I’ve been thinking about vanijeanne and how confusing they are. But there is a direction mochijun could go with their relationship that honestly has me HOOKED

Let me rant like usual.

I’ve said this before but the set-up for their relationship is odd to me. I won’t say it’s bad, depending on whether what I say will happen, but it’s something that I felt could’ve been formed a lot differently. We’re moving very quickly for a supposedly canon ship, leaping if you will. So. I think this thing they have could go in a “learning experience” for both of them. None of them know what the fuck they’re doing and honestly, neither of them should enter a relationship to begin with.

Here are stuff I think is happening: Vanitas is infatuated with Jeanne. Vanitas genuinely likes Jeanne, I have no doubts on that. He doesn’t love her though. What he feels isn’t love and who knows, maybe it’s something that’ll develop over time. But love is something that involves a lot. One of them is being vulnerable with the other person. I do not think Vanitas is willing to be emotionally vulnerable with Jeanne. They could kiss, go on dates, possibly more, but there will always be a divide.

And it’s understandable, given his trauma and what not. Opening up will be a pretty big problem, maybe he’ll get there. Maybe he won’t. Then we get to Jeanne, which is where I get a bit lost. Because she didn’t “love” Vanitas until their date. So it’s like, girl, babe. Do you love Vanitas? Or do you love the idea of Vanitas? You like the idea of being in love? Because there is a stark difference that matters A LOT.

Love isn’t this romanticized fairytale that she’s imagining. It’s bumpy, there are tears every now and then. It’s a beautiful feeling but it can also hurt. So when Vanitas isn’t showering you with compliments, gifts, and blood. When he’s at a low point, can you handle that? Do you love Vanitas as a person? Because this person right......is kinda fucked up. Life kinda scarred him in more ways than one and I don’t think Jeanne realizes how broken he is. And Vanitas, refusing to open up to Jeanne, won’t tell her that. Won’t share that.

So this combination is either going to go up in flames in the most chaotic way. Or sizzle out until they both come to the conclusion that this cannot work. And if mochijun goes this direction, first of all, excellent writing. It’d be a fresh turn on the main boy gets with main girl trope. But y’all KNOW I got the popcorn ready 😙🍿

I think that one thing people fail to understand is that unsolicited literary criticism coming from an online stranger who is reading with no knowledge of what the authors intended goal is, is not going to be received the same as say: the authors beta reader or friends who know what the authors intended goal and has the sufficient knowledge and input to help the author reach that desired outcome.

"But I'm only trying to be helpful" How do I know you have the knowledge and literary skill for you to be able to actaully do that when we don't know each other and you are essentially a stranger to me? Are you applying this criticism based out of personal biased experience and desire to see the story or characterization be driven in another direction or tweaked, or do you know the author's intentions for the character? If the story is incomplete, are you basing your criticism of a character on the incomplete narration with only partial information available of them or are you building up a report until the story's completion? Did the author provide you with the information needed to make a fully informed criticism?

Have you discussed with the author what their plans are or are you assuming them based off the narration, especially if the narration is proven or implied to be unreliable or missing key points of the plot? Are you unbiased enough to help them reach their desired outcome for the characters and story regardless of your personal feelings towards the characters/antagonists and setting? Can you handle being told your specific input isn't wanted because you're a reader and/or have no written anything relating to their genre or topic? Do you understand and respect that the author's personal experiences might influence their writing and make it different than how you would have done it personally? Do you understand if an author only wants input from a specific demographic relating to their story?

If it's for fanfiction or other hobby media, are you holding a free hobby to a professional standard? Are you trying to give criticism because you feel like the author has produced 'subpar job performance' of their fic? Are you viewing their work as a personal intimate outlet or something that must conform with mass media? Are you applying rules and guidelines when the fic is shared for simple sharing sake? Is your criticism worded appropriately and focused on the parts where the author has requested input on rather than a general dismissal and or disapproval?

Have you put yourself in a place where you assumed you have the input needed for the story to evolve better, or have you asked what the author needs and what they're having trouble with? Can you handle having your criticism rejected if the author decides their story doesn't need the change and not take it as a personal offense against your character? Are you crossing that boundary because you think you are doing the author a favor? Are you trying to be helpful, or do you just want to be?

I think sometimes when people hear authors go 'please don't give me unsolicited writing advice or criticism' they automatically chalk it up to 'this author doesn't want ANY constructive feedback on their stuff at all' and not "i already have trusted individuals who will help me with my writing goals and- hey i don't know you like that, please stop acting so overly familiar with me'

Estranged but bursting with love but not knowing how to show it because ‘we were never close.’ But Sansa used to teach me courtesy, and Jon used to sneak me lemon cakes when no one was watching. I love you so much but I feel as if you’re a stranger to me and I don’t know how to change that. Do you wish it was arya who walked through those gates or I should have been a better brother to you, I should have ridden north for you. Please just let me hold you in my arms until our hardened hearts soften again. Until something ineffable develops. And to their horror, they realise this raw and fresh and beautiful (damaged) bond that they have created. And then comes the angst. The yearning. The unspoken words. Religious disillusionment. Inadequacy. Shame shame shame. Understanding slowly burning brighter, until they realise how similar they actually are and oh my god , you were there the whole time and I never even realised. But she was radiant and glowed brighter than any star in the sky, how could I not ??? Now give me your hands and I’ll kiss your fingers one by one, I’ll gentle each tip the way you’ve deserved. And I’m here, I see you. I’m not leaving, but gods am I a vile being. Look at how this world has corrupted me.

okay so i’ve seen a lot of speculation about the apartment fire, and it would be so interesting to see

1. the structure fire being so big they call in reinforcements from basically everywhere (aka where tommy is) and we see tommy becoming very reckless in finding his boyfriend

2. tommy gets a call after the fact and we see him rush to the hospital

but has anyone considered or talked about…

both tommy and buck being in the apartment when it catches fire? like just imagine they team up together and help people get out..then they lose each other in the building..? (then it ends with the building collapsing with both of them inside)

or…tommy and buck get everyone out safely and either tommy or buck run out of the building and they’re like “where’s xxx?” and the ep ends with the building collapsing with just one inside.

either way, it’d be interesting to see how tommy reacts and how different it’ll be from bucks past relationships

Im gonna put this here and hope to god I dont end up just talking to the void and being one of those posts ppl see and go "oh its so embarrassing they posted asking a question and no one replied omg..." (I dont think this idk if anyone actually thinks this but its scary!!) i am writing a Very large ATLA fic re-write, it is ur classic Hakoda + crew adopt Zuko except this starts pre-canon, just weeks after Zuko gets his burn! it is focused on love, its many different forms and is called "No thing defines a man like love" on Ao3! So, in saying this, I am curious about peoples opinions and preferences when it comes to re-writes where the focus isnt the ACTUAL canon timeline. (mine is focused on pre-canon, has a lot of flashbacks from different POV's and I wanna do a lot of stuff for post-canon perhaps!) I know I personally am not the biggest fan of re-reading WHOLE chapters with each one being an episode, with the only difference being "Zuko is here now! Woo!" But Im not sure how else to approach it.... Im thinking potentially doing a like,,, flash speed run of the episode with it focusing on certain parts where Zuko's presence WOULD make a difference, focusing on parts we dont see (like the travelling between cities!) and exploring how Zuko's presence/lack of presence would change certain events. I also kind of dont wanna re-write the whole episodes, I've technically mapped them out a bit, but my GOD its a huge undertaking and idk if i wanna do that!! So pls, give me ur thoughts, idk how that works on tumblr but i wanna know what other ppl think!! And if ur a reader from ao3 coming to here from my last update omg hii.....
