Pulkovo Airport
''Stop laughing at me!'' Christine grumbled, swatting Nikolai's arm while the man kept teasing her, ignoring the looks of the people around them waiting at the Arrivals Gate.
''I'm not laughing at you, solnushko! I just find it endearing that you're so nervous to see your boyfriend''
''I saw him a week ago, and he's not my boyfriend'' Christine scoffed under her mask, ignoring the amused looks that both Olga and Nikolai were giving her.
''Of course not'' Olga smiled gently, and glared at Nikolai when he chuckled.
''So you're not dating''
''Of course not, that's childish'' Christine mumbled, trying to stand on her tiptoes to see among the crowd that was exiting the gates. ''Do you see him?''
''Not yet... oh, yeah, there he is'' Nikolai pointed vaguely in front of him and then waved his hand as high as he could. ''I'd say he looks pissed, but when doesn't he look pissed?''
Nik blinked when he looked down and suddenly, Christine wasn't there.
''And off she goes'' Olga sighed, still smiling, and when Nikolai wrapped an arm around her shoulders she happily snuggled against him, relieved of her duty.
''Totally not dating'' Nikolai was still laughing under his breath, and then laughed louder when she nudged him with her elbow.
*
Ghost was pissed, though. It was clear in his tense shoulders and back, in the way he gripped his duffel bag, in the way he glared upon those that didn't move fast enough out of his way.
He had spent the last two days in several planes and was mostly done with everything and everyone, and the only thing that he wanted was to be the fuck alone and in silence.
Of course, when he saw Nikolai towering over the sea of heads in front of him, Ghost knew the 'silence' part would not be likely to happen. Squinting, he saw Olga beside him, elbowing him on the side for some reason.
And then he saw the blonde head he was looking for, gliding among the crowd in his direction, sometimes even pushing people out of the way, and without realizing, his pacing grew faster.
He even shoved aside a couple of rowdy idiots, but he couldn't care less. The only thing that he wanted right now was to scoop her up in his arms and that was exactly what he did when she was at reach.
Ghost bent down to wrap an arm around the back of her thighs and lifted her up easily, burying his face in the crook of her neck as she circled his neck with her arms. He inhaled through his face mask, deeply, filling his chest with her scent, and nuzzled her neck when he heard her giggle, feeling her fingers tangling on his hair.
''Hi'' Christine whispered, her own covered mouth pressed tightly against his ear, and he maneouvred slowly to support both her and the duffel bag, lifting his head and placing both forearms under her arse as she wrapped her legs around his waist.
''Hi'' Simon whispered back, and closed his eyes for a moment when her forehead touched his. People were still walking past them, greeting others that have arrived in the same plane as him from Istanbul, but he ignored everyone.
''Missed you'' She murmured again, slightly brushing her covered nose against his, and he chuckled, returning the gesture a bit more vigorously, making her laugh.
''Missed you too'' God, how he wished the fucking airport was deserted, to kiss her properly. That would have to do for the moment.
Slowly, reluctand to set her on the floor, he walked towards Nikolai and Olga, listening to Christine chattering away about the things she had seen in The Hermitage Museum.
''Simon'' Olga nodded at him, smiling, and then blinked, surprised, when he reached a hand out to briefly clasp her shoulder and grip it warmly.
''Hi, Olga. Nikolai'' Simon nodded at the Russian, who in turn nodded back without losing his smile.
''Good to see you. Allow me'' Nikolai took Simon's duffle bag, ignoring the glare the other man gave him, and wrapped his arm around Olga's shoulders again to guide them out of the terminal. ''I bet you're hungry. Or sleepy. Maybe both? Let's go to the apartment so we can feed you and then have a nap''
''Not in the same bed, I hope'' Simon chuckled, and both Olga and Christine blushed and looked at him incredulously. Nikolai just barked a loud laugh that made some people look back at him.
''I wouldn't dream of that, I'd find a knife on my back, and I'm not sure which one of you would be the owner''
''Nikolai...'' Olga huffed, rolling her eyes, but had to smile again when looking back, she could see Simon and Christine playfully arguing. She wanted him to set her down because he surely was tired, and he was refusing.
Nikolai followed her gaze and then pulled her closer, kissing the top of her head, his heart swelling seeing her smile.
''Children, right?''
''They're hardly children, Nik. Simon is in his thirties, and Christine is almost there. They are...''
''Totally not dating?'' Nik wiggled his eyebrows at her, and Olga couldn't help but laugh.
''That's what they say''

“The New York City college student arrested in Russia for possession of medical marijuana was released from jail after being sentenced to time served and fined more than $200, reports say.
Audrey Lorber, a 19-year-old resident from Staten Island, was found guilty Monday of “attempting to import marijuana purchased in the U.S. into Russia” after she was arrested at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg with 19 grams of medical marijuana, the New York Post reported citing the Moscow District Court.
Lorber was fined 15,000 rubles ($235), according to a statement released by the press service of St. Petersburg's courts, but was credited for time served, released and exempted from paying the fine.
Lorber will have to stay in Russia for 10 days following her release during which time she, or the government, have the right to appeal the ruling, CBS reported.” (source)

Hm, I wonder what the difference was between Audrey Lorber’s medicinal cannabis from 3 years ago, and Brittney Griner’s medicinal cannabis? I mean, besides the fact that Brittney had less on her? I can’t qwhite figure it out.

Crym and Punishment Sometimes murder is allowed as a treat. (Not for you though, peasant)
Nobody knows who Crym is so just pretend she's 2P and call this piece 2Crime 2Punishment... Incidentally a good alternate name for Yorda Hark Adopadypse
There's this funny thing about Y:DA that plagues my mind ever since I noticed it. I won't go into their context, but there are several nods and references to CrimePun in Y:DA like for starters
Konogg distracts the player with a silver watch just like Raskolnikov before he murders a woman
Glagg grows delirious and paranoid after his 'perfect plan' causes an unplanned death just like Raskolnikov after he murders a woman's sister
Themes of Social Hierarchies and Atonement
and of course
There is a quest literally called Crime & Punishment
and once you notice that you might start to see certain things about the story that will clear up to you that Yoko Taro is a crazy person wtf wtf wtf. Here? Here out of all places? Right in front of my Quirky Video Game Cross-Over?? Did you really think anybody would take this seriously enough to notice any of this???
And I'm perfectly fine with being that guy who shouts into the void that "actually Y:DA is the best, just read this 15-page essay I wrote about how this thing and this thing actually reference a book you don't care about and then three jumps of moon logic later we find ourselves discussing the social mobility of minorities and video games as an art form because I guess that's my life now" only to be told "Bro, It's not that deep" - There is just one problem:
The quest is not called "Crime & Punishment" in Japanese. It's vaguely resembling it in a "X and Y" scheme, but as far as I can tell (using google) it's only called Crime and Punishment in English and German (not in French though) which means my case for "this is defo on purpose" - the only metric of good writing besides "did i like it" - is relying on interpreting a piece of media, which as we all know is not a thing you do with video games.
This situation however also means that one of the following has to be true:
YT meant to do all these CrimePun references and expected people to pick up on them without namedropping the book and the Eng & Ger Localisations knew that (bc of translation notes or something like that) and added a direct reference bc the original quest name was similar anyways.
YT didn't mean to do that and the Eng & Ger Localisations either on their own or together realized that Y:DA had parallels to the book and decided to write CrimePun references into this quest line on their own.
This is just a massive coincidence and everybody involved referenced themes and details of a book that was then also mentioned in two seperate translations by name purely on accident.
Needless to say it's definitely the last one which makes me boo boo the fool as we all know Yoko Taro is a loser and has never used subtext in his life. But if I were ever able to ask him and/or the localisation (who kind of have to know bc they translated it) anything, I would ask them if Y:DA is referencing this book on purpose or not... (YT wouldn't answer that and laugh at me. And then he would call the cops to get me out of his house.)
Anyways, some final notes:
For the background I painted over a woodcut print of the Pulkovo Observatory bc I was lazy and backgrounds are hard. I will accept the withdrawal of my 'Mediocre Art Hobbyist' card for the sin of not being a real artist
Crym's outfit is supposed to resemble Raskolnikov's with his stupid little hat, but we all know that guy's clothes would not color match
....i am indeed actively working on a y:da video essay... i'm sorry in advance... i don't even care about anybody watching it i just want to talk about my favorite piece of video game ever (yes it has gotten that bad please call help)

A 26-year-old woman from Chechnya, Seda Suleymanova, who was forcibly returned to the republic after escaping from her home there, may have been killed by relatives in an “honor killing,” two separate sources told human rights group SK SOS.
On February 6, SK SOS filed a petition with Russia’s Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor’s Office demanding an urgent investigation into these reports.
SK SOS’s press secretary told Mediazona that human rights activists do not have enough information to definitively state that Suleymanova was killed. “We would like for either the prosecutor's office and human rights organizations to investigate the possible murder or for Seda’s family to come out with a statement and show us Seda,” she said.
Suleymanova fled Chechnya, where her family considered her “insufficiently religious.” In August 2023, she was arrested in St. Petersburg and handed over to relatives in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, without the opportunity to consult lawyers, reported SK SOS.
Police said that Suleymanova was suspected of stealing jewelry worth 150,000 rubles (around $1,645). Suleymanova denied the allegations. According to law enforcement officials, she was taken to the airport; however, lawyers were unable to locate her at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport.
Activists at SK SOS have stressed that abductions under the guise of fabricated criminal charges are a common practice Chechen officials use to return people by force.
After Suleymanova’s story gained publicity, Mansur Soltaev, Chechnya’s human rights commissioner, published photos and videos with the woman, saying that “everything is fine with her.” SK SOS noted that Suleymanova does not say a word in any of these clips and appears exhausted. Since then, there has been no information about her.

Scary, Candy, Tombstone 👻
Scary - Whats the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?
I can think of a few, but it’s probably between getting stuck behind the lines of a gilet jaunes protest in Paris and having to beg a French police officer in riot gear with a rifle strapped to his chest to let me leave that area and go back to my hotel, and getting pulled over for extra screening a few years ago at Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg’s international airport) and being questioned for so long that I was afraid they’d never let me leave Russia.
Candy - What's you favorite candy to get when you would go trick or treating?
I’m actually not much of a candy person, at least the types you would typically get trick or treating. But I would probably eat one or two of the fun size Butterfingers, if we were lucky enough to get them. In uni one of my friends brought Waitrose mini-chocolate bars to a Halloween party as our ‘trick or treat’, and I discovered that the lime-coconut ones are addictive.
Tumblr media
Tombstone - Have you ever hung out in a graveyard? Tell me more about it.
On a few different occasions. When I lived in London I used to run the circumference of one in the north of the city pretty regularly. I’ve also been in to one or two to check birth and death dates helping friends with a project. (Undergrad was weird).
