i wish so fucking bad that schools would teach even the most basic nature and wildlife literacy. bc what they teach now is how we get these godawful lawns and monocultures and an endlessly growing list of extinct animal species. like i can’t even count how many times i’ve been trying to explain to people why mosquitoes/moths/bats/flies/wasps/etc are so important and people have gone “but that’s what bees are for (pollination)” or “birds can just eat other things” or “things decompose on their own”. it has to be in the dozens. nothing makes me as upset as when people simply cannot wrap their heads around the fact (fact, fact, fact) that every single organism has its purpose in nature and there is *nothing* that is “pointless”. ignorance like this is what leads to barren monoculture lawns and deforestation and “pest control” and devastating invasive species and expanding extinction/endangerment lists. i just wish schools would teach that every animal and plant has its place, and *nothing* needs to be exterminated as a whole, *especially* native wildlife. but of course capitalism can’t thrive on proper environmentalism so i guess we’ll just have to deal with this.

i feel like one of the biggest things the mdzs fandom tends to forget is that lan wangji is silly

like yes he's stoic and jade faced and perfect but he also:

loves bunnies and anything related to them

throws little tantrums when he's away from his husband for too long

gets flustered easily

is a MENACE when drunk

messes around with his husband

buried his son in a bunny pile

is a biter

so yes, whilst hanguang-jun is a big scary warlord, lan wangji is just a silly guy who likes bunnies and messing around with his husband :3

My favourite thing about the new Nimona movie is that it is a prominent queer story that isn’t about accepting yourself, but making the world accept you. Most of the other movies that feature LGBTQ+ folks are based on overcoming the closest and being true to yourself; despite how “wrong” it is in society. Or they are romance movies. Nimona is a kick ass action fantasy that just so happens to have some of the best, LOUD, representation that I’ve seen in a while. The whole aspect of the movie is to challenge what society views as “wrong” not just overcome the personal guilt in being “wrong” to society.

Also who doesn’t love a dancing shark.

Day 5: Character appreciation

okay i know this is two characters but what can i say i'm an overachiever.

YOU CANT PUT TWO CHARACTERS WHO ARE EACH OTHERS DRAMATIC FOILS IN FRONT OF ME WITHOUT ME GOING INSANE OVER THEM!

Because here's the thing Holly and Lucy are like two faces on a coin, they contrast each other so strongly to the point of clashing but still are key players in Lockwood and co. Holly and Lucy's relationship (while a bit strained for most of the books) is essential to both Lucy's character development and how we see her grow as a character. Without Holly there to push her and contrast her I don't think we would've gotten to see such a wide range of her personality then we would if it was just the iron trio. Love them or hate them Holly and Lucy's relationship towards each other is one of the most memorable in the entire series and that's fully because of the way they bring out certain traits in the other.

They make me insane. they are my girls. they're best friends. they're worst enemies. they can't live without each other. they are night in day. the push in pull of the tides. one cannot exist without the other. they're two sides to the same coin.
