the reason why bejeweled feels very calvin to me still is how it parallels high infidelity. in general, the 3am tracks seem to explore a darker, more explicit side of a storyline that’s already present, if only in the form of subtext (like we don’t have a direct parallel for wcs, but we do have two songs exploring formative past relationships vaguely sexually, and wcs is the darker example), on the main album, and bejeweled/high infidelity is perhaps the best example of this. its similarities to tolerate it, which is about something she felt ‘at one point in her life,’ back this up. HOWEVER, I do think it’s exploring a potential outcome of the then-current state of her relationship with joe. like, this is how things could go - I have forgotten that I have a man in the past, and I can do it again.

If your team is so good and so much better then everyone else then you should be able to loose players and not struggle. Otherwise your team isn’t actually that good, you just really on certain players to win you things. A team who is actually great and is becoming better then what they were previously makes sure that everyone in the squad is great. Especially given that the players missing (with the exception of Becky and Mal) is not new news to anyone, they’ve all been out for months injured so your team should have adapted by know (Becky and Mal were too late in terms of international windows for much change to be made). Other teams have players out injured and have adapted well because everyone on the team is good, not just a handful. And yes all teams do have standout players, but they aren’t miles better then everyone else in the squad.

Chris basically the same story and she wasn't even in Vlatko's plans before she got injured. Becky and Mal are the only last minute drop outs and a country like the US should be able to cover that. The US was the team who said in 2019 that they could field two teams and get first and second in the world cup and now fans are saying they got screwed because of two injured players?

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.

you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
