okay a few more danyal al ghul au memes because i think they're funny to make. with bonus yaelokre danyal memes!
yaelokre! danyal 🤝 threes! danyal:
being five years older than damian
yaelokre danyal comes from my oneshot right here. however, i would frankly recommend reading the version i put on ao3 because it's been edited and includes more content! shout out to my boy, he's got amnesia </3
Do i think that the LOA has technology in it? Absolutely I do. LED lights but in 3000k warm white instead of the jarring bright sterile white, if they've got glass windows they're those solar panel glass panes my college natural science building uses that detects sunlight position, which in term controls the lights, which in turn saves energy. Amber lights for outside, solar panels. Just. anything environmentally sound and friendly, they've got it, they use it.
Do i think they've got computers and tvs lying around for casual recreational use? ....that i'm not so sure about. For this au? I'm gonna say nooooottt really. That stuff is typically reserved for like, mission planning, debriefing, research, etc. Frankly danny probably does know how to use a computer, however i thought it was funny if he didn't. so the meme is staying in lmao.
If they're not training, they've probably like, got a greenhouse or two somewhere on base they can help with. The LoA's whole thing is balance, harmony, restoring the natural world with extreme environmentalism. All that jazz. Probably plenty of ponds, recreational areas outside, gardens, just, stuff to do that's not technology based. My most basic understanding is that these people are the world's deadliest hippies. They can't be training all the time, that's neither good for morale nor for their bodies, so when they're not training... they're off doing shit. If Ras has kept this thing running for thousands of years then it’s gotta be pretty lit enough that nobody’s revolted lmao.

I've been watching ST since s1 came out and I feel like over the years peoples opinions of this scene have changed drastically but maybe that's just me?
I feel like even my own opinions on it have changed, It's a lot more "50/50 they're both in the wrong" to me now than it was back in 2016, but still I want to hear what people have to say. Please feel free to add your reasons in the tags!

It's kinda funny how scattershot my approach to the 2D games has been lol.
AM2R: Beat, 100%
Zero Mission: Beat but haven't/won't complete percentage
Metroid: Completed percentage but haven't beat
Dread: Working on it
What a skip lol
I want to play Super and Fusion and the other two versions of Metroid II properly, I've watched enough playthroughs to have a good feel for them but it's no replacement for actually experiencing them myself. But I do think I want Return Of Samus to be the last one, (until future releases anyway) but not in a "putting off the worst until all other options are exhausted" way, more a "saving the best for last" way. I already know I'll love it for the story and how that's conveyed, but I want it to be special.

it's kind of wild seeing people trying to cling to "if you're not part of this minority group, stay in your lane" and "if a minority tells you something is bigotry, then it unequivocally is and you shouldn't argue" takes when not only have they increasingly lost overall popularity as we've seen more and more people use their minority status as a shield against criticism for reactionary politics or actions (see: conservatives queer people, the guy who defended working for a weapons company by bringing up his transness and disability, the thread insulting doordash workers under the guise of quirky misandry, etc. etc.) but during this particular time it's so blatant that many people, including and especially those with authority, are willing to call any and all solidarity with Palestine antisemitic. anti-Zionist Jews are being arrested the world over, while simultaneously being called "not real Jews" by Israel and its supporters, which frankly reads as a threat by the people claiming to be the only safe haven for Jews, but this is given less air time than random people putting a call for Palestinian freedom on their protest signs and social media bios. hell, I've seen calling Israel a settler colony being touted as antisemitism because it bares a vague resemblance to the "rootless cosmopolitan" talking points. to anyone with eyes and a brain, it's obvious the pro-Israel side uses accusations of antisemitism as a silencing tactic. so you have to actively shut off your critical thinking to accept this argument that only Jews and Palestinians are allowed to say X or Y, rather than arguing why X or Y is bad on its own. and if people are unable to argue the latter well, tough shit, their point was bullshit anyway.

when I was 19 in 2019 I got these Vibes about 2023, it wouldn't be good or bad it would just be a Significant year
2020 was so bad that 2021 could only be better, it started good and then I got paranoid that 2022 was gonna be bad in comparison, so I mentally prepared myself for 2022 months in advance
then by the summer 2021 suddenly became worse than all of 2020 combined, but it improved by about september
bc of the mentally preparing myself months before, 2022 was amazing, but bc it started so good I got the feeling that it wouldn't end well
the last 4 months were pretty bad, and then came 2023
I got many different vibes for it over the past 4 years, but one of the main things was that there'd been a pattern going since 2015
2015: extremely good
2016: extremely bad
2017: average
2018: pretty decent
2019: extremely good
2020: extremely bad
2021: average
2022: pretty decent
so 2023 was expected to be really good? but also it had to get up from 2022's bad ending so the goodness was gradual
my brain is prepared for a good last 4 months to compare to 2022's bad last 4 months
but also following the pattern, 2024 should be extremely bad, and once I've got the thought in my head that a year will be bad, there's no going back. which would explain the extremely bad year following an extremely good year
2015 and 2019 were unreal, which meant 2016 and 2020 would've looked bad in comparison no matter what, so they just completely gave up and decided to be awful
but anyway it's 'getting paranoid about next year' season, also I can never escape the patterns of time etc etc
