Maanta the Ray, Kwami of Immersion

Maanta is a very calm and relaxed kwami, and it takes a lot to unease her. She tends to get along with most holders, and often manages to befriends ones who intend to use her powers selfishly. Her powers allow one to interact with matter in a unique way, such as moving through solid objects or swimming through the air.

Maanta's Miracuous is a polished marble ray pendant necklace, and their weapon is a fishing rod. Their favorite food is broth, and their transformation phase is "Maanta, fins flare!".

Maanta currently resides in the Drifting Box, which can be found wandering with its Guardian across the Pacific Islands.

idk i just think it’s a little weird that almost every character who gets the “innocent baby” / “little ray of sunshine” treatment usually ends up just having neurodivergent traits and actual negative traits in the show that nobody pays attention to. like idk man it just feels like diet infantilization to me and it’s a teeny weeny bit uncomfortable to see all the time

1. That doesn't mean I need to take the post down, and 2. After "Wishmaker" aired there was a massive Fans reaction regarding Adriens dream picture where theories ran so wild that members of the crew deadass on Twitter claimed that basically NOTHING of it had any particular meaning, which we know by now isn't the case and it was kinda a ridiculous statement in the first place concerning how well DONE that image was. It's damage control when Fan reactions get way too heated and will way too quickly. Doesn't mean people weren't initially right.

Gilles de Rais and the negative fan reactions to him from the Fandom are definitely worthy of damage control. Doesn't mean that my theory post about Jeanne's Black Cat not having been the hero her memories claim he is is invalidated. It just means there is a 50% chance the "it's not him" was damage control and I was spot on. And even if not, than that's that.)

How much of an asshole am I when I tell you guys that "Grimalkin" - as in Jeanne d'Arcs Black Cat Dark Grimalkin -

is a term that in the century these two lives in (1400-1500) was at its high of being used in relation to cats, the devil and witches/witchcraft.

Witchcraft that, if I may remind you, the real Jeanne directly accused Gilles (her Black Cat) of when she showed up in "Ephemeral" for a few seconds and seemingly attacked Adrien directly because he's the Black Cat miraculous holder:

She saw him and said "Gilles", hence why we know it's Gilles de Rais.

Gilles de Rais, who in real life was accused and trialed for (allegedly, its history is complicated) one of the worst and most disgusting serial killings of children in history

AND for witchcraft.

Witchcraft, which we today understand as alchemy and that's what Gilles de Rais is said to have practiced back then: Alchemy.

Alchemy, which in 4x01 "Truth" our very own Gabriel Agreste practiced to repair the peacock miraculous.

And Alchemy/Witchcraft Gilles apparently practiced so frequently and on such massive scales that Jeanne in "Ephemeral" may have been angry as HELL, but she sure wasn't too surprised that the world around her suddenly completely changed and fell into bizarre chaos

Also, literally the first thing Jeanne does is blame Gilles, her black cat, of having done this by practicing witchcraft and then gets super pissed at him

I thiiiiiiiiink the Memory Jeanne in "Reunion" - who is only the spirit manifestation of Jeannes memories as a Ladybug miraculous holder and not the real person Jeanne d'Arc - might be an unreliable narrator regarding certain aspects of her living history she wasn't comfortable with in the first place.

I have the feeling the love story here was in actuality a bit more complicated than memory Jeanne let us know or maybe isnt quite aware of either for some reason.

ive been thinking a lot about how adrien was supposed to be disabled during his concept development and how much of a missed opportunity the whole thing was, like. on one hand I honestly respect the writers for backing out of a topic they thought they wouldn’t be able to handle well; not to say the representation in miraculous is anything great but it shows they do care about it at the very least, which is more than most media can say. I also know this was a decision that came way before the show even started, but I feel like Tomoe Tsurugi is proof that they can write disabled characters and do it in a way that’s fairly decent, so i feel like they could still incorporate it in now since their prior concern is pretty much ruled out (they’re never gonna do this).

and narrative wise I think it would add very much to the entire Agreste family arc, like idk. you could have his disability be a result of the peacock’s damage, or damage to his Amok. have it be part of the reason why Gabriel is so controlling and isolating (ie; viewing his son as frail and made of glass now) and distant/abusive (viewing his son as now “less than perfect,” at least in terms of what he’d envisioned for a perfect child, and blaming Emilie’s sickness/death on it). Adrien’s modeling career is entirely just inspiration-sensationalism with a “hopeful ray of sunshine” public persona. it can even be important to cat noir, too! it’s still an escape from his home life and career, but it’s also a chance for adrien to show that he’s not as fragile as gabriel thinks. It’s his own way of having independence and autonomy and for once being someone that isn’t constantly pitied or made to pretend he’s a docile ray of sunshine constantly.

I’m also deeply autistic enough to say it could match with him being the holder of destruction; half of his life is centered around preserving him and, again, treating him like he’s made of glass. so why not give him the power to literally crack and shatter that glass? poetic cinema and all that. additionally it adds to both why he’s so unserious with his role as a superhero and why he values his partnership with ladybug so highly—he’s indulging in this new freedom while also recognizing that the partnership it comes with is about the only one where he’s genuinely treated as an equal and trusted to take his own part in something. that’s not to say I think all of his friends would instantly change personalities and baby him (especially not Nino) but let me tell you, even as someone who’s not physically disabled, the distinct feeling of being othered or unequal is there no matter how much support you have.

everybody knows this already but there’s just so much potential in everything that the writers don’t do reagghhhhhghhhh
