In the original storyboards and script, Brooklynn was supposed to have a panic attack while feeding Gordon the Compsognathus in one scene; she's pretty cool with him in the final cut, though. In another possible draft (from the novelization), she lures a Nasutoceratops out of its pen with apples, treating it gently. In the final show, she dives to push a companion out of the way. Regardless, she still drives through dinosaurs and seems to be without fear.

Obviously, when Red comes out and menaces her in the studio, she's terrified. But then...she's playing with him. She's confident and more than capable as soon as she knows how he works. She's still shaken when she sees him show up on Soyona's orders to execute and underling, but her fear is understandable, because she's still watching a dude die, and it's unpleasant and horrific. She's still not wholly shaken by dinosaurs.

But here? Seeing Red terrifies her. There's no laser pointer, no summons, he just sneaks up behind her and surprises her--and she goes ifull panic mode. Drops the case, falls on the ground, crawls backwards, unable to voice words. She fully regresses, all of the confidence and adjustment and logic lost to total panic.

Because something changed between the time she got attacked and the time she met Red...or rather, she met someone else. Someone who reminded her, face to face, of who she used to be. Who she once was. And what she lost.

I've seen a lot of people writing Danny as a space ancient and Dan and Dani as ghosts with moon and sun cores, being sort of parts, versions of Danny and therefore weaker. Now, consider: Dan and Dani are both powerful ghosts with really cool cores and stuff but Danny is just some guy™

Dan, who came from an alternate timeline and is kind of from the future but also not, is Clockwork's apprentice and will eventually become an ancient of time. He probably only agreed to have some lessons with Clockwork to understand better what happened to him, but he enjoys his apprenticeship now.

Dani, with her love of travelling, loves seeing all the different places the world offers to her, and that includes space and different planets and maybe even parallel universes, and she accidentally ends up being an apprentice of the space ancient. For now she's probably a baby ancient of freedom or something like that, but she might become an ancient of space in the future.

We can also have something like Dan having a core of destruction or Dani being the Speed Force if you want it to be dcxdp, or any headcanon of yours about their cool powers.

And then there's Danny. And yeah, everyone knows that he's super powerful, but also he's just some guy.

It can go different routes. Does everyone know that Danny is just Danny? Or do they think that with siblings (well, technically a clone and an alternate version, but whatever) so powerful, he must be even stronger? Is Danny actually something terrifyingly eldritch and ancient and strong, almost a god, but he just doesn't know himself? Or is he just really some guy?

Now, because it's obvious that I have a dcxdp brainrot, have a regular "JL summons/meets a powerful ghost" but its Dan and Dani, and they keep mentioning their original/brother who won a fight against them at some point. The JL is very concerned about Dan and Dani's godlike powers, and they can't imagine what Danny is like. And then they meet him (in his human form), and it's just a young adult in casual clothes, very friendly and helpful, with no evident powers. Imagine the confusion. Imagine Dan and Dani, radiating power, in their eldritch ghost forms, admitting that fighting Danny for real is the dumbest thing to do and not even they would succeed... And then there's Danny is jeans and silly t-shirt, waving shyly.

Of all the missed opportunities with Gongyi Xiao (of which there are many, why would you do that to my boy), I think the one I pine over most is that open and available invitation to Qing Jing Peak.

Because, if timed right, the possibilities are fucking hilarious.

You’re Gongyi Xiao. Your pride has taken a little bit of a hit after the Immortal Alliance Conference both because everyone expected you to place first (and you didn’t) and your teacher got so distracted by the one who did place first that you’ve felt a little… neglected. But you’re a nice person, and the conference ended with the deaths of so many of your shidi and shimei that you let the petty concerns roll off your back.

Except then the guy who pulled the upset at the conference shows up at your sect and pulls an upset on every other aspect of your life. The girl you like and who you thought liked you has heart eyes for him only, your teacher is definitely putting you on the backburner to the point of handing this guy most of your responsibilities (and he’s killing it, he’s doing amazing, it’s the conference all over again), and everyone else in the sect seems to prefer him to you. No one’s cruel about it, and they’re still listening to you - mostly. Most of the time. But you have the sinking suspicion that if it came to an actual disagreement between the two of you, you know who’d end up on top. Plus he looks just like you, except hotter. Maybe that’s not the kind of thing a guy like Gongyi Xiao outright perceives but there’s a vibe. The vibe of inadequacy.

(And because you’re Gongyi Xiao and a good person, you don’t have the kind of suspicion in your heart to start looking for ulterior motives or conniving plots - but even if you did, what would you find? The guy who is looking more and more like your replacement came to the sect injured. He looks sadly and deeply into the distance every time his original sect or shizun are mentioned. He’s polite. He’s talented. What are you supposed to say, that he survived unexpected disaster at the conference only to hatch some sort of hostile takeover plot in the meantime? Who would believe that.)

So, maybe it’s time to step back. Clear your head. Shake off the ridiculous and unfair jealousy, and give both yourself and Luo Binghe some space. What better time to take Shen Qingqiu up on his offer to visit Qing Jing? You can’t stop what’s happening regardless, so maybe it would be better not to be there while someone else swoops in and steals your whole life. (And maybe, tucked away deep in a not-so-good-of-a-person-after-all corner of your heart, there’s the possibility of slipping a few hints to Shen Qingqiu that his disciple is alive and well at another sect. Purely because Shen Qingqiu deserves not to mourn for someone still alive, and not at all for the sliver of hope that he’ll take the disciple he misses so much back so you can go back to the way things used to be.)

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone else and especially not Gongyi Xiao, Luo Binghe is losing his mind. He had a plan. He was establishing himself. He was moving slowly and carefully so as not to startle Shizun, and this guy gets an invitation? Just, welcomed right in, specially, by Luo Binghe’s teacher? What did he do to deserve that? Is Shen Qingqiu going to poach Gongyi Xiao? As his replacement? So he can have a squeaky clean, good, human disciple like he wanted? Luo Binghe is better than him. He proved it at the conference. He proved it before the conference. He’ll prove it again if he has to. (He’s more attractive than Gongyi Xiao, too, and Shizun can hardly fail to notice if they’re side by side in front of him, so there.)

The Old Palace Master is using every trick in his arsenal to keep Luo Binghe from following right behind Gongyi Xiao while cursing Shen Qingqiu under his breath and frantically moving plans around to push up the date for the peak lord’s fall from grace, Luo Binghe is packing his bags furiously and tearing his own plans to shreds in the wake of his determination to prove himself absolutely irreplaceable, and Gongyi Xiao is enjoying a nice cup of tea and personal tutoring from Shen Qingqiu while making increasingly pointed comments about how sometimes missing-and-presumed-dead disciples just… pop up somewhere, at random, a few years after the fact.

Shen Qingqiu is blissfully (miserably) unaware of the chaos about to descend upon his peak.

5+1 fic of 5 times the Avengers noticed Thor and Loki being uncomfortably intimate, touchy-feely, or just... having those long emotional moments of staring into each other's eyes, and told themselves for the sake of their own sanity that 'it's just a cultural thing' and 'they have a complex relationship, and Thor's just trying to show his baby brother that he loves him'

and the +1 time where Loki walks out of Thor's room and casually joins them for breakfast looking VERY freshly fucked.

Just something about the absolute goofball energy of the first, running into the megalomaniac energy of the second. I feel like President Loki would be all "I am here to rule and nothing's going to stop me!" and the Mobius variant would be confused but on board and also distracted by a dish on another table: "Oh yeah? Cool, cool, tell me more. Hey, are you going to eat that?"

Alabasta Ace is so funny.

Like the strawhats keep commenting that Ace is so polite and restrained compared to Luffy but like. This dude drags himself out of the ocean just to thank them for looking after his brother and offer to help wash dishes. Mans asks "Are these guys bothering you?" and proceeds to blow up an entire fleet with his bare hands. He trips over himself to make sure all of Luffy's crew likes him and no, really, you don't mind that he's a weirdo???? That we, I mean he, are feral little insane guys who take up space and emotional labor and are kind hard to handle? Really???? Cool cool cool hey just a reminder I can help out with anything that needs doing. I'll honestly never get over the fact that TMI spent 6+ books building up the central theme that your parents/origins don't define you, that having demon blood doesn't make one inherently evil & all creatures are worthy of dignity & respect regardless of their strange appearances/mannerisms, just to completely undermine all of that by making one of the main antagonists evil because he has demon blood -_-

im really surprised i dont see more discussion about the sun/cog motifs in fli and how they complement the moon motifs which have become a core part of the series' identity

it feels especially clear in the logo, where both the crescent moon (lunares) and the sun are present, as opposed to the original fantasy life logo which only had the moon.

what's also interesting is how the cog motifs present in mysteria's designs also resemble a sun somewhat, i think it's most obvious in the big cog that also seems to be ranoah's throne (that was also shown half-destroyed in the present day)

there's also this.... solar eclipse depiction(?) seen in the background behind the celestia statue where the strangelings are restored. the orientation of the crescent is also very reminiscent of celestia's hairpiece - makes sense, since the mural is near her statue

i talked abt this before on a priv account, but i feel like rem is meant to parallel yuelia just as the sun parallels the moon. i found it an interesting choice how l5 decided to make a whole new mc for fli when both fl3ds and flo were centered around yuelia. the opening of one of the first teasers (top) seems to reference yuelia's opening dialogue in fl3ds while supposedly being said by rem. it could just be to build fantasy life hype, especially with butterfly fluttering around in the background, but something tells me there has to be more to their connection

one of the more recent trailers (specifically the one from last year's vision) said we "saved" rem from something... feels similar to how the mc saved butterfly from pierre and butch at the start of fl3ds

i also want to point out once again that the flower rem wears in her hair is called a celestia's gift! which is yet another connection between her and yuelia. i swear im gonna be so annoying if it turns out rem and yuelia really do have something between them

also as thanks for reading through all of this ill also point out that the symbol on growler's head and the one on trip's helmet are quite similar

I'm sure it's been discussed at length already but I think it's easy to assume saiyans are strong so their genes are dominant but I (like to) think it's the opposite. It's interesting to think that the ecological nature of a saiyan is stealthy and invasive, and according to Jaco a saiyan invasion was going to be extra dangerous to earth because they look like earthlings (and a lot of other human-like races in the db universe) and one baby saiyan will easily go completely undetected until it starts the extermination process.

so it actually makes a lot of sense to me that a saiyan hybrid would take more physical traits from a local species, while maintaining the potential to house a saiyan's strength and inborn power over ki (which I think due to the story following a group of people who use it is a thing we often forgotten is a super rare and dangerous ability in that universe, and inborn/instinctive to a select few very powerful races). Could also be a fun way to explain why their tails can detach and grow back, since that may be the only real Tell.

because like yeah gohan and goten look like goku but they also look like chichi ykwim? trunks and bulla look like bulma. pan looks like videl. thoughts i chew on.

I also just find parasitism a real good meaty horror concept to put in my little 'this is why everyone's afraid of saiyans' headcanon file along with 'can see in the dark, biologically strategic energy consumption, can go long periods without food or rest' and of course the canonical 'surprise monkey werewolf kaiju'

I'm a bit afraid as to how they're gonna handle Leafstar's blindness (given... I think that's what the blurb is talking about in terms of her vision?) do you have any hope for this or should we expect to brave another ableism storm

They've been..... less bad lately. At least. TBC and ASC have been less outright insensitive lately, compared to DOTC or AVOS, aside from removing Shadowsight's epilepsy at the last moment and saying it was demonic possession all along.

I'd still buckle in for another ableism storm, but honestly, if you're an active fan of Warrior Cats I'd expect you to have your rain slicker handy anyways.

My prediction is that Leafstar is going to get treated in a way that is very frustrating, and not just because she is losing her eyesight. Leafstar has a long history of making stupid descisions to make the plot move, suddenly being a bitch to make other characters look good, and being undermined by assholes like Sharpclaw when she IS right.

So I'm prepared for the worst. I'm just hoping she manages to get a good, memorable death.
