I love that boomers and gen x think tiktok radicalized me into a communist because I can tell you right now the thing that has radicalized me the MOST is working at a business. I see first hand how exploitative and wasteful capitalism is every day of my life. And I have seen the spreadsheets of how much money a worker here produces for the company a quarter (it’s in the millions) and they barely get paid above minimum wage. I know the millions and millions the big guys at the top make in bonuses ALONE while doing a small fraction of the work middle management does. I was told I would get a bonus that was 10% of my salary, and I was so happy because I was gonna use it to make a small dent on my student loans, only for them to say “sorry bad economy :/“ and give me 100 dollars, meanwhile the company profited almost 1 billion dollars last year. You could redistribute a fraction of a fraction of that profit and change the lives of everyone in the company. I see constantly how this business is contributing to the climate crisis tremendously in the name of short term profit for a small few at the top. Living in capitalism radicalized me, not the crochet tutorials I watch on tiktok.

i wish so fucking bad that schools would teach even the most basic nature and wildlife literacy. bc what they teach now is how we get these godawful lawns and monocultures and an endlessly growing list of extinct animal species. like i can’t even count how many times i’ve been trying to explain to people why mosquitoes/moths/bats/flies/wasps/etc are so important and people have gone “but that’s what bees are for (pollination)” or “birds can just eat other things” or “things decompose on their own”. it has to be in the dozens. nothing makes me as upset as when people simply cannot wrap their heads around the fact (fact, fact, fact) that every single organism has its purpose in nature and there is *nothing* that is “pointless”. ignorance like this is what leads to barren monoculture lawns and deforestation and “pest control” and devastating invasive species and expanding extinction/endangerment lists. i just wish schools would teach that every animal and plant has its place, and *nothing* needs to be exterminated as a whole, *especially* native wildlife. but of course capitalism can’t thrive on proper environmentalism so i guess we’ll just have to deal with this.

what frustrates you the most about amatonormativity?
Difficulty in living alone due to the expectation that you have a partner to help pay for half the living expenses and help with daily household chores due to being so grinded down by capitalism its genuinely difficult to both work and take care of yourself and your household. Also not having access to tax benefits from marriage is kinda annoying. Soooo mostly disproportionate burden from capitalism I guess

On that note, I just think people in general are getting really out of touch with what qualifies as 'rich'. I've seen people posting about how they don't think having over a million dollars is rich. Like, what. We're all so used to hearing about billionaires that we now think being a millionare is not that much? Do you fucking hear yourself? I know that in this economy it probably doesn't mean as much to be a millionare than it did a few decades ago, but still, in that case those people still have more money than most of us and can live in luxury if they so please.
And yes on a more personal note, if you're a person who has enough money to go on yearly vacations or just vacations in general, I consider you rich and I don't want to hear your fucking opinion. You're more privileged than you realise, just be grateful if money isn't a worry for you.

I think the problem with live action adaptations is that we really don't want them.
People are looking for every way to hate these shows and movies because we love the originals so much. We're starved for new, original content that's genuine and not just a cash grab.
Stop dragging past material back for alright to mediocre stuff that really doesn't do anything new. Give us NEW SHIT. Have these big production companies forgotten how to like... make up a story?
The LA avatar is ok. Just ok, where the original was fenominal. It has the same story beats, but just feels kinda hollow. PJO had a lot of the same issues.
Also Percy Jackson should have been a 2D animated series I mean COME ON. Animation has been valued less and less lately and it's just really sad.
The only exception to my ranting is the One Piece LA those guys somehow did it SO right. I never thought I'd love a live action remake before that.

I was always enraged at the way capitalism has devalued some of the most important labour in human history, but now I'm even more angry since I have started getting more into crafts.
So many people are alienated from the world to such an extent they don't realize how fucking important textiles and construction and art and culinary labour is, because its all ubiquitous under capitalism: it is all profit, and if it isn't profit, then it is worthless. People don't realize just how revolutionary all of the labour was, how important it is, and was, to our survival. And that enrages me.

The recent rise in using AI to create art is a direct consequence of the capitalistic mindset society has moved towards in that it misses the point of art being about the joy of creation, and the fact that art exists because it is genuinely something the artist loves doing purely for the sake of it. Instead, society has started to view art only as a product to be consumed and something that is created only because it can be profited off of. Thus, using AI to make ‘art’ fundamentally misunderstands the purpose of art. In this essay I will

I'm just going to post more Gale and Tav art W.I.Ps and then poof out of existence again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are not finished. I do not know if I will ever go back and actually finish them. But here they are none the less.
I have been so busy lately with work and life that art has not been a priority, or bg3 for that matter. I haven't played in probably three weeks now, which is the longest I've gone without playing the game since I got it in September. And I miss my wizard husband dearly. But alas, I live on earth and not faerun, and capitalism is my largest enemy 😭

man, part of me really wants to type out a whole rant about this shit but I feel like if I do there won't really be a central point and it will just be a bunch of disjointed rambling. so all I'll say is I'm so fucking tired of svt being under a giant corporation. like regardless of opinion about pledis by itself/pre-hybe, at least then we a) knew what we were dealing with and b) had /some/ collective power as fans to influence the company (ex. getting closer MV and svt ring as merch incidents)
all the hybe acquisition did was add 10 more layers of politics onto everything. for every one thing you could argue hybe improved or fixed, there's like 100 other pieces of bullshit that got introduced directly or indirectly. and it's not even a situation of hybe trying to sabotage svt or whatever like some ppl try to fearmonger about, it's literally all just capitalism and trying to please shareholders and make a profit and I'm so fucking tired of it

So I am reading this novel about Naps and Josephine's story and his passion has already worn out in Italy, so his whole great love for here is also over by consequence. An idea is worth loving, not a human woman. He's already ogling Giuseppina Grassini. (Btw funny how his first serious mistress's name was the same he gave to his wife).
I'm bothered when they come to picture this as the ending of all Napoleon's love for Josephine. Mostly in fiction, but even non-fiction tends to give this interpretation of their dynamic, sometimes already during the Italian campaign.
(I should point that this is an old novel, though.)
Why should any feeling of love go away once most passion and enthusiasm is over? The "mio dolce amor" period seems to me as just one phase of a much more complex relationship. I'd rather see it like Napoleon matured out of an excessive enthusiasm, stopped idealising her wife and gave her a more balanced vision and sentiment. He certainly had to do this after facing her faults, maybe also suffering while doing so, but should that not be love too?
He must have stopped worshipping a divinity and begun comprehending a woman, and that should be framed more as a positive thing, not as a delusion.

In any other culture, "the Devil went down to Georgia" would be a story about the dangers of hubris and how you shouldn't make bets and deals with malicious powerful beings, and how you shouldn't tempt fate.
But in the good 'ol U S of A, it's "the devil challenges some random kid and gets ABSOLUTELY BEAT BECAUSE HE SUCKS AND HE'S A LOOSER! LOL, LOOK AT THE DEVIL POUTING LIKE A LITTLE BABY 'CUZ HE LOST"

It's so so disingenuous to claim that Dany should have taken the time to separate xyz privileged persons in Meereen because "not everyone sanctioned the murder of those 163 children 😞". Oh ok. So that very wealthy, very influential man did not personally give the order. Maybe he doesn't even have slaves. But riddle me this: Where did their wealth come from? What are the historical foundations of their political power? In a society that continues to practice oppression (and a society where wealth and status is defined by it), how is it that they continue to hold as much influence and social capital as the "direct evil"? None of this is happening in a vacuum. And like....this is a society where the dehumanization of slaves is systemic. It runs policy and economics. And the people in power obviously know each other and support each other (considering the fact that they can keep wealth and influence!!!). So does it matter if xzy didn't give the order? Does it matter if they were not the ones nailing those kids to the posts? What matters is that they saw oppression, did absolutely nothing in the face of it, and continued to benefit from it. They are not innocent. Evil isn't just related to the guy pulling the trigger. The devil is also the one who's standing in the back, watching, and counting his coffers. And it terrifies me to think about what some of you would be saying in the real world, in the face of oppression. "I cannot be held accountable because I wasn't the one who pulled the trigger"....but you continued to benefit from the privilege afforded to you by the oppressive system AND DID/SAID NOTHING. By turning a blind eye, you have taken the side of the oppressor. So I'm sorry sweetie but you 👏 are 👏 part 👏 of 👏 the 👏 problem 👏 big time!

One of my pet peeves lately has been people forgetting that eccentric rich people have always existed and always do stupid shit with their money that never actually takes off.
No, a tech startup that would "let people keep working via lucid dreaming" is not a sign of something something oncoming capitalist hellscape. You've legitimately lost the plot if you think the average person would think that's a good idea worth pursuing. Just because some rich idiot made it doesn't mean that's a sign of things to come.
I do partially blame the sensationalist clickbait articles about these startups. Like people should know better anyway, but now these ideas are reported on as serious innovations. It used to be news articles about the exploits of eccentric rich people were basically a "Get A Load Of This Guy Cam."

On the "darker" side of being comforted by one's immortality (not in the physical, but metaphorical), I've always been comforted by bone needles.
The idea that even after death, you've still been remembered by how you are used. No, bone needles probably weren't used with human bones, but it's a reminder that you aren't just going to... disappear. I'm comforted in the knowledge that I don't end in a "me" but in a "we," in nature. Everything about me is reused material so much more ancient than I am, and knowing that, I feel so much closer to the world.
#positivity#death positive#death tw#i know i mentioned the last part in a different post but i will never ever forget that nor will i talk about it only once#and the fact that we've found fifty THOUSAND year-old bone needles comforts me too#if you want immortality then there - that's your immortality staring you in the face!#we like to concieve of immortality as something you hold direct witness to but that's only a fantasy...#...in reality you will be immortalized - or likely will be - but it's in such a way you won't be able to witness it firsthand#i have always grappled with the knowledge i could be remembered and recognized and noticed in ANY way#i don't want that and knowing that i am simply borrowing what makes me 'me' does comfort me#it takes the burden off of being Me if that makes sense#this isn't about self-hatred but a burning desire to perfect the craft of being an actual person#i was so absorbed in being Me that i forget that i am part of this universe#human-centeredness will convince you that humans are almost... separate from the universe...#...that humans are unique from the concept of Nature and the World...#...blame it on capitalism or blame it on hubris or blame it on lack of insight... but when you discover how directly connected...#...to the universe you are i think you can learn to sit and appreciate... all of it#from the beetle crawling over your shoe to the wasp gazing into your car mirror... you'll appreciate it#i wonder if anybody else Gets what i'm ranting about here. i always feel weird talking about the things that bring me comfort

Wow how dare the students in my school fight for something as stupid and unnecessary as… clean water. How dare they complain about being stuck on stuffy rooms with no air conditioners. You get free lunches what more could you ask??
I can’t believe we have to fight for basic human needs im not making it to my 20s
