Have one of my current character obsessions, Siffe! One of my rp mains at the moment, her story has just started despite the fact a lot of things have happened to her already in her backstory. She carries many secrets and burdens for one so young, no telling how it'll pan out for her. There's a few design differences compared to her in-game model, and for those familiar with my characters, one in particular, the resemblance isn't a coincidence. Have some backstory character profile stuff under the cut!
Age: 22 Gender & Orientation: Female, she/her. Orientation unknown (she's still figuring that out) Profession: Mesmer in-game. Occupation/Affiliations: Was learning to be a quantum mechanic and physics major. Oort (Dad), Theta (Mom), no other known existing siblings or close friends or affiliations as of now. Characteristics: Polite, poised, self-contained (usually, otherwise has a tendency to be tempestuous), stubborn, guarded, detail-oriented, careful, extremely curious.
This youthful asura has an air of strangeness about her, as if belonging and yet not entirely, or perhaps haunted. Her eyes are intense and fierce even when she is not enraged, a detail some might find unsettling when juxtaposed with her otherwise soft features. Tall for her apparent age, svelte and athletic, despite having a grounded and serious personality she carries herself like nobility.
Her mother moved to a research enclave in the Mists very early in her life and she's only recently come back (more like fled) to Tyria, so she very much feels like a fish out of water. She is bound to a powerful magical artifact but has been forced to keep it hidden due to the fact she is currently being hunted by someone/something from the Mists who caught wind of her temporal and quantum meddling. Despite currently being with a group of other mismatched misfits, she doesn't feel like she belongs anywhere right now, gaining her the title of "The Lost," her own parents not even knowing where she is (in the case of Oort, doesn't even know she exists).

Kinda an unprompted Threshold AU idea I'd had a while ago surrounding Protectors and Kathryn feeling her lil baby kick for the first time. :)
I'd imagined she'd be stirring in bed contemplating whatever future awaits her return to the Delta Quadrant as Fleet Commander when she'd feel a flutter for the first time. And then proceeds to stay up reading and sporadically feeling the sensation. And Philippa would notice the light on outside of her room and goes to investigate.

tripped into the ocean and now im back in the subnautica fandom someone help me
so every once in awhile i get a notification that someone liked one of my old subnautica pieces, very specifically my old ryley and bart designs and every single time i get that notif i just, cringe, because i know how bad they are.
so here *slams this on the table* they’re new! i, i got better at art - i promise- they’re hot now! :D and unfortunately even more in love with each other because im still not over them killing the best character in the game- he’s still alive to me i do not care
ryley’s design?? obsessed with, had a lot of fun with making and thinking about, drawing him was fun and nice. bart on the other fucking hand???? almost didn’t draw him, his design went through so many different versions to get here, all of which i sent to my very asleep brother to ask for comments, none of which came. if you can see in his sketch, originally he had spiked ears and the green mutation covered nearly his entire body, but the longer i looked at it the more and more i just hated it lmao. i might post the old version too just because i still have it idk, but like, he caused me so much trouble. even now, im not completely satisfied with how he came out?? compared to ryley, im much more proud of him than bart, so i’ll probably tackle his design again at some point, but for now-
im pretty happy with how both of them came out!! maybe one day i’ll get around to drawing the other characters lol i’d love to draw robin and al-an at some point, same with my subnautica sona but here, the boys, the survivors themselves, these fucking idiots. love them dearly.

From here.
As a young kid in, like, 4th grade, I had this as my computer background. It was a screenshot from the official game. I thought it was so cool.

Murderbot is MurderBACK in the next installment of Martha Wells’s NYT bestselling Murderbot Diaries series System Collapse 🤖🚀
WHAT’S IT ABOUT
Following the events of Network Effect, our favorite lethally cybernetic television fiend has done the previously unthinkable: agreed to accompany the sentient spaceship Perihelion (dubbed ART by Murderbot, short for Asshole Research Transport) and crew on its next mission.
Unfortunately, they’re not going to get too far.
Having failed to harvest dangerous artifacts from their target planet by way of Murderbot misadventure, the Barish-Estranza corporation is much angered and determined to recoup their considerable losses. And when you’re a lethally opportunistic space corp, blood and muscle are valuable currency.
Murderbot, ART’s crew, and the Preservation humans have planetside work to do as Barish-Estranza seeks to claim the planet’s beleaguered colony as a conscripted workforce.
But for Murderbot, the challenge is as internal as it is external. Something is deeply, deeply wrong with it. Normal operational parameters are unmet, but with the corp’s SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams en route, Murderbot needs to resolve its issues, and fast!

Lesser Known Legends...
...of the Inner Sphere and Beyond: everyone knows their The Bounty Hunter and their Black Marauder, but some notables never seem to really find the fame they deserve. For instance...
"The Grinch", name unknown, attacked Christmas tree farms in a pine-green Hatchetman across the Commonwealth in the years following the Jihad; speculated to have been disgruntled with the omnipresent holiday season sales advertising. Never apprehended. The damage was estimated to have been in the tens of millions.
Willy Divou, the "Red Paper Clip Bandit". Started in a raggedy CattleMaster, broke into military bases ranging from the Capellan Confederation to the furthest reaches of the Combine, swapping for a new, better 'mech each time. Arrested and executed after being baited with a rumors of an 'experimental improved Atlas'.
Theodora Mirene, the "Brick Wall". A Civil War mercenary whose grotesquely modified Stalker avoided differing weapons restrictions and parts availability in the various systems she operated in by not having any. She butted and body-checked over twenty enemy 'mechs down over her career, before retiring from battle strain.
Toni Anathol, "The Solaris Menace". Active from 2904-6 as the only person to ever reach double digits (27, all told) for streaking in the 'mech arenas. Was captured when he twisted an ankle brutally mid-run, but fans demanded his release. His career was over after that, though he received the only official Solaris Medal of Spontaneity.
"The Possum Pilot", spotted across numerous battlefields but consistent in their tactics during the Andurien Crisis. Always piloted an Archer so dilapidated as to appear to be a wreck, then sprung up and fired on unsuspecting FWL troops. Killed when stepped on by a Zeus that took them for underfoot wreckage. Body was unidentifiable.
Susan Ravenwater, "The Party Bus", a Hell's Horses pilot active during STAMPEDE with a dicey strategy of ordering every Elemental in their Nova onto their 'mech, and moving as a flanker to drop twenty-five Elementals into the fight when the enemy was fighting what they assumed was elements of a standard Star.
"Big" Boots A. Tajag, a mercenary for the Dominion during their war against the Combine. A dedicated Trebuchet pilot who practiced the self-taught "art of 'mech-jitsu". Never scored a confirmed kill in the field: only ever knocked over or tripped enemy 'mechs. Died to a Locust whose reverse knee joints baffled his technique.
Jared Hada, the "Turtle of Terror". Piloted a massive, over-armored Rifleman which would drop into planetside docks and depots, firing on anyone trying to enter or leave until a ransom was paid for access to the supplies. This worked until a Lyran supply depot simply waited him out, breaking in and arresting him when he fell asleep during the standoff.

High Voltage Bundle
The High Voltage bundle has launched, and is running until the end of January 2024.
It's 20 TTRPGs, 87% off, and it's primarily robust core systems.
For example, there's:
Planet Fist - A feature length Fist hack where the occult espionage action system is being used to run Planetside 2.
Vibe Check - An extremely gorgeous high effort street art take on The World Ends With You.
Bloodbeam Badlands - A vampire cowboys rpg.
Blazing Hymn - A giant homage to Symphogear.
ProtoDrive - An Initial D rpg running on the Lancer engine.
And, again, there 15 more titles on top of that, including a giant beetle befriending simulator that I wrote.
If you want to dip into the deeper indie, this is a very solid place to start!.
(And if these sound too weird for you and you want other rpg reccs, lmk. I think the games in this bundle are great, but I'm also super happy to suggest other rpgs that might match what you're looking for.)

Fact: Power Moons are sources of power used by the people of Mario’s planet.
Power Moons appear to come from broken Moon Rocks, mysterious deposits of solid energy that formed within the moon’s caverns and fell planetside. Whether or not these cubes formed naturally is unknown.

more art of fikkits dad :) they appeared with the rest of the lusus in a post from a little while ago, but here they are with 6 sweep fikkit!! their hive is a huge clock, and their dad is responsible for the movement of the artificial sun and moons of the nursery cavern. He's a very intelligent lusus capable of talking, a lot like equius's lusus. he's a very doting parent, which annoys fikkit a billion. Some of the adult troll teachers think he's quite handsome (which fikkit thinks is GROSS.)
manticoredad gets very attached to the trolls he raises, and hates that he only gets to spend a short 6 sweeps with them before they ascend to the institute. he likes to point out that on alternia, a troll gets to spend their entire life with a lusus, it's not normal to be separated first at 6 sweeps with brief visitation days, and then again when their charges age out of the institute and are sent to the other planet. in Gold Rule society, the verbal lusus have rights, but it's... complicated. Furthermore, to be able to visit his planetside children with his responsibilities, he'd have to raise another manticore to specifically take over his job and the thought of leaving family in his lonely situation terrifies him. he chose to open up his heart to adopt fikkit due to her specific sign and scorpion morph.
fikkit loves their dad a lot, but they're reluctant to show it because he can get sappy and touchy-feely. visiting him is very hard, as he's a day's travel from the nursery layer entrance for school-aged trolls, cutting into the already brief visiting time they have. The machine running the skybox takes daily maintenance so her dad can't make the travel instead to wait to see her. After leaving for school, they missed him a lot but refuse to show anyone how homesick they feel. They haven't visited at all in long time, because they're worried it'll make the longing worse. :(

feel free to ignore this one-
i have been a big fan of fanfiction for a while and recently got into cod. and ive noticed a lot of poetic writers tend to head down the noncon/ddne territory, and i guess it’s always a conflict for me?
cus it’s beautiful, but always so fucking sickening. nasty stuff for sure. and being one of my favorite authors, i guess im asking if you believe the writing is supposed to justify it? romaticize it- instead of condemning? maybe it slips past me but im always unsure if the writing is supposed to be seen as strictly art that divulges into the depths of a dark mind and a bad man- or it’s indulging in a fantasy.
im breaking from my comfortable shell from the ‘white picket fence happy ending cute tale’ fanfiction and actually really enjoying reading dark fics because good ones do such a wonderful job at toeing the ‘this is so beautiful but I feel like vomiting’ line- but in the back of my mind i wonder if it’s supposed to be read in a positive light- like the assaulter is…good?
im a bit new to it all which is why I guess there’s a shred of shame in it, because I don’t like the actions in ddne. they’re unsettling, gross (unfeminist? unsure) - but the writing is often times why i have to finish them because it’s jus so beautiful, pulls you in. your guts are all shriveled but your mind is wide awake and your mouth is wide open like you’re trying to swallow the poetry whole (not to be dramatic).
have you ever felt this? or am i jus like. vanilla.
hey friend, thanks for your patience on this.
i know you’ve already reached back out and i’m glad the links shared here helped. i’m gonna respond to both asks here because i don’t want to break your anonymity without your consent.
i’m also disabling reblogs. everything below this is my opinion and experiences. other folks will obviously feel differently. (if any of my smart and talented friends want to chime in or correct me, please do.)
first, i respect and appreciate your openness. you are kind and your thoughtfulness shines through both messages. feeling conflicted about complicated and difficult topics is normal. not to get all woo-ey off the bat, but we’re human beings. this is our first time planetside and all that. it’s important to cut yourself some slack. this post is generally how i see it:
“the human brain is weird. sex fantasies ≠ actual desires. if you ask yourself, “would i want to act out this thing in real life” and the answer is “fuck no,” then you’re fine. shipping is also not an indicator of what you would condone in real life. you are not secretly a monster. you are a human being. human beings are complicated.”
you ask: [do] you believe the writing is supposed to justify it? romanticize it- instead of condemning?
no, and this is where i think the posts i shared help. i do not believe dead dove or dark fic justifies sexual assault and rape, in the same way i do not believe games or horror films make people violent.
you also share:
“maybe it slips past me but im always unsure if the writing is supposed to be seen as strictly art that divulges into the depths of a dark mind and a bad man- or it’s indulging in a fantasy.” “in the back of my mind i wonder if it’s supposed to be read in a positive light”
this just tells me you’re engaging with fiction in a normal way. it’s normal to process how a story affects you. when reading fiction that depicts the disgusting, there’s a chance you feel disgusted. you remind me of how i felt when i first started reading dark fic. i had to unpack and grapple with years of being told any sexual fantasy that wasn’t heterosexual + monogamous + only explored after marriage was a one-way ticket to superhell and made me an awful person. surprise, it doesn't!
again, i’ll echo my first reply in case anyone needs to see it again: content warnings and tags aside, if readers hit an unexpected limit/boundary/landmine in a fic that they know will adversely impact or trigger them, they need to exit immediately. disengaging from fanfic is a reader’s responsibility. no one is forcing anyone to read fanfic, and no one should feel like they have to finish fanfic because it’s beautifully written, at the expense of their well-being.
(to note, because i don’t want folks to think i’m ignoring it, but i’m not going to wade into what’s feminist or not when it comes to fiction. i think that’s a whole other discussion and i’m not in the headspace to engage.)
(another note, semi-related - something that continually frustrates me in the broader discussion of dead dove and dark fanfic is the pressure for victims to share personal information to justify their opinion, no matter where it falls. while i do share some stuff about my personal life, i do have limits. i’ve been asked point blank in my ask box and ao3 comments if i’ve ever been sexually assaulted, because some folks feel entitled to that information to ‘justify’ my writing about it. people can and will make their assumptions, but i will never divulge that info here, on tumblr.com, of all places. that’s a hard line for me.)
to your second message, i am sincerely happy that those links helped. it really boils down to ‘it doesn’t equal your actual desires’. you said it was a huge relief to see that, and it is! again! i felt a galaxy brain moment when i stopped hating myself for liking darkfic. reading/writing dark fic isn't an endorsement.
and and and not to sound like your grandpapa out on the porch, but now that i know your age—you are young. do not beat yourself up for learning or not knowing your limits just yet. i am in my 30s and learning shit about myself all the time. i’ll be 60 and having lightbulb moments reading fanfic.
okay. i think i’ve yapped enough. linking to early’s post again because it’s so, so good.

First of all, i love your art. Your style is amazing.
We all know Rocket is amazing in repairing space ships (and even building them) but what about a normal Earth car?
i am BLUSHING. i feel like i don't really have a set style (at least when it comes to drawing rocket - i am still figuring it out) so this really means a LOT. you’re so sweet i could actually die, little fox. just a coin-sized blueberry pancake with whipped cream. thank you for the kind words ♡ truly ♡♡~
secondly, what about normal earth cars? ur boy rocket looks at any given machine and understands it almost instantaneously. the kree charted him within .024 points of optimum intuitive grasp. a puny little earth-car is gonna be child's play for him.
not that i would ever suggest letting him work on yours.
it'll be more or less safe (for you) because rocket does care about you and isn't trying to get you killed. and sure, if you let him do that oil change you've been needing, he'll probably make some sneaky upgrades that allow for a smoother ride and better mileage. but the next time you find yourself with a lead foot, you'll realize you can also go way faster than anything on terra should be able to go. and the next time you accidentally bump one of those buttons on the console you rarely use, you'll probably end up with laser rifles unfolding from your wheel-wells, or your taillights flipping down to ready your "brand new" plasma cannons. (brand new in the sense that rocket will probably patch them together out of some old tech he has lying around his own ship, combined with whatever he can steal out of your kitchen cabinets. don't be too surprised if that mixer you bought from the thrift store no longer works because he's jacked all the internal wiring). lucky you - he'll probably figure out a way to make your powertrain UNTN-compatible and from there, he'll figure he's only gotta get you to let him do one more tire rotation, and when he's "working" on that, he can probably figure out a way to get your car capable of actual flight. it might take a bit longer to make sure it has adequate life-support systems and an airtight seal for short-term space travel but hey, he'll figure he's doing you both a favor, piece by piece.
it'll take you a while to figure out where he's hidden all the artillery in your car - and the thrusters, and the additional fuel tanks - and how to keep yourself from accidentally opening up the wings he's installed when you're in the middle of rush-hour traffic or construction. more than once you'll scrape the bottom of your car before you realize that the clearance has changed because he'll have added some re-entry grade ceramic plating to the bottom of it.
"you got any repairs you need done?" he'll probably ask casually, the next time he's planetside. "thought you mentioned your climate control being out."
"air conditioner," you'll say dryly. "and no thanks."
his jaw will probably drop. he'll look wounded. "why not? i did a fine job on the brakes last time."
your eyes will narrow. "i keep getting pulled over by the fucken cops."
his nose will wrinkle. "ew. why?"
your glare will turn withering. "because they don't believe the thing i'm driving is roadworthy anymore," you'll have to tell him. he'll sputter, probably - outraged and insulted - but you won't really be too mad. you know he's just trying to maximize the amount of time the two of you can hang out.
besides, the upgrades he'll make to your sound system will be worth it. your music will never have sounded better.

This ref has been kicking around for 2 years but finally finished it up for art fight - My first shepard and my Garrus romancer, Alanis!
More character info under the cut:
Age: 29/31/32 (ME1/ME2/ME3) Morality/leaning: Paragon Personality: Generally appears friendly, patient and easygoing, but actually quite high-strung. Very perceptive except when it comes to people - fairly emotionally dense. Tends to subconsciously keep a distance from people. Huge romantic but unsure with handling it in real life. Has a competitive streak, especially when it comes to shooting and dance. Sexuality: Bisexual (preference for men) Likes: Dancing, math, practicing on the firing range, brain teasers/puzzles, hanging out quietly with one or two close friends Dislikes: Hero worship, trying to navigate without a map, false reads, bureaucracy Romance: Garrus Best friend: Jacob
Alanis was born as the only child into a military family, and so spent her childhood moving from ship to ship with her parents' postings, from miltary school to military school. Thanks to some of the programs offered for military kids, they were able to keep up some activities through moves, which allowed them to pursue ballet and dance over the years. Still, he got used to never being in one place for long, and so constantly having to make new friends and try and fit in a new community. It was a lonely sort of existence for Alanis, but it was one they were used to, and life among the stars wasn't so bad.
Alanis had never lived planetside until training camp in Brazil, when she joined the military at 18. Easygoing, friendly, and adaptable, she fit in quickly with her peers and excelled in drills, thanks to her years of military upbringing and athletic training.
However, most of their renown in the military is from their role at Akuze in 2177. Alanis was part of a team of fifty-one marines sent to investigate a distress signal from the colony. When camping for the night, the unit was attacked by Thresher Maws. Almost everyone was killed in the resulting bloodbath- except for Alanis, who managed to make his way back to the landing zone thanks to his perseverance, ingenuity, and sheer luck, leaving him with a nasty face scar and and even larger emotional one. To this day, Alanis still chalks her survival up to luck and although she is good natured about it, dislikes the spotlight and glory she received as a result, believing it isn't fair to the memory of her squadmates.
In the years after this, Alanis eventually went for their N7 designation and became the Commander Shepard we see at the beginning of ME1.

Family Life: Childhood 🎀 - a Thrawn headcanon
Tumblr media
I thought today would be a good day for a new family life headcanon, and here I am feeding you with new content! ✨
This one is a fluffy SFW hc.
Reader's gender is not mentioned.
Taglist: @bingbongooo @dance-like-russia-isnt-watching @ele-millennial-weirdo @enaelyork @jesslove23 @thrawnalani @thrawnsboots @twincesskorisoka @generousblizzardchaos @davesrightshoe @shoe-bag @tearyeve @blackddarling @obbicrystaleo
Tumblr media
The days of changing diapers and baby formula are over. You and Thrawn are now parents of a bright eyed six year old girl…
Thrawn wants to be actively involved as a father. Among other things, he learned how to braid your daughter’s hair. He's become quite good at it.
He actually likes to join her roleplay games, like tea party or supermarket, when he has the time. Watching them play makes your heart melt.
You speak a decent amount of Cheunh at this point since your daughter often speaks a mix of both Basic and Cheunh.
She is so full of energy, you can't keep her confined to your quarters 24/7. You allow her to roam designated hallways of the Chimera as long as she doesn't keep anyone from their duties.
She knows she has to return to your quarters asap when the Chimera gets involved in a battle.
The crew has to get used to an unsupervised child wandering the hallways first. Your daughter is polite and respectful though, in fact she got most of the crew wrapped around her finger.
She's independent for her age and always seeks answers to anything. She's very curious and wants to learn everything there is to learn about the Galaxy, the Chimera, the Empire and the Chiss Ascendancy.
As for the latter, Thrawn regularly tells her stories of his people. She can't get enough of them.
Every now and then you spend a day together as a family. Whether on the Chimera or at the cottage Thrawn bought a few years ago, you always have a good time.
There are days where your kid follows Eli around. He doesn't mind answering all her questions, and he's patient with her. He actually loves having her follow him around like a little duckling.
You and Thrawn agree that you never would have thought about some of the things she asks you about. She's the smartest kid you've ever known.
There will be a time where every child starts nagging their parents about a pet, and your daughter is no exception. A child on a warship is one thing, an animal is something else. Thrawn thinks about it and eventually sends someone to Myrkr to catch a young Ysalamir for her.
It's an uncommon pet to have. She loves that hairy lizard instantly and they become great companions. You rarely see her without the ysalamir sitting on her shoulder.
Your daughter is now the right age to attend school. Since you don't live planetside permanently, she takes holonet classes. Via holocam she can see and talk to other students and teachers.
She LOVES school and the teachers are amazed at her vast knowledge about the Galaxy. Due to her intelligence and eagerness to participate in classes, some kids are being mean to her.
She claims that she doesn’t care what they say, but you see in her crimson eyes that the words of those kids hurt her. Thrawn knows what it's like being treated differently and gives her good advice.
As for your love life, Eli has turned out to be better at babysitting than any droid could. He looks after your daughter when Thrawn takes you out for date night.
Thrawn is determined to keep his family away from Imperial affairs. He never mentions either of you to the Emperor or Darth Vader and doesn't take any of you to public appearances like Imperial balls or other official events. If he has to attend, he goes alone.
Your daughter loves drawing on flimsi for her dad. He keeps her art in a drawer of his desk, admiring it when she's at the cottage with you and he feels lonely.
When your little one gets sick you make sure she gets the care she needs. I might add that despite being half Chiss she's not immune to human infections and viruses. She's still part human, so you make sure she gets all necessary vaccines humans get too.
Thrawn thinks it's important to teach her basic survival skills from an early age. That includes swimming, how to make a campfire and find shelter, and basic self-defense. You find the time to teach her together. In a dangerous Galaxy it can't hurt to be prepared.
Being the little whirlwind she is, she ruined a few pieces of art from Thrawn's collection either with paint or broke them while playing. They're irreplaceable and Thrawn was angry, but also understanding. You're dealing with a playful child here after all.
Your daughter has changed your life for the better, that you and your husband agree on. You never would have guessed you can love someone as much as you love your little girl. Every day with her is a new adventure.
Thrawn toys with the idea of sending your little one to an Imperial elite boarding school for girls, where many high ranking Imperials send their daughters. He wants her to be more disciplined like Chiss children her age usually are, and he thinks a good education might help her find her way in life. Before you can make any decision on that (or argue if you’re against it), an incident involving purrgils occurs while you're all aboard, getting you exiled into an unknown far away Galaxy with apparently no way home…
Tumblr media
Yeah I'm leaving that at a cliffhanger. 😈 You can probably guess that the next family life hc will be about your life in exile on Peridea. You better prepare yourself for more fluff and some angst. 😉
