i cried reading this...and I've watched nimona, I read the comic a long time ago too, before nd Stevenson came out as trans, before he knew he was trans, and before I knew I was trans or otherkin, or specifically a polymorph and genderfluid. So as he revamped the story to be a trans allegory, I watched it as trans...but when I watched it, I think it was before I knew I was otherkin, or genderfluid, back when I thought I was agender. I definitely cried watching it back then, but reading this now... But that line...the "don't be so gullible, I wouldn't die, die. I just sure wouldn't be living." I'm crying again, ahhhgrr I didn't intend for this to be a vent. But I'm crying gahhhh.

YES. im a polymorph that also has other kintypes! yes there are polymorphs who are only polymorphs, but i know of at least one other polymorph with another kintype (also being a polymorph is less of a kintype an more of its own nonhuman identity, the kin is probaly so its not confused with the dnd spell or the scientific term) for me i have all my kintypes and then behind them is the void of being a polymorph. and i have been feeling a void of some sorts behoind my kintypes and have realised that feeling was my polymorphness, if that makes any sense...also that last part SOSOSOooooo relatable.

Uhhh can you be a polymorphkin while also having different kintypes?? I've just been seeing polymorphs only be polymorphs and any theriotypes they have are just flickers but I have my kintypes which are set and don't change but I also think I have a polymorph kintype which constantly changes and is also why I'm almost constantly questioning new kintypes ;-;

I am both polykin and a polymorph, but those are sperate identities to me.

And I also agree with ray-without-organs, although I am a cat and a demon and some shit, when I'm specifically connected to my fictiotypes (which are all nonhuman)

for example: its agreeing with a deer therian on being very sad abput how we dont have hoofs and antlers but im a horrifying giant creature from a kids cartoon

fictionkin culture is feeling kinda awkward in average therian/otherkin spaces because everyone else is like. a cat or a demon or a frog or some shit and you’re the Rayman from the Rayman video game series

Yeah!!! As I’ve stated in my blog before we’re a polymorph which, by itself, is kinda hard to find other people identify as! And most polymorphs I see use the term interchangeably with ‘polykin’ (absolutely no hate to polymorphs that do!) but when I say I’m a polymorph… I’m literally a polymorph like THATS my species! I’m a black cloud of mist that can change into practically anything I please but I have weirdly strong connections to specific characters/animals/things/ect…

☆ expression tips for polymorph, polytherians, shapeshifters, and any individuals with numerous forms ☆

it’s an obvious one, but if you like to change your appearance based on your form, then collect various wearable gear. this can be anything like clothes, jewelry, accessories, tails, masks, or even makeshift things that reflect your forms. you can mix and match as much as you’d like — if you’re feeling particularly goatlike and fishlike, you can opt for a fishing shirt with a pair of horns!

of course, gear doesn’t just include wearable things. you can collect plushies, decor, figurines, pieces of art, or any objects that remind you of your kins or forms :)

try experimenting with sounds! you could perhaps learn how to recreate birdsong, copy different kinds of growls and howls, or even invent your own or personal lexicon of words and phrases! another option is finding a playlist of songs or noises that reflect your habitat or home, like rainforest sounds or thematic music

it’s a weirder one, but you can also experiment with your scent with perfume or cologne. this is a subtle yet effective way to convey a different vibe without looking any different

if your diet allows, try branching out to different foods or snacks that may fit your form. for example, on days you feel more rodentlike, you could opt for more leafy and nut based snacks like salad or trail mix. on other days you feel more carnivorous, try a hearty burger or chicken wings instead!

watch documentaries, movies, or even do research based on your current form. learn about hibernation patterns if you’re a bear, watch a documentary on the behaviors of cats if you’re a domestic feline, or watch the how to train your dragon movies if you’re a nightfury

as a shapeshifter myself, i like to keep these things in mind whenever i shift to find ways to express my identity :3 hopefully this helps anyone that may need it !!

It's honestly kinda hard for me to understand if I have a theriotype or anything similar because I literally wanna be any cool creature/character I see, so I have trouble understanding myself. Maybe I'm actually a shapeshifter kin or something, does anyone else have the same problem?

Because these tend to be otherkin centric, putting it plainly: This poll isn't just for otherkin--headmates and 'linkers and other alterhumans who experience a shapeshifter identity are free to answer.

Personally I didn't ever consider myself to have a "true form" for the longest time because all of me is still me and any form is as true or lie as any other. What I am is the personality attached to the shape. So the idea of one needing a "true" form as someone born without one irritated me.

But nowadays I've started feeling more like it'd be alright to call some of my forms "default forms" due to the nature of my shifting being largely influenced by mental shifts and median facets. I always end up on the same few forms in the end, even if I also shift for other deliberate reasons. While I don't have a starting point for what I "should" look like, I have resting forms I'd consider more close to a factory reset, if you will. I wouldn't call them "true" forms but a resting and comfortable state, sure.
