Effective Home Remedies for Heartburn Relief

Do you feel a burning sensation in your stomach after consuming food? Heartburn can be caused by a wide variety of daily life events. Many people's heartburn may be brought on by particular dietary and lifestyle choices. These behaviors can include overeating, eating excessively before bedtime, or even being under a lot of stress.

Kebab aur Sharab, NYC
I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions, but I do try and set a few goals for myself at the top of each year, like regularly updating this blog in 2023. Another is something I’m calling “CBTPB”, or “C.B’s Trains, Planes and Boats”, which is to make a weekly excursion to a restaurant I’ve never been to before that I’ll get to by one of the listed forms of transportation. And I’m kicking things off this week with my visit to the new Kebab aur Sharab on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, which I got to on the subway, more specifically, the 1 train.

Kebab aur Sharab is the newest restaurant from Chef Salil Mehta of Laut/Singapura/Wau fame who’s partnered with Chef Dipesh Shinde, cooking for the first time in New York City after years of running the kitchens in some New Delhi’s finest restaurants. I was kindly invited to the friends & family tasting last week and was truly impressed with every dish that hit our table. While I did have a few favorites, the first three dishes you’ll see below, their entire menu is worth exploring! Here’s a look...

Your Baby Eczema Causes and Triggers & How to Get Rid Of It

Eczema is one of the most common health problems ailing babies and young children.
Eczema can be treated using very simple and natural methods.
If you are expecting or planning to become pregnant, there are ways that you can minimize the risk of your child developing eczema.
In this article, I will be discussing baby eczema causes. It's horrible to see your little one struggling with a skin problem but there are steps you can take to minimize the occurrence of eczema and treat it when it does happen.
When you think about the fact that baby products are geared towards sensitive and fragile skin it can be very worrying to think about what could be triggering eczema. You will learn all about the triggers, but first, it's important to understand your baby's skin and what eczema is.  
Your Baby's Skin
A baby's skin is only 1/5 as thick as an adult's skin despite having the same amount of layers. This means the skin is very sensitive. Your baby's skin can dry out more easily and is more easily affected by chemicals in products and by the sun. Just on a side note, it is so important to protect them from Microwaves and Cell phone radiations. They can penetrate easily into the babies and can do permanent damage. I have written a full separate article on that. Getting back to Eczema:  
What Is Eczema
Eczema is also known as atopic dermatitis and isn't contagious. Atopic dermatitis is the most common form of eczema among children. It usually has two phases:
Phase 1 (inactive): This is where the skin is dry. The skin will need to be moisturized daily to relieve the dryness and the discomfort that comes with it (itching, tightness, flaking, and irritation). Below I have written how to sop this in stage one or how to reverse it to stage 1 to having no eczema.                                                                                                                                          
Phase 2 (active): This is where treatment is required because eczema has flared up. Usually, the treatment is cream or lotion that will soothe itchy skin and calm the inflammation.
Conclusion
Eczema (atopic dermatitis) can develop in babies as young as 6 months and is usually outgrown by age 5 though it can also last into adulthood in some children.
Eczema has two phases, an inactive phase where the skin is dry and sometimes irritated and requires daily moisturizing, and the active phase where there are patches of eczema.
Many things can cause eczema, usually genetics, stress, and allergens.
Reduce exposure to allergens and try an elimination diet to learn which foods trigger eczema.
Create a stress-free environment for your child to minimize the possibility of stress.
Use natural chemical-free products where possible.
Keep baths short and lukewarm. Moisturize within 3 minutes of the bath finishing.
A healthy diet full of vegetables and healthy fats will help to support your child's immune system and skin health.
You can minimize the risk of your child getting eczema by eating probiotics and getting enough vitamin D during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Saag/Palak Paneer with Cashew

Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
Kosher salt
3 tablespoons plus 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
16 ounces paneer, (Indian cheese, either store-bought or made from my recipe, recipe follows), cut into 0.5-inch cubes, see Cook's Note*
1 medium white onion, finely chopped
1 (1-inch thumb) ginger, peeled and minced (about 1 tablespoon)
4 cloves garlic, minced
Note: 2 tsp of garlic ginger paste may be used instead of ginger and garlic
1 large green serrano chile, finely chopped (seeds removed if you don't like it spicy!) or 1.5 green thai chilis, seeds removed
2 medium vine on tomatoes, in a 0.5 inch dic
1/2 teaspoon store-bought or homemade garam masala, full cardamom content
1 teaspoons ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup cashew nut
1 (16-ounce package) frozen chopped spinach or fresh spinach 300g
1/2 cup buttermilk, stirred until smooth
1 Tbsp Heavy Cream
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together the turmeric, cayenne, 1 teaspoon salt and 3 tablespoons oil. Gently, drop in the cubes of paneer and gently toss, taking care not to break the cubes if you're using the homemade kind. Let the cubes marinate while you get the rest of your ingredients together and prepped.
Place a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, and add the paneer as the pan warms. In a couple of minutes give the pan a toss; each piece of paneer should be browned on one side. Fry another minute or so, and then remove the paneer from the pan onto a plate. You may have to complete this step in two batches. Use the flavored oil for the next step.
Add 1 1/2 tablespoons oil to the pan. Add the onions, ginger, garlic and chili. Now here's the important part: saute the mixture until it's evenly toffee-coloured, which should take about 15 minutes. At 10 minutes, add tomatoes and press with spatula to make a paste. Don't skip this step - this is the foundation of the dish! If you feel like the mixture is drying out and burning, add a couple of tablespoons of water.
Add the garam masala, coriander and cumin. If you haven't already, sprinkle a little water to keep the spices from burning. Cook, stirring often, until the raw scent of the spices cook out, and it all smells a bit more melodious, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to blender and add cashews.
If using frozen spinach, thaw the spinach in the microwave in a microwave-safe dish, 5 minutes on high. If using fresh spinach, put fresh spinach into the blender and blend, adding water as needed to loosen mixture.
Add the spinach mixture back into pan and stir well. Add a little salt and 1/2 cup of water, stir, and cook about 5 minutes with the lid off. Add extra cayenne and garam masala at this step if necessary, but make sure to cook the mixture enough after to remove the raw spice smell.
Turn the heat off. Add the buttermilk and cream, a little at a time to keep it from curdling. Once the yogurt is well mixed into the spinach, add the paneer. Turn the heat back on, cover and cook until everything is warmed through, about 5 minutes.
