RULE 63

Oh the magic of the Island was really, truly beginning to weigh heavily on the Guard. She, yes, she, as Liam was now filling out his typical flannel and jean combination a bit differently. The belt now tightened a bit more, the shirt hanging baggily, as he, or she, or whatever, had woken up cursed by the Island's damn magic and was now, female.

He supposed since he still identified as male, he could still go by he, but Liam hardly knew what any of this meant. All he knew was that he hoped it lasted only the usual 24 hours and went away.

In the mean time, he needed to go about finding himself clothes that fit, at least pants and shoes, as they weren't going to stick on him for long.

Moving through the area of the Island he rarely, and VERY rarely visited--the shopping center in order to buy the first new clothes in probably years. Maybe as much as a decade.

She’d been dreaming, that was the issue. Right before her fucking phone alarm had started beeping incessantly and torn her out of it. Dreaming of Oscar. His hands, his mouth. His whole body, really. The things it’s capable of.

It’s not like she can come in her sleep or anything — she’d had a friend who could do that, back in high school, like a girl version of wet dreams, and she’s always been jealous of it — but she’d been turned on as hell. The bed had been so warm and soft around her, the memory of Oscar holding his body over hers, three fingers deep and breathing hard into her mouth so vivid she swore she could feel the ghost imprint of his skin against hers. If she’d had the time, it would have only taken her a few minutes to get herself off.

But she didn’t. Because she had to get up. For a fucking 9am comms strategy meeting.

Max always tells her off when she says things like this meeting could’ve been an email, says those memes are for the poor fuckers with real jobs, but Lando doesn’t care. She could’ve stayed in bed and jerked off, and now she can’t, and she can already tell she’s going to be making it everyone else’s problem.

Ellie Munson, lead guitarist in amateur rock band Corroded Coffin, repeating her senior year again because she has crap grades and a rebellious streak. Her interests? Dungeons and Dragons (she runs the Hellfire Club as D&M and rules with an iron fist), listening to heavy metal at full volume with the car windows rolled down, and reading (and getting high to) The Hobbit, Dune, and other fantasy books which let her drift away. She was the school pariah because she didn’t play by the same rules - ‘a freak’ - and people just didn’t like her very much. The other students (and most of Hawkins) hissed she was a ‘bad influence’ - a junkie slut, trailer trash, juvenile delinquent - who would no doubt end up just like her shitty mom. Oh they were just waiting for the day she stumbled and proved them right. 

Chris Cunningam, captain of the basketball team and hot-shot athlete with college scholarships coming out of his ears. His interests? Sports, tutoring (his grades were outstanding), and being a perfect all-round good guy who everybody simply fawned over. Guys were lining up to be his buddy and girls wanted to date him. You’d think he’d be this obnoxious douchebag but Chris stood out from his peers - he was kind, patient, always looking out for the little guy. Everyone knew Chris had the perfect future lined up for the taking (a stable high-earning job within his dad’s law firm, a big house with the white picket fence, a beautiful wife and children).

"You lose a bet?" Jessie asked the moment Ricki walked in the door.

Tiff looked up from her laptop to see what Jessie was talking about. Ricki was still in the doorway, tugging off her leather jacket and sporting a curly mullet that she definitely hadn't had the day before.

"Oh my god...please tell me you got all your hair chopped off in a freak accident or something- you didn't choose that, right?" She blurted and Ricki rolled her eyes.

"Ha ha, you guys are hilarious," she said setting her coat aside and crossing the room to peer over Dami's shoulder to see what she was drawing in her sketchbook.

"Well, I approve." Dami commented, quickly closing their notebook so Ricki couldn't see.

"Aw, thanks Dam-" Ricki started but Dami continued.

"I'm certain this new look will be a wonderful deterrent for would-be suitors. Koriand'r must like it as well."

Jessie and Tiff burst into laughter and Ricki sighed, crossing her arms.

"Are you done?" She asked and Jessie just shook her head.

"No, who the fuck told you to get a mullet, big bird? I wanna thank them, I haven't laughed this hard in years!" She cackled, dodging the pillow Ricki threw.

"Okay, okay, I get it. You think the mullet was a mistake. Knock it off, already," Ricki said with a frown.

"First Discowing now this, are you trying to get on Gotham's worst dressed list?" Tiff teased.

"That suit is incredible, you just don't appreciate good retro fashion." Ricki defended.

"At least tell me you didn't pay for someone to do that to you." Jessie said, finally recovering from her laughter.

"When have I ever paid for someone to cut my hair?" Ricki replied.

Tiff hummed. "Are you going through a breakup? An early mid-life crisis? Do we need to stage an intervention?" She asked and Ricki rolled her eyes, sitting on the couch.

"I just wanted a change, okay?"

"Are you changing personas too? I have some name suggestions if you are." Jessie said with a smirk. "Redneck Robin, Mullet Master, The Long-Lost Kryptonian Cousin of Billy-Ray Cyrus-"
