Pretending to be fine after a small incident, and their partner/friend asks them what’s wrong, which flips the switch and they can’t stop crying. And eventually tell their partner/friend about it

His nightmares were rarely straightforward. Sometimes the moments of his worst traumas looped through his mind over and over; sometimes he dreamed of past or future events ending in the worst possible way; sometimes he was in his father's grasp, struggling for breath as his throat constricted and the world went black; sometimes he was his father. The one thing that remained constant was how impossible it was to wake himself, even when he was aware he was dreaming.

He used to wake up from those nightmares tangled in his sheets from trying to fight his way back to consciousness. Now, though...

Zuko woke to an arm wrapped firmly around his midsection. His wife curled around him protectively from behind. Once his heart stopped thudding in his chest, he could feel the even rise and fall of her chest against his back. His nightmare faded until all he was left with was the weak impression of having been afraid. Katara took a deep breath and nuzzled his neck.

"You alrigh'?" she asked sleepily. Zuko turned over so he could pull her closer. He kissed her forehead and smiled into her hair.

"Never better," he said.

Your prompt: Mamoru and Usagi and their friends end up having to all sleep in the same room. Nobody can get any sleep because Usagi is snoring incredibly loud... Except for Mamoru, who's completely used to it.

"That can't be healthy," Makoto lifted her head and frowned over at the patch of floor Usagi and Mamoru had claimed for themselves. Beside her Minako poked her head out of her sleeping bag and scowled at Usagi.

"What's not healthy is me not getting my full ten hours," she hissed.

"You can't be mad at her because you're lazy," Rei snorted.

"I'm not lazy!" Minako insisted. "We spent all day wandering around these stupid woods and I'm exhausted!" She threw her arm over her eyes and groaned. "I'm so tired!"

"She may have sleep apnea," Ami said with some concern. "Maybe I'll recommend a specialist for her to see once we get back."

"We should have gone back once we got here and realized we got scammed," Rei grumbled. "This is the last time we go through Air BnB. I'm strictly hotel or nothing."

"Here, here, sister!" Minako agreed.

They were supposed to be sleeping in a luxurious palatial mountaintop chalet, with a jacuzzi, fully stocked bar and plenty of rooms and beds for everyone. Instead, they were sharing the floor of a decrepit one room shack that looked nothing like the listing online. It was their first trip together since Usagi and Mamoru's wedding, and it was a bust. The owner of the cabin hadn't answered any of their back to back calls, and by the time they realized they were, in fact, at the right address, it had been too late to find a hotel. They would have to try in the morning.

Minako let out a disgusted huff, vowing to sue the owner of the cabin for all they were worth. Which, judging by the shack of a cabin, wasn't much. She looked over at Usagi and Mamoru again and shook her head in disbelief.

"How does he sleep through that?" she wondered out loud.

"He's got to be used to it," Makoto said with a shrug. "They've been married three years." Mamoru stirred just then. He groaned and rolled onto his back. Then he sat up groggily and looked over at his friends.

"Can you guys keep it down?" he asked. "Your talking woke me up."

{this could also be ways to realize your characters care for one another, not just romantic love, but either way, they work!} - small touches between the two that cause tingles up their spines - they share a couple of ways past friendly glances across the room - their gaze always seems to meet, even subconsciously - they just feel happy at the innocent mention of the other name - always manages to bring them up in conversation - always trying to protect their name, especially when they're not there - when they get given nicknames - when the other is always on their mind - they see things they think the other would like/love/appreciate - seeing their relationships with other people - how they treat others - how they feel when something bad happens to the other - they feel safe with them - they're comfortable enough to tell them stuff they don't tell anyone - being able to ramble without feeling like they said too much - comfortable with each other's boundaries - know the way and where the other likes to be touched - is comfortable with either family - knows each other's fav songs/main playlist - talks about their hobbies with each other even if the other isn't fond of them - knows when the other is uncomfortable without saying - knowing exactly what their scent is to a tee - subconsciously grabbing {gently!} them to make sure they're still there
