Absolutely in love with Dot and Bubble because 15 echoes so much of 9 in this episode. "We're here to save you" and "we can save you all" and "if you just come with me, I can save you all" (I'm paraphrasing ofc)

He has the benevolence of 9. But he hasn't got much control over the person he regenerated into. We haven't seen this much kindness in ANY regeneration since 9.

12 was great, yes, but it's just one of those je ne sais quoi moments with 15 that makes me draw this parallel.

He has all the reasons to simply turn his back and let them suffer the fate they deserve, but he doesn't. He begs and grovels. Just so he can save people who look down on him in the worst possible way.

Most people in the situation would consider that to be beneath them. But the doctor doesn't. He should. He should ideally leave them for dead. But he doesn't want to. Because that's just who he is. "Just this once, Rose, everybody lives"

As viewers, we have NO reason to subscribe to the doctor's benevolence. We are the ones who are allowed to be (rightfully) enraged about Lindy Pepper-Bean. We get to feel vengeful. We get to hope she gets what she deserves. Her and her entire city of snobby rich kids.

And we can do nothing about it

That's the whole point though, isn't it? When the doctor doesn't get the ending he wants, we don't either. The entire point is for US to experience the same helplessness as the doctor. For us to feel the frustration he feels when it isn't all neatly wrapped up and tied with a bow.

Except our reasons for said frustration are less noble than the doctor's, automatically giving him the moral high ground which means we eventually circle back to the fact that the doctor just wants everyone to live.

Keeping humans safe is what matters most to him. Doesn't matter who they are, or what they're like. It's SO ninth doctor coded. I love Ncuti. I loved this episode. It was incredible. Made me feel so many things all at once.

SCORPEPPER & NAGAREAPER (Poison/Fire) The Scorpion pepper Pokemon

This insect-like pokemon produce a powerful toxic oil from the bulbous glands at the end of their claws and tails, this oil is so caustic that it will burn anything that it touches and is often shot at the eyes and noses of possible predators to blind and disorient. However, if this oil is properly extracted by an expert and then diluted and purified, it becomes a very tasty seasoning oil, altough a very spicy one.

They have the ability "Caustic", this ability causes all poison-type moves to have a small chance of leaving the target with a "Burned" status rather than "Poisoned", even if the move doesnt usually leave its target poisoned, like acid spray or cross poison (which are moves this pokemon learns by lvl up)

They are based in the Trinidad Scorpion Pepper and the Naga Viper Pepper, its shiny colors are based on the White Carolina Reaper Pepper, this 3 are some of the most spicy peppers in the world

NAGAREAPER is also based in Nagas, serpent like beings from southeastern asian mythology, but more specifically the king of nagas statues from thailand temples, with large fangs and single large horns on the mide of their heads, some even having multiple heads, usually 3 but they can have up to 7

We've all seen the fics where the Rogues return and immediately assume that Peter is Tony's son, leading to a "prank" where Tony and Peter "act" like father and son (they soon realize they barely have to act, cue feelings)

Now, a fic that is a twist on that old favorite.

The Rogues return, and they quickly figure out that Peter is not Tony's biological son, that he started as an intern and as Spider-Man but the two have grown closer since then. The Rogues assume that Tony has never told Peter how much he cares about him. They believe Tony is too emotionally constipated, and that Peter must still think he is "just an intern"

However, in assessing the situation, the Rogues have failed to account for some pretty vital facts: 1) the amount of time that has actually passed, and 2) the fact that Tony Stark would do just about anything, even face and overcome his childhood programming, for Peter Parker

Peter and Tony have known each other for two years now. They have already had all the emotional conversations. Peter sees Tony as a father, and Tony sees Peter as a son, and the whole Ironfam knows it. No one is in the dark about what's going on.

...except the Rogues.

When Peter and Tony realize that the Rogues immediately assumed Tony is emotionally incapable, they decide to prank them by seeing just how long they will keep believing that

Around the Rogues, Peter calls Tony "Mr. Stark," and Tony pretends to be a stone cold bitch (even while "subtly" remaining a helicopter parent). Back on their own floor of the tower, Peter switches easily between "Tony" and "Dad," they have movie nights where they fall asleep on the couch together, and dinners with Pepper, May, Rhodey, and Happy.

The Rogues decide they need to help Tony and Peter realize their feelings. This goes on for a long time.

Then, one day, Peter gets hurt. Bad. Maybe he gets hurt as Spider-Man, maybe it's a kidnapping or hostage situation. One way or another, he ends up calling out for his dad.

The Rogues all hold their breath, expecting Tony to be stunned, to freak out and go hide in his lab. But Tony doesn't even blink. He comforts Peter, holds onto him, promises that he's safe

Finally, it becomes clear that the Rogues... might have misjudged the situation. Just a bit.
