i think its my mental illness talking but i cant help thinking how unfiction/arg and pro wrestling are so similar at its core. like, theyre both unconventional method of storytelling that includes different art forms/mediums to tell a full story, relies so much on fan reactions to the point that it could make or break the story, and the "this is not a game" principle and kayfabe is literally the same thing in different clothing.

There was truly nothing worse than when Ghost roped you into agreeing to be his pretend enemy when he did his hand-to-hand combat training with his troops. Ghost preferred to demonstrate his lethality on someone who was resilient enough to take the blows and was trained enough to know how to safely take them. Why you agreed to it every time was a mystery, because you would go home at the end of the day and count all your new bruises. Last time, it was seven.
At the very least you weren’t alone. Soap has also fallen prey to this scheme more than his fair share. You and Soap had created a “Victims of Ghost” Club. It mostly consisted of you two texting each other to run and hide when Ghost began his training doll recruitment.
You could hold your own in a fight. Even against Ghost himself. However, this situation was different. You would be subjected to taking all the hits and tackles he needed to do for demonstration.
Today he was going over disarming and disorienting. His forte. Which meant a lot of being thrown on the ground and having your ass handed to you.
Ghost was explaining the purpose and importance of close combat when he signalled for you to join him on the mat. You positioned yourself at the front of the mat, with a plastic gun in hand. Standing as if you were on a watch. Feet slightly apart and gun poised.
He always started off by letting you know what moves to expect from him so you could prepare for it. The best you could. Then he would do a full run-through of the move, followed by a slowed down set-by-step explanation.
He began the training session with simple disarms. His motions were snappy and well-practiced, the gun was knocked to the floor and a hand was pinned behind your back. He moved like it was second nature to him.
“Sorry,” he said lowly, dipping down to your ear. Your heart dropped down to pulse between your legs.
This was why you kept saying yes.
You nodded, rubbing at your wrist where he had grabbed it and offered him a thumbs up. He returned the nod, eyes watchful. Once he was satisfied that you were truly fine, he proceeded to the step-by-step. He was extremely gentle when he did this, his hands ghosting across your body. A complete paradox from just moments before. Like when his fingers linger a second too long sometimes. Or when his thumb drew little circles on the bare skin of your wrist when he pinned it behind you once more.
Near the end of the session, you felt like you were going to burst into flames. The man radiated heat like he was a furnace and his proximity throughout the last hour has been torturous. That and every time he whispered apologies to you, you felt yourself melt a little more.
Only to be brought back to the cold earth when he announced the next disarming tactic and takedown. You had yet to decide if you hated or loved this next one.
Ghost turned back to you, “I’ll be going between your legs. Try and break your fall this time, would you?” he teased you about the last he taught this one in class he had moved in on you so fast you hardly had time to catch your fall. Your face had made friends with the floor that day.
If the situation was different the words “I’ll be going between your legs,” would have made you weak in the knees.
You glared over at him, “Go easy on me,” you had to force yourself to relax your muscles. It would make the fall hurt a little less. Once again you positioned yourself at the front of the mat, allowing a little extra space in the front of you this time. Since you’d be falling forward. You made sure you bent your knees and your grip on the gun lose.
Ghost tapped your left leg as he passed you, letting you know which leg he’d be attacking. It helped with knowing which direction you’d need to twist towards when falling.
He didn’t give any cues when he moved in. Aside from the quiet swish of fabric, he was nearly silent.
A foreign leg hooked around the lower half of yours, and a well-placed hand pushing at your back forced you to lose balance and teeter forward. It was instinct to toss the gun and bring your hands up in front of you. You were still free-falling when a large hand wrapped around the ankle of your right leg, redirecting your momentum to the side so you landed on your shoulder. By the time you were on the ground, you were facing him with your back to the floor. You struggled to catch your breath for a moment. The force of the fall had stolen the air straight out of your lungs. Ghost was kneeling over you, a hand placed into your chest to keep you to the ground. There was no pressure to the contact thought.
He kept his attention on you until you gave a reassuring tap to the arm pinning you down. He remained as he was to allow you extra time to regain composure. His eyes flicked between the group of soldiers and you as he decoded his motions for them. There was no anxiety behind his eyes, just a hushed concern. He knew you weren’t injured, but the fall was never pleasant and he was well aware of that.
He helped you back to your feet, squeezing your shoulder lightly before walking everyone through the action. This time when he hooked his leg around you there was no push or pulling. You still followed through with how it would have gone if it were happening at full speed. When he brought your right leg across his body so you were lying facing him once again, his watchful eyes were on you. Before he had to drag them away from you.
He allowed for the remaining time for the troops to use as practice. You made your way to your water bottle, needing the ice cold water to chill the heat in your core. Ghost trailed after you as he watched the soldiers try out all the different moves and techniques he showed them today.
“You’re going to have to go track down Soap for the next class,” You were half kidding.
“If you stop giving him a head start every time I try, I just might do that,” he fixed you with a bored look.
Of course, he knew.
You faked a shocked expression, “My loyalties lay with McTavish.”
“Then I’ll see you on friday,” he stated. He could pull rank on you, but you knew if you said “no”, he wouldn’t. He very very rarely pulled rank on you.
Tumblr media
Bonus of Ghost taking the legs off Soap
If there was one thing in this world that Simon had no issues throwing class and grace to the wind for, it was when someone challenged him. He also had no qualms about besting Soap in a fight. So when Soap told Ghost that he could take him down in a fight, Ghost rose to the occasion. A few members of the 141, including yourself, were in the training room when Soap contested that he could take on Ghost in a duel. To which he immediately denied the thesis. Much to no one’s surprise, Soap didn’t back down. Claiming that his agility was superior to Ghost’s resilience and power.
You and Gaz set up camp on the benches. Placing bets on how long Soap would last.
“No holding back on me,” Soap pointed a finger at the Brit before taking a ready position.
As soon as Ghost tapped at his chest, a silent sign to begin, Soap was moving. It looked promising for the first few punches. Ghost on heavy defence.
...It ended quickly.
He blocked one of Soap’s punches, deflecting the momentum to create an opening for himself. With a quick jab to the abdomen to disorientate, then a sweep of his foot, and a body check, Soap’s feet were above his head.
You sighed, hanging your head as you dug into your pocket to retrieve a few bills, “I thought he’d last a little longer,” you mopped as Gaz took the money from you.
“You gotta stop betting on the dofus.”
Across the room, Soap rolled over to his side, “That hurt.”
Ghost was already walking to the bench, “It’s supposed to. It’s an ass kicking,” he turned and pointed a finger at Soap in the same manner he had done to him just moments ago.

If AEIWM and TPOF take place in the same universe as the Kid's WB bumpers, does this make Jackie Chan a secret agent in their world's in addition to being Jackie Chan?
In TPOFATGIF, Para of the Paradox double act in duelist kingdom is a convoluted relative of famed exorcist "Uncle" Chan. Like Jackie, he's not *exactly* sure how he's related to Uncle but the old man has gotten him out of some serious jams so if Uncle calls, Para (actual name Hector) answers.
Tristan is a HUUUUGE Fan of Uncle's work, coming from a long line of Dungeoneers, and Hector knows Tristain's dad as "THE GUY WHO WRESTLED THAT YASHA APE SOMEONE WAS SMUGGLING THROUGH AN AIRPORT!! He's so badass."
Tristain: Yeah. Unfortunately, he's also a Jackass.

BSD 112: War and Peace
Now that the manga has finally caught up to the anime, I shall say that I am still pretty convinced Fyodor will pull a Jesus and be fine.
That said, I hella loved this chapter. The themes, man. Essentially Fukuchi is inviting Fukuzawa to become God, though I would NOT be surprised to see a certain new character show up considering this entire chapter is basically Fukuchi and Fukuzawa trading paraphrased quotes from A Certain Novel.
It's a battle of free will vs peace, and how we walk that line as individuals and societies... war is futile and hell, and pointless because what even is a state anyways besides some arbitrary idea we've all agreed to for... reasons, and yet if you remove the ability for war and conflict as a whole, you don't really have humanity but instead mind-controlled slaves.
Tumblr media
War is not a polite recreation, but the vilest thing in life, and we ought to realize this and not make a game of it... as it stands now it's the favorite pastime of the idle and frivolous.”
Tumblr media
Every action of theirs, that seems to them an act of their own freewill is in the historical sense not free at all but is bound up with the whole course of history and preordained from all eternity... Man lives consciously for himself, but serves as an unconscious instrument for the achievement of historical, universally human goals.
It's true that people are born where they are born, and caught up in the stories that are grander than they are. Everyone likes to imagine what they know and what they experience and what they want and believe is True, but is it? Or is it merely a product of how they've grown? Is it a product of the centuries and millennia of people before us who create wars and conflicts and use us in them?
Yes, humans are used as unconscious instruments. But is that all they are? All they should be? Fukuchi seems to think yes. If they're currently used as instruments of war, then why not use them. as instruments of peace?
Fukuzawa, however, thinks otherwise.
It's an existential question humanity has been wrestling over since human beings have existed, and it won't be answered anytime soon because there is no neat answer. It's the paradox of human nature and human existence.
Tumblr media
He had learned that, as there is no situation in the world in which a man can be happy and perfectly free, so there is no situation in which he can be perfectly unhappy and unfree.
Dictatorships are known, obviously, for suppressing free will and free expression.
Now, in War and Peace, Tolstoy's answer is love. And God, who is Love. But love first and foremost since Tolstoy himself wasn't super religious when writing it (later on he was though).
Seize the moments of happiness, love and be loved! That is the only reality in the world, all else is folly. It is the one thing we are interested in here.
Tumblr media
Yet, if you remove the ability to choose love or violence, then:
A man having no freedom cannot be conceived of except as deprived of life.
And it's pretty clear what lesson Fukuchi has to learn:
Life is everything. Life is God. Everything shifts and moves, and this movement is God. And while there is life, there is delight in the self-awareness of the divinity. To love life is to love God. The hardest and most blissful thing is to love this life in one's suffering, in the guiltlessness of suffering.
Life sucks. War is hell. It makes life feel like it's not worth living. But without free will, you are not alive at all.
For if we allow that human life is always guided by reason, we destroy the premise that life is possible at all.
Anyways, even if Leo Tolstoy does not appear as an actual character with the supreme ability of "War and Peace," well, he sure is influencing this arc a lot.

Does Gallifrey have anything in the way of football (or uh. Soccer apparently. That's a very silly name) or any other sports?
What sports and games are there on Gallifrey?
Gallifreyans have an absolute drought when it comes to physical/contact sports. The only real physical sport is ...
🏀 Zero-Grav Hyperball: Played with balls and rackets in a zero-gravity environment, Zero-Grav Hyperball probably resembles racquetball, space-style.
Other games and board games include ...
🎩 Perigosto Stick Game: A form of Time Lord juggling where players use their powers to keep a 4-dimensional rod with a sphere or cube at the end in motion, preventing it from falling back into normal space-time. Playing with it over the age of 90 is considered a bit lame.
♟️ Gallifreyan 4D Chess: Pieces move on three vertically stacked boards and can also move forwards and backwards in time. Forcing the opponent into creating a paradox is a common way to win.
🎴 Gallifreyan Chequers: Played with red and white pieces, including unique roles like President's Cardinal and Chancellor's Castellan.
🃏Gallifreyan Playing Cards: These have the suits Flames, Owls, Clouds, Souls, Deeps, Mesmers, and Dominoes, with the face cards being the Hand, the Duke, and the Rogue. A popular game is 5D Cribbage.
🧠 Mindbending (Time Lord Wrestling): A telepathic battle where contestants try to regress each other through their previous incarnations. Although a game, it can end in a deathlock if a contestant is pushed back to the point of looming, so it is considered dangerous.
🧩 Gallifreyan Labyrinth Game: The goal is to get opponents lost in a dimensionally transcendental maze and manipulate their movements by subconsciously training them to make certain turns. Gallifrey once had labyrinth games on every street corner.
🎲 Sepulchasm: Played on a board shaped like a mountain range, players use psychic powers to keep their pieces suspended over a chasm created by certain dice rolls. To win, you need to keep pieces in the air longer than your opponent.
🔮 Eighth Man Bound: An extreme rite of passage where students at the Academy use a symbiosonic generator to predict their future incarnations while their classmates chant their name ominously. It claims the lives of 15 Gallifreyan students every macrosemester.
🪐 Scratchin: Details unspecified, but it’s another popular Gallifreyan game.
🏫So ...
They don't engage in physical sports much; their focus is more on the mind and using their chronopsionic powers. Their games also have a bit of a fatality rate. Play safe.

"A central proposition throughout the course is that human rights cannot be separated from politics. Indeed, we cannot understand either why human rights abuses happen or how and why human rights have the power to improve human welfare without examining the political contexts in which efforts to mitigate abuses take place. Human rights are inseparable from the political, even if they are designed to be outside of politics. We will wrestle with that central paradox." This is taken from the course description for The Politics of Human Rights at Berkley. Link
In Young Royals, Wille at various points says that he cannot speak on political issues, even in class discussions, in private with his boyfriend or in selecting a charity to support. He contradicts this in his famous speech in season 2. However in season 3, he reverts to using this adage whenever he is asked to take a stand on anything, or when Simon wants to take a stand in his social media. He is wrestling with the political paradox this season.
This is because he is trying to separate the private from the public like Erik did: have a boyfriend and be the Crown Prince. Yet, he himself has previously figured out how things are wrong at his school and takes a stand to make a change. He has chosen a boyfriend who when he first hears him speak, is politically engaged and who, throughout the third season is trying to open Wille to political, social and human rights violations that he should care about (because he has shown Simon previously through his speech that he does care). From Simon's need to demonstrate because of his class, Wille's privilege, to his sexuality, Simon is reminding Wille of their shared values of wanting to make changes and stand up for what is right.
Importantly, Wille stops trying to push back at the Royal Court when the consequences of his speech is a threat of closure to his school, and the deteriorating health of his mother and the Queen of his country. The very real threat that he may need to be the monarch soon makes him dampen his true stances on matters close to his heart in order to ease his life as CP and his mother's role.
Along with Simon, Vincent in seasons two and three, unendingly engages in political debate. Many don't see past the distasteful way that Vincent speaks to the actual content of his dialogue. He complains that upending the hierarchy of the third years over the first years at the lunch table, is leading to chaos, as the first years won't give way for use of the showers, seats in the common room etc. They no longer know their place and this is disturbing the peace at Hillerska. Throughout season three, he questions Simon's politics at every opportunity to force both Wille and Simon (and the audience) to question their political and social positions and reason with how they could possibly be compatible.
Through both Simon and Vincent, the show is telling us in season three, that Wille can not continue to ignore these issues and must stop being passive and take an active stance.
Felice too, is engaging in the politics of race and class and where they intersect, for the audience to understand the show's interest in political stances/ taking a stand on issues one cares about.
Young Royals wants its audience to understand that politics is intertwined with their lives. Caring about each other and our rights to exist as free people to love and make choices and thrive, is what politics is. Making a stand in some way is how we use our own agency to change our circumstances, if we are able to, and the lives of others around us.
All the unanswered social discussions and open arguments that Wilmon still have to address individually and as a couple are once again, an example of how politics works in our lives. It is never a one and done thing. It continuously needs to be addressed and fought for and discussed to gain a better life for ourselves and others. This includes Simon, Wille and August's mental health. August has just recently had an epiphany (with Simon's help) about what is going on with him since both his father and Erik died. Simon and Wille still have to contend with how the outside world (society and the political stances that govern it) have affected their mental well-being. Having 'voted' with their feet (they both have 'left' the monarchy's fixed hold on them), they are now free to assign headspace to new and emerging life battles. They have learned and grown from their experience this year, with a new understanding of what they are capable of going forward. All five characters have.
(As I write this, trans children's human rights have been decided on by the UK government and the High Court's decision to block access to fundamental health - puberty blockers. Link Yes lgbtqia+ human rights should not be political, but the paradox is that they are. )

Overwatch Headcanons (based on the canon lore and several in-game events and things) that I really want to be true.
A lot of it is Junkers, sorry.
~~~~~
☆ Ever since April Fools, I love the thought that Roadhog watches 'mom shows.' (Oprah, Bachelor, Bachelorette, etc.) I also love to think he gets really into it, like he's dead silent and perfectly focused on the episode or he'll mutter stuff under his breath during The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. Like, "... how dare that sludge talk like that..." or "... you go girl, tell him off..."
☆ Cassidy: WHY DO YOU KEEP LOSIN YOUR KEYS, DANG NABBIT?!
Tracer: Why do you sound like a prospector when you're angry, cad flabbit?
☆ Hanzo snorts when he laughs too hard... thats it. But he'll deny it if someone hears it. Hard deny.
☆ Junkrat is the equivalent of that one guy in Ratatouille ("I killed a man, with this thumb." Can't remember his name for the life of me.) when anyone asks what happened to his finger. From 'Extreme Thumb Wrestling Gone Wrong' to the simple one answer that is 'Koalas.' No one truly knows what happened to his finger.
☆ Odessa doesn't know how to write. (Junkertown Education System.) But she does know how to draw just a bit. So when doing autographs, she doodles a tiny version of her. With little stars.
☆ Speaking of Junkertown and Australia in Overwatch, the place is basically like Mad Max and Fallout had a baby. Even Junkrat sees the difference between normal dirt and radioactive dirt. And thats just facts. If you look at the Junkertown map, you'll understand what I mean.
☆ Sombra was an orphan, she hadn't felt a familial bond until Sigma. Come on, the man is like a science dad. He has that energy. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't see him as family. Sigma is the only (from my current research (not counting Doomfists 'jefe.' Jefe justs means boss.)) one that has a consistent nickname that translates (sorry if its wrong) to 'Old Man.'
☆ Moira knows how to dance every single anime dance... no no no, you don't understand. Every. Single. One. Will she ever show it? No. Definitely not.
☆ Tracer has adhd. Not because of her ability. That's a stupid reason. It's cause she just... seems like she does you know?
☆ Junkrat actually has a love of singing. As shown in the random chatter he has and the interactions with Lucio, Jamie likes to sing. Although, from when he's demonstrating to Lucio, it kinda seems like he's nervous. The "Sausage Roll and Batter Sav" tune he sings isn't bad. He's just a silly little guy.
☆ Speaking of my favorite silly guy, Junkrat is actually smarter than people give him credit for. He can keep a conversation with Sigma, he knows Xenos Paradox, he gets Winstons Periodoc Table joke, it's just that he expresses himself differently. I mean he was theoretically raised in the radioactive outback, you're gonna wind up a bit weird. I think he partly hides his genius so no one can take advantage of it.
☆ Opposite of Junkrat, Roadhog seemingly has made friends with a lot of others. They're more willing to talk to him than the rat man. I mean, come on, Mako gets along with D.Va, Ana, Junker Queen, Kiriko (i think), and Lucio. Maybe Mercy as well, but I couldn't figure it out. I have a feeling that Roadhog thought that no one would like him cause he's scary, but everyone on the team just sees him as a gentle giant (which he honestly is, have you seen his cute little interactions and the plethora of Pachimari things he has?)
☆ Mercy really cares about those around her. So much so, that she believes (if going by some of her chatter is anything) anyone can be saved. Even Widowmaker. I'm guessing from what she had done with Genji, she had proved to herself that she could save anyone.
I always wonder what woud happen if bruce finally got what he wanted and got joker all figured out. Would he get bored of him? I think thats something that joker himself is scared of
It's definitely something Joker fears, yes. In Batman: Death of the Family, he basically jumps off a cliff rather than hear Bruce utter his name or his history, so panicked that he doesn't even consider that Bruce could be bluffing. As to Bruce figuring Joker out... hah. Arguably, he already has.
Bruce has always been obsessed with understanding Joker, and especially during his first decade as Batman. At the basis of it lies both a need for control and the hope that Joker could be rehabilitated, because if Bruce understands Joker, then maybe he could predict him and prevent his crime sprees. Perhaps Bruce could help Joker, have the leverage of Joker's humanity to use in order to reach him.
Tumblr media
Detective Comics #1027 -- Many Happy Returns
It's an essential component of their dynamic: Bruce desperately asking "why?" and Joker laughing in his face, symbolizing both Batman's need for constructing meaning and Bruce's need for connection and understanding. Something that Joker eternally resists.
Tumblr media
Batman (2016) #67 -- All The Way Down
But the paradox is that, at the same time, Bruce doesn't entirely want to figure Joker out. This is partly covered by a bigger pattern of behavior for Bruce that I talked about before-- the fact that, despite verbally supporting the rehabilitation of his Rogues, Bruce tends to be mean-spirited, distrustful and paranoid when it actually happens. In many ways he thinks of the Rogues as his; they're all in the dark, they're all wrestling with various kinds of demons, and Bruce includes himself in it. This is most apparent in Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth, in which Bruce's biggest fear is the fact Arkham would feel like home. So... if the Rogues truly rehabilitated, what then? Where would that leave him? Bruce has a crippling fear of abandonment as a consequence of losing his parents, and it extends to this.
It's true for Joker more than for anyone else, I suppose. Bruce refuses to let Joker die, even in bonkers circumstances in which his code would allow for it. He also has apparently known all along what he needs to do in order to... undo Joker. If Death of the Family established anything, it's that Bruce never needed to kill Joker in order to get him to stop. The end shows that Bruce knows Joker very well, and thus he knows that the thing Joker fears most is the ghost of his own past. All he needed to do was hint that he had uncovered Joker's history, and Joker basically committed suicide. Yet Bruce hasn't used this before, and he hasn't used it against Joker since.
But I absolutely need to mention the controversial and dubiously-canonical Batman: The Three Jokers (intended to be a spiritual successor to Batman: The Killing Joke) that explores the idea that Joker might've been separate people over time (but not really). This comic is disliked for very valid reasons, but it does something very interesting, at least in the realm of the hypothetical: it shows that Bruce has known who Joker was and where his family is all along. Coupled with the fact that this comic specifically connects The Comedian to New 52 and Endgame... it implies that at least in this story, Bruce wasn't bluffing when he said he knew Joker's real identity in Death of the Family.
But he doesn't use it. Not in Endgame, not in The Three Jokers. I talked about this story more extensively here, but the reasoning that he does it to protect Joker's hidden family is very weak, because Bruce could just omit the fact Jeannie and her child survived. If he's worried about the paper trail, it's ridiculous to assert that Batman doesn't have the resources to fake their death certificates or bury the clues. Hell, the press wouldn't need to find out, he could only tell the truth to Joker and watch him unravel as a result. But he doesn't! In his own words...
Tumblr media
Batman: The Three Jokers #3
So... this comic basically goes to show that Bruce wouldn't get bored if he figured out the "mystery" of Joker. Rather that he'd just keep it a secret, and maintain the status quo (even though it's painfully selfish and destructive of him to do so). And even if you see The Three Jokers as out of main continuity, Death of the Family remains as a testament to the fact Bruce knows Joker. He knows what might get Joker to stop, but he's only ever threatened it and never resorted to it since, despite seeing proof of it working.
At the end of the day, Bruce getting bored with Joker is unlikely. It would be a real possibility if their dynamic was based only on Bruce's curiosity and obsession regarding Joker, but it isn't. That's simply a component of it, one of the pillars. Bruce needs Joker in other ways-- bigger ways, that overshadow knowing Joker's name. Joker needs to remain an equal who can oppose Batman... and thus, he keeps coming back, whether he likes it or not. Bruce drags him with him; and I wish I was being metaphorical, but this is literally what Bruce did in Going Sane and the nebulous time between Batman (2011) #48 and Dark Days: The Casting.
The tragedy, though, is that Joker would never trust Batman to still be there outside of the murder and the mayhem he thinks Batman needs. The thought of Bruce caring about him outside of his Joker persona is an impossibility... because Joker utterly hates who he used to be, and sees no value in himself (or anything, for that matter). He can't comprehend Bruce valuing him as a human being, worth knowing or saving.
Okay but with the return of Goth!Ingo I have to ask the the question: which type does he use as a star boss? Is it ghost? Also the untaped comedy of Akari just like visiting Stargo every other day because she needs to stay updated on teen Ingo's sheniganery!
How do the starbosses react to Ingo's gremlin of a (niece or daughter Ingo doesn't know, but is this a dad or uncle Ingo timeline?) sister and her weirdness!
Also you have both past and future paradox mon in their new teams: so is it like a two professor situation? Are there to ai professors with to crystal encased time machines like right across from each other at the bottom of A0? Does arven have to deal with his two neglectful parents and their still somehow divorced AIs? The concept is so funny to me
He's a ghost type specialist! His ace is his Ceruledge- it's purple flames remind him of something... perhaps of the Pokemon that wielded purple flames with mastery that he vaguely remembers from his time before Hisui. He does have a Grafaiai on his team, but it's Tera type is ghost, so it doesn't break the ghost theme.
And yup, Akari just comes to visit Ingo's base whenever she wants! Sometimes uninformed newbies try and stop her, thinking she's a base raider, but well... Akari just stomps them into the ground. She didn't survive Hisui to lose to someone with a level 10 Gastly, thanks. Ingo, of course, just lives at the base. He has a dorm room! He chooses to live at the base. It's nice. The dorm room is too comfy and they won't let Lady Sneasler roam the halls :(.
Team Star generally likes Akari. They don't trust her at first because she seems like a straight-laced student but then they see her wrestle with the world's weirdest Arcanine and decide she's chill. Also she has the gods of space and time in pokeballs so they recognize it's best not to mess with. whatever that is.
It is a two professor situation! Turo and Sada don't split up in this AU and work together to make a time machine... and die together. Oops. So yes, there's two AIs... which means the final battle against them is a Double Battle. :)
But in reality, wouldn’t Regal turning on Mox to help MJF win the title be redundant? Like wouldn’t that be the complete opposite of having Max “earn it”? (Both the title and His Lordship’s respect).
Like even if Mox drops the title to MJF at Full Gear why would Regal turn on Mox? Like, every other member of the BCC has lost a title or title shot(s) and nothing ever points abandonment or being “kicked out” because of it.
If something that big were to happen it shouldn’t come out of nowhere — and I feel like Regal turning like would be a waste of the BCC of a group AND so many potential storylines down the line (i.e. The Elite -I’m including Hangman in this too - vs BCC)
Like I get the idea of His Lordship managing Max in some capacity but MJF doesn’t need him. He doesn’t need a mouth piece or manager - he’s fine alone.
I feel like they’re mirroring Mox and Regal from FCW to some extent and the idea of Regal cheating for MJF doesn’t make sense to me.
to anon who sent me the previous two asks,
i understand. for all the spitefulness i might sometimes feel about the nature of anonymous messages in this or that way, the 'selfish' position i imagine it taking up with relation to my being -- it's not like i can deny the situational usefulness of anonymity. when it dares to present itself, when it is in a situation where it even presents itself as a feasible option, it also tends to naturally assert itself as almost necessary. of course, there is still a central vulnerability to anonymity. it is not a one-way street. i always felt a kind of shame in being anonymous. i do not mean that anonymity is 'cowardly', to be contrasted with just 'bravely' letting yourself exist out in the open or what-not. but for the person embroiled in it, there's a vulnerability to choosing to be anonymous at all. it's what makes it still so painful when, for instance, an anonymous message is mocked or poorly received. you cannot ever scrub yourself entirely. you still know i think about it with the intensity of someone who spent a lot of their years perversely valuing & craving the words of strangers precisely because i did not know them. i don't know, though. there's only so much that can be extracted from or about it. maybe the most crucial observation is just: i write all of my posts from the perspective of a general observership, a viewer. for any iota of expression, i instinctively presuppose judgement. each sentence is contrasted with how i imagine an omnipotent force might impersonally but viciously tear into my pronunciation of that sentence, and it is iteratively amended until i imagine there either being no room for such viciousness, or allow myself to feel that such a viciousness would, in a sense, be 'unjustifiable'. this observership is both far from being abstract, spread across a great number of things, & far from being concrete, individual. it is a gestalt consciousness -- and i think many people do have this vague quality of 'the gaze', habitually lodged in their minds. but here is, i think, the difference: my gestalt consciousness can, and often does... talk back to me! really! and that can be pretty scary sometimes!
while writing the last reply. i was half-worried that it was not vague, was not 'obfuscating' enough with respect to your expression. but i am glad that it is at least sufficient. tentatively sufficient, if nothing else.
right, right. i guess it is a bit dumb that, with 'textual', i ran with the assumption of... the literal act of communicating via text. i had considered 'textual' as a reflection of interconnectedness. or, rather, people as a reflection of textuality. but i thought it vague enough that i would rather have suffered the crime of wrongness via generalization rather than wrongness via specificity.
thank you. i do not really feel myself capable of taking responsibility for compliments or kindness which comes my way. i assign it to the kind nature of people which only happens to be directed arbitrarily in my direction. or, if i accept that it is a unique kindness, i feel that the thing complimented or valued is a quality not entirely my own. wrestled away or conjured or otherwise not 'innately' within me -- and thus, the compliment lingers through me like a ghost. this has always felt paradoxically selfish to me. as if, by constantly insistingly humbling myself in a kind of perverted altruism, i am taking other people's kindness & negating it, leaving it with no outlet, ruining it, taking it for granted. i will attempt to not take your kindness & appreciation for granted.
i forgive you for not being ready yet, even though i do not think you need to be sorry. it is okay. thank you for reaching out. much love.
WHAT IS THE BLACK HOLE INFORMATION PARADOX??
Blog#256
Saturday, December 24th, 2022
Welcome back,
A black hole’s event horizon is the ultimate last-chance saloon: beyond this boundary nothing, not even light, can escape. But does this “anything” include information itself? Physicists have spent the best part of four decades grappling with the “information paradox”, but a group of researchers from the UK thinks it can offer a solution.
Tumblr media
The researchers have created a theoretical model for the event horizon of a black hole that eschews space–time altogether. Their work also supports a controversial theory proposed in 2010 suggests that gravity is an emergent force rather than a universal fundamental interaction.
The information paradox first surfaced in the early 1970s when Stephen Hawking of Cambridge University, building on earlier work by Jacob Bekenstein at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, suggested that black holes are not totally black.
Tumblr media
Hawking showed that particle–antiparticle pairs generated at the event horizon – the outer periphery of a black hole – would be separated. One particle would fall into the black hole while the other would escape, making the black hole a radiating body.
Hawking’s theory implied that, over time, a black hole would eventually evaporate away, leaving nothing. This presented a problem for quantum mechanics, which dictates that nothing, including information, can ever be lost. If black holes withheld information forever in their singularities, there would be a fundamental flaw with quantum mechanics.
Tumblr media
The significance of the information paradox came to a head in 1997 when Hawking, together with Kip Thorne of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in the US, placed a bet with John Preskill, also of Caltech. At the time, Hawking and Thorne both believed that information was lost in black holes, while Preskill thought that it was impossible. Later, however, Hawking conceded the bet, saying he believed that information is returned – albeit in a disguised state.
Tumblr media
At the turn of this century, Maulik Parikh of the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, together with Frank Wilczek of the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, US, showed how information could leak away from a black hole. In their theory, information-carrying particles just within the event horizon could tunnel through the barrier, following the principles of quantum mechanics. But this solution, too, remained debatable.
Now, Samuel Braunstein and Manas Patra of the University of York in the UK think they have formulated a tunnelling theory that looks rather more attractive than Parikh and Wilczek’s theory.
Tumblr media
“We cannot claim to have proven that escape from a black hole is truly possible,” they explain, “but that is the most straightforward interpretation of our results.
Normally, theorists dealing with black holes have to wrestle with the complex geometries of space–time arising from Einstein’s theory of gravitation – the theory of general relativity. In their model, Braunstein and Patra say that the event horizon is purely quantum mechanical in nature, with bits of quantum “Hilbert” space tunnelling through the barrier.
idk if this makes any sense, but.
so recently, i've seen the following interpretation floating around: whenever kenny talks about don being family in his promo and stuff, and whenever he makes it clear that BCC crossed a line now because they hurt somebody who can never reasonably consent to what the elite is used to, he is in reality not talking about don at all, or at least, the work is commenting on kenny lying or using don as a sort of mental scapegoat for the people he actually cares about [insert names here, in this case from most people i have seen it being hangman], because this is juxtaposed with kenny accepting the screwdriver from matt (who says "for hangman?").
and it made me think.
because a) there's precedent for this: especially as a heel (right now i'd say the elite are in the process of being faces again), kenny has a tendency to avoid (especially the names of) people close to him, or transpose the pain or caring he associates with those people onto something else (championships, matches, other responsibilities). everyone remembers "AJ styles, prince devitt, and who?" but there are a couple of other examples. notably, as the collector, he put so much emphasis on him and don; it was always "me and don, we are family", "don this, don that", instead of mentioning or talking what was really going on (his tensions with the bucks). later this would even spill onto other characters (saying that him and the good brothers make a really good trio/team, which is just explicit enough to pass as commentary on kenny's avoidance of the bucks at that point).
and b) i feel almost like if this were another medium, like a theater play or a book, there could very reasonably be a twist that don isn't real. that his existence is a product of kenny's psyche as he tries to avoid confronting reality (sort of like some apparitions in silent hill). that by focusing so much on don, it's easier for kenny to blend out the things that would cause him to otherwise shatter into a million pieces. he always styled himself as an "unstoppable android", and a machine needs a version of reality parsed through its OS that allows it to march on in spite of how frightening the actual happenings behind the veneer of said OS are. in a way, it could be said that don is kenny's OS rn. don is still his own person who does things kenny wouldn't do or doesn't do things he would do, but it would imo fit with kenny's arcs that often thematically feature isolation and self-hatred, to "invent" a companion who has totally always been your bestest buddy since you were 6 years old and played the invisible strings to help you be where you are now.
don entered the stage as a true character in the elite's story around the jericho feud back in new japan, but it wasn't until the collector that he was heavily cemented by kenny as an important existence, someone whom he had secretly plotted with "for years" in order to orchestrate his belt-hunting run (among other things), and by then he began interacting with other characters in way that deviated from our then current understanding of kenny's morals and ideas, despite how close the two claimed to be. i've written before about how to me, the collector is a paradoxical being and the final manifestation of all the ugly and dark parts inside kenny that he couldn't exorcise, "much, much worse" than the cleaner could ever be. think if the cleaner is a juvenile street thug, the collector is the boss in his penthouse making a fortune off of people's suffering.
but, it's important to remember that kenny isn't fundamentally evil. he has gone on record in character to state that it was his own fear of confronting his darker feelings about ibushi that pushed him towards joining bullet club and turning into the "pitch-black devil" he became. heartbreak makes a villain, etc. it's not that boilerplate simple, humans are complicated beings even (especially) in wrestling, and that is also true for kenny's story in AEW, which started to take a turn for the worse as soon as he started tagging with hangman. the collector is paradoxical because he both wants to and doesn't want to exist, because he thinks the things he's doing are necessary and cruel at the same time, because he desires what he fears and fears what he desires (finding true fulfillment in tagging, hangman becoming champion, corrupting the bucks, the list goes on). it would make sense to me if such a being required a mental shield to focus on and withstand the pressure of the two sides of the paradox constantly pulling at your psyche, threatening to destroy it. as it fits within his own machinations, don is the perfect candidate for that.
now, this isn't to say i think kenny is going to turn heel again because there is an increased emphasis on him and don "being family" again. it's just a piece of the text that i find interesting to analyze. even if kenny doesn't turn, in order to inflict upon BCC the brutality that they inflict on people you care about, you have to go to some pretty dark places. and every time kenny does go to such places, the past has shown that he pushes others away so that his true feelings—kindness, compassion, an arrogance that's more a beautiful sibling of pride than an ugly child of hurt—do not get in the way. it just depends on how he emerges on the other side once said brutality is inflicted.
either way, i have to imagine that under normal circumstances, when/if (?) the thing happens that finally tips the bucket over and causes kenny to shake off all that hair dye from 6 years ago and see don for the fucked up manipulator of himself and his friends that he is, it's going to deal a pretty heavy blow to him. it's not too dissimilar to an abusive relationship: from the outside it's so easy to see and go "oh this guy is a grade a asshole, they need to dump him already", but when you're in it, it's everything but easy.
i say normal circumstances because i have a feeling that the way this is actually going to be resolved in the work is going to involve some kind of hook that if not fully, at least partially avoids such shattering of the mind. that could be a number of things: the "betrayal" (really that's been going on for years, but see above) being so brutal and surprising that kenny's mind snaps right from heartbroken into justified, or the situation involving a bright light that makes it much easier to bear. i'll leave it up to you to decide who or what that's gonna be.
thanks for coming to my ted talk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thoughts on Brute Bonnet and Iron Hands?
Tumblr media
On a scale of "bland, boring Violet paradox" (Virizion, Hydreigon, etc.) to "actually creative Violet paradox" (Iron Valiant, Miraidon, etc.), I'd say Iron Hands is right in the middle. It's different enough from Hariyama to have some flair to it, but ultimately is still somewhat underwhelming.
Visually, I like the detached hands a lot. It makes sense for Hariyama's design and adds a cool bit of functionality that, unlike some other future paradoxes, is actually visible in the design itself and not just the animations. Adding the LED "pads" on the underside helps draw attention to them with the bright color, and the connecting spots are a nice touch.
In addition, it has a few other changes from Hariyama. The colors have been reduced down from orange, yellow, cream, and blue to just grey, yellow, and blue, which simplifies the palette a bit. The marking on the stomach goes down onto the legs, and the blue on the head is now a solid diamond shape instead a V shape like the original. The ears are also now a tube shape.
Tumblr media
None of these changes are bad, but I do think many of them are arbitrary: the grey extending onto the legs is too low-contrast and makes the middle bar mostly pointless, and the blue on the head causes it to lose Hariyama's chonmage (sumo) hairstyle. I'd rather have arbitrary changes than it being too similar, granted, but I do wonder if there was more room to explore here beyond just the hands.
For example, sumo is an ancient form of wrestling—things like Hariyama's belt reference the sumo tradition of wearing traditional Japanese clothing, for example. Rather than just making elements like the belt robotic, I feel like the traditional sumo elements could have been lost (similar to how the topknot is now gone) to reflect more modern forms of wrestling. As is, the hands and design changes make it different enough; it just could've been pushed a little more.
Tumblr media
Brute Bonnet is described as a "dinosaur crossed with a mushroom", though honestly, I barely see any dinosaur elements in it save for the four legs and tail. Regardless, it does have one main thematic element; the addition of prehistoric plant matter around its cap to reflect its grass typing. This doesn't have a lot to do with Amoonguss' original Pokeball theme, but it does at least give it something that immediately differentiates it from the original.
It also has a few other changes; the cap on the head is flatter and has spikes, the "beak" is now jagged, and it has colored rings under its eyes. All of this serves to further distance it from Amoonguss, and works to give it a more feral look.
Visually, I don't have any real issues with it; only that I feel like two legs might've made more sense than four, given that the extra pair doesn't add much to the design.
However, similar to Iron Hands, I do wonder if the concept could've been pushed more. Foongus' Scarlet 'dex entry implies pokeballs were based on it instead of the other way around, but I still wonder if the mimicry idea could've been pushed more. Patterns and colors that are appealing to other Pokemon could take hundreds of thousands of years to evolve; maybe you could see the start of the pattern on Brute Bonnet, but it's not as perfect as it is in the modern day. Or perhaps it resembles an older kind of Pokeball, like how the Hisuian Voltorb line works. Not a big deal as the design we got is still perfectly good; just something to think about.
Tumblr media
Overall, both of these Pokemon are decent, though I wouldn't call either of them top of their class. Iron Hands is different enough from Hariyama, but could've been pushed even further; Brute Bonnet is serviceable but could've explored its theme more. Between the two, Brute Bonnet is better, but both are perfectly fine.
Personality Notes:
Zoe's personality and work behavior is blend of her mentors plus her own, primarily the eccentric Alexander Noble, the studious and highly intelligent Zelena Valdez, the gentle and quiet Jason Gideon, the emotionally closed off, driven, and brutal David Rossi, and the near sociopathic and violent Maze Valdez.
She can be a bit manipulative in her pursuits of getting the outcomes she wants which she learned from Gideon
Because of her ADHD, she can be oblivious to the feelings of others sometimes but makes a conscious effort to keep them in mind
Zoe's way of dealing with events are complicated, she has a lot of trauma for a nineteen-year-old girl and one of her ways of protecting herself is mentally blocking the memories so she's missing time. The first time was five days when she was twelve. And she's missing a lot of memories of those eight months when she was fifteen and missing some memories during the six months when she was seventeen to eighteen.
Zoe is and appears to be impulsive but this does not mean she does not have a plan in motion, she's just constantly forming possible plans and calcualting possible outcomes in her head.
Due to her neurodivergence, Zoe relates to the UnSubs, she rarely sees them as monsters, she remains open-minded and sees possibilties of good and bad in people. She doesn't see things in black and white but in color.
Tendencies: Mania, Depressive episodes, Being an overachiever to distract herself from her guilt; Recklessness to the point of concern for suicidal behavior; Apathetic facade
Personality Type: INFP (Her anger comes from a defense mechanism that she uses to push people away to keep her from getting hurt again and her combination of disorders
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Abilities: Bilingual (Fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese; not fluent but well-versed in multiple other languages; She can speak most languages but she can’t read them.)
Self-Defense/Martial Arts (Most kinds; Karate, Kick-boxing, Jiu-Jitsu, Kung fu, Tai-Chi, Qigong, , Krav Maga, Fencing, Jeet Kune Do, Jun Fan Gung Fu, Wing Chun, Arnis, Judo, Savate, Taekwondo, Tai Chi, Catch Wrestling, Street fighting, Hapkido, Aikido, Northern Shaolin, Wrestling, Ninjustsu, Military Combatives, Capoeira, Close Quarter Combat/CQC, Systema, Muay Thai, Eskrima, Savate, Bokator, etcetera.
Favors Mixed Martial Arts and Hybrid Martial Arts due to unpredictability. She does have her favorite that she uses to mix into hybrids either from the style or the philosophy, Krav Maga (Aggressiveness, fighting-spirit, situational awareness, , Judo (Gentle, kindness, balance, timing, strategy, tactics), Taekwondo (Demands sacrifices, self restraint, kindness, forgiveness and a love of one's fellow human beings; Self-control, courage, courtesy, respect, perseverance, patience, humility, thoughtfulness, boldness, trustworthiness, loyalty, integrity, an indomitable spirit, a sense of responsibility to help and respect all forms of life, goodness), Shaolin (Kindness, Compassion, patience, discipline, self-awareness, loyalty, trust, perseverance, patience, self-control, benevolence, discipline, mindfulness, acceptance.), Eskirma (see below), Savate, etcetera
Also favors Eskrima (A form of weapon-based fighting, using various improvised weapons) (Possibly value creativity and imagination), Bokator (Characterized by hand to hand combat along with heavy use of weapons, using a diverse array of elbow and knee strikes, shin kicks, submissions, and ground fighting. Some of the weapons used in bokator include the bamboo staff, short sticks, a sword, and a lotus stick.), Savate (A French kickboxing combat sport that uses the hands and feet as weapons  combining elements of English boxing with graceful kicking techniques, despite its grave and beauty its an effective method of self-defense; Possibly value technique, Endurance, Strength, Grace)
Weapon Proficiency (Archery, Knife Combat, Gunfighting, Swordsmanship, Stick-fighting, etc)
Gymnastics
High intelligence (estimated to be in the 200’s; Claims she never took an IQ test; if she did only very few people know the score)
Detective brain (Sherlock Scan, look on TVtropes.org under real life, people with ADHD or ADD develop this way of thinking to compensate for our short attention spans, and we can use it to figure out what we've missed after zoning out, whether, at school or work or conversations. This can likely bleed into other aspects of our lives, resulting in people who can connect things together and figure things out before the average neurotypical person, unfortunately due to our tendency to be oblivious/distracted/unfocused, this will also make us miss things that are completely obvious to other people)
Exceptional Memory — Zoe has an exceptional memory, even being able to remember being in the womb at times and it was once thought she had Hyperthymesia however her ADHD made it unable to determine if this was actually true. It was also unable to determine whether she had a photographic or eidetic memory as she claims to be able to see images from her past at times but can also quite recall small details. Due to her ADHD, moments where she just wasn’t paying attention fall flat to her memory but she does however excel in remembering scenes in which she was hyper focusing, auditory memory, and is speculated to have an emotional photographic memory. Zoe also has psychological blocks in her memories that cause her to be unable to remember a lot of her trauma and she is unwilling to remember unless absolutely necessary.
Auditory memory (Like Spencer’s eidetic memory but with hearing information rather than seeing or reading them; but again her ADHD may impair this)
Emotional Photographic Memory — Zoe does not remember those five days in 1998 she was kidnapped but she does remember vividly remember the strong emotions she felt and refuses to remember them. Her memory of her missing eight months when she was fifteen and parts of her six months when she was eighteen/nineteen is better and more vivid due to the maturity she had gone through and at times she is able to replay hidden memories if she follows the feeling in her head.
Relationships:
Alexander Noble — She has a close relationship with her father as both her mother and sister are now gone, he raised her and her sister by himself while becoming one of the FBI's most esteemed agents and he loves her with all his heart. He shows more emotion in this aspect than she does as she suffers from emotional detachment, dissociation, and lack of connection between thoughts, memory, and self of identity from four years prior. However, his enhanced emotions and his job caused him to be too paranoid to leave them with a sitter when he would leave so he brought them with him which exposed them to the reality of the worse of humanity and Zoe was even kidnapped when she was twelve.
Zarah Carina Noble-Valdez – Despite being total opposites, they had been close until they were kidnapped and put in different locations, to the point that they could sense each other's emotions and more importantly when something was wrong. However, Zoe had managed to escape and injure her captive while Zarah hadn't been seen in four years.
Zelena Lara Valdez — Zelena died while in labor with Zoe (Zarah had been born first on October 28, when an UnSub revealed to be acting as a nurse and Alexander was forced to take the newborn Zarah and flee while the UnSub kidnapped the still in-labor Zelena and by extension Zoe. Alexander found them three days later with Zelena near dead from an axe to the chest before she died in his arms, and they had to perform an emergency C-section on Zelena's corpse before Zoe died in the womb (within 24 to 36 hours).
Senior Special Agent Jason Gideon — Zoe has a fatherly/uncle-like relationship with Gideon as her parents helped open the BAU with him despite their younger age. She shows some traits she's picked up from him as the ability to remain calm in cases and under pressure and paying close attention (when her ADHD isn't acting up and distracting her) to her surrounding environment—visual or audible or otherwise though a lot of times she's not aware that she's noticed it. Like him she has difficulties letting go of the past and she cares deeply not only for her co-workers but for the victims of the cases she works but can seem insensitive at times. However, she isn't as soft-spoken as this more aptly described Zarah but Zoe can be seen as soft-spoken due to her mood swing-like personality. She isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in, even when held at gunpoint. She also shows similarities as her only willing to share her true self to those she trusts with time and wanting to make a difference in the world by helping others. She also has a tendency to "teach" in situations, rather than do or explain though this could also be seen as another example of her rebelliousness and being closed off from others. Unlike Spencer, she has learned from Gideon on how to predict possible outcomes even in a simple chess game. However, her biggest difference from Gideon who sometimes worries about how the cases can affect him psychologically and emotionally, Zoe needs to be working on a case out of boredom and her guilt complex.
David Stephen Rossi (“Retired”🙄)— Zoe has a rather odd relationship with Rossi as opposed to her warm father/uncle type with Gideon. She has more of a sarcastic, banter relationship with Rossi that could be mistaken for contempt but Rossi sees Zoe as a daughter figure and Zoe even had a good relationship with all three of his ex-wives and she frequently makes fun that he's had three of them. They both grow restless if they're not solving possible. Zoe will mention that Rossi had grown bored of reading her and Zarah bedtime stories and talked about the cases to them which fascinated Zoe even at a young age. However, they clash in how they work, Rossi is quite by the book while Zoe would like to throw the book into a supernova because she disagrees with it and plays by her own rules. Rossi is more of a neat freak who color codes his notes while Zoe is messy and chaotic yet sees sense in her mess; she even messes with him with this. Rossi is more extroverted while Zoe keeps her emotions to her chest (however she wasn't always like that).
They are both very stubborn and more prone to brutal approaches than wasting time with being vauge. Zoe's intelligence surpasses Rossi while he is by no means dumb, this was clear by early as age three when she became better at crosswords than he was much to his irritation.
When you meet Rossi, it's clear that he is where Zoe had picked up her knack for pushing UnSub's buttons and her brutal undercutting their egos and her stabbing at their insecurities until they bleed. Despite Rossi being like a father to her, she is not unaware of his past negative traits, she knows his second wife's secret and cares very much for her. She is aware that it's not the right thing to do to never tell Rossi but knew Rossi's ambition in his early life would interfere and she didn't know if he would give it up.
Max Ryan (Retired) — Zoe isn't as close to Max Ryan as she is to Gideon or Rossi but they do have a bond due to her fascination with true crime.
Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner — She has a somewhat conflicted relationship with Hotch while they do get along and care and respect one another (not that she'd ever admit that) her tendency to rebel and disobey orders (though she usually does this because she genuinely believes it's for the greater good) doesn't match up with his dedication to duty and planning. However, Hotch does care deeply for Zoe, having known her since she was ten years old. She is possibly the only person who works almost as much as he does. Unlike him, she has a close relationship with her father but also knows her fair share of familial abuse which she would fight back or take for the good of others.
Derek Morgan — With him only being twelve years older than her, he has a kind of older brother relationship with her though neither would really care to admit this. They see a pain in one another that the other can relate to. They're both rather reckless and would give their lives to save others, though while Derek chooses flirtations and meaningless sex to cope with the pain of his past and what he does for a living, Zoe has shut down, her emotions hidden behind a wall even to her and fakes apathy, remaining usually antisocial and unimpressed with people flirting with her, traumatized by what was done to her in her childhood that she often feels that people who find her attractive only want something from her.
Doctor Spencer Reid — Zoe and Spencer get along really well as they are both very different from one another yet similar. Zoe is more of a pessimist than Spencer who prefers to be an optimist. They both have a darkness in their past that inspired them to pursue a job in the FBI, concerning mental health (Spencer's was his mother and Zoe's was her experiences from being a famous FBI agent's daughter). They both have a unique ability in this job and it's not their high intelligence but their uncanny ability to empathize with criminals and not see them as monsters but as people.
His intelligence is more for the traditional kind of way with books and reading while Zoe remembers things through either experiences or hearing. She's also more comfortable with technology than he is, implicitly being along the same skills as Penelope Garcia but she prefers doing field work.
They both take an empathetic approach with the UnSubs, trying to understand them better as humans rather than see them as monsters (though Zoe may occasionally do this). They're both open-minded, empathetic, deeply intelligent, and compassionate.
Penelope Garcia — Zoe was indifferent to Garcia at first due to Garcia's vibrant, bubbly, outgoing personality, likely because it reminded Zoe of Zarah. But she does begin to care about her and warm up to her. However, it can be interpretative that she has some respect for her as Zoe never boasted about her own hacking skills which actually surpassed Garcia's, though she preferred to be in the field.
Jennifer "JJ" Jareau — Zoe is close to JJ as she is the closest woman to her age and they have a few things in common with their experience of a tragedy with a sister despite this they're both caring and look out for others around them and if it came down to helping a friend, they would both shoot someone in the head and not even blink.
Non-BAU Relationships:
Joy Montgomery — Zoe was only a year old when Hayden found out she was pregnant and told Alex and accidentally Zoe (who despite being one had the cognitive understanding of an eight year old) so Zoe is well aware of Joy’s existence and never told Rossi. Joy is like a litter sister to Zoe.
J.D. — J.D. is Zoe’s ex-boyfriend who she met in Paris when she was sixteen; he is a genius like her. He has a lot of qualities that happen to be like Spencer’s but this is irrelevant. J.D. likes to read, he’s a genius with an IQ of 185, he had a parent with a major disorder but there are also a lot of things that are different from Spencer, like he is a criminal and is locked up in a classified high-max prison. Zoe however doesn’t see him as a monster as most would with what he did, she still cares about him and they have a unique bond.
Emily Prentiss — Zoe knew Emily through her father as personal favorite agent of her mother's, Elizabeth Prentiss, American Ambassador, Zoe was six while Emily was twenty-one and in college. Zoe and Zarah impressed Emily with their intelligence, Zoe, particularly due to her exceptional memory and her ability to understand Emily's college-level courses, especially in Criminal Justice and Criminology as she showed to have a passion for it, though was also talented in science yet oddly struggled with math (as she claimed they hurt her head and she'd rather be tortured). Zoe worked with Emily sometimes while she was in Europe with her Aunt Maze while getting experience to be able to apply to BAU and Zoe is aware of Emily’s mission but has never told anyone.
Valdez Family — While she is a bit embarrassed by them due to their overprotectiveness and paranoia due to what happened to Zelena and Zoe’s former heart condition and most of them being involved with some form of law enforcement. She does love them deeply and maintains the Valdez family beliefs of never needing a man; being strong, wise, brave, and tricky; being fierce and unwilling to let any man break them; being a warrior; a woman (most Valdezes were women despite what geneticists say) who can strike fear in people (usually men) by just their smile; Refusing to let someone else fight for them and pick up the sword themselves; to be a force to be reckoned with. But she doesn’t really like for her friends to meet them due to their tendency for mostly unprovoked violence.
Inspirations: Alex Russo (Wizards on Waverly Place); Mabel Mora (Only Murders in the Building); Sherlock Holmes (BBC Sherlock), The Tenth Doctor, Buzzfeed Unsolved boys (The dynamic Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara—the team needs someone to make some sarcastic/sardonic humor in the darkness of this show), Chloe Decker (Lucifer), Rosa Diaz (Brooklyn 99), Amy Santiago (Brooklyn 99), Mazikeen/Maze (Lucifer)
Etymology:
Xiomara — Spanish — Battle Ready; Battle Famous, Horse Worthy, Most Beautiful Star in the Universe; Inner Beauty
Alexandra — Latin — Man's Defender, Defender of Man; Defender of People; Defender of Mankind; Man's Protector; Protector of Man; Protector of People; Protector of Mankind
Zoe — Greek — Life
Notes: Zoe and Zarah are not true identical twins, she and Zarah are mostly identical but if one were to do a thorough examination and know what they were looking for, they would find some minor differences between Zoe and Zarah. Zarah is slightly taller than Zoe with straighter hair while Zoe has more wavy/curly hair. Zarah is slightly tanner than Zoe while Zoe is more pale. Zarah has brown eyes while Zoe has an amberish hue to them.
Zoe and Zarah are technically “Irish Twins”, meaning they were born on separate days.
Zoe's IQ is while unmeasured (since the age of twelve, albeit unofficially and taken by force and again at sixteen) is higher than Zarah's who is estimated around 160 to 190.
Zoe had extended periods of her life where she has no memory of or have rewritten the memory of in her head, even with time blocking out her realization that she has missing time.
I’m not a genius on Bipolar because I don’t have it. My mom thought I had it when I was younger and I was tested and somehow we ended up at dyslexia which no one did anything about and I can only speculate what kind(s) it is. Anyway, Zoe might be all over the Bipolar chart or may not seem to have it, but I feel this could be realistic given the life that you’ll learn about and this may be explained that the doctors can’t give an accurate diagnosis of what specific Bipolar she has. But her cyclothymia is somewhat stable though she tends to have symptoms of the “psychotic” level of the highs and lows, such as suicidal behavior from either depression or “mania” or hallucinations or delusions, though these are under control and take for as either guides to guide her through her life if taken the form of someone she likes or as warning if in the form of an enemy.)
I’ve also considered disorders on the Schizophrenia spectrum, as I said, the true diagnosis is foggy due to her missing time, memories, refusal to share her thoughts or trauma, and the exact trauma inflicted upon her but I’ve been looking up some disorders that could explain her hallucinations. Schizoaffective is what I’m currently leaning for (it’s kind of like a combination of Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder), as stated above, PTSD or more likely, due to the continuous trauma, C-PTSD (complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). I’ve settled on a combination of ADHD, PTSD, Cyclothymia and Borderline Personality Disorder
Zelena being attacked by an axe-murderer while pregnant with Zoe is inspired by New Orleans Axeman victim, known as Mrs. Ed Schneider who was allegedly attacked by the Axeman and she successfully gave birth but this baby's identity is unknown (One Reddit user claims the identity is Clara Schneider)
*I changed "PTSD" to "C-PTSD" because PTSD is more towards singular event and Zoe has so much more truama.*
If there are any inconsitencies or incomplete sentences as this was a work in progress for a year, please let me know.
