Vinsmoke children Part 1

These 2 articles will be about the Vinsmoke, mostly as 8 years old children. The first part will focus on the dynamic of the brothers. The part 2 will be more focused on their dynamic with their father. But both dynamics are connected.

I want to start with something that might sound unexpected. Ichiji is obviously the most affected by Sanji being a 'failure' , I will tell you why.

This event might look like just another bullying scene, but it's deeper than that. Ichiji is insulted to be hit bit Sanji since he consider him 'inferior' , but he also seem to be pissed off at how weak Sanji's hit was. The brutality Ichiji hit Sanji with is speaking for itself, you can feel this is an emotional beating. Ichiji rarely act, he usually just watch and supervise the bullying. However, Sanji's hit seem to have triggered something very deep within Ichiji: Disappointment and incomprehension.

You clearly see that Ichiji doesn't understand why is Sanji is different from them, I doubt Judge explained the reasons to the 3 brothers. I also doubt that they know much about their mother. Not knowing the reasons seem to be what make Ichiji so angry and Judge obviously didn't learn his sons to express their negatives feelings in another way than violence. He also seem secretly disappointed, as if he would have liked it that Sanji was like them. Of course this is not a valid reason to beat Sanji, there is never a valid reason, but this time it has a purpose in understanding Ichiji's character.

I also want to point out a plothole. We have no idea what the relation between the 4 brothers was before they learned that Sanji was a 'failure' my guess is that the 4 of them were initially close because they had no reason to naturally reject Sanji. As they grew up the differences began to be more and more apparent and when Sanji was labeled a failure, their relations worsened even more. It's like Ichiji hasn't be able to grief his brother Sanji, he doesn't accept that he is different and he doesn't understand. It's hurting him believe me or not. A bond of twins is strong it cannot be shattered that easily. If Judge had accepted from the beginning Sanji's differences I doubt this bullying would have happened. (or at least a lot less) After all, their brutal personalities are flued by the desire to be loved by their father.

You might think 'wow this girl is taking this way too far' No. I don't think I am, i'v studied in psychology and I know how to observe family dynamics even if it's a fictional familly . This is my interpretation of Oda's subtils intentions. I actually enjoy this a lot, the Vinsmoke are such a interesting familly. No one can investigate more deeply than a curious fangirl trust me on this.

Also, Ichiji is the dominant twin of the quadruplets, he is also the leader and he take pride in it. Niji and Yonji seem to consent to this and they respect Ichiji. Judge is also encouraging Ichiji in this way , he has high expectations because he believe he will be the future king of Germa. Ichiji take his role seriously, even at 8 years old he know he has to prepare for the moment he will take the throne. It's one of the reasons he absorb everything Judge teach him like a sponge and it's one of the factor that explain why Ichiji is so arrogant. As the leader and dominant twin, Ichiji is intelligent, he know he has influence on his younger brothers. He use his influence to keep Judge's beliefs in his brothers head. Ichiji seem to be the one that seek the most validation from his father. The brainwashing is strong.

Niji's reaction can be interpreted in différents way. It could be that he is simply curious about what happened to Sanji, but does not care if he is dead or alive. Or it could be a shade of a worry for Sanji's fate. Either the reason, Ichiji did not like this, he quickly remind Niji that 'who really cares about him anyway'? This same manipulation was used in this scene:

Once again, Yonji and Niji are curious about Sanji, and Ichiji once again bash Sanji to suppress any possible positive feeling toward Sanji , he doesn't take any chance. I feel this manipulation on Ichiji's part is to hide his own care for his brother Sanji. Ichiji is the model of his youngers brothers, he has the pressure to keep the balance. Ichiji is especially verbally cruel to Sanji because It appear the lost of their brother unconsciously affect him the most. Of course, these feeling are deeeeep within the brothers they are not even aware of it themselves but they know these thoughts are forbidden by their father.

The 3 of them can't hide a smile of satisfaction when they hear Sanji calling himself 'Vinsmoke Sanji'. I'm not sure if they are aware of it. It could either be hope for them to be close again somehow, or they could smile because of the excitement of beating him up at will like they used to. Or both.

Shortly after , no matter what was his reasons for smiling, the joy was temporary. Ichiji silent face speak more than it look. It's like his bubble has burst, he saw through Sanji's fake speech and he is somehow disappointed.

This is only the beginning...I will cover various more situations in the future articles. The relation between the 4 brothers is a really complicated one especially because of their father Judge. Their education is messed up.

Remember, my articles are about my analysis and my intrepretation of the story, they are not facts.

i would like to imagine that after machete dies, vasco starts collecting red things. red, like the soles of machetes shoes and the hems of his cassocks, the front of his nightgowns after a heavy nosebleed. or maybe he collects pink things, like machete's nose and ears and paw pads, or things white like his fur. he never collects anything black, however. red like the hems but never black like the fabric. black is too sad. it's grief, it's unfathomable loss and it means admitting machete is actually gone, stolen from the world. but ludovica is there, and she indulges his collections in little ways on the occasion. it's a small comfort, her love for her husband in their lavender way.

Someone needs to say it: The "Heaven is actually bad" plot line that Hazbin is based around is useless when you spend more then 2 minutes thinking about Vivzie's Hell and her characters.

Besides it being much too early for this idea, the revelation that Heaven or at least the beings running it aren't good people has little to no impact when the people who are being harmed by this are all horrible people. Stay with me here. None of these people are people who were unfairly brought into hell and we are never ever introduced to someone who was either. Why should we care that Heaven is "evil" and blocking redemption when all the sinners in hell we see are the worst of the worst who would have never gotten in even if it was fair.

For the "Heaven is bad" plot line to actually work, you need people who were just one sin away from Heaven, who would've gotten into Heaven if circumstance hadn't forced them down a path that stole it from them. You need characters who aren't comedic villains but land in the middle of morally grey. Those who deserved to be in Heaven but because Heaven refused to consider their circumstances, they were tossed to burn with people much worse than them. Those are the people who should be your main cast cause those are the people who would actually be impacted by Heaven being bad/ Heaven lying.

Angel dust, for all his trauma, was still part of the mafia and likely had killed people before (showing to almost take joy in it). Husk became an overlord and gambled souls, so he had to have had blood on his hands before hell. Alastor is a serial killer, and the list goes on and on. Sure, these characters are (somewhat) interesting, but they don't make for good characters to have when the key plot line is that Heaven is a scam. Even if that fact is true, none of them were ever going to get there in the first place and this is something we also se in every single background sinner shown in Hell too. They were never close to getting there, so why would they or we care that Heaven is bad when all sinners are shown to be horrific people who are at best in the dark grey area of morality.

If you look at it from the "angel's are unfairly killing sinners" route, it still doesn't work. If the angels are killing them, what makes it different then the sinner on sinner violence that hell is full off? Why is them dying by angels this bad thing when they are just as likely if not 10x times more likely to get knifed in the back by other sinners in hell the other 364 days, especially when everyone here apparently is just as horrible as the next person. You cannot condemn the angels for killing demons and then make a joke of out sinners killing each other and never show sinners who doesn't want to kill people. Life either matters or it doesn't and when the main cast doesn't even show a care for life (outside of Charlie's who's entire flaw is her naivety), why should the audience.

On top of that, Vivzie's whole overpopulation aspect and the Heaven plot line would connect better if she actually had people like those I mentioned above, people who stole to survive but got tossed out cause stealing is technically wrong, people who killed another to protect someone else but were still sent to hell because even though they saved that person's life that person wasn't supposed to be saved, people who passively engaged in sins but never really did anything harmful under them. This would add into how Hell is so overpopulated and highlight why its so important that Heaven is evil/ why Charlie's plan isn't just a naive pathetic fever dream.

In the end, Vivzie should have never made Heaven the central plot of this show nor tried to assign this blatant good vs evil to that conflict. Neither her characters nor her writing choices are able to respond to this conflict in a way that will end or even tell the story in a satisfactory manner.

I'm sorry this show will never make me care about Mysaria of all people. Mysaria? Who's greatest (book) contributions were procuring young maids for Daemon to deflower, organizing the murder of a six-year-old, having said six-year-old's sister, mother, and grandmother brutalized, (allegedly) suggesting Alicent and Helaena be sent to the brothels and be forced to have bastards, (allegedly) playing a role in Helaena's death, and convincing Rhaenyra to put a hit out on a sixteen-year-old black girl. That Mysaria?

but of course, hotd would have us think her ultimate goal is protecting vulnerable women and teaming up with Rhae to fight the patriarchy when her book counterpart gained all her power and influence by exploiting the weakest and most vulnerable women and young girls in King's Landing. something something women will take advantage of other women to carve out a scrap of power and safety in a patriarchal world but she's not on team green so of course she can't be bad.

Anyways... every time a king's landing character speaks of Mysaria positively know that there's a reason they called her "Lady Misery" in the books 🙃

And i can’t even filter these out for my own peace of mind because you don’t tag your shit properly.

The Beginning

I cannot start my arguments without mentioning what has been said in the manga. Even if it has been mentioned that the Vinsmoke brothers are supposed to be cold hearted killing machines, I can't help to believe that it is not 100% true. There are contradictions with what is being said and what is being shown. I repeat, I'm writing based on my observations and my own analysis. This should be considered as theories with some headcanons and it should not be considered as facts.

First, I cannot start this blog without showing you this:

Isn't that incredible? It seems that Reiju herself was also born as an emotionless human, she LEARNED how to develop feelings. Her brothers are far behind her in term of expressing and feeling emotions, but this still mean that they ALSO have the possibility to learn how to gradually feel emotions. The main reason that it is complicated for them is yes because of their modifications , but especially because of Judge's education since they could not benefit from their mother's. As the manga progress, they are a few improvements that can be noticed in the brothers behavior. Of course it's noting revolutionary, but it does exist you will see that through the articles I will write.

Secondly, let's talk about Reiju's statements about her brothers being born with no emotions:

It all started when Reiju overheard a harsh conversation between her parents. They both believed that the quadruplets will be born emotionless, this is mostly true. I believe a similar fight has broke off between Sora and Judge before Reiju was born, since judging from the vivre card she had the same biological modifications (aside she had an 'extra' that she can't disobey Judge...) Sora probably believed she could reverse the process by teaching her daughter how to develop emotions. It proved to be successful. What I suppose is that Sora decided to use a more drastic measure for her 4 sons because she knew she could probably not invest as much time as she did with her daughter.

However, the young Reiju interiorized this, she came to the conclusion that her brothers did not have emotions while not knowing that she herself also had no emotion when she was born. The nuance here is that Reiju specify which emotions the brothers doesn't have. Reiju has good justifications for thinking this, because it is true that most of the time her brothers do act as heartless beings especially toward Sanji. This is no secret.

Reiju doesn't seem close to their brothers, they seems to maintain a superficial relationship, thus she can't really see more than their ruthless side.

Sanji agree with Reiju's reasoning which is completely understandable since from what we know he only knew his brothers brutal's side.

You know what's a scenario that won't leave my head? Lucifer being dragged off to a Deadly Sin reunion party in the Gluttony ring, returning home hours later giggly and COMPLETELY wasted, and Alastor having to deal with him.

Imagine Lucifer the moment he sees Al, stumbling up and zero hesitation throwing his arms around the deer's middle and saying, "Aaaaayyy Beautiful~🤤🥰😚" And just Alastor's reaction to that!🤭😁

Just Lucifer being so uninhibited and openly affectionate and drunkenly showering Al with complements. At some point, Luc pulls out a tiny little drink umbrella (red with white stipes with little black devil horns on top) that reminded him of Alastor. And forgetting that he can FLY, he climbs Al like a tree and, oh so carefully, nestles the umbrella between Alastor's ear and antler.

Lucifer then proceeds to latch onto Alastor with all his limbs like a koala, refusing to let go. And poor Al is just at a loss as to how to handle this clingy, sweet-talking gremlin🤣🤣🤣

Lucifer didn't remember anything the next morning, Alastor pretended it never happened, but Husk and Angel will never forget.
