Sugar Daddy
“I thought you might like your own.” Bruce said uncomfortably from where he stood on Stephanie’s left in the bat cave. She stared opened mouthed at the new motorcycle that stood there, sleek and shiny and obnoxiously purple. “You seemed to really love Jason’s. I can return it of course, if you don’t-“ Stephanie cut off his rambling by slamming into him in a hug. Bruce started but after a second hugged her back. Stephanie pulled away, vibrating with excitement. “Oh my gods B. You’re like- actually my sugar daddy.” He pulled a face. “Without the sexual innuendo.” She added. Bruce let out a long, deep suffering sigh, but she noticed some of the tension had eased from his shoulders. “So… you like it?” Steph grinned. “Like it? I love it. And the color.” Bruce smirked. “I figured.” “Thanks for buying it for me daddy.” She batted her eyelashes at him. “I promise to repay you.” She winked. Bruce closed his eyes for a short second in regret. “Why did I ever decide having kids was a good idea?” He grumbled. Stephanie let out an over dramatic gasp. “Excuse me? Since when am I adopted?!?” Bruce raised an eyebrow, looking at her. “You mean you aren’t? You have your own room here and I have a headache induced by your presence.” Steph raised her eyebrow back. “You’re telling me that’s all the qualifications of being your child? Then half the justice league would live here.” Bruce chuckled, rolling his eyes. “That’s not all the qualifications. But it’s a big one.” He shifted uneasily. Steph smiled slightly. “Sorry daddio. But I’d rather not be adopted.” She waved her hand. “All that legal bizz and having to deal with horribly wealthy judgy people.” She shook her head. “No thanks.” Bruce’s smile seemed strained. “I could- unofficially adopt you.” He offered. “Only if you like.” He hastened to add. “It would just place me as your legal guardian. And we could do it quietly. No one would know besides us. And you wouldn’t have to attend galas or anything.” He cleared his throat. “Only if you like of course.” Steph gaped at him. “Oh. My. Gods. Bruce Wayne are you really adoption proposing to me right now???” Bruce smirked, some tension leaving him as she slipped back into their usual banter, and got on one knee, pulling a random ring from somewhere. “Will you, Stephanie Brown, accept my humble plea and officially become my daughter?” Despite the teasing tone and joking manner in which he said it, Steph still felt tears gathering in her eyes. “Yes.” She whispered. Bruce stood and slowly walked over, slipping the ring on her finger. “You’ve been claimed.” She couldn’t help but squeeze out, mimicking Bruce’s deep voice. He laughed, wrapping an arm around her in a half hug. “Welcome.” He murmured, pressing a kiss to her hair. “Officially,” he corrected. “To the family.”

I think there's no greater indication that disco elysium is sympathetic towards communism when it literally says "communism is failure" and then the literal gameplay itself rewards trying and failing. The most obvious one being the Shivers check at the FELD mural, which is an Impossible 20 check BUT opens itself up again and again the longer you spend in the world doing things, but even just looking at sheer probabilities, for any given white check, rolling first and THEN putting a point into that skill upon failure is more likely to grant you success than putting a point first and then rolling, but that would require failing first.
Other things too: Precarious world saying you'll 100% fail red checks no matter what (not necessarily a bad thing, btw!! throwing the boule into the sea is a success but like. in some other ways one would want a perfect petanque throw instead. but people wouldn't typically assume that failure is desirable sometimes from the start) persuading you to accept that you'll fail some things that is irrevocable, for a world where everything is just a tiny bit easier.
The faux game over screen when you faint after reading Dora's letter— emulating a sense of failure on the scale of the entire game. When it rolls up most people go "What?? Game over?? No way, what did I do wrong!!" and waking up after that, with no huge or lasting impact on Harry's health or morale really tells the player, "Sometimes things will seem so bad that it all seems like it's coming to an end, but it's not the end, it's really not the end, go drink so water, you can still go on despite this failure"
I'm sure there are other things as well that are eluding me but like. The literal gameplay rewards failing and succeeding far more so than simply succeeding every single time, and I think you get a fuller experience of Elysium that way too

if the theory of sam reich being replaced by .. evil wizard dalton reich (and i cant believe i am partaking in this discurse) is true..
i've seen some people asking the question about what those childhood tapes mean. Well i am one of the ancient ones that owned vhs tapes and you know you could replace whats stored on those tapes with overwriting it with new material but it would slowly degrade the quality as the magnetic tape the information is stored on isn't necessarly made to be re-recorded on indefinetly which would also explain the degrading quality of the gamechanger episode.
So my theory is that dalton reich wants to erase sam from history and to do this he is slowly erasing any proof that could hint on sam and dalton being two different people. One thing he appearantly needed to do is overwrite these old vhs tapes of sams childhood.

do u think that um. yk Julian was having a rough time in the later seasons. and ofc he wants to talk abt it, wants someone to help him process it, wants someone to just listen. but it's not easy to talk abt. and he wants to talk to Garak, wants Garak to know what's going on in his life, wants to be vulnerable and be met with support and care. but Garak is so emotionally unavailable and so unwilling to break his pleasant facade and so unwilling to deviate from their little social script. he was taught never to show care or vulnerability. and Julian gets so tired of playing their little game when, god, there's a war going on, his life is falling apart, can't Garak even acknowledge how bad things are for both of them? he doesn't need witty retorts, he needs sincerity. and Garak can't give him that. so he withdraws from their friendship. and it's not that Garak doesn't care. it's not that he doesn't want to help. but sincerity and vulnerability were beaten out of him a long time ago, and he doesn't know how to take off his mask. even just acknowledging genuine emotion is practically impossible for him. and maybe that's why ASIT is the apology that it is. it's saying, here, I've learned to be honest, I've learned to be vulnerable. I know the harm I caused you by refusing to acknowledge pain, so here's a whole book of me acknowledging pain.

fake psychic Tim but its just. its just psych. Jason dies and batman goes off the deep end so Tim (instead of becoming robin) starts going ham on the 'tips to the police' bc if the police can deal with the smaller crimes then Tim doesn't have to worry about batman killing a petty thief.
Except he's running himself into the ground and he starts getting sloppy bc he's giving the local police info, and bludhaven info (bc dick) AND probably giving Nightwing info when he can and someone catches him or he leaves a paper trail and then Officer Dick Grayson apprehends him and takes him in for questioning and Tim is like "you can't talk to me without my parents or a lawyer present, I'm a minor. And my parents are in Guatemala, so you better call my lawyer."
and Dick is like "kid you're not in trouble i just need to know who's giving you this information." Because there is NO WAY this kid isn't working with someone. Someone who is using a child to drop off information, which while noble to help the police, is putting this child in danger and tim is like, pretty offended actually. That it's being implied that he COULDN'T do this himself.
So he's like "im not working for anyone."
and Dick is like "you have to be getting the info from somewhere. I just wanna help."
and Tim is like AUGH ADULTS "I just- i figured it out on my own" and its CLEAR that Dick doesn't believe him which is, first off, super insulting, never meet your heroes, and second he shouldn't be talking anyway or admit that he goes out at night or Dick will do something stupid like try to make him stop. So he's like (rolling eyes) "I'm psychic. Are you happy? Can I have my phone call now?"

this all being said about the light dragon and how it is definitely the biggest highlight of totk (for me at least), i Do think a lot of the reaction to it Is dependent on botw and zelda's characterisation from that game... a lot of which is kind of lacking in totk because of her more passive role (e.g. you are told about her + see her actions after they have already happened)
like. if you didn't already really like zelda and were sold on her relationship with link (and not even just from a shipping zelink perspective, like. just UNDERSTANDING they have a strong bond from everything they've gone through together) then i'm not sure if any of that stuff in totk would've hit as hard as it did. the game does very little to build on what we already know about them, which i think is both a letdown to new players (which. i am not sure why they are playing the sequel before botw, but that is how totk acts most of the time lmao) and returning ones, and as time goes on it's become harder for me to blame people for not caring for it as much.
what a truly odd game

I'm not saying anything. I'm not saying anything.
All I'm saying is:
-> 2007 french-countryside-shritless-bike rides-summer happened. (And then lots of making love eyes)
-> (then possibly along with their TLSP times ending they put a stop to not just the gigs... But maybe other ✨developments✨ too 👀)
-> But then? 2015 recording-of-their-second-album and moving-in-next-to-each-other-being-glued-together happened (resulting in even more of the love eyes)
And we got this:
And possibly this:
And then a lot of unknown things happened. (Possibly potential ✨developments✨ being stopped part 2.)
And in 2022 we got this:
That's all I'm saying.

i think everyone on sunnytwt needs to be sat down so i can explain to them what basic human empathy is. and then maybe i put them in a blender until they agree to write meta about the characters instead of whether or not charlie day got facial reconstruction surgery.

I normally don't vague post about other people (and I'm not really here, even) but someone in the tag suggested that Jack would make a better Team Leader than Yusei and it made me realize something, in part, about why people think that Yusei is boring.
tl;dr: Yusei isn't boring; he was written as the MC in the wrong genre.
See, Shonen protagonists typically have the following personality traits: loud, brash, hot-headed, sometimes abrasive. Yusei is none of those things, and Jack is ALL of them. Which, I'm sure, is what led that person to say that Jack would make the better leader and what leads so many people (who are mostly only fans of Shonen anime) to say that Yusei is boring. He doesn't fit their expectations of what a Shonen protag is supposed to look like, therefore he's boring.
But the thing is, if you popped him into, say, a Slice of Life, he'd be perfectly at home (well...except for the Trademark YGO Hair anyway) and well-loved by the fan base. I can say this with fair certainty because I've at least never seen anyone say that Natsume Takashi (Natsume's Book of Friends) is boring in any way, and honestly the two of them have very similar temperaments. The difference is, obviously, the genre of their respective stories.
Slice of Life allows for its protags to be softer-spoken, more reserved; Shonen often does not.
It's time people stopped saying that Yusei is boring and just admit that they like loud, brash characters as opposed to quiet ones, and that Yusei just doesn't fit what they expect from a Shonen protagonist.
He's not boring; he was just written for the wrong genre.

i love to think about the ways eiffel is willing/able to take up physical space for hera when she can’t. i think... with eiffel and hera and minkowski staying together post-canon, one thing that might start to really bother hera is that, like. she doesn’t have any stuff. she doesn’t even have herself to be there in the house, really, not physically. and unlike with the hephaestus, a house that is actually meant to be a home, a place that is designed for human life, is always full of reminders of the people who live there. so i want to think that she expresses this to eiffel and he starts picking up stuff he thinks she’ll like just to put it on the shelves and around the house, so it’s her house too. and she thinks it’s kind of silly at first because it’s not like she can really interact with most of it, but. then she sees all of her stuff mixed together with eiffel’s on the shelves and it’s like this constant reminder that she exists in the world, that she has an impact on it and a place in it. and that does make her feel a little better.

not to start shit but as someone who was on the front lines of tjlc during season 4 it's insanely funny to see people huffing the same exact breed of copium like these are word for word just repeated arguments that ppl made back then. like bro if you think the writing was bad that's because your opinion is that the writing was bad. it's okay to think the writing was bad. see *i* dont think it was bad but your repeated insistence that "we all agree it was bad" just tells me that you need people to agree with you because you can't just accept that you didn't like something. like im sorry but sometimes the things you like are gonna make you go "huh i think that bit was badly written" and that's okay it's not some big conspiracy 🙏🙏🙏🙏

⛏️...
i doubt this will be addressed directly in the story, but if shii experiences other people's suffering and abuse as her own in her dreams, that has... some really, really dark implications about the sorts of things she has to go through every night.
on the bright side, it's only a dream, and she has the fortune of waking up from it safe and unharmed. so in a sense, she is better off than the victims themselves. but she'd still be left feeling shaken and filthy, and then she'd have to live through it again later. and again. and again. on top of the other awful dreams she has.
just. god. poor shii.

so because nick was able to almost raise lucifer from the empty, we really have to assume that anyone could do it. like all he had was some determination and a hammer, and he could have pulled it off. so. what im saying is that this leads us to assume that in-universe, dean just didnt feel like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
