“I need a real reason why we don't see as much Lucille as Elijah”

That’s exactly it, actually. Well, part of it anyway, that we literally don’t see her in the podcast as often.

With Elijah, he’s a lot more spotlighted as like… The Main Villain, The Cause Of Dramatic/Extreme Conflicts, which gives him automatic enjoyment points for being over-the-top and generally charismatic (he is a cult leader, after all, he has to be convincing and charismatic and seemingly likable somehow).

And he is very charming, I mean I liked him from the first time I heard him, when a friend had me listen to Episode 22 (I had no prior knowledge of this series, I went in blind). Lucille is described as a sort of stoic, serious, strict person, but Elijah?? He creepy, yes, but he’s also very flirtatious and his voice is supposed to sound smooth and calming and sickly-sweet.

Elijah is just some creepy man in the woods, there’s no relationship basis besides “Hey wtf is this weird man doing in the woods, get him away from me”, and he needs you to like him for his full manipulation to work, so he works harder to get that; Lucille already has authority, so she gets some kind of respect (from those who she needs respect from) anyway, she doesn’t have to try as hard, so she’s allowed to be “”bitchy”” (heavy quotes, obviously).

But hey, what do I know, I haven’t listened to the podcast in a long time.

It's the middle of the night which means it's time for me to gush about the Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue soundtrack.

I've very meh on the Engage soundtrack as a whole compared to other soundtracks in the series, but the tracks I do like are some of my favorites in the franchise. HOWEVER, literally the entire Fell Xenologue soundtrack is so fucking good.

First off, just from a general vibe standpoint I think it does a wonderful job at creating this very melancholic atmosphere that permeates this whole other world. There's also a distinct change in the instrumentation which differentiates this soundtrack from the rest of the Engage soundtrack.

Next, I just wanna talk about cool things I noticed in some of the tracks. Starting with the world map themes:

Both tracks start off very similar with the twinkling in the background and piano, but where Engage has a very consistent repeating phrase, the Xenologue has a more irregular thing going on where notes almost feel like they're missing or lagging playing on top of other notes. The both songs arrive at a transition (~0:30) where all the other instruments in the track come in. With Engage we have standard orchestral instruments like strings, winds, horns, etc, but for the Xenologue we get a sitar (something that sounds like one anyway) and another plucked string instrument that I can't quite place (I don't think it's a guitar because the timbre sounds different, but I could be wrong), with some electronic stuff in the background. After this transition both songs play their respective theme. In Engage's case it's a version of the main theme. In the Xenologue's case it's part of the Xenologue's theme. Then both tracks come back to a motif that is shared between them played with different instrumentation (Engage 1:24, Xenologue 1:22). At 2 minutes we get another melody change and this one is interesting, for Engage it's the main theme again, but for the Xenologue it's something else. I need to dive a little deeper for this one, but for now I can say that it's also a version of the main engage theme but likely reversed or otherwise changed in a way that makes it sound different.

Okay now I'd just like the shine some light on the Xenologue's main theme cuz holy shit it's gorgeous. I've been listening to this track on repeat since I beat the Xenologue earlier this year. I've been cracking my brain on this one for a while, but I think I can say for sure that it's not a version of the main engage theme. There's two main motifs that come up again and again. The first one right at the start (~0:07) and the second one at ~1:13, which is also in the world map theme above. I just aaaaaa idk what it is about this song but it pulls on my heart strings. I FEEL for Nel and Nil and their struggles as I listen to this song.

And the last track I will cover in this is the final boss theme from the Xenologue AND HOLY SHIT IF THIS ISN'T MY FAVORITE FIRE EMBLEM BOSS THEME FUCKING EVER. They squeezed not 1, not 2, not 3, BUT 4 THEMES IN THIS BAD BOY. We get this fun build up into the Fire Emblem series theme, much like the Engage final boss. Then, around 0:54 we get the fucking four hounds theme sprinkled in??? Y'all have no idea how much I POGGED when I heard that shit, especially with how they all join your team at that point AAAAAAA. THEN THE GRAND ENTRANCE FOR THE XENOLOGUE THEME AT 1:07, WHICH IS JUST AOUGHHH so tasty and beautifully arranged with the full orchestra. And of course we can't forget the Fire Emblem Engage theme sliding in there right behind the Xenologue theme at 2:06. Then back to the Xenologue theme once more with a small dash of vocals just for good measure. And then the masterpiece starts all over again. GOD, just the way this song is able to combine and overlay so many themes and motifs together in one song is amazing and I love this track SO MUCH.

Anyway please play the Fell Xenologue because all the music slaps. Thank you for reading my messy thoughts, I'm very passionate about this soundtrack.

post str hibiya is VERY different from how he started out. i mean. 10 year old timeloop…. he hasn't grown at all mentally like he has to process all this with his 12 year old brain, but going through all he did he just kinda looks at things rly differently now. not obsessed with hiyori, for one…. and she's also different to him. their relationship changes drastically bc now they both respect each other LOL listen i know im annoying with my codependent relationship headcanons but… eyes hibiya and hiyori

25: Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year? Describe one: I REcreated plenty of sims from a bunch of new fandom INSP gameplays, including: Bleach, The Old Guard, Critical Role, and Interview with the Vampire. I think my favorite has been Caduceus from Critical Role.

I had a lot of fun making him and his CC with all the mushrooms, and the lot I built for him, full of plants and stuff. So rarely do I indulge in High Fantasy, because it’s HARD to do fanciful gameplay--especially for MEN, since everything’s female-oriented in The Sims 3 communitty--unless I make the CC myself--which I hate doing. But I really wanted Caduceus in my game, so, alas.

I am contradicting this so hard because I'm literally drinking coffee right now but probably my caffeine addiction LOL cuz it doesn't do much for me and it makes it difficult for me to properly take my adhd meds in the morning cause I can't take them too soon after getting caffeine in my system. but I also never have the mental fortitude to deal with the withdrawal effects and I also do enjoy the ritual of having my morning cup of coffee and for Some Reason the idea of replacing it with decaf just doesn't hit the same...

HMMMM good question. I would say I do both bright striking colors and grungy dark stuff. when it comes to how I dress I mostly just dress like...someone's graphic tee straight gamer dude boyfriend LOL nothing as flashy as I'd like but I move towards utility more than anything else. but when it comes to the things I surround myself with I really like surreal bright cute-but-weird animal things with anime and cartoon influence. Also I haven't done it in a hot minute but I do like dyeing my hair blue I've been doing it since I was 16 I haven't been as good about it as I used to just cause it can be hard to maintain and I wouldn't mind going back to my natural hair color for a bit but for people who know me especially people who I've known for 10 years plus its definitely been a big part of my #brand even when I'm not actively keeping it up

yay i’ve been wanting to talk about these silly guys :D (also adding Sawyer in cuz he’s Dew’s best friend, just not his roomate)

i’ll start with personalities:

so Layla is just overall very silly but also extremely smart and a genuinely nice and caring person. she’s the embodiment of quirky weird girls but doesn’t let people’s negative opinions of her affect her life. she loves animals and nature, especially insects and plants (also frogs and cats). she also really likes astrology but idk what her star sign is cuz i haven’t figured out their birthdays yet. she likes watching cartoons and anime with Dew and Sir Bonkles. she’s also a programmer and video game developer i think, her and Hayden wanna make a game together :3

Layla’s pronouns are she/her, she’s 23, autistic (because i can’t write a neurotypical character for the life of me), shes trans, bi, and 5’4 (one inch taller than Dew HAHAHA)

Hayden is my blorbo i love him. he’s a super nice and playful person, often goofing around and trying to make his friends laugh and have fun. he’s very hyper a lot and def has golden retriever energy. he loves reptiles and will not stop talking about them to anyone who would listen (same) and spends lots of time with his snake Mars. he loves to play video games but also likes being active outside and plays some sports. he and layla are definitely the two extroverts of the group lols

alright so now their dynamics with each other and Dew:

Sawyer is Dew’s childhood best friend, they’ve been through everything together. Sawyer also has a crush on Dew, but has been too scared to tell him for years. after Dew’s parents died and he moved in with Layla and Hayden, he and Sawyer kinda started drifting further apart. this is because Sawyer didn’t know the other two that well, and she’s just a really socially awkward person and is scared talking to new people. also some other secret spoiler stuff i can’t say, but yeah.

Dew also likes Sawyer but he also likes Hayden and Layla (who are in a relationship) and is scared to tell any of them. i should also probably mention that they’re all polyamorous because i’m on the aroace spectrum and don’t know ANYTHING about romantic relationships, and monogamy just seems boring to me (/lh). so yeah Dew has a crush on all his friends but is a literal CHICKEN (they also like him back but don’t mention it to him. it’s also super obvious i mean Dew is a terrible liar).

You nervously looked out of the window as you, Mingi, and Jongho drove to the studio to meet up with Hongjoong.

You haven’t talked to him in a few days since the two of you kissed and you hope it’s not awkward. You don’t think it’s going to be but you never know until you’re in the same room as him.

“Y/n.. take a few breaths. It’ll be okay. I’ll try to be with you as much as possible, okay?” Mingi let one of his hands fall on your thigh as he squeezed it to comfort you.

“I would comfort you too but I don’t trust Mingi when he’s driving so…” Jongho pats you on the shoulder.

You’re ready to tell Mingi to just drop you off on the side of the street but before you were able to contemplate it any further, Mingi pulled into the parking lot. You look at Mingi with a pout, “Hey it’s okay. I’ll be with you as much as I can, yeah?”

Mingi had his arm wrapped around you as he led you to Hongjoong’s room. The door was opened and you took a deep breath as you walked in, “Hongjoong!”

With Mingi’s voice, Hongjoong turned around with a smile, “Mingi! It’s nice to see you again.” His eyes shifted to meet yours and you immediately looked away, “I’m glad you could make it, Y/n.”

You nodded with a soft smile as Hongjoong took you into a hug. Your arms wrap around him tightly and you almost don’t want to let go. It was only when Hongjoong rubs your side softly and whispers into your ear you feel at ease, “Hey, it’s okay. Seonghwa is gonna be late… and there’s no reason for us to be awkward, yeah?” Your grip on Hongjoong tightened before you nodded and pulled away.

You made your way to sit on the sofa as Jongho and Mingi sat with Hongjoong. You scrolled on your phone for a couple of minutes as you listened to the three of them talk softly about lyrics.

Right as you were about to all Mingi, the door opened. “Oh my God-” You immediately looked down to avoid all contact possible. When you look up, Seonghwa is standing in front of you and you immediately stand up, “Y/n! Nice to see you again.”

You let out an awkward laugh as you greet him. You were ready to bow but your entire body stiffens as Seonghwa pulls you into a hug. You let out a noise close to a squeak and Jongho laughs at your facial expressions, “Y-Yeah. Nice to- Nice to see you again.”

Hongjoong smiles at the two of you before leaning in to whisper in Mingi’s ear. You pull away from Seonghwa and your entire body is tingling. Seonghwa smiles at you and your heart feels like it’s about to fall out of your ass, “Mind if I sit with you?”

“Oh- uhh… nonono it’s okay. Here uh-” Everyone in the room watched you with amused expressions as you hurriedly grabbed your things to make room for Seonghwa.

“S’Okay. I don’t bite.” Seonghwa patted the seat next to him. You were still stand up as you looked around awkwardly. You immediately look towards Mingi and he looks as if he’s about to burst into tears from laughing so hard. He nods his head and you sit down while trying to hold in your laughter. You can’t believe this is happening.

You sat next to Seonghwa quietly as you looked down at your feet awkwardly. The three boys went back to talking so it was just you and Seonghwa. “So how did you meet them?”

You watched Seonghwa point to Jongho and Mingi. “Oh… we’ve been friends since we were little. I met Mingi when we were like 6 and then later we met Jongho when we were 8. I guess we’ve been friends since then so I’ve been here for their entire music career so…”

You look at the two of them with a smile and then back at Seonghwa, “That’s nice! I wish I had friends like that. The closest I have is Hongjoong over there, Yeosang, and Yunho. Do you know them?”

“Yeosang and Yunho?” Seonghwa nods, “Yeah. They’re both cool- I mean obviously I’ve never met them but…”

Seonghwa laughs softly but nods, “They are. I guess Hongjoong is too.”

“Hongjoong is! I think Hongjoong is really cool. Look at him… The way he dresses makes me jealous.” You pout but laugh soon after. You feel a large weight lift off of your shoulders as you feel a lot more comfortable.

“Do you want to go get some coffee or like something to eat?”

You blink at Seonghwa for a couple of seconds, “Like right now?”

“Yeah, Come on.” Seonghwa flashes you a smile before patting your knee. You stand up and look at Mingi with wide eyes like you’re asking for him to save you, “Hey we’ll be right back. Do y’all want anything?”

“I do! Go ahead and get me and Jongho an Americano.” You nod at Mingi and Hongjoong agrees.

Seonghwa guides you out, “We can go to the coffee shop next door. It’s really good, we go there all the time.” You stay quiet as you follow closely behind Seonghwa. Once you get outside it’s extremely crowded and your eyes widen as you’re suddenly worried someone will see you out with Seonghwa.

You grabbed onto Seonghwa’s arm as people crowd around the two of you and cameras flash around you and in both of your faces. Seonghwa pulled you towards him before the two of you pushed into the shop.

You weren’t fully able to comprehend what happened until Seonghwa brushed you off, “Are- are you okay?! I didn’t expect- I’m sorry. Are you hurt?”

You looked at Seonghwa with wide eyes before you slowly shook your head, “No- no I’m okay. I just didn’t expect that…” You hurriedly let go of Seonhwa with an awkward laugh, “Sorry-”

“I’ll go ahead and order… do you want anything else?” You shook your head as Seonghwa went to order.

What the actual fuck is happening. Your out getting coffee with Seonghwa?? And got mobbed by crazy fans???

You move to sit down at one of the tables and you watch Seonghwa as he orders. He smiles brightly at you as he brings a sandwich, “Here you go. I know you said you didn’t want anything but we can share.”

You nod and look down as you try to hide an obnoxiously large smile. He hands you your coffee as well as he sits down in front of you. You take a bite of the Sandwich that Seonghwa handed to you before you choke with wide eyes as there’s a flash right in your face, “Did you- Did you just take a picture of me?!”

Seonghwa’s face mimics yours as he looks just as surprised, “Yeah- sorry. I-” Seonghwa laughs loudly, “I didn’t know the flash was on.”

Your hand flings on your mouth as you start laughing, “Oh my- I mean- It’s okay.” Seonghwa’s face flushed in embarrassment, “So uh… does that happen often?” you refer to the mob that was outside.

Seonghwa shakes his head, “No! And I’m really sorry that happened! This is the first time this has happened in like a good 6 months… whenever we go back just stay close.”

The two of you sit in comfortable silence before the rest of the drinks are finished. Seonghwa wraps his arm around your waist and you tense up. You hold onto Seonghwa tightly as the two of you leave the cafe.

Almost immediately cameras flashed in your face and people crowded around you and Seonghwa. You attempted to hide your face in Seonghwa’s arm as he pulls you closer to him. You can hardly focus on your surroundings because the only thing you can feel is Seonghwa’s touch.

Your eyes were squeezed shut and you let Seonghwa guide you before he whispered softly in your ear, “It’s okay. I got you. We’re almost there.”

Songhwa hurriedly types in the password before the two of you push it in. Neither of you let go of the other but you pull your head away from his side and clear your throat. His arm is still wrapped around your waist and you’re still gripping onto his shirt as the two of you walk back into the studio with the rest of the boys.

Once you walk in all eyes turn to you. Mingi and Jongho have big eyes and you look at them with even wider eyes. You pull away from Seonghwa and take the drinks from him, “Here you go.”

Mingi stands up and pulls you with him as he sits on the sofa. He pulls you on top of him to sit on his lap and wrap his arms around you. Hongjoong and Seonghwa watch the two of you for a minute before looking at Jongho with a puzzled look.

Your arm is wrapped around Mingi as he whispers in your ear, “What the fuck was that?”

“We got like mobbed- he’s a celebrity, remember?” You whisper back and Mingi pushes you gently as he rolls his eyes.

“You were getting mobbed on the entire walk back into the room?” Mingi raises his eyebrows at you.

“Well no… but- but like I don’t know?!” You and Mingi both burst out in laughter and you throw your head in his neck.

“What did I tell you? You and Seonghwa…” Mingi wiggles his eyebrows seductively as he makes a kissy face at you.

“Stop! I can‘t stand you! Now be quiet and what about you and him over there…” you tilt your head to Hongjoong as you exaggerate winks, “He’s nice isn’t he?”

“Bye- get off of me.” Mingi jokingly pushes you off of him before pulling you back into him, “I mean yeah but is he… ya know…”

You swallow harshly as the image of the two of you making out pops in your mind, “I don’t know? Maybe he- I‘ll find out for you.”

Mingi’s eyes go wide, “No!! Don’t like ask- I don’t want him to think I’m weird or anything!”

“Hey, Mingi-“ Jongho had called Mingi so you slid off of his lap. As Mingi moved, Seonghwa took the place next to you.

“Hey uh… I don’t mean to like jump to conclusions or anything but you and Mingi… are dating or…?” Seonghwa leans in close to you as he whispers.

You completely stop in your tracks as you look at Seonghwa with a puzzled expression, “Sorry?! Me and Mingi?” you literally laughed in his face, “No- I mean we joke with around but he’s- uh… we’re just friends.”

“Oh okay cuz it looked a little bit… yeah and then you and Hongjoong so I was a little confused.” Seonghwa’s eyes immediately widen and his mouth slightly parts.

You immediately turn to look at Hongjoong, “Right- me and Hongjoong… You know that was like nothing right? The heat of the moment and like we talked about it so like.” Your face gets hot and you stand up, “Hey uh, I have to go.”

“And you’re going to get home how?” Mingi raises his eyebrows at you.

“Seonghwa take her home.” Hongjoong pipes up and reaches for his keys in his pocket.

“Nonono it’s okay. I can call someone…” You attempt to stop Hongjoong but he successfully gives his keys to Seonghwa. You stand awkwardly before you take Hongjoong and Mingi into a hug. You ruffle Jongho's hair before you and Seonghwa walkout.

Seonghwa guides you through the back door and the two of you go into Hongjoongs car, “I didn’t make you uncomfortable or anything, did I?”

You shake your head, “Nonono. I’m just tired. It’s nap time.”

Seonghwa laughs softly, “No I totally get that. Naps are my favorite. Um but I wanted to tell you that I’m having a party- hang out this weekend with a couple of friends and I wanted to know if you wanted to come? Mingi, Jongho, and the rest of your friends can come too, of course.”
