as in, hey dude that was parts stuff probably!) I said that I don't really feel anything about it because they're my therapist and it's their job to like. Tell me stuff like that. Like it would be weird if some rando told me "hey dude it looks like you're constipated" but if it was like, a gastroenterologist telling me that it's normal because that's their job. My therapist said that was really different too.

Anyway I'm sorta -_- only because IDK who that is that's saying that stuff at therapy. Like it could be a part I know but I can't really think of who. It doesn't super feel like it matches up with any of the parts I know of, even the ones who are like, IDK sad/anxious/etc. Like my best guess would be Tomas but IDK it doesn't feel exactly like him. He's more grounded and usually responds pretty well to grounding questions because he's super logical like that.

i think there are a couple items you need to check off the list before you can go "yes talking to internet stranger #37461239 about a highly sensitive topic is a good idea"

is it tagged appropriately? if it's tagged trust me the writer knows. they have probably gotten way more unsolicited feedback than they would really like

is the portrayal you're concerned about reinforcing an unhealthy or discriminatory predominant social narrative? if it is and you think the writer is genuinely unaware, then yeah, it might be worth bringing up. the emphasis here is on predominant please i am begging on my hands and knees

will this result in a productive conversation? if the intent behind this is to get people to reconsider, it isn't helping anyone if you know it will just lead to them doubling down and doing it even worse. at that point you're only making a performative statement to validate your own stance

if it really is bothering you that much, is there a compelling reason why you can't just block and move on? it isn't your responsibility nor is it feasible to fix how a fandom is doing things, especially if it's a group of people you don't really know. your own mental health always comes first, and a bit of salty venting in private with your friends never hurts anyone

if it IS a friend or acquaintance who is doing this and you think they would be open to discussing it with nuance, then you can probably bring it up. if that person has a basic level of consideration and respect for you it tends to go well, but i've also seen people double down because they already know there's something wrong with their attitudes but get mad at you for wanting them to change, and then it creates a whole ton of drama and people get hurt and it's not pretty. so. ymmv

ultimately, someone's views on racism or sex work or whatever is reflective of a broader social norm, and fandom is not the best space to try to fix that through confrontation-- it's usually someone's "safe space" where they want to retreat from the world, not come face-to-face with any sort of personal reckonings. do i think it's a mark of privilege that some people have the luxury of ignoring these issues when they "just want to have fun"? yes, but again, this is about being able to have productive discussion, not about what's "fair". unfortunately.

my two cents: if you're in a server community or some other space that makes you uncomfortable there's really nothing wrong with going "hey, we have fundamentally different standards when it comes to [x], and i don't think i want to be here" and moving on. the best way to challenge these things is quite literally to make your own food. there's a much better chance of the people you're worried about coming across it and realizing they like it than magically being able to argue them down with well-placed logic and reasonable points or whatever

He's got caution about it sure (Tubbo vice etc) but it's a generally common impulse and one Ranboo REALLY exhibits to just assume that if you were kind of in charge things would just be better, especially before evaluating what you would actually hypothetically be in charge of

It's also smth he's pursuing especially while he's still cautiously in good graces yk like it's a much less volatile situation and he has way brighter outlooks on what people might trust him with (including what they SHOULD but also what they will broadly); he's still careful though like he does stuff like assure Tubbo that he isn't giving up too much power etc which as aforementioned is still like a genuine sentiment I think but is still, like, strategically dropped in that this is Ranboo at possibly his most nonthreatening

It's also a direct statement of good faith for Tubbo's leadership which is smth Tubbo is SORELY missing, and that's smth tht is Really foundational to their relationship I think like. Ranboo was basically the only one in Tubbo's corner yk? At this stage it's also not unique to Tbbo it's also a prevalent dynamic in his relationship w/ Fundy where Ranboo well he is just a rather kind and agreeable person who is quite easily willing to be amicable with people and like everyone is terrible to Fundy all the time and to Tubbo rn especially which REALLY ramps up post Exile which idk if this convo takes place b4 or after Tmmy is kicked out

Idk no real solid conclusions... these are my thoughts though on that conversation

A hypothetical Ranboo presidency... I talked to Floral about this and we agreed that it's like . Ranboo is the kind of character who is intensely reactive to his environment and the circumstances he finds himsefl in so that couldn't really exist in a vacuum... unsure under which circumstances he'd carry through with being president but it'd definitely be quite differentones than from canon which also like... idk idk it'd all be EXTREMELy dependent Ranboo is just so reactive... like it's better to consider how Ranboo would be in a specific progression of events than just smth like this, yk? It's like how there's no concrete answer to what Ranboo would do in the trolley problem in the absence of the description of what larger context that problem exists in like sure morally he'd lean toward pulling the lever but to analysing him as a character it matters less what he in theory would morally do in a void and more what larger circumstances he's acting in both overall and right now specifically what pressures he's in and how he prioritizes there yk like... he's a complicated man which is really fundamental to him as a narrative construct

Day 28 - Do you like how tragic Torchwood is, or do you wish it was more light-hearted? Do you think the ‘dark and adult themes’ were explored sufficiently?

torchwood's weird bc it exists in this place where, like, the creators + writers were all coming at it from different angles, and i think there was a lot of... internal confusion amongst individuals, too. like, a lot of the concepts in chibnall's scripts are actually profound and intriguing when it come to the characters themselves - but he's also the guy who put a cyberman in a bikini, and the guy who came up with the sex alien, so. rtd, idek his vision tbh - in the director's commentary of i believe the first episode, he says something like "everyone's talking about what a dark, edgy show it is, but we've got a pterodactyl. can we talk about that. like that's ridiculous - it's brilliant." so i think he was partially intending for it to be kinda silly from the get-go. but he also did push the dark edgy adult spin off angle, so idk. the show tried to do both and it's... kind of iconically bad, but also unique and, imho, endearing. you certainly don't see it elsewhere. i love my bad 2000s show.

as iconic as that edgy campiness is, obviously torchwood would've benefited significantly from simply picking a tone and being consistent with it. s1 was criticized for unevenness, but i think it was earnest in its ridiculousness, which i appreciate. it committed. s2 takes itself a bit less seriously and leans into the silliness, which some ppl like, but i find it less compelling. idk, s1 is just special to me; it's so experimental and tonally bizarre, but i love it. i always say torchwood's weird bc it's like they had gold but they somehow managed to bury it in manure. like there's a spark of something magic but you have to wade thru the shit to get to it and even then it's not there for the taking, you're like eternally digging for it and you're constantly finding little tiny pieces of it HFKDSF or at least thts my experience (<- guy who's a year into being insane about this fucking show. it is Not that deep im just ill.)

and a lot of that magic exists in the underlying darkness. torchwood isn't dark when it tries to be; torchwood is dark in the implications. it's haunted by it's own darkness but it refuses to look directly at it. watching it is, like, you're staring at smth simple and underwhelming, but there's something terrifying in your peripheral - but if you look right at it it won't be there. so you're fascinated by what you can't fully grasp at. again, maybe i'm just deranged, but that's how i feel about it. there's so many insane connotations in each episode that feel peripheral and unconscious. it's bizarre. it's probably just the result of bad writing, but i do not control what my bastard brain latches onto and decides is worth painstakingly deconstructing.

so what i'm saying? is where torchwood 'thinks' it's dark, it's not, and what's actually dark isn't even a consistently conscious thing and therefore isn't remotely touched on. so, no, they're not explored well at all. that's what fanfiction's for 👍 im very stimulated with this fixation still, after all this time, bc there's soooo many cool threads that i can pull from and actually put the work and time into playing with in a way the show wasn't willing to, and i love that. i love dark themes in general, i'm very naturally oriented towards miserable things, and torchwood's so tragic and dark but it doesn't live up to its potential whatsoever. so many good seeds that didn't get planted. that being said, i do like the silly shit. but if i could make it stick to a tone, i'd have it commit to the dark stuff, because i mourn what could've been. it's a ghost that follows me 🫵

                       ❛ ‘        then look upon me  .  𝐒𝐄𝐄 𝐌𝐄  .        ’ ❜ it comes not as a request  ,  but a quiet command  .  where voice usually finds a teasing lilt  ,  it now bears none as he gazes upon the child of light before him  .  it must have caught him by  SURPRISE  ,  he thinks to himself  ,  catching the uncertain flicker of red darting towards him before darting away  .          ❛ ‘        you wanted to see me  ,  did you not  ?        ’ ❜        there’s the beginnings of a faint SMILE on his lips then  ,  though there is a serious that holds in vibrant  ,  golden eyes as he looks up at the berserker  .  volume of his voice remains constant  ,  a steady quiet that seeks to  PROVOKE  cu’s familiarity during these acts  ,  even if it still feels  f o r e i g n  .  perhaps that is what proves to be enough for him to finally turn his full gaze towards the king  ,  lips parting with the strange  ,  bone-rattling  EXHALE  as burning embers lock with molten gold  ,  briefly flickering over his countenance before the berserker leans down to press lips against the king’s own  .  a short intake of breath before their lips seal together  ,  feeling the consuming  WARMTH  he draws in from the warrior that stirs further within the pit of his belly as dark crown tilts  ,  the ghost of a smirk curling the outer corners of ozymandias’s lips as his hands fall onto cu’s broad shoulders  .
