Went on a beautiful wetland walk yesterday with some friends. We saw a little woodpecker, ducklings, and a type of heron I’ve never seen before. There was all colors of dragonflies flitting over the water like jewels.

Salmon berries were abundant and tempting along the trail. It’s early in the season but a few huckleberry bushes were ripe too, and both my friends were surprised when I stopped to nibble. Neither knew they were edible.

We stood on the warm shaded path indulging the bear instinct to consume berries and I was full of berries and contentment.
