A/N: Can't believe I posted the last update to this more than two years ago. Has it really been that long???? The incomplete series has been bothering me for two years now lmao. Didn't think I'd ever find a fitting scenario for Ushiwaka but thanks to @dira333 helping me sound off some ideas, I was able to get that perfect "snap!" you get when you fit a puzzle piece in perfectly. Gave me enough brain juice to write this out before going back into hibernation.

Serving you some fresh, hot angst and then some lol. Enjoy the burn and then the healing. For someone who was as far removed from Ushiwaka (emotionally) as one can, writing this actually made me see him in a new light. Loved writing him. Hopefully, it stays as true to his canon nature as it can. Hopefully I don't trash this before it's out💀 but if you're reading this, it's good lol.

It feels like the entire Shiratorizawa is at the gates of the school.

"I can't believe she's coming to our school!"

"AAA I can't stop imagining how she'll look in our school uniform."

"Do you think she already has a boyfriend? Maybe I have a chance?"

"I don't know about a boyfriend but you certainly don't have a chance with her."

"Must you always be so cruel?!"

"If you think a star child actor who has made it so big in the industry is going to date a simpleton like you, you're delusional."

You sigh, annoyed, as you try to make your way through the babbling crowd. You're already late for your morning classes and you couldn't care any less about Hoshiko Nakamura. Or any celebrity for that matter.

"In fact, I don't think any boy in this school has a chance with her. Hmm... except maybe Ushiwaka? Not that he'd be interested in dating her anyway. Sometimes I feel like that guy doesn't have any emotions at all."

Your ears perk up at the Ace's name.

Wakatoshi Ushijima has become somewhat of a celebrity at school ever since he was selected for the under 19 representative for Japan in the Youth World Championship.

He was already well known as the formidable volleyball player who crushes any team that he takes on. However, his serious and stoic nature has kept most people from approaching him. Till now, at least.

The girl was right. Wakatoshi wouldn't even think about dating anyone. You seem fairly sure of that. However, the suggestion still leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

You're wrong about him not having any emotions you think as you finally break free from the crowd and sprint towards your classroom.

You've known Wakatoshi for as long as you can remember. You remember when his family moved into the house next to yours when you were just little kids. You remember watching the reserved, determined figure of the boy practicing volleyball all by himself in the nearby park. You remember going up to him and offering to play with him. Out of all these memories, the most vivid of them all was the way his eyes subtly lit up when you said you wanted to play with him.

Time has blurred into a haze since then. Even though you both went to different schools all through junior and middle school years, you both kept alive the tradition of playing volleyball together in park.

"You should come to Shiratorizawa," he had said that fateful day. You both were in the last year of middle school. It was a beautiful evening as you both walked back home from the park, the setting sun throwing hues of red and gold across the partially cloudy sky.

"That's not in my hands. I tried in middle school, remember? I want Shiratorizawa but Shiratorizawa doesn't seem to want me," you said, kicking a pebble on the road. Funny how I could say the same about you.

"That was three years ago. You have grown," he said without pause.

"We'll see. I don't want to get my hopes too high. You know just as well as I do that they give preference to athletes over normal students like me. Casual volleyball games with you are just about as sporty as I get," you said as you reached out to open the gate to your home.

You turned to say goodbye to him and found him looking at you, his expression more serious than usual.

"It's not about athleticism."

"Shiratorizawa only accepts the best. Be it volleyball or anything else. I believe you fit into that category. You should come," he says, looking straight into your eyes.

Your stomach flutters. How could he have so much faith in you? There is no doubt that he believes in you because Wakatoshi Ushijima always means what he says. Almost 5 years of knowing him had taught you that. You still found it hard to digest, though.

"I'll try my best, I promise."

"I know you will."

"Class, please give a warm welcome your new classmate, Hoshiko Nakamura!"

You can't help but gawk at her. Saying she is pretty would be a severe understatement. If she looks pretty on screen, it is nothing compared to what she looks like off screen. You look at your desk partner to see if he is thinking the same. Wakatoshi, however, seems to simply be listening to the teacher.

"Miss Nakamura, I'm sure you will have no problem settling in here. To kind of help you settle in this new environment, I was thinking of seating you next to Ushijima as I believe you two have met before at some of the national events."

The teacher might as well have thrown a bus at you and it would have felt just about the same as you do now.

Hoshiko's face lights up. "That would be great. Wakatoshi-kun has always been a delight to be with. Thank you for having me," she says and bows.

Did she just call him by his first name?

"Ah, Y/N, sorry for springing this on you so suddenly. I wanted to get a hold of you before morning class but couldn't. I hope it's not a problem," the teacher says.

You force a polite smile. "It's not a problem at all," you say and start packing your bag.

Hoshiko walks up to the desk and waits patiently for you to gather your stuff, thanking you again.

Your legs feel heavy as you take the empty seat diagonal to them in the adjacent row.

I'm panicking for no reason. They just know each other from an event. It makes sense to make her sit with a familiar and safe person, given her popularity. Yes, Wakatoshi is definitely the ideal choice in this scenario. He is not someone who would be creepy in any sense. He's also strong and intimidating so it would keep the creeps away. It's fine. It'll be fine. Nothing is going to happen between them... right?

"Wakatoshi-kun, I'm so glad I got to sit next to you," she says, smiling at him, speaking loud enough for people sitting nearby to hear.

"Actually, if I'm being honest, when I decided to come back to my hometown to complete my studies, I knew I wanted to go to Shiratorizawa immediately," she continues.

"Of course. Shiratorizawa is the best school in the prefecture. It's only natural to want to study here," Ushijima says, completely seriously.

Hoshiko blushes. "Ah... that is not what I meant... nevermind," she says, causing the guy behind them to burst into laughter.

It seems like the hollow sensation growing in your stomach is here to stay.

It has been two months since the day Hoshiko joined your school. With Ushijima going to school earlier than usual and practicing late into the night for the Inter High preliminaries, he hasn't been able to spend much time with you lately. Normally, this wouldn't have bothered you because you could see him in class everyday but with Hoshiko now taking your place, you barely get to say more than hi to him.

However, with the prelims now over and the upcoming week-long break ahead, you're hoping to get some one-on-one time with him once again. All these years with him have made him such an intrinsic part of your daily life that it feels like something big is missing when he's not around. To the world, Wakatoshi Ushijima might be a lot of things. But to you, Wakatoshi Ushijima is home. He is comfort. He is strength. He is someone that you know like the back of your own hand. He is someone that your heart always keeps coming back to. He is the only love you have ever known.

You know that he doesn't share the same feelings for you. But that doesn't stop your heart from longing for him.

The lessons for the day are over and you walk back to your class, eager to pack your bag and go home with Ushijima. You wonder if he'll want to go to the park in the evening.

"She's asking him out! She's asking him out!"

"No WAY! I am SO jealous."

A small crowd has gathered around the window and they're whispering amongst themselves as they look outside.

"Man, that Ushiwaka is so lucky! He gets to date the most beautiful girl in the entire country."

"I mean… he is in the nation's top 3 aces and an under 19 representative of Japan. Not to mention he's tall and strong and good looking. They're actually perfect for each other."

Your heart drops down to your feet.

You look out the window and find yourself looking at Hoshiko and Ushijima standing a ways away from the school building. They're in a quiet, secluded spot and Hoshiko seems to be blushing as she says something to him. You see him nod and say something in return. Hoshiko's face lights up in pure delight and even though they are at a distance, you can hear the joy in her voice.

"No way!!!! He said yes?? I thought he wasn't interested in girls!"

"Goddamn it! There goes my chance!"

You feel dizzy as you watch the two of them walk back to school together.

No. This can't be. You have always known that he doesn't like you that way. But you thought he wasn't interested in dating at all.

No. You shouldn't make any assumptions just yet. These gossip mongers are messing with your head. For all you know, he could have said yes to being in a show or something. You shouldn't despair before you hear the truth from him.

You blink back your tears and run to your class. Thankfully, it's empty. You take a few deep breaths to calm yourself and wait. Both of them soon appear in the hallway. The crowd surrounds them instantly, wanting to drown them in questions but Ushijima breaks away from them easily and walks towards the class. He comes up to you.

"Y/N. I'm sorry I won't be able to come to the park today."

It's true.

"Hoshiko and I are going to watch this new movie playing at the theatre-"

He's going on a date with her.

"Apparently it has a lot of volleyball in it-"

He's going on a date with h-

"You should join us."

Huh?

"What?"

"I figured you might like it since you play volleyball with me even though you don't play it otherwise."

What? What? What?? What is happening right now??

Ushijima patiently waits for your answer.

"Uh... Whose idea was it to go to the movie?"

"Nakamura's. Why?"

"And how did she bring up the idea?"

"Well, I was returning from the club and she asked to speak to me in private. And then she told me about the movie and if I wanted to watch it with her."

He didn't get it.

"Ah... Toshi... I'm pretty sure she was asking you out on a date."

His eyes widen with surprise.

"A... date? But she never said she had romantic feelings for me."

Could this mean...? Can I hope...?

"Well, her asking you out on the date was her way of saying it."

"I see. I didn't realise. Thank you for telling me. In that case, I should tell her my feelings for her as well."

He has feelings for her.

Your heart shatters.

You're glad that he walks out right away because you couldn't have stopped your tears from coming out even if you wanted to. You run out of the back door, desperate to get far away.

I guess I was the problem all this time. I just wasn't someone you could look at that way.

You had always known that. You had always known that he didn't feel for you the way you did. But that hadn't stopped you from falling for him. Hard. How could you have not? Eight years of knowing him... You didn't even realise when you fell for him. Loving him just came so naturally to you.

Logically, it makes sense. They make sense. She is beautiful and tall and smart. And so is he. They are the type of couple who would be featured on the cover of a magazine. Which, given their career trajectories, is bound to happen sooner or later.

But the heart doesn't care for logic and at this moment you feel like it will actually burst from the amount of pain you're feeling.

You spend the rest of the evening and the entire night crying in your room.

Morning comes and you feel worse than ever. Your head is throbbing, your nose is stuffy and your eyes are swollen. You decide to skip school. It's the last day before break anyway. Maybe this break will be good for you. It will give you some time to adjust to everything and compose yourself.

You go back to bed and sleep through the entire day.

You thought you'd feel better after getting some rest but you still feel like shit.

You drag yourself out of bed. Your entire body feels like it weighs ten times more.

Maybe a shower and some fresh air will do you good.

You head out.

No matter how much you try to think of something else, your mind keeps coming back to him. Your eyes keep searching for him. You look in the direction of his room. The curtains are open and you can see it is empty.

Of course he's not home yet. He's probably out with her again.

Even though it's barely a minute away, you feel exhausted by the time you reach the park. Thankfully, it is empty.

You sit on one of the swings and look around. Most of your memories with Ushijima are tied to this park. This is where you both have spent the majority of your last eight years together.

All the sweet memories make you tear up again.

"You didn't come to school today."

You were so lost in your head that you didn't realise when he walked up to you. You blink back your tears.

"Oh... hi. Yeah, I - I wasn't feeling very well today," you say, not meeting his eye.

"You seem upset."

He noticed.

"Oh... I'm fine. Really. It's just been a rough day. It's nothing to worry about," you say, still evading his gaze.

He sits on the swing next to you. You look to the side and see he has a volleyball in his lap.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

You quickly avert your gaze again.

"No."

"I see. Well, would you like me to distract you? Talk about something else?"

It is getting harder to keep your tears in check. You're sure your voice will crack if you speak. You just nod.

"You would've liked the movie. It wasn't as focused on volleyball as Nakamura said it would-"

Great. He's chosen the worst topic he could have talked about. You don't want to hear about his date. You need to change the topic. Quickly.

"What are you doing here?" you blurt out the one question that has been weighing on your mind ever since he came here.

"What do you mean? I came here to play volleyball with you."

"I- I mean... I thought you would spend your free time with Ho-Hoshiko from now."

"Why would I do that?"

"B- because you're d-dating her?" Your voice cracks.

"I am not dating Nakamura."

What?

"What do you mean you're not dating her? I thought you liked her. Didn't you go on a date with her yesterday?"

"I do like her. Just not romantically. And no, I went to watch the movie with Tendou. She had already bought the tickets so I bought them from her. I wanted to watch it with you but you went home. "

"But... you left to tell her your feelings for her..."

"I did. I wanted to clarify that I only feel for her as a friend. It was only thanks to you that I was able to tell her in time before I ended up hurting her unintentionally."

"I...see..."

Relief floods your heart. You suddenly feel a hundred pounds lighter. You finally gather the courage to look at him. He is looking right back at you.

"Can I ask you something?" you say, your lower lip trembling.

"Of course."

"Do you have romantic feelings for anyone?"

You instantly regret speaking up as soon as the question leaves your mouth. You know he never lies. And if he doesn't feel the same w-

"Yes. You."

You stare at him blankly.

It's subtle but his expression has changed from completely serious to something a little softer. You can't quite place what it is. Is it concern? nervousness? Adoration?

"R-really? You like me? Romantically?"

"Yes."

"Since when?"

"Ah," he rubs his chin, "I'm not sure..."

You're still having difficulty believing that any of this is real.

"You know," he continues, "After my father, you were the first person who ever wanted to play with me."

He points towards the corner of the park. "I was practicing against that wall that day when you came up to me. Do you remember?"

"Of course I remember. I can never forget that day."

"So many people have come and gone from my life but you have been with me for so long that, I guess somewhere along the way I just assumed you would stay forever. Which, I now realise, I shouldn't have."

He feels the same. He has always felt the same.

"Toshi?"

He turns to you again.

"I love you."

He breaks into a soft smile.

"I love you too."

What they call you: Given that Vaggie canonically calls Charlie "Babe", I don't think it would be too far of a stretch to assume that she would call you the same as a general pet name! Also tends to call you by your nam

What they like to be called: She likes being called by her name, but if you say it when shes in the right mood shes fine with a lot of things!

What they call you: If I said any examples I wouldn't be able to say this blog isn't NSFW/lh but also... It wouldn't be a surprise that he calls you some more vulgar names.. but in a non sexual setting? Babe is his go to for you!

What they like to be called: To the shock of absolutely no one... Love bug is a pretty basic one that hes pretty receptive too, but if you somehow find one in the same vein thats more unique hes going to be all over it

What they call you: Sugar, Hon, Babe are his main three asides from simply saying your name. I mentioned before that affection isnt really his thing, at least not being open or overly so... I can see this spreading to verbal stuff too.. he does love you, of course

What they like to be called: Stud, though he seems to try to fight himself to not roll his eyes... Handsome, Lover, just to name a few

What they call you: Darling, Dear, Dearest, Love, things like that that kind of give an "older" feel since hes from the victorian era... actually I can see him dropping a few that were popular when he was alive! Also calls you by your name... simply saying someones name is nice, it feels personal and intimate you know, in the right setting

What they like to be called: Happy with whatever you call him, you can call him Handsome or Sweetheart or even a Cutie Patootie... it doesn't matter, hes going to wear it like a badge of honor!

What they call you: He already calls people things like Dear/Darling, so this ones a given! Can see him calling you Lovely as well

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

A headcanon I am very fond of is that in addition to being a terrible gift-giver (canon) and a bad cook (also canon), Iris cannot sing at ALL. I just think it's so funny that like, Joe can sing. Barry can sing. Iris cannot carry a tune to save her life. She has none of Joe's musical talent.I have defo posted about this before but I love to imagine Barry walking in and hearing Iris singing in the kitchen or something, and it's the most awful, tuneless singing you have ever heard, so bad it could burst eardrums, and it's his favourite sound in the world. He loves it. Meanwhile, everyone else's ears are bleeding.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

So I know allegedly Barry is Iris's best friend BUT to me her best friend will always be Cisco. I absolutely adore their dynamic. I especially love the closeness they develop between s3 and s4 when Barry is missing and they are both relying on each other and joining forces to find a way to bring him back. Also one of my fave moments, I can never remember what ep or season it's on, I wanna say s2? But iirc, Tony Woodward comes back as like a zombie or something and he's after them, and Cisco leaps in front of her all dramatic like "Get behind me!!" and Iris gets so cross and shoves him behind her and goes "YOU get behind ME!" and it cracks me up every time. It just fills me with joy seeing them share a screen in general. I think it's a very layered and supportive relationship between two very kind and loving characters who also aren't afraid to give each other a good telling off when the situation calls for it. I love them, your honour

I also kinda like the idea of Iris being friends with Shawna Baez. I don't know what it is, I'm pretty sure they never interacted, but I think Iris would give her good advice and they'd have a good time hanging out

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

You know, I honestly don't have clear memories of my first impression of most of the characters! My memories of watching the first season for the first time in general are very vague. I do specifically remember not liking Len at ALL which is so funny to me now skshsggss. But I don't remember much about my first impression of Iris. I do remember that I didn't care for Westallen when I first started the show, but I'm not sure if that was anything to do with disliking Iris, or if it was just the ship as a whole (and there are still aspects of their s1 dynamic that are not my favourite, much as I adore that season).That being said by s2 I remember being so on board with her and loving her! I do think she took a little while to grow into herself as a character, whenever I do a rewatch I find it a bit jarring revisiting her, she seems so different to me, especially in the first handful of eps! But yeah on the whole I barely remember my first time watching the early seasons which is so funny to me. My ex actually made me watch it. He was like "oh you'll love it". Anyways we broke up like 8 years ago and it's still my favourite show, so he clearly wasn't wrong lmao

There are so many series airing now that even though I feel like I can keep up, EVERY DAY I come across a set of gifs on tumblr that remind me of another series I've missed. The sad truth is that none of them impress me enough to keep an eye on the release date of the new episode 😟 (although now I will be looking out for the Sign, hehe)

Bake Me Please is fine. I will definitely watch for Guide, Ohm plays similarly to UWMA, but he is better at interacting with someone who openly tells him 'fuck you' than P'Deeaaan. Their pool scene was really nice 🥰 Is The Mother related to the mother of the twins from Twins? 🤔

My Dear Gangster Oppa is fine. I watch it for Meen ngl. I still think their relationship is rushed and groundless, and Guy is just too childish, idk ,the series just... misses something..

Playboyy I like the new pair the most, I also think they are the sexiest and most believable couple. The second ep is even more chaotic than the previous one, there is still a lot of laughter and surprising/shocking moments, which makes me approach the next episodes wondering what they will come up with next instead of engaging with the characters and the plot, which is.. not good. Imo, the series is terribly edited, it seems like I'm constantly missing something, rewinding the player and it turns out that no, I haven't missed anything, it's just like that. I just have the impression that a lot of scenes have been cut out, which is why there is often a lack of continuity in the story. After two episodes, I say that Playboyy is a series that makes little sense, and despite the large amount of sex, it's not really sexy, but it is a pure stream of fun and wild ideas 🥳 The only question is - how long will the fun and new ideas last to keep the viewers interested? 🤔 No matter what the theme of the show is, mystery, possible murder, sex, kink etc, this series presents these dark topics in a way that is way too funny to be treated seriously (and their fashion choices certainly don't help).

Last Twilight is fine. I watch for Mhok, he's such a golden boy. This series is a bit too "feel good" for me. It's absolutely not a flaw or anything wrong, it's just not really my style. Besides, I find myself constantly having a feeling of deja vu, as if I've seen this story before, even the scenes… like recently... hmmm... Moonlight Chicken?

Pit Babe this is one of those BL romance that has everything interesting… except the actual romance 😆 Ok, first of all, Pavel carries ALL the weight of this couple, he is interesting and hot for two lmao. Basically everything that doesn't involve MLs is interesting, especially the supporting characters (and even new ones appear and they're fun too!). The non-romantic scenes, Babe's relationships with the other characters, the relationships between the other characters are much more interesting than what happens between Babe and Charlie. Oh, and I totally ship… Babe and Way 😋 Maybe it's the actors, I don't know. I just like watching Pavel and Nut on screen. And I feel and see Way's love 🥺 It just seems to me that an actor with such magnetism as Pavel MUST be paired with an actor with equal or just slightly inferior charisma. He can't just be pretty and sweet. Nut isn't as pretty as the actor playing Charlie, but he's the only one who can manage to take my eyes off Pavel lol

Twins I liked this episode much more than the previous one, even though there was almost no romance (except for the kiss, there were some nice accidental kisses this week and it's a trope I don't even like that much 😃). I admire Sprite for his dedication and sacrifice, I feel sorry for him having this kind of family, especially his toxic mother. I'm officially back to being invested in this series 😉

Realized I haven’t posted anything in like a while so might as well share some headcanons of my Donkey Kong AU:

Donkey Kong and Funky Kong’s Parents:

The mother of Donkey Kong and Funky Kong’s name is Fay Kong. Fay Kong is known as the hyper active party girl with her sisters, she is a triplet. She owns the bar that Funky now owns and sometimes perform with her sisters like singing. She also likes to take risk and won’t back down a dare, even if it’s dangerous.

How Donkey Kong Junior met Fay is pretty silly; Donkey Kong Junior was in the middle of racing a kong until he spotted Fay Kong just chilling on the beach, sunbathing away. He fell in love at that very moment and couldn’t keep his eyes off of her until he tripped and rolled to her. Fay was startled when DK Jr landed in front of her, but she finds it funny and started laughing. Even though DK Jr was embarrassed, he laughed with her then started talking with her, which she happily accepts his company.

Donkey Kong Jr actually knows how to surf and uses that hobby to escape the responsibilities of being the king of the Kong Island. He sometimes teaches Fay so that he can have a surfing buddy, but Fay isn’t really good at it.

Gotta add the proposal headcanon for them; DK Jr asked his buddies to help him propose to Fay exactly on the day of their 3rd year anniversary. The scenery was perfect, flower pedals scattered around with candles leading her to where DK Jr is waiting, heart shaped fair lights blink her colors (blue, red, and white), and soon two pinetrees are shaped as a heart with vines wrapped around it with flowers glowing on it. It was a magical sight for Fay and she happily accepted his proposal once DK Jr popped the question. After the proposal, DK Jr and Fay carves a heart on one of the pine trees with their initials on it to keep the memory alive forever.

Ya know the wedding was popping after months of planning and a lot of Cranky and Wrinkly’s money spent. The theme of their wedding is a tropical island (since they live in one), so Fay needed a perfect wedding dress to not only walk properly, but to dance in it. Lucky for her, Wrinkly Kong had the perfect dress for her and Fay fell in love with it the moment she lay eyes on it. The dress had a short skirt then goes down to a longer version like a cape. Tropical Flowers wraps around the dress, resting on one side of the dress then swirls around to the bottom of the skirt (might draw it out soon). When I tell you DK Jr cried seeing Fay in that dress, he fucking cried. He kept on calling her beautiful the moment she stands next to him and she had to calm him down so that they can get on with the wedding lmao.

Fay’s dream is to become a mom one day with the right guy and she accomplished that dream when she found out she was pregnant with Funky. DK Jr and Fay were over the moon with excitement when they find out they are gonna have a baby together, so they prepared a room just for little Funky. Throughout the months Fay was pregnant, DK Jr did nothing but protect and love her no matter what, even if it’s something little he is still there for her no matter what. Fay was the one who came up with the name Funky and DK Jr agreed to it either way since this is their first baby. Once Funky arrived, the two have been spoiling him none stop with affection and parental love. One of the moments I like to think is that Fay sings a lullaby to baby Funky when he has trouble sleeping. After three years, they decided to give Funky a baby brother and named him Donkey Kong the Third (the reasoning behind it is that Cranky won’t stop nagging Fay and DK Jr to name their second kid after him and DK Jr).

However, after DK the Third was born, Fay became extremely ill and the doctor recommended her to rest and take medicine. Fay, being the stubborn women she is, fight against the illness and does her best to take care of not only Funky, but DK the Third as well. As the years go on, Fay became more and more weaker to the point she had to rest on a hammock. During this time, the Kremlin and Kong war erupted and DK Jr had to leave Fay and his boys behind to fight in the war. As days goes by, Cranky and Wrinkly makes sure they take care of Funky and DK the Third while Fay is resting until a kremling invaded the house they are living in. This kremling was not alone, a tall female Kremling comes through the door and revealed herself as Kalypso. Kalypso wanted to take Funky and DK the Third to the kremling base to threaten DK Jr to surrender, but Fay didn’t let that happen.

Although Fay is weak and ill, she uses all of her strength to fight against Kalypso to the point she had to retreat out of the house. Now that she is injured, time started to slow down around her. She knew her time is almost done, so she makes her way to where Wrinkly and Cranky is with her boys are hiding and shared her last moments with them. She holds her boys tight as tears streamed down her face, telling them that everything is gonna be okay and to never give up hope even if time can be rough to handle. With small kisses on Funkky and DK the Third’s head, she eventually passed away that night with a smile on her face. Her final words were “Don’t forget that mama will always love you.. even if I’m not here to show it anymore I’ll still be here.. but in your hearts.. I know you two will be great when y’all grow up.. I love you two dearly.. And I mean it from the bottom of my heart.. I love you two ever so much”.

Y’all already know what happened to DK Jr so Ima just end it here lmao.

I think if I wrote this, I would probably use a Price from before Roach, Ghost, and Soap died, however, if we assume it was the one from the very end of mw3? Ooooo boy the angst.

First of all, Gaz? He's sobbing already. Literally crying.

Gaz was essentially the first one that he "adopted." They had a super close relationship in the first life and this Gaz was almost like Soap's playful older brother. I think when Gaz died, a piece of Price genuinely died with him. I also think he never allowed himself to properly mourn and instead threw himself back into work.

Any part of him that was ever going to show mercy to terrorists/those that he went after was gone with Gaz. So I think seeing that this Price, this other version of himself still has his Gaz. That this Gaz is still alive? I think it drags up old memories, old feelings. Things that he never let himself fully process.

The more time he spends with Present! Gaz, the more he realizes how similar he is to his Gaz. He doesn't say anything to Gaz, but he definitely pulls this other version of himself to the side and tells him to keep an eye on Gaz. To make sure that nothing bad happens to him. He warns him that if Gaz dies, a piece of him goes to.

Present! Price already knew that if Gaz died, a piece of him would too, but he see's this broken and empty version of himself and is able to realize for the first time what that would actually look like.

Moving to Ghost and Roach. I think with them is more of a moderate reaction. He didn't really know either of them too well when he died, but he had already started caring for them. I think it makes him feel better to see them both happy in this new life.

However, with Roach specifically, I also think it would make him a bit sad. While he didn't know Roach very well, he knew him long enough to pick out how energetic, excitable, and happy the lad was. He see's this Roach, weighed down by two lives, and without even knowing that he can tell that something is different. He can see that this Roach isn't the same. That he's sadder. None of the Present! 141 are able to pick up on this because they never knew Roach without his memories plaguing him and Roach is very good at hiding those feelings.

Price ends up talking to Roach about the first life after he finds out that he remembers. He tells him about how he and Soap had gone after Shepherd as revenge. About killing Shepherd. About Yuri. About Soap's death. He tells him all of it and, despite how it obviously makes Roach sad, he also see's the relief it brings the younger man when he finally has a concrete idea of what had happened after he died.

I think Soap pulls the biggest reaction from him. I imagine he would literally not even think before pulling him into a hug. I feel like he would probably apologize to him. He knows it isn't his Soap, but it helps him in some odd way to finally get to say those words and apologize to any version of Soap.

He's ecstatic to see how happy Soap is in this new world. Absolutely fully understands why Soap is still only a Sergeant: "have no idea how the one from my life ever became Captain of a team"

Spends so much time around Soap and Gaz it isn't even funny. Just takes the opportunity to be around these people that he lost in whatever form that he can. Even if he knows it won't last. Even if he knows they aren't his Soap and Gaz. It doesn't matter.

As for him and Present! Price? Lowkey just think they'd hit each other with the:

"Nice hat"

"Thanks, you too"

tsurune is one of those shows where s1 left me with the vague sense that i enjoyed it a lot but if pressed i would not be able to recall a single detail about it, except that i was really fond of seiya and kinda eh on minato

main character shinji minato is out here with a whole harem of love-interest-coded men after him while seiya gives off the vibe that he is fully ready to do a murder or two to Win, and literally i cannot overstate how enjoyable it is to see him commit all sorts of microaggressions (and sometimes straight-up aggressions tbh) against masa-san and shuu

like i’m not even strongly rooting for any one member of the harem in particular (genuinely i think it would be hilarious if none of them got minato in the end and he fucked off to date a pigeon or something lol) but seiya being all Yandere Lite about minato is just too funny

as much as i enjoy him i don’t even think i want him to get minato i just want him to get help lmao

anyway although i find seiya incredibly entertaining, masa-san (cv asanuma shintaro) is obviously my actual favorite now (bc asanuma shintaro) and i don’t even think i have anything more to say on the matter except asanuma shintaro

oh and ofc masa-san is just beautiful like damn

overall tsurune remains a visually gorgeous series, i can’t say if it’s a good/faithful adaptation of the source material or not as i’m an anime-only but it’s pretty satisfying for what it is

i probably won’t remember terribly much about this season either, but i will once again go away with the vague sense that i enjoyed it a lot which is a win in my book

very late to the party on this one but i was thinking about the rpg morality stuff from a while back and i realized that despite the high ratio of 'good option' playthroughs i've seen like. a LOT of jokes from rpg players about quicksaving, murdering everyone in town, and then quickloading.

which is to say it makes me think it's less a matter of doing the 'good option' even in an environment without social consequences and moreso about seeing the fictional/diegetic consequences /as/ 'real' consequences and so feel the need to create a smaller, even less consequential environment to be comfortable doing Something Evil.

That does make sense! I feel like that really gets at the root of the divide that was being discussed around the original poll, and this kinda gives me a better way to conceptualize it than I ever came up with at the time.

Like you're saying, it seems like a lot of the "I would never be mean to video game characters" people treat roleplaying games not as a contained zero-consequences environment, but as a vehicle for a direct, personal experience. They would never hurt or kill or be cruel to someone in their day to day, so if the roleplay environment is for them, they're going to continue that standard of behavior. If they do want to do something unethical (or... comically and pointlessly evil lmao) just to see what happens, then first they have to further abstract the setting into something even less "real" than the core playthrough of the game. That "I'm going to come right back to this" quicksave firmly establishes anything you do afterward as Not Real, because you can wipe it all away immediately afterward by loading the save and it's like it never happened.

Basically, that "none of this actually counts" mindset is just how I approach the entire rpg experience 🤷‍♂️ my emotional investment goes as deep as what I believe my character is emotionally invested in, but none of it ever actually means anything to me, none of the Bad Things make me feel bad, because it's not real and it doesn't matter. And now that enough time has passed that I'm not in the clutches of a pointless RSD episode over it, I can say that I still find it really interesting and a little funny that that's apparently the drastically minority mindset at least here on tumblr fgdsgsd

Well losing Unus was one of them, but more than that actually was seeing what Novem was doing, disposing of the rogue reapers. He'll never forgot how much despair it seemed to cause Novem to be killing reapers, so he tried to find some alternative and 'cure' for rogueness so his poor brother would never have to do this again. And of course, to save the reapers from being culled.

It's strained, definitely. He's mad at Mortem for not helping Novem more than he does and he feels estranged from his family in general for being the youngest and the 'weird' one.

he does more damage than you but hell still say that you did all the hard work and hes proud of you <3

ITTO - THE FORTNITE STREAMER

the best part about itto being a fortnite streamer is hes not even good at the game.

he tries his best, really he does. but somehow those cracked 12 year olds have got him beat.

has spent an embarrassing amount of money on the game, but you can tell how much he appreciates every item hes acquired.

plugs his creator code CONSTANTLY. hes gotta make that money hes spent back somehow!

whenever he has a really bad loss he just blames it on stream sniping because he can. yeah i basically turned him into ninja, whoops!

i couldnt see thoma sticking to one main category, i feel like every stream hes doing something new, and hes somehow pretty good at anything he tries out.

his commentary is really what gets people to stick around for his content, he can make anything sound interesting.

think of him as a steamer like rtgame! hes got really fun sims and hitman series, games you dont think could be made funny, but then he does and its overall a really great time.

hes got so many inside jokes from all the games hes played, youve got to be there for every stream otherwise you miss out heavily.

nobody even knew what he looked like for awhile because he didnt have a facecam, but once he started using one his viewers went up by 100k, no joke.

“where is that from? oh, its an inside joke, you probably wouldnt get it.”

thomas viewers are literally so jealous of you. youve pulled the ultimate man right there.

honestly i dont see you appearing on his steams much other than for the occasional mario party game.

i feel like since you never really appear most of his viewers didnt even know you two were dating until those random streams happen. everytime it does twitter goes wild with “THOMA HAS A S/O?” and half the replies are also freaking out while the other half is like “you didnt know?” its a mess every time.

most likely youre in thomas chat instead of in the room, and you tend to instigate chat into spamming emotes a lot and getting it turned to sub only mode. its honestly pretty funny.

one time you walked into his room to ask if he wanted mcdonalds and he was watching paint dry. this had been going on for 4 hours. you didnt ask questions.

SHENHE - THE CALL OF DUTY PLAYER

i think call of duty lobbies are the only place on earth that can handle shenhe if shes genuinely angry.

shes a toxic gamer for sure, dont get on her bad side.

shes gotten pretty good at the game too, shes one of those people who buys the new game everytime one comes out instead of just playing the same version.

chongyun will make appearances at times, they played mario party together once and it was hilarious. (for the viewers at least, maybe not chongyun though LMAO)

chongyun won and she 1v1ed him in nuketown right afterwards. (hes never won against shenhe again)

chat doesnt understand how you can handle shenhe half the times, but truthfully she just has her own way of expressing her emotions.

for example, she broke one of your controllers playing once, and she drove her ass to best buy at almost midnight to go get you a new one, along with a note saying nothing but “sorry :(“ in the prettiest handwriting youve ever seen.

sometimes you even make her angry on purpose just because its funny, and you know no matter how much it may look like it, she could never get mad at you.

On one hand, you could decline, and you wouldn’t have to deal with the aching in your heart any longer, but on the other hand, a part of you longed to be able to talk with your Phoenix again.

“Fine, I’ll do it,” you responded, hoping that you wouldn’t regret your decision.”

Against your better judgement, you decided to follow through with what Brim requested of you. As you unlocked his restraints, you looked up at Phoenix through the corner of your eye. “No funny business,” you said curtly, watching as the cuffs fell to the ground lifelessly. 

“Aren’t you worried I’m gonna run off the first chance I get?” he smirked, rubbing his wrists. “No,” you responded almost immediately, “If you did try to do that you’d be detained before you could do anything.” Phoenix studied your features, almost as if he was looking for something, but shook his head when it seeing as it appeared as though he didn’t find what he was looking for. 

As the two of you exited the holding cell, you paused before turning around and extending a hand out to him, “Y’know I feel like we got off on the wrong foot before, it wouldn’t hurt if we could try to be friends? I mean you’re stuck here so it shouldn’t hurt to have someone you can talk to,” you said, reciting the words exactly as Brim told you to say. Phoenix cocked his head to the side, gazing skeptically at your hand before hesitantly taking it. “I..guess it wouldn’t hurt,” he shrugged. “Though I dunno how the rest of your mates here are gonna feel about having a mirror agent roaming around their HQ.” 

“Oh you don’t need to worry your pretty head about it,” you smiled, a slight teasing undertone in your voice slipping out. You noticed how his eyes widened slightly before a familiar cocky smile graced his face. “Well if that’s the case the I hope ya don’t mind it if I make myself at home.”

Similarly to what he said, Phoenix soon took up residence in his old room. Or was that still technically his old room if he never actually took up residence in there? It didn’t matter now. As much as you wanted to avoid him, there was just something about his whole demeanor that managed to draw you back in. No matter how much you tried to resist, you found yourself still hanging around him, like a moth drawn to the flame. You tried to convince yourself that you were doing it for Brim’s sake, and only because he had instructed you to befriend him and nothing more. But deep down, you knew better. 

It disturbed you how quickly things seemed to go back to normal. Of course the other agents at the Protocol were suspicious of him, that’s a given, but upon realizing that he was no real threat because he couldn’t exactly do anything, they treated him just like they would treat your Phoenix. 

You wanted to hate him, you really did, but you could never bring yourself to actually hate him. There were just so many similarities between him and...your Phoenix. The way his eyes would sparkle after he cracked a dumb joke, or the way he would purposely cock that stupidly cute grin whenever he outshone the others in the Range by taking out more training dummies. And how he would charge in recklessly when doing something just to prove his point.

Dammit, you were compromised. 

You tried to stuff these rampant emotions down, the way he made you feel happy, and the fact that he let you forget all about the pain and anguish that you suffered from in the aftermath of what happened to your Phoenix. But somehow, with each passing day, you found it more difficult to push him away and in turn, the jumbled up emotions inside. 

You soon fell into a familiar rhythm with him. Had bantering always come so naturally when you were with Phoenix? As much as you didn’t want to admit it, being around him lifted a weight off your shoulders, one you didn’t even know you had. Was it the burden of your guilt-ridden conscious? That didn’t really matter to you now. Was it possible....that just maybe, you’d allow yourself to be content again? 

Before you knew it, you had fallen right back in, head over heels for him.

“Y/N?” you heard him murmur your name. Looking over at him, you blinked at him curiously, wanting to hear what he had to say. “The sky...it looks nice doesn’t it?” he said, quickly averting his gaze as he looked away from you. You followed where he was looking, seeing all of the twinkling stars dancing in the night sky. “Yeah...I guess it’s nice,” you said. ‘Though it’s not as nice as spending time with you...’  you thought to yourself, keeping these thoughts to yourself. 

“Y’know when I was first captured and held here on Alpha Earth, I thought that my days here would be unbearable,” Phoenix started, his expression suddenly serious, “But then...you made it more bearable.” You stared at him in disbelief before nudging his shoulder, “Why so serious all of a sudden? That’s unlike you,” you smiled. “Am not! It’s just a thought that popped into my head is all,” Phoenix retorted, nudging you back. Your face flushed slightly from the sudden contact as you turned away, not wanting him to see how embarrassed you were. 

“Somethin’ wrong?” Phoenix asked, leaning over, concern on his face. “It’s nothing!” you yelped in alarm, suddenly standing up, “I’m leaving,” you added, turning to head to the door. “No wait!” Phoenix exclaimed, grabbing at your wrist, “Please.”

You turned to tell him off, but no words came out upon realizing just how close the two of you were. Phoenix must have also realized this, judging by how quickly he let go of your hand, a faint flush tinting his face. “S-sorry,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “Nono, it’s okay,” you quickly respond, “I just wasn’t expecting it....What did you wanna say?”

Phoenix took a deep breath to steady himself before once again taking your hand in his. “I just...there are a lot of things I want to tell you, and I can’t get all my words out at once, but hopefully this can help me get my point across.” Phoenix pulled out his phone with his free hand spending a few seconds typing into his phone before setting it down gently. 

“To be young and in love in New York City  To not know who I am but still know that I'm good long as you're here with me To be drunk and in love in New York City  Midnight into morning coffee Burning through the hours talking”

You glanced at him, an eyebrow raised, as you recognized the peppy upbeat song. “Phoenix...are you doing what I think you’re doing?” you teased him lightly, the realization kicking in. “What? It was the only thing I could think of doing,” he scowled, huffing softly, a slight pout on his face. 

“Damn, I like me better when I'm with you I like me better when I'm with you I knew from the first time, I'd stay for a long time 'cause I like me better when I like me better when I'm with you”

“Well the song already said what I wanted to, so....if you’ll have me,” he mumbled, taking your other hand in his other hand. A look of genuine sadness crossed his gaze, before he continued, “I know that I’m not exactly the same as well...the other Phoenix, but I still wanna try my best to be there for you now. ‘Cause I lost my Earth’s you the same. I lost my best friend and...the love of my life. You just...you remind me so much of them and I wanna be there for you so that we can lean against each other if we need to,” he uttered with an air of finality, his grip on your hands tightening. 

You feel your heart practically throwing itself against your chest, and the all too familiar wrenching of your heart. “Phoenix..I-”

“I don't know what it is but I got that feeling Waking up in this bed next to you swear the room Yeah, it got no ceiling If we lay, let the day just pass us by I might get to too much talking I might have to tell you something”

Your mouth felt dry as you squeezed his hands back, “But what about your home on Omega Earth? I don’t exactly think that your Protocol is going to exactly appreciate your betrayal, once they catch wind of this.” Phoenix grimaced, “Look...there’s a lot of things that I realized in my time here on Alpha Earth. The first being that, I don’t ever want to let you go again,” he whispered, brushing a stray strand of your hair out of your face, “And the second is that I came to realize how destructive us planting the spike was and...I don’t want to hurt any people unnecessarily.” Your eyes widened at his statement, almost as if you hadn’t expected him to say that. 

There’s a brief silence between the two of you, not a single word spoken, but neither of you daring to speak up first.

“Damn, I like me better when I'm with you I like me better when I'm with you I knew from the first time, I'd stay for a long time 'cause I like me better when I like me better when I'm with you”

Phoenix finally broke the silence his eyes glinting with determination, “I’m not going back. I want to stay here with you.”
