Your chances for a better life don’t end after your 20s. It’s a new beginning, that’s all. You can still chase your dreams at an older age, you can make new paths, new careers, and you will find new opportunities to improve your life. Growing old doesn’t have to mean becoming obsolete, even if society glamorizes being young. You’re not wasted or useless because you’re older. You don’t have an expiration date set to your 30s, 40s, 50s… because you’re not an object for consumption, so don’t ever let society make you believe that. You’re on this earth to live the best way you can, and you can still change your life at any age, even if other people don’t give you credit because you’re growing older.

The biggest trap of your teens and early 20s is to believe that any given situation is absolute, and that things will remain the same forever™️. I’m not blaming anyone for this because when we first experience love and grief and sorrow and anxiety it sure feels like a lot to process and it’s okay to be overwhelmed but I promise things can and will change.
Maybe your first love won’t last forever, maybe it shouldn’t last forever, but your first heartbreak won’t last forever either. Pain has its way of being so powerful that it makes us doubt that we could ever have a different future where pain isn’t prevalent and this feeling might make us just want to give up. But you will find new joy too. Again and again. You just have to stick around to find it. You will start over. Again and again. You’re not stuck and this is not the end. Maybe you should explore life and what it provides you, good and bad, knowing that in the transitional nature of things, nothing lasts forever, and it can be very sad when things end, but it can also be for the better. No feeling is final, meaning that even though joy didn’t last forever, neither will your pain. Coming from a person in their late 20s who fell into the trap of believing certain things would last forever even though she was only taking her first steps in life, please believe that you will find your answers, you will learn to let go, you will experience beautiful things in life again. You just have to take my hand and stick around long enough to find them. So please, do.
