Funniest bit here is that I started writing this, and the og caption said something like "I may need a break soon, have no inspiration and am flooded with school work" and then I never finished it. Oh, spoilers btw for TOA Pairing: Poly!Frazel x gn!reader, Frank Zhang x Reader x Hazel Levesque Request: would yall ever consider writing general dating hcs for poly! frazel? <;3 Word count: ~0.6k Warnings: None! -Asnyox

A poly relationship with Frank and Hazel would form a lot like how Hazel and Frank got together in the books. It was a bit clumsy, but at the time it also felt natural in a sense, and in the end you couldn’t imagine yourself without the two of them.

Early relationship would mean a lot of reassurance to each other of the love between the three of you. Frank is insecure, Hazel is conflicted with herself, and you don't know how to fix any of it. It's normal for a relationship, especially between three people who had not dated before.

After a while (read; after the prophecy of the seven) you guys finally got going stable.  Mostly as Hazel was finally ready to move on from Sammy. There were no life threatening things going on anymore, just deadlines and new responsibilities for Frank as Preator.

Touch would be a big step in your relationship, such as holding hands or kissing. It wasn’t that any of you were adverse to it, but Frank lost it whenever he wanted to initiate anything- and became a blushing mess when kissed on the cheek. It took some getting used to, to be comfortable and learn about the boundaries. After that, it grew naturally. However, PDA is still not something any of you are strong on- partially because of embarrassment, and partially because Camp Jupiter is filled with very judgemental characters, and you all are aware enough to not try them. 

Moving on from touch you all better learn how to communicate properly. Sure, ‘I love you’ is great and all, but are your needs being met? What is filling you with doubt? Any secrets you want to share? Each person in this relationship has learned that the only person you can rely on in the end is yourself and that needs to change. None of you are alone in the world, you don’t have one but two lovers, talk about it! Just! Talk!

Most of your dates would be rather conventional. Camp Jupiter has an entire city at its disposal - so that means you could go on dates and be safe whenever your schedules lined up. Imagine a lot of casual going outs- cafés, perhaps a museum (calling out the colonialism and questionable ways Camp Jupiter acquired the artifacts was a favorite pastime of yours, next to figuring out how Frank's ancestry could tie into certain artifacts. You would be surprised by how many people he was related to.)

Other types of dates would be doing things together- be it painting, watching a movie at home, cuddling or a board game. There was enough of the world to explore from your rooms, and the three of you were ready to explore it. 

Another thing you picked up was training together, Frank wanted to explore more options as he figured out how exactly being a Mars kid would define him. This meant it was a nice challenge for Hazel and you to see if you could beat him. 

When Hazel became a Preator too, your dating life became a little harder. When it was just Frank, you both could still hang out and often found ways to get him to take a break together. But now, both your lovers were swept away by their duties. More often than not, they would have excuses ready to keep working, and neither of them would even consider talking the other down. And the worst part? They now had a place of their own- which didn't have enough room for three people.

It was a rough patch in the relationship, but eventually your lovers came to see how they had been disregarding you, if not the entire relationship by extension. Romance wasn’t dead, it was simply buried beneath paperwork.

one time when i was first getting into fic (~7-8 years ago as of 2022) i read a fic where instead of poseidon yeeting away after getting sally pregnant, zues killed sally so poseidon brought baby percy to hades begging him to protect him and promising percy's hand in marriage to nico at like 3 hours old. they stole percy's whole personality and malewifed him and there was mpreg and nico was the champion of olympus (not a bad plot point but with everything else it was iffy)

oh there was also polyam married leo frank and hazel and frank might've mpregged leo

“Our Last Summer” by ABBA. Again, young love, but more like a fling. Very reminiscent but also sweet. This is if I HAD to give them a romantic song.

LeoxJason. I love it so much it is canon in my mind. The fanart for these silly little guys is so cute but also they are the next Romeo and Juliet. I look at them and I go “OOF” in a good way. 10/10

“Beyond the Sea” by Bobby Darin. They’re always waiting for the right time but it never comes 😔. Sorry in my mind they are happy and live in a cottage. This song is optimistic though!!! Don’t think about it too hard

PiperxAnnabeth. I think it’s cute but I think I haven’t seen them enough to really think about them. VERY COOL THOUGH!!! 7/10.

LeoxNico. I think it’s sweet. I see it as a “getting together romantically after years of friendship” thing. They’re very similar to each other and they’d definitely bond over their pasts! 8/10

“Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone. They back each other up and give each other unconditional love, help each other unlearn bad habits, help each be better and all that :)

JasonxNico. Again, haven’t seen a lot of canon content about them but I do know Nico gets outed to Jason and I think they’d just be friends after that. Like I don’t think Nico would be 100% comfy in a romantic setting? Romantic- 5.9/10. Platonic- 8/10.

“Sleeping With the Television On” by Billy Joel. They’re unsure of themselves, too shy to make the first move on the other, etc. Pushing each other away and all that pining jazz.

RUEGARD

Clarisse LaRuexSilena Beauregard. Tragic, the parallels to Patroclus and Achilles and PARALLELING! Amazing. Personally, I really like the poly ship where it’s Clarisse, Chris, Selena, and Beckendorf (cuz i love Beckendorf and I think they’d be a great support system for each other). By themselves, 9/10. Points deducted cuz they only really interact in TLO.

VALZHANG

LeoxFrank. In the same vein as Jercy because they’re bros. I think a poly relationship between Hazel, Leo, and Frank could be sweet too. But by themselves, romantically, 7/10. Platonic- 10/10, would shenanigan together.

“It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones. They both give off very “jealous of their partners” vibes. Also they like the dance.

alright lemme think about canon ships....

percabeth-- as you said, i love it (10/10 first ship i ever shipped, since tlt-- which i read when i was six. haven't wavered). ik some people use the judo flip scene as a gotcha about percabeth being abusive but i don't see it-- for one, annabeth thinks percy still has the curse of achilles (other stuff too but this isn't my main point so)

caleo- dislike. idk both characters needed more time to be single/more development. seemed like a shove two characters together bc everyone needs to be in a relationship. both of them could use a SIBLING or parent, not a romantic partner

chrisse-- it's okay. i mean both of those characters are mainly minor so most development happens offscreen but overall i think it fits (personally i prefer chrisse and charlena TOGETHER being poly, but post TLO it definitely works)

charlena-- exact same thing as chrisse. VERY sweet how much charlie loved silena.

frazel-- the age difference makes it iffy. like, three years at 13 and 16? weirds me out. if there was no age difference, my only issue would be the lack of development. let them get to know each other before jumping into a relationship. the way rick pushed it like oh they're praetors together was just weird. i like their personalities together though.

jasper/jiper-- no. so much no. i mean just. the relationship is built on a lie, there's no foundation, neither of them GET each other. it was doomed to fail.

solangelo-- i love it. great first canon queer rep. wish we saw more of the development on page but. that's what fanfiction is for ig.

paul/sally- 10/10 i love both of them and they're a great couple.

fierrochase-- again, love them. they're both so funny

Poly Relationship

the seven + Nico + Reyna + Will are all in one big polyamory (bc I’m a multi shipper, everyone is with Nico, feral baby deserves all the love)

Reyna + Annabeth + Leo are ace, Nico is gay, Will and Piper are pan, Jason and Percy are bi, Hazel and Frank are straight

Frazel is together and no one messes with their relationship (if they do Nico pops out of a bush to drag u to the Fields of Punishment)(they’re not really part of the poly but they don’t really understand what it is and felt left out so everyone just treats them as in the poly)

Nico ONLY goes to Jason + Will + Leo + Reyna for premium cuddles, gets head pats from Annabeth and forehead kisses from Piper, Percy sometimes noms his neck/shoulder area and paints Nico’s wrists blue for fun

Nico is an old school romantic, he buys his partners gifts (everyday) and takes them out on romantic dates (one at a time), he caters the dates to their liking (like blue roses, hyacinth, etc.) and he asks the parents for their child’s hand in marriage (even godly parents, by going up to them face to face)

Nico is both touch starved and touch adverse

he is touch adverse some days with everyone even his partners and other days he’s just touch adverse with everyone not in the poly

when he doesn’t want to be touched he bites and does harsh little pokes (not enough to harm) in ppls rib cages with a drakon bone knife

when he’s not touch adverse with people in the poly he is really touch starved and goes looking for attention

he doesn’t directly ask for it but he kinda stands near them and stares.

Annabeth pats his head and he buries his head in her hand or she is big spoon and uses his head as a book rest

Jason gives him bear hugs, Nico kinda climbs up him and rests his head on Jason shoulder, wrapping his legs around Jason’s waist glaring at everyone who passes by

Percy gives Nico hugs too which Nico melts into until Nico gets a little irritated and twitchy and ducks away

Piper cups both his cheeks and kisses his forehead, Nico does a little satisfied nod and walks away

Reyna just straight up picks him up and carries him around like a basketball under her arm

Will walks him over to an empty infirmary bed and tucks him in for a nap after feeding him a little

Nico acts as big spoon and sits behind Leo as he works on a machine, pointing out little things

when Jason goes to wake Nico up he sings Spooky Scary Skeletons and it got to the point where the song was constantly stuck in Nico’s head

when Nico asked Jason to join the poly he asked by singing Spooky Scary Skeletons with 2 accompanying dancing skeletons behind him doing the Tik Tok dance

his partners thought it was so freaking adorable and asked Jason in their own ways

he did it during the Halloween karaoke session around the bonfire

Hestia just HAD to leave the fire to give Nico a hug

Piper, Leo, and Nico make a game out of “Who can borrow(/steal) more of Jason’s clothes without him noticing”

Leo sometimes gets caught in the act

Piper does not get caught raiding Jason’s closet but does get caught wearing said clothes

Nico is KING and doesn’t get caught because he uses the clothes he steals from his significant annoyances to have a nest he sleeps in (in his Underworld room) when he misses the surface

speaking of the sadie thing,,,, i think rr focuses too much on romantic relationships?? like, even in the other books, the halfbloods didnt need to all date, i didnt like that literally all of them were dating, you dont need to be in a relationship to be happy, which i think rr doesnt realize. also they were cousins,, the gods not having dna thing was such bs. half the 7 were okay single

hi anon! this has been in my asks for a few days, so i’m sorry for the wait. i’m assuming this is the post you’re referring to. 

also, before i go into this, i just want to say that these are just my opinions. others may have different ones.

anon, i really do agree with you on this. i’ve talked about this on a lot of posts but it makes me a little upset every time i think about the ways rick fucked up relationships. some of them were fine - like percabeth - because they had an actual base and their story made sense. (not that i’m saying they’re the only ship you can ship, though - totally up to who you want to ship percy & annabeth with, i’m just talking about canon context). 

i feel like the place where rick’s idea of “you need a relationship to be happy” is especially prominent with leo’s relationship with calypso. he already had issues (and potential for actual character development) about being the seventh wheel. putting him with calypso honestly ruined both of their arcs. i’m honestly glad they’re taking a “break” in trials of apollo now because their relationship was really unnecessary. leo’s character arc could have surrounded the fact that he needed to love himself for who he was first, or maybe get some clarity on his past, but rick decided that in order to solve leo’s “problem” of not loving himself for being the only single character on the ship (before nico came along), he’d need a girlfriend.

(also, if you’re interested, here is a post that goes into a different way that I wish would have gone with leo and calypso.)

also, frazel? i didn’t like that. hazel is literally 13/14 (fourteen is more likely I think). while people her age do date, i just feel like her relationship with frank wasn’t necessary to the plot? she’s still young - not to invalidate people her age who do date, but i still don’t think that he needed to put her in a relationship. 

a bigger issue of mine is also that he’s putting 13yo girls in a relationship at all? with guys who are a few years older? sadie, walt, and anubis for example - anubis was a literal god, so he’s even centuries old. walt’s age is honestly complicated because the wiki says he’s sixteen, other people say he’s 14, and apparently his age jumped around in one of the books, so i don’t really know what to say about him. if he is 16, though, then yeah that qualifies as i don’t like it. 

i loved that there was poly rep, but he didn’t do a good job of it by pairing sadie with guys who are older than her (and one who’s actually thousands of years old!)

i just overall really don’t like his mentality towards romantic relationships. the biggest problem, i think, is that he put so little emphasis on friendship and promoted romance so much. incorporating the importance of friendship honestly would have been such a great investment to make into his books! can you imagine all the different moments we could have had with all the seven? leo and percy? jason and annabeth? piper and percy? maybe even some more interaction with nico and the others?

there are some arguments where people say that the idea of demigods finding their soulmates at a young age isn’t a terrible idea. i don’t have much of an opinion on that argument, to be honest, but the issue isn’t that demigods have soulmates. it’s that he puts way too much emphasis on their romantic relationships. sure, they can have soulmates! i don’t mind that at all! but it’s the way he paired almost everyone off that annoys me, and the only people who are single are either super important girls (rachel), girls in the hunters, gods (apollo), and 12 year olds (meg). besides that i don’t really remember many single people. 

i think another argument is that, since he was writing heroes of olympus (where these relationship problems are most prevalent) in the early 2010s (which was vastly different compared to later 2010s), he was probably catering to the audience. that may also be true. and i guess if you consider reyna before trials of apollo, she was also one of the only main people to stay single by the end of the series. but i think the point stands that he still does romanticize romantic relationships too much. reyna may be an outlier (and even then, she ends up joining the hunters if you’ve read trials of apollo) but that doesn’t take away from the fact that a lot of the relationships in the riordanverse aren’t even necessary - they’re just ways for rick to give the characters a “happy ending.” (newsflash - relationships don’t solve everyone’s problems.)

demigods can find soulmates. i don’t care about that. i just wish he put more light on the beauty of friendship and stopped pairing almost everyone off. can’t someone be single just for the sake of being single? do they have to be doing something important?

After Everything Mini Zine

Premise: A zine dedicated to exploring the after effects of key events in the books, and the lives of the demigods post-canon. There is a lot of potential for angst but please be reminded that fluff is fully encouraged and welcomed.

Format: pdf zine. You can print it yourself if you desire or keep it as a digital copy! It will also be free. All participants will receive a digital copy and others will be free to download it at a later date.

Runs from: July-September

Pairings: 

Canon and polyamorous, unpaired character ships (the mods respectfully ask for no Frazel due to age gap being a common squick and trigger. We also respectfully request no poly Solangelo due to potential age gap issues being a common squick and trigger plus one of the mods has expressed discomfort. For clarification none of us are against poly Solangelo, we are merely making sure all mods are comfortable with the content within our zine.)

More information will be posted eventually, including rules for content! (Don't worry! Most content is allowed! It's mainly things like no portrayal of paedophilia and other common squicks and triggers. There'll still be a lot of freedom!)

-I love Reyna, Clarisse, Ella, Calypso and Leo with all my heart, but my favorite character will always be Rachel (And Sadie is my favorite TKC character, and Samirah and Magnus are my favorite MCGA one).

-I'm really fine with the canon ships and they make sense for me, but if I had to rewrite PJO/HOO how I want, I think I would say :

Percabeth (but with a lots more implications of Perachel), Jeyna (or Freyna), Valdangelo, Frazel (or a single Hazel (maybe with a later Dakotazel)) and Piper becoming an amazone (and maybe have a relationship with Kinzie or Hylla). It's one of my many aus, and like I said, I have a plenty.

-my non-canon TKC and MCGA ships would be Magnus x Samirah, Sadie x Zia, Anubis x Carter, Carter x Annabeth, Sadie x Annabeth, Sadie x Leo, Carter x Walt, Samirah x Annabeth, Alex x Rachel, Alex x Reyna, TJ x Magnus...

-I think the weirdest ships are between characters who never met each other, and I have plenty of this, but some of the most ones probably are Clarypso (Clarisse x Calypso), Lityena (Lityerses x Reyna) and Nicoe (Nico x Zoe).

-I like polyships, I have plenty of (less than simple pairing but still some), but I perfectly understand that some people are uncomfortable with them, as long as they respect others opinions. I particularly like : Percalypsobeth, Perachabeth and Jercyna.

Favorite het ship : Preyna. But because I always name it, I could also say Percalypso or Perzoe (even if now I'm more an Ethan move).

Favorite femslash ship : Reynazel I think (or Zoeyna).

Favorite slash ship : Valdangelo and Octhan (Octavian x Ethan)

Favorite Calypso ship : Definitely Percalypso.

Favorite Rachel ship : Definitely Perachel.
