Realistically it's more helpful to use material written by George Martin to theorize about what's going to happen in his books, rather than books written by other people.

So where is the evidence that Gendry is prejudiced against wargs? He doesn't even know what they are. The only times Gendry has to deal with this side of Arya he seems to accept what she says to him without any problems or particular judgments:

If there's one character in Arya's story who isn't obsessed with the supernatural, it's this guy. For example, he has already met the ghost of High Heart and had no particular reaction. When he witnessed the resurrection of Lord Beric, he merely acknowledged that the Red god probably exists and decided to join the Brotherhood. When Lady Stoneheart was resurrected the Brotherhood split but he decided to stay. Why would wargs be so inconceivable to a person who has seen a witch prophesy and two people resurrect before his eyes? If Gendry is prejudiced against the Old gods or magic he has never shown it.

First they are not her ancestors they are the Boltons' men, Robb's men, and Hoster Tully's men. These last two are the people Arya asks him to smith for. He has the right to have an opinion on them after the injustices he has seen them commit. However, he just watches her to see how she reacts to the news that her side is not has good as she tought.

Arya begins her journey in the Riverlands still convinced that "wolves don't eat babies" (to metaphorically quote her own words). Arya is wrong and it's a lesson she learns gradually. The very first step is when Mycah is killed and she realizes that her father's men don't give a damn about this injustice. But then along comes the Boltons, Robb's men, and Hoster's men… Post-Riverlands Arya no longer believes that “wolves don't eat babies”. Now she is a more mature and aware person.

Gendry remains with the Brotherhood even when their original mission is shelved because of Lady Stoneheart. Why? Because he doesn't have nowhere else to go? Yes. Because he is furious that the Freys killed an innocent girl, who was his friend? Probably.

But last we see him in AFFC he's not killing innocent Freys, he's protecting an orphanage. And I think it's interesting to note that when he had just met Arya he didn't care at all about protecting the children, in fact he was willing to abandon them to have a better chance of surviving. Wow character development.

Speaking of Brienne: the reader knows she is innocent. For the characters Brienne is the kingslayer's whore who goes around looking for the Stark girls with a Lannister red sword.

I wait for evidences that Gendry doesn't accept Arya as she is. But only if they come from ASOIAF books. And no, the fact that Gendry thinks highborns unfairly exploit lowborns isn't proof, because Arya totally agrees with him. Simply he knew it 'already 'cause he's lived in poverty all his life, but Arya has only recently experienced this so she need some time to process what is her role as a lady in this.

Continuing with the painter MC can you imagine the RO or a Family Member walking in to MC's room and seeing MC sitting in their chair while is raining regular water and paint from the massive art piece in the ceiling not staining or flooding the room or even damagin the furniture and the other artworks in the room.

The room is covered with absolutely breathtakinly beautiful otherworldly masterpieces that are very much alive (due to their supernatural properties which seem to be stronger when MC is around) as the characters and the scenes MC painted are like living worlds moving as if alive behind the canvas and asking if they need something or have they come to hang out (or have sex if it's the RO's).

(If they came to return the paintings referring to Lorac and Nia, for Lorac the paitings monster came out of the painting and nearly ripped him to pieces and eat him and Nia nearly died due to the painting reappearing good as new and she also noticed the dogs where missing from the painting before hearing them before nearly being mauled to death).

Nia and Lorcan would not look for mc if their paintings did this by the way. They would just leave it by the side of the road. Also they might try to kill mc too if mc was willing kill them 🤷‍♀️

The thing is the novelty would wear off. After you see magic it’s not that exciting anymore. It’s still all very pretty but they wouldn’t be awed by it since it’s common place for mc to have magical paintings. It’s like the town’s reaction to supernatural stuff, after a while you just get used to it. All the characters (minus Victor, Prudence, Orla) would just say hello, hang out with mc and watch them work. It’s the nature of living in a place like this.

So say Imre came in (Nia and Lorcan are currently hiring hit men) he would smile softly at the moving images. It feels like a kaleidoscope. He sits near mc, and they both watch the paintings. Completely at ease.

Pelle's magic surfaced when he was a infant after he mysteriously recovered from an illness his biological family had all but given up on trying to save him from. There were certainly speculations about spiritual intervention as he grew into a toddler as he attracted both spirits and demons like fleas.

He was incredibly emotional as a small child because he had not learned emotional regulation yet. That's already a hurdle for a child who isn't feeling everything from everyone and everything all at once. He cried and screamed a lot much to Deshanna's detriment who could not figure out what had him so upet.

The magic that manifested in him as an infant he had absolutely no control over for years. He technically still doesn't as it is not something to be controlled so much as it is a passive experience.

ie. the last point. The spiritual side of his magic means he has a deep sense for other people's auras and energies. He cannot read people's thoughts but he is sensitive to other people's emotions, energy, and intentions. He can tell when someone is truly happy, sad, angry, even sometimes if they're lying but the last one isn't fail safe he can very well still be deceived. Having a sense for intention simply mean he can tell when someone means to harm him or just doesn't carry about with good intentions for others. It was a skill that was more valued when he was with Clan Lavellan as he could be taken along by hunters to less familiar places and be able to sense humans before they came face to face with them.

On sensing auras, emotions, and intentions: this applies to people, animals, supernatural beings, even living matter. When it comes to things like red lyrium which to him qualifies as living matter he has a very negative reaction physically to being around it. Something about genuinely fills him with a sense of dread that he can't shake. The first time he encountered it in his teens in a cave he had such a strong reaction to it that he dug his heels in the ground and refused to investigate it further, and demanded they leave immediately.

Also on auras: he has complicated feelings about demons as in he doesn't actually believe they are evil and would be very interested to know if their condition can be reversed. He sees them more as lost, hurt, confused. He would sooner want to help guide a demon back to it's former being than to destroy it. It is of course not a popular opinion to hold.

The only living things between people, animals, and the supernatural that will actively attack him unprovoked are indeed people. People's aura is unique in the sense that it can be manipulated and altered by experience and belief. The only animals he has encountered that share this trait are dogs as humans can train them to execute their intentions. They are the only animals he fears for this reason.

Pelle's magic as far as the nature (or keeper I guess?) magic is very influenced by his own philosophy of the world. When he first learned the skill he was 16 and it began with being able to manipulate trees and nature. It actually stopped there until he was Inquisitor because of his philosophy about life and the balance of nature. He did not believe destruction to have a place in the life cycle and so he could not harness anything in nature that destroys rather than symbolizes life. This changed as he was forced to confront this philosophy as Inquisitor with the help of a spirit of grief. He later learns to harness fire and lightning from this experience as Inquisitor.

The first time he harnessed lightning it was an accident and he was very shocked that the lightning in the sky came down and fell into his hands.

Pelle's magic is also somewhat dependent on his environment. For example, he can't summon a tree where this is none or could not summon lightning without rain at first. The emergence of magical elements like fire and lightning as Inquisitor took a good amount of practice and mentorship from other mages who were trained in the craft to guide him.

Prior to these things unlocked his primary sources of magic he could use and are not passive experiences were healing, tree magic, and some force (it's hard to explain, it was like starter fade magic because the force fields either to protect to project were both manifested with fade magic he didn't even know he was using as he does acknowledge the fade as a natural part of the world.)

His chosen specialization is Fade magic as it was a natural progression to the magic he already possesses.

Pelle does not use a staff for magic, he channels magic through his body. The exit points are his hands and his feet. Healing is the only one where there is a third exit point, it's his mouth (healing kisses eyyy.)

If he wasn't already an elf, as they're already known to walk quietly and maintain a lower sense of presence due to learned behavior to deflect attention from humans, the spititual side of is magic does also give him a lower sense of presence if he doesn't announce himself. Came in handy eavesdropping at the Winter Palace.

His eys are naturally brown. They appear amber because of his magic. They were brown till he was about 6 or 7 when he could harness his magic by choice.

Era V Ghouls and an Immortal Sibling Friend

Sunshine: They are the newest summon, so they are very eager to make friends from all walks of life! The species that share Earth are much more diverse and interesting than those in Hell. Things like werewolves, fae, or vampires don't exist there! So she is very excited to make a new friend that has all of these stories to tell! If you are willing, Sunshine would love to come to tea everyday and just here whatever story about your life you are willing to share! They find you the most fascinating person! And when their human tongue is a lot better, you better believe you are getting so many questions!

Ember/Sodo: Depending on how long you knew each other, his presence around you is either suspicious and on guard... or friendly banter. If you two have been friends for a while, it's way more calm and full of mutually loved back and forth. One of Ember's favorite things is whenever you bring up one of your past lives he'll exaggerate. "oh YEAH I remember when you were a pirate and plundered everything! and then you took your ship made of gold and sailed into the sunset!" In turn, you do the same; making fantastical stories about his life in Hell. It's all in good fun. But truthfully, he values having a non-ghoul in his life who understands longer life spans and the changing of times.

Aether: The two of you are like two old men who play chest and reminisce about the past. Like with Ember, Aether appreciates someone who has lived a long life as he has. Humans are amazing, but their lives are a fraction of a ghouls. They don't know what it's like to have lived through a centuries worth of change and not just a few decades. Bonus points if you both lived through the same historical changes. Aether just loves getting a chance to reflect on the past you both shared, whether it is analyzing bygone years or just reminiscing about the good things. Either way, you two are long time buddies.

Rain: You two surprisingly warmed up to each other rather quickly. Like Ember, Rain tends to be cautious around non-humans for instinctual safety reasons. But he's never one to turn down a new polite friendship, despite being on the shyer side. Rain likes to relax by laying in your lap as you tell him stories. Often times its a split between him falling asleep in your lap (being so relaxed) or asking you many questions. Rain is absolutely fascinated by them! But most importantly, he likes to hear stories because of something you don't realize. Your face lights up and you have a nice glow about you when you reminisce about the past. Rain likes to make you happy.

Mountain: At first your presence didn't even phase him. Which was strange for you, considering ghouls tend to be moody around other supernatural beings. But he was always polite and welcoming to you. Which made you strike up a very fast friendship. Another fan of asking you many questions. But you often find your conversations just a back and forth of fun stories. You two often joke that your favor currency is in anecdotes! "I'll get you extra dessert if you tell me the time you were in the Tzar's court!" or "Hey, I'll do your library shift if you tell me the time your tribe took down a Dire Bear in Hell!" It's fun for the both of you! It's also a great topic on the rare occasion you run out of things to talk about.

Cumulus: She was very welcoming to you when you were new. Cumulus finds new people refreshing and a chance to have a good conversation. She's delight when you admit you have an incredibly interesting past! Sometimes she invites you to the days she has tea with the other ghoulettes so you can share stories (if you are comfortable.) You used to get nervous because you felt like you were always talking about yourself too much. As much as you loved sharing your life it felt... rude. Imagine her surprise when you flip the conversation and ask her about HER life. To say the least, you were happy to learn about her and her past! Especially within the clergy and its endeavors.

Cirrus: Cirrus recognized you before you even got to speak to her the first time. One day you joined the clergy and suddenly found a Ghoulette making an intimidating B Line straight for you. It took her addressing you by name for you to realize who she was. Mainly because she was THERE during one of your favorite stories. By a fun twist of fate you BOTH had gotten into a situation that involved running away from vampire hunters AND the Spanish Inquisition at the same time! You almost didn't recognize her with her new military mask and uniform. The first night you reconnected was drinking together and telling everyone your great escape! You two have been good friends since, and always end up telling the story together as a party gag!

Swiss: Fortunately for you, Swiss is the band chatterbox so he LOVES to hear stories! The moment you gave away you were an immortal he asked if you accepted questions. Swiss is so excited to hear all of your stories and ask for ALL of the details. With your permission and comfort he even sets it up so you can tell other people about your life! You end up being the life of band after parties when you tell your coolest adventures. His favorite thing to do is brag about all of the cool historical figures and people you've met in your time. It's very flattering how he loves to hype you up!

Omg i had the most dream ever.

Ok so

I was in a bus and very very social, so I got to talking with this guy and he was like “i know a Spot” and so i went there with him and it was like a country club on the countryside and gave me (idk what this word was supposed to be) vibes, with a splash of Appalachia or even Scandinavia but it was a nice wooden lodge and the atmosphere was constantly moody and cloudy, like it would rain any moment and I really liked it.

It was also very very Christian and there was a church, and we were in the back where the alter boys wear their robes and where all the stuff is stored and there’s these individual mini garden swings which fit one person. So I’m standing up looking down at the guy, and we’re looking at pictures and we see some of this old lady doing some weird cult stuff hereditary style and I’m like ‘that’s cool’ and find out that that lady is still alive and in the church.

Plot twist the church members wanted to find out wtf this woman’s deal was, but she was a very very old member so no one dared ask her. so I was tasked, kind of like a PI to uncover the truth and so i moved to the ranch???? Farm????? Adjoining the church.

There was constantly supernatural stuff happening which was pissing me off. Like a lot of paranormal activity which I kept brushing off as me being mentally ill™️🤪 and it was annoying me a lot. It was giving skinwalker ranch honestly. Anyways. one day I hear footsteps or something and then I see this creature-girl with very long but sparse but freakishly strong hair, and just like two scribbles for eyes

Yk kinda like this and her skin was the texture of a stuffed doll. It didn’t scare me, just made me think “either I’m not as insane as I thought or I have completely lost it”. So I went on a mission to catch her, and found out Actually there were two. they were kind of like sisters? Twins? Idk. But they had very long gangly limbs and were like stuffed dolls. And I was like “k cool, I don’t care” and continued living there, the paranormal activity still happening, which I just brushed off as mental illness™️™️🤪

Then one day, I was near the barn and there was this big-ish puddle of water that I didn’t know the depth of, but assumed it wasn’t that deep, seeing as it was a puddle, but the water was opaque and muddy so I didn’t step in it, because I didn’t have any reason to do so.

So like the lodge, right? The guy? Him and his friends gave me some scalpels as weapons that I was to keep on myself at all times. I was like “ok whatevs” and kept the bunch of scalpels tied with a rubber band in the right pocket of my overalls, and forgot about it. but i wore the same overalls every day so it was cool.

There were two feral cats napping, submerging themselves in the very puddle and I thought “hm that’s kinda strange but who am I to judge all cats are different” and then I noticed, upon closer inspection, that they weren’t real cats at all, but rather felted ones. They looked very real though.

and then the water started bubbling and then one of the cats got dragged in. Not too fast, I had time to see that the cat wore the still serene expression stitched to its face as it was gently pulled down under. The same thing happened with the second cat, so I put my fishing rod in the water hoping to catch something. It did get caught on something heavy, and I was like yay.

And then one of the girls bobbed up, but the hook had just been caught in her hair, which had very strong roots. Cos it was like 4 strands which were caught and her head was already sparsely populated. Anyways, no hint of the cats but she kinda just walked back into the barn or the house and I followed her, and she disappeared after climbing up and disappearing Into a horizontal support beam.

I caught a single strand of her hair and held onto it trying to pull her back up, and she had no expression or reaction. And as I was reaching for the scalpel the strand of hair broke :( Tried doing the same thing for the second time, this time more cautious, but it escaped again.

Day 22 Kobani Worldbuilding Question

22.  What natural disasters are common in this world?

Below are descriptions of the five most destructive natural disasters in Kobani’s history, specifically those which fall after the Era of Calamity. This does not include magical, monstrous, or manmade disasters and atrocities. Some of these non-magical events, such as the Conquest of Arkodai by the Kishic Empire and the Destruction of the city of Nak by the serpent, Joza. Additionally these events are limited to the Eastern World, that is to say not Tarinia or Ulania. That may be a future post.

1. The Jengwe River Flood

Where: Western Mu, Eastern Macia

When: 3257 PD( Post Descent) 

What: The year of 3257 PD was a particularly dark time in Western Mu’s history. The previous years had been marked by severe famine following a possibly supernaturally sourced blight on rice crops. The resulting weakness of Western Mu had attracted raids from marauding Se Qua tribes and the proliferation of the Sao forestfolk. In response to the attacks on his border the Western Mu ruler, Kun Zhe, moved most of his army, the imperial engineers, and sages away from the center of the kingdom towards its borders while many thousands fled from the border lands to the fertile flood plains of the Jengwe River. At the time and for most of Kobani’s history the Jengwe River Valley has been one of the most densely populated regions on the planet. The start of the harvest season in Western Mu, and the mountains to its west, was marked by unusually heavy rains. Due to imperial command pulling sages and engineers away from the center of the kingdom, several dams which had long been in need of repairs were neglected. The dams had been damaged by a number of minor but numerous earthquakes the year before. Floodwaters rushed down from the Khaj mountainss. The resulting chain reaction led to the destruction of a 4 dams and the flooding of several villages and cities. The city of Weshangi and its population of 120,000 were hit particularly hard. In total 3.1 million Wu would lose their lives as a direct result of the floods. An additional 210,000 non-Wu are also counted among the victims. In the aftermath the Kun Dynasty was deposed and replaced by the Bu.

2. The Jharndiwar Fire

Where: The Kingdom of Jharna, Sinru, Southern Macia

When: 4125 PD (Post Descent)

What: The city of Jharndiwar was once the largest and most advanced city in Sinru and, indeed all of Southern Macia. From the years 3754-4125 PD, the city acted as the center of the Jharna Empire, which unified most of northern and central Sinru. The city at its height, roughly 4000 PD, had a population of approximately 1.6 million, the first city in Kobani to reach such a size since the Era of Glass and Metal. By the year 4100 PD, the city had shrunk somewhat, about 1.1 million, as a result of increasingly damaging droughts and the growing prominence of the Ayanji Kingdom in the south. The Jharnese Prince, Pajadwarmada, or as he was later known, The Fanatic, attempted to invigorate the failing city by turning it into a pilgrimage site. To accomplish this, he funded the creation of the Wooden Mountains, the largest wooden structures on Kobani. These temples were larger versions of the wooden temples known as Lapa. Lapa are a traditional element of many Sinrian cultures. The creation of these temples, 15 in total, was a massive task requiring some 78,000 laborers to complete and 4 years. The completion of the temples was marked by great celebration. 127 sages were brought to the palace of Pajadwarmada where they performed what is believed to be among the largest exhibitions of magic in Kobani’s history. The resulting feast lasted 9 days, with the 1400 attendees consuming, among other things, 15 oxen, 27 pigs, 125 chickens, 35 geese, 64 ducks, 3 water buffalo, 34 rabbits, 75 songbirds, 16 gazelle, 218 fish, 78 platters of shellfish, the equivalent of 400 barrels of Sinrian beer, and a further 60 barrels of imported Kishic Wine. The stunt did temporarily manage to reinvigorate the city but only for a short time. After the death of Pajadwarmada and the ascension of his son, Pajakreeda, to the throne and several destructive wars with Ayanji, the city would largely fall into disrepair. By 4125 the city was mostly wooden and mudbrick slums, the royal palace, and the temples being all but abandoned. By this point, the population had dropped to .78 million. An unusually arid dry season followed by a number of thunderstorms had led to a number of wildfires. Shortly after the festival of Muliutaar, the first of the wooden temples caught fire. The fire spread rapidly from temple to temple and then into the city below. By the time the fire had receded, the 15 temples, the royal palace, and 68% of the city has burnt to the ground. Approximately 78,000 people died in the blaze, including Pajakreeda. The city was promptly abandoned; many believed the land to be cursed. The area was later settled by the Asuri Forestfolk. In the aftermath of the fire the Jharna Empire splintered into The Kingdoms of Narama, Hasli, and Jharna, as well as approximately 176 separate, much smaller city-states. It is for this reason that in Kishetal, Sinru is hyperbolically referred to as the land of a thousand kings.

3. The Ikopesia Earthquake and Tsunami

Where: The Island of Ikopesia, Ikopesh, Western Macia

When: 3018 PD

What: The Island of Ikopesia is the largest of the nine islands which make up the lands of Ikopesh. It is also the most heavily inhabited, with Nikurusa being the largest city in Ikopesh, with approximately 120,000 people living there at the time of the earthquake. Ikopesh is the only major kingdom in the Green Sea that is primarily ruled and occupied by a race of forestfolk, the Ikopeshi. The Ikopeshi have had a long history of rivalry with the cities of western Kishetal. In the year 3018 PD the Ikopeshi king, Ekab, led a highly successful raid on the city of Chibal. Chibal at the time was largely undefended as its navy, and many of its warriors had accompanied the fleet of ships looting and conquering the cities of Arkodai. Among the booty was the golden statue of Jalchibia, god of the sea, taken from the Grand Temple of Chibal. The statute became a symbol of Ikopeshi pride. The statue was paraded from city to city across Ikopesh. In each city, the statue was decorated with garlands and ceremonially carved phalluses. With each city, the procession of those following grew larger. By the time the statue had reached Nikurusa it was followed by 14,000 Ikopeshi. What followed was a hearty impromptu celebration on the cliffs west of Nikurusa. The 14,000 Ikopeshi from the procession, along with an additional 30,000 people hailing from Nikurusu gathered on the cliffs. Drinking was rampant, as were poems, shows of magic from the Salt-Speakers, wrestling, dancing, and ceremonial combat. Late on the third night of the celebration, the area was hit by a large earthquake. The city itself was mostly fine; earthquakes were nothing new. However, the earthquake caused the cliff on which the celebrations were taking place to crumble. Of the 44,000 people on the cliffs, approximately  23,000 fell into the sea below. Most were crushed, and some were temporarily able to swim to safety. As survivors rushed to the beach below to help, the resultant tidal wave smashed into the western coast catching many of the survivors. In total, 18,935 Ikopeshi died in the incident. The golden statue of Jalchibia was lost, and its location remains a mystery.

4. The Syshlum Avalanche

Where: The City-State of Syshlum, Kishetal, Western Macia

When: 4524 PD

What: The City of Syshlum is the highest city in Kobani, located high in the Red Cedar Mountains. It sits on the slope of Mt. Kita, the second largest mountain in Kishetal after Mt. Kotom. The city has historically profited from large silver deposits and from the trade and shipment of ice which is a luxury resource throughout most of the Green Sea. Syshlum is uniquely reliant on the villages and towns in the valleys below as its high elevation does not allow for agriculture which would be necessary to support a city of that size, approximately 90,000 people. Syshlum is a theocracy ruled by the priestesses of the Moon Goddess Sonma, whose temple sits at the center of Syshlum. The head of this order sometimes called the Moon Queen or the Maiden of Sonma is the highest figure of religious, legal, and diplomatic authority in Syshlum. The city is one of the few which is actively hostile towards forestfolk. Whereas most city-states will ban or displace various forestfolk populations, the warriors of Syshlum, under the command of the Temple, will actively track down and attack forestfolk. The order of Sonma is notoriously strict. Members take strict vows of celibacy. Priestesses are strictly forbidden from marriage or sex. Even bringing a child into the temple has highly forbidden. The punishment for a priestess disobeying this oath is almost always death, either from stoning or else from banishment into the mountains. The year 4524 saw some of the most intense snowfall in decades. It was shortly after the execution of an oath breaker (the fate of the executed priestess’s child is unknown), the first such occurrence in over a century, that the city was suddenly hit by a massive avalanche/rock slide that had traveled down the side of Mt. Kita. Large portions of the eastern district were buried under several feet of snow and rock. The initial deaths were fairly low at only 67. However, the incident also destroyed several granaries and blocked the routes which brought food into the city. Heavy snow and further avalanches delayed rescue efforts from villages and other city-states. In the ensuing 4 weeks that it took for help to arrive in earnest, 1200 individuals would succumb to illness or starvation. The exact cause of the avalanche is unknown; some suspect the cause may have been supernatural or magic, but this is unproven.

5. The Eruption of Minosata

Where: Arkodai, Southern Kallistera

When: 3000 PD

What: The civilization of Arkodai was amongst the oldest in the Green Sea, contemporary with the founding of Apuna and Shabala. For most of its 1300-year history, Arkodai was the dominant maritime power of the Green Sea. Arkodai was additionally famed for its magical and technological skill, most famously with its creation of Arkodian bronze which is uniquely suited for the creation of magical weapons. Arkodai was a loose confederation of city-states, each run by its own queen or king, while also acknowledging the primacy of a high Sage-King, known as the Spirit Lord. Arkodai’s place of authority in the Green Sea would, in time, be weakened by the rise of new civilizations. Arkodai’s primary rivals were the Ikopeshi Sea-Lords, the Baalic City-States, and the young but powerful Kishic Empire. Feuds and skirmishes with the Kishic empire and their ships were common, but for the most part, the two powers minded their own business. This all changed when the Arkodin Sage-King Kinos, approved of the execution of the captured Kishic prince, Surut. Surut was beloved not only by the Kishic high king, Tarud but also by many of the lords and nobles of the various Kishic cities. The response from Kishetal was immediate. Hundreds of Kishic ships carrying thousands of Kishic warriors sailed for Arkodai. Though greatly outnumbered, the strategic power of the islands and the use of magical weapons allowed the Arkodians to temporarily hold of the Kishic armies. However, five years into the war, in spring 3000 PD, the volcanic island of Minosata violently erupted. Minosata had long been dormant save for occasional tremors, and the warnings of its imminent eruption had been largely ignored or else missed by Arkodian sages. The eruption caused tremors throughout southern Arkodai and cast a massive amount of toxic ash into the air. The resultant cloud and the eruption directly lead to the deaths of 23,890 Arkodians, including several of the Arkodai’s greatest naval minds and sages. The blast and toxic ash destroyed many of the crops grown in southern Arkodai. This massive blow to Arkodai allowed for the successful destruction of Arkodai by the Kishic invaders. Arkodai and its cities were looted and razed. In time the survivors of the twenty-year campaign of destruction would mix with Baalic settlers to form the Korithian people. Though Kishic lords would procure massive amounts of wealth from the endeavor, the war would ultimate lead to the death of the Kishic royal family, the Line of Tamel, and ultimately the fall of a unified Kishic empire.

our system just realised the other world we live in that runs parallel to this one, that we sometimes see happening in dreams, and in that one sometimes see this one in dreams. and the world both parallel worlds can access during sleep too, a liminal space where there are 2 or 3 entities we see as what is called "supernatural" or "higher planes" in both worlds, taught us a ton of things that kept us alive and safe, but otherwise is a space where we can create and do anything, it resets each time we go to it, we will use it to create super fun and super useful things, or we'll use it to play with energy and see how it can be manipulated.

but that might literally be two headspaces. and we didn't realise it because they both are such intensely real places we just assumed we happened to remember unlike others about there being multiple worlds people live in.

our whole system has rotated in and out of wondering if that makes us psychotic, even though it does no harm to us or others, it is just a side effect for our life. it does have the negative impact of us not being afraid of death - in our mind, this world would just be restarted.

but if it's just a headspace. that feels so damn real. we don't have access to it while we are awake at all. it's totally cut off other than remembering basics about it. we remember more about the liminal space than the other world.

but if it is. that explains why our therapist wasn't extremely worried about it. because we told her about it, i think, and mentioned worrying that it was a psychotic belief to see it as real.

but if it is.... we can't change viewing it as an extremely real and important place, it doesn't explain how we will meet people irl and realise we already met them in the other world, no one is exactly the same, but our memories from the other world of them DOES impact our view of them in both worlds, it doesn't explain the fact that 2 or 3 entities literally taught us shit we had no other chance of learning because of how severe the neglect and abuse we endured was. none of the entities were in human form - if we asked, they showed us a semi-human form, but they were spirits, semi invisible moving colours with variation in how they showed shape.

one of the entities taught us how to manage stuff internally. how to sense people's emotions. how to predict their actions. how to see the reasoning for other people's actions, reactions. basically increasing how observant we were. validating our anger.

he was the first one we met. he taught us how to learn from the people outside where we had a bed to sleep in by watching. he's the reason we learned to identify quickly, whether someone was going to be an asshole or not. he's the reason the adults, when we were young, were terrified of us. he's the reason we always spoke truth and that terrified those who were trying to keep power over us. you can't successfully abuse someone who knows how you abuse. he's best seen as this orangeish colour, but closer to purple/brown, depending on the time. he didn't take any particular shape. sometimes he was like rain, a hug, a memory-form, but most often fog.

the next entity was either the same as the last in different coloured form, or was separate. this one was what is now our favourite colour, blueish green, like tropical ocean water.

they never had a gender. it's her fault we have such a complex system of managing everything going on. they worked with the green one, to fix every suicide attempt. i dont know much else of what she did, but I know she taught a lot of us a ton of stuff that is inherent in everything we do.

the last one is the green one, but it's more of a greenish blue, just more like light swamp water. she almost always is the one that's interfered now when things need to be fixed, when we need to know something new.

all of them come from this higher entity, they've never stated what or who that entity is, and they've never said if it's one or multiple entities. for a long time when we were really young, we assumed it was the Christian god. as we found our way out of that religion, we found that we saw that higher entity more like a "source" entity, where life comes from.

all 3 (or 2) of them have confirmed numerous times, they've all been assigned to keep us alive and survive. some of our attempts to die were actually us being angry at them for not helping, because we knew it would be a way to get them to step in that night. we have this saying inside of "if you're going to let us suffer, I'm going to make you suffer too". sometimes they DO say something like 1-3 words in response to us asking something internally, though their communication feels way different than our internal telepathy.

but we've never seen anything with anyone talking about THAT complex of headspaces. about being explicitly taught major skills for emotional intelligence, recognition of emotions in the self and others, without the experience and learning when awake in this world.

even worse, we've never seen or heard about any systems exclusively accessing their headspace during dreams. our real headspaces, the ones we know are headspaces, they are specific locations we've lived or been a lot, we can change doors in nightmares if they are there to escape into one and get out of the nightmare.

if those worlds are just super complex headspaces, at least we would know why others don't seem to know the other worlds they are in. because others might just not actually live in multiple worlds.

A/N: this is my first attempt at a supernatural-themed fic, so I hope it’s not cringey and makes sense. Inspiration hit me while I was listening to the song titled ‘Reckoning’ by Whiskey Myers - it’s a pretty haunting song, but if you listen to it, you’ll find that I went a sort of different direction with the fic. I also used the words from a poem titled ‘Ode to the West Wind’ by Peggy Shelley. I trust that you’ll know it from somewhere else too - it seems that Tommy was into poetry long before he claimed he was haha. Anyways, I’m sorry for babbling. Tommy didn't know what to do anymore. He was lost. A shell of himself. He still couldn't wrap his brain around how suddenly everything changed. One day, his wife was smiling by his side, and the next she was...gone.

She was supposed to go see her parents. They lived back in Small Heath and she liked to travel back to be in their company often. Tommy chose not to accompany her this time. He had work he had to get done; deadlines he had to meet. If only he knew at the time that that'd be the last time that she would try to coax him out of his office.

It was raining that afternoon. Tommy had gotten a driver to take (Y/N) to her parents because he didn't want her to go alone. He thought sending her with someone would be safer. But nobody could have been prepared for what happened on her way there. Visibility was limited but the driver still continued on. Due to the fog and the rain, he had little time to react to the animal that was standing in the middle of the road. In fact, the driver couldn't even identify what type of animal it was. His reaction to the roadblock was to swerve. It wasn't known at the time that they were driving close to a steep embankment. So when the driver swerved, the car rolled over the side. He managed to pull himself out of the wreckage and go off to find someone who could get help to the scene. But when he returned to the crash, he found that (Y/N) didn't make it. She was gone...just like that.

The months after her death passed by slowly for Tommy. His family tried to get him out of the house many times, but he'd turned into a recluse. When he tried to get things done, he'd just stare at the papers. It was like nothing mattered anymore. He stayed inside the confines of his home. The place, which once held so much love and life inside of it, now felt like a tomb. It served as a cruel reminder to what happened, but it was all that was left of the two of them.

Sleeping was also hard for him. He'd taken for granted the many nights where she would try to get him to come to bed with her. Of course, he wouldn't listen, and she'd go to bed upset. But that still didn't stop her from snuggling into his embrace whenever he did retire for the night. He used to love that feeling; that feeling that he'd never be able to get to experience again. No matter how hard he tried, or how tired he was, he wasn't able to get to sleep. He couldn't lay in their bed. It wasn't the same without her by his side. He wasn't able to sleep alone.

So he took to staying up all night. Him sitting in a drink and opiate induced haze was the closest thing he got to sleeping. It helped to clear his head of his misery for a moment in time; helped him to forget the fact that his wife was gone, and that she was never coming back.

It was in those early hours of the morning, sitting in a haze, that he started to notice things. Things that weren't quite natural, or explainable. At first, he thought it was from the vices he'd been using to help him cope; thought that they were making him hallucinate, but it still continued on the (few) nights he was sober.

It started with him seeing something out of the corner of his eye. Like someone was standing just out of his line of sight. Each time he tried to look and see who it might be, to see if someone was actually there, the figure would disappear. He also thought at times that he could see someone moving, but the second he'd go to focus on it, it would be gone. He tried to connect it to something rational, but could find no explanation for it.

Then smells started appearing out of nowhere. He'd be sitting at his desk in his office, trying desperately to get work done, and the scent of (Y/N)'s perfume would waft through the air. It always seemed to come at a certain time on the nights when it happened: the time of night that she used to come in and attempt to get him to come to sleep with her. The smell made him stop. It made him glance up in hopes that he'd been stuck in a dream for the last eight months and that she was coming into his office to see him, like it was any other normal night. But she wasn't there. And much like the figures he saw out of the corner of his eye, the smell would disappear as quickly as it came on.

After that came noises. The sound of footsteps echoing down the hall, the hushed whisper of what he swore was her voice. It never had any vocal tone to it, and he could never understand what she was saying, but he swore that it was her. It had to be.

One night in particular it happened to be raining really hard. Tommy was, once again, sitting in the chair behind his desk, trying to get some work done. Trying was a bit of an exaggeration. He had just been staring at a blank piece of paper for the last forty minutes. He'd glanced up at the doorway several times, each time thinking that he saw someone there, but he'd look up to see no one.

Then he heard someone walking around downstairs. He knew it to be coming from the main entry room because footsteps on the tile always echoed up the grand staircase and down the hall his office was off of. He listened to them as they continued for an unknown amount of minutes. Whoever was making them sounded like they were walking in circles.

This is where Tommy became confused. He knew for a fact that none of his staff were downstairs. He only kept a small number of workers now, and they'd gone to bed for the night...he was sure of that. So he decided to stand from his chair, downing the rest of the whisky sitting in his glass before he exited his office.

"I came back, Tommy," he heard the sweetest voice say the second he stepped into the section of the hall that overlooked the entry below. Like before, he saw something, or someone, standing below him out of the corner of his eye. But this time, when he turned to face it straight on, the person stayed. And that person was (Y/N).

Tommy's eyes widened as he realized that his wife was standing below him. "(Y/N)..." he breathed out in confusion, blinking several times after he spoke. She was still there when he stopped.

"I came all the way back here to see you, Tommy," she told him, standing as still as ever as he slowly descended the steps.

"You...you did," he stammered out. His mind was running at a million miles a minute as he tried to make sense of what was going on in front of him. Was his wife really standing in front of him?

"You never come to see me, Tommy," was the next thing that she said. She was still standing in the same spot, the only movement she was making was her whole body turning to face him as he came down the segmented staircase.

Tommy felt a pang of guilt in his heart when he heard that. He hadn't been to her grave since the funeral. He couldn't bring himself to do it. The emotions were still too raw, and he didn't want to feel them. He, instead, stayed locked up in his home, hiding from the fact that she was gone. Hiding from the truth. "I know, love. I'm so sorry," he apologized to her as he stopped on the landing of the last set of steps. He could see her more clearly now. "You...you're hurt, (Y/N)," he breathed, now noticing the scratches and bruises that adorned her face and exposed arms.

"This is what happened to me, Tommy," she told him. "It happened so fast. It was sudden. I didn't even know..."

Tears were now welling up in his eyes as he heard what she said. He wondered why she trailed off; wondered what else she was going to tell him. His mind was too jumbled at the moment to even think of what to say next. "I miss you," was all he was able to get out.

"I know," she nodded her head ever so gently.

"But you came back. You're here now," he breathed, finally taking more steps to get closer to her. He needed to feel her in his arms again. To feel the warmth she radiated.

"I have to go, Tommy," she told him just as he stepped off the final step. He was only a few feet away from her now. He could see the peaceful expression she wore. Seeing it brought him a feeling of peace like he hadn't experienced in so long.

"No...stay," he begged her, stepping closer. Just before he could stop in front of her, she dissipated into the air. He was met with nothingness before what felt like a cold wind rushed both through and around him. It encompassed him for a moment and made him fill with a sudden feeling of sadness. He couldn't hold back the tears anymore, and he dropped down to his knees as they started to fall down his cheeks. "(Y/N)..." he breathed through his sobs. She was just here a moment ago. Standing right in front of him. Seeing her made him feel peace. Now she was gone again. He was alone once more. As the feeling of cold dissipated much like the presence of her did, Tommy pulled himself back up off the ground. He then moved to the front room and got himself a drink before sitting on the couch. He fell deeper into his nightly haze and hoped that she'd visit him again...but she didn't.

It was hard to believe that an entire year had passed. That he'd lived an entire year without her. He'd seen (Y/N) several more times after that night. Each was much like the first. He'd approach her only to have her disappear the second he was in front of her. But it helped him to cope with his feelings. It helped him to hide from the fact that she was gone. Seeing her made him feel normal again; made him feel at peace. Now, he wanted to feel at peace for good.

He finally traveled to the place where her body had been laid to rest. It was a foggy day, and it couldn't have been more fitting. He was struck with sadness when he first approached her grave. This was the exact reason why he chose not to come here. It made it all too real for him. But then he remembered what he would do; that soon he would be with her. That gave him the ability to carry on. He came to a stop in front of her headstone, squinting slightly to read the inscription that was etched into the stone: (Y/N) Shelby, 1894-1924. "If winter comes, can spring be far behind?" The quote was from one of her favorite poems: 'Ode to the West Wind' by Percy Shelley. It was a rather bleak one, but she chose to focus on its last stanza, which is where this line comes from. He remembered when she first told him about it. She said that that line shows that even in the middle of the darkness of winter, you can hold onto the hope that spring would come soon. That even in the darkness that is death, you can also celebrate life.

Tommy stared at the stone for a few more minutes before he fell down beside it. On either side of his legs, he set down the two things he'd been holding. On his left sat a half-finished bottle of whisky, one of the things that helped him muster up the ability to visit her grave. On his right, a revolver. The very thing that would allow him to see her again...for good. He brought the bottle to his lips and took a drink, trying to wash away the tears with the amber liquid. It was no use. They still rolled down his cheeks when he sat the bottle back on the ground.

"I'll be with you soon, my love," he said then, speaking to the empty air around him in hopes that she was listening. He rested back against her headstone and looked up at the cloudy sky. He hated that this was the closest he was able to get to her.

He then smelt her perfume on the wind as it blew by him and it made him wonder if he was just hallucinating. If it was his mind making him think that she was there. But then he heard her voice: "you came, Tommy."

He looked straight ahead of him again, seeing a figure out of the corner of his eye. Slowly, he turned his head in hopes that it wouldn't disappear. She didn't. Several feet away to the left of him, (Y/N) was sitting on the stone bench. She was covered in the same cuts and bruises that he saw the first time she'd come to him, but she also had a peaceful expression on her face. "I came," he breathed, feeling at peace as he saw her again. The tears stopped falling as he stared at her, unable to look away, as if he was in some type of trance.

"Don't be scared," she told him then. Her sweet voice was like music to his ears. It further spurred him down the path of doing what he ultimately came here to do.

"I'm not," he shook his head, "I'm not scared. I'm just all alone," he told her, his voice shaky.

"You're not alone, Tommy. I am with you."

Hearing her say this made his heart drop. Because it wasn't true. She wasn't with him. Sure, he could feel her at times, but those moments weren't enough. He needed to be with her for good. For eternity. "I will be lying next to you soon," he told her, his right hand going to grip the handle of the revolver laying at his side.

Then he watched the look of peace leave her face. It took his feeling along with it and replaced it with sadness and a bit of fear. "You won't be. Not like that. You'll be stuck. They won't let you pass," she warned him, as if she knew what he was contemplating. "Go on, Tommy. You're not done yet. My work was finished, but you have much more to do. I'll be waiting for you when it's time but now you have to go on without me."

"What if I don't want to?" he dared to ask, his stubbornness shining through, "I can't go on without you. I can't come to terms with the truth."

"I will be with you, Tommy. I am with you. Always." The feeling of peace returned with her words. "I love you." With that, her figure disappeared, leaving Tommy alone again.

"No..." he breathed out, blinking a few times in hopes that she'd reappear. But she didn't. She was gone. "No, my love, no," he stammered out, his head dropping down. His eyes fell onto the revolver. He knew what he had to do. But he couldn't bring his hand to raise it any higher. Like it was too heavy to hold. "Please," he begged, several sobs falling from his lips then. "Please, let me."

All of a sudden, he left like was being embraced. Like two warm arms had wrapped around his body and brought him into shelter from the storm. And the feeling of peace returned. The words (Y/N) had just said echoed through his mind: "I will be with you...I am with you...always." The phrases kept repeating through his head, becoming a sort of a mantra to him. His grip on the revolver eased up. He let it fall from his hand so that he could bring both of them up to cover his face. To cover his sobs. "I will be with you...I am with you...always. Go on without me."

He came to a reckoning at that moment. The truth that he'd spent an entire year pushing away and trying to hide from was now evident. (Y/N) was gone. She wasn't coming back. But her spirit would still be with him, and he could still talk to her when he needed her comfort. He couldn't give up. Giving up would let her memory disappear, and that was the last thing he wanted. He would be her spring; would spend the rest of his life celebrating and honoring hers. So he had to continue. He had to continue for her. Until he could finally be put to rest and be beside her once more, he would go on as her memory's vessel. All of the work he would carry out would be for her. Because, in that embrace he’d just felt, she had given him the will to live.

I will warn you that I don’t think other UB members would have any special reactions worth noting. Some things would get a joke made at the parent and others would just be overwhelming happiness at their friends’ growing family and now a growing UB. I also couldn’t do the bonus because we know so little about UB as kids.

For A I imagine them behaving the way a caretaker would. Arms linked or around the waist (or as around the waist as they can get) or warnings of “Watch your step here” just on the off chance that the detective my slip or trip. A would probably worry about that a lot less if they didn’t sit there and daydream nightmares of something happening to the detective and their child during their free time, but A can’t help but worry. I don’t think A would register any reactions of the other agents or supernaturals, to be honest. I think they would be so wrapped up in clocking every single potential risk to the detective and the baby that they wouldn’t spare a glance at anyone else. As for the agents reactions… I think out of all of UB they would be most charmed by parent-to-be A. It would really just look like a very in love couple with A being a very doting significant other. Also it would be hard for them to maintain the image of a big, authoritarian, tough A when the see an emotional/hormonal detective and A’s hands caressing their cheeks and wiping away tears as they came and comforting them that the day is almost over and then A will take care of the detective’s aching feet and any cravings. Almost jarring, even.

I think N would helicopter more than they already do. Like way more. Like if there’s stairs to get where they need to go, I feel like N would be like “Well, I just don’t understand why they couldn’t just make this a ramp instead” as an example of how extra they would be. I can’t see N isolating the detective (like not letting random people within “x” amount of feet of the detective) but I can see them pulling A LOT of strings when they have something to do or go anywhere especially on days that the detective feels achy or icky. Morning sickness? No worries, N is about the pull the most charming, persuasive smile out of their ass to get the meeting postponed or convince them that detective is not needed and N can happily pass the info along. N would also probably be really hesitant about leaving for missions or anything that took them out of hearing range of the detective. A would swoop in and be the voice of reason, thank god. N could pacified too if they went away and the detective texted them baby updates about kicks and stuff. As for fellow agents and supernaturals reactions… I think there would be some envy of actually seeing two people so happy, content, and in love and I think it would be maybe even inspiring to them to see N, a supernatural who has lived a very long time, have the look and air about them as someone who got literally everything they wanted in this eternal life. It’s hard to have an even higher opinion of someone everyone considers “perfect”

I feel like M’s behavior would have very little change. Any drastic changes would have been early on because, as we know from Sera’s blog, M didn’t necessarily plan on kids or want them. If the detective is far enough along where the weight of the pregnancy is getting to them and they waddle around and ache, I think M would have them stop often and take a seat where chairs are available and massage aches and pains as they come throughout the day. Doesn’t matter what they were going to. I can just imagine M getting a call about why they’re late to a meeting and M just being like “We’ll get there when we get there” and hanging up lol. We don’t know how good M will get at being comforting, all we know as of know if that they’re trying, so if the detective starts getting emotional, I can see M sliding their hand in the detective’s and giving a light squeeze, M pulling the detective in as much as they can (depending on belly size) for a smooch on the top of the head and just holding them, or finding a spot to sit and pulling the detective into their lap and holding them that way. All of this would be accompanied with a “What’s eating at you today?” And a prompt “what can I do to help?” Or “what can I do to make it better?”. At this point I really don’t think other agency members or supernaturals would have much to say. The shock of M no longer just lusting and actually being in very real, once-in-a-lifetime love would have long passed. Maybe the only reaction anyone at this point has is “I’m happy for M”

F’s happiness and excitement cannot be contained for anything. Nobody even can be annoyed (except for maybe the detective sometimes) because it feels impossible to rain on F’s parade. Or even threaten a drizzle. F and a pregnant detective walking around together would have to stop and talk to anybody who so much as looked at them. F would also very much be the “We” person when it comes to expecting parents that aren’t the ones carrying the baby. “WE’RE pregnant”, “WE’RE eating for three now”, etc. F would just be an excitable force to be reckoned with. I also like to imagine F frequently interrupting meetings because the baby kicked. F will be in a near constant state of having their hand on the detective’s belly, either on its own or resting over the detective’s, and the second they feel a kick (regardless of who is speaking in the meeting or what it’s about) F will laugh and lean down to the detective’s belly and saying something along the lines of “hey, don’t kick the one who feeds you”. Similarly to M, I don’t think anyone would have many opinions. This is F as they know them, just a little more amplified.

Prompt 4: Trope: Jealousy Katniss. Modern AU Katniss Everdeen sees his ex boyfriend as the date of one of her coworkers in the company party. She shouldn’t care, because she broke with him, one year ago and still.... when their song plays, against her better judgements, she finds herself dancing with him. Prompt 5: Peeta and Katniss were both rescued in the arena and Peeta shares a bunk in D13 with Finnick - Finnick was sleeping and Peeta and Katniss doesn't see him there in the dark hours while they are tangled in lust and desire - either when everlark is doing it and realizes finnick is there or maybe finnicks POV as he is listening silently or even telling Johanna about it the next day - maybe he even stops them mid fuck with a snide sarcastic remark it's up to you [submitted by anonymous]

Prompt 6: Modern AU. High School or College Everlark. Make the “booth Kiss” but Everlark! Peeta is the big brother of Katniss best friend, and she never imagined rule number #9 would become a problem. “Rule #9: Relatives of your best friend are off-limits.” [submitted by @alwayseverlark]

Prompt 7: Prompt: Butthurt emotionally immature Peeta acts the asshat manwhore around Katniss when, in misinterpreting her, he believes that she thinks he’s not good enough for her. [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 8: Age gap. Peeta and Katniss are cast as the romantic leads in a show (tv, film, stage, or even a commercial). Of course they cast someone half his age. Peeta can’t help falling for her anyway. [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 9: Canon-Divergent/ In Panem D12 “I waited for you” he said but she dint’t reply. He pressed for an answer he knew he deserved, “under the rain, Katniss. I waited for you, under the rain... why would you do that?” / “I can’t do this anymore, Peeta” / “Bullshit, you can but you just don’t want. I thought you were brave!” he yelled at her looking for any reaction that will give some hope. His tears threatening to run down his face. / She didn’t move, and she didn’t correct her, so he ran away and slammed the door behind him. / “I love you” Katniss said to an empty room. Prompt 10: Canon Divergent. When Peeta is rescued from the Capitol and brought to D13, he’s forgotten everything related to Katniss. The Capitol has erased his memories: no Valley Song, no bread, no games, ... nothing. It’s the perfect opportunity for Katniss to let it go, it’s what every tells her... but she still kisses his pearl goodnight. [submitted by @alwayseverlark]

Prompt 11: Prim is marrying before starting her dream job as a pediatric surgeon in another district. 30-something Katniss is proud, thrilled, and yet bereft when her entire life was lived for Prim. She’s never even dated. Has Peeta been waiting for this moment to make his move? Or do they meet at the wedding? Or when her friend drags Katniss out of her slump to a party or on a wild vacation after convincing her to quit her jobs and start a new life? [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 12: Fae Katniss. She’s been with him his entire life, so Peeta simply accepted that no one else could see her, thought other people had their own Katniss. She’d been called his imaginary friend and later a crutch, a figment of his imagination, a delusion. Dr. A asks him to make a “real” friend, ignore Katniss, try going on a date. Prompt 13: Katniss is “just one of the guys” and the only girl in school who’s never been asked for a date by any of these guys. One day she’s “discovered” by a modeling agency and whisked to the Capital. She returns 3-months later with a new look, new found confidence, and cash. Prompt 14: Peeta is 17 when it comes out the only thing his mother ever cooked was the books; he loses his home, his family, his roll in the community. Katniss is 17 when she loses her only reason for living. What brings them together? How do they help each other survive? What forces work against them? Prompt 15: 16-yr-old Peeta’s family moves away. 10 years later he returns and buys a foreclosed upon fixer-upper. When does he learn it belonged to Katniss’s family? She still lives there and hides from him, observes him, haunts him, and ruins all his romantic dates when he’s trying to impress women by making them dinner. Does she learn all she needs to know about him and fall in love before he discovers she’s real and living with him and the one who’s been ruining his love life? [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 16: canon divergent, arranged marriage. Many, many years after the rebellion, old victor and mockingjay Haymitch living alone finally starts accepting help, hires teenagers Katniss to bring him liquor and pick up packages and Peeta to bring food and do some chores. The old man sees how the 2 could be good for each other, and being strategic, manipulative, and an old romantic fool with regrets over “the one that got away,” he writes a will leaving his huge fortune to Peeta and Katniss on the condition they have a big romantic wedding within 30 days and live in his mansion caring for his Effie Rose Garden (“Creamy buds unfurl to reveal a memorable heart of buttery yellow, dusty apricot and zesty orange. From a cupped bloom, Rose Effie gradually opens to a perfect rosette, showcasing her splendor.”) And geese.  [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 17: AU, supernatural. “The Monkey's Paw" retelling - 3 wishes are granted (to the owner of the monkey's paw, either Katniss or Peeta) but the wishes come with an enormous price for interfering with fate. Will the last wish make things right? [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 18: enemies to lovers. Katniss ruins Peeta’s relationship or his shot with a super hot woman. Peeta ruins Katniss’s shot at great job or security with potential fiancé. Other series of embarrassments and cockblocking type events? Will they start sabotaging each other for revenge? Will they have angry sex or will it dawn on them that they’re actually attracted to each other first and make everything awkward before they instead have a sweet vulnerable moment and slow reverent love-making? [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 19: based loosely on retelling of biblical Jacob and wives Rachel and Leah in that polygamist Peeta is husband to both Katniss and Prim. [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 20: Peeta works in ER or long-term care facility. Katniss called in from next-of-kin list and has to decide whether to pull the plug on Prim. They argue over value and meaning of life, over spiritual beliefs and doubts of afterlife, over everything. What will she do? Will this event in this one room be the only thing they ever share, or will the bond they forge through this emotional event be the beginning for them? [submitted by @567inpanem]

Prompt 21: Graduating senior Katniss finally accepts an invitation to one of Madge’s wild, unsupervised parties completely unprepared for what goes on in them. Everyone at the party notices her for different reasons from jealousy over the way she looks to suspicion that she’s going to tell parents about the activities to desire to ruin her good girl reputation. Prompt 22: Their creative writing assignment is to write a short story or poem and to illustrate it as a sketch, painting, animation, with puppets, anything goes. Classmates Katniss and Peeta base their works on the exact same shared experience! (such as the burnt bread, the dandelion, the meadow at sunset, something else entirely). Reaction? People think one of them copied the idea off the other or that they worked together. But Katniss and Peeta realize that the other one remembers, and it meant something to them, too! Prompt 23: social media type craziness enemies to lovers. Katniss and Peeta each host a YouTube channel rapidly growing in popularity, Peeta focuses on baking and Katniss on wild game cooking, a competition for audience share becomes personal after they both bake a meat pie recipe, viewers begin to rabidly support their favorite or to ship them together hard, they start to hate each other without ever meeting, maybe they get forced into interacting for a charity benefit, things get ugly, maybe one or both has significant other who react badly to the shipping hype? Prompt 24: While no one expected Katniss to show up to graduation right after her mother passed away and her sister died, they were surprised that she disappeared completely, and even more stunned when she reappeared years later to claim the town’s only apothecary as the last living family member. What compels her to take it over? Where has she been? What kind of welcome does she get? How does she feel about returning and about town life? What’s been going on with Peeta, is he the baker, is he single, a dad, how’s he been all these years? Will talking with him be awkward? Has he changed? Who has Katniss become? Prompt 25: Katniss is the new girl at this school, transferred to get a better education. Everything about her is alluring, even more so because she doesn’t see the effect she has. Seems everyone is in a clique. She learns that some people are mean and compete like it’s a fight to the death. Prompt 42: Group of friends. Economic disaster, no jobs; eventually in desperation someone in the group suggests making a porno for $, the idea takes off, as they work on a script and put out ideas, alot becomes clear, like who has kinks, who has tried a lot, and that one is an inexperienced virgin. Does the writing experience have consequences to the group dynamic, will they actually film and sell it, will they stay friends? Are any couples or siblings part of the group? Prompt 43: After getting her to agree to be his girlfriend, Gale calls Katniss frigid for not being ready for more than handholding and chaste kisses. In effort thaw her faster, he makes an appointment with a team of sex experts, Mellark, Mason, and Undersee (offering MD diagnostics, individual and couple counseling, sex surrogacy help). The professional team breaks under strain of dealing with jackass Gale. Katniss breaks all ties with him and learns in working with the team that she wants sex and just how she likes it. Prompt 46: They really do toast privately in CF - katniss wearing an orange dress for peeta and peeta making cheese buns for katniss. They wanted something their own. Prompt 47: Katniss and peeta have a secret semi-relationship prior to the 74th games resulting in a child. Katniss’ family hides it was her pregnancy and pretends its mrs everdeens - assuming katniss went to cray or something. What happens when both katniss and peeta are reaped? Prompt 48: Mrs. Mellark survived the bombing of district 12 because she was squatting at Peeta’s house. How does this event change her and how does this effect Everlark? (Does this count as an eligible prompt? I just think it would be a great dynamic!) [submitted by anonymous]

Prompt 50: Fae Peeta or some other supernatural. Mellarks are secretly fae and Peeta meets his mate *Katniss* on the first day of school. katniss is human and it’s dangerous for them to interact when they are so young still. Prompt 51: Katniss and Peeta unknowingly have super powers. Anything beyond regular human is rare or unheard of in Panem. For some reason it manifests in both of them and comes out as they both fight to protect each other’s lives in the games. [submitted by anonymous]

Prompt 52: An AU based on Casper The movie from 1995 (just rewatched this movie, it gaves me so much EverLark vibes^^). Katniss comes to live in an old house alone or with family. Peeta is a ghost staying in this house for who knows how long. He doesn't remember much of his living life. The house is full of secrets. Prompt 53: Peeta has a harder time after the 74th games then anyone realizes. PTSD, the virtual abandonment of his family, and Katniss’ lack of interest in him, he’s in a bad place. He puts up a front when around Katniss and Haymitch, but things come to head when he gets an anxiety/panic attack while on the victory tour. Katniss is there for him. [submitted by anonymous]

Prompt 54: Madge has hosted “Beach Week!” ever since her family acquired the multi-dwelling retreat years ago. Katniss never had the $ to go, but with Madge relocating to Paris, Katniss lets Madge cover her share of the expenses with the promise to make it the best! week! ever! Katniss assumes Madge means taking a turn at karaoke or *gulp* going skinny dipping by moonlight. Prompt 55: Arriving in D13, it’s quickly discovered that Peeta will never be the same. Mixed with a failed high jacking, and a brutal beating, Peeta’s brain will never be the same. He’s childlike and mostly nonverbal, but Katniss still sees her Boy with Bread and will protect him at all costs.[submitted by anonymous]

(Maybe Katniss and Mrs Mellark manipulate situation to get what they think is best for Peeta, sacrificing relationship and destroying trust? Does he leave for years? Prompt 61: The Hunger Games is real - you can go home with your winnings to live HEA. Katniss and Peeta celebrate with sex. Unfortunately, the beauty treatment chemicals stimulate the gonads, and Katniss finds she’s carrying not just one Mellark baby but eight. They’ll need more $. Haymitch suggests a reality tv show. Everyone must play a roll to earn a salary - Mrs Mellark plays the loving grandma (off camera, she’s still a mean bitch), who else will take on a tv persona? They jam in many ridiculous product placements. They slap their logo onto anything they can sell to capitolites. How far will they go to keep those baby butts in clean diapers? Prompt 62: Katniss is the football team’s new kicker and the league’s first and only female player. It’s their first road trip. She’d heard stories about what goes on from head cheerleader Madge and piccolo player Delly. Katniss deals with locker room issues, getting respect she earned for her skill, handling the culture of drinking and casual sex, dealing with possessive girls jealous of her time with the guys or others influencing her to change her look or her attitude, finding what makes her happy and what is real. Prompt 63: Enemies to lovers; Katniss and Peeta are rival business owners (located right next door to each other). A blackout during a snowstorm pushes them together and they are forced to face their true feelings. Do that really "hate" each other, or is their intense desire for one another manifesting itself in other ways? Before the night is over, they find themselves locked in the other's arms. Prompt 65: 74th games - Katniss is being cornered by a male tribute (whoever you want) early on in the games. She doesn’t have her bow and he’s larger and stronger. He quickly over powers her but he’s not looking to kill her - he has more nefarious ideas. Peeta finds them and doesn’t hesitate to tackle the tribute off of Katniss and kills him in rage. Prompt 66: A story told in pictures. Like, Instagram of their stuff only, as Katniss and Peeta get in to college, change roommates, suffer loss, move on, eventually see their stuff together when they cohabitate, or maybe start there and go through drama of breakup until find way back together. Prompt 67: 🌈❤️🦋Katniss and Peeta are the cutest couple!🌸❤️🦄Everbody hates them. Everyone tries to break them up, for their own reason, using their own methods. Prompt 68: Katniss always wanted to be a mother, she just never wanted to admit it with the Games hanging over everyone’s heads. Prompt 69: It’s the start of the holiday shopping season. The Hunger Games Victors’ big public event is attending the grand opening of a huge new toy store where they are presented with hottest must-have new toys: action figures of themselves. Afterwards, they start playing with their dolls. Johanna’s is quickly naked. Is Finnick’s anatomically correct? Anyone jealous of Katniss’s doll coming with the Cinna Collection accessories? Prompt 70: Everlark AU Where the Heart Is (movie) - heavily pregnant Katniss is abandoned at a Walmart in the middle of nowhere by her baby daddy. Homeless and with nowhere to go, Katniss secretly bunks at Walmart each day. One early morning she goes into labor and is discovered by the blue eyed and kind employee Peeta who immediately jumps in to help. Admitting to having no one or place to go to Nurse Effie, Katniss finds herself and her baby the reluctant charge of Haymitch Abernathy. [submitted by @kiinghanalister]

*I DO NOT HATE WANG SO, NOR IS THIS A POST CRITICISING HIM. IT IS BASED ON MY OPINION , AND IT AIMS TO POINT OUT AND EXPLORE  HIS “VILLAINOUS SIDE” THAT SHAPES HIM THROUGHOUT THE DRAMA.

I just wanted to point this out because I’ve noticed people have two reactions to it. Either there’s people denying it or people heavily emphasising on it.I would like to clarify,that Wang So is very much a character that is caught in crossroads, stuck between both his selfless heroic nature and his ,beastly savage side.

The show never denied his villainy, not even for a moment.He was always dangerous,scary and he himself, usually acknowledges his crimes and extreme personality.

The only difference is , he had the scope to be a better person. He realises he is in the wrong and understands the consequences of his actions. But even then , he never changes. Murder is always a full forged solution in his book.

But what made his personality more flawed was his anger, pride and this ability to listen to only himself. It’s what made him into a powerful king too, but it’s also what affected his relationship with Soo towards the end.

It’s hard to discern whether his impulsive , suspicious nature is the result of his environment and circumstances that he grew up in or just his personality. His Nature. But Wang So has always been pragmatic, opportunist and suspicious of those around him.

When we see him enter the palace, he kills of a horse. When Jimong offers him the opportunity to protect the crown prince , he questions his intentions. And he never opens up to anyone and is always on guard, full of excuses and masks. Which is why when Yeonhwa suggests he learns with the princes, he says he prefers being alone with his hunts. We all know he wants to live in Songak,but he says this because he doesn’t want her to know his intentions. And even Yeonhwa,can see through it.

He isolates himself from people.And it’s this exact combination of stubbornness, impulsivity and constant suspicion that makes it so easy for him kill anyone quickly and justify it. And since he isolated himself, there’s no one to stop him or make him think on it.And hence, he grows up, used to his extreme actions and not reflecting on it. Though he has his moments of regret, it’s not something he dwells on a lot.And he will never admit to it too,because he has pride.

All this makes it all the more easy for him to justify his actions.

It makes him either invincible or impossible and stubborn. Quite possibly both, but that doesn’t mean he is not bound to face the consequences of his actions. He is human after all, and if he chooses reckless actions one after the other and defend it, he’s bound to face the consequences. It doesn’t matter if he has a good reason or not. General Park points that out to him , clearly.

But he doesn’t think it through , and just ponders it for a while. But this moment, pretty much sets the stage for his inevitable end. All throughout his life he has to kill to survive, but the more he kills, the more enemies he creates and the more he has to cover up his path. And hence , the lonelier he becomes.

Meanwhile his relationship with Soo blossoms,and he finds it hard to explain his feelings for her.She shows him empathy and never judges him in his worst state,and tries to understand him. She treats him with kindness and like any other human being. He finds it easy and comfortable to talk to her and be around her.He opens up to her easily and listens to her easily. He also thinks about her and willingly incorporates what she says into his thoughts and actions. In other words , he has a crush on he doesn’t realise it. It’s quite hard for him to understand his own feelings, given how lonely he grew up.

And when he does,he is confused yet thrilled. But he still doesn’t possess complete understanding of his emotions, and he is not completely comfortable with having a person who sees right through him. Like when she sees right through his insecurity of his scar.And he punishes her for that by silence , and reprimanding her when she makes his favourite tea.

He ignores her, and it’s not until she reaches out to him after the rain festival does he put his defences down. But then, this was only achieved through her own efforts.In order to help him,she creates a foundation that conceals his scar,and she helps him succeed in the rain ritual.

He pretty much sets his heart to her after that and chases her and focuses on getting her for himself.He never listens to her rejection or her refusal and is quite insistent with his ways.He seeks her out and is quite determined to have her and he uses all means possible to have her by his side. Like he asks the King for her, then he takes her out of the palace ,drinks poison to protect her and stands by her side.

But little does he realise that this puts her in danger more than anything else. Because the more he chases her the more jealous Wook gets, the more worried his father becomes and the worse her reputation becomes ,because everyone calls her “bad luck” and blames her for how he turned out. But thing is , he does not realise it. He never sees the damage he’s unintentionally caused to her because in his mind he’s doing the right thing, choosing the right thing. He won’t listen to anyone who disagrees and he defies anyone who tries to stop him and that includes the king. In his mind, he already sees himself as the Knight in shining armour, who fights for the woman he loves.

And as his feelings grow, he also finds himself getting easily jealous. He has this habit of just assuming things and sticking by it, and it makes it hard for him to communicate.When he has to marry someone and is aware that is a deal breaker to her, he never reveals to her the reason behind it. Fans say this better than making up a excuse but I don’t see how this is better as it just leaves her alone without an explanation.All because he assumes she would hate him anyway.At the end of the day an explanation is better than an assumption or an excuse. He gets jealous when Baek Ah gets her the best present. His emotions have now become completely besotted with her,and is eager for real romance .So it’s not much of surprise to see his reaction after he discovers Jung hid in her room,it’s clear that he’s suspicious and doesn’t trust her easily.But this time , he goes to her asks her. He communicates and clears his doubts and reaches a deal. And it’s all sweetness for once.

Soon, their loyalties are tested, and they both hesitate to sort it out on their own. Wang So tries to sort it out all by himself and Hae Soo is hiding the people he’s searching for, eventually confesses to her , she holds back since she has too many warnings and supernatural visions that hold her back, but she does trust him . But it’s too late,and he ends up killing a brother and that haunts him. But that’s what pushes him to realise his place and finally steer him towards his path of being king.But for that when he’s asked to sacrifice Soo, he understands and breaks up with her in the cruelest way possible,by blaming her for his brother’s death.

The thing is, while saying those cruel words, he is also venting his anger out to her. When he returns he is still cold to her , but she still chases after him.She is burdened with guilt,and he cannot deny his feelings. Soon this leads to reincoincillation But thing is, Soo know he left her for the throne, but listens to his other reason anyway.She is beyond the point of no return, desperate to be with him. Hence gets what he wants, the throne and the girl.And they’re happy , for a while.

Until the issue of their marriage comes up,and everyone around Soo reminds her that she cannot marry him and be queen.The whole court urges So to marry Yeonhwa and he holds back, stubborn and he refuses to listen to them.Again Hae Soo ,has to give her approval and seem weak or the bad person.She is willingly talking the burn out for their relationship, both publicly and personally. Meanwhile , So grows more powerful.And he doesn’t back down this time.

He gets more stubborn and set in his ways,and refuses to listen to anyone else, especially now that his word is practically the law.He distances himself from Soo because he’s failed to live up to his promises of marrying her and starts channeling his anger to the Court and Jung .So he doesn’t hold back and starts unleashing his power and vengeance , beginning with Jung when he opposes him, and forbidding him to see his mother.When his mother protests , he forbades him to see her , which causes the queen to go on a hunger protest, asking to see her Jung.

We see Soo try to stop it , yes out of concern for Jung. But only because it’s in her character and she foresees the disastrous consequences, that it could possibly haunt him in the end and it did, in a way he never saw coming. When she sends for him ,he doesn’t reprimand or argue with her,he directly threatens her with punishment , proving he’s finally become the King he’s destined to be. Everything that was Wang So has already submerged into his conscience and only Gwangjong remains.

How could anyone expect her to understand him, when the man who loves her and risked his life for her is now threatening her with punishment, while instilling fear in her ?He’s being a King more than anything else. Jung arrives late and the queen dies.He later berates her for not taking his side, and walks away before she has the chance to apologise or provide comfort. He’s broken yes, but he is also unwilling to listen.Then, he proceeds to kill Chaeryung without an explanation, probably expecting her understanding in that matter too. People still blame Hae Soo , like they do for everything. But it was too much of a shock for her, just watching as she is beaten to death,without any anticipation or explanation.So explains his reason, but it’s too late, the graphic images of what she saw still reel in her head and no excuses can properly apply, because he really did kill her without warning. The reality of the palace becomes clear to Soo, and she makes up her mind.

Meanwhile, Wang So is furious and he blames Wook for all this,and when he goes to his room.He finds Yeonhwa , sitting there trying to trick him into consummating the marriage,but he sees through it.He makes a deal with her to get his revenge against Wook and it involves making the same promise he made to Soo.

So executes his plan to stand up to Wook, but he’s shocked to see Soo stand up to him. He states that he doesn’t like it but he listens to her this time, only because she doesn’t give him the opportunity to walk away by kneeling and she comes up with a good reason.

People point out and sometimes even write lengthy metas defending his actions, romanticising it and citing it as the greatest example of love to ever exist. But they fail to understand why this is considered problematic.It’s problematic because it’s so twisted and it’s bound to have consequences. He’s out here framing his brother, using consummation with his sister as colleteral, and is deriving pleasure out of momentary revange using his position of authority.As if that’s not that’s not bound to have consequences.

As viewers, we have an idea of how conniving Wook is. But the  idea Goryeo’s society has of Wook is he is a wise scholar an benevolent individual, a brother in law of the king who would be gracious enough to marry off his sister to him. He has the ministers in his fingertips, and if the King were to kill him over a bird, it would just prove what they and history have been thinking : That he’s a tyrant and a wolf dog who’s only good at killing people. He’s early into his reign and it would certainly build up a reputation that would not get him respect from the ministers.On top of that this was a guy that blamed himself for killing his brother for years.

And that’s exactly why Soo stops him. Sure she doesn’t want Wook to die, but also doesn’t want So to be remembered only as a bloody king. But this riles up his suspicion and Jealousy and increases his paranoia more than anything else.Next we have Jung , who finally has a chance to use his decree. He goes to Soo, who basically says what she’s been saying all along.  That she wants to leave and there’s no hope for their relationship.She’s honest with him and even confesses her hate.He again doesn’t listen to her and walks away, vowing he’ll never let her go.

And it finally allows Yeonhwa to execute her plans meticulously and for Wook to have his revenge. Wook confesses his past relationship with Soo, and it literally turns his brain upside down.He cannot believe the woman he loves used to love his enemy and she still sticks up for him. And it’s all it takes for his paranoia to sweep in and convince himself that she has never loved him and it was all Wook. He says he’ll never see her again and agrees to let her out of the palace.

I guess his actions after this split truly exhibit the many layers of his characters: his insecurity, his hypocrisy, pride ,vulnerability and jealousy. Insecurity in his feelings for Soo, that she loves someone more than him. That she never loved him and has abandoned him.Jealousy in the fact that she loved and married someone else.I guess these overwhelming emotions make him really vulnerable, and that’s what makes him cry, and still keeps tabs on her, because despite all the anger and hatred , he cannot forget her.

Besides, we cannot discuss his aspects of villainy without discussing his childhood, which is really the cusp of where it all begin. Personally, I think he only survived because he’s Wang So. He Fought back.He never let anyone disrespect him,and he found his own way to derive respect.  I think he deliberately improved on his skills, from combat to education, he improved because he wanted to prove to everyone that’s he much more than what they think. He doesn’t care for people. He only cares for his people. He’s only selfless towards those he cares about.

And that’s where his final and most darkest qualities surface: his pride and hypocrisy.All of his actions, from the beginning to the end, have been influenced by his “pride”. There’s no denying that it’s a big part of his character and the writer made it clear from the get go. We cannot say if it’s because of his traumatic childhood, and how he was treated as a hostage or it really is a underlining element of his personality, but Wang So is all about proving thing this to people. Proving that he is someone who’s much better what they think and getting back at them for putting him through what they did. It’s Soo that makes him see that power can be something more . That it can be used to do something more and help people. It’s she who makes him selfless.

But with that pride and pent up anger, he has this side of him that’s bit of an hypocrite. Why else do you think he’s able to continuously make excuses for all his actions, from the beginning? I’m not sure if it’s because he’s him or hypocrisy is a dominant gene that gets passed on to every member of the Goryeo Royal family and runs fresh in their veins , but just like all of them, he’s an hypocrite. He only sees his side of things.

He blames Soo for leaving him , but he left her as well. Two years prior, and even now. He accuses her of not trusting him and not understanding him , but as we can see , he’s the one with trust issues and he’s the one who misunderstood her feelings. He spies on her and assumes she never loved him , and really, this time he cannot blame anyone else but himself for his actions. It’s because of these actions that they have such a painful separation. He’s so involved with himself at this point , that besides seeing only his side of things, he views himself someone who’s wronged, but he never sees how much he’s actions hurt and affect the ones he’s loved .

There’s no denying that that throne makes him very vulnerable that his insecurities and guard go up times higher , making him isolate people even more. But it’s what makes him such a hypocrite , because he can only see his side of things and excuse anything he does. Especially now that he’s a king , he believes his judgement is better than everyone. Besides, anyone in a position of power, have to be a bit of an hypocrite to begin with. The trick is to not let it completely consume you. But it does and it isolates him, and its what causes him to shut himself from everyone.

In retrospect, I still vehemently hold on to my view that it was best for Hae Soo to leave the palace.With his tunnel vision, once again he never sees the danger he puts Soo in. He tells Soo that she would be his only Queen, but he says the same thing to Yeonhwa to make her give up on her brother. But he doesn’t see that she expects to have him all to herself and be  his “only queen”. So when he plans on making Soo his “second queen” and she has a child on the way, how did he think Yeonhwa will react? With open acceptance and genuine Joy? He’s so blind to her problems and caught up in his struggle, it does not even occur to him how there’s no hope for her in the palace.

All of this problems arise because of all the reasons that I’ve discused in detail. I’m not denying Hae Soo has a part in it, but this is a post focusing on Wang So’s flaws. It’s because he’s possessive, stubborn, arrogant and ignorant that he reaches the conclusion that she never loved him, believes the words of a random spy and spies on her and sees what he wants to see.

There is this thing where people always compare his love to Jung’s and argue that Jung loved better, because he didn't expect anything in return.I would like to remind them that there was a time and Soo didn’t reciprocate Wang so’s feelings and he was ready to sacrifice everything for her. He would drink poison for her. But it all changed when she started loving him back. It’s hard predict how Jung would’ve been if she reciprocated his feelings, but I’m sure he wouldn't’ t have been the same. But where his love triumphs  over So is in the respect he had for her as a person. Jung respected Soo. He respected her choices, her likes and her personality. Whereas,So only agreed with aspects of her personality and disagreed with the rest. He never respected or understood her as a whole. There was no acceptance of her as whole. His love is great but it’s also very suffocating, because there’s no space for her as a whole , flawed person. In his love there’s only space for the Soo he wants her to be: kind, understanding, fun, naive,loyal, and smart. But the stubborn, arrogant, independent, impulsive Soo that can argue back and make her own decisions ? Let’s just say there’s a reason her never listens to her in the first place.

Which is why when the news of her death reaches him and he reads the letters,  The consequences of his actions finally hit and the reality is so cruel he cannot handle it. Which is why he is in so much denial,that he is rushing in the hopes of seeing her one last time. But this time, he’s simply too late.

And this was partly a consequence of his own actions, but it finally hits him: He’s all alone now.He finally understands Hae Soo and longs for her.

The thing is, it wouldn’t have ended up all like this if he had listened to her or apologised. But like mentioned above, all his insecure,dark qualities come together, and bring out his worst self.

But ironically, that’s exactly what Goryeo needed at the time.They needed a king who’s stubborn, not easily influenced and full of pride that will withstand till the end.A king who is powerful enough to push his law through, despite opposition from noble families. And now, he has more than enough reasons to influence him and push him through those decisions. From his horrible childhood to Soo, everything stood as a reason for shaping him into who he is set to become: The powerful 4th King of Goryeo.

But its sadly it’s exactly those qualities destroys his relationship with Soo. As long as he is king, she will be used as his weakness.

My main point in writing this lengthy, tedious post is because to be honest, I’ve seen way to many Wang So stans in this app, who in order to support him, bash and blame other characters for his actions, and look at him through dreamy, swoon worthy glasses. They overlook his flaws and make defences for it, but the things flaws are very much a central point of his character.

He is a passionate lover and an astute King. But he is also is an experienced and skilled warrior, a possessive and jealous man who has no problem with scheming or giving out harsh punishments.He is childish, with trust and mommy issues and he has never recovered from the scars of his childhood. All of which eventually shapes the man he becomes.

Though it’s romantic that he states he will find her wherever she is, even if he does, it won’t bring him the romance or closure he desires. Why? Because, he still has to face the consequences of his own actions. He has to answer why he never came to get her, why he thought she never loved him etc..

He has to learn from his mistakes and understand Soo better.He needs to learn to differentiate love, and to trust her more.He needs to handle his anger properly and not confuse and channel it towards Soo. He needs to respect and understand Soo better, and all of that takes time.And space. And lots of conversations and privacy.

It’s ironic but once again through on his own words, he’s set to prove himself all over again. For all the discussions on “fate”, it seems like he’s deciding his own “fate” now. Again, very heroic but the road to it is very difficult, and there’s no Hae Soo to bear the brunt of making difficult decisions anymore.

But the real question is, whether is the same qualities that drew them apart, will it lead him to her now?

I suppose that’s the roundabout irony we’re all rooting for in the end.

Seriously, though, ever since I made the end of my little “Not All Heroes Wear Capes” fanfic post (In @gilby-the-geek-girl ‘s words, “a fanfic of a fanfic”.), I’ve been wanting to make the rest of that little storyline! I was wondering what would’ve happened after Virgil went into hiding, along with how everything gets resolved.

“It’s cold as hell in here…”

Virgil muttered to himself as he made his way throughout the house, hearing the echoing voices of his housemates wandering around. Even though it’d been a few hours since he’d initially shrank, they were still looking for him relentlessly. Well, he couldn’t say that they weren’t dedicated, but the reason that they’d spend so much time trying to find the person that nearly brought the house down eluded him.

As for Virgil himself? Well, aside from being cold, he kept thinking about how it must have felt for the others to live with him, especially when his voice started to act up. The voice that caused that whole mess…

What was going on with his voice anyway? It didn’t sound like the large, booming voice that came with his flare-ups normally. It sounded exactly the opposite. Small. Quiet.

Weak.

No, there wasn’t any time to think about that. All he had to worry about at that point was keeping himself in the walls and making sure that nobody heard him. Well, that and make sure that he wouldn’t freeze to death. Damn, it was cold being that small.

“HAVE EITHER OF YOU SEEN VIRGIL?” he could hear Logan asking the other two.

“NOT EVEN A HAIR ON HIS PURPLE HEAD,” Patton replied.

“ACTUALLY, IT’S FUCHSIA,” Roman corrected him. “STILL, WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED? ONE SECOND, HE WAS ONLY A LITTLE TALLER THAN PATTON, AND THE NEXT, HE DISAPPEARED!”

Virgil covered his ears when Roman got louder. If he was the one that changed sizes instead of him, he was pretty sure that they’d all be deaf by that point. Then again, he had the (not exactly supernatural) superpower that was being able to tame the beast that was Virgil’s anxiety, so that had to count somewhat.

“IT’S CERTAINLY STRANGE,” Logan remarked. “WE’VE NEVER SEEN THIS SIDE OF HIS POWERS BEFORE. AND FROM HIS REACTION, NEITHER HAS HE.”

“AGH!” Roman groaned out of frustration. “IT’S BEEN THREE HOURS, AND WE STILL HAVEN’T FOUND HIM! HE COULD’VE SLIPPED OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR ALL THAT WE KNOW!”

“FALSEHOOD. WHILE THAT’S ENTIRELY POSSIBLE, YOU’RE NOT FACTORING IN WHAT’S OUTSIDE THE HOUSE.” — Virgil imagined that Logan was listing off the next items off using his fingers to count — “IT’S RAINING OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, SO HE COULD BE WASHED AWAY. OTHER ANIMALS COULD CONSIDER HIM AS THEIR NEXT MEAL AS WELL. AND IT’D BE FREEZING FOR SOMEONE AT THE SIZE THAT HE’S AT, WHATEVER THAT HAPPENS TO BE RIGHT NOW. ESSENTIALLY, THAT’S THE ABSOLUTE LAST PLACE THAT HE’D WANT TO BE.”

“SO HE CAN’T BE ANYWHERE EXCEPT IN THE HOUSE?”

“UNLESS YOU WANT TO INCLUDE THE EQUALLY BAD IDEA OF GOING INTO THE PIPES.”

“WELL, I’M SURE THAT HE’S AROUND HERE SOMEWHERE,” Patton reassured them. “I CAN FEEL IT.”

“SPEAKING OF FEELING,” Roman noted, “IS IT JUST ME, OR WAS THERE SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING EMO? ASIDE FROM THE SHRINKING PART.”

‘Thinking that the person that almost brought the house down is incredible?’ Virgil thought. ‘He must’ve hit his head harder than I thought.’

“HE DEFINITELY SEEMED SLIGHTLY MORE VOLATILE THIS TIME AROUND, THOUGH I’D IMAGINE THAT IT WAS MAINLY DUE TO HIS HIGH STRESS LEVELS,” Logan stated.

“I GET THAT MUCH,” Roman remarked. “I MEAN WHY HE STOPPED WHEN HE SAW ME BLEEDING.”

“I THINK…WELL…” Patton said with a tinge of uncertainty, “I MIGHT BE WRONG, SINCE EVERYTHING WAS ALL JUMBLED, BUT–”

“JUST TELL US WHAT IT IS!” Virgil could tell by Roman’s tone that he was getting desperate.

“I THINK VIRGIL FELT GUILTY. FOR ALL OF IT.”

Right as he heard those words, Virgil almost instantly remembered what happened to cause the incident.

Virgil tried to calm down as best as he could, staring straight at his hands as he rested on the couch. He would’ve gone back to his room at that point normally, but recently, he’d felt more anxious than normal being there. As for why, he couldn’t put a definite finger on it. Was it about school? His dwindling antidepressants? Something else he couldn’t think of? He had no idea.

“You alright there, Not Sleeping Beauty?” he heard Roman ask him. Apparently, even without looking directly at him and even with all of the eyeshadow he had on, Roman could still see the dark circles under Virgil’s eyes. “You look like you haven’t slept in days.”

“I’m fine, Princey,” Virgil muttered a reply.

“Fine?” Roman knew about his dislike of that word, so hearing Virgil use it definitely threw up some red flags.

“Yes, fine.” — his tone sounded almost like a growl — “Now, can you leave me alone? I’m trying to think.”

“You know that going without your beauty sleep isn’t good.”

“I said that I’m fine, Roman.”

“Hey, I’m just worried about you, Snow Fright. That’s all. Your grades are going to dip if you don’t get your sleep.”

Something in Virgil snapped when he heard that. He stood up, not noticing the change in his height or voice as he glared at Roman. “I said that I’m FINE!”

The massive reverb shockwave shook the house, knocking everyone off their feet and shaking things loose, even cracking the ceiling.

Oh boy…

Virgil fled towards a different part of the house once he remembered that, not wanting to be reminded of the giant mistake that he’d made a few hours prior.

When he was satisfied with how far he went, Virgil sat down to rest, being rather winded. Who knew walking across the house at that size could be so exhausting? Either way, he wondered how the other three would act the next morning. Would they still be looking for him? What about cleaning up the damage that he’d caused? He remembered back to when Roman lifted him up that one time and he tried to get back at him, only for Logan to yell at both of them to go outside. Guess it was because he didn’t want Virgil accidentally wrecking the room that they were in. What would he think of him now that he actually wrecked one of the rooms? Virgil’s thoughts were cut short as he heard a door open and shut through the wall behind him.

“HOW IN THE WORLD ARE WE GOING TO CLEAN THIS UP?” he heard Logan mutter to himself. He guessed that he’d wandered to where Logan’s room was. “THE CEILING IS DEFINITELY GOING TO NEED TO BE REPAIRED. WHAT WAS VIRGIL THINKING?”

“Glad to see the human calculator likes me,” Virgil said to himself, his words oozing sarcasm.

He thought that Logan would continue going on about the damage, but was surprised to hear the next words coming out of his mouth. ���IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT. HE KNOWS IT JUST AS WELL AS WE DO. SO WHY WOULD HE HIDE FROM US LIKE THIS? IT’S JUST SO…ILLOGICAL…” He heard the chair to Logan’s desk being pulled out. “WHY ARE YOU HIDING, VIRGIL?”

Did he know? No, he couldn’t know. His senses were keen, but not enough to hear Virgil’s extremely quiet voice. Or were they? Virgil didn’t want to risk it, dashing off to another part of the house just in case Logan could hear his voice.

As he continued wandering through the walls, he heard what seemed to be Patton talking to himself. Virgil really didn’t want to risk almost getting noticed again, but then again, Patton’s hearing wasn’t as sensitive as Logan’s. Either way, Virgil’s curiosity got the better of him, and he quietly approached the side of the wall and listened in on Patton’s one-man conversation.

“EVERYTHING’S GOING TO BE ALRIGHT,” Patton muttered to himself. “WE’LL FIND HIM EVENTUALLY. WE HAVE TO.” — he sniffled a bit, and Virgil could only imagine that he was fighting back a few tears — “HEY, I SAID THAT EVERYTHING’S GOING TO BE ALRIGHT. CRYING’S NOT GOING TO DO ANYBODY ANY GOOD RIGHT NOW.”

Virgil’s heart broke a bit inside when he heard that. For all the time that he knew Patton, he knew that he didn’t like showing that he was crying at anything other than a scene in a movie. Holding back his less-than-awesome feelings when it came to other people. To hear him fighting back tears was…

Well, he really didn’t have any words to describe it.

If Patton was that worried about him, then he could only imagine how Roman felt about Virgil’s disappearance. He was always a drama queen regardless, even though he technically identified as male.

“Can’t these guys go one night worrying about themselves for a change?” Virgil said to himself, making his way through the house’s walls. “They got hurt because of me…”

He heard his stomach growl, with the sound echoing a bit in the hollow walls. Swearing to himself a bit, he decided to change course and head towards the kitchen, going to get himself something to snack on.

Slipping out of the wall for a bit, Virgil looked around, trying to find something out in the open that he could take. After all, he couldn’t open the fridge, and the cabinets were too high for him to reach. Being that small had a lot of disadvantages, didn’t it?

“LET’S GO IN THE GARDEN…”

Virgil quickly hid, hearing Roman’s voice coming in his direction.

“YOU’LL FIND SOMETHING WAITING…”

His voice. Something seemed off with it.

“RIGHT THERE WHERE YOU LEFT IT, LYING UPSIDE DOWN…”

It wasn’t his usual soft voice. Not the reassuring one that Virgil knew.

“WHEN YOU FINALLY FIND IT, YOU’LL SEE HOW IT’S FADED…”

What was it? What was different about his voice this time around?

“THE UNDERSIDE IS LIGHTER WHEN YOU TURN IT AROUND…”

Virgil peeked out from his hiding spot, seeing Roman sitting on the couch. He couldn’t make out his face from that distance, but even just by his slouched posture, he could tell that Roman was not his usual happy self.

“EVERYTHING STAYS RIGHT WHERE YOU LEFT IT…”

What was he hearing in Roman’s voice?

“EVERYTHING STAY, BUT IT STILL CHANGES…”

Exhaustion?

“EVER SO SLIGHTLY…”

Frustration?

“DAILY AND NIGHTLY…”

A hint of a solemn tone?

“IN LITTLE WAYS…”

Roman completely stopped, letting out a sigh. Virgil quietly got closer to him, making sure to stay hidden by using cover. He saw Roman resting his head in his hands, though he couldn’t tell what face he was making.

“BUT NOTHING REMAINS…”

Woah. Okay, Roman changing the lyrics? Virgil knew that something was wrong at that point. Maybe he was feeling all the things that he thought he was feeling. Then again, he couldn’t know for certain. He wasn’t an empath like Patton, nor was he a telepath like Remus. Whatever “-path” he was, it wasn’t either of those two. Either way, he hid underneath one of the chairs, recognizing that it was the exact same one that he’d been hiding under when he initially shrank, and looked up at Roman.

“THAT IDIOT BETTER KNOW WHAT HE’S DOING, HIDING FROM US LIKE THIS,” Roman said to himself. “MAKING US WORRY ABOUT HIM. HE’S PRACTICALLY GIVING US HIS LEVELS OF ANXIETY!”

“Liar...” Virgil muttered. “You’d all be better off if I wasn’t around.”

“I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT,” he heard Logan’s voice remark.

Virgil froze up, wanting to turn around before he felt himself being lifted up. He quickly shut his eyes as tightly as he could as he braced himself. It felt like Virgil’s heart was beating a mile a minute.

“PUT HIM DOWN!” Patton exclaimed. “YOU’RE SCARING HIM!”

Virgil felt himself being gently set down on some surface, though he couldn’t tell what it was with his eyes closed. As he slowly peeked to see where he was, he saw Roman, Patton, and Logan all staring back at him, all having various degrees of concern on their faces.

And just when he thought that things couldn’t get worse...

“ARE YOU OKAY?!” Patton quickly asked, looking at Virgil’s tiny form. “YOU’RE NOT HURT, ARE YOU?”

He quickly covered his ears upon hearing Patton’s loud voice. “You’re about to burst my eardrums if you’re not careful,” Virgil replied.

Patton let out a sigh of relief alongside Roman, though Logan seemed rather unphased. At least, on the outside.

“REGARDLESS,” Logan said, keeping his voice down, “I’D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT BY ‘YOU’D ALL BE BETTER OFF IF I WASN’T AROUND.’.”

“You heard that, huh?” Virgil remarked, already knowing the answer.

“YOUR VOICE ISN’T THAT QUIET.”

Virgil let out a sigh, knowing that he couldn’t keep quiet about it, otherwise the other three would get at him nonstop. “Well, you saw what happened earlier. I’m practically a ticking time bomb. I was just thinking…” — he took a deep breath to calm his nerves — “I was thinking that…maybe you’d all be better off without me. I just wanted to see what it was like for a day.”

“AND I ASSUME THAT YOUR INITIAL HYPOTHESIS WAS WRONG?”

“Not all of it. I finally know how you feel when my voice acts up.”

“ANYWAY, CAN YOU TURN BACK TO NORMAL?” Roman quickly asked. “WE CAN’T HAVE YOU STUCK AT YOUR ‘PINT-SIZED’ SETTING, C-3MO.”

He crossed his arms a bit. “You know he can’t change his size like I can, right?”

“I KNOW! I’M JUST RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS! MY BRAIN’S FRIED BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH WE’VE BEEN WORRYING ABOUT YOU!”

Virgil reflexively covered his ears again as he heard Roman yell. To be honest, he wasn’t at all used to having to cover his ears every time one of the other three tried to speak. Either way, he was a bit curious himself, and he tried to get back to his normal size. Unfortunately, he wasn’t really able to get much of his height back, so Virgil was pretty much stuck as the shortest person in the house for the rest of the night.

“I’M SURE THAT YOU’LL BE BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL SELF IN THE MORNING, VIRGIL,” Logan stated. “NOW, IF YOU DON’T MIND, IT’S LATE, AND WE ALL SHOULD BE GETTING TO SLEEP.”

“SEE YOU IN THE MORNING, KIDDO,” Patton said as he carefully patted Virgil’s back.

The other two left, leaving Roman and Virgil alone in the room. It was a bit awkward to have such a height difference between them at first, but then again, it was essentially the reverse of what usually happened.

“SO, I GUESS I’M TAKING YOU BACK TO YOUR ROOM, UM…VIRGIL,” Roman said as he held out his hand, having run out of new nicknames for Virgil.

“Hold on,” He told Roman. “I…” — Roman motioned for him to go on, hearing him out — “You mind if I sleep with you tonight? My room’s not the best for helping my anxiety go down.”

He smirked a bit. “IS THAT JUST AN EXCUSE TO GET IN BED WITH ME?” — Virgil got a bit flustered, and Roman chuckled — “I’M JUST KIDDING. C’MON.”

He carefully picked Virgil up in his arms and carried him over to his room. It wasn’t exactly his usual fireman carry, but still, Virgil wasn’t exactly his usual self at the time, so a bride carry had to do. After setting him down, Roman went to “quickly” change into his pajamas, leaving Virgil sitting on his bed. He glanced off to the side, seeing a familiar green gingham dress and off-white apron on the plush next to him.

“And here, I never thought that we’d see eye-to-eye,” Virgil muttered, a slight laugh escaping from his lips, probably from the absurdity of the situation. They were practically the same size at that point.

Eventually, Roman returned, having changed into some sweatpants and an old t-shirt, and carefully clambered into bed. Taking both Virgil and Mrs. Fluffy Bottom in his arms, he laid down on his back. With the utmost amount of care, he flipped the hood on Virgil’s jacket up, covering his head.

“GOOD NIGHT, YOU TINY THUNDERSTORM,” Roman said before drifting off to sleep.

Virgil could feel Roman’s heart beating as he laid on top of his chest, looking over to the plush rabbit accompanying him. He smiled as he shut his eyes, feeling the warmth comforting him.

Even if his powers seemed like a curse sometimes, he had to admit that there were some blessings in disguise hidden within them.
