Reincarnation is a tricky process. Sometimes it's focused and a Soul can go from Body A to Body A2 easily, but other times its completely random/wild like a dice roll. Theoretically there is no "wrong soul/body" since nobody's in charge of where a soul decides to inhabit.

I think a bunch of works deal with people being the reincarnations of their anecestors, so Pigsy having Zhu Bajie's soul could be considered totally normal.

To Wukong's gold vision; MK's soul looks vaguely masculine, but he's born afab. Mei is the same in reverse (feminine, but born amab). Meanwhile Red's soul would appear as both feminine and masculine. Accidental gender radar.

It was probably a little confusing for Shadowpeach for MK to come out afab, but they wouldn't force any gender roles onto their kids.

I headcanon both Wukong and Macaque as trans, so it really isn't a problem for them. Odds are Monkey yao raise their kids gender neutral since their level of sexual dimorphism is so low.

The second MK and/or Mei come out as trans, Wukong and Mac already got the "It's a Boy/Girl!" balloons ready.

So this is Zǐhán, he was found by the circus and brought up there until he was around 9 years old, becoming a child contortionist but the bandits ambushed them and murdered everyone, scarring the right side of his face. He was the only one to survive and, later on, was picked up by a martial arts master who raised him along his two children (a son and a daughter) and other apprentices. They became his protégé, their contortionist abilities aided them in fighting greatly, and they also learned how to give as well as take Chí. He was supposed to become the next master of the monastery, but his master was poisoned, and he was mistakenly charged with the murder of his master and became a wanted criminal :)

So now he's on the run hehe :D

Lmk ss edits + headcanons, Part 6 (Azure Lion, Peng, Yellowtusk)

(I originally made my own design of Azure and Yellowtusk but wasn't quite happy with how they turned out so I scrapped them, the designs for those two I used in these edits were made by @/erraday_ on twt, with a few minor changes, but Peng's design is my own :) )

I feel like I’m missing something bc I’m sick, but in stone egg theory if a male sex stone monkey can get pregnant wouldn’t it be an other detail in which species’ sex binary/bimodality is different from humans’ one?

Well I hc that Stone Monkeys are pretty much intersex compared to other primates. I hc Wukong as being very trans-masc coded, so he just assumed he was born completely female due to his visable configuration.

Demons in general likely don't stick to the two options available to most humans/celestials.

My basic idea is that among demon and other supernatural species, its more accepted to be a *Trigram* of biological sex.

In traditional daoism, the straight line represents "Yang" and the segmented line "Yin". My idea is that Demons, Dragons, Spirits, and some Celestials have their biological sex/bimodality manifest based on a trigram.

It's not always that simple though; Think of the "Body Shape" slider in Saints Row 2 coming with preset sexes + a "no thanks" middle ground. Biological sex do be like a biased Quadrant spectrum of traits.

Wukong, being a physical manifestation of Earth/Kun aka Most Yin = his body presents as biologically female but ids as male/masc. Macaque in contrast, being a figure of Wind/Xun aka 1/3 Yin + 2/3 Yang = appears to be male-leaning intersex and ids as male-leaning nonbinary. And despite them originally believing that they were "weird" for their bodies/genders due to social influence from Heaven, its actually completely normal for their species.

Pretty much any Stone Monkey can produce a Stone Egg with enough determination and dirt - but it works "best" on an Earth/Kun-trigram Monkey. Those with sex trigrams in the opposing half like Heaven/Qian, Dui/Lake, and Xun/Wood-Wind would be more likely not to survive the process or carry an egg to term.

In short; humans are considered the weird ones for only recognising two whole sexes. Even the most hardass Celestials with heavy patriarchial and heteronormative leanings typical of the Chinese imperial age, atleast aknowledge that the rest of the six trigrams exist.

Could I request macaque, Mk, and wukong( separate) x chubby nonbinary reader. Like the reader has issues with eating infront of people. They just feel like they need to eat less than everyone else and should hold back on the food. And it progresses where they don't eat out with anyone and isolate themselves to avoid what they deem as judgement.

MK- concerned lad :( I hc that his favorite thing to do when hanging out with people he cares about is having some good food for good company. So when you turn the noodles down, when you don’t even partake in your favorite snacks that he bought for you–he feels bad and worries a lot. However he hates the idea of pushing your boundaries so it probably takes him a while to even ask about it. He tells you that while he can’t force you to eat anything he is worried about your health. He loves you the way you are, he would hate to see you destroy yourself by not eating. In an effort to help he offers to maybe hang out just in his apartment more often so you don’t feel so watched and he will definitely turn around if it makes you feel better. He also amps up his complimenting game and focuses on you as a person rather than just your physical qualities. 

Macaque - he’s upset, not at you, but at the reality that he can’t do more to help you. He loves you and how sweet you are to him, how could you treat yourself badly? He shows you some professional resources like therapy, since he knows that he himself isn’t exactly cut out to solve this problem. He also makes an effort to indulge you in the foods you really like to hopefully encourage you to partake, even if it means he has to face away from you or that you two end up eating in his dojo rather than a restaurant. He always reassures you that he thinks you’re perfect and that he would never judge you for something like this. Macaque will also become more physically clingy so be prepared for that. He may also write some poetry for you ;)

Wukong - feels terrible!! That’s his s/o!!! And he has to help!! Obviously, he gives you some time to see if you’ll come to him about the issue on your own. However if you don’t he’s inclined as your boyfriend to express his concerns for you and ask what steps you’d like to take and which steps you want him there for. He’ll do his best to make you feel comfortable with food and eating, especially around other people. May start off small like eating in his hut and gradually expand to a place like Pigsy’s–either way he will not throw you into the deep end. He gives you a lot of encouragement, even for “small” steps. To him, seeing you make any progress at all is a victory and he makes sure you know that regardless of how you look, he’s proud of you and he loves you unconditionally.

Things I've noticed and loved in lmk (and in the fandom)

I just remembered that I have an old Google Doc dedicated to lmk facts/thoughts, so I wanted to share this! Some of these are really well known, but I still find it neat.

Wukong is actually an artist just like MK.

Mayor is the only character with a known kill count (what the actual hell dude)

They had a Lego Monkie Kid hotel partnership only in china. They are meant to market a new season that is meant to come out. Some goodies in said hotel include Lego sets, lmk activity books, stickers, a bag, and more! (I'm still sad that they have it in China only)

PIF used to be a goddess as shown in the season 4 flashback.

Peng is actually canonically nonbinary (very rad)

Macaque basically has the dumbed down version of Wukong's powers

Red son also listens to soft jazz (which is funny). This fact is shown in the key episode!

and thats literally JUST talking about mei and it doesnt even begin to cover the other female characters. chang'e constantly gets reduced to being red sons aunt/mom/big sister despite them like. not having any actual interactions in the show. lady bone demon constantly gets overshadowed by her minion who has like 2 seconds of screen time, or she gets made into a cartoonishly abusive madwoman who people call lady bitch demon. just in general people act like shes a horrible person for like. being a villain. liks yeah the trying to destroy everything was bad but also she was an antagonist and thats what antagonists do LOL. spider queen gets completely ignored. princess iron fan gets made into a cartoonishly abusive mother so that way red son can have a poor angsty backstory and some male character (usually nezha, macaque, swk) can take care of him.

(also theres just a great deal of ethnocentrism in the lmk fanbase? like im white so take what İ say here with a grain of salt but so many people will misconstrue aspects of chinese culture for their own personal hcs. people will say male characters are transfem or nonbinary while completely ignoring the time period/culture their from where thats the norm. like yippee youve implied that an east asian man is feminine/emasculine because he has long hair. how do you not see the negative connotations with this. people also turn pif (& lbd to an extent) into a dragon lady which obviously has negative racial connotations lol.)

AUTHOR NOTES (Relevant to this comic in particular): - This comic takes place in-between the LBD battle and the discovery of the Scroll of Memories - Macaque is nonbinary & will be referred to with they/it/he pronouns (I will probably use just one set per chapter when I start writing the fanfics) - Tang & Pigsy are married!
