In the heart of Pakistan's interior Sindh, a village called Sanghar witnessed a heinous act of brutality. A ruthless landlord, fueled by anger and disregard for life, mercilessly cut off a camel's paw simply because it had wandered into his plot without permission! This senseless act of violence is a stark reminder of the cruel world we live in, where we cry out for justice for Palestine while ignoring the atrocities in our own backyard.

A innocent camel, harmless and defenseless, fell victim to human cruelty, and yet, no one is held accountable! The perpetrator, emboldened by his wealth and influence, will likely escape punishment, leaving the poor creature to suffer without justice. This is the harsh reality of our world, where the powerful prey on the weak, and the voiceless are left to suffer in silence.

Oh, Allah, have mercy on us! How long will we turn a blind eye to such atrocities? When will we learn to value life and compassion? The world is indeed a cruel place, where the strong oppress the weak, and the innocent are left to bear the brunt of human brutality.

"Around the world, mangrove forests have undergone a decades-long decline that is just now slowing to a halt.

In Pakistan, by contrast, mangroves expanded nearly threefold between 1986 and 2020, according to a 2022 analysis of satellite data.

Experts attribute this success to massive mangrove planting and conservation, as well as concerted community engagement.

Many in Pakistan are looking to mangroves to bolster precious fish stocks and defend against the mounting effects of climate change — even as threats to mangroves, such as wood harvesting and camel grazing, continue with no end in sight."

"His sandaled feet drenched in black mud, Rashid Rasheed points to one of the mangrove nurseries he’s been looking after for the past few years. With wooden walls topped by green netting, a dozen nurseries shelter thousands of saplings.

Rasheed, a researcher and nursery expert with the government of Balochistan province in Pakistan, has been leading a drive to establish nurseries in the coastal town of Dam. The goal is to expand and enhance the town’s scattered patches of natural mangrove forest, which have shriveled due to human activities.

“These nurseries have 50,000 saplings that are ready to be transported to the creeks for planting” Rasheed tells Mongabay.

Rasheed’s work is part of a five-year project initiated in 2019 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ South China Sea Institute of Oceanography that has planted mangroves on 16 hectares (40 acres) at Dam, and at other sites in Balochistan and neighboring Sindh province.

It’s one of many projects aiming to restore Pakistan’s mangroves. These semiaquatic trees offer a host of benefits, such as protecting coasts against storms and rising sea levels, providing habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife, sequestering carbon better than most other ecosystems on Earth, and sustaining the livelihoods of some 120 million people globally, according to the IUCN.

Around the world, mangrove forests have undergone a decades-long decline that’s just now slowing to a halt. But Pakistan bucks this trend. The country’s mangroves expanded from 48,331 hectares in 1986 to 143,930 hectares in 2020 (119,430 to 355,659 acres), a nearly threefold increase, according to a 2022 analysis of satellite data. “It is because of the constant endeavor by government and NGOs,” the analysis states, citing restoration, research, and awareness-raising campaigns “now being religiously carried out to conserve and regrow mangroves” by local, national and foreign bodies. Fishing communities, who depend on mangroves for fuel, shelter and as fish nurseries, are often key to the success of Pakistan’s mangrove restoration, providing the labor for planting and protection."

Sometimes I wish I had alot of money so I could help people seek help from war/conflict/illness. I wanna be able to click on a gofund me and instantly help them reach their goal. But I'm young and poor. Maybe one day I'll be wealthy enough to do such things, but for now I'm stuck watching the world around me crumble. I see people apologise for asking for help. I see children being called terrorists because of the year they were born. I see parents, siblings, children, family members, and friends desperately trying to help their loved ones, but I can't do much. If there's anyone living in ANY sort of pain reading this - I just wanna say something to you. - you are not being a burden by asking for help. You don't need to apologise. - it's not your fault. - if you are in The Gaza Strip, Palestine, Yemen, Iran, Pakistan, Sudan, Ukraine, or any areas of conflict - I wish you the best. Pakistan is the world’s fifth-most climate-vulnerable country, yet it contributes only 1% of the world’s carbon emissions. How unfair is that? Pakistan has not benefited from what carbon has built to the same degree that wealthier nations have. In the US, we’ve enjoyed solid infrastructure, hospitals, comfort, and consumerism that were made possible by fossil fuels and extraction. But we won’t have as intense heat or drought as Pakistan will in the coming years. We need to, and can, change our ways in order to help people in the most affected areas of our world.

Major brands like Zara and H&M sell garments produced with cotton from Brazilian farms. These have been linked to deforestation and land grabbing, according to a new investigation. -Before they reach the display windows of fashion giants like Zara and H&M, cotton pants, shorts, shirts and socks leave behind a trail of deforestation, land grabbing and human rights violations in Brazil. Though many of them carry a sustainable production label,  a yearlong investigation by UK-based NGO Earthsight  detailed the connection between crops in Brazil, the world's fourth largest cotton producer, and European brands. Earthsight analyzed satellite images, shipping records, public archives and visited producing regions to track the journey taken by 816,000 tons of cotton. According to the report, this raw material was produced specifically for eight Asian companies which, between 2014 and 2023, manufactured around 250 million retail items. Many of them, the investigation claims, supplied brands such as H&M and Zara, among others. "It's shocking to see these links between very recognizable global brands that apparently don't make enough effort to have control over these supply chains. To know where the cotton comes from and what kind of impact it causes," Rubens Carvalho, head of deforestation research at Earthsight, told DW. The problem lies at the source: Cotton for export is mainly produced in the western part of Brazil's Bahia state, a region immersed in a tropical and extremely biodiverse savanna called the Cerrado. Vegetation in the Cerrado is often razed illegally to make space for crops and cultivation. Deforestation there has doubled in the last five years, according to Brazil's National Institute for Space Research. Deforestation and land grabbing Among the cases analyzed in the report is the SLC Agricola group, which claims to be responsible for 11% of Brazil's cotton exports. The Earthsight report estimates that in the last 12 years, Cerrado land equivalent to 40,000 football fields has been destroyed within SLC's farms. And in 2020, the company, which also grows soybeans, was named the biggest deforester in the biome, according to the American think tank Chain Reaction Research. In 2021, SLC committed to a zero-deforestation policy with its suppliers. A year later, a report by the nonprofit consultancy Aidenvironment found that 1,365 hectares of the Cerrado had been razed within properties that grow cotton. And almost half of this was within a legal reserve. When questioned about these allegations, the group told DW that "all of SLC's conversions of native vegetation occurred within the limits established by law."

on mass deportations of afghan refugees in pakistan

not many people are talking about this but this is a gross human rights violation. according to pakistan's citizenship laws, people born on pakistani soil are automatically eligible for citizenship and parents/spouses of pakistani citizens are also eligible for citizenship. however, these laws have not been extended to afghan refugees. now these refugees are being deported to afghanistan, even tho many of them have never been to aghanistan. theyre literally being sent to camps on the pak-afghan border and forced to take classes on how to evade landmines. the police is also targeting and brutalizing documented afghan refugees. any success and wealth that afghan refugees accumulated has been in spite of the bigotry of most of the pakistani population and in spite of the shitty pakistani government. these civilians are in no way a strain on pakistan's economy, neither do they pose a security threat. theyre just being used by the pakistani establishment as a political pawn to get back at the taliban govt in afghanistan and to appease the pakistani population in the wake of intense economic and political instability. the conditons in afghanistan are already horrible and the vid touched upon that. afg has suffered some major earthqakes that have killed thousands of people, in addition to the sanctions + ofc the fact that the country is trying to rebuild after almost half a centruy of violent conflict

also want to point out how sick this is considering that pakistan benefitted a lot from the wars in afghanistan (against the soviets and against the taliban as well) bec of US aid and then bec of aid that was given to pakistan to cater to afghan refugees (ofc this aid almost never made it to the people who needed it - pakistan has p much no welfare programmes for the refugees) and pakistanis are often discriminatory/racist against afghan refugees. the afghan people have suffered a lot due to pakistan's greed and now theyre suffering once again. pakistanis are literally using similar rhetoric thats used against pakistani immgrants abroad (that theyre illegal aliens, that theyre illiterate regressive extremists, that theyre rapists and criminals)

Pakistan proceeds to endure and see-saw among trust and disappointment! There's a heightening in distress and grief instead of harmony and tranquility | pakistanis proceed to exist and experience in a world.

For what reason do we need to face a daily reality such that our lives are being obliterated by our own people groups? Why do we have to face this amount of inflation despite working our ass off and paying the maximum amount of taxes from our hard earned money?

For what reason can we not carry on with straightforward lives?

Why the corruption is taking over the population of Millions? Why is that life of a Pakistan is just about experiencing a lifetime of crisis, blockade and disturbance so abundantly that it has taken away the recognition of normalcy and harmony from the hearts and minds?

Many inquiries like these-unanswered; leaving us confounded and baffled, yet our disappointments track down no outlet. The authority doesn't put forth the smallest attempt to correct our issues. Whom to we depend on? Why in the world we are in any event, existing?.

The poverty line is in the most obviously awful space. They neither can have food nor some other necessities. While we are still in the best shape in view of our privileged background however have you thought till when???

The only choice yet the most impressive one remaining is TO pray: that

Iran targets military bases in Pakistan, US base evacuates in Syria

Iran launched airstrikes in Pakistan, allegedly targeting a Sunni militant group, meanwhile the US military evacuated the Hemo base near the town of Qamishli following repeated attacks by Islamic resistance groups in Iraq, signalling an escalation in the Middle East.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry reported that two children were killed and three injured in an “illegal” airstrike. To protest the “unprovoked violation of its airspace,” the ministry summoned Tehran’s senior diplomat to Islamabad.

Iran reported that the strikes targeted bases of the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl, but any mention of the attack disappeared rapidly in Iranian media.

The strikes in Pakistan came less than a day after Iranian missile strikes in Syria and Iraq, part of Tehran’s retaliation after the bombing in the city of Kerman at the memorial of commander Qasem Soleimani.

The next international climate change conference will start on Nov. 4 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Tens of millions are struggling to recover from extreme weather disasters that spanned the entire world in 2022. Just a little more than a month will have passed by the time the delegates gather since two of the worst-known weather catastrophes in human history happened in Pakistan and China.

In 2009, at the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Denmark, the developed industrialized countries were forced to commit to raising $100 billion per year to assist the Global South in adapting to the effects of climate change.

They have not met the obligation. The website of the World Resources Institute reports that by October of 2021, “Three major economies — the United States, Australia, and Canada — provided less than half their share of the financial effort.”

A fraction of the funds handed over to the Pentagon each year would cover the U.S.’s commitment. But solidarity with the Global South is not on the imperialist agenda.

کیا معیشت دم توڑ چکی ہے؟

کمال فنکاری بلکہ اوج ثریا سے منسلک لازوال عیاری سے اصل معاملات چھپائے جا رہے ہیں۔ جذباتیت‘ شدید نعرے بازی اور کھوکھلے وعدوں سے ایک سموک سکرین قائم کی گئی ہے جس میں ملک کی ریڑھ کی ہڈی‘ یعنی معیشت کے فوت ہونے کے المیہ کو خود فریبی کا کفن پہنا کر چھپایا جا رہا ہے۔ ذمہ داری سے گزارش کر رہا ہوں کہ پاکستان کی معیشت دم توڑ چکی ہے۔ دھوکہ بازی کے ماہر بھرپور طریقے سے غلط اعداد فراہم کر رہے ہیں۔ قوم کو اصل حقیقت سے مکمل دور کر دیا گیا ہے۔ مگر انفارمیشن کے اس جدید دور میں لوگوں کو مسلسل فریب دینا ناممکن ہو چکا ہے۔ طالب علم کو کوئی غرض نہیں کہ سیاسی حالات کیا ہیں۔  کون پابند سلاسل ہے اور کون سا پنچھی آزاد ہوا میں لوٹن کتوبر کی طرح قلابازیاں کھا رہا ہے۔ اہم ترین نکتہ صرف ایک ہے کہ پاکستان کے معاشی حالات کیا ہیں؟ کیا وہ بہتری کی جانب رواں دواں ہیں یا ذلت کی پاتال میں گم ہو چکے ہیں۔ عوام کی بات کرنا بھی عبث ہے۔ اس لیے کہ اس بدقسمت خطے میں ڈھائی ہزار برس سے عام آدمی کا کوئی پرسان حال نہیں ہے۔

عام آدمی چندرگپت موریا اور اشوکا کے زمانے سے دربدر ہے۔ اور اگر ہمارے خطے میں جوہری تبدیلی نہ آئی یا نہ لائی گئی۔ تو یقین فرمائیے کہ کم از کم پاکستان میں حسب روایت اور تاریخ کے غالیچے پر براجمان طبقہ تباہی کا صور اسرافیل پھونک رہا ہے۔ معیشت کو ٹھیک سمت میں اگر موجودہ وزیراعظم اور وزیر خزانہ نہیں لے کر جائے گا تو پھر کون یہ اہم ترین کام کرے گا۔ غور کیجیے۔ اگر کوئی ایسی بیرونی اور اندرونی منصوبہ بندی ہے کہ پاکستان کو سابقہ سوویت یونین کی طرز پر آرے سے کاٹنا ہے ۔ تو پھر تو درست ہے ۔ مگر وہ کون لوگ اور ادارے ہیں جو جانتے بوجھتے ہوئے بھی ملکی معیشت کو دفنانے کی بھرپور کوشش میں کامیاب ہو چکے ہیں۔ ہمیں تو بتایا گیا ہے کہ ریاستی اداروں کی عقابی نظرسے کوئی امر پوشیدہ نہیں ہے۔ تو پھر ملکی معیشت کا جنازہ کس طرح نکال دیا گیا۔ ڈاکٹر اشفاق حسین جیسے جید معیشت دان‘ گال پیٹ پیٹ کر ملک کی معاشی زبوں حالی کا ذکر عرصے سے کر رہے ہیں۔ کیوں ان جیسے دانا لوگوں کی باتوں کو اہمیت نہیں دی گئی۔ گمان تو یہ ہے کہ واقعی ایک پلان ہے‘ جس میں مرکزیت صرف ایک سیاسی جماعت کو ختم کرنا ہے۔ اس اثناء میں‘ اگر معیشت ختم ہو گئی تو اسے زیادہ سے زیادہ Collateral damage کے طور پر برداشت کرنا ہے۔

صاحبان! اگر واقعی یہ سب کچھ آدھا جھوٹ اور آدھا سچ ہے۔ تب بھی مشکل صورتحال پیدا ہو چکی ہے۔ بین الاقوامی اقتصادی اداروں کے سامنے ہم گھٹنوں کے بل نہیں بلکہ سربسجود ہونے کے باوجود ’’ایک دھیلہ یا ایک پائی‘‘ کا قرضہ حاصل کرنے میں ناکام رہے ہیں۔ یہ سچ بھرپور طریقے سے چھپایا جا رہا ہے۔ وزیرخزانہ کے نعروں کے باوجود ورلڈ بینک پاکستان کی کسی قسم کی کوئی مدد کرنے کو تیار نہیں ہے۔ اس پر کمال یہ ہے کہ وزیراعظم ‘ وزیراعلیٰ ‘ گورنر صاحبان ‘ وزراء اور ریاستی اداروں کے سربراہان ہر طرح کی مالی مراعات لے رہے ہیں۔ جن کا ترقی یافتہ ممالک میں بھی تصور نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ سرکاری ہوائی جہاز‘ سرکاری ہیلی کاپٹر‘ حکومتی قیمتی ترین گاڑیاں‘ رکشے کی طرح استعمال کی جا رہی ہیں۔ چلیئے‘ اس ادنیٰ اداکاری کا کوئی مثبت نتیجہ نکل آئے۔ تو کوئی فرق نہیں پڑتا۔ مگر ایک سال سے تو کسی قسم کا کوئی ٹھنڈی ہوا کا جھونکا نہیں آیا۔ کسی قسم کی ایسی بات نہیں کر رہا‘ جس کا ثبوت نہ ہو۔ 

ایکسپریس ٹربیون میں برادرم شہباز رانا کی ملکی معیشت کے متعلق رپورٹ رونگٹے کھڑے کر دینے والی ہے۔ یہ چھبیس مئی کو شائع ہوئی ہے۔ رپورٹ کے مطابق ‘ پاکستان کی معیشت سکڑ کر صرف اور صرف 341 بلین ڈالر تک آ چکی ہے۔ یہ ناقابل یقین کمی‘ ملکی معیشت کا نو فیصد ہے۔ یعنی گزشتہ ایک برس میں اقتصادی طور پر ملک خوفناک طور پر غرق کیا گیا ہے۔ یہ 34 بلین ڈالر کا جھٹکا ہے۔ اس کی وضاحت کون کرے گا۔ اس کا کسی کو بھی علم نہیں۔ انفرادی آمدنی‘ پچھلے اقتصادی برس سے گیارہ فیصد کم ہو کر 1568 ڈالر پر آ چکی ہے۔ یعنی یہ گیارہ فیصد یا 198 ڈالر کی کمی ہے۔ یہ اعداد و شمار کسی غیر سرکاری ادارے کے نہیں‘ بلکہ چند دن قبل نیشنل اکاؤنٹس کمپنی (NAC) میں سرکاری سطح پر پیش کئے گئے تھے۔ اور ان پر سرکار کی مہر ثابت ہو چکی ہے۔ معیشت کا سکڑنا اور انفرادی آمدنی میں مسلسل گراؤٹ کسی بھی حکومت کی ناکامی کا اعلانیہ نہیں تو اور کیا ہے۔ تف ہے کہ ملک کے ذمہ دار افراد میں سے کسی نے اس نوحہ پر گفتگو کرنی پسند کی ہو۔ ہاں۔ صبح سے رات گئے تک‘ سیاسی اداکار‘ سیاسی مخالفین کے لتے لیتے ہوئے نظر آتے ہیں۔ اب تو سیاسی مخالفین کو غدار اور غیر محب وطن ہونے کے سرٹیفکیٹ بھی تواتر سے بانٹے جا رہے ہیں۔ ماضی میں یہ کھیل کئی بار کھیلا جا چکا ہے۔

ہم نے ملک تڑوا لیا۔ لیکن کوئی سبق نہیں سیکھا۔ یہ کھیل آج بھی جاری ہے۔ معیشت کے ساتھ ساتھ ملک کی سالمیت سے بھی کھیلا جا رہا ہے۔ عمران خان تو خیر‘ سیاست کی پیچیدگیوں سے نابلد انسان ہے۔ مگر موجودہ تجربہ کار قائدین کیوں ناکام ہو گئے ہیں۔ خاکم بدہن‘ کہیں ملک توڑنے کا نسخہ‘ دوبارہ زیر استعمال تو نہیں ہے۔ وثوق سے کچھ کہنا ناممکن ہے۔ معیشت پر برادرم شہباز رانا کی رپورٹ میں تو یہاں تک درج ہے کہ بیورو آف سٹیسٹسکس (BOS) کو جعلی اعداد و شمار دینے پر مجبور کیا گیا ہے۔ یہ دباؤ حکومت وقت کے سرخیل کی طرف سے آیا ہے۔ بیورو نے ملکی معیشت کو منفی 0.5 فیصد پر رکھا تھا۔ مگر اس رپورٹ کے بقول وزارت خزانہ اور دیگرطاقتور فریقین نے یہ عدد جعل سازی سے تبدیل کروا کر مثبت 0.3 فیصد کروایا ہے۔ دل تھام کر سنیے۔ ملک میں آبادی بڑھنے کی شرح دو فیصد ہے۔ اگر 0.3 فیصد ملکی ترقی کو تسلیم کر بھی لیا جائے۔ تب بھی ملکی معیشت 1.7 فیصد منفی ڈھلان پر ہے۔ یہ معاملات کسی بھی ملک کی بربادی کے لیے ضرورت سے زیادہ ہیں۔ ہمارے دشمن شادیانے بجا رہے ہیں۔ اندازہ فرمائیے کہ اس رپورٹ کے مطابق‘ موجودہ حکومت نے 2022ء کے سیلاب میں دس لاکھ جانوروں کے نقصان کا ڈھنڈورا پیٹا تھا۔ Livestock سیکٹر کی بات کر رہا ہوں۔ مگر BOS کے مطابق حکومت کے یہ اعداد بھی مکمل طور پر غلط ہیں۔

سرکاری ادارے کے مطابق جانوروں کا نقصان صرف دو لاکھ ہے۔ سوچیئے۔ عالمی برادری اور ادارے‘ ہمارے اوپر کس طرح قہقہے لگا رہے ہونگے۔ اس تجزیہ کے مطابق زراعت کے شعبہ میں نمو 1.6 فیصد رکھی گئی ہے۔ یہ عدد بھی کسی بنیاد کے بغیر ہوا میں معلق ہے۔ وجہ یہ کہ کپاس کی فصل اکتالیس فیصد کم ہوئی ہے۔ کپاس کو روئی بنانے کے عمل میں 23 فیصد کمی واقع ہوئی ہے۔ چاول کی فصل میں اکیس فیصد کمی موجود ہے۔ یہ سب کچھ برادرم شہباز رانا کی شائع شدہ رپورٹ میں درج ہے۔ مگر ذرا میڈیا ‘ میڈیا رپورٹنگ پر نظر ڈالیے ۔ تو سوائے سیاست یا گالم گلوچ کے کچھ بھی نظر نہیں آتا۔ وہاں کوئی بھی ’’مہاشے‘‘ ذکر نہیں کرتا کہ معیشت بھی مقدس ہے۔ اگر یہ بیٹھ گئی تو سب کچھ عملی طور پر ہوا میں اڑ جائے گا۔ مگر کسی بھی طرف سے کوئی سنجیدہ بات سننے کو نہیں آتی۔ وزیر خزانہ کے یہ جملے‘ ’’کہ ہر چیز ٹھیک ہو جائے گی‘‘۔ بس فکر کی کوئی بات نہیں۔ ان پر شائد میرے جیسے لا علم اشخاص تو یقین کر لیں۔ مگر سنجیدہ بین الاقوامی اقتصادی ادارے اور ماہرین صرف ان جملوں پر ہنس ہی سکتے ہیں۔ 

معیشت ڈوب گئی تو پچیس کروڑ انسان‘ کتنے بڑے عذاب میں غرقاب ہو جائیںگے۔ اس پر بھی کوئی بات نہیں کرتا۔ موجودہ حکومت کی سیاست‘ سیاسی بیانات اور کارروائیاں ایک طرف۔ مگر عملی طور پر ہماری معیشت دم توڑ چکی ہے۔ صرف سرکاری طور پر تسلیم نہیں کیا جا رہا۔ سوال ہو سکتا ہے کہ ملک چل کیسے رہا ہے۔ اس کا جواب صرف یہ ہے‘ کہ ہماری بلیک اکانومی حد درجہ مضبوط اور فعال ہے۔ یہ واحد وجہ ہے کہ ہم خانہ جنگی میں نہیں جا رہے۔ مگر شائد تھوڑے عرصے کے بعد‘ یہ آخری عذاب بھی بھگتنا پڑے۔ مگر حضور‘ تھوڑا سا سچ بول ہی دیجئے۔ مردہ معیشت کی تدفین کب کرنی ہے!
