Number two of my Tales from the Orphanage series! (Not a rewrite this time)
Summary: Mother Hubbard shook her head. “[Gwizdo]’s dug up that old stump, you know, the one out front nearly twice his size? And hunkered down in the woodshed with it. Hasn’t come out since he went in, as soon as the doctor determined you’d be fine. Really, that boy, I never understand what he’s thinking. You’re in here injured, and he’s out doing who knows what.” Her words were harsh, but she had a furrow in her brow that didn’t come from anger.

I’m actually LOVING how Rick Riordan, and the other writers of the show, took his initial concept of a Percabeth rivalry fueled by that of their parents and kind of turned it on its head?
Now, instead of Annabeth being wary of Percy because he’s a son of Poseidon, he’s wary of her because she made a callous impression on him. They get off to a rocky start even before finding out who Percy’s father is, and when they finally do, Annabeth doesn’t care. Instead of them fighting because of who their parents are, they’re fighting over their own opposed worldviews.
Then, instead of them arguing over which of the gods is cooler and who was right in the story of Medusa, they realize that, just like Medusa, Annabeth is a victim of her mother and that, unlike Medusa, she is a far kinder and stronger person, unwilling to repeat the cycle of hurt. They realize that, like his father, Percy often acts without considering potential consequences and that, unlike his father, he is a far kinder and stronger person, willing to step up for someone he wronged and whom he cares about.
Instead of Percy and Annabeth’s rivalry being focused on that of their parents, it’s focused on who they are, themselves. But the path to friendship is still the same: a realization that they have each other’s backs, no matter what, because they’re not their parents after all.
I see a lot of new Joel and/or Jimmy viewers and some older ones wonder when they started calling each other babe in the life series, empires or really any video. I’d like to point y’all to MCC All Stars. These were our humble beginnings and none of us have been free ever since
Every time I draw Mario his anatomy is a little different, sorry 😭 (although the cartoonishly large hands were intentional here). I guess I’m still figuring out how to draw him because I’ve never been very good at drawing the bros. I also tried more intense shading because I thought it’d be funny (not sure if I did it correctly tho), other sketches will probably be a lot lighter on shading.
Also, I feel bad that I didn’t necessarily draw Mario strangling Beldam, didn’t know how to go about doing it. As an apology, here’s a Simpsons screenshot edit I made.
Anyway, thank you for the request anon! I’ll be working on the next one but if anyone else would like to send in Paper Mario requests, feel free! I’ll be taking these indefinitely.
I am still obsessed with how fucking rude Armand's little script notes were. "We need an animation here to convey how bad the hoarding was," bitch that is your boyfriend you are selling to his death. It's that necessary for you to let a whole theatre of humans know how bad his depression cave got?
I feel like a lot of people mistake comic relief or goofiness for lack of effort or caring by the creator, and that belies a real lack of understanding of like, writing and humor and art in general.
