Over the moon or the journey to healing

This is less of an essay and more of me gushing over this cartoon and the way it portrayed the loss of a loved one.

The main character of this cartoon is Fei Fei-a kid from the Chinese village whose family are bakers.Through the first scenes we see heroines mom succumbing to an illness,killing her in the process.While the girl grieves for her Ma Ma,a few years later Fei Fei is helping with the family business all the while honoring her mothers legacy.It seems like the teen has accepted the death of her parent and tries to live on. However, later we learn that this is not quite the case.

After the arrival of Mrs.Zhong and her son Chin into her and Ba Bas household,Fei Fei feels uncomfortable and repeatedly emphasizes that she "wants to return everything to its place”.By that she means  that her father would love her mum again,while she would continue believing into stories told by her about the moon goddess Chang’e without judgement of others.The girl's dislike of future family members was also expressed in her refusal to try Zong's mooncakes, which hints at her unwillingness to embrace the newcomers into her own world.Upset and confused,Fei Fei makes a plan to “return everything back to normal”,which is to travel to the Moon and prove Ba Ba wrong by taking a picture with Chang’e,making a living proof of her mom’s stories.That way she tries to regain her normal flow of life by combining the two things that made it possible - her mother and her legends.

Upon meeting the Goddes of Moon,Fei Fei finds out that she isn’t the same as in stories-Chang’e is self-absorbed,petty,and quite rude to the newcomers.She’s seeking a way to revive her husband Houyi,and for that she needs “a gift”which the girl seemingly has.While Chang’e created the Kindom of Lunaria and became a singer,her loved one never left her mind,so she proceeded to search for a way to bring him back.Similar to Fei Fei,despite looking content,the Goddes is stuck in the past,never letting go of the traumatic event that occurred.

After an attempt to resurrect Houyi failed,the Moon Goddes caused The Great Darkness,where all of the Lunaria blacked out while she retreated into the Chamber of Exquisite Sadness.Fei Fei followed shortly after,only to be plagued by the memories of her mothers death. It was there that the two of them discussed the loss of their loved ones and the fact that, despite the pain and reluctance to let go of what they had lost, they needed to move on and accept new people into their lives.Thanks to this realization both Chang’e and Fei Fei had healed-the first continued to be the Queen of Lunaria while the later returned home,welcoming Chin and his mom.

Oh dear. Echo episode 4 has certainly made the timeline possibility even more messy than it already is.

Easy solution: chalk the current timeline up to being an alteration thanks to Endgame time shenanigans. In the MCU 2008 as we knew it before, Fisk was NOT the White-Suit version and he was always always always wearing his father's cufflinks. He didn't change until he started dating Vanessa. Also, there's no Wesley. At that date, based on the fierce friendship from Daredevil Season 1, it's unthinkable Wesley would not also be there. (And lbr HE would be the translator for Maya. And he would love Maya just as much as he loved Fisk. Bet me)

Difficult solution: no alternate timeline, somehow fold in this lapse in design with the existing Daredevil Netflix version as a treat for the audience to see White Suit Kingpin and the lapse in Wesley presence to.....maybe it's the year before he met Fisk, idk. I don't know any other reason Wesley wouldn't be there at that time if this is the same timeline.

Mmmmmmm there's a very easy solution, just keep the continuity or confirm this is a different timeline. But then, Loki is all about the fact that the MCU is the Sacred Timeline and all that jazz, and if Daredevil is officially MCU, it's part of the Timeline. So just keep with the continuity, it's not hard.

This just makes it even more difficult for the poor writers honestly.

Unrelated to all of this though, Alaqua Cox is incredible and I love Maya's growth. Don't know what the hell is going on with Kingpin and the Daredevil continuity, but Echo herself is doing great. Keep going sweetie, you're slaying.

WARNING: slight spoiler for The Glory

NGL I genuinely assumed that they were going to make Jeon Jae Joon, from the The Glory, the male lead or one of the love interests. Since he was a bystander to the brutal bullying of Moon Dong Eun and was not seen participating physically in it (which is just as bad).

I thought they were going to make his character similar to Rui Hanazawa/Yoon Ji-Hoo from Hana Yori Dango/Boys over Flowers. Someone who was friends with bullies but didn't do much to stop it. I'm glad they didn't go through this route. I never liked the idea of it.

In the first episode, it looked like he might have felt guilty or sympathetic towards Moon Dong Eun while she was being tortured in the assembly hall. But nope, I was wrong. This man didn't give a crap at what his friends were doing and might have found the whole thing uninteresting and never his problem.

Like the man had the money and power to stop it, compared to other students, he just didn't. Like he wasn't going to lose anything from stopping it.

As the show progressed, it became clear that Jeon Jae Joon shared the same violent tendencies as his friends.

I'm currently on ep 6 so I don't how his character is going to evolve (or devolve) in the next two episodes and in Season 2.

Hopefully they criticise him for being a bystander. There could be a scene where Jeon Jae Joon is like: Why are you going after me?! I didn't do anything to you!

And Moon Dong Eun is like: You stood and watched while I screamed as they burned me. You're just as guilty as they are.

Maybe he did physically hurt her and we aren't shown it yet.

Maybe he is involved in the murder of the previous bullied victim (So-hee was it? Don't remember her name). We saw how violently he reacted when his classmate made fun of his colour-blindness.

So-hee might have angered him (NOT HER FAULT) resulting in him pushing to her death. But on second thoughts, there isn't any signs to show that he was involved in it and was probably Park Yeon Jin. Maybe he was and has gotten over it. He didn't feel any remorse for Dong Eun so why would he feel the same way for So-Hee. Probably just happy he got away with it.

This was supposed to be a much shorter post but I just rambled my thoughts. Sorry if it didn't make sense. Quite sleepy actually.

EDIT: finished the show. I was wrong, Jae Joon also tormented her. Should’ve watched the whole show before writing this. Oh well.
