Part 1: All of Her Days
“This really feels like cheating,” you mused.
Yet again, you surveyed the sheer size and luxury of this tent you were supposed to be “camping” in.
Between the giant king-sized bed with crème and burgundy comforters, a two-seater dining table, a dresser (with a vanity), and even a small bookshelf, it looked like the Taj Mahal of glamping.
“Can’t you just enjoy it?” your best friend replied, poking a teasing finger into your side. She smirked when you flinched and gave her some playful side-eye. “My parents are the ones footing the bill, anyway.”
“Of which, I intend to pay them back for my half,” you said. Mary just rolled her eyes and waved you off. Her parents’ money was something she’d never had a problem spending.
“Come on, they’re getting ready to go on the hike without us,” she said, tossing her little purse over her shoulder. You were a bit more practical with your backpack, filled with a bottle of water, a couple snacks, bug spray, and your sketch pad.
Mary bumped your shoulder with hers as you two walked out of the tent, and you gave her a smile. You were glad she insisted on this little week-long excursion. It gave you exactly five more days to enjoy the fresh air of no responsibilities, before you returned to reality.
Tumblr media
“So where are you guys from?” you asked a couple of walking companions on the early-morning hike.
The woods of Helena, Montana were vast and deep, and you found them a bit intimidating. You were a city girl, through and through, but you were learning to appreciate the mountains and the steep trails flanked by dense trees. You were also grateful that you weren’t alone.
Emily seemed to be a nice girl around sixteen, while her stepfather Avery was a lightly graying man in his 40s. You pegged his accent as English, the “casual posh” kind. On a scale from Dame Maggie Smith to Dick Van Dyke's attempt at cockney, you’d put Avery on a Benedict Cumberbatch level.
“Well, I met her mother in Houston,” Avery replied, nodding at the girl beside you. “She and Emily joined me here in Helena after we were married this past spring.”
Emily confirmed with a nod. “Yep, starting school here in a few months.”
At that, you could smile. “Me too, actually.”
Emily gave you a confused look while she fiddled with an app on her phone.
“What? You’re still in school?” she asked.
“No,” you laughed. “I’m—”
“She’s a college professor,” Mary tacked on. “AKA: a giant nerd.”
Emily tried not to smile at your expense. You just shook your head at your friend.
“Thanks,” you said wryly, despite your amusement. “We can’t all be personal trainers. One can only take so much Spandex.”
Mary rolled her eyes and prepared to fire back a retort, but your attention shifted back to Emily, who seemed to be debating whether to press a red button on her phone. You thought it looked like a voice recording app.
You followed her line of vision and saw Paige and Luke up ahead—a young “happy couple” here at Sunny Day Excursions. They were whisper-yelling at each other, sniping something about Luke’s birthday. Apparently, he had a problem with getting another year older.
Don’t we all, you thought, with no small amount of sarcasm. The guy had been a sour apple since the start of this trip, and to be honest, he was starting to get on your damn nerves.
“This is like, prime time stuff for my podcast,” Emily whispered.
You looked over at her. “Oh yeah? What’s your podcast about?”
“Relationships, lies, that sort of thing,” she replied.
You almost grimaced. Good luck finding willing subjects for that one.
Mary snickered on your other side. She leaned close to your ear so only you would hear.
“God, Paige’s voice is so effing annoying. Like a chipmunk on helium,” she said. “I feel sorry for him.”
You shot her a dry look. “He’s the one asking for it, if you ask me. But they’ve been going at it the whole time. Makes me feel sorry for both of them.”
You shook your head and kept walking on the trail. Mary sobered as she stared back at you. She was reminded of why you two were really here, and what you’d been through this past year…
What you all had been through.
You and Mary fell behind Avery and Emily on the trail, giving Mary the opportunity to touch your arm and stop you in the middle of the trail.
“Do you really plan to stay here?” she asked. “In dusty-ass Montana? With the snakes and the bears and the old hicks?”
“Well, I got the key to my apartment before we got here,” you said. And she knew that. “My aunt is letting me crash with her until the rest of my things ship over in a couple of weeks, and I start a new job in the fall. So yeah, I’m staying.”
Mary’s lips pursed. She gave you a long look, but you held your ground. You even popped your Airpods in for good measure. You were done with this conversation.
She huffed and kept walking.
You watched your friend go in annoyance. You knew she would try to talk you out of your decision at some point on this trip, but you hadn’t expected it to be so soon.
Heaving a sigh, you looked up at the clear sky above you, filtered through the tall trees. You took a moment to collect yourself in this great big no man’s land, where you could finally let yourself slow down for a minute, and breathe.
You raised the volume in your Airpods when a particular song came through.
“All of her days have gone soft and cloudy. All of her dreams have gone dry,” crooned the soft melody. You nodded to the rhythm of the mellow notes, but all the while, you tried to blink through the sting of tears.
“All of her nights have gone sad and shady. She's getting ready to fly…”
You rubbed your left hand, where you still had the tan line of the ring you used to wear.
Tumblr media
“It’s really okay, sweetie,” Mary tried to console you, rubbing her hand between your shoulders.
After the hike, you all had returned to camp and sat down to brunch. It was an amazing spread, with waffles and muffins and Danishes, eggs done three different ways, toast with jam, assorted sandwiches, coffee and orange juice (and sparkling wine for the adults).
But even with a huge plate of appetizing food in front of you, you were sulking a bit. You had your face covered by your hands as you rested your elbows on the table.
“One of my only goals on this trip was to ride a damn horse, and I couldn’t even do that,” you said.
Sunny Barnes and her husband Buck were the heads and hosts of this whole trip. And after the hike, their son, Cormack, had tried to help you onto the nice chestnut mare the handler had brought out of the stable for you. But your entire body had locked up in fear at the prospect of being vaulted onto the horse.
In fairness, she was huge. And you were both afraid of heights, and animals that could buck you off its back and trample you.
You hadn’t been able to speak. You just shook your head vigorously every time Cormack asked you if you were okay.
So he’d graciously patted your back and gave the mare to Emily instead.
“I’ve never been able to ride a horse either,” Avery offered in commiseration. You lowered your hands and gave him a wan smile.
Emily was carving an apple with an impressive (and somewhat scary) looking pocketknife. She shrugged.
“It’s not so hard,” she said. But, perhaps realizing how she sounded, she looked up and gave you an apologetic look. “Sorry. I mean, I’m sure you’ll get it! It’s hard in the beginning, but once you get used to it, it’s like riding a bike.”
Right. A bike with hooves, you thought, ripping a piece of bread from your egg and cheese sandwich.
Mary bumped your shoulder with a teasing smile. “You just got showed up by a high schooler. Again.”
You pursed your lips in amusement. You tossed the piece of bread. It hit her dead between the eyes. You giggled at the way she jumped with a start.
“Real mature,” she shot back.
“Yeah,” you replied, taking a giant bite of your sandwich for good measure. “I learned from you.”
Even Emily snickered, making Mary roll her eyes in amusement.
Shortly after, Avery and his stepdaughter were finished with brunch and got up to get back to their tents.
You glanced over and noticed that Emily had left her knife on the table, now closed in its sheath.
Tumblr media
Sheriff Beau Arlen may have still been relatively new in town, but he considered himself a consummate professional.
He’d agreed to accompany Cassie, the local private investigator (and his friend), up to this mountain pass to look for a missing backpacker. Questioning Buck and Sunny Barnes and their crew was just good old-fashioned, thorough police work.
But if it also gave Beau a chance to check on his daughter up here “glamping” with her half-baked stepfather, then he couldn’t pass up on that opportunity, now could he?
After talking to Buck and Sunny, who hadn’t seen hide or hair of the backpacker, Beau let Cassie take care of questioning Cormack Barnes while Beau found his daughter outside her tent. After giving her a big hug and inspecting her “tent” (Really? he thought. Looks more like a hotel room than a tent.), he asked her how her trip was going so far.
“Good, Dad. But you really didn’t have to come all the way out here just to check up on me,” Emily said. She was amused, but no longer surprised to see him.
“No, no, no. I didn’t, okay?” Beau refuted. Though at the look on her face, he knew he wasn’t fooling her. She was a sharp kid. “All right, maybe not the only reason. We had to talk to Sunny about a missing backpacker. It’s something Cassie’s investigating.”
Emily’s amusement faded into surprise, and then concern.
“Wait, what?” she said.
“Oh, I’m sure it’s nothing. Just, you know…parents probably didn’t get the memo that ‘off-the-grid’ was part of the deal,” he said, giving her a meaningful raise of his brows. Maybe his daughter didn’t have to screen so many of his calls while she was on this trip.
“Overprotective parents, huh?” Emily dryly remarked.
“The worst,” Beau agreed, shaking his head.
But he smiled. Just seeing her made his whole week better…and it alleviated some of the hurt in his heart. Not getting to be with her on a trip like this stung. And knowing Avery was the one who got to be there for her grated on him.
Beau was already missing too much of his daughter’s life, and he still wasn’t too sure on how to deal with that.
Speak of the devil, he thought. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Avery approaching. Beau forced himself to look as close to pleasant as he could get around his ex-wife’s husband.
Tumblr media
While Mary went back to the tent to freshen up, you grabbed Emily’s pocketknife and went to look for her so you could return it. It had a wood-carved hilt and had her initials, E. A., engraved on the side. The knife looked special, not the kind of thing you wanted to lose.
You found her outside her tent with her stepfather, and a man you didn’t know. He had broad shoulders and short brown hair that swept above his brow. When he turned to look at you, the first thing you noticed was the cut of his bearded chin, and then the green of his eyes.
You didn’t realize it, but your insides stilled, just for a moment. Then you remembered to smile.
Avery looked a bit tense, as did the newcomer. You sensed you were interrupting a tete-a-tete.
“Uh, hi. I’m sorry,” you said, and extended the sheathed knife toward Emily. “Just wanted to get this back to you. You left it at the table.”
“Oh! Thanks,” Emily said gratefully.
“Well, hi there,” said the new guy. He was tall, you noted, wearing a beige jacket over a buttoned-down shirt, some jeans, and boots. It was a casual look, but all worked very well for him…in a rugged cowboy sense.
“This is my dad,” Emily supplied.
“Sheriff Beau Arlen, ma’am,” he said, giving you a more friendly smile that you matched in kind when you shook his hand. You also gave him your name to go along with it.
“You here for a little belated vacation, Sheriff?” you added.
“No. Matter of fact, I’m here on police business,” he replied. That concerned you, but he was quick to wave a dismissive hand. “Everything’s okay here. Just checking on a missing backpacker. But it looks like we’ll have to continue our search for him elsewhere.”
You hummed at that in concern. “Well, I hope you find him.”
“I do too,” he agreed with a nod.
Then, Emily took the slight pause in the conversation as her chance to escape.
“Okay, Dad, well, we’re gonna go hike down to the lake,” she said, gesturing at Avery. “But as you can see, I’m fine. We’re fine.”
Beau’s smile became a bit tight, but he nodded in understanding. He gave her a big hug, and you could see he was reluctant to let her go. Avery stood behind them. He held tension in his shoulders. You felt a bit awkward yourself, being in the midst of what was clearly an uneasy family dynamic.
Beau released his daughter. After she took off with Avery following close behind, Beau turned to you next. You tried not to blush at the sight of his handsome face.
“Sorry, again,” you said, raising a placating hand. “I didn’t mean to intrude.”
His lips twitched upward, and he shook his head. “You’re fine. Though you don’t look like a local. You from outta town?”
I could say the same thing about you, cowboy, you thought. There was a slight southern drawl in his voice that sounded like Alabama. Maybe Texas?
“You got me,” you nodded. “I’m from Chicago originally, but…I’ve actually just moved here to Helena.”
“Ahh, a city girl,” he remarked. “Small world. I just got here a few months ago myself. Houston, Texas.”
Your smile brightened. Right on the money.
“Yeah, I figured,” you couldn’t help teasing him a little. His grin kicked up in the corner.
“How’re the mountains and fresh air treating you then?” he asked. “Better than that blanket a’ smog in Chicago.”
“We do not have smog…or, well, not that much,” you laughed, “but yes, I’m actually really liking it here so far. I mean, I just got here about a week ago. I’m still learning. Though Emily actually tried to help me ride a horse today.”
“Yeah?” His brows raised. “How’d that go?”
You had to laugh. A kind of self-deprecating laugh that had you half-covering your face to stem off your blush.
“Not well,” you admitted.
Beau ducked his head with a smile. He met your eyes in amusement, but not without kindness.
“Well, here’s a tip for ya,” he said. He planted his feet, held his hands up into lightly clenched fists. “The trick is in the legs. Grip tight, but not too tight. He’ll think you’re rarin’ to go.”
You blinked a bit wider. Was that just honest advice…or was he sort of flirting with you?
It made you blush in earnest.
“Ah. Good to know,” you said with a laugh. He treated you with a tip of his imaginary hat.
“Hey,” someone called out.
Both of your heads turned to a tall black woman with long curly hair. She gave you a polite smile before she nodded up at Beau.
“You ready to go?” she asked.
“Ah, yep,” Beau nodded. He gave you an apologetic look. “Sorry, gotta get back to the station.”
“Oh, of course,” you said. But you held up a finger. “Wait, just a sec.”
You hastened back over to the table of confections from brunch and offered them a chocolate chip muffin each for the road. Cassie politely declined, but Beau gladly took his.
“Although, are you trying to stereotype me or somethin’?” he teased.
Your brows furrowed in confusion, but after a moment, it hit you. You’d just given a cop a baked good.
“At least it wasn’t a donut,” you quipped, despite your embarrassment. Beau still looked bemused, but he let you off the hook.
“That’s okay. I’ve never been known to turn down free food,” he assured.
“He really doesn’t,” Cassie confirmed. You noticed how she was waiting, arms crossed.
“Well, there you go! Sorry for keeping you,” you said.
“Not at all, darlin’,” said Beau. His smile had a charming gleam. “Nice to meet you.”
You quirked a smile back. “Wow, you are from Texas.”
You didn’t think you’d ever been called darlin’ in your life.
Beau’s good humor shifted into slight embarrassment himself.
“Sorry. I’ve been told to stop doing that,” he said. When he chuckled, you did along with him. You weren’t offended by it, just surprised by the old-fashioned endearment.
“It’s okay,” you said. “Nice to meet you too, Sheriff.”
You raised a hand in goodbye, and Beau returned it, watching you go. Meanwhile, Cassie watched him with a small smirk. He stepped down from the short platform in front of Emily’s tent to meet her.
“Were you just checking out Glamper Girl? In front of your daughter, no less,” Cassie remarked.
Beau shot her a look of denial. “I did no such thing. I’m a professional. And a gentleman, mind you.”
Cassie rose a brow at him. It stirred up a bit of his defensiveness.
“But, I’ll have you know that Em had already moved on when I had a friendly conversation with the glamper,” he said.
Cassie rolled her eyes. Right.
Tumblr media
That afternoon, you decided to bring your sketchpad and your modest collection of paints to the lake. You sat on the bank and tried to paint, while Mary joined the others in swimming.
“That looks nice,” Emily’s voice startled you from behind.
You twisted to look at her, and she gave you an apologetic look. She was dressed to go for a swim in a one-piece bathing suit and some shorts. She seemed more of a conservative dresser than typical high school girls her age. Maybe that had something to do with a policeman being her father, or maybe that was just her personality.
“Sorry,” she said, raising her hands.
“It’s okay.” You waved it off and gestured for her to sit beside you if she wanted. She did so, admiring your work over your shoulder. You felt a little embarrassed by it, but you didn’t mind her watching you try to paint ripples of light on the water.
“Are you an artist?” she asked.
You shot her a smile. “You’re very sweet, but no. I just started this year.”
You’d just Googled some therapeutic techniques instead of, you know, going to therapy. You just knew that if you did, your aunt would probably tell your parents, who would never let you hear the end of it. Specifically, why it was a waste of time. Your father especially would have something to say.
But one of the sources you found suggested trying out some creative outlets to calm the mind and think productively, but not create more stress for yourself. You’d tried a few different things, but landed on painting. It was working for you so far, even if you didn’t think you were that good.
“How do you like Montana so far?” you asked your companion. “Your dad told me you guys just moved here too, a few months ago.”
“Yeah, when my mom got remarried, my dad moved to stay close to me,” Emily explained.
Your brows raised. Your painting hand paused with the brush near the page.
“Well, that’s a good father,” you said. You smiled at the thought of Beau Arlen. The way he hugged his daughter before, like she was his entire world, and the fact that he’d moved entire states just to stay with her, told you a great deal about the town’s new sheriff.
Emily nodded, but her lips were pressed. “He’s a bit overprotective.”
“Well, he is a cop,” You said, smiling. “I assume that’s just part of the package.”
“I get that,” she said. “It’s just…a bit much sometimes.”
You gave her a sympathetic look. “I understand. My dad can be like that too. He’s got his soft moments, but he can be a real tough nut too… He’s a retired fireman.”
“Wow, that’s cool,” Emily said. She looked impressed. “Did you ever want to be a firefighter?”
You chuckled. “No, and he never wanted me to. It just wasn’t my beat, anyway.”
In the many years before your father had risen in the ranks to firehouse chief, your mother had often worried about him when he was on shift. Being a firefighter in inner-city Chicago had brought some hard and dangerous calls.
But you had always been more bookish, and both your parents were grateful for that.
You sighed. Your paintbrush made a stroke of deep green on the page, creating darker shades in the bottom of the lake.
“I did end up dating one though. Almost married him too,” you muttered, before you could stop yourself. You forgot you were talking to an insatiably curious girl.
“Really? What happened?” she asked. You looked over at her, and she was staring at you with her full attention. You remembered then that her podcast was supposed to be about relationships, but you had no desire to be a subject.
“It didn’t work out,” you said at last, and with difficulty.
“Why?” Emily asked.
Your internal struggle kept you quiet. It gave time for Emily to really see the withdrawn, almost pained look on your face, the slight hunch of your shoulders. She deflated guiltily.
“Uh, sorry,” she said.
You offered a small smile. “It’s okay, honey.”
“I’ll uh, just let you get back to painting,” she said. You waved her goodbye after she got up and left, giving you one last look before she joined her stepfather in the lake.
You let out a deep breath. The teen was tenacious, and naturally curious. That in itself wasn’t such a bad thing. But as you watched her splash at Avery, laughing that weightless laugh that kids got to have, you realized how much you missed being that young and free in your heart.
Again, out of habit, you set down your brush and rubbed at your empty left ring finger.
Tumblr media
Mary finally joined you back in your shared tent after a long night of socializing by the fire. You had kept to the tent, reading Much Ado About Nothing for one of your classes that would start in the fall. It wasn’t your first time reading the Shakespeare play, by any means, but you did want to brush up on it.
“You know, you’re actually supposed to be vacationing on this vacation,” Mary pointed out. She started changing into her pajamas for bed. You were already cozy in one of your old college hoodies and some shorts, not to mention snuggled under the warm blankets.
“I am,” you said defensively. “I hiked, I painted, I ate no less than one burger, a basket of fries, and three smores, and now I’m reading.”
“Yeah, for school,” she pointed out. “I may not be as smart as you, but I know homework when I see it.”
You shot her a smile. “You’re plenty smart, M.”
She snorted and slipped into bed beside you. It felt like the sleepovers you two used to have in college, years ago, when she’d come to crash in your dorm, or you in hers. She’d been a philosophy major (despite not giving two shits about Socrates), forced to attend college by her parents. You were an English major, working three part-time jobs just to get you through until graduation.
“Hey,” she said, laying a hand on your shoulder. You turned to her in question. She seemed more serious than usual.
“I’m worried about you,” she said. “And I’m not the only one.”
You sighed. Lowering your book, you leaned back against your pillows and stared up at the tent’s fairy lights.
“I know,” you replied. “But you don’t need to be.”
“Yeah you keep saying that, but you know the real reason I’m here, right?” Mary asked. Her insistent hand on your arm made you meet her eyes.
“You don’t have to do this," she said. "You don’t have to move out here and leave everything behind. You should just come home with me. Your parents, our friends—everyone wants to be there for you, like we have all year.”
Your lips pursed, and you shook your head.
“I’m not going to change my mind. So if that’s really why you’re here, and not to just spend some time with me, as my friend, then you should just go home,” you said. “I’ll leave here and go to my aunt’s house. I’m sure your parents can negotiate some kind of refund.”
Mary got angry and huffy, just like you thought she would. You weren’t playing around though. This was your life, and your decision.
If your friends and your family couldn’t be happy for you, or at least understanding, then they could at least respect you. You just weren’t sure when they’d get the hint that this was real.
You were moving to Montana, permanently.
Tumblr media
On the drive back into town from the camping site, Beau ate his chocolate chip muffin and tried his best to listen to Cassie—to her theories on where the backpacker might’ve gone, and how best to tell the parents to keep her on this investigation.
A good part of him was still thinking about his daughter, wishing he could be there with her right now.
And maybe, his mind occasionally wandered…thinking about the pretty shade of your eyes when you smiled at him.

AN: And there we have it, Part 1 of a new series! If you liked it, please let me know! 🥰
And a special Happy Birthday to @jackles010378! 💖 I was going to say we're both Aries (mine is next month) but forgot Pisces comes first lol. ♓
Next Time:
The trees were tall and dark now. The moon was filtering through them like the sun had during other day hikes, but it was much more ominous at night.
“Shit,” you muttered. You gripped your flashlight in worry as panic started to well up in your chest.
Now you were lost.
You jumped with a start when the hoot of a bird passed by overhead.
Shiiiit. This was very bad.
You kept moving forward on what you thought was the trail. That was all you could do, keep moving forward. You made a few turns around some trees, occasionally calling out for Sunny, or Mary, or anyone to hear you.

Nsfw maybe?
Let's say Mc (short/tiny) wears Ro's shirt/hoodie. With nothing underneath...Also lets say it's after Mc got out of the shower and the Ro's just came home.
So how would the Ro's act/feel?
🤭👉👈
(Hello! I answered a similar ask quite some time ago so I'll link that here. But it also didn't specify the MC not wearing anything underneath so this might be a bit raunchier, haha.)
S: As always, the first thing S does after coming home from a long work day is look for you. They enter the bedroom with a greeting resting on their tongue, but before they can utter a word, they see you. You are sat at their desk, wearing a shirt they know to be there, your leg propped up temptingly onto their desk, revealing the bare skin underneath.
S gulps. Loudly.
They attempt to cover up their flustered state with a slight cough and a smirk. "Stay right where you are, darling," they command, slowly unfastening their tie or shirt. "There are consequences for intruding on one's space. My desk is off limits; now we will have to test its endurability."
Rain: Rain trips over their feet as soon as they spot you. You are laid on the couch, temptingly buried in their favourite shirt. They instinctively take a step forward, bewitched by your allure. Once they step closer, however, they soon realise you are wearing nothing but their shirt. Their heart picks up the pace.
"MC... You have no idea the effect you are having on me right now." With some gusto, Rain jumps on the couch, barely catching their weight enough not to crush you. Their hands caress your sensitive skin, and you both start giggling as you wrestle for tickling dominance.
Taj: Taj comes home grumbling. So, nothing new. But they are so busy bitching about what S or Rain had decided to do that day they don't immediately notice... Then, they do. They whirl their head around when they catch the smooth expanse of bare skin in their periphery.
At first, they pretend not to care. So, you're a thief? Big deal. Do they like the way their hoodie is so oversized on you it almost looks like you are being embraced by them? A little. Are they going to let you know how fast their heart is beating right now? Absolutely not.
Instead, they wait for you to drop your guard. When you are no longer paying attention and looking a little crestfallen, they sneak up behind you. "I'll need this back, my little thief," they whisper directly into your ear.
Sensing an opportunity, you slowly pull at the hem as if readying yourself to remove the garment and return it, but slowly reveal the bare skin beneath instead.
Taj inhales sharply.
"Oh no you don't," they say, stilling your hand with theirs. "Not here. I'm not having Rain blunder in here and spoil this. Upstairs. Now."
N: N can sense the tension before they enter the room. They half expect to me chastised for some small slight as soon as they walk in. But that isn't what greets them. Instead, you are laid out, hair still wet, wearing nothing but one of their very translucent shirts.
"Oh, so it's that kind of tension," they whisper to themselves, a smirk slowly spreading across their lips. "Oh, look," they pantomime, gesturing exaggeratedly with their hands towards you. "A present left for me to unwrap. You shouldn't have, my dear."
They move closer, leaning over you with a hand on either side, trapping you between their arms. "But I am rather glad you did. Now, I'm going to take my very sweet time unwrapping you."
Umbra: It is rare enough for Umbra to be away from you long enough to conjure up any kind of surprise, but they have been getting better at offering you your space. But they are keen to be back at your side.
They fling open the front door, quickly scouring the room for you. "MC? I'm home!" You are waiting for them, leaning against the bedroom door frame, wearing their navy shirt and little else. When Umbra catches sight of you, smiling at them in a particularly demure way, their breath catches.
They stand frozen, their heart hammering in their chest quicker than they think it ever has. "MC... Can we go into the bedroom, now? I wish to create a new memory with you."

"Kate, I'm sorry!" It was the day of the concert, and Kate's friend America Chavez apologized over the phone for having to back out of their plans.
"I wish I could make it, but if I'm going to be anywhere near getting my doctorate soon, I have to go on this trip to Karma Taj with Dr. Strange." Kate rolled her eyes. A little playfully. A little annoyed. She bought tickets months ago to see one of her favorite bands, The Widow Bites, play at a local arena.
And she had confirmed beforehand with America so many times that she would still be going.
But leave to Chaevaz and her studies to make her bail.
"It's fine." Kate sighed into the phone. "Maybe I can sell the ticket or give it away or something." Money wasn't a problem for Kate, so it's not like she needed to sell the ticket.
"Promise me you'll still go!?" America pleaded over the phone. "I would hate for you to mope at your place all alone." Kate leans against the doorway to her kitchen.
She walks and talks whenever she gets on the phone.
"I don't mope," Kate said back defensively. "Kate," America replied. "You locked yourself in your room for two days when you found out the local ice cream place was closing."
"Well, it was unfair!"
"Kate, they found mice in the freezer!" Kate shrugged. "So! I know of a restaurant where the head chef is a rat!"
"Kate, for the last time, that's a movie, not a real place!" America sighed into the phone. "Look just please go to the concert! Have fun! They're your favorite band." Kate nodded into the phone. "Okay. I'll go. I'll go." She bounced off the doorframe. "By the way, I know the movie Ratatouille isn't real. It's animated. It's just based off a real story."
America didn't know whether Kate was joking, and she needed to get back to her studies, so she did what any friend would do and hung up.
"Hello? America?" Kate pulled the phone away from her ear and hummed as Kate's dog Lucky walked up with its leash in its mouth. "If only you could come with me," Kate said to the dog who tilted its head. "Ugh, what am I saying? You'd be the main star at the point, and the band wouldn't even come on stage!" Kate shakes her head at the golden retriever. "That's it, you're too cute. You can't come!"
Lucky dropped the leash from its mouth. Kate's eyes moved with it to the floor. "Alright. Alright. Damn. I'll take you out."
If the dog could roll its eyes, it would.
Regardless, a few hours later, Kate had arrived at the venue for the concert and was being directed by a security guard to her section.
Onto the floor.
Front row.
Well, she was supposed to be, but thanks to some last-minute outfit changes and the ability to yap on the phone with an old deaf man who had better things to do on his farm. She was late. Kate missed her early access sound check and the opportunity to be in the very front.
So, instead, she was a few rows behind.
Which didn't bum her out too much as the person standing beside her was a very attractive short blonde. The blonde wore an older cut-off band t-shirt, black jeans with holes cut into them, and black boots.
If Kate wasn't fruity before this should definitely would've bought an apple orchard.
"Hi," Kate said as she stood next to the woman who might be a few years older than her. The woman glances up and to her right before smiling. "Hi." The blonde said back with an accent.
Kate was drooling.
"I'm Kate," Kate said, sticking her hand out. Something she internally hated herself for. The blonde looked at the extended hand and Kate's face (and body) again before smiling as well and taking her hand to shake. "Hello, Kate. I'm Lena."
"Strong grip." Kate awkwardly chuckled before she and Lena let go. "I was- I was joking it was... It was fine! No good! The handshake was-" Kate stopped talking and turned away from the blonde. Hoping a sinkhole would open up and only take her as more people began to fill the room.
Kate was thankful that America and Lucky weren't here to see this.
However, Lena was fascinated with Kate.
"First time?" The blonde asked Kate, who wiped her ponytail and head around. "No, I've done it- I mean, shook hands before. Yes. I- I was just trying to make a joke earlier-" "Seeing the band?!" Lena clarified for everyone's benefit.
Kate shut her mouth before shaking her head. "I saw them two years ago in New Jersey." Lena's eyebrows shot up at that. "I was there too!" The blonde said, making Kate gasp. "Really!?" She questioned. "The show where Carol drummed so hard she broke the stick in half!?" Lena nodded and smiled. "It flew right over my head."
Kate remembers watching the stick fly into the audience from across the club. "Wow, that's insane!"
Lena nodded. "That place was smaller than here. I wonder how we didn't bump into each other." Lena said, eyeing up Kate once again.
Not that the younger woman noticed.
In fact, Kate shrugged. "I'm not sure, but we're here now." She said with a giant smile that Lena couldn't help but smile wide back at. "So, do you have a favorite song?" Kate asked as the place was about packed, making Lena scoot closer to Kate. Lena nodded as her eyes found Kate's. "Personally, I love Dinner & Vodka."
Kate gave a little bit of a surprised look at that. Not expecting Lena to pick a slow and acoustic song. "Wow, that's a good song! It deals with heavy themes." Lena nods. "Yeah, I cried the first time I heard it." She admits to Kate, making the taller woman give Lena an "awww."
Lena blushes and shakes her head. Kate smiles and leans closer. "So, do you believe the rumors that Natasha wrote that one for her sister as an apology for leaving her the second she turned 18?" Kate asks, not knowing that, yes, the rumor is true and she's talking to said sister.
Lena looks back at Kate. "Yeah, I believe it."
Kate nods. "Me too."
Kate glances around the room at the number of people, while Lena looks at Kate's side profile and inches herself closer. "What about you? What's your favorite song?" Lena asks, but before Kate can answer, the lights flash above the stage, making the crowd cheer and scream around them.
Kate's eyes go wide with excitement as she turns to face Lena. Who makes the same facial expression in return. But Kate doesn't forget the questions as she moves even closer to Lena. So close, in fact, that their arms are pressed against one another. "Honestly, I love all their songs, but for some reason..." She pauses as if scared to admit it. Lena throws up one of her eyebrows, waiting. "I think their cover of Heads Will Roll is my absolute favorite." Kate finally says with a shy smile.
The blonde looks at her with a large smile after hearing this. "That's hilarious." She says, making Kate's mouth drop. "Did you not hear me when I said I love all their songs?!" Lena laughs and nods. "I did! But I'm just saying I love that you love their covers so much!" Kate laughs because Lena's laugh is so damn infectious, and she looks cute when she scrunches her face.
"Oh man, Natasha is going to love that," Lena says as she turns back to face the stage. Kate, hearing that, tilts her head, confused, and looks to Lena to ask for clarification, but the roar from the crowd as the lights go out makes it impossible.
Kate spins her head towards the stage, and as the fog creeps in around the stage and the slow drumming from Carol starts thumping her body, Lena can't help but smile and watch Kate.
Especially when red lights come down and shine on each band member before Carol kicks it up and starts wailing on the drums as the lights go wild around them.
The crowd follows suit, and you'd be surprised to hear yourself think as they scream for The Widow Bites.
As the show rocks on and Kate watches her favorite band kick ass, she feels a hand grab her arm. It's Lena. "Yeah?!" She yells over the music as Lena scoots closer and rises on her tiptoes to yell into Kate's ear. "I'm going to grab a drink. Do you want anything?" Kate is a little taken aback by Lena's niceness and goes to shake her head to be polite, but she is severely thirsty. "A water, if you don't mind."
Lena smile. "I'll be back."
With that, the blonde disappears, and she's gone for the remainder of the current song. And then the next one. And the next one. By the time the fourth song since Lena left begins to start, she is looking around, worried and panicked for her new hot friend.
Wait, who said hot? Did you say hot?
"Here!" Kate snaps back and takes the water bottle from Lena as she holds it out to her and pushes her way back neck to Kate. "Dude, where did you go!?" Kate yells over the music, taking the after bottle from the blonde's green-painted fingernails. Lena hears the tone and smiles. "Were you worried about me?"
Kate pretends not to hear her over the music and turns back to the stage with pink on her cheeks.
Lena laughs and bumps Kate's shoulder, gathering her attention briefly. "Sorry, there was some drunk asshole at the merch line. I was going to surprise you with something, but I had to deal with the guy." Kate's eyes soften as she looks at Lena. "Oh!" She says, a little surprised and a little... she wouldn't know what word to use, but butterflies were definitely happening. "That's okay! And thank you! I was just making sure you were alright!" Lena smiled and laughed. "I'm alright." She says, looking into the taller girl's eyes before Natasha ends the song and starts talking to the crowd.
"You know, looking out into the crowd, I swear I see some familiar faces!" Natasha says as she walks from one end of the stage to the other. Her eyes quickly find her sisters before she looks at the taller person beside her. She hides a smirk and bites down the need to embarrass her sister while Kate's mouth drops at being looked at by THE NATASHA ROMANOV!
"She looked at me!" She squeals, making Lena laugh. "And you!" Kate says, grabbing Lena's arm and cheering for her. Lena's eyes look at the fingers gripping her before looking back up to Kate with a puppy dog look.
She was starting to become very down bad, barking at the gym or whatever that lyric was.
As Natasha starts talking to her bandmates about what song they should do next. (Even though it's all pre-planned.) Lena starts talking as Kate still has yet to let go of her arm. "You know..." Lena was enjoying Kate and her personality. She was cute and charming and had a smile that made Lena feel all the things. "I have an extra backstage pass for after the show... You can come if you want."
Kate looks to her left with a more than shocked expression before nodding furiously. "Yes! Yes! Oh my gosh!" Before Lena knows it Kate is crashing into her and wrapping her arms around her new best friend.
Ahh, the classic friends-to lovers.
Lena smiles and laughs as Kate squeezes her before the hug stops. "I don't know how I'll be able to thank you! I would take you out for ice cream, but my favorite place closed a while ago!" She yells over the music as the concert slowly fades into the background, and Lena and Kate only look at one another. "You don't need to thank me!" Lena tells her but secretly hopes that tonight won't be the last time she sees Kate.
Kate vibrated with happiness before turning back to the stage. Her arm was still wrapped around the blonde.
Lena slowly pulled her eyes from the side profile of Kate before she looked to the stage to see a smirking Natasha.
Lena makes a motion with her head that Natasha nods to, and later in the night, when they come back out for an encore, the band plays Kate's favorite.
"Oh my gosh!" Kate said louder than she meant to as she and Lena walked through a hallway after the show, towards the green room. The concert had made it hard for Kate to tell whether she was speaking normally or yelling.
Not that Lena minded.
As they walked through the hall, crew members and security nodded toward the blonde as she walked in front of Kate.
They all respected Natasha's younger sister and were always happy to have her come to shows.
"I can't believe this! Seriously, thank you!" Kate said as she sped up to stay step in step with the shorter woman. Lena looked up and over with a smile. "It's no problem."
"Still!" Kate said. "Backstage passes are like notoriously hard to get." Lena flicked her eyes up and nodded. "Yeah, but I have connections..."
Also, before you ask, it's not like Yelena Belova was hiding who she was or lying to Kate. She just got tired of people trying to get to her sister and the band and not knowing her.
But with Kate, she feels- she hopes it will be different.
However, the moment of truth is just around the corner.
"Fuck you!" Kate and Lena move flat against the wall as You and Wanda Maximoff come around the corner after another one of your fights.
Wanda swears she saw you flirting with someone while she was on stage, but after the millionth time of telling her it was an old friend of yours you were talking to, you got tired of it and wanted to leave. "When you want to apologize and make up, call me!" You shout as you groan and turn away from the brunette in a red corset.
Your eyes flash to Kate and then Yelena's as you go to walk away.
Wanda watches you, her girlfriend, leave and storm out the double doors at the end of the hallway before she turns to her friend and guest.
Kate swallows from watching what should have been a private interaction.
Wanda wipes her eyes before putting on a smile. "Hey." She says through a breath as she turns and puts an arm around Lena to hug her. "Sorry, you had to see that." Lena shrugs.
It wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last.
"Umm, Wanda, this is my friend Kate." Kate looks between a member of her favorite band and her new friend. She thinks she's dreaming and has no idea how the blonde knows the band.
And yet she steps forward and extends her hand to Wanda. "Hi Kate, I'm Wanda." Kate closes her eyes, embarrassed. "Sorry, you're Wanda. I'm Kate." She chuckles and opens her eyes to see Wanda laughing and Lena smiling. "I'm sorry, but how do you know each other?! Am I missing something? Also, I always thought you..." She points at Wanda. "Were with Natasha."
Lena makes a disgusted face while Wanda covers her mouth as she laughs. "Oh god, no!" She then crashes into Lena's side. "Looks like you got a WandaNat truther." Lena rolls her eyes and pushes Wanda away. She chuckles and moves back to Kate's side.
Lena bites her lip as Kate keeps her eyes on her, waiting for her other questions to be answered. "You don't really think my sister and Wanda got together, do you?"
Kate's mouth drops, shocked as the bomb drops. She puts a hand to her head and breathes, looking at a nervous Lena and a smiling Wanda.
After a few moments, she lightly laughs. "Well, NOW I don't think Wanda and Natasha slept together."
Once again, Lena makes a face of disgust.
Wanda laughs and senses a conversation needing to be had between the two younger women. "I'll go let your sister know you're here." She says, retreating back to the green room. Kate watches Wanda walk until she disappears around the corner before looking at the blonde beside her.
"You're Natasha's sister?!" She questions, making Lena nod. "Lena... Yelena..." Kate sighs. "That makes sense." Yelena nods, and Kate looks over her face.
She wants to question why Yelena didn't tell her, but she can figure it out. Celebrities and fame make people lie and hurt other people.
Kate scoots closer to Yelena as they stand against the hallway wall. Her shoulder bumping the blondes. "I get it. I get you not telling me." Yelena looks over to Kate and smiles a little bit. "I just..." Yelena starts. "Since Natasha and I have become close again, people don't want me..." Kate looks over with a sad smile forming on her face. "They either figure out who I am or know it before I know them, and then they try and use me."
"I didn't, and I wouldn't." Kate quietly says as she turns her body to Yelena's—the blonde nods. "I know. I knew from the moment I met you in the crowd." Yelena smiles, making Kate smile.
"You're different," Yelena whispers, forcing pink to rise on Kate's cheeks. "Sorry." She then says into the space between them, but Kate shakes her head. "No, don't be." She bites her lip. "I enjoyed tonight. With you. And I like hearing what you say..." She smiles, which turns slightly into a smirk.
Yelena feels like she can tell where this is going, but Natasha, Carol, and Wanda show up around the corner before anything can happen.
Kate and Yelena straighten themselves out and turn towards the trio.
Natasha ignores the sexual tension between Kate and Yelena and runs towards her sister to hug her tightly. "I thought you weren't going to make it tonight!" Yelena hugs her sister back and laughs. "Natasha, I always say that whenever you're in town, and I'm always joking."
Kate's ear pick that up. "You live in the city?" Kate questions Yelena, making everyone look in between her and Kate as Natasha exits the hug.
Yelena awkwardly nods. "I live and work in the city," Natasha smirks. "Looks like you two will have some fun talking later." She winks to her sister before moving forward to Kate. She clears her throat. "Thank you for coming to our show." Kate lifts her hand up as her eyes look over Natasha in steel-toe boots, fishnets, and black leather shorts that go well with her white crop top. Kate swallows before glancing towards Yelena and back. "It's to meet Yelena's sister." She smiles at Natasha as Carol nudges Wanda behind her. "Oh, she's good."
Wanda agrees. "Look at Yelena's smile... Oh, now she's looking at us."
Yelena shakes her head. "Yes, we can all hear you." Natasha nods and smiles at Kate, then Yelena, and back to the dark-haired woman. "Break her heart. I'll break your neck."
"Natalia!" Yelena exclaims, but that does nothing as Kate nods out of fear. She and Yelena aren't even dating as of this moment, but she still understands the message. "Go-got it."
Natasha smiles. "So, do you want a picture or anything before we head back to the green room? It's kind of an NDA space so no photos and video in the room."
Kate nods and pulls out her phone. Shaking it a little before Carol snatches it and looks Kate over. "Hmm. Ever been with a drummer?" She flirts, causing Wanda to push Carol. "You're married." Carol turns back. "Yes, but unlike you, Maria wouldn't mind."
"Both of you stop." Natasha takes the phone as the three of them surround Kate. Natasha holds up her arm, getting ready to take some selfies, but Kate looks to her left and right and doesn't see Yelena.
She then turns full all the way around to see Yelena looking extra small behind her. "Come on. I want a picture with you, too!" Kate laughs as she pulls Yelena forward in front of her.
"Oh great, now we can only see Yelena's head." Natasha jokes. "Ha ha ha." Yelena dryly speaks. "You sure missed your calling a comedian."
Kate smiles at the interaction between siblings before she looks up at the phone camera.
Yelena does the same and gets an idea.
"Natasha, now!" Yelena yells as she wraps her arms around Kate's waist and lifts her up to be seen. Everyone quickly moves with this plan, smiling and posing in a thousand different ways.
The picture of Kate laughing in her arms is still Yelena's favorite picture to this day.
And on the flip side, when they switched, the picture of Lena laughing in her arms is still Kate's favorite picture to this day.

Lotus Temple Tour, New Delhi
In the month of December, the Indian city of New Delhi saw the opening of The Lotus Temple, a Baha'i house of worship. It has become one of the city's most well-liked tourist attractions as a result of its likeness to a lotus flower. Like all other Baha'i Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple accepts visitors of any religion or none at all and has no further entry requirements. Some of the emperors established these temples for various purposes, while the majority did so to glorify themselves or their respective faiths. The Lotus temple, on the other hand, fulfills a completely different purpose. It is designed in the shape of a flower, which the majority of Indians see as a sacred symbol owing to its look. It serves as a symbol for everything Baha'i believers put their faith in. The Lotus Temple, one of the seven holy structures connected to the Baha'i faith, is located in New Delhi. Similar to other Baha'i temples, it has a circular, nine-sided design. The building is composed of 27 freestanding marble petals that are arranged to form the temple's nine sides. All Bahai Houses of Worship share the absence of altars and pulpits within, as is the case with the Lotus Temple. No sculptures, pictures, or other visuals of any type are present within. One of the most stunning features of the structure is the nine pools of water that surround the temple's petals.
Please don't hesitate to get in contact with one of our experienced Trip Counselors if you have any questions about the educational and cost-effective Lotus Temple trips we provide.

Can I request a bakugou x indian reader? (If you can do that!) Like him trying out the cuisine (not butter chicken and naan!), like, Pani puri, palak paneer, dal mahkni etc. him visiting all the mahals (tak mahal, hawa mahal), going to Varanasi ghats, etc? If you wanna that is!! No pressure!
(if you can't do this, can you just post this ask saying that you couldn't do it?)
Thank you!! Have a nice day/night!!
The summer sun bore down on the bustling streets of Jaipur, but Katsuki Bakugou barely noticed the heat. He was too focused on the excited glint in your eyes as you navigated the busy marketplace, guiding him through the sea of colors, sounds, and scents that overwhelmed his senses.
You had been planning this trip for months, eager to share a piece of your heritage with him. The initial resistance he showed had slowly melted away as he saw how much this meant to you. Now, he was here, ready to experience everything India had to offer—starting with the food.
"What's that?" Bakugou asked, eyeing a street vendor as they prepared something he had never seen before. You grinned, pulling him closer to the stall.
"Pani puri," you replied, watching his expression as the vendor filled the small, hollow puris with spicy tamarind water and potatoes. "It’s a popular street snack. You’re supposed to eat it in one bite."
Bakugou raised an eyebrow but didn’t back down. He took one puri, mimicking your actions as you showed him how to eat it properly. The moment it burst in his mouth, a rush of flavors hit him—spicy, tangy, a little sweet—all at once. It was a sensory overload, but not in a bad way.
"Not bad," he said after swallowing, his usual gruff tone softened by the appreciation for the unfamiliar flavors. "Could use a little more heat, though."
You laughed, knowing how much he loved spicy food. "Of course, you’d say that. But don’t worry, there’s plenty more for you to try."
The two of you spent the rest of the day exploring Jaipur, stopping every now and then to try another dish. You introduced him to palak paneer, a creamy spinach dish with cubes of soft paneer cheese, and dal makhani, a rich lentil stew that made even Bakugou pause as he savored the complex flavors. He grumbled about how different it was from the food back home, but you could tell he was enjoying himself.
Afterwards, you visited the Hawa Mahal, the iconic palace with its intricate pink façade. As you walked through its corridors, Bakugou marveled at the architecture—though he’d never admit it out loud. You pointed out the small windows, explaining how the royal women would watch the bustling streets below without being seen themselves.
"Kind of a weird design," he remarked, looking out at the city from one of the windows. "But it’s not bad."
You smiled, knowing that was probably the closest he’d get to admitting he found it impressive.
The next stop was the Taj Mahal. Even someone like Bakugou, who usually dismissed grand gestures, couldn’t help but be in awe of the sheer beauty of the mausoleum. The white marble seemed to glow under the sun, and the symmetry of the architecture was breathtaking. You told him the story behind it, how the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built it in memory of his beloved wife.
"That’s one hell of a way to honor someone," he said, his voice uncharacteristically soft as he looked up at the monument.
You nodded, watching his expression as he took it all in. It was moments like these that made you grateful to have him by your side. He might not always say the right things, but his actions showed how much he cared—how much he wanted to understand your world.
After the Taj Mahal, the two of you made your way to Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world. The ghats along the Ganges River were bustling with activity, and Bakugou watched in silent curiosity as people performed rituals, offering flowers and prayers to the sacred river.
"Why do they do that?" he asked, his voice low as he observed the scene before him.
You explained the significance of the Ganges, how it was believed to cleanse sins and how people came from all over India to bathe in its waters. You could see the gears turning in his head, trying to make sense of it all in his own way.
As the sun set, the two of you joined the crowd for the evening Aarti ceremony. The air was thick with the scent of incense, and the sound of bells and chanting filled the air. Bakugou stood close to you, his usually stern expression softened by the ethereal beauty of the ceremony. The flickering flames, the devotion in the air—it was all so different from anything he had ever experienced, and yet, he found himself drawn to it.
When the ceremony ended, you turned to him, wondering what he thought. He didn’t say anything at first, just looked at you with an intensity that made your heart skip a beat.
"You really love this place, don’t you?" he finally said, his voice uncharacteristically gentle.
You nodded, feeling a lump in your throat. "Yeah, I do."
He didn’t say anything else, just took your hand in his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. In that moment, you knew that he understood. He might not have the words to express it, but he was here, sharing this experience with you—and that was enough.
The rest of your trip was a whirlwind of experiences. You visited more temples, explored bustling markets, and sampled every kind of street food you could find. Bakugou’s initial hesitance melted away as he threw himself into the experience, trying everything you suggested with an open mind. You even caught him smiling more than once, though he’d deny it if you ever brought it up.
On your last day, the two of you found yourselves back in Varanasi, sitting by the ghats as the sun set over the Ganges. The air was cooler now, and a sense of peace settled over the city as the day came to a close.
"Thanks for bringing me here," Bakugou said suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence. "It’s…different from what I’m used to, but I’m glad I came."
You smiled, leaning your head on his shoulder. "I’m glad you came too. It wouldn’t have been the same without you."
He grunted in response, but you knew him well enough to recognize the affection behind the sound. The two of you sat there in silence, watching as the last rays of sunlight faded away, leaving the city bathed in the soft glow of twilight.
In that moment, you knew that this trip would stay with you forever—a memory of a shared experience that brought the two of you even closer together. No matter where your adventures took you next, you knew you’d always carry a piece of India with you—and you were grateful to have shared it with him.

Protect me, from me
a/n: I'm not really proud of the end but I really want to upload something this month, and sorry for the lack of content
Tumblr media
*not my GIF*
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Fem!Reader
Summary: One year after the event at Kamar Taj, Wanda lost her memories but somewhere in her mind the scarlet witch is ready to come back.
Type: a little angsty and fluff
Warning: taking place after MoM; me trying to write a panic attack
word count: 3704
----------
After all the mess she made with America, Wanda decided to close and destroy the Darkhold to protect everyone. She was there alone when everything started to fall on her, but when she was about to get hit by a stone, she woke up from a bad dream.
The Sokovian opened her eyes quickly, and she started to pant. She looked around to make sure everything was just a dream. She got relaxed when she saw you asleep beside her. She looked at her phone: 2a.m. She sighed and moved to the bathroom. While she was washing her face because of the sweat, she felt something strange, like a presence. She turned around but didn't see anyone. She looked at the mirror again, but she saw them, just behind her. A woman who looked like her; the same hair, the same eyes, and the same face, but the only difference was her expression; she seemed sad and angry at the same time.
Wanda started to panic when a red aura started to emerge from the woman, but when she was about to scream, you entered the room visibly tired. "Hey babe, are you okay?" you asked with a sleepy voice.
The ginger head looked at you, then at the mirror, where the woman had already disappeared, before she looked at you again. "Yeah, it's just that—I had to pee," she replied, and you nodded. "Did I wake you up?" she asked.
"No, it's just that I couldn't find you near me, and I missed you." You said, taking steps toward her until you were close enough to kiss her. She smiled and kissed you back. You always had this power over her; every time she felt bad or anxious, you were always the only one who could help her. "Are you stressed about the party tonight?" you asked when you felt her a little off.
She shook her head. "No, it's just that...you know me and the crowd," she tried to explain.
"We're not obligated to go if you don't want to."
"Y/n, it's your dad's birthday, of course we have to go."
"Yes, but I can always tell him you're sick, and we will see him another day."
"Thank you, honey, but don't worry; I'm fine, I promise." She kissed your forehead. "Now come to sleep; you have to work in a few hours," she reminded you, and you groaned.
This afternoon, Wanda was just back from a little trip to the grocery store. She took time for herself before you came back from work. She played with your dog, Marcus; he loved her, and since you two started dating, he can almost guess every time Wanda is about to have a panic attack. Your girlfriend was reading a book on the couch before she fell asleep.
She opened her eyes, and she was in a house, somewhere she didn't know. She looked around; she called your name, but you didn't reply. She started to worry but decided to check out. When she left the house, everything was weird; the world was in black and white like an old TV show; some people were dressed like back in the 50s, some like in the 60s, etc.; nothing seemed logical. The redhead wanted to escape and find you, but she ran into a woman. This woman wasn't dressed like other characters, and something was strange; despite the black and white atmosphere, her eyes were glowing blue.
"Wanda? Why do you do that, Wanda?" The mysterious woman asked, but your girlfriend didn't understand.
She couldn't reply before a tall man appeared beside her and said, Wanda, I finally found you." She looked at him confused, and she remarked that he didn't look like a human. She wanted to run, but the man grabbed her arm and asked, "Where are you going? The boys need to be fed, and I can't do this alone." Boys? Wanda wondered who's boys.
"Excuse me, I think you're wrong. I don't know you," she replied, very anxious. She started to walk away, followed by the two strangers, when a voice called her—well,  not really her.
"This is her; it's the Scarlet Witch," a brunette woman said, pointing at Wanda. "It's you. You're the Scarlet Witch," she said, and she repeated it endlessly. Wanda started to feel panicked. She suddenly screamed and woke up. Everything seemed normal. Marcus was near her, visibly worried, and she patted him to let him know she was better now. She made her way to the kitchen to prepare herself a cup of tea, but she noticed something strange. Every piece of furniture in the room turned red. She rubbed her eyes to be sure she was still dreaming, but nothing changed.
She grabbed a mug and examined it before she heard the front. She came back to her senses and went to greet you, but when she was in front of you, the mug in her hand turned white again. "Hey babe, how was your day?" you asked, approaching her. You wanted to hug her, but you noticed what she had in her hand: "Wands, honey, are you alright?"
She turned her attention to you. "Yeah, it's just that I'm distracted." she replied. She didn't know why she didn't tell you the truth; maybe because she thought it was too unrealistic and you would never believe her. Honestly,  it's understandable. It's pretty weird to say to your girlfriend that you had a weird dream where someone called you a witch, and after that, when you woke up, all her kitchen furniture turned a bright red.
"If you don't feel good, we can cancel for tonight." You proposed, but she shook her head.
"No, don't worry. And honestly, I think it will be great to see your dad."
"Okay... I'll take a shower, and we can watch a movie if you want; we still have a lot of time before tonight."
"It's an excellent idea; I'll choose the movie and prepare the snack; go get a shower." She kissed you, and you made your way to your bedroom. The Sokovian took a deep breath and started to make her way to the kitchen again. Surprisingly, nothing weird happened again this afternoon, at least until you started to prepare for the party.
You left the bedroom just to check that everything was okay for Marcus. Wanda was alone in the bedroom. She opened the wardrobe and picked out a dress, but in front of the mirror, the dress turned into a scarlet one. Your girlfriend started to be scared; she threw the dress away and took another one, but the same thing happened.
After the fourth one, she just sat on the bed, and her breath started to be erratic. She knew that she was having a panic attack, but she couldn't do anything to stop it. Thankfully for her, you entered the room just as it started, and you noticed her on the bed. You didn't think twice before sitting beside her and taking her face between your hands.
"Hey Wands, babe, follow my breath...breathe in....and breathe out." You instructed her, but when she didn't follow you, you started to worry. You pushed your forehead against hers and waited until she noticed your presence. "Hey honey, can you hear me?" you asked, and she nodded. "Okay, I need you to follow my breath; can you please do that for me?" You waited until she gave physics replies to continue, "Great, breathe in...breathe out." You instructed again, and when she did, you repeated it until she came back to her senses.
"I'm sorry," Wanda said, and you frowned your eyebrows.
"What are you apologizing for?"
"Because you're tired because of the week, and I won't help you by having a panic attack now."
"Hey, look at me." You raised her head and made her look at you. "It's not your fault, okay?  You don't have to be sorry for something you can't control." You reassured her, but she started to cry.
"I know, but it's been a year now, and I can't help but feel like a burden for you. I know you have to work hard for the company, and I still can't remember everything about before we met," she said, and you hugged her.
"Hey, it's okay; doctor Martins said it will take some time." You reminded her.
"Yes, but it's been ONE YEAR!" she snapped, getting away from your touch. "My memories should be back now, but instead of that, I just get fucking bad dreams and anxiety." You didn't say anything; you knew she needed it. "I–I don't know what to do." She sat on the bed, and some tears started to fall from her eyes.
You approached her carefully and sat next to her. When she didn't say anything, you pulled her close to you and ran a hand through her hair.
"I feel like I haven't made any progress." She sobbed, "Sometimes I'm wondering why you're still with someone useless like me." another sob.
You shushed her and still tried to calm her. "You're not useless. Yes, your memories take some time to come back, but like the doctor said, you can't rush things." You reminded her, and you gently cupped her cheeks before leaving a lot of kisses on her face. "And if I'm still with someone incredible like you, it is because I love you." You said, and she smiled.
"Thank you." She whispered.
"Always."
"Do you think we still have time to arrive at time?"
"Definitely not, but I know my dad doesn't mind." You said, standing up, "Are you sure you want to go?" You asked her, and she nodded. "Ok great."
"But... can you pick a nice dress for me, please?" She asked shyly, definitely not ready to repeat what happened earlier. You thought a little about it before agreeing.
The ride to the party was relaxing for Wanda; you spent the time talking about any little things that happened to you at work. It was distracting her from her thoughts. At the party, everyone was happy to finally see the both of you. With your girlfriend's hand in yours, you made your way to your dad and mom, who were relieved to know you could come.
"Happy birthday, dad!" You greeted him excitedly, and he matched your enthusiasm by giving you a crushing hug before giving another one to the Sokovian.
"Happy birthday, Mr. Y/l/n. We bought you something; I know you said you didn't want anything, but I really insisted." Wanda said, and your dad smiled and accepted her present.
"You really didn't have to." He replied, he wanted to talk more with her, but some coworkers came and brought him and you to see some potential new investors, leaving Wanda alone with your mom.
"Even at his birthday party, they talked about work." Your mom sighed, visibly angry, making your girlfriend laughed.
"You know how they are." She commented.
"Yes unfortunately." Your mom took a moment to make sure you were okay before she spoke again. "And I also know that you don't really like crowded places. So do you want to come with me on the rooftop?" She proposed, and the brunette accepted.
They talked for a moment before your mom had to take a call, leaving the Sokovian alone with her thoughts and a beautiful view of the city. She decided to come back to the party when her phone rang. She examined the number, but it didn't remind her of anything. With a nervous feeling, she picked up.
"Hello?" She asked nervously, and she waited a moment until someone replied.
"Oh sorry, hello. Wanda Maximoff, right?" The woman replied.
"Yes… and you are?"
"My name's Maria Hill. I worked for the SHIELD; I heard about what happened to you, and it took me a long time to find you." The woman called Maria declared.
"And how do you know me?"
"I…well we worked together in the past."
"Were you an Avengers?"
"No, but I worked with them too."
"Okay, and how can I help you?"
"To be honest, I'll help you."
"Sorry?"
"I learned what happened to you about your amnesia, and I can help you." Wanda didn't hear the end of her sentence when you walked on the rooftop. "Wanda, are you here?"
"Uh, I'll call you back." She said before hanging out.
"Hey babe, are you okay?" You asked a little concerned when you heard her rush to end the phone call.
"Yes, of course."
"Sure?"
"Yeah, don't worry." She kissed your forehead "so why are you here?"
"It's time for the cake." You announced.
"Already?"
"Yeah, come on." You grabbed her hand and dragged her into the elevator. While you were joining the party, you didn't stop to be touchy with the Sokovian, some caresses, compliments, and a lot of kisses.
Back at home later that night, you were both tired and ready for bed. Wanda felt an anger growing deep in her mind after the call with this Maria, but she didn't know why. Fortunately for her, this feeling was quickly forgotten when she started to fall asleep on top of you.
---------
In an apartment not so far from your home, a strange group was finishing some details for their operation.
"Are you sure about that? I mean, she doesn't seem dangerous; maybe we can let her live her life for now." Kate proposed.
"She doesn't remember being the Scarlet Witch; if we wait more and her memories come back, her powers will too, and it'll be too late." Maria explained.
"Okay, she's finally back, but she's not alone." Doctor Strange said coming back from wherever he was.
"Don't worry, we planned that." The older brunette said.
"Great, but I have a question." The sorcerer said, and the agent nodded to let him know that she was listening. "Why do we have to bring those two?" He asked pointed Kate and Yelena.
"Because the world still needs heroes, and after our losses, they were the only ones available." She explained.
"Not me. I'm here because Kate Bishop is still reckless." The Russian said.
"And who's the person with Wanda?" The archer asked.
The ancient agent tapped something on her iPad before she showed it to them. "Y/n Y/l/n. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Y/l/n. She's the future CEO of Y/l/n Corp." She introduced you.
Yelena examined your profile a moment before Strange spoke "Why don't we know her birthday?" He asked.
"She got adopted when she was little, but we don't really know anything about that or her biological parents."
"That's because they're dead." The blonde said, gaining everyone's attention. "Y/n is from the red room; she never knew her parents; they both get mysteriously killed a few weeks after her birth. Dreykov sent an old widow to bring her to the red room." She explained.
"But what is she doing here?" Kate asked.
"When she was ten, she was sent on a mission with a group of older widows, but only two of them came back, and Y/n wasn't with them. She was the only person I could call my friend in this place. The widow told Dreykov that she was killed in the mission, but when I grew up, she revealed to me that she and the other widow found her a new place far from our nightmare. Dreykov decided to trust them because she wasn't one of the best."
There was a little silence; everybody was processing what the blonde said.
"Wow." Kate finally broke the atmosphere: "But wait, you didn't try to find her when you learned that she wasn't dead?"
"I tried, but the widows who helped her disappear were pretty good at erasing all their traces."
"Sorry to break this moment, but we need to go now." Maria said, and the girls nodded before following her out of the apartment.
--------
Wanda was sleeping, peacefully dreaming about a future with you, when a voice appeared out of nowhere. 'Wake up. Wake up, they are here.' the voice repeated. At first, it was low, but with time, the voice became louder, and she finally woke up from her dream.
She took a moment to look around her and make sure you were still sleeping, then she heard voices from outside of the house. They were whispering something, but she couldn't understand what they said. She made her way to the front door and looked through the pipe hole. She saw three shapes moving and stopping in front of the door. Something told her that they were not alone, and she took some steps back. When she did, she felt like someone was observing her from the roof.
Marcus sensed Wanda starting to be stressed and barked to gain her attention; at that, the women on the other side of the door stopped themselves. When the dog barked again, the Sokovian quickly tried to silence him.
"Hey little boy, stop. You don't want to wake up, mama, do you?" She asked, and being the good boy he was, Marcus stopped, but at this moment the previous anger that had been growing before she slept came back. The ginger head stood up in front of the door, and she didn't know how or why, she moved her hand, and a red aura started to form around the doorknob before the door opened alone.
Maria didn't have the time to process what happened before she got thrown away by a red fireball. The two other women looked at the scene, obviously surprised, before the widow got caught by Wanda's magic and got attracted to her.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" She asked Yelena after she pinned her against the nearest wall.
"Hey Wanda, let her go!" Kate tried to act firm, but the witch just chuckled.
"And who are you supposed to be?" She wanted to attack her, but her movement was restrained by some good magic ropes.
"Listen to me, Wanda; we're not here to harm you. We're just here to help you and bring you somewhere where some qualified people can help you." Strange said, appearing from the roof.
"You! I recognize you; you're—" She hadn't finished her sentence before you appeared from your bedroom with a gun pointed at the sorcerer.
"Get out of my house!" You yelled, and everybody looked at you.
"Y/n?" You looked at the one who called you; she seemed familiar, but you couldn't remember her name. "It's me; it's Yelena." She declared. You lowered your gun, clearly shocked.
"Yelena? But what are you doing here?" You asked.
"It's a funny story, but before that, I need you to tell her to let me go, please."
You made your way to Wanda with your gun still pointed at Strange. "Hey Wands, honey, you can let her go; she'd not hurt you, I promise." You said.
"I know, but I can't. I can't control this—" she suddenly felt on the ground with her hands around her head, screaming from pain.
You kneeled down beside her and tried to pull her into your arms, but a little scarlet barrier appeared around her body. All her memories, from Hydra to the incident at Kamar Taj, came back to her. She felt visibly tired on the ground.
While she was unconscious, you talked with the group, and they told you why they were here. They received orders to bring her to DC, where she would be put somewhere to make sure nothing like Kamar Taj happened again.
"I can't let you do that." You protested.
"Y/n, listen to me—" Maria tried to say but you cut her off.
"No, you'll listen to me. I found her last year when she was alone, she lost her memories and her hopes. I spent a lot of time trying to break her walls, I spent a lot of nights awake because she couldn't sleep. I was there for her when she needed someone. I falled for her okay, and you want me to give up everything because you want to imprison her again?" You scoffed "sorry but I think you need to leave." You stood up and walked to the front door to open it.
They all left, but not before Yelena gave you a last hug.
A few days later, Wanda didn't wake up from this night. It's started to worry you. This day, you just came back from work like always, and you made your way to the bedroom when you saw her, on her feet but with a strange outfit.
"Wanda?" Hearing her name, your girlfriend turned her attention to you, and before she could say anything, you were catching her between your arms. This feeling was very peaceful, but she pushed you away. "Babe?"
"I remember everything." She said, and you smiled.
"That's great, my love."
"No, it's not great." You frowned your eyebrows "I'm a monster, Y/n. I killed those people. I killed everyone." She said and started crying. You took some steps toward her and wrapped your arms around her waist.
"My love, look at me." You said firmly, but still carefully. It took a few seconds, but she did. "Tell me what happened."
After a few hours, Wand finished telling you everything about her and her past.
"Listen, you know who I am. I was straight with you even before we started dating. I also did a lot of things I'm not proud of, but look, things have changed since. I have a family, a great dog," you kissed her tenderly, "and a marvelous girlfriend. I don't care about your past; I wasn't there when all those things happened. But I'm here now, and trust me when I say that I'll still love you and be here for you." You gave her another kiss. "I love everything about you, Wanda Maximoff, even the flaws."
Now she was crying in your arms. She didn't notice, but she gained control over her powers, and her clothes changed to her usual ones.
"What did I do to deserve someone like you?" She asked through her sobs. "I love you."
"I know my love."
