I’m labelling this as finished even though it isn’t, it’s one of those projects that will never really be ‘finished’ as it’s going to continue to grow and evolve over time. But I’m marking it as finished because it’s wearable, see those mushroom panels on the sides? I slashed the sides of the vest open and sewed them in to make it larger. I’ve had this vest for over a decade and it was a perfect fit back then and, well, since then I’ve not only gained weight, but I’ve also started testosterone which has resulted in weight redistribution and moved some of the fat from my face and hips to my stomach, so it needed adjusting to be comfortable to wear.
I’ve also sewn on a bunch of patches, technically since I took these photos I’ve added another patch and painted a huge trans flag on the back of it. I really do love my vest and now that it’s getting cold I wear it over my black and red pokemon jacket for an extra layer of warmth.

Finally Friday
I spent two (or three?) days feeling pretty terrible, either from my latest Covid vac on Tuesday or just-one-of-those-things. Today I feel somewhat human again, so I'm going to try to get some outside work done in the afternoon and do the buttons for A's vest this morning (morning barn chores are done, chickens have hot water, etc.)
The vest pattern final few steps are to sew the lining to the outside all around the front, neck, armholes, and bottom, leaving only the sides open. Then you turn the dratted thing inside out, fishing all of through the small open seam at one side. Getting the sides sewn up is a bit trickier than the rest of the seams, but I did get it done and my handstitching on the inner lining is Not Too Bad, I think!
That leaves only the buttonholes (oh, dread!) and attaching the buttons (easy-peasy).
I will also need to look a bit at my pdf copy of my daughter's pre-calculus book, so I can help her with problems involving radians and arcs. The last time I had anything to do with angles measured in radians was probably, uh, 1988. I've got this, tho. I am a mighty mathlete. Right?
Honestly, the buttonholes are way scarier than the radians. I want them to be Very Correct, not just 'ok if you don't look close.'
