Luffy
Luffy was always dense about things such as love. He knew what it was and he believed he loved a lot of people in his life like his family and his friends, but he wasn’t one to think farther about it as such as a relationship. He loved a lot of things in life such as adventures and being true to himself.
He didn’t know that you admired him a lot for that. You thought he was such an amazing person. The way he would turn a situation to his advantage with his mental & physical strength, was inspiring you to do the same, to never let a fight end without absolutely giving your all. He gave you the courage you were lacking at critical times and that made you admire him even more as your captain.
On his part, Luffy do notice your fond smile when you walk up to him at the end of a day on the Sunny and simply stare at him. He would jokingly ask you what was making you happy, but you would shook your head telling him it was nothing. Staring off at the sea with eyes glittering at the thoughts of new adventures waiting for you next to Luffy.
It was feelings you wanted to tell him. Too nervous, you filled the empty pages of your diary with emotions that couldn’t find their way out of your lips. You wrote how much you admired him but slowly that admiration turned into a crush. When you realized, you couldn’t shake away the rush of anxiety that took over your every nerves.
You? Thinking you had a chance with the person you knew was going to be the future King of pirates?
A severe frown on your face, you read again and again, and over and over the pages you wrote about him. Your eyes widened and with shaky hands, your pen fell from your grip. You let out a shaky breath as your head fell into the palms of your hands in despair.
What were you going to do, it was the the first question to pop into your mind.
You had to forget about them. You couldn’t be in love with your captain. You quickly closed the diary and threw it behind a pile of clothes and books. As you looked at the now hidden diary one last time, your teared up.
You took your distance with Luffy ever since that day. He noticed and he asked you if you were okay. If you were sick, if you were hungry? But you let him know you were fine and walked away. Luffy could feel the atmosphere between you two wasn’t the same and he hated it.
One day, Nami had sent him to look for her book in your room. He grumbled that he didn’t want to but after a beating from the redhead, he walked into your room. He searched in your room but fell instead on a purple book with « Diary » written in bright yellow on the cover.
He grinned mischievously because he knew what were those. When he was a kid he was definitely noisy and would read diaries of anyone who had the bad luck of leaving it next to him. He laughed as he jumped into your bed and started to read it. He quickly went through the pages not truly taking his time to read it, but his eyes caught a page that have been ripped but tapped back into the book.
His eyes grew big as he read your true feelings for him. He was shocked because he never knew you felt like that about him. He couldn’t help but also notice the way his heartbeat picked up from the indirect confession.
-HUUUH?! THEY LIKE ME?!
He closed the book and ran to you, screaming your name across the ship. He finally found you in Sanji’s kitchen helping him with the dishes.
-YOU LIKE ME ?!!
He yelled at you. Assimilating the information he just said you stared at him blankly completely confused. The plate that was in your hand fell on the floor. You blushed and furrowed your eyebrows.
-Wha-What are you talking about !! I don’t like you !!
-YES YOU DO! ITS WRITTEN THERE !
He screamed again overly excited when he rubbed your diary in your face. You grabbed the familiar book and looked at him with a mix of fear and anger. You took a big breath and looked at him with confidence.
-SO WHAT IF I DO?! I KNOW IM NOT WORTH BEING YOUR LOVER BUT I STILL DO !
You yelled back with tears at the corner of your eyes. He looked taking back but his faded smile was now replaced with his infamous warm grin.
-What are you talking about? Worth? What’s that all about, if you like me and I do too, it’s just natural for us to start dating.
-What..?
You asked in a little voice with your diary held tightly on your chest. You couldn’t truly believe him, it felt too good to be true.
-If you two could please leave your romantic drama out of the kitchen, I have to serve the food.
You heard Sanji softly say while picking up the broken plate from the floor and making sure you weren’t hurt.
-FOOD?!
-ITS NOT READY YET!
Sanji scolded him as he pushed him away from the boiling pots.
-HURRY UP, WE HAVE TO CELEBRATE Y/N AND I !!
-Luffy…
You whisper. He looked back at you and stretched his arm and pulled you against him. He hugged you tightly.
-Now, you don’t have a reason to be distant from me.
Ace
You had sent Ace to search for your notebook that was lying on top of your desk. He couldn’t miss it and you were too busy right now to get it, so he accepted. The notebook mentioned a lot of interesting information about the next island y’all were about to visit, that you gained from the citizens of the last island. Ace was curious so you told him to grab it in your room while you finish your task.
Ace looked around but saw a bunch of books on top of your desk. He sighed confused at what to do now because he had no clue which one was the right one. He sat on the chair and started to go through each of the books at the research of your precious notes.
With a bored expression he looked through them until he stumbled on one that was at the bottom of one pile. It was a crimson read notebook with Diary written on it. He didn’t thought much of it, thinking it was probably a diary keeping up with your journey on the sea, which it was but there was a little twist. Curious he started to read quickly through the pages and a faint smile curved his lips at the mention of your family and the friends you made on the sea. He started to wonder if you possible talked about him somewhere.
His stomach clenched in nervousness. He started to think that maybe he was invading your personal space and maybe it was better to let your thoughts about him unknown. What if it was something bad that could completely ruin your friendship with him, but maybe he should know if there was. He was stuck in a dilemma. He sighed as he looked up at the ceiling wondering what to do.
Fuck it, it was too tempting.
You two have been quite flirty and had even shared a drunk kiss but he didn’t count it because he doesn’t even think you remember. He always had feeling for you, the moment he saw you. So now it was maybe his chance to see if you felt the same or maybe not.
-Alright let’s see~
He started to read from the moment you mentioned being a member of the Whitebeards and how it felt. He smiled when you mentioned thinking Marco looked funny with his pineapple hair and how giant WB was. Little things that you thought, but still felt worth writing down. Then his eyes fell on his name. His heartbeat quickly picked up, now nervous. You wrote about one guy grabbing your attention.
“Then, this guy named Ace, I think, walked up to me to present himself. I never met someone as charming as he is or maybe I did, but my heart never reacted the way it did with anyone else. I felt like I was about to faint, he probably noticed the way I started to blush. Quite embarrassing..He has the cutest freckles and wear this unique hat all the time. He’s funny and everyone seems to very like him on the ship. I hope we could eventually get closer and I could get to know him more.”
He couldn’t help but grin at your short description of him and how it felt meeting him. He did remember that day, how nice it was to welcome a new member on the ship. Especially, someone that made him feel some type of way that few did. It was a little bit funny to him to see you write that and now seeing how close you two got. You were inseparable.
He continued reading the pages at the research of something more. He knew curiosity killed the cat, but he was ready to risk it in that moment. Then he found it, his eyes widened and a smirk covered his face.
So you did remember.
“I can’t believe this. I can’t tell this to no one so I might as well write it here. Ace and I kissed. We were both drunk, but I can clearly remember this happening. How am I supposed to face him now, I’m truly panicking. The best thing is probably acting like nothing happened. He will simply think I was too drunk to remember. God I need to watch how much I drink. I wish our first kiss didn’t happen like that though… wished it was more intimate”
-What are you doing ?
You asked lowkey annoyed as you opened your door.
What was taking him so long honestly? That’s what you thought before you decided to help him out and walk back to your room. When you walked in, you saw him sat on your chair with a familiar book in his head.
His eyes widened in shock and his face quickly got red as he roughly closed your book and pushed it with the others.
-Don’t tell me, you said as panic ran through your system. You walked quickly to your desk and saw your Diary not too far from Ace. You grabbed it and held it tightly to your chest as you glared at him in embarrassment and anger. You blushed as your mind started to wonder what did he possibly read.
-I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t have invaded your privacy when you trusted me in your room and-
He started explaining while standing up.
-What did you read?
You sternly asked cutting him to go straight to the point. You couldn’t make him unread the pages of your journal anyway. You were mad if you were to be honest with yourself, but you were also nervous wondering if he read too much and how it could affect y’all relation.
-I…I was at the part where you talked about the time we kissed when we were drunk.
He admitted as he scratched the back of his wavy black hair. You sighed and walked to your bed were you sat defeated. So he knew how you felt about him. He stared at you with guilt.
-Then you know how I feel about you ?
His eyebrows furrowed and he looked at you a bit confused but nodded at your question. You rubbed your eyes with your hand as the other one was still holding your journal closely. You looked up at him and smiled accepting your situation.
-I like you, Ace.
You admitted while slightly looking away too embarrassed. You stared back at him to watch his reaction and the man in front of you simply grinned. A smirk creeping on his lips, he walked towards and took your free hand in his weirdly rough but soft hand. He pulled you up, standing now at few inches of you.
-You said you would’ve wished our first kiss to be different right ?
You smiled back and hummed as you looked at his dark eyes. He was even prettier up-close.
-Then let me fix this.
He whispered before pressing his slightly chapped lips against yours. You smiled before kissing him back, letting your lips fold into his. You threw your book on your bed as your arms found their way around his neck where you brought him closer to you. Ace pulled back a little to catch his breath, he felt that his heart was about to explode.
-I like you too, y/n.

Just saw that you’re open for one piece requests and thought I’d drop by.
Would you consider writing back rub and back kisses hcs for katakuri or marco please? And best of luck with the come back ^^
anon ur so insane how did u KNOW i was thinking obsessively about katakuri for the past two weeks straight... ur too good. i meant to stick closer to the prompt but the plot kinda got away from me, sorry!
Tumblr media
summary: strawhat!reader x katakuri meet again after many years apart during the whole cake island arc. luffy has been trying to convince him to join his crew with no success, but maybe he might listen to you?
word count: 969 words / 0.9k
cw: none? i think?
whoever said katakuri was 48 year-old eldest daughter syndrome is absolutely correct. he has so many hangups when it comes to both physical and verbal affection, most of the time preferring to passively sit by and let people bother him. case in point, your captain. instead of immediately setting sail for zou to meet up with everyone, luffy has taken it upon himself to convince the minister of flour that his presence is desperately needed on his crew. permanently.
and, if you're going to be polite about it: things aren't going well. you've watched for two days straight, luffy yelling either to the gentle giant's face (which is still quite a distance from the ground), or attempting to scale the walls of katakuri's home. neither of those particularly difficult for the rubber boy, considering the house slash castle itself seems to be basically falling apart.
you wait. nami often sits by your side, either grouching about the time, plotting your captain's demise, or napping on your shoulder. chopper and brook have taken to an almost betting ring of sorts, getting the remaining residents of komugi island to guess whether their leader will stay or go. so far, the odds aren't in luffy's favour. as usual, you might add.
at the end of their fourth extra night, luffy returns to the sunny. he looks a little downtrodden, yawning, but has somehow gotten a hold of a handful of mochi. "i think katakuri was trying to kill me again, but he lost. the food he makes is really yummy though, shishishi!"
with a sigh of your own, you offer, "let me talk to him, i have an idea."
"you do?" luffy replies, mouth full of sweets, "go ahead!"
"call if you need anything!" chopper chimes in.
nami only shakes her head. "if you don't come back, we'll assume you got trampled to death or something. so don't do that please."
"don't even worry about it, i'm basically a pro social hustler," you tell them, and begin the walk to the castle.
Tumblr media
"so you are not a bard, or a songstress, or a very small jester. your presence here confuses me, you did not seem like someone who would ever become a pirate," katakuri tells you, his tone as solemn as ever.
"is this a roundabout way of saying i don't have any talents?" you mock-gasp with flair, "oh you wound me so!"
he stares at you wordlessly. okay, it looks like jokes are off the table.
"but you missed me right?" you try instead, putting on your biggest smile. "you missed me so bad, must be why you look so grumpy all the time."
"is your captain aware of..." he pauses, considers, "does the strawhat know of your past?"
"sort of?" you shrug your shoulders, shifting forward to adjust like you aren't already lying on one of his legs (truly the world's largest couch). "there was never exactly a good time to bring it up, ya know? like how was i supposed to say 'uh hey guys, i used to work here as the world's worst gardener before i got fired'."
"hm, that does seem difficult," katakuri nods. "i could not tell how much they knew, but you are lucky that none of my siblings happened to remember you well enough to say anything."
"small blessings for sure," you do your best to contain a laugh, however the echoing chambers of an empty castle only make it louder. "anyways, cut the bullshit. you're gonna come with me, right?"
his neutral expression shifts into something like a frown, and yet you can tell he isn't exactly angry at your presumptuousness either. "i would like to accompany you. but my duties to my... mother and the family take precedence."
"and if you left, she'd send the whole gang after you."
he sighs again. "yes, that is the most probable outcome. and i would not wish to put the strawhat crew in danger."
"that's charming," you reply, "but also really stupid. and i know you aren't a dummy, right? you've been hanging around this dreary archipelago for your whole life! don't you want to, i don't know, do something? go on an adventure?"
he doesn't respond immediately, but a large hand clumsily pats your head with his pointer finger. you grin, knowing victory must be in sight. "your totally evil mom doesn't even leave her place that often, so she won't even notice that you're gone! and tell me right now that you don't think luffy would be chomping at the bit to fight her again? be serious, mochi-mochi."
all of a sudden the ground shifts under you, and you make an embarrassing yelp as you're dragged up and up and up. katakuri holds your body by the back of your shirt, and you're only partially worried that he could drop you. death by splat on marble floor isn't appealing in the slightest. you're suspended by a shirt pinched between fingers as he squints slightly, as though looking for a secret in your expression.
"fine," he eventually says, "i will go. but if something goes wrong, do not say i didn't warn you."
"ah, you're bringing me back to old times!" you hum, making a familiar grabby hand motion for him to drop you on his shoulder. "except i think uh, the last time you warned me-"
"you got fired, yes," he says amicably, but acquiesces to your request. "left or right?"
"right! i wanna look like a really mean parrot, mr. pirate," you exclaim, laughing as he drops you gently where you'd asked. feeling mischievous, you press a kiss against his neck and watch as his face goes pink. "we should probably go make sure that you won't sink the sunny, though!"
"... and you somehow did not think to check something like that before?"

Summary: Witnessing all the suffering Sanji went through on Whole Cake Island, all you want is for him to be truly happy…even if it means not with you. Tumblr media
The village was lively; Otama showed you around since you hadn’t had a chance since landing in Wano. Her hand was glued to yours, pointing out different homes and who they belonged to. She went on and on about how great her big bro Luffy was and how full her belly had been from the last three days of eating. Her smile put into perspective how vast the world was and how this country, this village, was just one small story among millions. There were more stories like Otama’s, more people to help and when you glanced over to Luffy – who was busy devouring his fifth bowl of rice, you knew he’d be the one to liberate everyone. Leaving her to go to the man’s side, you wandered off toward the edge of the village – where the trees were high and shading. Needing some time alone, you walked further into the forest and then perched yourself down near a small pond. Sitting on the ground, your eyes drew closed.
Moments flashed in your mind, memories flowing like a stream. A smile burned through your heart thinking of the crew…Merry…than Sunny… All the arguing and laughing among the seas you all traveled. The best moments in your life were had on the ship but hidden in the cracks of memories were the ones of your family. Biological family. Pain sears through your soul and for a moment, you thought you could smell your mother’s perfume, father’s cigars. You loved them once and you were sure they loved you, but people can become the worst versions of themselves.
And never come back.
For years, you were always on your own. Fending for yourself – being hurt by others, sometimes far worse than what your parents did to you. The physical scars always heal but damage the heart, that was harder to mend. The pond was still, too still for your liking, so you swat a hand into it. Ripples catered to your needs, and you inhaled the air, lungs filling with relief than the tears fell from your eyes. Body shaking, fingers digging into the dirt, all you can do is just sob. Cry until you collapsed onto your back; eyes stung as you stared up past the tree line. It was getting dark, and you felt sleepy, even though you had slept so much last night. Still, there was an incredible tiredness that came over you and it only took a few minutes before you fell asleep…
Crickets woke you up.
How soft their sounds usually were, you were surprised by how loud they were when no one was around. It was dark, moon high and above the trees. Your back ached from the ground and when you sat up, your head felt dizzy. You yawned, getting up from your feet to tug on your kimono; it was dirtied from your nap. Stretching your arms, you felt energetic and started back toward the village – it was a short ten-minute walk, and the village was quiet. The streets were empty sans a few folks walking back to their homes, Luffy was nowhere to be found.
Shit. Realizing it might be later than you initially thought, you didn’t bother asking anyone if they had seen your captain or gone looking for Otama. Going back to the inn seemed like the best choice but as you moved past the homes, you noticed two young girls in front of their home. They looked no older than sixteen and when you drew closer to them, you saw that one was giving the other a haircut. You stopped and watched, the one getting her hair cut smiled at you. She looked so content and free; eyes filled with a hope of a better future and her hair…it looked good shorter. Asking if you could be next in line, the would-be hairdresser grinned. “Of course.”
An hour later, you stood in front of the inn; your once long hair cut under your chin. It was a drastic change, even a bit severe but losing those inches of hair felt freeing. Being among other women who have been ruled by others, being free by the same man that freed you – it felt electric. You needed this and when you walked into the inn, you hadn’t expected to be rushed by Nami. Her arms flung around your shoulders, and she cursed you under her breath.
“Everyone was so worried.”
Confused, you hugged her back, fingers running through her hair. She pulled back and gawked at your head, asking what you had done to your hair. You laughed. “It’s called a haircut. The real question is why you were so worried, I was only gone for a bit. When did Luffy get back?”
“Eight hours ago!”
She explained that when Luffy came back right before sunset, he said he didn’t know where you were. Everyone figured you were just around. “Or with Law but even he didn’t know where you were! He had gone out to look for you too. Sanji’s been worried, he was the first to go out to find you. Where the hell have you been!”
Chopper rushed into the inn’s entry way and summoned you to the other room for an examination – in tears, asking if you were hurt. Kneeling in front of him, you patted his head three times, just the way he liked it and told him you were fine. “I just fell asleep in the forest.”
Nami scoffed. “Apparently got a haircut on her way back too.”
“Does it look that bad?”
You stood up and looked at the navigator, she glared at you for a long time before giving into a smile. It was cute, she said, and you felt relieved – a bad haircut might set you off again but before you could thank her, Robin and Brook walked in. Both were pleased to see you; the latter urged you to go outside. “The others are on their way; they’ll be happy to see you.”
Following him outside, the rest trailed behind you – Robin noting how pretty your new locks were. Smiling, you walked into the streets and looked in the direction Brook pointed towards. The first person you saw was Luffy and before your eyes could register the figures next to him, his hands grabbed a hold of your shoulders. Knowing what was about to happen, true fear set in as he screamed your name – no doubt waking up every person in the vicinity of the inn. A unison of shouting and pleading from the crew did nothing to sway Luffy’s determination to hug you. All that there was left to do was accept your fate. Bracing yourself, your eyes closed shut and seconds later his entire body seemed to be wrapped around yours. He felt heavy but when you tripped back there were two arms holding you up. Thinking it was Robin, you giggled as you were pushed back into a standing position. Everyone laughed. When Luffy finally released you, the owner of the hands was revealed to be Sanji. He asked if you were alright, chastising Luffy. “You could have hurt her, you moron!”
He slipped his hands away from you, eyes taking in your hair. His heart galloped in a way it never had but he pushed it back the feeling and asked where you had been. You confessed the nap you had taken, and he smiled warmly. A hint of earnestness swept his eyes when you apologized for making him worry. “For making you all go out looking for me,” you added.
“As if we’d leave you behind,” Usopp chimed; you looked to him and mouthed a ‘sorry’. He knew you meant for earlier and he just grinned at you – all was forgiven. Then like the sap you were, tears started to flow alarming everyone. Zoro demanded you to stop crying, but you knew it was only because it was making him uncomfortable. Sanji told him to shut up and placed an arm around your shoulder, asking if you were hurt.
Hurt?
No, you were…happy.
Happy to be with your family and more importantly, happy to be wanted.
Brushing tears from your cheeks, you looked at everyone than to Sanji. “I’m pretty hungry…”
….
The inn’s kitchen was cozy, you sat on a wooden stool watching as Sanji cooked. He had long rid himself of the yellow yukata he had worn for most of his time in Wano; he now wore black slacks and a white, loose button up. Sleeves rolled up his forearm and the first two buttons of the shirt undone. He looked relaxed as he cooked a small dinner for you; neither of you speaking but comfortable enough to enjoy the silence. His hands moved effortlessly, and you studied his every move, moves you had longed memorized. All the times you spent with him in the kitchen, asking questions but confessing you weren’t much of a cook. He smiled when you said that.
“That’s fine, I can do all the cooking.”
Now, he worked diligently – cigarette perched in the corner of his mouth.
“We were all pretty worried when you didn’t’ come back with Luffy.” He spoke but didn’t look up from dicing potatoes for the soup he was making you. “At first, we thought you had gone out on your own, but then it took Luffy an hour to mention that he had lost track of back at Otama’s village. That’s when everyone started to freak out. With everything that’s happened…it seems we’re all on edge.”
“I’m sorry…”
Sanji looked up from his work, eyes a bit sad. “Don’t be sorry for having people that care about you.”
“Then you shouldn’t either,” you snapped back much to Sanji and your surprise. He stopped dicing and placed the knife down. Neither of you knew what to say next, but neither of you could look away from each other. It felt like a standoff with words, both of you trying to figure out what to say next. Then he resided and continued to cook, and for ten minutes no words were spoken until Sanji finally broke the silence.
“Why did Nami lie about you being there when we talked through the mirror dimension?”
Heart racing, you fought the urge to avoid his eye contact, avoid him all together and run upstairs but your feet were frozen to the wood floor. Gripping the edge of the stool, you told him you asked her to lie and when he asked why, you wished lies could roll off your tongue. “Because I was angry at you. Angry that you had no faith in Luffy or us or me to help you.”
“They threatened Zeff, threatened you all.” They being his awful family. Sanji’s head hung low, hands on the small kitchen island. “I couldn’t let them get to him, Luffy, the others…you…. I – I couldn’t…”
Your heart ached for Sanji and all you wanted to do was go to him, hold him, absorb his pain but again, you couldn’t move. A woman frozen. Dread riddled your bones as he looked up to you, eyes pleading for you to understand. God, you did, you did but…
“You were going to go through with it,” you whispered, tears forming. Letting go of the stool, you held a hand to your chest and trembled. “You were going to go through with the wedding because they wanted you to. The family that discarded you. You told me how awful they were to you, Sanji.”
“But I had to…”
“I understand why you did it,” you admitted, wiping away a stray tear. “I do. But you didn’t even give Luffy a chance, give me a chance to help you. Not from the start. Didn’t you realize that we would do anything for each other? Was not that evident enough after all this time? We are your family, Sanji. We are. Not those awful people and not that awful girl.”
Sanji couldn’t comprehend the scene before him – the tears in your eyes, the look of devastation on your face, or the pain in his heart. He couldn’t form words, let alone a sentence but somehow, he managed to speak and the instant he did, he knew it was the wrong thing to say. Even if he had said it out of nerves, trying to ease the tension. It would be something he’d regret until the end of time, but he couldn’t grasp the knowledge that you might feel the same as him – couldn’t be possible.
“She wasn’t so awful.”
His response to the heart pouring you just did stun the nerves in your system and all you could do was laugh. A low, melancholy laugh. Willing the tears away, you stood up from the stool and smiled softly at the startled cook. “Well, then, maybe Usopp was right. Maybe you should have married Pudding. You’re the kindest person I know Sanji and if you couldn’t warm her heart, no one could. I’m not feeling so hungry anymore. Goodnight.”
The cigarette fell from his mouth onto the cutting board as he watched you exit the kitchen; he wanted to call out to you, beg for your forgiveness. Yet, the shame of even mentioning Pudding kept him where he stood. He listened to the sound of your sandals clicking until he could no longer hear it, and when the coast was clear, he allowed the tears to flow freely. He didn’t know if it was possible to even come back from a conversation like this one. Or if you’d ever be willing to speak to him again and he wasn’t so sure he even deserved a second chance.

The life in your little part of the world wasn’t so bad. The weather was generally sunny more than rainy, your community was kind and joyful. But, more importantly, your shore was boarding the East Blue, creating many trading opportunities and occasions to meet interesting people ready to tell their tale about the sea.
Your job as a waitress in the little bar of the port wasn’t the worst you had either. You made good money, learned the best gossip beforehand and had the chance to meet many kinds of people. And for bad days, well, you can say you learned to take care of yourself.
However, it was one particular client you were waiting eagerly for. Each few months or so, Shanks and his crew of pirates anchored their ship on your shore, taking a well deserved rest, resupplying and then taking the sea again. It was a routine you knew perfectly well for a few years now.
It’s why you had made a habit, at least thrice a day every few months, during your shift, to watch the sea hoping to notice the well known Jolly roger. But, you could always count on Luffy to spot it before you and scream the good news all the way.
“ SHANKS AND THE CREW ARE BACK” The child was shouting, running.
Giving a look behind the bar to your boss, you saw her nodding off the head while cleaning a glass.
“ Y/N isn’t the time of your break ? “ She simply asked, already knowing everything.
“ Yes I think it is, I will be right back “ You smiled before heading to the beach.
The ship was anchored at his usual spot and the crew was busy, unloading empty barrels and crates full of treasures.
But, you didn’t even give a look to the gold glittering under the sun. You only had eyes for the tall redhead man with a straw hat, on the dock, helping his crew.
Shanks had always treated you with nothing more than respect and tenderness, making you feel, at each of his stops, like a true lady. It wasn’t a secret for nobody that you had a crush on the kind Captain. Even Luffy, who wasn’t in age to truly understand love, had asked you questions about your affection. But, never could you have thought that the man was looking at you that way. You were pretty, smart and creative, it was true, but you weren’t the only pretty smart woman in the east blue and you were perfectly aware of it.
Until that night.
The bar was quiet, almost at his close time, many members of the crew were back to the ship, a bottle in hand to help them sleep, letting you alone with Shanks ,drinking his last drink. He wasn’t usually the last one to leave ,but ,his behavior had been strangely quiet and almost contemplative during all the evening, had make you wonder if he hadn't, for once, need to drown some bad news in his drink.
“ Y/N, I have a dilemma and I need your help“ He finally says, an almost sad smile on his lips.
“ I will try Shanks, what is it ? “ You replied, curious but excited to be the one he had thought to ask about his personal difficulty.
“ You see, I have seen a lot of places and many women in the East blue, but everytime I come back here, I can easily say you are even more beautiful, kind and smart than them all. “ He confessed, taking a sip of his alcool “ I would love to kiss you and keep you to myself. But, you see I can’t stop thinking that it isn’t fair for you, letting you here to wait for me...my life isn’t easy but you're so tempting…What would you do if you were at my place ?"
The glass you were cleaning almost fell off your hand as your cheeks took a pretty pink color. But, for you it was an easy question going with an even quick answer.
“ I know that your life isn’t easy, but I also know that I can’t ask you to stay here and I think that it is a fair trade for our kisses and affection. After all, I already wait impatiently for you and the crew to come back every few months just to see you look at me. So, you love for my patience “ You replied as he rose from his stools an amused expression of his lips.
“ It seems indeed a fair trade “ He smiled reaching across the bar to give you a kiss you will never forget.
But now, here he was, giving order and unloading until he saw you and joy spread on his face. Getting down from the dock, he quickly looked at you before pulling you in a warm hug smelling the sea, the lemon of his soap and his personal scent.
“ I missed you, Y/N. You hadn’t an idea “ He first said, before noticing your amused, but, trying to be serious, expression. “ What…?”
“ You’re late, you'd tell me you were back by the last full moon “ You accused, trying to look mad but failing as you tenderly pushed back as straw of red hair across his forehead.
“ I’m late? “ He innocently jokes, trying to distract you with a kiss. ” Yes maybe, but I didn’t miss this month's full moon...I still can admire your figure under the moonlight, maybe even on that beach tonight?”
“ You’re incorrigible “ You laugh, forgiving him with another kiss. “ I missed you too “
“ SHANKS ! “ The not so small voice of Luffy interrupted as he entered in collision with your hugging forms, ready like always, to morph into a group hug. “ Come with me I want to show you something quick !”
“ Calm down Luffy, I'm coming ! “ Shanks answered, still keeping you in his arms, his thumbs caressing the small of your back. Watching the child run at the top of the sandy hill. “ Tell me you don’t do the night ship please...I think I could not endure another night without you” Your lover confesses, filling your heart with a warm sensation of love.
“ I’m on my break right now, come to the bar later, I will have a cold drink for you and when I have finished my work, we will enjoy the moonlight together “ You playfully replied, stealing another kiss.
“ I love you “ He simply said, as if it was the most natural thing in the world and Luffy wasn’t screaming his name again and again.
“ I love you too, now go before the kid decide to go recrute your crew and become the new captain of your ship “ You laugh, regretting immediately the warm of his body against yours.
“ I would love to see that “ He joined you in your laugh, finally following Luffy.
Sadly, your romantic moonlight plan takes a drastic turn when the bandit took Luffy, leading Shanks to lose an arm and take the most harsh decision of his life.
You knew at the minute that he stepped in the little pantry of the bar, his freshly missing arm wrapped by the doctor, that he wasn’t coming to bring you to the beach for a romantic moment. His expression was resolute but sad and his gaze was laying on you like if he was trying to burn your image in his brain forever.
“Y/N “He slowly said your name. “ I have to talk to you..”
“ You’re leaving... “ You realize by yourself, as his iconic straw hat wasn’t on his head and his fist was holding a golden bracelet “ No, I mean…I go with you Shanks. You will not abandon me here, like if we were nothing. “
“ Y/N, you were the most beautiful treasure I found but, I can’t offer you more than that ! It’s what I tried to teach Luffy. The life of a pirate isn’t a calm ride in a boat. You should set yourself up with somebody more stable, marry that son of a bitch of a merchant who always looks at you like if you aren’t mine...you will be happy and out of danger. “ He pleaded, trying to pass his valid arm around your waist as you resisted.
“ I won’t ! You promised to bring me with you ! I’m not interested in some boring merchant, I’m interested in you redhead stubborn donkey“ You angrily replied, taking his face in your hand, trying to bring him back to reason. “Is everything you told me was all pretty lies ?!”
“No, of course no. But I can’t assure your safety, How could I sleep at night If I lose you ! I almost lost the kid today “ He exclaimed, shame and pain flashing on his face as your heart bleed for him. But, as much as you knew how much he was caring for Luffy, you weren't him and you will not let the man you love go without you.
“ I’m not a child,I can defend myself and I will learn new skills to fight even better. I assure you, you will sleep well against me every night. “ You promised.” I will asked every member of your crew to teach me something new to defend myself and I will stay alive for your peace of mind”
“ You could regret it, you know ?“ He finally conceded, taking you closer, his forehead meeting yours, as he closed his eyes, defeated.
“ Never, if I became a little bored I could still annoy you to distract myself “ You joked, kissing his warm lips.
“ I had some better idea, but, sure “ He smiled amused, his thumbs doing a lazy circle on your back. .
“ You’re really incorrigible, you know that. '' You laugh, tears running down your cheeks as he caresses your face. “ Come with me, I have to go pack my things and I don’t trust you for not having a hero change of heart and leave without me “
“ You know me too well, I will have to watch my back on my own ship now “ He said, smiling tenderly, taking your hand to leave the small room.
Packing your life didn’t take you more than twenty minutes. As much as you loved this place, you were ready to follow Shanks and live something bigger than your current situation. After some word of advice from your old boss, you took the way to your new home.
“ Are you ready, love ? “ Shanks asked you, as he took your hand to help you come aboard. Making sure for the last time that you were sure of your choice.
Taking a last look at the port you know so well, you took his hand, jumped on the deck and smiled, letting your bag fall on the wooden floor.
“ I’m done waiting Shank, show me the world “ You said, as he joyfully laughed and shouted at the crew to lift the anchor.
The world was indeed beautiful, but for nothing you would come back to your little and quiet life. Like Shank had once said, being a pirate wasn’t like a tranquil boat ride on a quiet river, but with him at your side, you were ready for everything your new life had to offer.
Bonus :
You were sitting with him on the little beach, the day Mihawk brought the warrant for Luffy.
You never doubt that the little Luffy will one day succeed to follow the step of your lover. But nothing had prepared you for the burst of pride you felt when you saw the immense joy in the face of Shanks similar to the day of your wedding, when he had passed you the ring, linking your life forever.
“ Y/N ! The kid did it ! He’s a pirate !“
“ He had told you that he would surpass you “ You joked, kissing his cheeks. “ You teach him well, I hope seen him soon “
“ Me too” He smiled.

Chapter 1: New Island Discovery
Words: 2K+
Tumblr media
Part 2
Deep inside the sea, the Straw Hat Pirates found themselves in a disheartening situation. Having just completed a fierce battle with the formidable boss of the previous island, they now floated aimlessly in an empty expanse of water. Time seemed to stretch on endlessly, as if days had melded into one another without distinction.
The Log Pose, a navigational device attached to Nami's wrist, provided them with direction and hope. However, to their dismay, the needle on the Log Pose was now spinning erratically, pointing at nothing in particular. It was as if the very essence of their purpose had been lost in the vastness of the sea.
The crew gathered on the deck of the Thousand Sunny, their expressions reflecting a mixture of frustration, exhaustion, and uncertainty.
The lack of a clear destination weighed heavily on their minds, casting a shadow over their once unwavering resolve. Each member of the crew sought solace in their own thoughts, contemplating the situation at hand.
Luffy, the captain with a heart as big as the ocean itself, clenched his fists, determination burning in his eyes.
He refused to let their current predicament dampen their spirits. With a resolute voice, he declared, "We may be lost, but as long as we're together, we'll find our way!"
His words served as a rallying cry for the crew, reigniting the flames of hope within them. They knew that their strength lay not just in their individual abilities, but in their unity and unwavering belief in one another. They had overcome countless challenges before, and this would be no exception.
As the Straw Hat Pirates sailed onward, their hearts filled with a renewed sense of purpose. They embraced the unknown, ready to face whatever trials lay ahead. With each passing moment, they grew closer as a family, their bonds strengthening amidst the uncertainty of their journey.
After what seemed like an eternity, the Log Pose suddenly began to move, pointing towards a mysterious destination. Luffy and the crew looked at each other in surprise, realizing that their fortunes had finally changed.
With newfound hope, they set sail towards the unknown, ready to meet whatever awaited them.
As the Thousand Sunny sailed through the open sea, they suddenly felt a slight tremor beneath the waves. They soon realized that they had passed through an invisible barrier, and beyond it, they could see a vast and bustling city.
They had stumbled upon a secret paradise, hidden away in the depths of the ocean. They could not believe their eyes - a place of wonder and beauty, hidden away from the world. The crew was awestruck, their excitement palpable.
They had found something special, something that was meant for only them to see. They were eager to explore the mysteries that lay ahead, and so, with a newfound sense of purpose, they sailed into the unknown.
"Luffy," Nami calls him as Luffy sits on the thousand sunny's head and turned around with a smile, his eyes glowing with excitement and a sense of adventure.
She didn't wait for him to answer as she continued, "You know what the villagers said about the next island we come across? They said it's a place full of mysteries and danger, so I think we should be extra careful."
Nami knew that nothing would get through Luffy's thick skull, but she still wanted to make sure he was aware of the danger they may face. She knew he had a tendency to rush into things without thinking, and she wanted to make sure he was prepared.
Luffy was mesmerized by the sight of the island, his eyes filled with awe and wonder. He could feel the excitement of adventure coursing through his veins, and he was eager to explore.
He didn't even seem to register Nami's warning, his gaze firmly fixed on the island ahead of him. With a newfound sense of purpose, he stood up and shouted, "Let's go!" as he stood on the Thousand Sunny, eager for this mystery island and its secrets. . . .
"Listen up!" Nami shouted as the ship made it to the dock on the island in order to explain how they would be spending their time. "Me and Robin will go shopping with Chopper, Zoro and Sanji will get supplies, and Franky will fix the ship with Usopp and Brook."
Everyone except for Zoro and Sanji were not happy with the plan. They shouted that they could get the supplies themselves and didn't need the help of the others.
This resulted in them arguing loudly, with Zoro and Sanji both trying to get their way. Eventually, the argument escalated into a physical altercation, with the clashing of swords and legs in the background as Zoro and Sanji, fueled by their stubbornness, fought each other to prove their point.
The other crew members watched the fight with amusement, shaking their heads at the two stubborn men but not intervening.
"Then what about me?" asked Luffy during the commotion.
"You'll be going on a little adventure of your own," Nami said with a smile. "You can explore the island and see what you can find. Just be careful and stay out of trouble, okay?"
Luffy nodded, a grin spreading across his face as he imagined what secrets he could uncover on the island.
He watched as his crewmates dispersed, each one of them ready to start their respective tasks. He could feel the anticipation building inside him as he was the only one left on the dock.
With a newfound sense of purpose, he set off on his own, ready to explore the mysteries of the island and uncover its secrets.
He had been exploring the island for the past half hour, but so far had found nothing that could be considered secretive or mysterious. He was about to give up and return to the dock when he heard yelling from a distance. Intrigued, he headed towards it, determined to find out what was the commotion about.
He had nothing to do anyway.
"Zara! You need to listen to what we have to say!"
"Is there any reason that I should listen to some ruthless pirates?"
Luffy had stumbled across a fight between three pirates and a marine. The marine, named Zara, was standing her ground and refusing to listen to the pleas of the pirates.
It seemed like they were trying to convince her of something, but she wasn't budging. Luffy stood at a distance, watching the fight with curiosity. He was eager to find out what the pirates wanted, and why the marine was so stubborn.
"You don't know what you are getting into when you come to this island," another pirate said with disdain.
"No, you don't know what you're getting into when you come to this island and come for me," Zara warned. "I can take care of myself, so I suggest you back off now before things get really ugly." She glared at the pirates, her eyes full of determination.
The three pirates looked at each other before they all rushed forward, their swords drawn and ready to attack Zara. Luffy watched in shock as the three of them advanced, their weapons glinting in the sunlight.
He quickly realized he had to do something, and his heart raced as he prepared to jump into the fray.
But he stopped in his tracks. Before he could move, he watched in amazement as the marine had somehow brought a sword out of thin air and had sliced the pirates, making them unconscious in a few seconds.
Luffy was astonished. He had never seen anything like it before.
When he realized two brown eyes were staring straight at him from below, he felt his cheeks grow red. He quickly averted his gaze, feeling embarrassed that he had been caught watching the fight.
He was about to ask the marine how she had done it, but she had already sheathed her sword back into thin air and was walking away, dragging the three unconscious pirates behind her.
Luffy watched her go, leaving him with more questions than answers.
All he knew was that she had to join his crew! He needed to know how she had defeated the three pirates so easily, and he was determined to find out.
He had to have her on his side.
He quickly made up his mind and followed her, trailing a safe distance behind. He followed her to the Marine base, where he watched her drop off the prisoners.
Then he followed her to the bakery, where she bought some bread before heading to the abandoned side of the village. Luffy kept his distance, but he was determined to find out what she was up to.
He was intrigued by her and her mysterious fighting skills, and he wanted to know more.
When Zara entered one of the houses, Luffy quickly scrambled up the side of the building and crouched on the roof, peering into the dark interior of the house through the broken roof with holes.
He could just make out Zara's silhouette inside, but he couldn't hear what she was saying.
When the light from the setting sun shone through the window, Luffy could see that Zara was sitting on a chair with her eyes closed, her hands clasped together in her lap. She seemed to be deep in thought, her expression peaceful and her breathing steady.
Luffy watched her intently, wondering what she was thinking about.
Zara had brown skin and curly black hair that was pulled back in a low ponytail. She wore a crisp white Marine uniform that set her apart from the other people in the village, and she had a long sword sheathed at her side.
Her face was expressionless and her eyes were a deep brown, almost black in color.
Luffy was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed that Zara had opened her eyes and was now staring at him through the window. He felt his cheeks flush as he realized he had been caught again.
"Monkey D Luffy," She mentioned, "Are you going to keep staring at me like a creep or are you going to get down from there?"
Luffy quickly scrambled off the roof, embarrassed but determined to find out more about Zara and her mysterious fighting skills.
He slid through the window and stood in front of Zara, checking if his hat was okay. She seemed a bit surprised but didn't seem angry.
"What do you want?" She asked straightforwardly.
Luffy looked up at Zara, a determined expression on his face. "I want you to join my crew," he said simply. "I've seen your fighting skills and I think you'd make a valuable addition to my crew. What do you say?
Zara looked at Luffy for a few moments before she started to laugh. "You're serious, aren't you?" she said, shaking her head.
"You really think I would join your crew?" Luffy nodded, a determined expression on his face.
"Why not? I think you'd make a great addition to my crew and I'm sure you have a lot to offer." He paused and smiled. "What do you say? Will you join us?"
She shook her head, her face suddenly serious. "You know that's impossible," she said. "I'm a Marine and you're a pirate. We are sworn enemies and there is no way I could ever join your crew."
Luffy then said, "Then arrest me. If you won't join the crew, then arrest me and take me away. I'm sure you can come up with a good reason."
Zara was taken aback by his statement. She hadn't expected him to say such a thing and wasn't sure how to respond.
He smiled again, this time with a little more determination. "I'll wait in prison for you," he said, placing his hat on her head and holding his hands out in front of him in a gesture of surrender.
"I'm sure you'll come around eventually and join my crew."
Zara was taken aback by his statement. She hadn't expected him to say such a thing and wasn't sure how to respond. She hesitated for a few moments, then quickly recovered and moved forward to arrest him.
She grabbed his hands and put them in the handcuffs, then led him away.
Despite her best efforts to remain discreet, the villagers quickly found out that Luffy had been taken away by a Marine. They started to gather around the prison, curious to find out what was happening and how a Marine had managed to arrest a pirate that was so strong and ruthless to have over a million for a bounty. . . .

fluff alphabet for luffy pls!
BTW i love whenever you do alphabet hcs
you never disappoint ❤️
authors note: aw , im glad you like them <3 i fancy them , as well .. they're just so fun ! please enjoy , hunbun <3
Luffy Fluff Alphabet : a , i , k , m , n , r , w , u , y
- How affectionate are they, how do they express it? : Luffy is soso affectionate! It doesn't matter if you're his friend or lover, he's always so lovey with people he cares about. He expresses his love through physical touch! Verbally expressing his love and thoughts can be hard, especially with how his thought process works. Either you won't understand what he's talking about, or it'll come out of his mouth wrong. So, Luffy sticks to giving out hugs and kisses to his favorite people.
- How fast do they say i love you? : Luffy doesn't think much about the severity of saying i love you. To Luffy, it's soft, friendly and rather casual. So, he'll say it right off the bat! He says those words to everyone. His crewmates, his friends, his acquaintances, you.. Just about anyone and everyone under the sun. Prepare yourself for that.
- What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed? : Luffy isn't too periodic with his kisses. They're just a quick peck on the lips, and then he's off to do whatever is on his mind next! If you enjoy more deep and sensual kisses, you're going to have to teach him. And boy, teaching Luffy anything is no cake walk... But as long as you're determined enough, Luffy is sure to become a kissing machine. His favorite place to kiss you is your lips, i'd have to say. Your lips are sooo cute! The colour, the shape... You're irresistible. Luffy especially loves when you wear gloss, it makes him all sparkly! Please, oh please kiss him on his cheeks. It'll make him grin ear to ear, feeling your soft kisses linger on his rounded cheeks.
- How do they spend the morning with you? : They're spent not as romantically as one would dream of... You're either trying to force Luffy out of bed, or you're sleeping in late with him. That's about it..
- How are nights spent with me? : They're spent raiding the Sunny's fridge, and then laying in bed together. After Luffy has a nightly snack (a whole slab of steak-), he's eager to snuggle you! He's quiet for once, snuggled up close into your chest. Luffy will melt if you play with his hair, face turning all rosy, letting out a soft pitch of laughter.
- What is their favorite moment from your relationship? : The day you first cooked for him is high on his list! It doesn't matter if you made him an extravagant meal or a simple packaged meal, he loved it! Luffy can still remember the antsy look you had on your face when you watched in both anticipation and fear as Luffy took the first bite, your expression washing away once Luffy showed signs of enjoyment. "So good, Y/n! I could eat your cooking all day!" You can still feel the warmth of your cheeks from his endless praise, and Luffy can still taste the food on his tongue, made by his most loved Y/n.
- Would they feel incomplete without you? : Luffy would feel empty without you. He's a very clingy person with the ones he loves, not being able to picture a life without any of his friends or his lover. You're his one and only, he could never be pirate king without you on his side. Luffy is powerless without you, he needs you. Luffy does all he can to preserve your love, as well as protecting you from any sorts of danger. You're his, and he'd die to protect you.
- What's a bad habit of theirs? : Luffy never thinks before speaking, which can cause impulsive words to butt their ugly heads in. He doesn't mean to brash or rude, he just can't hold his own tongue. Luffy can easily hurt a persons ego without meaning to, even yours. And a lot of the time, he doesn't understand why what he said was rude. So, he doesn't apologize for his words often...
- What do they dislike in a partner? : Luffy wouldn't mesh well with an overly sexual partner, especially if that's their glue for a relationship. He's not a very sexual person, which would make it difficult to date a hypersexual person. Overall though, Luffy isn't super picky on a partner, as long as he loves them and they love him.

The party was in full swing on the sunny, It was now the only ship still docked, the others had taken off long ago so it was just the straw hat crew and the Doctor all having a blast. Brook was playing music while Luffy, Nami, Usopp and Chopper dances. Franky and Robin sat together drinking and laughing while watching them but you noticed the Doctor leaning against the wall with a small smile. You've been keeping an eye on him so he doesn't leave without saying goodbye but so far it seems he's enjoying himself too much to leave making you relax a little more. Zoro's drinking yet another mug of beer while Sanji sits on his lap watching the group dance, you rub the cooks leg while sitting next to the two, Zoro's other arm around your waist. Prying your eyes away form the Doctor you look at Sanji and Zoro the two have smiles on their faces while watching and laughing at Luffy swinging Chopper around. With a smile you place your head on Zoro's shoulder feeling his arm tighten around your waist before placing a kiss on your forehead "He doesn't join in much does he?" Zoro comments looking from the Doctor then back to you "He's not used to this kind of thing. He's partied a few times but nothing this close nit" You look up at the swordsman still resting your head on his shoulder "So he did used to party?" Sanji asks taking your hand and interlocking your fingers with his.
With a small laugh you nod remembering the very few times the Doctor let loose and had fun "It was rare but it would only really happen when he drank too much. He acted more like a party animal" Zoro lets out a chuckle at your words, he'd love to see the time lord get wasted and go all out but the man hasn't even touched a bottle yet. "Maybe he just needs a push" Sanji shrug's laying his head on Zoro's shoulder who places a kiss on the cooks head. Foot steps approaching get all three of you to look up but relax when seeing its only the Doctor, the man looking down at the three of you with his hands in his pockets "Can i join?" The smile on the Doctors face makes you smile too patting the grass next to you as your boys nod at him and flash him a simple smile, your glad there's no more hard feelings between everyone. "Come on wallflower" You joke watching the time lord sit next to you looking over at the dancing crew members "is it always like this?" You nod at his question but Sanji shrugs before looking over at Luffy and Usopp dancing while Nami sways with Chopper in her arms "Luffy's always been hyper but it seems he's a little more party crazy tonight" The cook laughs earning a chuckle off Zoro who puts his empty mug down and wraps and arm around Sanji's waist "A little? I think he's just happy to see something no one else has" The swordsman looks from Sanji to you rubbing his thumb over your hip "That's true i guess. I think its going to be a long night" You giggle a little laying your head back on the swordsman's shoulder.
The Doctor looks from the three of you to up at the sky seeing the bright stars and glowing half moon, sights like these never get old "Robin showed me your star and planet charts, there very good. Even the ones you haven't been too are amazing" The compliment makes you look over at him with a smile but you couldn't take all the credit so you nudge his shoulder getting him to look at you "I had a good teacher" You compliment back making the Doctor shake his head "Don't sell yourself short... your already short enough" You slap the mans arm making him grab it and groan in pain "Asshole, i was being nice" You try to hold back your laugh but Zoro can't hold his laughing into Sanji's shoulder trying his best to muffle it at least. "And what are you laughing at?" You glare at the swordsman who continues to laugh pulling the cook more between you and him "Hay don't use me as a shield, moss head" Sanji bonks the green haired man on the head earning a groan but the Swordsman still hold the cook between you and him "Coward" you and Sanji booth comment as you cross your arms over your chest, a laugh behind you gets your attention turning to see the Doctor with a big smile and holding his stomach, it's been so long since you've heard him laugh like this, with actual joy.
Standing form where your sitting catches the three men's attention all looking up at you as you turn to the Doctor "Come on we're gonna dance" You hold your hand out to the brown haired man who looks at you in slight shock "No, i don't dance" He starts to say but you glare down at him making the time lord gulp "I taught you how to dance now get your ass up, you better not have forgotten" The Doctor sighs and turn to Zoro and Sanji to see a smile on their faces, seeing there not mad makes him feel better taking you up on your demand so stands up and takes your hand "Be warned this body has two left feet" The Doctor comments as you drag him over to the others as Brook starts playing a new song "Excuses, excuses" You laugh as he spins you around with one hand and starts swaying with you "Hay you came to join" Luffy calls out with a big smile but Nami grabs him and pulls him away knowing you and the Doctor haven't had a moment alone since you came back. You flash her a thankful smile before looking up the Doctor who's paying way too much attention to his own feet trying not to step on yours "You've forgotten?" You ask making him jump slightly "No, i haven't its just... your usually the one that leads" Rolling your eyes with a laugh you take the lead The doctor becoming a lot better while following you "You had no problem when dancing with Jude the princess of Cheem" Your comment gets him to sigh and look up from his feet "Yea but your different" The Doctor's eyes lock with yours showing he means what he says.
Confused you continue to dance not really paying attention to the music. "Different how?" You finally ask since he didn't elaborate, the man looks over your shoulder staring at the wall as not to look at you "You know me better than anyone.. Even after I've changed you still treat me the same, you tell me off but also encourage me. You keep me grounded and when you kissed me i really was shocked because" He stops before looking down at you to see a confused and worried face. You were hoping he wouldn't say anything like i love you or i want to be with you, your hands tighten on his coat trying to tell him not to say it. You don't see him that way, you never did and that kiss wasn't you. "I don't see you that way Y/N... I love you but not in that way" Relief flows over you at his words and your hands slowly loosen on his coat "I'm glad you said that, for a second you had me scared" You let out a nervous laugh along with the Doctor who pulls you into a hug "When you said it was like kissing your dad i.... you meant it rights? i don't want to freak you out but i'v known you for so long and I love you like a daughter because thats what you are to me" Tears well up in your eyes as you hug him back tighter letting the tears fall while burring your face in his shoulder "You asshole. Making me cry.... I love you too Dad" At your words the Doctors breath hitches in his throat, he didn't think you would say anything like that, a tear slips down his cheek as he smiles and rubs your back.
It took you a while to calm down but when you do you wipe the tears from your face and pull the Doctor away so you can see his face. With a small laugh you use your sleeve to wipe his wet cheek "Promise me. you won't leave without saying goodbye" You whisper holding up your pinkie finger the Doctor gladly taking it with a smile "I promise, i plan on leaving tonight after your captains goes to sleep" The man leans in to whisper to you so the nearby Luffy can't hear before placing a light kiss on your forehead "You've found some good people Y/n, i'm so proud of you" Lightly punching the Doctors shoulder you pull away fully and wipe your cheek "If you keep saying stuff like that i'm gonna cry again" You glare crossing your arms over your chest earning a sigh and a pat on the head from the brown haired man "But i mean it, you've done great plus those two love you a lot." The Doctor gestures to Zoro and Sanji who are still sitting together away from you all "I know they'll take care of you and you'll take care of them." You smile at his words looking over at your boys before looking back at the Doctor "Ok enough sappy talk back to dancing" You hold out your hand for him only to earn a sigh in response "Wouldn't you prefer dancing with Zoro or Sanji" The Doctor groans not wanting to dance anymore and embarrass himself.
Looking over at Sanji and Zoro you let a sly smile show "I think i will" The Doctor smiles and laughs lightly in relief about to walk away but you grab his arm "But that doesn't mean you get to go back to being a wallflower. Hay Luffy" You call over to your Captain who runs over with a wide smile "Please No" The Doctor whispers to you as you pull him over to meet the Captain half-way "The Doctor wanted to join you but he's too shy to ask" Luffy laughs at your comment and takes the Doctor's arm that you hold out for him "No i'm good" The Doctor try's to say while trying to stop being pulled away by the much stronger captain "Come on, it'll be fun" As Luffy runs off with The time lord you can't help but laugh and wave them off, The doctors not used to this kind of high energy enjoyment but you hope he'll have some kind of fun. Walking back to your two boys they look up at you with a concerned look but your smile makes him feel less worried "Everything ok?" Zoro asks holding his hand out for you to take but when you grab it you don't let him pull you into him "Everything's good, but he differently forgot how to dance even though he refuses to admit it." You laugh a little seeing a smile appear in Sanji's face who stands up form Zoro's lap and bows a little holding out his hand for you "My lady, would you care to dance?" The cook asks hoping he can satisfy your dancing needs "Yes, i would kind sir" You take Sanji's hand before looking at Zoro who sighs standing as well and kissing your hand "Fine I'll dance too"
Sanji leads you both back over to the others taking your hips pulling you into him letting your arms take his shoulders while Zoro takes your waist form behind. The three of you moving together swaying and stepping Sanji leading the both of you. Looking over at the Doctor, Zoro lets out a laugh and puts his forehead against your back "I thought you taught him how to dance" The Swordsman laughs placing his head on your shoulder causing you to look over at the Doctor, who's dancing very awkwardly with nami who soon hands the man off to Luffy who pulls the time lord around "Oh gods" You laugh hearing Sanji and Zoro join in. "Hay Doctor" You yell over getting his attention, the Doctor looking over at you three with a look that says please help me but how can you stop your captain when he looks so happy. "Take notes, This is how you lead" You wrap your arms around Sanji's neck letting the Cook guide you and Zoro seeming to make the Doctor scowl at you "Thank you my love" Sanji kisses your cheek then your lips which you lean into. The three of you dance for a little until Chopper runs over with a big smile "Hay buddy, what's up?" Zoro asks pulling away form you to look down at the reindeer "I was hoping to join you, i love dancing with the others but there still so hyper" Chopper rubs the back of his head a light blush appearing under his fur.
"If your tired then maybe you should sleep, it's been a long day" Sanji looks down at Chopper his hands still on your waist but the reindeer shakes his head, you know what he really wants, but he's too shy to ask. "Do you want sleep in our room?" You ask making the little deer look up at you in shock, its like you read his mind. It was late and by now he would be going to bed, the only reason why he wouldn't is because he didn't want to sleep in his own bed. "W-well, i don't want to be alone so, i-i was going to wait until you guys went to bed" Chopper looks down nervous to talk about it but Zoro chuckles and places a hand on the reindeer's head "We're not heading to bed yet but you can stay in our bed now if you want" Chopper looks up as Zoro kneels down. "Honestly don't tell Luffy but where waiting until The Doctor leaves tonight." Sanji whispers down after making sure Luffy isn't close enough to hear, Chopper nods seeming to understand but still looks a little shy so you pull away form Sanji and pick up the little deer "Your so cute when your tired. How about i take you to bed and tuck you in. I'm sure we won't be long" You smile seeing the little deer squirm in your arms at your compliment "That doesn't make me happy at all but I'll let you do it since your a friend" The three of you can't help but let out a small laugh at the reindeer's words. "Night chopper" Sanji pats the reindeer's head as Zoro stands up and takes the cooks other hand "Night bud"
Chopper waves at them as you walk to your room holding the reindeer in your arms. "Are you sure it's ok to sleep when your not here?" Chopper asks as you walk into the bedroom and turn on the light "It's fine, plus you'll keep the bed warm for us" walking over to the bed you take Choppers back pack and hat placing them on a chair nearby as he gets under the covers, but he still seems very nervous about something. "Are you scared of something?" You ask sitting on the edge of the bed looking down at the sleepy reindeer "No, its just... I'm worried when i wake up you'll be gone" With a sad sigh you lean down a place a kiss on Choppers forehead "I'm not going anywhere unless it's with this crew. I love the Doctor and yes i miss the sights but I'd rather be here. I can't imagine being anywhere else" Chopper sniffles before hugging you tight trying not to cry again while you rub his back "You mean it? You won't leave with him?" You nod laying him back down and covering him up before holding out your Pinkie "I promise, i won't leave this crew" With a smile the little reindeer takes your pinkie finger and nods knowing you will keep that promise. Placing a kiss on his head you tuck him in and then head to the door "Good night Chopper" You whisper turning off the light and walking outside.

My Eto Ranger self insert is Cabbage! He's shipped with Kirinda/Lydia. he's a...janitor i suppose? its his job to keep the ship and common area clean. he's super antisocial but enjoys speaking to kirinda while cleaning because it's less stressful than talking face to face with a living person. He falls HARD for that robot and their relationship begins before kirinda gets his physical body back but cabbage certainly enjoys the goofball regardless of form
My One Piece self insert is Karma! He's shipped with Law and sometimes the heart pirates in general as a polyship. Hes the user of the ryu ryu no mi model chameleon. He joined the crew a little after Sabaody after stowing away. He's kind of a menace but hes their menace. hes really bad at his job because he doesn't have the skills to utilize his fruits powers correctly. Law unfortunately sympathizes with them having childhoods that parallel at points. I do not have a self insert that i ship with Deuce. I have delusions about being Ace and we were partners
My GoBB self insert is named Eddie! Theyre an anteater who was made to work with disabled children and theyre shipped with Banban! I hope that doesnt sound weird I was in and out of sped classes as a kid so I wanted to reflect that.
My Kamen Rider self insert is Jules! They're shipped with Kaito and are a member of team baron. They dont really have any lore yet except for hardcore yearning lol. Might make them a rider too?
My Supernatural self insert is Voltaire!!! Hes shipped with Rowena hes a nachzehrer and certified menace. His ass should be dead but free will keep him alive bc hes Rowenas little play thang and keeps her slightly in line. Not by much. His heads so empty only thoughts of his pack and beautiful older women
My Bugsnax self insert is Sunnie Cuteloop theyre a magician! They heart Shelda we love faking magic. Two dif kinds of magic but you know.
My Pokemon self insert is currently unnamed and shipped with Olympia! They're also a magician I swear im not unoriginal I just do magic irl. They're the child of Hocus from the Oblivia region but moved to Kalos to pursue their career. They want to separate from their father and aim to be a better magician than he ever was.
My Invader Zim self insert is Tiere Ley a vortian scientist. They've been with Lard Nar since before the war but didn't officially get together till the Resisty was formed.

"Quinn!" someone yells into the tavern, kicking the door open. Dawson spins around on his stool at the same time as Quinn absolutely groans, dropping his head until his chin smacks his chest. "I knew it!"
Jack strides into the Electric Eel, two familiar suspects nipping at his heels. One is quite short, even by 18th-century standards, but power coils through his muscles. Even so, he offers a quirky, freckled grin. Arber catches it and waves back. The other person is slightly taller than Jack and looks even more like a drowned rat, if that were possible. Tattoos wind around one of his arms, clearly patchwork and done by some sailor with little experience but enough gunpowder and imagination to make it work.
"I told you!" Jack continues his chatterboxing, the short pirate taking the seat to Arber's right and the taller one leaving an empty spot between the short one and his own seat, presumably for Jack. "I told you that if Cole and I were both here, Old Mallard would show!"
Quinn bustles back to behind the counter, getting two beers for Jack, who only now takes his seat between his two friends, and the short pirate, Cole. He then fishes under the cabinet to pull out some whiskey, rolling his eyes as he slides the entire bottle to the man on the far end. "Trevor, if you cause a fucking scene again, I will personally kill you," he warns.
"You got it, boss," Trevor mock-salutes, already opening the bottle and taking a long gulp before vaguely pretending it's not burning his throat on the way down. Cole gives him a puzzled look that reads okay, tough guy.
"And I'll make it even better for you," the tavern owner bargains. "You can pick the hand I beat the fuck out of you with." He smirks, his gaze still dead inside as he stares Trevor down - he flexes his fingers on the neck of the bottle, chuckling awkwardly.
"Can we watch?" Cole now pipes up, sunny as ever.
Jack bursts into laughter. "And be next?" He wheezes for air. "Well, you'd be next. I'd get Mom to protect me." The master-at-arms sticks his tongue out at Quinn, who merely rolls his eyes at his little brother in response, deciding to get incredibly busy cleaning on the other side of the tavern to not deal with this shit.
"So, Zeegs," Cole takes a sip of his beer, "What's Old Mallard up to?"
Trevor rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. "Not much luck," he admits. "We thought we had a great target. Turns out it was Crown Jewel."
"Yiiikes," Jack breathes out.
"Yeah." He gulps down another long shot of whiskey, still trying to act macho, a façade that literally everyone at the bar is able to see through. "Thank fuck Jamie was at the wheel."
"Jamie's your new friend, huh?" Cole grins. It would look innocent enough to anyone who didn't know Cole Caufield, but to those acquainted with the tiny pirate, the expression would immediately be clocked as one of Starting Shit.
"Shut the fuck up," Trevor replies, as easily as breathing. He raises his bottle as if going to hit Cole with it; the latter pirate pretends to duck, giggling wildly as he does.
...It's getting loud in here, Dawson registers dimly.

As he noticed her eyes were beginning to flutter open, Crosshair tightened his grip on Clair’s body as he cradled her sleeping figure in his arms. The light from the sunny morning had just begun to peek in through the curtains, and the sound of her deep breathing was the only thing he could hear besides the occasional singing of birds. If Crosshair didn’t know better, he’d say he was back at the village with her rather than on Coruscant.
He’d woken up about an hour before that, this time opting against getting up from the bed before her. How could he? How could he bring himself to be anywhere but right next to her when she was simply so lovely, so peaceful and warm, when the memories of the previous day flooded his mind the moment he woke, even before? Flashes of her smile went through his mind, the musical sound of her laughter rung in his ears like heavenly chimes, and over the room, tell-tale signs of their day were scattered. The tiny lavender plant, Clair’s jewelry and tiara, her dress, the empty dishes.
It had rained almost all night on Coruscant, and that morning had been a sunny one with birds chirping and flowers seeking their beloved sunlight. The singing of the birds became in tune with Clair’s heartbeat as she slowly stirred back into consciousness, and the first thing she felt surround her was warmth. His warmth. And with that, her lips began to smile.
“Good morning, princess,” Crosshair said quietly, a smile curving his own lips.
Clair’s eyes finally opened. “Good morning, my prince,” she paused to yawn, burying her face in Crosshair’s bare chest as she did, only to rest there afterwards as she listened to his heart beating. “How long have you been awake?”
“Not very long.”
“That’s not very much like you,” she answered with the hint of a chuckle.
“It was a peaceful night,” he said. “I sleep better when I’m with you.”
“Listen to you being romantic—”
“Don’t tell the others.”
Clair chuckled and pressed a soft kiss to Crosshair’s chest. “I won’t. They know you’re a big softie, anyway.”
Crosshair chuckled and kissed the top of her head, gently taking some of her black locks in his fingers and tracing patterns onto her scalp. Clair then looked up at Crosshair and she wrapped her arms around him, bringing him closer than they both thought possible as they looked each other in the eyes for a bit before closing the gap between their lips, indulging in a warm, loving kiss.
“You watched me sleep,” she said softly.
“I did.”
“And?” She giggled. “Do I make weird faces? Do I snore?”
“You’re actually very peaceful when you sleep,” he said, without any joke or sarcasm in his voice. “It brings me peace too. I could watch you every day.”
Clair grinned brightly at him despite being so sleepy and groggy from having just woken up. “I love you, you know that?”
“I know, Dumpling,” he kissed her forehead. “I love you too.”
Smiling, Clair leaned her head on his chest again and felt his warmth.
“You do mumble, though,” Crosshair broke the silence.
Clair lifted her head up. “Oh? What do I mumble about when I sleep?”
Crosshair smirked. “At one point, you said my name.”
She raised a brow at him. “Did I really?”
He nodded at her. “A few minutes after that, you said cheese, and then you rambled about some stuff I didn’t get. You were actually just making noises.”
Clair snickered. “Yep, sounds like me.”
Crosshair chuckled and kissed her forehead one more time. “I wish we could stay like this all day, but…”
“You have to be back at the Senate?”
“Yes.”
She began to get up. “See, I find the whole idea of ‘leaving my army duties aside for you’ romantic and all, but I really don’t want you to be late.”
“You’ll find I feel the same way,” Crosshair got out of the bed after her. “Shame we don’t have a time to take separate baths,” he slurred at her as a smirk crept onto his lips.
“You don’t strike me as someone who likes things quick and sloppy, Berry Pie,” Clair winked at him. “Believe me, you’ve shown me quite the opposite.”
With that same smirk, Crosshair growled at her playfully and followed her into the hotel room’s refresher. The hot water began coming out almost instantly and they both stepped in, kissing each other passionately, both of them with soap-filled hands getting the job done quickly. As he washed her hair, Crosshair made sure to get some kissing on Clair’s earlobes, her neck, her jaw, and finally her lips again, finding she looked stunning with water showering over her, seeming like a goddess bathing in a waterfall in that hotel-room refresher. He worshipped her; despite his duties, Clair was still the only concept present in his mind.
Despite their lovemaking, they made really good time. In a matter of minutes, they were both washed, dressed, and carrying their things to go and check out of the hotel, and outside of it, the droid and transport from the day before were waiting for them to take them back to the Senate building. Clair and Crosshair held hands the whole way, coming out of that hotel much closer than even the day before. Even the busy city of Coruscant had a different glow to it, making it seem a more beautiful place than it usually was.
Though it was still pretty early and the sun was just beginning its journey up the sky, the Senate building was busy and concurred as ever. Both well-dressed from their day before, they managed to blend in far better than the first time they arrived. Hand in hand and carrying their haul from the day before, Crosshair led Clair back to her room after which he planned to return to his barracks, nearly certain he’d find his brothers there. However, they were intercepted by the armored Bad Batch only lacking their helmets, flanked by commander Wolffe and another couple of troopers from his battalion.
“You actually made it back early,” Hunter said, unable to hide the smirk forming in his face.
“What is all that?” Wrecker pointed out the plant, the jewelry, the tiara, and Clair couldn’t help but blush a bit.
“It’s just my stuff,” she said sweetly.
As Clair quietly showed Tech and Wrecker her haul, proud and happy that Crosshair had spoiled her so much, Hunter exchanged a look with Crosshair. The sniper quickly looked away, never much for long periods of affection or telepathic conversation with his brothers, but Hunter kept looking proudly at him. His brother really had grown a lot, and he was more than capable, if not the only one capable, of giving Clair so much care.
“Anyway…” Hunter interrupted the wholesome moment. “Crosshair, you should suit up. The Jedi council will give the verdict on what proceeds regarding the whole pirate matter in about half an hour, and we all have to be there.”
“Thought so,” Crosshair answered. “Do we know what it’s going to be?”
“Not officially,” Hunter replied. “But it looks good so far. Talk has been happening since we arrived on a strategy to strike at them once and for all, and stop all their attacks instead of just letting them stop whenever they think they’ve made their point.”
“Casualties and wounded people would be prevented,” Clair said.
Hunter looked at her, suddenly melancholic, as were the rest of the batchers. In those amazing days Clair had been with them, with her wit, her kindness, her good energy, it seemed they’d forgotten why she was with them in the first place.
“Well that’s a relief,” Clair continued with a sigh. “Nobody wants to see them brought to justice more than the very people they affected.”
“I believe you, Clair,” Hunter said. “In fact, we brought up your knowledge of healing blends. If all goes accordingly and if you want to, we could use some of them in case anyone gets hurt.”
Clair’s chest tightened at the thought of any of them being hurt, even though she’d seen Crosshair’s scars before. They were soldiers, they knew what they were getting into and were strong enough to endure wounds, and she knew the purpose of healing blends was for them to be used at some point, though preferably not being touched.
“I’ll gladly help,” she answered. “I can even start some in advance.”
Hunter smiled at her. “Good. Now we just have to wait for the order. It really seems everything’s going to go according to plan.”
“And I can’t wait to kick pirate ass,” Wrecker smirked, smashing his fist into his palm. Tech nodded in agreement, and Clair noticed Crosshair’s eyes narrowing. She knew what he was thinking, she knew Crosshair was the one most anxious to snipe pirates away, she knew he wanted to do it for her.
“All in due time, Wreck,” Hunter calmed his massive brother down and turned to Crosshair. “Go get ready. You look nice, but you’re not on a date with her anymore. They won’t let you into the Jedi Council looking like that.”
Crosshair rolled his eyes at Hunter, but then he looked at Clair and handed her a few of the things he was carrying.
“Sorry I couldn’t walk you back to the room,” he told her.
“Don’t worry, I’ll get there fine,” she smiled up at him. “I guess I’ll wait for you there.”
“No,” Wolffe spoke up. “The council wants you at the briefing as well.”
“Me?”
“Yes,” he said. “As a refugee, you represent everyone who was affected, and you have the right to know what’s going to happen.”
“Oh,” Clair said, a bit baffled by being given so much importance in the matter, but she supposed Wolffe was right. “That’s actually very considerate.”
“It was Master Plo’s idea.”
Clair smiled at the thought of Plo Koon, how he’d been so kind to her. She hoped the other Jedi would be like him.
She did, in a way, represent those affected by the attacks, even though the Bad Batch had insisted she remained with them. But like her, the refugees had ended up in a variety of situations. Bree had gone off-world with her family, others had been taken to shelters in Theed, others hadn’t been so lucky, and those were just on Naboo. So many, like her, lost everything.
Clair got memories of the Allium cafeteria, her baking, the smell of the kitchen, all the food being cooked and bread being baked, the sound of laughter from her customers, the first time she saw Crosshair looking at her as he sat in one of the tables with his three brothers. The way it went up in flames, and how it barely resembled itself once the fire was put out and it was scorched and black from the outside, how even her apartment had been consumed.
All it did was remind her why she was there, what she needed to accomplish, for her sake and that of the many others who had gone through similar as her, some even worse. At that moment, Clair truly hoped they were in store for good news and a way to end the conflict in justice. Those pirates didn’t deserve to roam freely around the galaxy.
“Where do I meet you then?” Clair asked Hunter.
“Be back here in fifteen.”
She nodded and smiled softly at Crosshair as she left for her room while Crosshair began heading for his barracks.
Clair arrived at her room and quickly got to it. She grabbed one of the bags from the wardrobe, a pale pink one that was almost beige, was decently sized and had many compartments. She put in everything Crosshair had spoiled her with (as well as made a mental note to herself that she had to spoil him more often too) and slipped out of her dress, folded it neatly, and put it in the bag alongside her regular feeling. With things being defined, it was likely she’d move somewhere differently. Despite her not being an actual part in the mission, Clair got a feeling she’d need to be ready. Besides, the clothes in that wardrobe were hers now, what with her virtually having nothing else.
Aware she was going to meet with the Jedi Council, Clair took out a long, flowy brown skirt printed with pink flowers and its green leaves, and she accompanied it with a plain, burgundy blouse. For jewelry, she wore the necklace Crosshair had gifted her and she combed her hair so it would look presentable. She then took out a few more of the clothes from the wardrobe, not wanting to take all of them, and put them inside the bag as well.
In the kitchen of the apartment, she still had some vials of blends she’d prepared in the course as well as of lone, spare herbs ready to be used. She went ahead and put those in the bag too; they wouldn’t be enough for any formal mission’s requirements, but they’d make a good start and she could always make more. She considered she’d have time to prepare whenever the mission was declared. When she considered she was ready, Clair left the bag on top of the bed and headed back out of the room, ready to meet up with the batch again.
They were already waiting for her in the hall and it seemed she was the last one to arrive; Crosshair was already there, armored and ready. Clair had gotten used to seeing him in actual clothing, but she did love the way he looked in his armor. His helmet was her favorite part, something she hadn’t told him yet. A smile crept up on her face when she saw him, seeming so tall and professional, truly her knight.
“You’re done early,” Hunter told her. “You ready?”
Clair felt her heart beating faster. “I think so.”
“What is it?”
“You’re expecting me to go before the Jedi Council,” she replied. “I think I’m only just realizing what that means.”
“You’ll be fine,” Tech encouraged her. “They know you’re a civilian and won’t ask anything that exceeds your capabilities.”
“Thanks, but that’s not exactly what worries me,” she said. “Just being under their gazes might make me pulverize.”
“I repeat, you’ll be fine. That won’t happen to you—not literally, at least.”
Clair smiled blankly at Tech. “You do know how to comfort.”
“Alright, enough chatter, everyone,” Wolffe cut in. “General Plo has contacted me, the council’s ready for us.”
The news from Wolffe didn’t help Clair’s nerves much, but Crosshair walked up next to her and brushed his gloved fingers against the back of her palm, and when their gazes met he gave her a small nod. Clair sighed and nodded back at him, wishing she could cling to him for some sense of stability. Hell, he could carry her for all she cared, she’d still be nervous. Bet the decree was supposed to be a good one, she’d finally hear the words coming from the Jedi council that the ones responsible for her loss and that of so many others would be prosecuted and brought to justice. It was worth the nerves, it was worth everything, and she’d be going in with the four men she trusted most in the universe.
Commander Wolffe led the way to the eastern wing of the Senate building where they arrived at a large, opulent conference room with chairs surrounding the center, a place the Jedi council went to when they needed to treat politics rather than official Jedi matters back at their temple. Clair immediately recognized Plo Koon and his presence showered a wave of comfort over her, but the rest of the Jedi council inevitably caught her attention. It was diverse, comprised of humans and other species, males and females. There were also clones from the Coruscant guard at the corners of the room, and in the chair on the far east sat the Chancellor himself. Clair kept from panicking and forced herself to adapt quickly; she wasn’t told Palpatine would be there, but she decided to see it as a good sign.
Wolffe and his other two troopers went to flank Plo Koon where he sat, and meanwhile, Clair and the Bad Batch stood in the center of the room.
“Clone Force 99,” the Chancellor began, “it is good to see you here at last.”
Hunter lightly bowed. “We’re honored to be here.”
“The council and I are quite moved and impressed by the motion your squadron put forward,” Palpatine continued. “It is always honorable to seek justice, especially when one closely affected is of great importance to us.”
Momentarily, all the pairs of eyes in the room fell on Clair, and regardless, her knees remained solid.
“We realize the precarious state of the tragedy unleashed on Naboo and on so many other planets, and we sympathize with you for all of your losses as well as all those affected by the attacks.”
“Thank you, Chancellor,” Clair answered solemnly.
“The Jedi council and I have been debating this over long hours, analyzing the proposed strategy given by the Grand Army of the Republic as well as the demands and conditions given by the pirate gangs regarding the attacks,” Palpatine continued. “After keeping in mind every point of view, however, the Republic and its militia, which includes the Jedi Order, have decided not to get further involved in the retaliation.”
Silence. It took Clair some moments to process what he’d said, the way it had changed course so abruptly. While she did, the batchers exchanged looks with each other, and Crosshair couldn’t help the way his eyes narrowed in disgust at the decree. The four Coruscant guard soldiers exchanged looks too from across the room, and even Wolffe himself seemed surprised at the news. Clair kept silent, her words balling up in her throat as she struggled to settle on something to say, a part of her still not believing it was real.
“Beg pardon?” She stuttered.
“My dear, I realize this comes as a shock to you,” Palpatine tapped his fingers together in his usual manner. “However, the terms of the threat are very clear. Further involvement with these pirates will lead to more attacks, and the Republic does not want to get involved in a separate, smaller war.”
Clair slowly shook her head. “If I may,” her voice shook as she begged herself to keep her tone as reasonable and respectful as she could, “that would be the equivalent of letting this terrorist group—because that’s what they became the moment those bombs detonated—do whatever they want with you and with civilians without a single boundary. You must realize it’s wrong.”
“We simply do not want to endorse further conflict.”
“But what if that’s needed for there to be justice?” Clair retaliated and she turned to the Jedi around her. “You must all believe in justice, standing by while others get hurt surely isn’t the Jedi way!”
“We believe in keeping the peace,” said one of the members of the council.
“The Jedi are leading the Clone War,” Clair said. “You must know that peacekeeping is not black and white.”
“Not when we have armed and trained soldiers at our side,” Palpatine said.
“Which you still would for the intervention we request,” Clair spoke.
“And it would continue to put civilian lives at risk.”
Clair heard the increasing threat in Palpatine’s voice, and her anger began to stir too.
“More lives will be at risk if you don’t do anything,” she said. “Lives have already been lost. I lost everything because of those pirates. My life’s work, that took years of studying, effort, all the money I had saved. I lost my home, everything I possessed except for the clothes on my back, and I’m only here because these four men refused to leave me to my luck in a refugee program that happens to be flawed. And I was lucky to have them there at the time, others had a much harder time figuring out what to do.”
“We are aware of this squadron’s difficulty to behave according to protocol.”
“Which I’m sure is a blessing when you need it to be,” she accused, disgusted at the hypocrisy surrounding her boys. “But more to the point, if you stand by now and do nothing, you’ll only prove to these pirates—and anyone else—that they can do whatever they want with you. That all it takes is a threat and you’ll leave them be. If you prove to them you won’t stand up to them, you’ll also prove to your citizens that you won’t stand up for us.”
Her words were powerful, but her tone was sad. Her eyes were too, those big eyes that never hid a single emotion. Looks were exchanged all over the room; at times, pitiful gazes fell over Clair, and behind her, Crosshair and Hunter exchanged a look, both of them fuming. Meanwhile, Clair felt disappointed, hopeless even. That was what she’d lost. Any sort of hope that the Republic could help had faded, just as she imagined the hope fading in a refugee who continuously waited for aid that would never come.
“I beg you to reconsider,” she said, her voice quieter now, breaking.
“I’m afraid this decision is final,” Palpatine said, his gaze displaying a sympathy that could not have been faker. “We simply deemed it important for you to know, since you do represent those affected by this unfortunate circumstance. However, we are confident the attacks will stop. It’s truly for the best.”
Clair knew nothing she could say would change their mind. If preparation, a well planned out strategy, and a noble cause couldn’t get them to go through with it, there was no way she, a mere baker and a refugee, would be able to do. Like her, there were thousands, thousands who had already been ignored when they desperately needed aid. Her heart broke as she understood more of the bad chatter that went around the galaxy.
“Anyways, I believe with that, this meeting can be dismissed. We are sorry for the inconvenience,” said the Chancellor. “You may stay as long as you need, as for Squad 99, you may wait for your next mission.”
Crosshair and Hunter once again exchanged looks, and though they were both clearly mad, they limited themselves to nodding respectfully at the Chancellor a final time. Clair looked over at Plo Koon, her final hope for anything, but she could see his facial muscles downcast; clearly he was disappointed too. With that, she knew it was final. It was over. Nothing would be done by the only ones who had a shot at doing anything, and she’d have to deal with that.
“Thank you,” she said. For nothing, she might as well have added, but she didn’t find it in her to muster any spunk after such a sour decree. The rest of the batch acknowledged the Chancellor and the Jedi council as well, and they then turned their backs and headed back towards the hallway, Clair walking with Crosshair’s hand protectively on her shoulder.
The door closed behind them; the hallway was empty and quiet, but Clair led them down several meters so as to not be right in front of them when everyone else exited the room. She was quiet, too quiet, and it was a silence that worried the boys. They’d never seen her like that, though they feared it was the only sane way for her to feel. Everything about the situation was unfair, they knew it all too well.
Upon reaching the elevators, Clair stopped, leaning on the wall for a bit as the four clones made their way in front of her, all of them looking at her with concern. Crosshair still held onto Clair, squeezing her shoulder to hopefully bring her attention to him, but her eyes remained on the floor a bit more. She didn’t want to look up at Crosshair with angry eyes.
“So… what happens now?” Wrecker asked softly.
“Nothing,” her voice was barely a whisper. “We go on as if nothing happened because indeed nothing happened.”
“We won’t condone it,” Hunter said firmly.
“I appreciate the thought, but you all still answer to the Republic,” she told them.
At the mention of that, the four clones exchanged looks with each other; it was one of those moments in which they all thought the same thing.
“It’s not worth complicating things,” she said. “And I don’t want you guys getting into trouble.”
“We’re used to being the problem squad,” Hunter told her.
“But not over this,” she said, and then drifted into silence again. Just then, they heard faint steps approaching them, revealing to be Wolffe and his other two troopers. The commander removed his helmet and his eyes were soft when they landed on Clair, a sight anyone rarely got to see. He seemed disappointed too.
Wolffe sighed. “None of us saw it coming. General Plo did mention some hesitation from the council but it all painted as though they were going to go through with it. He said there was never any reason to worry, ultimately it was the Chancellor’s decision.”
Clair nodded sadly. “It’s fine… I know if anyone wanted to support—” she was about to say me, “—the cause, it was General Plo.”
Despite her words, Wolffe understood it wasn’t fine in any way, and his softness didn’t fade. All differences with the Bad Batch aside, he did care for Clair. He could also recognize when a helpless civilian was cast aside like garbage, something his squad would also never stand for.
“I really am sorry,” Wolffe said.
Her lips barely curved, directing a small, sad smile at the commander. “It’s not your fault. But thanks.”
He returned the gesture and then addressed Hunter. “Gentlemen.”
“Commander,” Hunter mirrored the respectful tone. Being acknowledged as gentlemen was a first for all of them.
Wolffe and the other soldiers walked away, leaving the five of them alone again. Clair then looked warily over her shoulder where the briefing room was.
“I don’t want to be out here when everyone else comes out,” she said.
“I quite agree,” Tech muttered.
“Right,” Hunter said and looked at Crosshair. “You’ve got this. We’ll be at the barracks.”
Crosshair nodded back at his brother, and somehow, it seemed his gesture carried more intention than it usually did. In turn, Hunter then looked at Wrecker and Tech before they walked off, and Hunter whispered something to Tech that Clair could barely make out.
“Get the ship ready.”
They then got on the elevator and left Clair and Crosshair in the hallway, and Crosshair took her hand and started leading her westward to eventually arrive at a terrace in that same floor. It had trees, benches, and some people minding their own business, all of them dressed so elegantly that they were most definitely politicians. Clair found a bench under the shade of a tree and sat down while Crosshair stood in front of her, looking down at her with soft eyes only she could earn.
“You sounded like a senator in there,” Crosshair thought out loud.
“Maybe if I was a senator, they would have paid attention to me. Or perhaps not even then, in view of the circumstances.”
Crosshair sighed and sat next to her; his fingers still locked with hers.
Clair sighed. “I never wanted to tell you this…”
He raised an eyebrow at her and waited for her to go on, and then she sighed again.
“More and more people are losing their faith in the Republic,” she said. “All the things they say, the reasons they give… I never wanted to believe it until now. I’d hear so much of that talk back at the Allium, in the streets, and that was on Naboo. On that tiny, boring town on Naboo. I can’t imagine what it’s like in the rest of the galaxy. They all feel abandoned. We’ve all been abandoned…”
“I know I wouldn’t be loyal if I were abandoned,” Crosshair said quietly.
“Not that I would blame you for it,” she said before taking another deep breath.
He sighed. “They betrayed everything we stand for, even with our own peculiar mindsets.”
Clair absently looked forward. “I can’t believe it.”
His eyes fell on her; he knew Clair wouldn’t appreciate any pity from him. But he was worried about her. Just the day before and that morning she had seemed so radiant, so hopeful, happy. As much as Crosshair didn’t want the decree to bring her down, he knew it was inevitable. He gently squeezed her palm, if only to let her know he’d be there no matter what, but her gaze was still lost. She was still processing it all. Then, Clair stood up and made her way to the edge of the terrace, resting her hands on the railing and gazing out at the city, her eyes unchanged in their emotion. Crosshair was still at the bench, watching her, trying to understand how she felt. He couldn’t do so entirely since all his life he’d been with his brothers, he’d had people with him from the start. The very way he got together with Clair in the first place was proof he’d never been completely alone before, and all he could do was imagine the loneliness Clair felt at the moment.
He and his brothers were the closest thing she had to a family. Her home was gone. Her life’s work, a restaurant she’d put so much effort into, had vanished, and she’d received no compensation in any way. Her savings were scarce, and even her assistant, who had seemed like a best friend to her, had moved to a planet, and they didn’t know where exactly. True, there was the village, and there was Mora. The lake, the forest, a place Clair had enjoyed and would like to settle down if she had to, but that was the thing. It seemed she now had to, because those with the power to do something in defense of the civilians had opted out. Clair had every right to be frustrated, and that was putting it mildly.
The wind blew past her hair and Clair’s thoughts took no peculiar form, she simply found herself missing forests and the chirping of birds as she stared out into the city skyline. In the nothingness she felt, she then felt a pair of lean, strong hands circling around her waist before arms wrapped around her and Crosshair pressed his body onto hers, his scent surrounding her from behind. Being much taller than she was, Crosshair had to bend to rest his chin on top of her head as his hands found their way to hold both of hers on the railing, and there the two remained, staring at the openness.
After some moments in silence, Crosshair led Clair back to the bench, the area which had luckily been deserted as the politicians had to return to their duties. When they were almost at the bench, Crosshair secured Clair and picked her up, cradling her in his arms, and he sat down at the bench with her still safely in his grip. He held her close, her ear up against his chest as her arms snaked around him and she rested on him, defeated.
“You’re not alone, alright?” Crosshair muttered. “I’m not leaving you and neither are my brothers. They’re your family now too.”
When she let out the first sniffle, Crosshair felt his heart shatter. Her arms tightened around him, and Crosshair secured his grip on her as well, his cheek now resting at the top of her head, wanting to destroy the senate building with every time Clair sniffled.
“I want to go back to the village,” she said, her voice breaking. “I want to go back and I don’t want to leave. I’ll work for Mora and live in the woods, I don’t care.”
“I was thinking the same thing,” Crosshair said in a soothing tone, lifting his head slightly to press a kiss to Clair’s temple.
“You have your missions,” she said. “I could be at the village while you’re off—”
“Forget about that.”
“Crosshair, you still have your duty—”
“I said forget it.”
“Listen,” she straightened up. “I know if it were up to the clone army rather than the Chancellor, things would have gone differently. The Republic desperately needs uninterested troopers who will do the right thing.”
“Except that screws up my plan,” Crosshair said.
Clair didn’t quite understand what he meant, she simply hugged him tighter. She felt helpless, and it was one of the worst feelings anyone could experience. What she’d just heard in that briefing room was everything that was wrong with the galaxy, with the way it was governed—she felt naïve for believing and hoping too much.
Crosshair ran his gloved fingers through her hair, somehow managing to calm her down. “There will always be people willing to do the right thing. We’re simply unlucky those people aren’t our leaders. But when that happens, you have to take comfort in those you have around you. We’ll do anything for you.”
Clair looked up at Crosshair, tears still flooding her eyes. It took all his power not to shatter; Clair’s tears were enough of a weapon on him, capable of bringing him to his knees and making him accede to any condition just to get her to stop crying, but he knew he had to be strong for her.
“I’ll do anything for you,” he concluded.
“Cross,” Clair whimpered and wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on her shoulder as she cried her eyes out. Crosshair held her tightly as she cried and then shifted her so that his forehead would rest on hers, silently helping her get through her anguish. Her tears eventually stopped flowing from her eyes and her sobs became sniffles once more, and at last she was only breathing, feeling Crosshair’s warmth and presence.
Once he stopped feeling her shaking, Crosshair put her down on the bench. He got up and paced away a bit, leaving Clair alone just for a bit before returning with a flower in his hand, a tiny pink wildflower he’d found and picked from one of the plants. Clair sniffled and wiped her eyes before taking the tiny flower, a smile finally brightening up her face.
“Thanks,” she said.
Crosshair smiled softly at her and took her hand, pulling her up to standing. “We gotta go. We’re going to your room and you’re grabbing your things, then we’re heading for the ship. We’ve got nothing more to do here.”
“Yeah, I suppose you’re right,” she said. “Have you been assigned anything yet?”
“No.”
“Well?”
“That doesn’t matter. We always drift anyway.”
Clair nodded and linked her arm with Crosshairs, still holding gently onto the tiny flower. Examining it, she figured she could sundry it and keep it in a journal, or in a picture frame, maybe. She’d eventually know what to do with it.
It appeared her hunch had been right, and Clair was happy she’d left everything she needed in the bag before the briefing. Upon remembering the awful result of it, Clair grabbed another couple of clothes from the closet out of spite; she was too mad to deem it a petty gesture, and she kept that in mind as she shoved the clothes into the back. She then swung it over her shoulder and met Crosshair at the entrance of the apartment, the wildflower still clearly in view, and the two walked down together to eventually group with the bad batch at one of the landing bays.
Steam was coming from the Marauder’s exhaust ports, its silent hiss mostly only noticeable to Hunter amidst all the noise. There was a lot of it even considering that this landing bay was among the most deserted ones at that hour. He stood at the bottom of the Marauder’s stairs, eyes peeled for Clair and Crosshair. Wrecker and Tech soon exited the ship and walked up behind him, all three of them warily staring at their surroundings.
“Just as a final confirmation,” Hunter began, trailing off on purpose.
“All in,” Wrecker crossed his arms.
“Likewise,” Tech added. “I have pre scrambled the ship’s signature. We’ll leave Coruscant with our current signature and I’ll be able to authorize the scrambling remotely while in hyperspace. The ship won’t be tracked, and I can further tweak any devices in our armor to not give off any signatures. They’re minor, but we won’t take that risk.”
“What about Cody?” Hunter said.
“I can’t do much about the transmissions we exchanged from the village,” Tech said. “But all they will be are past transmissions. He’ll have to guess whether we’re there or not. But I can make adjustments to our own comm channel, it’ll take too much effort for them to find us. That or a mind like mine, which the Republic does not have another one of.”
“Well done,” Hunter told him. “Are Crosshair’s things on board?”
“Yes.”
“Good. Now we wait.”
As they waited for the couple to arrive, they made their best effort to seem nonchalant, occasionally scanning the Coruscant Guard troopers that walked by. Nobody suspected anything, they merely stared a bit at the batchers, but that much they were used to. So far, things were going as smoothly as they could.
Clair and Crosshair eventually appeared from behind a corridor leading to the landing bay, and it didn’t take Hunter long at all to notice the flower she was holding. Subtly, he smiled at her and Crosshair; no doubt that was some sort of gesture from his brother. But Clair had a lingering sadness in her eyes, and Hunter hoped it would dissipate the farther away she was from the Senate.
What Clair had said at the briefing room when the chancellor had taken a jab at their squad had stuck with him. She was right, the Batch were often treated badly. They had been since they were cadets, always pointed at for being different. But coincidentally, they were regarded highly whenever they were required to do a special mission, and more often than not, something that involved dirty work. Then they were an elite squad, not a group of defective clones with a difficulty for following orders and adhering to protocol.
As a group and a family, they were never much for upholding the Republic’s ideals in battle, or giving the war’s purpose a good name. Usually they just went to their missions, blew stuff up, enjoyed showing off in front of regs and even more when they expressed any jealousy. But at their core, they always did what was right, and they were always loyal to each other. That included Clair now, it had since the moment they saw her on the paramedics’ bed covered by a blanket after the attack that cost her everything. And if the Republic was willing to stand by and do nothing while it just stuck to the political aspects of its war, that was something the Bad Batch wouldn’t stand for.
Looking at Clair with the bag swung over her shoulder, her hand holding Crosshair’s and all ready to climb on the ship with them, Hunter reminded himself he at least would have to return to Coruscant eventually. It pained him that he had to leave so abruptly, but he knew Scarlett understood. He’d left her a message explaining everything. He’d return for her in the near future when things settled down.
“We’re here,” Crosshair said.
“No shit,” Wrecker answered and lightly shoved Crosshair in his classic brotherly manner, a solid attempt to lighten everyone’s mood.
“Good, get on the ship,” Hunter said. He’d be the last one on board, always making sure his own were safe and ready to go.
Tech was the first one in the ship, all ready at the pilot’s chair. Wrecker gestured at Clair to get on and she was halfway up the steps when she noticed Wrecker becoming wary, his gaze trailed in the direction she and Crosshair had come from. At the bottom of the ramp, Wrecker nudged Hunter, who then looked in that same direction.
Commander Wolffe was approaching them, by himself, removing his helmet as he reached them. Everyone stopped, looking at the trooper and expecting whatever it was he had to say. Though he seemed gruff as ever, there was some level of emotion in Wolffe’s eyes as he looked at the Batch, and specifically, at the flower Clair held in her hand.
“I’m afraid I cannot let you do this,” Wolffe said.
“Do what?” Said Hunter.
“At least have the decency to not lie to me in the face.”
“Why don’t you go on and tell us what you’re thinking?”
“I know you don’t agree with the action the GAR just took,” Wolffe said. “I don’t either, but that is no reason to desert and live as runaways. I don’t like you, but you’re too good a squad. Think about what you’re doing.”
“We’re not endorsing a Republic who cowers from its duty at the expense of civilians,” Crosshair growled.
“Yeah, and we won’t be its puppets either,” Wrecker added.
“Look, you’ve always been given more liberty than any other battalion. You don’t have to represent or endorse anything.”
“Clair’s important to us and she’s part of our family now. A personal blow to her is a blow to us,” Hunter said.
“Who said it was personal?” Wolffe said. “Look, I already told you, I’m on your side. But it’s my duty to not let you go through with this.”
“You’re not keeping us from going anywhere, commander.”
“See, that’s the thing. I’m a commander, I do outrank you, and for your sake as well as hers, I suggest you follow this order.”
Hunter grimaced. “That’s where you made your mistake. Pulling rank on us is never a good idea.”
Crosshair turned around and met eyes with Clair. “Get on the ship.”
“I’m not getting on without you,” she answered.
“Trust me,” he told her.
Her heart squeezed, but she knew to trust him. She turned around and got on the ship, her heart beginning to race as she felt the tension outside. She went to the cockpit with Tech, who was already aware of the situation and powering up the ship’s systems and prepping it for a hasty escape.
Meanwhile outside, Wolffe sighed. He wasn’t pleased with what he had to do, but he owed it to his code to do what he must. He began pulling out his blaster and aimed it at Hunter, and he, Crosshair, and Wrecker became defensive.
“Then I’m afraid I have to place you under arrest,” Wolffe said. “Clair will be fine, she won’t be processed. But that’s not a luxury I can grant the rest of you.”
“Sorry commander, I know you’re a good soldier and a good man,” Hunter said as he stopped Wrecker and Crosshair from pulling blasters out as well. “But this is bigger than duty. We are not serving a Republic who treats its own citizens like expendable assets, only helping when it’s convenient for them. It strips what little purpose the war had for us. I’m sure you’ll find it in you to understand.”
“Clair could have died in that explosion, instead, she only had to lose everything,” Crosshair said. “Later on Bespin, she was nearly kidnapped by those same pirates, Stars know what could have happened to her if I hadn’t arrived on time. Those are the people your Republic are letting run freely, and ironically, we’re the ones being placed under arrest. Surely even a reg like you can process that’s wrong.”
“I’ve had enough of your little complex,” Wolffe aimed the blaster at Crosshair, and Hunter stood between them with his hands up trying to calm the heated winds.
“Easy,” Hunter said.
“You’re under arrest,” Wolffe affirmed. “Get your hands where I can see them.”
At that moment, several shock troopers arrived behind Wolffe, only raising tensions further. From inside the Marauder, Clair listened to the conversation with her heart pounding against her chest and she looked nervously at the cockpit.
“Tech?” She muttered.
“On it,” he said as he powered up the engines, and the Marauder would be in the air whenever he commanded.
Outside, Wolffe and the rest of the soldiers heard the Marauder’s engines.
“Tell your trooper to power them down,” Wolffe said.
“No,” Hunter replied lowly, his hand hovering above his blaster.
“I dare you to repeat that,” Wolffe growled.
Crosshair and Wrecker were ready to blast their way out of there as well. Inside the ship, Clair was frantically looking for something, anything, she could use to help. She didn’t plan on watching her boys be arrested either.
“No,” Hunter repeated as he looked Wolffe straight in the eyes.
Just as Wolffe was about to give the shock troopers the order to stun them, Clair prepared one of the small, empty crates that could fit in her hand and, from behind the open door of the Marauder, she threw it at one of the troopers who had his blaster ready. It caught everyone off guard, giving her enough time to grab another one and throw it at another trooper, hitting the visor of his helmet (out of sheer luck) and breaking it, compromising his vision. Clair kept up the throwing with her prepared improvised ammo, and it gave her three boys outside enough time to react and stun some of the troopers threatening them while retreating into the Marauder.
Clair also threw some larger crates at her boys for them to cover themselves with or throw as well to intercept bolts, thought at one point, and of the shock troopers targeted Clair. She barely noticed the stun bolt coming at her and she quickly hid behind the door, whimpering at how close it had been to hitting her. The detail didn’t escape Crosshair’s eye, and he made that trooper his sole target, stunning him instantly in return.
Wrecker was the first one of the three inside the Marauder, providing cover from behind. When Crosshair was about get behind the wall as well, a stun bolt managed to hit him and he fell onto the ground, groaning in pain as he felt his muscles tensing up so much that he could barely move. Another stun bolt and he’d be unconscious.
“Cross!” Clair yelled in alarm as Wrecker bent to grab him and drag him into the ship.
“Cover Hunter!” He told Clair.
Hunter grabbed the blaster Crosshair had dropped and used both to stun most of the remaining troopers as he steadily retreated, all with the help of Clair’s crate throwing that confused the troopers enough to mess with their aim. With Crosshair safely in the ship, Hunter was the only one left; Clair threw one of the larger empty boxes that took out Wolffe and another two troopers, finally granting Hunter an opening to run into the Marauder. Tech had brought the ship off the ground before Hunter was fully inside, and the sergeant swiftly made his way inside as the Marauder finally drifted into the air, leaving the Senate building behind.
Clair felt her hands shaking from the adrenaline mixed with her worry for Crosshair as he kept grunting. Wrecker kept hold of him while Hunter hurried to the copilot’s chair and helped Tech out with the controls so that the engineer could focus on making the ship move fast. In seemingly no time, they were out of Coruscant’s atmosphere, and Tech punched in coordinates to finally make the jump to hyperspace.
Everyone on the ship exhaled in relief when they were finally in hyperspace, though the bitterness of what had went down on Coruscant lingered in the air. Crosshair’s grunts also filled the ship as he continued twitching in pain now and then, leaving for Wrecker to lift him up.
“I’ll take him to his cot,” he said. “We’ll have to wait for the effect to pass.”
“I can help him,” Clair said, but seeing Crosshair in pain was threatening to make her break. She denied that impulse, though. He’d been strong for her, now she wanted to be the strong one for his sake. Wrecker carried Crosshair off to his room and Clair opened her bag quickly and took out her supplies. In a kettle she began boiling water and mashed together thyme and black cherry, spare herbs she still had on hand from her course.
As the ship became steady in hyperspace, Hunter emerged from the cockpit to find Clair heating the water and working with the herbs. At first, he looked at her sadly, but watching her working inspired him a bit, and he soon found himself smiling at her.
“Those were some nice throws,” Hunter told her.
She chuckled sadly. “I had to do something.”
“I mean it,” he said. “You gave us a chance to escape.”
She smiled. “Guess I did. Glad I could help.”
Hunter could feel the way she was still tense.
“What happens now?” She then asked. “Why didn’t you tell me you wanted to desert?”
“We weren’t planning on attracting that much attention. But don’t worry, we’ll return to the village and settle down there.”
“Will that be enough?”
“We’ve taken precautions,” Hunter said. “We’ll be fine, I promise.”
Clair smiled sadly as she watched the kettle, waiting for the water to boil.
“Um…” she began. “Thanks… for everything you said…”
Hunter smiled at her. “Again, I mean it. You’re one of us now too.”
She felt some of the tension leaving her and the smile she mustered next was a bit more filled with hope. “I’m glad to know that.”
Just then the water began to boil; Clair removed it from the fire and placed the herbs in an infuser to make the tea. When it was finished steeping, she removed the blend and set it aside, pouring the tea into a cup. She looked at Hunter, who smiled almost proudly at her.
“Go,” he said. “He needs you.”
Clair smiled. “Yeah, I do too.”
She made her way towards the bunk rooms, quickly finding Crosshair’s as he and Wrecker were inside. Wrecker smiled up at Clair and got up, letting her in with a kind pat on her shoulder before he got out of the room. She then looked at Crosshair and relaxed when she noticed he wasn’t groaning anymore, but his body did look tense and his hands were balled up into fists and his chest heaved up and down as he breathed. He was sitting up with his back resting on the wall, and Clair sat next to him on the bed and held the cup up to his mouth.
“Drink this,” she told him, her voice soft enough to soothe his nerves.
He could barely move his hands, but Clair helped tilt the cup for him to drink. He took a few sips and with time he gradually began feeling his muscles relax, all while Clair sat unconditionally at his side.
“What’s in that?” He said a while after finishing the tea, feeling its effect slowly over his body.
“Thyme and black cherry, both herbs help relax muscles,” she explained. “That bolt made you tense, so I knew this would help.”
He was finally relaxed enough to smile and, feeling tired, he leaned his head on her shoulder.
“Thanks,” he said quietly.
Clair leaned her cheek on his silver hair and even gave the top of his head a soft kiss as they sat there in silence for a long while, enough for Crosshair to feel his body returning almost to normal.
“I can’t believe you did that for me,” Clair broke the silence.
Crosshair lifted his head up and looked her in the eyes. “Anything.”
She smiled at him, sad that it had meant him getting hurt, but touched nonetheless. They held each other’s hands and sat there in silence, eventually lying on the bed at eye level with each other, looking each other in the eyes.
Eventually, Crosshair felt better and strong enough to shift on his own, and he took Clair in his arms so that she’d rest her head on his chest. Holding her closely, he stroked her hair, hopefully allowing her to relax as well after how bad that day had been for her.
“It’s over now,” he told her. “You can relax too.”
His words made her realize how right he was. With them not part of the army anymore, they had to figure out what to do, and for Clair that meant settling down. She’d find Mora and work for her, make some sort of living, figure things out with Crosshair. It seemed a rather uncertain plan, but it was a good start.
The thought made her hug Crosshair more tightly. “I can’t wait to see the lake again.”
Crosshair smiled softly. “Me neither, Dumpling.”
He thought back to the time he nearly kissed her on that lake, only to be interrupted by Wrecker’s indiscreet yelling. Smiling at himself, he felt he’d get the chance to do that at last.
Yes, he at last had the chance to do a lot of things with her, and that was worth more than being in any army.

random assortment of one piece recs because why not
🍖 a glance that holds the world and all its seas by JacknessofHearts [T, Sanji/Usopp, 6k, Complete]
“God, again?!” Usopp looks down at Sanji who's sitting against a column and tilting his head back while pressing a tissue against his bleeding nose.
“Shu' ub,” Sanji growls. Or, he tries to. It sounds rather unimpressive.
“You're terrible,” Usopp says but he can't hold back the fond smile that's been blooming all over his face again and again ever since he's stepped foot on the Sunny after returning to Sabaody.-
It's the big party after defeating Hody Jones. Usopp gets Sanji away from all the mermaids. (Honestly, Sanji, these nosebleeds are disgusting.)
🍖 A Test of Endurance by Petracore [M, Crocodile/Doflamingo, 65k, WIP]
It’s strange the things that tie people back together. A backwards glance. A rash decision. Or in Crocodile and Doflamingo’s case, a severe psychotic episode in a dank alleyway at three in the morning. [Dofladile anthology with a tiny dollop of smut, now also with plot]
🍖 astra inclinant by Petracore [M, Gen(ish), 183k WIP]
Doflamingo’s mouth went dry. Rosi straightened, hands behind his back, as if he were about to start rocking on his heels. He looked exactly the same as when Doflamingo had last seen him. Sweat and dirt-stained, clothes worn, that thumbprint of their father’s blood at the corner of his chin from where Doflamingo had touched him.
Rationally, it couldn't have been real. He still surveyed the islands across the North Blue and kept a tap on the local news, but had long stopped expecting anything. It had been seven years after all. At this point, Rosi was either dead or didn’t want to be found.
“No,” Doflamingo growled, “No, no, you don’t get to do this to me.”
i.e. That one world in ten billion where Doflamingo tries really damn hard. And it's no prettier world by far. A tale of madness, blood and two brothers searching for each other in the dark. [An AU retelling of the Donquixote brothers]
🍖 Within Risk of Reason by Depths [G, Gen, 61k, WIP]
Sabo stared and thought, for a single, absolutely calm moment: fuck, I must be dead.
Dead and dreaming, he decided, staring down at his two brothers. His dead brother, and his littlest brother, glaring him down from the center of a burning junkyard.
🍖 A cascade of wonderful things by Amazaria [T, Gen, 31k, WIP]
Out of all the things Ace doesn't expect to happen today, getting pushed off the platform by one of his executioners is high on the list.
But, you know, since his little brother fell from the sky then challenged his captain for the Pirate King's throne, maybe that's his mistake. Maybe he should have expected it.
(or: in which Nami makes good use of her Mirage Tempo, Ace is very surprised, Whitebeard very happy, and Sengoku extremely homicidal.)
🍖 No Future by Enziroth [E, Katakuri/Sanji, 97k, WIP]
Katakuri is a man only his captain could stand up to, with a skill for observation that far outstrips his own and a sheer brute strength that could crush him in an instant.
Sanji can't quite understand how he's not dead yet.
🍖 Beginning the Next Dream by RikoJasmine [G, Gen, 50k, WIP]
In another world, Garp has a second son, and three boys get a father.
From a different point of view, an adult Monkey D. Luffy finds himself reborn in the past, and the former Pirate King gets a new perspective on his family.
(A Time Travel AU where Pirate King Luffy raises the ASL brothers.)
🍖 Acclimating by justria [E, Law/Luffy, 31k, Complete]
There are things that Law learns the hard way.
One is that, if you involve yourself in Luffy's life, the Strawhats will involve themselves in yours.
The other is that he is allowed to want, sometimes.
In which Luffy is goodness, and light, and love, and the Strawhats all saw it coming.
🍖 the serpent with the empty eyes by apollothyme [M, Calgara/Montblanc Norland, 15k, Complete]
When he is a child, the mark takes up the majority of his chest.
It’s a long winding spiral with triangles decorating its length and an empty dot in one of the ends. He spends many a moment in his youth tracing it with his chubby fingers, staring in contemplation at the black ink unique to him and him alone.
Well, not just him. His mother says there’s another person in the world with the very same mark as him. Still, as far as Noland knows, no one on his island has the same mark as him.

Ten Favorite Drarry Fic Recs
I’ve reached a bit of a follower milestone, and I thought, why not celebrate? I’m happy! This is an incredible feeling that I honestly can’t fully articulate in writing. Knowing someone enjoyed my work and presence enough that they’d want to be notified if I posted again just makes me squeal and want to hug everyone from joy!! Thank you to anyone who has ever left me kudos, a comment, a tag, a note, an emoji, a tag emoji!! I am endlessly grateful to you all for this support and kindness.
Now, since it’s party time, I’ve compiled a personal list of my ten favorite Drarry fics to share the love. This is by no means a stamp of quality (as there are thousands of brilliant fics out there) and neither is it a guarantee that these are everyone’s cup of tea. But they are certainly my cup of tea— my whole buffet honestly.
I chose fics that made me feel deeply. Fics that made me cry, laugh, throw my phone, squeal and wiggle and dance at the end. These (mostly) weren’t fics which answered deep philosophical questions. They were fics which instead showed me love and adventure, joys and betrayals, misunderstandings and occasionally unbelievable (but appreciated) levels of smut (you know who you are). These are stories I read to be entertained, entranced, delighted, and happy. These are stories that made me feel in love.
In honor of that (and of my Canva addiction) I’ve made little banners for each. I hope they do some justice to these works. I’ve tried to capture the feeling of each fic in just one image. Without further ado, read on to find out exactly what my guilty pleasure (as if Drarry isn’t enough) is:
Tumblr media
The Songbirds of Avebury Manor by Tessa Crowley [E, 18k]
Summary: Harry Potter presents as alpha at fifteen, and it is supposed to change his life for the better. Instead, it leads him to a beautiful noble omega he cannot have, a political plot he cannot escape, and a threat on his life.
This story. Oh my stars, this story. What can I even say to properly express how I feel about it? This is the Romeo and Juliet, the Pride and Prejudice, the Hades and Persephone of Drarry. Reading this made me feel like an unwedded Victorian lass waiting for her Prince Charming. It’s a wonderful Historical AU that throws around power dynamics and questions of who is worthy of love, freedom, and respect despite them. This is a brilliant portrait of deep romantic love. Harry’s dedication to Draco is all-encompassing, beautiful, intense, intimate— earth shattering, really. The way they fall in love despite class and situation made me want to cry and write poetry. This is a true fairytale romance.
Tumblr media
The Pirate and the Prince by @nerdherderette, maniacani [E, 49k]
Summary: Draco can't believe that fate and circumstance have made him a stowaway on the Master of Death's ship. He doesn't know what's worse: the dread pirate's legendary vendetta against the aristocracy, or the fact that his captor is the most infuriating yet irrefutably fascinating man Draco has ever met.
The moment I started this story I knew it was going to be an instant favorite. It’s swashbuckling, debonair yet disheveled, dangerous, fun, adventurous— everything you could desire from a romance on the high seas! Though they come from very different backgrounds, this Draco and Harry are a power couple to the core. Their romance is once again beautiful, intense, and dedicated, but this time it’s mixed with a healthy dose of self-exploration and mutual acceptance. But apart from romance this fic holds delicious secrecy and identity issues, an astounding knowledge of sailing ships, plenty of piratey shenanigans, some heart-wrenching found family dynamics, a cursing parrot, and a glorious angst with a happy ending finale!
Tumblr media
Soup-pocalypse and the Great Curry Cataclysm by SquadOfCats [E, 104k]
Summary: Eleven years after the war, Draco Malfoy leads a quiet, boring, and perfectly respectable life, thanks very much. Or, at least he does, until a sudden and very unexpected veela awakening causes him to throw soup all over Harry Potter in the middle of the Ministry cafeteria.
What can I say about Soup-pocalypse? It will lure you in with tales of Veelas and romance, and then it will kidnap you and throw you in cooking class and therapy. You’ll come out wondering what just happened and how two days have passed. There will, of course, be Veelas and romance aplenty, but it will be a caring romance, a familial romance, a supportive and kind and nurturing romance. This story feels like family, good cooking, sunny days, the deep heartbreak of change, and through all of it, the truth of a real and solid partnership. This is the humorous yet angst-ridden tale of two idiots learning to love as adults, and then in turn learning to face the world together.
Tumblr media
you’ve got the antidote for me by Kandakickass [M, 20k]
Summary: When Harry Potter unintentionally severs their soulbond before it can fully form, Draco Malfoy resigns himself to a slow death and decides not to burden Harry with a soulmate he's made it very clear he doesn't want.
He's never been selfless before, but for Harry, he can try.
Right then. On to the angstiest story I’ve ever read and truly enjoyed. Not just enjoyed, adored! Worshipped! Come back to time and again whenever I needed a good cry! Here is the beauty of it: this fic is deeply painful and heartbreaking, yet it steers clear of emotions like disgust and discomfort. Never once was it disturbing— only sorrowful, in the purest and most heart-wrenching way. Yet despite the pain strung throughout the majority of it, this fic left me feeling relieved and rejuvenated, the way one feels after crying their heart out over something simple. It’s an emotional release that does not leave you broken.
Tumblr media
On the Last Day of Our World by Sansa [E, 84k]
Summary: During a detention, Harry and Draco get locked in a strange room together overnight. When they escape the next morning, they discover they are alone. Love, angst and adventure abound as they struggle to survive in an empty world.
Truly one of my favorite takes on canon divergence. Truly. This is an exploration of isolation and the joys and comforts that come with it. It is the power couple Drarry to rule them all— a Draco and Harry so strongly connected, in love, and attuned to one another that the world could fall at their feet. This story leaves you on the edge of your seat until the very bitter end— one of those where the second things are briefly peaceful the world goes up in a new set of flames. Those of you who daydream about a partnership that needs no others, two souls who are each other’s family, friend, and future, and would gladly abandon everything to spend eternity alone together: this is for you.
Tumblr media
The Arc of the Pendulum by brummel [E, 30k]
Summary: After his father casts a mysterious curse on Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy is forced to try to make things right.
Yes. YES. YES!!! The Beauty and the Beast take you didn’t know you needed! Still canon-compliant to an extent, this is realistic and raw and incredible. Draco makes the choice to help Harry here, and the vulnerability of their interactions while Harry struggles with the curse is everything you could hope it to be. There’s a distinct fairytale atmosphere in this fic— both of them confined together, finding support and comfort in one another while struggling through the effects of the curse, and falling in love along the way. I could write sonnets about the ending using my tears for ink, but they shan’t be revealed here.
Tumblr media
Picking Up Pieces by Tessa Crowley [E, 43k]
Summary of Part One: Fifteen years after the War, Draco is a social recluse and award winning author. Harry is an auror who works too hard, ensuring his old war wounds never heal. They meet at a masque ball, unaware of each other's identities. In another situation, it would have been love at first sight. But for them, it would never be so simple.
Picking Up Pieces deserves no introduction, but if you haven’t read it yet, please find a blanket, and cup of tea, and a quiet place to read, cry, and recover. I sobbed my little heart out through the entire second half— the tears were really never ending. How does it end up on a reclist by a fluff lover like me? The answer is similar to Antidote— though this story broke me apart, it was never twisted nor ugly, never disturbing. It was an incredibly touching tale of redemption, forgiveness, human nature, and recompense. The writing does put you through the emotional wringer, but it leaves you relieved and whole. I would lay down my life for this Draco. He truly needs to be protected and loved at all costs. Even though I’m usually careful when recommending heavy stories, I would encourage everyone to read this— it made me feel new, it made me feel like I’d spent an hour crying in the shower, but most of all, it really did make me happy.
Tumblr media
Two Trees by LakeWitch [E, 36k]
Summary (shortened): In his Eighth year at Hogwarts, part of Draco Malfoy's probation is to see a Mind Healer once a week. Another part, unfortunately, is having to take Muggle Studies.
It wouldn't be so bad, really, if it weren't for the mandatory outing—a 'field trip'—booked at a Muggle lakeside retreat for the better part of five days. [...] Draco is determined to get it all over with as painlessly as possible. He'll keep his head down, and stay out of everyone's way. That is, until Pansy tells him—at the very last moment—that she's schemed to have Draco stay in the same room with Potter for the whole trip.
Just the two of them... in one room.
This is the comfort fic of all comfort fics. It feels like camping, like sitting by a lake in the sun, like marshmallows over a fire and sparks against a starry sky, and cool, feather-soft hotel sheets. Draco is dealing with several different anxieties here, but the brilliant setting and easy plot turn them into a cathartic read. This is a fic about young love and the ability to build bonds on trips. It made me remember my first crushes and the feeling of getting breakfast in a hotel lobby. There’s cuddling, there’s love, there’s some highly emo Draco (both warranted and unwarranted), and there’s a truckload of nature. Go read it!
Tumblr media
Your Place Or Mine? by @l0vegl0wsinthedark [E, 26k]
Summary: "This person is so much harder to hate. And I’m supposed to hate Malfoy. How the fuck else am I supposed to limit this to just sex?"
At first I was like, “Damn, Harry,” but then I was all, “Damn Harry!” but then I went, “DAMN Harry!” (interspersed with a lot of whistling and cursing). I could have slapped him, and you will want to. This is another Draco that deserves endless love and hot chocolate, with a Harry that deserves a good smack. I think about this fic weekly, and not just because it’s endlessly hot— although it is scorching hot, like how do you even write something that hot type of hot. Draco’s pining and Harry’s stupidity makes for the angstiest yet most satisfying friends-with-benefits-but-really-there’s-more combination, and the climax (pun intended) and resulting spill of emotions is everything anyone could hope for. Ten out of ten.
Tumblr media
The Courting by the Pureblood Who Only Has Five Milligrams of Romantic Intelligence and Thinks He’s Real Smooth by @cibeewastaken [T, 19k]
Summary (shortened): Draco could grab Potter and shove him into a stall before proceeding to suck his soul out of his dick, but secretly, deep down, in the part of Draco that he will never admit to anyone, he is (everyone pauses to shudder) a romantic. Potter is not someone Draco wants a one-off with. Potter is — Draco’s beloved!
So Draco decides to boldly go where no one has gone before: to put himself through scrutiny; their friends’ teasing and pranks; unsound romantic advice from a house-elf; wearing pretty clothes; all to try and win Potter’s heart through courtship...
This thing of beauty is exactly as hilarious as it sounds. However, it is so much more than the endless laughs (although there are many). It is sweet, tender, touching, and filled with glorious pining and misunderstandings. Inside you’ll find extravagant (the word was literally invented for Cibee’s Draco) outfits, confusing customs, a blanket that brought me to tears, one badass house-elf, one very confused beloved, absolutely no fornication (wink), and one hopelessly smitten pureblood. Be warned, this fic is actually three “What the fuck, Draco?”s in a trenchcoat. I read it when I want to laugh, facepalm, and submerge myself in the adorable stupidity that is Draco Malfoy in love. It is well worth your time and is sure to bring a smile to your face.
With this final fic we conclude my list on a happy note! It’s long, it’s tedious, and I had a spanking good time writing it. I hope these bring some joy or happy tears to your day.
Love, Vina

The fact that I'm in all of those fandoms you're writing 😃
Hello! I'll be known as the Sero Anon!
My yandere request for you is;
{Choose character} Sabo/Luffy/Sanji, or Hawks/Kirishima/Denki
[Plot]Reader is aware of their yandere tendecies and takes advantage of how much the yandere is in love until the yandere snaps
Luffy is an easy yandere to fall in line with.
it becomes really convenient really quick. He's not a very romantic person most of the time, so really it's just being the favorite crew mate at first. You don't have to help around the ship as much. You can sleep in later. You have final say on when your turn to keep watch is. A lot of the time you even end up sleeping in his captains' quarters with him, which is significantly more comfortable then the hammock you're used too.
Not to mention the extra food. You get all this, and all he wants is for you to sit on his lap sometimes and let him wrap his arms around you several time, or he'll wake you up at odd hours of the night just so he can talk to you when nobody else is around. Those can be kind of frustrating, but other times he just wants you to sit at his special spot with him. He has a need for you to be with him during his quiet moments, the rare ones that everyone is always fixated on.
The rest of the crew didn't really mind, they thought it was kind of funny for the most part. Robin would always give a knowing look, Zoro was definitely the most frustrated by it, but even he thought the captains blatant infactuation was fun. It wasn't like you weren't helpful, you just enjoyed the privileges you got. You were a pirate too after all, none of them were gonna blame you for acting like one.
So you couldn't help but be a bit surprised when Luffy decided for you that you were sharing a room now. It didn't change much, but him moving your stuff for you was unsettling. From there, you never really had any time away from your captain. And even when you were around other people, he didn't like when you payed attention to them. He wasn't violent to the crew, he'd just be louder, overwhelm you with him until the other person left, or until you gave in and gave him the attention he wanted.
Then he started waking you up more. Everytime he woke up, he'd wake you too. He couldn't stand being away from you for too long. You weren't really yourself, but the crew just worked around it. Sanji would give you an extra coffee, an extra strong coffee. They stop making as many jokes about being the captains favorite.
It was a rare occasion for you to wake up while Luffy was still asleep. You found yourself staring at his sleeping form. He was quiet. You were overwhelmed. You were tired. You realized you desperately wanted to leave, and to escape anywhere else but here. It wasn't worth it anymore, living like this wasn't worth how tired you were. How uncomfortable you were. How you felt more like a pet at this point then a favorite person.
But you couldn't leave. The Thousand Sunny was god only knows where. Surrounded by water. You were isolated with this man. Your captain. And the crew who loved each other, but him specifically more then anything. This was your life now.
Luffy stirred, and your stomach dropped.
But then he just turned away from you. You couldn't see his face or the rise and fall of his chest. It was the first time you could remember being awake and looking at anything else. The moment got to you. You slipped out of the bed, out of the room, and left.
You really didn't know where you were going as you wondered the dark and quiet halls. It was nice being alone. It was so much more tolerable being alone. You knew to avoid the crows nest, the deck really in general was to be avoided. You didn't know who was standing watch tonight, and unless it was Robin they'd probably try and chat.
You realized you were still tired, while you walked around the empty ship. The quiet made it easy.
You hadn't even realized how much you had really missed the quiet.
But good things don't last long for you, and much too soon for your liking, you heard a panicked yell.
Luffy was awake.
You didn't want to give up your isolation yet, you couldn't bear the thought of it. So thinking quickly, before everyone was up and looking, you ducked into a storage room and cuddled into a ball under some shelves. You pulled a crate in front of it to hide you for good measure.
You're so tired.
As you drift off to sleep you fantasize about the shelves crushing you, and it brings you more hope then any thought you'd had in a long time.
When you wake up the noise is louder. It's down the hall. Luffy's right outside, and you can feel the worry and anger and fear radiating off of him from where you were hidden.
"We'll find them. Nobody new has come on the ship, and for sure nobodies left. They probably just woke up and wanted a snack or something, then they fell asleep."
It was Robin. She was talking slow and soothing, probably trying to calm the worried teenager down.
"Yeah? Well they should've woken me up." He says it with a tone that makes you wish you'd stayed in bed with him.
You felt like it'd be better for everyone involved if you had been kidnapped or were being held hostage. Then this wouldn't be your fault. Then someone else would have to take the worst of his anger.
But there was nobody else. Just you.
The doors kicked open.
You feel like the panics gonna make you throw up.
"There's too many places to hide in here."
Usually it'd sound whiny, but it doesn't right now.
"Do you think they're hiding?"
"I think they need to be found."
You're sure this is it. You're so sure that you're about to be found. The confrontation is moments away, and you are in now way prepared for it. You don't have a good excuse. You don't know what else to do, so you go limp and pretend you're asleep.
"There's only a few places really for someone their size to fit comfortably in here. Shelves or the closet."
"Alright, well then go look under the shelves."
He's much more demanding then you ever realized.
You keep pretending you're asleep, so you're not sure when Robin's eyes find you. But they do. Then, the crate is being moved. You expect to be ripped out, to be shaken awake, for more yelling. You them to immediately try and "wake" you.
But they don't. Instead a wave of hands gently moves you out from where you were, into the light. You cant help but move to cover your face slightly. It's so bright, and it's what you'd do if you were actually sleeping too, right?
They still don't move to wake you, so you suppose it's gotta be working somewhat.
Then Luffy picks you up, and you know that you should say goodbye to any independence you'd had for a long time.
He's more careful then you'd expect though. He seems like he's really trying not to wake you. He carries you for such a long time. Then he drops you on the bed. Cruelly, suddenly. If you'd actually been asleep he would've absolutely woken you now.
"I know you're awake (y/n). I know what you look like when you're sleeping." He's always blunt, you have to remind yourself. But not like this, and you know that.
You should cut your losses. You know you should. So you make a move to sit up, but you're shoved back down.
"If you're tired then sleep."
You are tired. You're so tired. Why shouldn't you? it's not like staying awake will somehow make this all better. You're the closest to alone you can possibly be in your sleep. If he wants to tempt you, then you'll take him up on it.
When you wake up you're uncomfortable. That's not new. You usually wake up suffocating. Luffy's usually got his arms wrapped tightly around you when you wake up.
But not today. Right now your alone in the bed, with an uncomfortabley tight collar around your neck. It's connected to a chain leash, that's currently keeping you tethered to the bed. You only have enough room to take a few steps away from either side of the bed, and could only really stand at the edge.
You slowly brought your hands to your neck, and were uncomfortable when you couldn't find any sort of clasp, other then where the leash was attatched.
The humiliating realization that Franky probably made this while you were sleeping dawns on you, and you have to choke back a sob. You can't even join the rest of the crew for your own emotional support. You just get to sit on the bed, waiting for Luffy to get back.
Which he does. He seems happy when he gets back, like nothing's happened. He smiles at you even.
"Hi (y/n)! I missed you. But everyone else said I should let you sleep a little longer- said it'd make things easier.",
Of course they did. You appreciated the little of the gesture you could, but still couldn't bring yourself to respond. Luffy didn't really seem to mind, he just kept talking.
"Don't really know what happened this morning, you can explain later after you've eaten. Don't worry about it though!" he leaned forward and yanked the leash.
"We've got a bunch of these all over the ship now! so if I don't have you, I'll know for exactly where you are! So if it's not gonna happen again, no reason to still be upset about it, right?"
he's smiling again, like what he's said makes any sense at all.
You should probably nod along. You can force your head up and down once, but all of your energy is gone. You might as well make peace with your new life, you realize. You're never gonna be able to get out of this.

- Well, well my dear anon. I decided to pair you up with Vinsmoke Sanji because I think that you need lots of love and appreciation. And I think that he is someone who can give you all of that and even more.
- You were walking around the deck of the Sunny. Thinking about everything but also nothing at the same time. One minute you were thinking about your friend who send you a letter just yesterday and minutes later you would be walking around with a empty head. For a person that barely talked or spoke up about anything your mind was always somehow occupied with something.
- Two months. Since two months you were sailing with the strawhats who recruited you to join the crew of the future pirate king.
- You liked all of the crew members. But out of all of them you liked Robin and Zoro the most since they were pretty chill and calm people. They were quite and didn´t talk much. You could be sitting next to them without having to hold conversations. You could be sitting next to each other without a glimpse of awkwardness.
- Every member of the strawhat crew knew that you weren´t the most talkative person and accepted you the way you were. But still they somehow always tried to get you to talk. And one of them tried that the most. That person was none other than the ships cook, Sanji.
- You were aimlessly walking around the ship with eyes fixed on the ground when you felt your legs getting tired. You were close to the tree with the swing so you took the opportunity to take a seat on the swing and slowly sway yourself back and forth. You were once again lost in your thoughts when you felt a blanket being placed over your shoulder. The sudden contact made you flinch slightly and look up only to find the first mate standing in front of you. “Oi are you okay? I went to train in the crow’s nest around 6 pm when I saw you walk around on your own.”, with a visibly confused and a tilted head you were looking the green haired man in the eyes. “And?”, you wondered. Zoro raised a brow. “Y/N. It´s half past nine now. Didn´t you realize how dark it got? You´re pretty weird but that’s fine since none of us are normal. Not even Nami who´s not a devil fruit user.”, the words of the swordsman made you laugh. “Thank you for the blanket but I am not weird. I am just not really talkative like some of ya´ll. ”, you said while cuddling into the blanket. “I am fine with that. In fact that makes me like you the most since you´re pretty chill. Anyways I gotta go and shower. It´s your turn with the night watch I suppose. Good luck with that stupid cook. Night.”, without waiting for a reply he left you alone.
- When you thought you were alone footsteps could be heard behind you. You took a look at your left just to find Sanji walking down the stairs in black pants and a white shirt. Rolled up sleeves showing that he left the kitchen minutes ago and a new cigar between his lips he walked down the stairs with one hand in his pocket. No matter how he put a step he always looked elegant and gracious. “It kinda makes me sad to see that you talk and even laugh with that marimo but not me. Did I do something wrong my dear?”
- Out of all the people on the ship you never thought of hearing such a question come from the gentlest and loving person. You never thought that he would ever ask such a question because you always thought he could and would understand you without having to speak about it. “You seem to not like me much. Are you?”, he said with a beautiful smile upon his lips.
- “It´s not like that. It´s just that he never makes me talk. He listens when I do but other than that he never tries to make me speak because he understands that I don´t like to talk much. And when I do out of nervousness he makes me stop and takes over. He might not look like it but he truly is a understanding man. And so is Robin.”, “And I am not?”, you shook your head and smiled back at the cook. “You´re different. You are my comfort and save place.”
- The words that left your lips made Sanji widen his eyes out of shook. For a second his mind went blank but quickly was able to pull himself back together. He lit up the cigar between his lips and put both of his hands in his pocket.
- Sanji always tried his best to get you to talk and look people in the eyes when you did but he never forced you into anything. He always tried his best to make you speak out your thoughts and opinion on everything as gentle as possible. He was always caring towards you and always kept an eye on you. He understands you better than you do. He can read through your facet that was supposed to show a brave and strong you. A woman that was not shy. A extroverted, active woman. He was able to look into your soul and give you whatever your heart desired. No matter if it was food, clothes, books or simply the comfort of a silent room.
- “I really appreciate your words. In fact I am honored to have you see me worthy enough to be beside and with you. Although I wish for it to be more than that.”, out of habit you tiled your head slightly to the side that showed your confusion. You were about to ask what he meant but got cut off when he pulled you back up on your feet. “Let´s go and have a little snack.”
- With no other words leaving you, you let him lead you to the kitchen not knowing that your little head tilt made his heart melt and his soul to bust the biggest uwu.

Hi 💕 I'm so happy to see another op blog 🌻 can I request Zoro falling in love with an uncultured and oblivious reader? I mean like she didn't understand the world much because she's lived in her little island all her life and joined the strawhats. I thought it'd be curious to see a sweet girl taking our marimo's heart 🥺 Ty Ty Ty 💚
authors note : hello ! im more then happy to participate as a new blog <3 and i’d be thrilled to write such a thing ! the idea of reckless and somewhat ‘ mean ‘ characters x oblivious and kind is always very cute , a ton of fun. i just did headcanons + a small drabble , hope that’s okay.
Zoro x Oblivious/Naive! Reader Headcanons
• It was almost annoying how sweet you were, so harmless... at least to the naked eye. The day Zoro saw you in action for the first time was a sight he’d never forget. It was odd, almost. Even when you were fighting, whacking marines down one by one.. you still had that innocent expression on your face. Why were you so nice? And the way you apologized to the men you were beating down was even weirder. It didn’t match the rapid swing of the weapon that stayed in clutch of your hands. What sort of aspiring pirate has manners like that!? Usopp was kind, yes, same with Chopper but you were on a whole new level. It was cute but it also bothered Zoro, to a degree.
• With your background, you were bound to confuse things and make wrong assumptions. Wether the way you reacted to Franky’s appearance in Water Seven, not seeing anything wrong with his lack of clothing, or the way you would try and drink the cups of sake Zoro would forget about, mistaking it for water. It was cute, a lot of the crew found your mishaps and almost childish esque knowledge to be cute, Sanji and Robin especially. Zoro found it to be the cutest thing, he felt his heart squeeze everytime you giggled in embarrassment or turned red as Nami had to educate you on certain things.
• Yet, Zoro did his best to hide his interest in you. What did the worlds best future swordsman need some country bumpkin for? Plus, it’s not like Zoro was a huge romantic in the first place. Alas, it was impossible to keep under wraps. The way you freely clung to your crew members, or even giving them small kisses on their cheeks, that prevented Zoro from being capable of hiding how flustered he’d get.
• At first, he assumed you were some sort of moron, having no problem with being touchy with people. But no! Apparently, it was a regular thing to do in your village, something strictly platonic. Zoro was both relieved but also disappointed. He was relieved due to how close you were with Sanji but he was a tad grumpy that your small pieces of affection didn’t mean anything.
• Zoro would eventually make an attempt to confess or at least suggest such feelings, mainly at the force of Nami and Usopp. He tried numerous times with the help of the pair, only to have you giggle and reply with a care free smile.
• Now, no way you were this stupid! You were twenty for christ’s sake... how could someone of that age, regardless of surroundings be oblivious to a deceleration of love?
• Even if your oblivious nature annoyed him to the core, he would do his best to keep such a clean mind for you. He’d scold Brook if he asked for your panties, and would certainly beat Sanji if he tried anything weird with you.
• The day you actually confess, Zoro won’t believe you. He’ll assume you just mean your heart yearns for him in a platonic way, in the most harsh jab of platonic kinship.
• When you two actually start going out, Zoro is left in crippling debt to the navigator. Nami definitely had to sit you down and explain in depth about how Zoro viewed you, about what he meant everything he said he ‘liked’ you. Zoro is more then grateful to have you as his s/o now but now his pockets ache with severe emptiness.
Zoro x Oblivious/Naive! Reader Oneshot
Zoro had finally finished working out for the evening, his muscles aching with fatigue. He was heading to the Sunny’s garden to fetch some tangerines out of the garden. Fruit was always refreshing, especially after a hard workout.
As he opened the gyms door, he spotted you. Zoro couldn’t help but feel his cheeks prickle with a pink colour, embracing the sight of you watering the flowers you and Robin had grown together. You looked so cute, so joyous. The way your eyes could light up so much over a mere flower bed made no sense to Zoro. Yet, he loved it. He loved the faces you made when you were happy, your round eyes curling upward and shut as you laughed.
Sadly, for Zoro, his moment of admiring you would be cut short by the two biggest perverts on the Sunny. Is there even a moment in the day where they take a break off such a repulsive hobby?
“Y/n-san, can i see your underpants?” Brook asked, as casual as ever. Him and Sanji were oogling at the sight of your legs. The question visibly confused you as you raised your brows, mouth dipping into a small o.
“Why, what for?” You asked, looking up at the two men as you let the watering can rest at your feet. You had often seen Nami beat the two up over this question, and even Robin didn’t hesitate to glare at the two, causing a sudden cold chill to fill the area. Were you not supposed to? There wasn’t a huge deal with clothes, right? Nami always walked around in her bikini tops and Franky only ever wore his speedo.. It was okay, wasn’t it? Was it a representation of eternal friendship, you wondered. If so then why would Nami...-
“It represents a never ending love, Y/n-swan!” Sanji followed Brook’s statement with. He felt guilty for lying to you but was it truly a lie? You were only supposed to show your under clothing to the people you love!
An excited smile replaced your puzzled expression. “Really?” You stood up, “Is that why Franky shows his? Because he loves us?”
Brook and Sanji just nodded with overjoyed looks on their faces. Finally! They had a crew member who would do such a thing for them...
The soft expressions were immediately wiped away at the hands of Zoro. Zoro had kicked Brook’s head square off his shoulders, delivering his elbow to Sanji’s side in one swift move.
“Oi! Leave Y/n outta your perverted crap!” Zoro barked, crossing his arms as he snarled at the blonde and the skeleton. “Ya best leave them alone, unless you want Nami to find out.”
You couldn’t help but feel confused from the complicated scenario that unraveled before your eyes. Why was Zoro so furious? Why would Nami be upset over that, too?
“Thanks, Zoro! I think...” You murmured, unsure what to say. Were you supposed to be angry that he hurt your other friends? Or did he do the right thing...? You had no clue!
Zoro blushed at the sight of you, the way you gave him the most genuine smile a person could muster made his heart jack hammer into his ribs. You really had no clue how you made him feel, did you?
It’s fine.. it’s what you’re supposed to do for the people you....love, anyway.” Zoro muttered, earning loud gasps from the men that remained on the ground. Yet, all your reaction carried was a bright smile.
“Really? I’m going to go hit Usopp, then! Nami always does!” You beamed proudly, as if picking up on some ‘wonderful’ advice from Zoro.
All Zoro did was sigh. How long would it take until you noticed him, until you noticed what he meant?
What a moron.
