At the beginning of the summer, I was neither aware of 1) From Eroica with Love; nor 2) there being a sizeable queer subset of the Led Zeppelin fandom. Now, less than half a year later, not only am I familiar with the queer Zep fan to Eroica reader pipeline, but I have been down it, and it's been a fun trip.

that’s just for the sake of my personal research (well, curiosity mostly) but!

queer zeppelin fandom, i have a question for you: when and what was the moment when you realised “oh my god jimbert is real” for the first time like?

to start the, let me say, movement, i’ll tell my story first.

to begin with, my dad introduced me to the zeppelin music when i was six, but i’ve never seen them in concert until i was twelve. by that time i got interested in rock a lot and my dad started telling me about the bands and showing the performances on youtube. so one day when i was twelve i saw zep for the first time (it was the 25/5/75 earl’s court so i think the story is very predictable). we’d watched the whole concert and, i swear, the first thing i asked my dad right after the end was “well, the singer and the guitarist… i’m sorry, but did they sleep with each other?” (and the best thing in that story is that my 100% straight dad replied with “i don’t know, maybe????”)

years passed and now, looking back, i just want to say “well, twelve-year-old me, you were asking the right questions”.

but i love how the roles have changed and now my dad is the one asking questions and i’m the storyteller. just recently he asked me about the 1994 no quarter and i sat him down at the kitchen and it was like “okay, well, let me tell you… *starts the non-stop three-hour monologue*”. the thing is that we started from the poor uninvited john paul jones and ended up with me crying over wonderful one. and actually our conversation ended with him saying “wait wait wait plEASE enough for today let me digest all the info about the married couple and their shit, the rest tomorrow” and i feel like i’m doing the right job.

so, ladies, gentlemen and nonbinaries, feel free to tell your stories now!! i guess it would be an interesting experience for all of us – to tell your own stories and to hear the others’ ones!

Oh Shit Omegaverse

I recently had a very compelling thought about what the Omegaverse dynamics would be in Led Zeppelin but I don’t want to be more of a fandom pariah than I am. Queer Led Zeppelin fan is hard enough - there like, 8 of us and even if I was to write it as a tris/alex which is my inclination to give it some distance from actual people that wouldn’t be fooling anyone around here. It also might touch on some Zep fandom third rails and I don’t want to be the guy that does that.

What's your unpopular Led Zeppelin opinion?

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I am not really into shipping real people together. We don’t know who they are, and as someone who used to be in Kpop fandoms and saw how horrific that could be, I don’t really see the appeal of shipping any of the members of Zeppelin together. Not only as a queer person myself, but as someone who has been in many fandoms, and has been listening to Zeppelin since I was a baby really. It just feels creepy to me, so I don’t really interact with it. Or really any of the information surrounding their trysts with groupies, girlfriends, wives, ect… for me its more about their music and the mythology of Zeppelin that matters to me. Plus I dont like how I have seen people on here say they “dont like” a certain wife of a Zepp member, and we really know its because it gets in the way of their fictional ship. PERSONALLY, I dont care if the boys had things for each other or not, and I think there is a fine line between speculation and fetishization. Im not saying all the people who get involved in the Zepp ships do this, but as a queer bisexual who understands how this kinda stuff can spiral outta control, it makes me nervous. Plus real people are not fictional characters, fanfic with fictional people is fine, or a Zepp member and a OC is okay, bc it’s just that…fiction. But when people are shipping two people who actually existed together it feels weird to me. Perhaps its because of where I used to see them online in other fandoms, and those freaked me out too, but alas…

Hope I don’t get crucified here! Thats why I generally just focus on the lads as they are. I just stay away from shipping real people all together. Cheers!💖
