More Nutcracker AU!
Cast and explanations under the cut
Patton is our human (Clara's role) who was sent to the land of the Toys by Logan for the sake of breaking the princes' curses while they are trapped there.
Logan (not pictured, Drosselmeyer's role) was a member of the princes' court and fled to find someone who could help them. He transports himself and Patton to the land of Toys and is himself also a toy, cursed with the rest of their people once he returns.
Janus (not pictured) is the King of the Faeries, and the one who cursed the twins in order to punish the twins' father for stealing their magic sugarplum and causing the collapse of their whole world, leaving only Janus and Virgil to make it out of the magical carnage. He is angry and bitter. He regrets his decision but is too far lost to the bitterness and isolation of losing everything to reverse the spell. Perhaps a kind human can change his mind.
Roman was cursed to become leader of the dolls, turning him into the Nutcracker Prince, and he (like Remus) is puppeteered by Janus's curse so that when the twins see each other, they can't help but fight one another. Roman wants to stop fighting- he is exhausted and he's afraid if he fights too much he could kill Remus. The more he fights Remus, the more he is turned into an inanimate doll. Logan has a lot of trouble bringing him back to consciousness after a battle and it's getting harder and harder to do so.
Remus was cursed to become the Rat King, and unlike Roman he is flesh and blood and LOVES being King of the rats. He would stay this way if it weren't for fear that their fighting will get himself killed. Unlike Roman he is more and more flesh and blood rat by the day, and finds his mind wanders to less important things like food and digging through trash. He suspects the day his mind slips to his animal thoughts while fighting will be the day Roman kills him, and the day Roman becomes a fully non-sentient doll.
Virgil is the Sugarplum Faerie General to King Janus's court, and also his son. He has been acting as a go between secretly for the princes, but he cannot disobey his king according to faerie court law. The only interference he can manage is telling both sides the others' movements. He wants to help Patton break the spell.

i know i've said this before but i'm so tired of people acting like Patton is the general embodiment of morality. as if he is the personification of the legal justice system and everything he does must be good and fair™.
folks, Patton is Thomas's morality. remember what Virgil said in the Q&A episode?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this applies to all of the sides. every single one of them.
Remus wouldn't be the same for everyone, different people have different types of intrusive thoughts. Logan wouldn't be the same for everyone, different people have had different levels of education, different forms of intelligence and different applications of logic.
but the funny thing is, i never see people criticize the other sides for being too representative of their title. they don't reprimand Virgil for making Thomas anxious because that's his job. they don't bash Roman for being a perfectionist. but for some reason, people expect Patton to be a saint who does no wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it's emphasized so clearly in multiple episodes that the sides are the result of Thomas's upbringing specifically. Patton is simply the moral code that Thomas's parents and on a larger scale, society, had taught him.
“Patton was so accepting of Virgil but he couldn't accept Remus or Janus!”
yeah. because it's easier to deal with anxiety than it is to deal with intrusive thoughts. don't get me wrong, anxiety is definitely a serious issue. but Thomas's anxiety never went directly against his morals, if anything, Virgil's perspective aligned very much with Patton's. being anxious about say embarrassing yourself in public or not getting your work done in time is not as morally concerning as having thoughts about murdering your brother.
but Thomas, like many of us, grew up with no one to tell him what intrusive thoughts are or how to deal with them. when Patton was chastising Thomas for having these thoughts, that's just Thomas beating himself up over something he can't control.
the same goes for Janus. Patton had a hard time accepting Janus because Thomas had learned to always be selfless since when he was younger, and Janus was challenging that point of view. when Patton was pushing Thomas to be selfless, that's just Thomas pushing himself and feeling guilty at the thought of focusing on his own needs.
i feel like people think that Patton is actually Thomas's father figure or something. i understand if he reminds you of someone toxic in your life and it can be uncomfortable to watch. but while it's good to relate to the media you are consuming, it's also important to view things in context.
Patton is not a person, he's not an individual who has the freewill to do what he wants. he is only Thomas's morality and what his morals are heavily depends on what Thomas was taught and how he was raised.
Patton cannot control the morals that Thomas had learned. he can only try to implement them in Thomas's life and unless Thomas himself decides to unlearn some of the unhealthy ideals that he has internalized, Patton cannot go against his nature. he can only do what he has been programmed to do, with the knowledge that he has.

I don’t rlly know how canon the 5th year anniversary video is supposed to be-
But I still love the moceit dynamic in the video as I think it’s cute. Patton’s so legit excited to have his new buddy Janus around, they’re getting closer. Which as we can clearly see that in ‘into the unknown’ where they have little visits in the woods all the time and Janus is gay as hell singing to Patton. But anyways- Janus is like ‘mistook for a trash can’ or being sarcastic about his new friendship. Ohhh Janus YOOOOU are so obvious, trying to hide your genuine feelings.
Janus is you truly hated Patton, you’re petty enough to just do everything in your power to make him leave you tf alone. I’m ONTO YOUR GAY A** like Patton isn’t stupid, like people think, he’s very emotionally intelligent. I think if Janus was very obvious in ‘I don’t wanna be around you’ Patton would be able to get a hint, also cause Janus isn’t even a good liar if he wanted to be.
We saw at the end of redux Janus is particularly noticeably softer with Patton than any other side even before they started to become friends. Like could he be manipulating Patton for a higher goal? I guess. But he’s very obvious in his manipulation, plainly to where all the others can see, c!Thomas isn’t a good liar so Janus can’t be a good liar- Something about Janus’ interactions with Patton feel more genuine then like, his obvious fake flirting with Roman to get to his ego.
In conclusion, uhh Janus you’re gay for a father figure

i just don't get how anyone can say that patton is a good friend
when he's literally so fucking two-faced to every single side
like-
almost every compliment he gives logan is backhanded. and he pokes fun at logan in ways that completely target his insecurity with no remorse or apology.
he guilt trips roman to holy hell whenever he doesn't get his way, and basically turns roman into a pawn to control, disguising it as "father figure love", and he completely threw away his relationship with roman so he could get closer to janus.
he has nothing but good things to say when janus is around, but when he's not there, he doesn't try to defend him when the others lay in on him.
patton literally doesn't want remus to exist. he literally despises remus and does not think anything he has to say or contribute is of value.
and don't even get me started on virgil. he constantly uses infantilizaing to the point of degrading nicknames and still has not stopped, even though virgil expressed outright that he was uncomfortable. and he betrayed virgil's trust by prioritizing janus' feelings over roman's and his own.
i'm not saying patton is evil but he is a two-faced bitch. a friend to all is a friend to none. he is literally prioritizing LOOKING LIKE A GOOD FRIEND over actually BEING a good friend and it makes me so mad.
"but patton is so nice and everyone is shutting him out-" LITERALLY SHUT UP. nice is different than good, and the other sides are not "shutting him out" they are rightfully protecting their peace because they learned from experience that they CANNOT TRUST HIM.
patton needs to learn his lesson. he can't just switch up on friendships whenever it's convenient for him. friendship requires loyalty and trust.

Some more sanders sides headcanons because why not:
Roman and remus are both ambidextrous, but roman uses the left hand and remus prefers the right
Patton and roman have a nervous stutter, janus and logan ramble when pressed, and virgil and remus shut down when upset.
Patton has a very loud, dad-like sneeze. This has jumpscared virgil on multiple occasions, surprised logan when he's too focused or tired, and even startled himself on one occasion
Janus likes to paint his nails, but thinks they look bad/ruin his image. He wears the gloves to cover for it. Virgil knows, he used to paint them for him when he was a dark side.
While most things can put virgil on edge, crowds are most likely to make him more anxious
Janus knows when the sides are lying, virgil knows when others are scared and patton knows when they are hiding their emotions
Patton has taken to inviting janus over for ddr, who has taken it upon himself to bring remus along. The trio get along surprisingly well, and enjoy each other's company (in secret at least)
Patton knows alot of swear words/dirty jokes, but just censors himself because "a good father figment is no bad influence"
Logan frequently chides the others on their clumsiness, but has a record for bumping into furniture and tripping over himself when he gets too caught up in his work. This does not happen when he's reading a book, however, where he can dodge even a surprise attack from remus without losing his spot on the page
Virgil hisses as a warning, because he can/has/will bite. He learned this habit from remus, who bites without warning or reason

So I heard it’s Mother’s Day in the US, so in honour of that, here’s a very late and mildly unhinged analysis of what roles in the family the Sides claim in the 5th Anniversary video
Patton - “I’m the dad”
In the ‘traditional nuclear family’ (ew) the father is typically seen as the head of the household, the breadwinner, the one with authority. This reflects how Patton has always had a position of authority among the core sides, with Thomas often putting his say first and relying very heavily on his opinion. However, much like how the idea of the father being the head of the household is outdated and problematic, so is the position of authority Patton is put in, which we’ve already begun to see. It’s time Thomas puts less pressure on Patton. Maybe even go to the ‘other half’ of the couple…
Logan - “Why am I the mom? What gender roles are we pushing here?”
Most notably, he is the only one who does not choose his role in the family. Patton is the one to assign Logan the role of mom, while Logan’s own feelings and thoughts on the matter are ignored. This reflects the issues he’s been dealing with throughout recent episodes, being ignored and overlooked. The fact he is in the mom role furthers this, with again, in the ‘traditional nuclear family’ (ew) the mother’s work and suffering often being overlooked, because she is simply doing ‘what is expected’ of her.
Roman - “I’m the son, the hotshot, who’s only dream… is to be a star”
Being “the son” of among the ‘Light’ sides potentially links to Roman’s feelings of inferiority, believing he has less power in Thomas’ life compared to Patton and Logan - not surprising after POF. And his sad tone when talking about his dreams links to his feelings of being failure, both with the whole callback debacle and Thomas literally becoming a star, and just generally in his desire to be seen as Thomas’ hero.
Virgil - “I know you think I’m the son, but I’m not. I’ll be the gay emo cousin.”
Virgil immediately starts by separating himself from the rest of the core four, placing himself outside of the immediate family. This links to both his current strain against Patton, but also his insecurities after revealing himself as having once been a ‘Dark Side’. He no longer feels like he belongs with the ‘Light’ Sides, as was affirmed in the first episode of season 2. Rather, he puts himself in the immediate family of the other ‘Dark Sides’.
Remus - “I feel like I’m a fresh out of jail uncle.”
“Fresh out jail” equals new to the group. No one knows much about him or what exactly his deal is, since he hasn’t been around long. However, what they do know is he’s come from “jail” - aka, was repressed for being bad creativity. Therefore, they instantly have a negative bias against him and assume the worst.
Janus - “And I’m the sassy aunt. Who talks shit about everyone…”
Despite being ‘accepted’ by Thomas and opening up about his name at the end of POF, he still positions himself with the ‘Dark Sides’ and not the ‘Light’ ones. This could mean two things:
1) He has still not fully been accepted by Thomas,
Or 2) He doesn’t personally see himself as ‘with them’. Whether because he knows full well the ‘Light and Dark’ dichotomy is meaningless, or because he doesn’t trust them back, or because not all of the ‘Light’ sides accept him yet, we don’t know.
Him “talking shit about everyone” is also notable. He is the one who can see the problems among the core four, viewing them from the outside. He knows their weaknesses, struggles and issues - and he is going to make them apparent, so that they and Thomas can finally deal with them.
Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk.

Hear me out; the Sides in an Assassin!AU
Remus and Roman's father is in charge of a, fairly large, assassin group, having many killers under his employment and even having them live under the same roof. While there are other groups, they are nothing compared to what their father runs
When Remus and Roman were born, Roman got severely sick and their father worried that getting Roman involved in the family business would be too dangerous for him and had him stay at home with their mother while he raised Remus to take over the business when he's gone
Cue them many years later, their mother is retired and living in a lovely nursing home and their father has passed away due to sickness. Remus had already been running the place before his passing but is now officially in charge and on his own.
Now Roman is brought into the home of assassins since he has nowhere else to go and Remus, worried that his brother is going to end up getting killed in some way or another, puts one of his higher-ups, Virgil, in charge of training and guarding Roman
But, while all this is happening, Remus hides a secret relationship with Logan.
No one knows of the relationship except for Patton (or at least that's what Remus thinks since he's unaware of Patton discussing things with his own partner, Janus). Patton is the cook of the house, he's in charge of making the meals and keeping the kitchen organized and together for anyone to come in and get as they please.
Logan, on the other hand, is in charge of maintaining the order of paperwork, scheduling, and research. While he doesn't do it all on his own, he does a lot of it and insists on double-checking everything himself. Not that he doesn't believe the others can't do it, he just gets anxious if he's left unaware of anything.
Also, Logan's own father was part of the business as well and had died during a job and had made Remus and Roman's father promise to provide work for Logan since he feared Logan being hunted down. A fear that Remus now shares
and has good reason to

Corrupted Au Virgil🕷️🌩️
Trigger warning: arachnophobia, body horror, multiple eyes
This took 6 hours:’)
Tumblr media
Voodoo (name may be subject to change): Virgil doesn’t really remember his past life mainly due to his own repression of his memories he doesn’t WANT to remember. Deeply insecure about his new form, wants to be un-corrupted despite no longer remembering what that was even like. Virgil just knows this is wrong and trusts that Janus and Logan can help him fix this mess. He can see out of all of his “eyes” with varying degrees of quality but heavily relies on sound. He prefers the shadows and can actually be hurt by being in bright lights for too long.
Design: The spider jaw is based heavily off the Spider Demon Father from demon slayer. The perspective is wildly off but eh we’ll get em’ next time
His eyes are based off the puppet design he was given which I adore The hoodie is just his two hoodies stitched together
Why is he corrupted? The heck happened?:
Each side corrupted in a completely unique way and for a different reason. They are representations of concepts and those concepts warped and snapped. Virgil crumbled due to his lack of identity. His anxiety heightened as he was torn between who he is now and who he was then. Resulting in whatever he is now.
The sides are slowly corrupting more and more with Virgil, unfortunately, being a lot more corrupted then others taking on a lot of spider traits (Remus is technically the most corrupted)
The amount of lore I have written for this Au is concerning considering how little I’ve done with it. Up next will probs be Patton or Janus the leaders of the Light and Dark sides:0

Relationship Map for The Blood That Binds- A Sanders Sides X Vampire the Masquerade AU
There's a title now!!! From now on, posts under this project be titled and tagged with The Blood That Binds.
2 weeks ago I posted a poll asking if people would like to see Character Profiles or a Relationship Map first. The results showed a majority rule for the Relationship Map, which I am sharing today! But! I will be uploading the Character Profiles as well some time between now and the publishing of Chapter 1 (which I do still plan to release on Halloween).
Anyway, I've rambled enough- HERE'S THE MAP
Tumblr media
So I know this is an absolute mess to look at so let me further explain how it's set up. Each character has their own color (I am aware of the shade similarity between Patton/Logan and Roman/Thomas but I genuinely couldn't think what other colors to use). The symbols next to most characters are their Clan Symbol- which I will further explain in the Character Profiles.
Characters connected by solid lines have interacted directly at least once. Characters connected by arrows have not interacted, but will interact in the beginnings of the tale. Below the cut, I've included some further explanations of the relationships.
Patton and Virgil
This is the dynamic that made me want to write this story in the first place. In this AU, Patton is Virgil's biological father. Through a misfortune that will be explained later on, Patton became a vampire when Virgil was still a baby (late 90s). Virgil grew up in the city believing his father to have passed away, all while Patton has been silently observing him from the shadows. At the time where our story takes place, Virgil has returned to the city after a little over 6 years away. And Patton is going to have a totally normal and rational reaction to seeing his son again.
Roman and Thomas
I knew I wanted to toy around with the supernatural power dynamic of a Sire Bond. And I knew I wanted Thomas specifically to be someone's Sire. In the context of the story, Roman was once Thomas' love, and was given the gift of immortality as a means to stay together forever. Thomas himself was still quite new to vampirism, and he quickly grew to regret making Roman. In the modern day, Roman is more like a lackey to Thomas. Following his beck and call in hopes of earning his favor once again. It has been over 70 years, and still Roman very much has the desperate hero vibes about him.
Roman and Virgil
Roman has spotted Virgil, and where the story picks up, he's beginning to close in. The only issue is he can't decide what exactly he'll do once he gets close to Virgil. He could make him a mindless Blood Slave. He could string him out as a forlorn lover. He could recruit him to his vampiric faction, as either a Bonded Ghoul or a fledgling vampire. His decision will drastically reform the dynamics of all those around him. But he's a little too lovestruck to realize the potential damage he could cause.
Logan and Patton
A healthy relationship?? In my toxic vampire romance? Yes, actually. Logan found Patton as a terrified fledgling who'd been abandoned by his Sire. Having roughly two decades of vampiric knowledge to rely on, Logan was quick to lend his talents to guide Patton. It became rather apparent that Patton did not take well to vampirism, and Logan's levelheadedness eased him into his new existence. In the modern nights, the two are inseparable. This is mostly at Patton's request, as he begins to grow paranoid in Logan's absence.
Janus and Remus
Janus is power-hungry and Remus is easily controlled. Janus has a few years of seniority over Remus, which he is quick to remind him of. Remus is also the only character who is beginning the story already Blood Bound. He has been Janus' thrall for since the 80s, and after spending over 30 years unbound, he just feels grateful to be noticed. He thinks being close to Janus gets him closer to Roman gets him closer to the command and power he truly craves. He views his Bond as a necessary evil. Janus views it as a means of controlling a scary guard dog.
Janus and Thomas
These two are both members of the Inner Circle, a sort of Sect within the Sect of the Camarilla. Those in the Inner Circle often interact directly with the Prince of the city (or whoever is in command) as well as following out any jurisdiction placed by the Prince. Janus and Thomas entered the Camarilla at roughly the same time, as well as being welcomed to the Inner Circle during the same night of Elysium. Their specific roles within the inner circle will be explained later.
Janus has always viewed Thomas as a potential adversary, believing that their power and influence combined could be immensely beneficial to the Camarilla. Thomas, on the other hand, is extremely jealous of Janus. He believes that their parallel rise to power is building up to an ultimate showdown where one of them will be forced to overtake the other. And he does not intend for Janus to have the advantage.
Remus and Logan
Remus has a 20 year advantage on Logan. At the time of their meeting, they were both strays who were not bound to any vampiric Sect. Remus viewed Logan as a fellow outcast, someone with skill and poise that could prove a useful asset in his major goals. Logan viewed himself as superior to Remus, believing his pragmatic approach to vampirism made him more appealing. They had a messy breakup, to put it lightly, and neither of them have made any attempt to reconnect.
Roman and Remus
These two are still canonically twin brothers. There's a lot to explain, which I will cover in better detail in each of their Character Profiles. But to summarize here: Roman became a vampire first, and has believed Remus to have passed away after being deployed during WWII. However, Remus did return home after the war, and had heard whispers of his brother joining a "secret society". Efforts to find Roman ultimately lead to Remus becoming a vampire himself. Rather than wallow over what had become his fate, Remus has instead spent the last few decades working to use his abilities as a means of finding Roman and taking all that he is.
Characters who have NOT interacted together!
Patton and Roman
Logan and Roman
Logan and Janus
Janus and Patton
Janus and Roman
Remus and Patton
Remus and Thomas
Logan and Thomas
Virgil and EVERYBODY
I believe that covers everything for now. My goal is to have a Character Profile posted every Friday between now and Halloween, and then posting Chapter One on Halloween as a way to enjoy the spooky evening. As always, if you wish to be tagged in this project, reply on this post or send me a DM.
Tag List: @sethlost @thearomanticsnake
Above board for a moment, I do want to thank everyone who has been encouraging this story. It's been a long while since I've written any major works, and I'm really excited to be worldbuilding again. So just- thanks for the kind words and the sharing and the support. Its really means a lot <3

I took a break from petting my cat to deliver you this post, so I might as well deliver it as nicely as possible.
Sanders Sides are yet again drawing each other, this time, Virgil drawing everyone else!!
Yes, guys, gals and enby pals, we've reached "dark sides" territory!! It will be even angstier, you guessed correctly.
Tumblr media
Firstly, Patton!! I'm reintroducing the bullet points!
Yes, Virgil did draw him playing with puppets
Yes, Virgil did draw Patton manipulating his puppet
Yes, if you look closer, the look in Patton's face isn't that of a happy father but that of an OG manipulator.
(I need to prefix this by saying that I love Patton and his complexity and by no means am I attacking him)
But yes, Virgil has had enough, our poor little anxious baby needs his freedom (and his thunder) back!
Tumblr media
Rare Logan moment caught on camera!
Virgil drew him in his onesie because Logan is only comfortable enough to wear it around him and around no one else
He is indeed reading a puzzle book that Virgil (and Roman) came up with
You might wonder, why does Logan have a look of disdain in his eyes while reading this book?
Oh, he doesn't. For once, I'm bad at sketching
For twice, anxiety is anxiety. He was actually quite pleased to receive such gift, but with Logan having unreadable facial expressions and Virgil being Virgil, he took his expression as that of disdain.
I love them, your honour.
Tumblr media
Ah, hello there princey.
Don't ever make me draw side profiles, this took 30 mins and it's not even good.
Okay, real talk, Virgil did draw Roman in the middle of the latter saving someone (him)
And Virgil did draw Roman with flowers and his updated princely costume and all that.
However, it's fascinating to point out that our Prince is covered in vines. (no, not because Thomas used to be a viner, no)
But because something, someone, is holding Roman back.
And Virgil chose to portray it with green vines.
Hmmmmmm, nothing to see here folks.
Tumblr media
Remus in the house!!
Virgil is absolutely terrified by Remus.
So ofc he drew him with his mace!!
The schrodingers details are really popping off here.
And by that, I mean that it is both a pretty detailed sketch, and a very rushed through one.
Firstly, it's the first full body sketch we see from Virgil since Patton
Which emphasises the fact that he really knows Remus (the past doesn't go away that easily)
Secondly, it's the little ruffles on his sleeves, and high boots, and dirty knees that pull all of this together.
But I can't ignore that it's still rushed through. That Virgil hasn't grown to the point that he can accept Remus, or see him as something more than a scary illness.
Tumblr media
Janus and his oddly numbered strings.
Another detail that I'd like to bring to your attention right about now is, how both the dark sides are looking straight (gay) to the viewer (Virgil).
In antithesis to the "light" sides, that are looking at something or someone else.
But Janus' sketch is pretty self explanatory.
Virgil views him as a one of the worst sides who could dictate Thomas' life.
And not only is he part of the conversation now, but Virgil knows from personal experience, that he's keeping all the others at bay.
Tumblr media
Lastly, our Virgil!
I will pretend like I'll improve in drawing in the future if you pretend those are wings.
When I told you not to ever let me draw a side profile again i meant it.
Regardless, Virgil is doing his damn best to hold it together as of this moment
So, he's doing what the next side would do in his position: comfort himself with his safe space.
He's sitting down (on something that is somewhat a chair, good for him)
He is listening to music
He is grounding himself (by having his hands on the stool
But even so, his wings remain closed. Virgil can pretend all he wants that those momentary solutions will fix the problem, but it won't go away. He must learn to accept all of Thomas' sides.

Are there any headcannons you have on Raven poetry that didn't explicitly make it into the story?
I have so many that made it. Like Logan being afraid of mushrooms. Love was very lenient on me having my fun. Here's a list of mine and @lovelivingmydreams headcacons
• Emile is the top
• Spectra's ex did clean up his act after he got out of prison. He went from dishwasher to kitchen help to cook to shelf. Fell in love and started his own restaurant and got a song with a talent for singing who he raised to be a Good law abiding citizen. He probably had a heart attack when he caught sight of his son waiting on his ex girlfriend anf her chief of police husband.
• The first time Virgil's parrents kissed was after Spectra saved the cute cop from getting shot trying to protect her.
• We didn't elaborate much on the wedding. Virgil's dad gave him away and he officiated. He and Roman's dad both playgully threatened the guests to "forever hold their peace" Patton and Janus' puppy was the ringbearer. They had a big choreographed first dance cuz ever since the first masquerade they picked up ballroom dancing.
• Schockwave's funds did come from Mark's family, though they had no clue what he was really doing with it.
• The thing with the guy who looked like Roman's fake visage wasn't really mentioned I think. We had a bit of fun with lookalikes who were like " Wait, this is me! "
• The twins have adhd, Logan reads as authistic, patton also adhd, Virgil obviously has anxiety. I also read V as neurodivergent because of the no touching thing ( I have the consensual touching thing, it originally came from me but I'm not diagnosed so he also isn't)
• Logan worked with one of Romans classmates on some gossip column that he gathered with his animal spys( that we did mention). He also has a city wide network with homeless animals. He provides them medical care and food and they provide information. He has a bunch of gangs with their own territories like Red Dogs and Copper Rats.
• Logan can NOT live without gossip. You'd think Janus is the gossip queen, nope, it's Lo. Janus doesn't mind some good tea from time to time, Logan would do anything to get his fix
• At least once Zephyr said "dad" in casual civilian conversation and didn't mean his biological father
• Virgil calls his cats Nightmare and Abomination affectionately
• Prince was spotted in another city/country when V and Ro were on vacation
• V was saved by Ro's hero crush in another city when he was there for a job
• J and Pat would have a baby. Yay!
I think that's as far as I can say for now. There are things we want to keep to ourselves for a time, because it would be relevant to the other stories in the universe.

Concepts for an AU about the dark sides! I'll be writing a fic about these guys at a later date.
They're in a semi-modern fantasy universe where demons, fae, and such are known of phenomena but aren't treated well by society because of those ways of being.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Virgil was raised in a long family line of 7th-son-of-a-7th-sons, with the natural ability to see through the disguises and glamors other creatures put on. His father, Patton, trained him in the family way of being a bounty hunter that captures creatures for the people seeking them out. His pseudonym is 'Guide'. Virgil will come to find that this way of life is incredibly wrong. However, this is Virgil's first solo hunt without his father, his first time being alone and in full control, after so many years of being babied through their hunts. He cannot fuck this up.
Tumblr media
Remus is his current target and is terrible at blending in with humans for obvious reasons (i.e., weirdly proportioned anatomy, giant fucking tentacles). It was blamed for the murder of a man falsely when the town it lived in discovered it hiding there. Virgil was hired to hunt it down.
Tumblr media
Janus is the one hiding Remus. In fact, he's known very widely in the creature community for hiding other monsters with ease. Janus has the power of Persuasion. Humans tend to believe everything he says immediately once he speaks it. Only humans trained against fae deception tactics can even come close to breaking out of the hold his words have on people. Janus took on hiding Remus when hearing his story, and has been running him around several countries trying to shake Virgil's tailing of them. But Virgil is the most determined hunter he's ever met and that is.... fascinating to him.
(And yes they all fall in love and kiss by the end)

Patton was sitting in his room in front of the mirror, trying to make his light cyan hair look good, but it was too messy. He sighed, the reflection of his soft blue eyes staring at him from the mirror. "I hate this" he whispered. He sighed again and got up, going to his closet and taking out his favorite top, a baby blue vest with a white button-up. He put it on and grabbed his school bag and walked downstairs to get some breakfast.
There wasn't much to eat at home, even though the Mor family (which Patton was part of) had a lot of money. He decided to eat some overly-sugary cereal with lactose free milk (because he's lactose intolerant). When Patton finished eating, he could hear his father walk up the stairs. He quickly washed the dishes he used and placed them neatly on the dish rack. He checked the time, '8:10' was what the clock read. "You're late to school again." his father exclaimed as he entered the room. Patton started breathing heavily, scared of what his father might do. "I-i was just leaving!" He grabbed his bag and ran out the house before his father could do anything. He ran all the way to school, not wanting to be even more late.

Virgil was sitting in the back of the class with his small dagger shaped fidget, barely listening to the teacher. He was waiting for the break so he could hang out with his friends. He and his older brother, Logan, have recently moved into this city, and a group of students have accepted them in as one of their own. Virgil always doubted if they actually liked them or if it was just because they're new, but at least he'll make the most of it. After two long and boring math classes, it was finally break time. Virgil put all his stuff in his locker and grabbed his food from his bag. He ran to the back of the school, which was where the group always stayed while in there. Roman, Patton, and Remus were already sitting and chatting there. Virgil was hesitant to approach, not wanting to intrude. Then, he suddenly felt a hand touch his shoulder. He jumped and let out a squeak, turning around to see... His older brother, Logan!
"Lo.. don't ever do that again" he tried to sound intimidating but he was so much smaller than him. "What did you get?" Logan asked, pointing at Virgil's lunchbox. "Oh- umm, it's just some bread with a piece of cheese on it" Virgil answered. "You know, you need to eat more than that, Virg" Logan's tone seemed harsh, but Virgil knew Logan cared a lot about him. They both walked over to the group, and sat down next to them.
"Virgil! Logan!" Patton called, happy to see his friends. "Hello!" Remus called as well, only happy to see Logan. "Hi..!" Roman whispered quietly to Virgil, blushing slightly. "Hey, Roman.." Virgil responded, hoping his makeup hides his red face. "Ree, is that new?" Virgil asked, pointing at the collar on Remus' neck. "Why won't you ask your brother~?" Remus responded, making a flirty face to Logan. "Ew- you could've just said yes" Virgil wanted to throw up thinking about his brother and Roman's brother having... Adult times. Remus scoffed. "Has anyone seen Barry? We were supposed to study now but he's not responding to my texts." Logan quickly changed the topic. "Probably still asleep, he oversleeps constantly" Remus responded, taking out his bottle (that's full of some blue liquid that seems full of sugar) and taking a sip. Logan is disgusted by the drink, but moves on, "he's usually here by now..." he checks his phone's notifications again. "Ugh, why does it matter? We're having a conversation here now" Remus rolled his eyes.
There was silence for a few seconds, only the sounds of Patton's chocolate chip cookies in his mouth were heard. "Wassup nerds" Janus sat next to his younger brother, Patton, and placed his bag of oatmeal cookies besides him. "Good morning, Jan" Remus smiled. Virgil and Roman rolled their eyes, they both disliked Janus a bit too much. Janus flashed a sarcastic smile back at them both, raising the tension.
"hey, Remus, may i speak to you in private?" Logan asked, cutting the tension. "Ooo~" Remus smirked. "About a serious topic. Now." Logan hurried. "Alright alright" Remus got up, and Logan followed. They both walked inside the building, they were out of sight in a moment. "Well.... Uh, Roman, did you see the vid i sent you?" Virgil asked, attempting to start a conversation without Patton or Janus. "I did! Wait- we're talking about the dnd one, right?" Roman hurried to clarify, and Virgil nodded, "yeah so i did watch it, it seemed really interesting! I'd love to do a game with you some day" Roman blushed. Virgil smiled awkwardly, wanting to show Roman his years of campaign planning just for him, but he knew it'd seem weird. "Hey, lovebirds, there are more people sitting with you" Janus exclaimed, signaling at himself and his brother. Roman and Virgil both burst into denying chatter, while Patton giggled to himself. They all spent the rest of the break talking about some math teacher that got pregnant from a different teacher. Remus and Logan didn't come back.

At the end of the school day, as Patton walked out, he saw two cute boys talking right outside the school's gate. He took a deep breath and approached them. "H-hey! My name is Patton, and I think you look really cool, wanna be friends?" He asked, seeming as innocent as a baby. The taller one chuckled, "sure. Im Remy, this is my twin brother, Emile" he smiled, and took a sip out of his coffee. Emile smiled a bit, already knowing he's got feelings for Patton, he always saw him around, hanging with hus classmate, Virgil, and he always seemed so sweet and caring. It was obvious he liked puns, just perfect for him. "He's awkward" Remy whispered to Patton, and preceded to be slapped by Emile. Patt giggled, but in a friendly way rather than a bullying way. Thats when Janus whispered into Patton's ear, "we need to get home, bitch" and laughed.
"LANGUAGE!!" Patton shouted. Janus just kept laughing. "Sorry, uh, this is my brother, Janus" he explained to his new friends. "Is Janus your actual name?" Emile asked, his sweet honey colored eyes glowing with curiosity. "Nope, its Julia. But i really hate that name, so i changed it. Too feminine" Janus explained, grabbing Patton's hand, "now, me and my beloved brother need to head home. See ya!" he dragged him off to the bus stop.

"he was amazing!!" Emile called, flapping his hands. "His brother was hotter." Remy replied, sipping his coffee like the bad bitch that he is. "Sometimes i really dont get how you're my twin brother and not some distant uncle of an uncle" Em joked. "What can i say, I'm the Picani with the most personality" Remy flipped imaginary hair (his hair is too short). "Pfft, yeah, right. You dont even know what you're gonna do next week, i already know what im learning in college." Emile joked as they both started walking home.

Parenting is hard.
Virgil is the oldest of all the sides nobody knows this not even patton who is considered the oldest of the whole group
Everyone has emotions that develop over time a baby usually starts off with fear or happiness they can come out crying or laughing
Thomas was always told he was a happy baby by his parents so he never questioned who the oldest was “well it has to be Patton he has a lot of my happier emotions then Logan because after the split it would make Roman and Remus younger then Janus would be a bit older then the twins right?”
Virgil always thought it was fine because he was younger bodily than everyone else he was created from the very beginning of Thomases journey in the Void of his mind aimlessly walking around sides can’t be baby’s so he was around the age of 7 it was just him and Thomas for about three minutes then…
“Wow he is so cute!” A blond boy with freckles and dirty blond hair showed off his soft baby blue eyes full of hope. “Hi my name is Emotion but you can call me Happy!” He stuck his hand out to the fear filled boy.
Fear looked at the hand and shook it the world became a lot more busy after that Brain and Creativity joined in just a few months after Thomas learned his first word.
A house appeared once Thomas became the age of 4 looking exactly like his childhood home Fear and the others grew a lot slower than regular since they need to be a bit more mature than that of the host and since Fear is the oldest he was in charge of very emotional kids.
Fear worked the house, taught Happy cooking and cleaning skills, helped Smarts with homework and even got him a book of astrology noticing how he would go back on Thomas’s memories of the night sky. Lier looked up to Fear as a father figure and loved playing with Creativity Fear had to warn them when there games would get to morbid though!
Above all Things were going good in the house.
“FEAR! Help!”
Fear leaped out of his normal looking room into the living room and seeing Lier on the ground near Creativity who is pale and passed out.
“What happened?” He rushed to his kid and kneeled.
“I Know what happened, we were just p-playing a game! And he gave Thomas an idea but he got yelled at by his mom? And then this happened!” Lier is a bit better than his future counterpart because he can control a bit when he talks.
Thomas is at the age of good and evil; the result ends up with Fear witnessing his kiddo splitting into two different people.
“Fear what just happened?” Happy came in at the wrong time.
Fear looked up and said in a soft shaking voice “nothing go back to sleep ok kiddo?” Happy did as told, tearing up for the first time ever and Fear looked back at Lier who was trembling his yellow scales shimmering from the tv screen.
“Man that fucking hurt!” Dark Creativity woke up then Light Creativity woke up to “don’t say that!”
Fear now had a lot on his hands working with five children. Happy was well… different. He took on cooking more than usual as Fear worked on helping Dark Creativity with his mental health Smarts and Happy got glasses after coming to Fear one day when Thomas was 10 saying there eyes hurt and Light Creativity has always wanted to be a prince.
Lier grew to be more of a problem he started to lie a lot in sentences and make it a issue for people to trust him Fear and Dark Creativity quickly picked up on the issue and learned the way he spoke quickly so misunderstandings can be quelled before they started.
More and more rooms opened around the mindscape and the twins claimed it was the appropriate name of the place they live!
Thomas walked down the corridors of school and there he was his first crush. That's when his mind changed and everyone upgraded.
Lier became Deceit Happy became Morality Dark to Intrusive Light to Creativity Smarts to Logic and finally Fear to Anxiety all in one month.
Things changed Deceit couldn’t change the way he talked making Creativity to lash out one day and cut Deceits scaled cheek making Intrusive mad and lash out Logic said they should be separated and Morality didn’t want that they just needed to talk it out!
This caused a issue as Anxiety tried to help them where he could but Intrusive made a side comment one day during movie night that impacted Logic “didn’t you know Logic works best not showing emotions they get in the way! Like a cock block!” Making the Logical side to become stoic and unfeeling. Making Morality more emotional. Affecting everyone else.
In the end it was Thomas that changed the mindscape forcing the place to split apart at the age of 14 so much fighting occurred it caused Anxiety to go into his first panic attack and he would never forgive himself for separating his family at the cost of Thomas.
At that moment the ground shook and everyone stopped talking seeing the oldest break shadows around the whole mindscape with his power “STOP FIGHTING!” In a flash there was a dark version of the house they live in and Deceit and Intrusive was put in there by Thomas’s mind.
Anxiety was wiped from everyone’s mind the medicine that his doctor was giving him worked and he was able to get rid of the bad panic attacks causing Anxiety to wake up in the dark side mind palace seeing this broke his heart because his only family sees him as a weak useless side.
He found it interesting that the sides all remembers things that he taught them Janus was good and calming people down and thinking things threw he was always level headed while he wondered where he went wrong with Remus he spoke his mind and most of the time made Virgil uncomfortable he loved Remus’s Dream scape a world under the stairs it made Virgil sad and happy knowing they still have a piece of each other with them.
The house in the dark side was very bad broken unsound and unclean barely any food and he was stuck with the two he never taught to cook and if he started to act like he did they might get suspicious so he stuck with whatever could pass as mildly cooked or over and avoid the kitchen when Remus tried to cook.
The only thing that made him more sad was when there was movie nights it started back up in the dark side when he woke up they sat together on the broken couch and watched some show that Thomas seen.
“Do you guys ever miss the light sides?” Virgil asked softly. Remus sitting upside down on the armrest eating a deodorant with hair in it looked up “why would we miss them? There was as wet as a dog going down an alleyway just for some gang to come up and take his legs off and leave it there for mice and rats-“ deceit interrupted “Absolutely not why would I ever?”
When Virgil met Thomas for the first time he was surprised and confused he reacted quickly making himself as intimidating as possible bringing in his dad anger also as he snapped at Thomas while also hating himself but knowing it was for the best
