Okay so for this prompt I knew I HAD to draw this absolutely tragic, heartwrenching, emotional scene. When I first played the game I was lowkey SOBBING when I got to this part. I was so taken aback by how tragic it was (I didn't have any spoilers so I had no clue what would happen). Even now, when Im replaying it I still bawl. It is so sad in the most perfect way. And I kid you not, this is the absolute best pokemon game I have ever played in my entire life. NOTHING will ever compare to this PERFECTION of a game.

Not to mention the song that plays while this scene is happening... it fits the scene perfectly. It definitely adds to the emotion, I probably wouldn't have cried without the volume.

This art piece wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I only used 30 layers this time! But I feel like maybe that's cause I've drawn it a few times before. But this Is a whole new piece. This is Belas first time crying throughout the whole game, though it's not Volts first time.

Chuuya gets a kid at 14 and has to deal with it

Chuuya nakahara is a 15 year old who wants to be completely erased from memory when he dies, simultaneously he wants to fight with everything to keep living (it doesnt work)

4) Vampire au-

Chuuya was born (wrong) into an aristocratic heavily established vampire family with a lot of not so great traditions. after escaping from them the third time he looses it a little bit and decides to now dedicate his life to murdering them all off, as well as anyone who gets in the way. hes aproached by mori ougai the head of a powerful vampire slaying organisation and joins to help his plans. i also gave him a gun

5) God au-

born as the god of luck and fortune chuuya is stolen by humans and placed in a shrine to bring insane luck to the earth. then shit hits the fan. Now hes stuck as the god of curses (and bad luck) and cant walk around without hell breaking loose

6) Plant shop au-

Chuuya nakahara ends up at a police station at 14 and meets murase (as well as some other cops). Chuuya is going to be given a death sentence but after some less than legal talk with his supervisors murase can remove it completely. the only condition is rehabilitating chuuya back into society, which proves a harder task than thought considering a few extra issues that went down in his past.

7) College(idol) au-

At 15 chuuya nakahara is the lead of a world famous pop idol group. Shifty treatment from his manager makes chuuya decide to quit, however on while preforming his last show something technical goes wrong, the stage explodes, the other members got away safe but chuuya was hospitalised. the world assumes him dead and since he contract is over he decides to keep it that way, content with living his life like a normal person now. until hes in collage and it turns out his new roomate was the biggest fan of him and his old group. chaos ensues

8) Sky casino chuuya au-

After hardly a year in the sheep chuuya is found by fyodor and placed inside the sky casino for safe keeping. now at 16 hes very good at his job and very bad at being tollerant of annoying house guests from the port mafia

9) DOA au-

15 goes wrong, chuuya gets hit a lot harder by the sheep and he ends up at fyodors doorstep (through less than natural circumstances). hes been working for the doa since. Dazai and him re-meet at 22 after hes captured by the port mafia. it goes intrestingly.

10) Scene kid au- a fun au where everyone in the show wears some kind of alt fashion (also theres like the worlds impending and quickeningly near end looming over everyone but that doesnt matter)

11) God+Vampire slayer au-

Chuuya is the (born human) reincarnatation of the god/lord of the wild in an era where vampire-like zombies run wild. he meets a boy who turned into a vampire but somehow remained concious and is now working with him and a shifty doctor to blast gore everywhere try and find a cure

12) Ability swap au

Chuuya has no longer human instead of Tainted but keeps his singularity, dazai has flawless but keeps being anything but. They have eachother. (that could be enough)

13) No Yuuko au-

Yuuko (that kid who chuuya got) never actually MEETS chuuya and instead through a long path of events ends up in the custody of a 20 year old dazai. what could possibly go wrong

14) college au 2 eletric boogaloo-

Chuuya nakahara grows up strict catholic and ends up a single parent in some lousey apartment trying to ballence class and like not killing his child. also his roomate is an annoying bastard who wont shut up

Chuuya's raised in a cult and then joins the mafia.

16) Pokemon au Red-

All the bsd charecters live in the world of pokemon. chuuyas a gym leader and secretly a team rocket executive following his bosses order to prevent some kid finding mew

Pokemon exist in the bsd verse! Canon except they all have pokemon to fight with and chuuya may or may not be spiritually connected to a lucario

18) Demon ability au-

Instead of tainted sorrow chuuya has an ability reminiscent of kouyou and kyoukas. (hes still got that singularity unfortunatly but this time its in a huge fucking demon?) his role in the pm changes acordingly

19) Mermaid au- chuuya's a mermaid happily enjoying life on land. Dazai is a mermaid hellbent on dragging chuuya back to the ocean

20) Circus au-

when chuuya joins the port mafia hes placed under lippmanns command instead of kouyou's. unfortunatly its not that easy and the port mafia's fronting as a circus. now chuuyas got to learn how to use rope.

21) Elise au-

On his deathbed mori manages to transfer his ability to chuuya. hes now living through elise. it goes as well as you'd expect now the mafias being run by an 11 year old

22) Chuuya stays with the sheep au-

self explanitory, dazai's plan fails and chuuya never ends up leaving the sheep. then 15 rolls around and verlaine disposes of them. chuuya travels around with verlaine until hes eventually rescued by the flags

23) Ada au-

chuuya moves to the ada after stormbringer. he works with yosano in the infirmary.

24) Demon/Coffee shop au-

Ex-fighting ring demon chuuya runs a coffee shop and tries to be evil (hes bad at it)

25) Chuuya is inside my laptop au-

Dazai finds a beat up laptop on the floor one day and being the cheap person he is decides to take it. the only issue is theres someone (something?) living inside it (its chuuya)

26) Dragon au-

Chuuya nakahara is one of the last dragons of his kind. dazai wants a pet dog but gets something more exotic instead

27) Nyan bungou stray nekos au- nyan neko sugar girls but bsd derailed and i dont know how to explain this now

29) Botw au-

chuuya's a gerudo who isnt that good at fitting in, dazai's a zora next in line for the throne whos bad at everything. together they make a wildfire look like a beach holiday

Short stories, novels, or poems?

Yes, yes, and yes lol.

I tend to write novel-length things purely because I just... keep going XD I usually get more ideas than a short story allows. I do need to work on keeping things to the point sometimes!

But I have written short stories and one-shots (mostly as responses to promts) and I am very technically a published poet, since a few of my poems were published in a collection thanks to a writing competition back in high school .

What genre do you prefer reading?

Fantasy, full stop. I also love books that play on fairy tales and folklore.

Are you a planner or a write as I go kind of person?

I usually like to have a general idea of where I'm going, and figure the rest out along the way. Sometimes I make full outlines when projects get Really Big.

What music do you listen to while writing?

I either put on one of my incredibly random playlists or go to youtube and look for "relaxing [insert video game here] music." Pokemon soundtracks are actually really nice to write to.

Favorite books/movies?

Soooo many lol.

I'm a big fan of Disney and Pixar movies (as one of my previous posts made pretty obvious lol), particularly the Disney renaissance. Adore The Princess Bride. Love Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Love Studio Ghibli movies, personal favorite being Castle in the Sky. Of course, we have the classic Muppet Treasure Island as well. And I love every version of Scott Pilgrim out there, the movie, Netflix anime, and graphic novels are all amazing.

And for books... oh my gods there are too many to list here, but shout outs to Catherynne M. Valente's Fairyland series, the Chrestomanci books by Diana Wynne Jones (as well as Howl's Moving Castle), Raybearer and Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko, and the Hero's Guide series by Christopher Healy. Percy Jackson, too.

A lot of my favorite whump moments come from the good old Deltora Quest series by Emily Rhodda and The Mage of Trelian by Michelle Knudsen.

Any current WIPs?

So many. Too many. I need to escape lol.

Do you like incorporating actual people you know into your writing?

I've based a few characters off of people I know before. Mostly my close friends. One of whom I write with a lot, so we've used each other as inspiration several times lol.

Are you kill happy with your characters?

No no no no no, not at all lolol. It's exactly the opposite. I have so much difficulty permanently killing off characters, to the point that my first novel-length project way back in my first year of high school ended with the villain getting polymorphed into a fish instead of dying. XD

I only do permadeath when it is absolutely necessary for the story. But... well, to quote The Return of Jafar: "You'd be surprised what you could live through."

Coffee or Tea while writing?

Don't usually drink or snack while writing.

Slow or fast writer?

Completely depends on the project, but I would say fairly slow. Especially compared to my writing buddy they're an absolute speed demon lol

If you were in a fantasy world, what would you be?

Depends on the fantasy world, really. Definitely some kind of musician and/or storyteller, like a troubador or something. Maybe some kind of minor nobility, with all the "fun" I've had with the burden of expectations. I would love to have some kind of magic, especially if it's music-based. So..... basically a bard!

I'd also be very likely to be something not fully human, be that an elf or fairy or mermaid... or even a changeling.

Most fav book cliche:

There's a long list! But I really like Found Family stuff, and any time magic comes with A Price.

Least favorite cliche:

Characters getting pointlessly killed off just for the sake of Extra Drama.

Favorite scene to write?

Hurt/comfort, both ends! I especially love anything with added Guilt for one or all parties!

Reason for writing?

To paraphrase Brian David Gilbert: stories come to me in my dreams like a prophet receiving visions from an angry god.

I write because I'm always coming up with different ideas. I write because I was basically designed to study and create stories. Even if I don't physically write anything down, I will always find a way to tell some kind of story, be it just piecing together ideas in my head or through singing Broadway-style songs or even just attempting to draw a character. I write because it's just what I do!

The Transformed Dancer | Under Our Spell

[A Video...? Would you like to watch?]

[The video starts with the stage under a dark shroud, the lights slowly turning one by one as the music starts slowly, a few seconds of lyric-less music as the lights are nearly all on. The announcer calling out the next act, clearly having recently finished the previous one "NOW GIVE IT UP FOR, A NEW COMER ON THE SCENE,"

"THE TRANSFORMED DANCER, BEBE THE SYLVEON AND MINOU THE-... MEW?!"

The crowd cheers and hollers, some whistles scattered amongst the noise as well as they slowly quiet down for the song to be audible again.

One light turns on, revealing a Sylveon, Bebe, with a blue bow on their tail and a blue Eeveelution tuxido, they raise a paw then sets it down to raise the other one, on beat to the music, "Ohh woah, oh woah!~" The lyrics start, the voice is clearly coming from the stage speakers, but it isn't the original singer, it sounds like a younger Marianne and two other voices...

The second light turns on, revealing a half shiny half standard Mew, Minou, said mew has a pink bow on their neck and a pink tail bow, swaying back and forth in the air to the music, "You didn't know that you fell~"

Then the third light turns on, showing Marianne. She's in a knee length flowy dress with bows and ribbons on the sides 'tail' ribbons on the back of the dress to simulate a tail, a choker with a bow on it on her neck, and two long Sylveon ears on a headband on her head... she's wearing her usual deep blue eye liner, along with some soft pink lipstick. "Ohh woah, oh woah~"

"Now that you're under our spell~" A mic near her mouth can be seen as she sings, but if you look at Bebe and Minou, they also have mics on them

Marianne starts to step forward on the stage, raising her right hand to the audience "Blindsided by the beat, clapping your hands, stomping your feet~" She does the actions as she sings, the audience can be heard doing the actions she's saying

"You didn't know that you fell~" Marianne does a small twirl, stopping with her arms open to the audience and a small smile on her face. "Hohh ohh ohh" It is now easy to tell that the two pokemon are singing the back up vocals, small pink hearts floating around Bebe, Disarming Voice.

"Now you've fallen under our spell~" "Ohh oh ohhh ohh~" The Mew's eyes begin to glow, pink and blue bubbles of psychic energy appearing all over the stage, Minou floats in between them, pushing them around to make a bubble stair case for Bebe to climb.

"We've got the music~" The Sylveon begins to jump onto the bubbles singing with Marianne somehow, bouncing on them to get higher and higher till she has her chest puffed out flying high above the stage and crowd, once Bebe stops moving, a soft blue and pink glow can bee seen around their neck... likely Minou translating the singing using telepathy... how its being caught by the video is a mystery. "makes you move it~"

"Got the song~" More hearts begin to fly around the Sylveon as the pokemon begins to strut in place while swaying, dramatically putting one paw in front of the other without actually moving, "that makes you lose it!~"

"We say 'jump!'" Bebe jumps off the highest bubble slowly floating down onto Marianne's shoulders, "You say 'how high?'~" The crowd can be heard saying the lyrics as well.

"Put your hands up to the sky~" Marianne raises her right hand into the air, Bebe standing on their hind legs to put both paws into the air, the audience following their lead, the Minou's eyes begin to glow brighter and brighter, engulfing both the two in psychic power.

Suddenly the Sylveon bursts out from the psychic energy, Marianne in a completely new outfit now themed around Minou. Blue and pink spatters on a short thigh length skirt with soft blue shorts underneath, pink and blue cat ears on her head with her hair in a long pony tail, a long Mew tail with a bow and bell on the end, and the bow choker sill on her neck, just now with a bell on it.

"Oh woah! Oh woah! You didn't know that you fell!~" Marianne and Bebe strut across the stage, Minou flying around Marianne swiftly, doing small flips and and gesturing towards Marianne, clearly a 'Look at her now!'

"Oh woah! Oh woah! Now that you're under our spell!~" Marianne's Sylveon does a spin, sending the hearts that were floating around her out into the crowd, the Mew following after them and bouncing on each of them, making them explode into pink smoke and sparkling light.

"Listen to the sound of my voice...~" Marianne cups the mic closer to her face, making the audio echo a bit more though the speakers, giving a faint haunting effect to the singing. "Hoohh whoaoh~" Somehow the same happens to their voices as well...

"Soon you'll find you don't have a choice~!" The audio continues to echo as she nears the end of the stage, bubbles beginning to form a stair case again. "Hoohh woahhoh!~"

"Captured in the web of my song!~" Marianne steps off the stage- "Hoohhh woahooh!~"

"Soon you'll all be singing alonng~!" The bubble holds and makes her rise above the crowd, people cheer again, as she rises up, Bebe quickly following her on the way up on smaller bubbles with Minou right on her tail, Bebe doing a back flip onto some bubbles that float backward.

The song builds up for a good few moments, Bebe clearly charging something up before raising their paws in the air and sending out a Disarming voice Hyper Voice combo, the hearts swirl and dance around Marianne in the sky with the bubbles.

"Oh woah! Oh woah! You didn't know that you fell!~" Marianne dances among the bubbles and hearts, twirling and spinning, jumping between bubbles, spinning on the tips of her shoes.

The bubble she's on pops, she falls, the audience gasps as she spins in the air but she is caught by a Psychic from Minou, doing a mid air back flip back onto the stage, her Sylveon jumping onto her shoulders from their vantage point again.

"Now that you're under our speeellllll!~" She giggles, much less menacingly then the original song, signaling the end of the performance with a bow, Minou and Bebe (still on her, moving to Mari's back) bowing as well.

The crowd cheers and screams, Bebe hopping off Marianne's back as she rises back up with a smile, waving with both hands.

Pokemon Rejuvenation - Transcript Of Terajuma Friend Group Scene

This is a 1281 word long transcipt of a scene from Pokemon Rejuvenation. This scene is going to be dubbed by myself and a list of other people. This is being hosted by @kaitopedestrian but to make the process easier I've typed up this for myself and the others.

AELITA:   Hey, there she is! (A Pause) Melia, whatever happened to “Don’t stay out too late”?

MELIA:    Sorry, I didn’t even realise how late it’s gotten. (A Pause) I’ve just been staring out at the ocean.

AELITA:   It’s dangerous for a girl to be out alone like this… (A Pause) Especially when that girl has a bounty to her head!

MELIA:    It’s okay, Hapi is on lookout. 

HAPI:      Awesome shiny pokemon noises 

AELITA:  Oh… Guess he is. (A Pause) Still. You’ve been moping ever since we’ve gotten back.

MELIA:    Yeah, I kind of fell apart, I admit…(A Pause) I can’t believe we were tricked like that. As a result, we lost the Sky Relic…  (A Pause) What a major fail…

AELITA:   It’s not like we were tricked…Team Xen really was attacking the Weather Institute. (A Pause) We had to save them regardless. (A Pause) Plus there was nothing to suggest that Team Xen was after the Sky Relic themselves, so… (A Pause) It really isn’t our fault.

MELIA:    Sighs like a girl who had her entire life destroyed by a variety of factors far beyond her control and has since needed to act more mature and capable than she is actually ready to be and also is forced to keep secrets from the people who care most about her. Like seriously she doesn’t even get paid for this heroine shit.

VALARIE:  Could just say hello.

SAKI:    HEEEY YOOUUU GUYS!!!

BRAIXEN: Mind if we join you~?

VALARIE:   I see… So that’s what happened?

MELIA:  Yeah… Zetta and Neved were trailing us and made us shift our attention to the Weather Institute. (A Pause) And because of that, they were able to grab the Relic and escape in a helicopter. (A Pause) It just feels hopeless now.

ADAM:  It’s clear you kids still have a lot to learn still. (He says this shit like he’s older than everyone else I guess? Don’t worry Saki will put him in his place in a minute. A Pause.) There’s always another solution. Even if it’s not immediately obvious.

VALARIE:  Adam’s right, Melia. You can’t give up because of one setback. (A Pause) I know you have more determination than that, or else you wouldn’t have come to rescue us at Blacksteeple.

MELIA:  The pressure’s really on this time, I guess.

BRAIXEN:  It’s true that the stakes are a taaad bit higher than last time. (A Pause) But we’re all here and able to fight, yes? Then there is no need to worry.

ADAM:  Remember, last time we were held back by the rules of Blacksteeple. (A Pause) This time no such limitations exist, and therefore we’re free to act how we want. (A Pause) At the end of the day, we hold a certain power over Team Xen just by existing. (A Pause) As long as we’re valuable to them, we can use that to our advantage.

BRAIXEN: Wow, someone decided to eat their veggies today, huh?

SAKI: The gears in that brain do be whirlin’ tho.

ADAM: Shut up…

VALARIE:  Okay, but I admire that about you, Adam. (A Pause) You’re like… The most optimistic pessimist there is. It’s refreshing.

ADAM:  All I’m saying is that you need to remember that we’re in it with you. (An extra dramatic pause) All of us.

AELITA: We’ll rely on you, and you’ll rely on us. I think that’s a fair trade?

MELIA: You guys…. (A Pause) I know we’ve only been together for a short time, but…(A pause as Melia steels herself to say something corny and embarrassing yet heartwarming and based) I just want you guys to know that each and every one of you feels like family to me.

SAKI: Duuh, you stupid doo-doo head. That’s because we are family.

VALARIE: A weird misshapen, but stable family. (A Pause) These next 18 days are going to be absolute hell, but we can make it through.

INTERCEPTOR: We have to!

MELIA: Interceptor is right. We have to. This isn’t the end.

AELITA:  Only the beginning!

ADAM: By the way, did any of you tell Crawli what happened? (An awkward silence follows, where everyone basically admits without saying anything that they didn’t tell Crawli)

MELIA: Oops.

AELITA: We did run into his dad. So maybe he said something.

ADAM: We should head back to the HQ then and let him know.

SAKI: Heehee… Yeah right, you just wanna go back to the HQ so you can see Sam again!

ADAM: What?

SAKI: I heard you last night! “Oooh Sam!” (A Pause so that the amazing and funny Saki can dodge the embarrassed Adam who chased after her in frustration) “Ooooh Sam. I just want you to hold me!” (A Pause before finishing her infantile taunt) “You’re so cute!”

ADAM: Saki if you don’t stop I’ll tear you in half! (Notice how he doesn’t deny it)

SAKI: Ooh good one. I bet you were saving that line for Sam too?

VALARIE: Oh dear…

BRAIXEN: Hey don’t run this way! You’ll make Adam run me over!

ADAM: Saki Blakeory… (You know it’s real when he uses her full name)

SAKI: Whomp whomp whomp! (This girl is meant to only be like a couple years younger than me. Fuck I remember when I started playing Rejuvenation I was the same age as her. What the fuck)

MELIA: Huh? Hapi? What is it, boy?

VALARIE: Guys, look!

MELIA: Madelis…!

MADELIS: Melia! It’s good to see you again! (A Pause) It’s only been over a month, but it looks like you’ve grown quite a bit!

AELITA: What do you want??

MADELIS: …Oh, and it looks like literally every single one of you is here. (A Pause) Why are you all here? (A Pause) I got a report that only Melia was on the beach, what’s going on? (A Pause) This was MY chance at getting the bounty reward all for myself!

GRUNT: With all due respect, Ma’am. That report was 2 hours ago. (A Pause) If you didn’t spend all that time getting ready and putting makeup on, then we would’ve gotten here 2 hours ago.

MADELIS: Ahaha…(A Pause) There must be some kind of mistake there. (A Pause) What you see is what you get. I don’t wear makeup~!

GRUNT: We have recorded footag-

MADELIS: What you see. Is what you get. Got it? (This is her shouting)

GRUNT: …Got it.

MADELIS: Well, I’m not stupid. I know I’m no match for ALL of you.

BRAIXEN: Debatable.

MADELIS: So I’m just going to leave. Just pretend this never happened! (A Pause) We never met here. Okay? Got it? Good.

MELIA: …You can’t be serious.

VALARIE: I think she’s incredibly serious.

GRUNT: Ma’am, we just got a report that the Sky Relic is secured at Helojak Island.

MADELIS: Could you come here for a moment? (A Pause while Madelis bitch slaps the Grunt so hard he falls to the ground) Ever heard of a text message, idiot?! (A Pause) Why would you say something like that aloud?!

GRUNT: S-sorry…

MADELIS: Get up. We’re going. (A Pause) Just know~! This isn’t over.

VALARIE: We figured that out already.

MADELIS: Hmph, well then.

MELIA: Helojak Island, huh? (A Pause) Thank you Madelis for taking 2 hours to put on makeup.

SAKI: Fam, we gotta tell Crawli about this right away.

MELIA: Crawli’s probably in his office at this time. (A Pause) Hopefully he hasn’t gone to bed yet…

Wonderful Precure Episode 1 Review - Very Wonderful

My review of the new Precure show is finally here! Thanks to Hirogaru Sky, I find the franchise quite entertaining! I can’t wait to see what this show has to offer as it has a different feel to its predecessor!

While Hirogaru Sky was a more high-stakes, fantasy/storybook type of story with princesses, knights and nefarious villains, Wonderful Precure feels more light-hearted as it seems to have low stakes. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad. Pokemon had its fair share of light-hearted anime series and so does Yugioh; I’m a fan of both franchises, so I know what it’s like to enjoy the mature, darker aspects and the light-hearted ones because both are precious. Remember that the target audience for Precure are little kids.

I love the animal themed premise of Wonderful Precure. It seems that everyone in Animal Town have animal companions and live harmoniously with them. Even the major characters have pets. Iroha Inukai owns a Papillon dog named Komugi. Mayu Nekoyashiki owns a cat named Yuki. Satoru Toyama owns a rabbit named Daifuku. There’s also the classic “other world” that Precure often has that is filled with animals too. The GaruGaru, the episodic villains, all seem to be possessed animals in a way.

The fight scene with the GaruGaru doesn’t seem to be as intense as its predecessor as Komugi doesn’t really do kicks and punches and prefers to use barriers and hugs to purify the enemy. Will this change? I mean, I don’t mind the hugs, but not all animals would be susceptible to them in the future if one were to make assumptions. 

The transformation scene is actually super short. I do like that Komugi moves around a lot in a short sequence. Not all transformation have to be minute long segments that is basically rinse or repeat. This sort of reminds me of the evolution scenes in Digimon Ghost Game where it’s not an entire segment, but a short, brief one that has good animation nonetheless. Given how choppy and messy some transformation scenes in Hirogaru Sky were (I’m looking at you, Majesty and Prism), sometimes, it’s best to keep it short and simple.

The series introduces its first animal Precure as Komugi is granted the power to become a Precure in order to protect her owner Iroha (note that while Tsubasa from Hirogaru Sky is technically a bird who can transform into a boy, he’s more of a bird fairy as he’s a fictional bird race and not an actual animal). As a dog, Komugi has typical dog traits from being a menace to their owners when its time to wake them up to having separation anxiety when apart. In Komugi’s case, her separation anxiety is very bad. She gets upset when Iroha leaves for school and even wishes to become human just so she can spend more time with her. As a Precure and a human, Komugi’s dog traits are still present as she says to the GaruGaru that being bad won’t get you treats and thinking running off means racing. She also speaks childishly given that dogs have the intelligence of a two-year-old, so it makes sense that her words and dialogue are a bit choppy. Since this episode mainly showed Komugi as a dog with crippling separation anxiety, I do wonder if her character arc is about overcoming it. Now, it pegs the question of whether Komugi will lose her Precure/human form towards the end of the series because the Mirror Stone/Wonderful Pact is the reason she is able to transform and become human. Losing it means she reverts back to her dog form, most likely. Given how light-hearted this show seems to be, I can’t help wonder how the depressing moments will come in when the time comes? Props to Toei for using a rather obscure dog breed as the main dog. I don’t think I’ve seen media where a Papillon dog is used as a mascot or as a character in a story. I’m not too familiar with Maria Naganawa as a voice actress, but her voice is super cute. It fits Komugi’s childish and cute nature perfectly; it makes her sound like a kid, which makes sense given dogs behave like children at times.

Iroha is actually a lot different from what I expected of her. I didn’t expect that she’d be so outgoing and polite at the same time. I like that! She greets all the animals she sees but is still able to be a conversation starter as she was the one who went up to talk to Satoru without second thoughts. I do like that she has a strong sense of justice as she wanted to protect the boy and his St. Bernard dog by diverting the GaruGaru’s attention towards her; she also plays volleyball. She also seems to be a bit astute as she quickly realized that the girl standing in front of her is Komugi and that the whole situation became too wonderful for her, as she did wish to be able to talk to animals when she was younger. Oh boy, Iroha is gonna have A LOT of explaining to do with her parents regarding this newly bizarre scenario. Iroha is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki. I’m quite familiar with the name as she voiced a lot of mainstream anime characters like Anya Forger from Spy x Family and Frieren from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. I think Tanezaki is extremely talented as I cannot hear Anya or Frieren in Iroha. 

Satoru and Mayu make small appearances, but their personality is shown a lot. Satoru is a bit reserved, but likes to learn. He’s very interested in learning about the origins and background of the Mirror Stone as it’s called the Mirror Stone, but people’s reflections aren’t shown. He’s also the type that seems to get flustered easily as Iroha tells him that she hopes they’re in the same class together. It makes me wonder if they’ve been friends since elementary school. I’m also curious about Daifuku; that bunny is adorable with its basket and lop-ears. Also, I didn’t expect Takuma Terashima to be his voice actor. If you’re not too familiar with voice actors, Terashima is known for being the voice actor of Mahiru Shirota from Servamp and Shiki from Edens Zero. He’s married to Satomi Satou who voiced Tsubasa’s mother in Hirogaru Sky. In terms of magical girl shows, he’s been on one before this, as he was Gero Akoya from Boueibu (a Magical boy show that parodies usual Magical girl genre). Given that his voice actor is quite reputable, it makes me wonder if he’ll continue the trend of having male Precures. I do wonder who Daifuku’s voice actor is and what gender the bunny rabbit is because Iroha used “-chan” which COULD mean the rabbit is female, but it’s mainly used for pets regarding of gender.

Mayu reminds me a bit of Kokone from Delicious Party Precure with her shy personality, but they’re a bit different. Kokone doesn’t really mind being alone or not having people talk to her while Mayu is a nervous wreck around people. Her cat Yuki’s smug expressions are HILARIOUS! I can see why she’s being memed on social media. Mayu is voiced by Reina Ueda, who’s a rising star as of now. I know her as Kanao from Demon Slayer and Miyo from My Happy Marriage (an excellent show if you like supernatural romantasy). Given that Precure characters are expressive, I can’t wait to see Ueda’s range when it comes to voicing Mayu as it does fall into her usual reserved character tropes, but the first episode alone also disproves it. Yuki, the cat, is voiced by Satsumi Matsuda, who voiced Beryberie in Hirogaru Sky. It’s cool that they get voice actors who voiced characters in past shows in this one.

Iroha’s parents seem intriguing too. Yoko, Iroha’s mother, is A BABE. Holy heck, she is beautiful. I’m a woman and I find her dazzling. I do feel bad for her as Komugi doesn’t seem to like her as much as Iroha or her husband. Speaking of Iroha’s dad, he is JACKED! Wow, I guess Iroha’s athletic sense comes from him. It’s cute to see him in a frilly apron and cooking. Komugi does seem to like him a bit more than Yoko as he gives her food; dogs always obey those who give them food (I would know because my dogs follow my mom around thinking she’ll give them snacks or table scraps when they’re mainly loyal to me).

I’m curious to see what this show has to offer as it is a new Precure show. Will it be cute? Will it be depressing? Will I be able to see cute animals? What I am seeing so far is good, so I can’t wait to see more. What are your thoughts on the premiere?

"You... you really mean it, don't you?" regarding Liko when she calls herself a burden

Initially I had an idea on how to go about it but after watching episode 16, I decided to change this into another 'what if' scene between Liko and Dot at the end of that episode. I'm very fond of the bond that they have so hopefully it came across in this piece! I suppose you could see it as LikoDot if you squint haha

Like a solitary bird on a lonely migration, the Brave Asagi glided persistently onward through the calm night sky where the full moon cast its gentle light upon the ruminating girl and her feline. To think that just a few hours ago, she and her friends faced off against an unknown enemy that had no reservations in harming them directly.

If not for the sudden burst of light that guided Liko towards her pendant and Arboliva’s timely appearance, that dangerous enemy might have gotten away with it. 

She lightly shivered from the echoed memory of their voice gloating about erasing her memory again. Not just her but Roy and Dot too. Liko knew that Pokemon were capable of various feats but to come across one that wiped her memories of her precious friends… fear and anger warred within her.

A hot, uncomfortable warmth bubbled within her chest. Anger wasn’t an emotion Liko experienced often, nor one that she wanted to feel in the first place but it naturally came up at the thought of that person taking away something so precious to her. The Rising Volt Tacklers were important to her; they taught her the value of friendship, of forming bonds with people who care for one another. Without them, the Explorers would have made off with her pendant on that night before Friede’s sudden appearance.

How dared they do something so… so vile! Erasing a part of someone like that for no reason other than they could just felt so evil!

But when her thoughts focused on that, fear swiftly doused out that spark, leaving her chilled to the core. Liko knew that so long as her pendant remained with her, the Explorers would come after it. Amethio was no less scary in his own right but at least he would battle and claim the spoils after. This person chose to go the subtle, manipulative route instead up until the very end.

(Liko caught a glimpse of the person though the only real characteristics she remembered were their long hair. The pendant’s light and Arboliva’s appearance took most of her attention at the time).

Once again had it not been for the timely intervention by something or someone, her pendant would have been in the Explorers hands. She wasn’t blind to the fact that things worked out time and time again in the end because of unforeseen, external forces. Friede, that black Rayquaza and now Arboliva. Had they not appeared when they did… 

Another light shiver rippled down her spine. Liko lightly rubbed an arm, an act that went unnoticed by Sprigatito. It briefly lifted its head to look up with a concerned nya?

Liko managed a tiny smile. “Don’t worry Sprigatito, I’m alright.”

Her starter eyed her for awhile longer before settling back into a tight ball by her side. Liko released a slow breath, hands grasped together over her chest.

Ultimately she was glad to have her pendant back but it was at the expense of troubling everyone. A single misstep could have been disastrous… 

The soft swish of the door behind drew her attention back to the present before it could spiral. Liko looked up, surprised to see Dot in person. She went to lean against the railing next to her.

Until today, Liko didn’t expect to see her friend face to face like this. She was content to slowly form a bond with Dot–a fellow Nidothing super fan!–as she didn’t want to push the other girl too much or too quickly. Liko knew how overwhelming it could get, especially to someone who already said that in real life stuff was too troublesome. She had hopes of seeing Dot in person someday but never in her wildest dreams that today would be it.

Her expression crumpled slightly once she recalled seeing Dot hugging Quaxly as that Magneton charged up that attack. Liko placed her friends in danger again… she needed to apologize.

“Um–”

“Hey–”

Both girls paused, falling into a brief awkward silence. Liko cleared her throat before trying again. “Uh, what is it?”

Dot appeared to hesitate, head turning away slightly from her. “Oh, uh… nothing really…”

That sent Quaxly into a small fit with its angry squawks and flapping wings. It seemed that the Water-type’s displeasure flustered her friend.

“I get it, already!” Dot grumbled, turning to properly face her. A few more seconds passed by in silence.

“Thanks for coming to save me,” she spoke at last. 

A smile easily came to Liko even as her heart ached. She didn’t deserve that gratitude seeing that Dot landed in trouble because of her. Still, Liko replied with, “It’s only natural. You did the same to me… even if it was because of me in the first place…”

Liko mumbled that last part but she underestimated how keen her friend’s hearing was. Dot stood up a little straighter from her slouch. Even with her eyes covered by her bangs, Liko sensed the heavy gaze. 

“Wait back up, what do you mean by that?”

Liko had to squash down the sudden urge to curl in on herself. A part of her wanted to assure Dot, maybe wave it off like how Friede was prone to do. The rest didn’t want to add more to her guilt by lying to her friend.

Silence stretched briefly between the pair. At last, Liko relented.

“I… you got into danger because of me. I was a burden to everyone, causing a lot of trouble…” she whispered, grasping her hands atop her lap. 

Sprigatito sensed her silent distress so it got up to rub its head against her arm in attempt to soothe her. Liko managed to free a hand to lightly rub Sprigatito between its ears.

In the meantime, Liko failed to notice the way Dot stared at her in surprise. 

“Liko–you’re not a burden!”

Liko stared at her lap. Her silence easily answered how she really thought about it. Dot released a soft breath beside her.

“You… you really mean it, don’t you?”

“It’s true, isn’t it? I got myself caught and caused trouble to everyone. I put you and Roy in danger. I know that if it wasn’t for Arboliva, we could have had all our memories erased.” Her words rose no more than a whisper, tinged with frustration at herself. 

Dot’s lack of response seemingly confirmed her thoughts. She really was a burden–

“Argh, this is why in real life stuff is such a pain…” Dot muttered, rubbing the back of her head. She took in a steadying breath before clearing her throat, prompting Liko to look up at her.

“Look, the opponent this time was… tricky. They messed with the signal to keep the airship from flying. Made loads of fake accounts to send us on a wild Farfetch’d chase when we were searching for you. They ordered their Pokemon remotely, meaning that they don’t want us to know who they are.” Dot paused, seemingly to catch her breath. 

“You’re not a burden for getting caught up in that. I don’t think even adults could’ve handled the sort of stuff this person did. What’s important is that… you’re safe and back with us. It’s a pain but… I’d do it again to save you cause you’re my friend…”

Dot looked away as she mumbled the last part. Liko hoped that the night hid the warmth that suffused her cheeks. Somehow, Dot’s words chased away that lingering chill, replaced by a soft warmth filling her chest. A smile came unbidden, eyes shimmering. Liko quickly swiped at them with her hand. 

“Thank you Dot. You’re my precious friend too,” she replied earnestly. Just like her, the cover of darkness hid the red tint on Dot’s own cheeks. The other girl mumbled something indistinct, though Liko caught a faint you’re welcome.

While it wasn’t enough to fully chase away her doubts, Liko trusted Dot’s words enough to ease her guilt. This time, a comfortable silence draped over them–which shattered by Quaxly throwing another small fit.

“Okay, okay!” Dot turned back to face her. She took in another steadying breath. “What I really wanted to say is, …uh, I’m sorry.”

“Huh?” Liko couldn’t hide the surprise in her expression. Why did Dot feel the need to apologize?

“I’m sorry for not saying anything. Half was it being a pain, and half of it was me wanting to tell you myself but…”

Now Liko got confused. What was this about?

“You don’t get it?”

Seeing that she didn’t know how to respond to that, Liko nodded ever so slightly, lips set into a polite smile.

“Well, you know, it’s about Nidothing…”

Oh! So was it about that? To think that Dot was going the extra mile of making her feel better.

“Huh? Oh, you’re…” 

“You knew?” Dot looked surprised but really, nothing got past her when it came to Nidothing!

“Of course! You’re a Nidothing super fan!”

“I’m not!” Her swift denial startled Liko. Dot had a whole Nidothing costume didn’t she? Wasn’t that a sign of her being a super fan too? Liko would have gotten one herself if she knew where to buy it in the first place.

Dot smoothed down her bangs in a flustered gesture. “Why can’t you figure it out?” Abruptly, she leaned into Liko’s personal space, pointing at herself. “I… am Nidothing!”

“Eh?” Wait, so Dot wasn’t a Nidothing super fan but Nidothing herself?

The moment it truly registered in her mind, the only thing Liko could do was scream. 

“EHHHHH???”

“Oof, she sure has a set of lungs on her. Still, Murdock would be happy to know about this.” A brief pause as the shadowed figure silently entered the elevator. With how flustered those two were, they didn’t notice. “I think those two would be alright, don’t you think so?”

“Pikapi!”

College student isekai part. Reader is doing a essay on Douma

Summery: Reader is writing an essay on Douma for a College course, however, falls asleep. They dream about The Flame Hashira, and somehow ends up falling into the Demon Slayer World and found by Douma and tries to wake themselves up. Reader is dressed in Star Pajama bottoms and a Pokemon T-shirt. I think I posted this before??? I don't recall

Segment:

You rewatched a video on youtube in regards of the Life of Douma, and got to work. Following the video up with Akaza’s Epic version of his theme song on repeat. It was your current song fixation, and you had a hard time varying from it this week.

It wasn’t long that you continued with the essay. It was five pages and it was only based on Douma’s childhood so far. 

You looked up at the clock, it was 3 am. You yawned with exhaustion finally kicking in. Sleep overtook you fast. 

You dreamt that you were in high school all over again. Normally, your dream self would panic thinking you were about to miss a class, or that you were late for transportation. 

Upon seeing a head of Firey blond hair in front of your classroom you blinked realizing you were dreaming. Looking around the classroom you saw a world map, and multitude of historical figures. 

You were dreaming that Rengoku was your history teacher? Fuck if that was the case he would have inspired you to be a historian ages ago. “I’m spending too much time on Demon Slayer music and fanfictions…and that Essay…”

“SPEAKING OF ESSAYS!” Rengoku’s voice boomed out, “There is one due Monday in regards of the ban of Sword carrying, how people got around the law, and Ronin that went against the law!” 

Oh yeah, if this man was your history teacher in High School, you would have been a historian, with the way he excitedly talked about it, you were excited to write it. You however blinked. Wait this is a dream? I can take this into whatever direction I want!

It wasn’t often that you caught yourself Lucid Dreaming. You stood up from your desk, causing Rengoku to call out your name, “What are you doing?”

You paused, unsure of how or if to answer. The two of you were adults, it was a dream, you could make it spicy, but you never had a dream that actually finished that was Spicy in content.  Rengoku called out your name again sounding confused, and you smiled, “weren’t you teaching us the fineness of swordsmanship sir?”

The scene changed and Rengoku blinked at that, now it was just you and him outside of his family home, the both of you in period clothing, and bokkens in your hands. “YES! I was! Now What I want you to do is five hundred sword lunges in perfect form.”

Your face fell as you came to the realization that Rengoku was training you. All his Tsugoku’s ran off with the exception of Kanroji due to rigorous training. You were a downright moron. Then again it was a dream? You weren’t going to feel it in the morning. 

As you continued your lunges, “Rengoku-Sama, have you ever trained while on clouds?”

Rengoku blinked again, as the two of you randomly were in the sky training on clouds. “Nope, but I am now! This is amazing although frightening!” He started to laugh boisterously as you continued with finishing up your lunges. “Alright! Great job! Be Careful with your step! We’re going to work on the first form of Flame Breathing. Rising Scorching Sun!”

You froze in place, Flame Breathing on a cloud? Would that make it evaporate?  “I thought you only taught Tsugokus how to do Flame Breathing, I assumed, this was just training Rengoku-sama…”

Rengoku said your name, “but you are my Tsugoku! Now watchout! RISING SCORCHING SUN!” He pushed you out of the way of an attacking Pterodactyl and sliced its head off. Your fear of the attack evaporating the cloud was valid, as the cloud fell apart and you started to fall back to the earth, with a sickening feeling in your chest and stomach. 

You sat forward scared shitless, feeling like you actually fell. Your head hurt and it was dark around you. You went to grab at your sheets, only to grab grass. You blinked, That’s not right…

Nothing happened. You closed your eyes, thinking of your bedroom. Expecting to wake up on your soft bed, plush pillow. Opening your eyes this time finding someone walking towards you. As they came closer, you noticed the blondish white hair, and you couldn’t pin down the colors of the eyes, as there were multiple colors shining. Like a rainbow. You heard something spoken in Japanese, and you started shuffling backwards “Oh no no no no no. I was having a nice dream and now it’s Douma, fuck I need to take a break from anime. Come on, wake up.”

The man paused upon hearing his name and tilted his head. You felt yourself backing up into a tree, and you slapped your face. He said something again, and you just cried out, “I DON’T WANT TO BE EATEN! WAAAAA” 

His smile this time fell, however he tilted his head the other way as if in thought. “English? Are you Foreign?” You froze looking up at him, giving him the clue that he was right. “Curious…You’re scared? Why?” He paused, placing a finger to his chin. “You obviously know me, you said my name…something about a dream and being eaten? Am I correct?”

You nodded, “Ye-yes….” You squeaked out. 

“Oh Dear me, rest assured, I don’t eat people.” He smiled tilting his head as he lied, “What is your name since you know mine.” You muttered your name trying to scoot more into the tree. “That’s a pretty name.” Douma reached out a hand, to help you up. “Come on, no reason to be afraid.”

You gulped, muttering to yourself, “Why couldn’t I have had a nightmare with Akaza or something…”

Douma froze, coming to a realization. “You know Akaza? You’re not dreaming Little Dove. You’re coming with me.” One second you were on the ground, the next you were over his shoulder causing you to yelp. 

“Shit shit shit, WAKE UP!” You screamed at yourself. 

Douma hummed, “Again~ you’re not dreaming. But if you’re going to continue screaming, I’m going to have to knock you out Dove.” 

However you couldn’t comprehend how this wasn’t a dream. How were you not sleeping, why wouldn’t you wake up? Did you lose control of your lucid dreaming?

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episodes 4-25 and 4-26: The Risk and Strikeback Two-Parter

I had the wildest fucking dream last night. I was going through book 1 again to copy formatting over to book 2, and for fun I decided to read some of the writing I did- however for some reason, at multiple points in the story I decided to reference a non existent cryptid called "The world's longest carp" as well as supply a photo of it, measurement, and scientific name as well as a few links.

It looked like this and was 100 feet long, by the way. I don't remember it's scientific name, only that it was really long and unpronounceable.

And it'd just be. There. At points it absolutely shouldn't be- the main example in the dream being a more serious chapter (don't recall which), since whenever the phrase "nothing to worry about" or something similar was mentioned, "-except The World's Longest Carp" would get tacked onto the end with the image and all that jazz supplied as well.

I remember in the dream I was really upset that I kept finding it in there, because I didn't remember adding it and it completely destroyed the tone of every scene it appeared in. Looking it up provided some beautiful fanart of it, other cryptids, several pokemon and random anime characters flying in the sky above a countryside.

Doctor Who, but Chronologically 29ish

Fun fact! When we started this project, some Whittaker episodes did not exist, and we’ve skipped one! So Let’s hastily go back in time to 1807. We’ve just seen Tennant make eyes at Madame de Pompadour, we’re about to see Capaldi finally be a good guy and take Bill to the last London Ice Fair. Where are we this episode?

China! 1807 China, a little fishing village that gets annihilated by Sea Devils.

I was rooting for this episode, you know. It sounded great. The guest cast is smoking hot – when Crystal Yu turned up as Mistress Ching the Pirate Queen, I said “Oh no” aloud. When Arthur Lee turned up as Legendary Pirate Ji-hun, Steff said “Oh no” aloud. We are bisexual and week. Also, return of Sea Devils! And a Chinese episode! The TARDIS team is Whittaker, Yaz and Dan! Sounds great!

It’s crap. It’s just crap.

Good points: the banter between the characters is lovely, and I laughed many times. I suspect this is an actor-director. The start makes clear something I already suspected from the Flux stuff we’ve seen – that Dan is actually Yaz’s companion, not the Doctor’s. There’s a very fun scene where they all step out of the TARDIS, and Dan is dressed like a pirate. “What are you wearing?” the Doctor asks, incredulous. “Yaz told me to!” protests Dan. “Yaz!” says the Doctor. “Did you dress Dan in that?” Love it.

The sci-fi plot is okay. The Sea Devils have Team Aqua’s plan to flood the world and make more habitat for Pokemon Sea Devils, which they aim to achieve by swapping the magnetic polarity of the Earth’s poles. “I see!” exclaims a character. “That’s why all the constellations physically changed in the sky!”, a sentence that gave me 50 points of psychic damage and necessitated a quiet lie down.

The absolute worst part is that, continuing a grand tradition of Doctor Who writers trying to use Sea Devils, Silurians or Ice Warriors, these writers didn’t understand the story they were telling. We therefore ONCE AGAIN have an allegory of native people trying to commit genocide to reclaim their stolen lands and needing to be stopped. I am 100% certain that was not intentional, but fucking hell, lads.

But the second worst part is that this episode is absolutely atrociously badly shot. It is appalling. I spent half the episode trying to fucking see, because even in static scenes of two people talking to each other and not moving, the camera would just… slide off the characters, even while they are talking. And this is our second swashbuckling pirate episode featuring swordfights where they didn’t bother getting a choreographer, apparently, and thought they could make up for it by putting the camera in a bag and swinging it about in a windmill to cover the gaps.

At two separate points, two separate scenes, the Doctor offers a hand to Yaz to pull her somewhere. In both, the hand is partially-to-entirely out of shot, making the action unclear. And that is a problem, because THIS IS A DOCTOR/YAZ SHIPPING EPISODE HOLY SHIT????

It turns out Yaz has talked to Dan about this, and he has possibly talked to the Doctor, because there’s a lovely bit where Yaz fully embraces the Useless Lesbian Trope and begs him for details (“What did you say to her?? What did she say to you??? Omg tell me her exact words –“). Towards the end, while the Doctor saves the day and Yaz as ever fails the Sexy Lamp Test, the Doctor gives her a heartfelt confession.

“I can’t do relationships,” she says. “There’s no time. But if I ever did, it would be you. I’ve never felt like this, not since my wife, and I was a different man then.”

PLOT TWIST!!!!! Whomst is her wife??? How exciting. What mysteries are arising this episode.

Interesting, though, because so far, as nice as Yaz is, she’s super bland. Just nothing to her. Even episodes where she’s appeared hyper competent, she’s actually just been doing pointless busy work; she routinely fails the Sexy Lamp Test as standard. I wonder why her? Intriguing. Perhaps she will improve.

Anyway, at the end of the episode they agree to just stay friends and mutually Yearn for each other, and then the Doctor skims a stone INCREDIBLY badly (no srsly tho Jodie does Huddersfield not have a river or something you have to get LOW)

i like to think the reason volo is so surprised that togepi likes him is that he actually hated togepi at first.

now, i'm assuming it's the same togepi as in PLA and dimensional shenanigans mean that he was pulled in with the wrong version of her.

so, allow me to set the scene, under the cut:

this story takes place almost six years before our protagonist (who is akari, in my heart) arrives in hisui. volo, seemingly a young man, arrives at cogita's place, due to a letter she sent to him.

she reveals to him that the pokemon nearby have been spooked badly by something, or someone. he agrees to take a look, if she'll share a particular book with him.

so, volo sets off and finds an injured hisuian decidueye, who attacks him with impunity. during this fight, he notices and correctly deduces that:

a) this decidueye was injured by someone, and

b) he has something to protect, likely a child

because of the book that's promised to him, and because volo sees value in having such a strong pokemon aid him, volo begins his attempts to "befriend" the decidueye.

the next day, while he's still injured (for which cogita displays motherly concern, which volo dismisses due to his resentment of her), he returns to heal the decidueye—and leaves some berries that not only help heal injuries, but are also good for young pokemon to eat.

this goes on for roughly a month before decidueye decides he can trust volo with the existence of his child—togepi, then a helpless egg. and volo, while he refuses to analyze it, actually enjoys spending time with decidueye. it's the first time he's done so in years, since the passing of the two pokemon who had followed him through his childhood (and died for it).

but good things aren't meant to last. though decidueye heals up nicely, he's still rather weak because of his injuries, which were long left untreated. he lasts for another three months before he entrusts togepi, still an egg, to volo, expending the last of his energy to go find an heirloom he and his deceased mate wanted to leave for their child.

and volo hates togepi for it.

every time he looks at the egg, he considerd smashing it. "if it wasn't for you, decidueye would still be alive." he can't fathom decidueye's actions, nor can he accept it as "selflessness (on decidueye's part)" instead of "selfishness (on togepi's part)".

mind you, togepi is an egg. she can't do shit.

but he always stops himself before he does anything he'll regret, eventually convincing himself that raising a pokemon from the beginning ensures loyalty—at least until togepi finds a better master, or learns that volo could do nothing for her father.

but volo, despite how twisted he is, ends up charmed by how togepi follows him around. even if he's rude and cold at times, though he does the bare minimum, she still looks at him as if he's hung the sun, the stars, the moon—even the clouds in the sky. and volo is weak to that genuineness, despite thinking that togepi has every reason to hate him, even though he internally treats it with revulsion.

[now, for an intermission, things volo has definitely thought about togepi:

(after she presents him with a daisy because she thinks it'll look good against his hair) "i wonder if there's anything in that empty head of yours. silly girl, you should be worrying about yourself."

(when togepi tries to change his towel when he gets a fever) "i know that it's only a matter of time. i know that. but if i close my eyes, i can return to the past and take you with me. so, just for today...i..."

(after someone says that it's amazing how well-behaved togepi is) "that's like remarking on a daughter obedient to her father. in exchange for gems and other finery, she plays a quiet, docile fool, until she has no need of him. that's why...i need to find the rest of those plates soon. so that...we can remain together i will never be betrayed."]

and togepi, despite being young, can understand volo is hurting, but is ultimately a good person. volo is not only the closest thing she has to a dad, but she's also the only one who can worm into his heart now, or so cogita says. so she makes it her life's goal to make volo happy, because she hates it when he's unhappy, even if it means making very questionable decisions and hurting someone else she loves.

[now, another intermission—things togepi has definitely thought about volo:

(after he smiles sadly) "ah...don't smile like that." (smushes his cheeks, causing him to snort and laugh) "please let him always be happy. please let me make him happy.”

(after witnessing a father-daughter pokemon duo in the wild) "a father? the way you're looking at them...it seems like you also don't know what a father is." (after being told what a father is) "ah, that's not true. it seems we're not the same. i have a father...and i'm not old enough to be yours..."

(after being told what volo wants to achieve) "if the world is remade...then will you and i ever meet?" (cuddles in beside volo) "but you said, 'we'll do it together.' so...whatever you need me to do...i'll do it."]

after all, it only makes sense that volo's pokemon are equally crazy, and possibly very devoted to him. that craziness is why n lies to volo—it's not that togepi tells n their plans, it's that she's frighteningly devoted to him, almost in the same way some members of team plasma acted.

[by the way, cogita also gifts him some letters from his deceased mother (who was her niece) that she found while cleaning. that's actually the reason she calls him, because it's his mother's birthday. they end up celebrating it for the first time in a looong time, and cogita thinks she might've raised him right (nope)]
