I'm making a tool for Pico 8!!

I'm making a small tool for making isometric voxel games in pico 8 over this weekend! it'll be release for public use and scrutiny soon haha

How it works!! vv

For making 3d maps, you first set the resolution. here i set it to 8x8x6. meaning when you draw it on the pico 8 map there will be 6 8x8 layers that will be drawn ontop of eachother from bottom to top

Cameras Are Tools

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a camera nerd. If it has a sensor I’ve probably shot with it. In the wild, in a store, at a photo show… but here’s the thing cameras are just tools. They’re paint brushes to make your art. Tools are designed to work, they get dirty, you wash them out and use them again… if you are serious about creating photography and film in the wild places of the earth, get insurance (homeowners or commercial policy) and use your camera like the tool it is. Rain, snow, sleet, mud, or sun use the elements to your advantage to create work people have never seen before. I’m not saying to be wasteful and destroy your gear, but… let your creativity drive your work, and then find the right tool for the job. Not the other way around.

Getting Varska to the apothecarium was a near impossible task. Especially with Garm. The Wolf priest who had sedated Varska was incredibly thankful he'd been wearing his armor. Many toddler sized bite marks were scratched into the ceramite.

Leman was able to calm his youngest enough for Finnyr to grab her, and others brought Varska to the apothecarium. The ankle-biter wasn't held back for long, though.

Garm ended up lying prone across Varska's chest, snarling at anyone who approached.

One of their guards was trying to tempt them away with their wolf plush.

"Come on," he urged. "Come get it, come get... um, Pico?"

Garm growled.

Another guard scolded, "It's Snori! You weren't even close!"

Lumi offered an entire handful of cookies, "Come on, pup. Just let me get close."

They snapped at him, not even acknowledging the snacks.

Garm had placed up a psykic barrier around Varska and herself. He told others they were a prodigy, but sometimes he wondered how she knew such specific things.

They were a determined toddler, determined to prevent nasty wolf priests from getting near big brother with sharp tools and needles.

Rune Priests finally arrived. Garm snarled and barred her teeth as they began dispelling the barrier.

As soon as it broke, Leman snatched the toddler. Garm shrieked in defiance and began biting his hands. They flailed and tried hitting, using every known tantrum tactic they had.

She got out of his grip and bolted towards Varska. She bit Lumi's hands. He still persisted, determined to help the elder Russ child.

Finnyr grabbed Garm and rushed to the door. They kicked while screaming and let out a mass psykic demand.

Get away from my brother and get OFF OF MY SHIP!!

Finnyr lost his grip on them. She dropped and ran back to shove away marines.

Leman grabbed her again and held her up to his face.

"Puppy, you have to let them help him! He needs it!"

Garm started crying and writhing again.

Logan Grimnar had arrived just in time. Upon seeing the angry toddler. He reached out his arms. Leman handed Garm to him. She buried her head into his beard and cried.

The old wolf stroked their head, "There, there. It's all right. Afi is here."

He gave them enough time to work on Varska as he took her out into the hall.

Garm was now back in the apothecarium, marching around Varska's bed. The elder Russ child was still unconscious, and the monitors dictated that he was stable. But Garm wouldn't let anyone near. They'd somehow gotten a combat knife. It was like a sword for how small they were.

Finnyr entered, and Garm jumped into a stance, ready to defend Big Brother.

She perked up as she saw he what he carried.

"Even those on duty need to eat," he told them.

Garm set down the knife and reached out for the plate. She began scarfing down the sandwich upon it as Finnyr smoothed back their hair.

Thank you, Papa.

"Remember to drink," he told her as he handed her sippie cup. "I'll be back."

A few moments later, he was back with a bundle of blankets and pillows. Garm cocked her head.

"You'll need a fortress," he told her.

He set up a blanket fort next to the bed where Garm could easily see out. He stacked the pillows and moved back.

Garm climbed in, inspecting it. Finnyr held out their wolf plush, Snori.

She grabbed it, flopped back onto the pillows, and began sucking their thumb. Finnyr rubbed their back.

"You really are upset," he commented.

Garm sighed and eyed Vars'. Finnyr pulled a spare wolf pelt and wrapped it around her. She climbed into his arms, nuzzling closer.

"He'll get better," He assured.

Garm suddenly bolted from his arms and grabbed the knife. She growled, pointing it at Lumi, who was trying to sneak up to Varska.

"Come on, pup," the wolf priest sighed. "I just need to change his bandages."

Garm glared.

He held up the guaze, "See? No tools. Just bandages."

She wouldn't budge.

A hand brushed her back, and she whipped around to bite it.

They let out a happy squeal upon seeing it was Varska. She shoved their face into his palm and rubbed it. The knife clattered to the ground.

Lumi snuck over to Vars' other side. Before he could lay a hand on him, Garm lunged from their side, snarling at the wolf priest. She laid across Varska's chest, blocking Lumi.

Her brother weakly reached up to stroke her head.

"Finnyr, I need your assistance," Lumi mumbled.

"On it. Puppy, let's have Vars choose if he wants Lumi's help."

Garm pressed her head onto Varska, refusing to let up.

"This will be difficult," the Wolf Priest muttered.

I have sort of a tradition, when I learn a new graphics tool I figure out how to cheaply generate something approximating a Mondrian painting. I've done this in Processing, Pillow, Pico-8 (there may have been more but this is what I remember at the moment) and now SiGL. This means we have a paradigm for effects and a tool for drawing squares in SiGL now, the latter of which is one of the very basics for a graphics library. Putting this down for now to work on other projects but when I come back I'm going to take a crack at some very basic 3D as I recently learned about some very simple projection if you make some assumptions about the scene/camera.

i like to think even if [insert any of the main fnf or picos school characters here in any order because i ship p much all of them] got into a poly, theyd each still have their separate rooms. its just nice to have your own space sometimes, surrounding yourself in your own comforts and allat, especially if youre goin through mental hell (which all of them do, undoubtedly at least the newgrounds trio).

its not like they cant all sleep together, like they can have sleep overs in each others rooms and even in the livingroom, and they can routinely sleep together if they wanted, but if they decide not to, then that option is so much easier and accessible.

that being said, i haven't really thought about what all their rooms would look like, id imagine most of them enjoy maximalism.

random room headcanons below the cut

DARNELL

- the walls are lavender, faint marijuana scent + gasoline

- he has at least two lava lamps, one is purple

- ungodly amounts of pillows (the good kind tho)

- neat wall display of vinyls and posters

- keepsake box under his bed he thinks nobody knows about (pico and nene will watch him pull it out sometimes while hiding behind the door)

- obvs he has a small setup for his music career (idk all the tools specifically n im lazy)

- a drawing desk at the foot of his bed for sketching out blueprints, album covers, etc.

- usually pretty clean if you can ignore the burn marks up and down the walls.. and the bed... and the

NENE

- walls are pink, well, if you can even see the wall; smells like rose water

- stickers everywhere, pink everything, posters everywhere

- animal shaped candles... well until darnell gets his hands on them

- curtains over the bed- the bed is circle + beloved giant seal plush as pillow

- she has a pin board where she pins up polaroid pictures and letters/ drawings she gets and loves enough

- you will be stepping on beads in her room. nail polish is embedded into the carpet also

-usually pretty clean but clothes are often strewn about

-she has one of those giant mirrors with the squiggly border- and she has cute retro lightswitch covers/ doorknobs

PICO

- green walls. smells like marijuana

- glowing star decal ceiling, accompanied by a bullet hole or two (covered poorly with the stars)

- he has little dinosaur figures on the windowsill

- also hangs up vinyls and posters

- mood lights, all around. he loves them (easy on the eyes)

- bed is basically a fortress of mismatched blankets and plushies. insisted his mattress be on the floor (darnell made sure it was thick enough to not hurt his back)

- black out curtains

- his mini fridge is his night stand (likes having control over food)

- he has a mental map of where every weapon he has hidden in his room is; hidden more weapons than youre probably thinking

BOYFRIEND

- walls are a light blue & red, room smells like old books (i mean that in the most comforting way possible i love the smell of old books)

- has a tv in his room + gaming setup (messy edition)

- adhd piles (not clean or organized looking but he knows where everything is)

- many marks on the walls from throwing things aside without 2nd thought like a cartoon character

- blacklights and LED lights

- idky but i feel like he would have a cool bedframe like a racecar or a shark bedframe- beloved plushies !!!!

- keeps a snack stash near his bed

- comic book collection galore !!!! + some figures and posters around the place

GIRLFRIEND

- walls are a deep purple, room smells like cherries

- rose shaped bed, weighted blanket, beloved plushies !!!

- fairy lights along the walls

- adhd piles (ditto)

- posters of games she likes + tv and gaming setup (she has a lot of gaming consoles)

im gonna b fr im struggling to imagine her room x_x but im making pinterest boards for all of them later so hopefully thatll give me some ideas lmao

Cindy Picos was dropped by her home insurer last month. The reason: aerial photos of her roof, which her insurer refused to let her see.

“I thought they had the wrong house,” said Picos, who lives in northern California. “Our roof is in fine shape.” 

Her insurer said its images showed her roof had “lived its life expectancy.” Picos paid for an independent inspection that found the roof had another 10 years of life. Her insurer declined to reconsider its decision.

Across the U.S., insurance companies are using aerial images of homes as a tool to ditch properties seen as higher risk. 

Nearly every building in the country is being photographed, often without the owner’s knowledge. Companies are deploying drones, manned airplanes and high-altitude balloons to take images of properties. No place is shielded: The industry-funded Geospatial Insurance Consortium has an airplane imagery program it says covers 99% of the U.S. population. 

The array of photos is being sorted by computer models to spy out underwriting no-nos, such as damaged roof shingles, yard debris, overhanging tree branches and undeclared swimming pools or trampolines. The red-flagged images are providing insurers with ammunition for nonrenewal notices nationwide.

“We’ve seen a dramatic increase across the country in reports from consumers who’ve been dropped by their insurers on the basis of an aerial image,” said Amy Bach, executive director of consumer group United Policyholders. 

The increasingly sophisticated use of flyby photos comes as home insurers nationwide scramble to “derisk” their property portfolios, dropping less-than-perfect homes in an effort to recover from big underwriting losses.

Ranking all sonic boom redesigns, worst to best

#5, knuckles

What good is there to say about him? He’s disproportionate looking, his shoes look weird, he has that improperly applied sports tape, his silhouette is horrible. I hate him.

#4, sonic

Key problem: brown. Brown literally muddies Sonic’s color scheme. That sleek RGB color scheme sonic usually has is so charming and characteristic and simple and beautiful, and it works well with neutrals that aren’t brown, but that stupid bandana right front and center ruins everything.

#3, Amy

I think she’s actually pretty solid! The dress looks pretty nice and like something she’d wear, I think making the pico pico hammer pink worked nice with it, the purple accents are cute, I like her shoes, she’s really good!

#2, Shadow

Yes, shadow was in boom. Specifically only the show I’m pretty sure. And he’s like the same other than his gloves and shoes, but they look kinda weird and a bit awkward to me so I’m putting him at 2.

#1, tails

All they did was give him goggles, different gloves that look like they’re protective rubber gloves which makes sense for him, and a tool belt. Well yeah he’s got that sports tape but I can live with it here. Really the only big changes were the goggles, gloves, and tool belt. And well.. he’s an inventor and he flies a plane. It’s pretty obvious and convenient accessories for him.

Context: Pearl had only grabbed her tools and not her building supplies after playing Dye-duction. This leads to her saying how on stream you get the raw version of her. Chat of course, takes it a different way meaning that their brains need a shower.
