Cockatrice Ankake and an Eastern Style Meal
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Got my trusty clay pot out to make this one. Ground turkey for the cockatrice stir fried with pumpkin and kohlrabi with some soy sauces, ginger, white pepper, and shaoxing wine for seasoning. Used dashi (from the other dish's seaweed soup), soy sauce, mirin, sake, and corn starch for the egg sauce. Came out really well but a bit wet on the bottom so I didn't get as much of the crispy grains I wanted. Maybe because the barley was precooked.

Most of Maizuru's meal I got from the store. They had shochujikomi mackerel in the freezer area that I baked up and I had a bunch of pickles saved up in the fridge that I pulled an assortment of. Made my own simple seaweed soup and onigiri.
So filling, we couldn't even get through half of it tonight. A couple more pics of the components of the bowl below the cut!

What's Mine is Yours💘
Tumblr media
Miguel O'Hara x gn!Reader
CW: none, fluff, little self indulgent oops. Just something quick. INSPO FOR THE DISNEYLAND BIT: @teenidlegirl go read her Disneyland headcanons they're so good!
WC: 856 ish
----
As Miguel's partner, everything you love quickly becomes everything he loves too.
Miguel doesn't think of himself as easily influenced. He's not a follower by any means. I mean he's the spider society's leader. But now, that you're in his life, he's acting out of the ordinary.
Romance flicks? Could never really stomach those. Now he's seen all of the Nicholas Sparks movies and Twilight Saga. And of course he's Team Edward.
Those reality shows you love with a lot of fighting and drama he normally thought were insufferable? He's on season 9 episode 12 right along with you, even though he won't admit it.
He'll watch from the stairwell, eyes peeking down at the screen which you're so absorbed in. Over time, he'll eventually be at the bottom of the stairs, then the kitchen, then the room starts to get a little cold because he stood there watching with the refrigerator door open too long because he's just "getting a snack." Now he's standing behind the couch, arms folded.
He's like a vampire, he can't join unless you invite him in.
You give him a little sneaky grin as you pat the empty spot next to you on the couch and he shakes his head as he sits down, trying to play it all cool.
"I guess I can watch a little bit with you."
Then when the drama's getting good, his arm eventually leaves the spot from around your shoulders. He's leaned forward, elbows on his thighs, which he's nervously bouncing (I totally headcanon Miguel with having restless leg syndrome), his hands covering his face as he focuses intently on the screen until the villain finally gets the karma she deserves.
"Thank God! I'm sick of her ass!"
Those fluffy fuzzy socks you like to wear? He expects you to buy matching ones for him. And even when he has his own, he'll still fish yours out of the laundry basket. No wonder all of them turn up missing.
He came with you to get a pedicure just for shits and giggles, but when he put his feet in the warm water and laid back against the massaging chair? Oh yeah, he's coming with you every time now. Sorry.
Disneyland? Oh God, why would you drop hundreds of dollars to stand in line for 2 hours for a 3 minute ride? Crowds and people being dumb in public are his worst enemy. But, seeing how you cry at the fireworks and softly hum the music of all the Disney songs you've loved since you were a kid, how cute your cheeks look all puffed up when you go to town on a cream cheese pretzel, the way you scream on Big Thunder Mountain, the way you close your eyes and take a deep inhale every time you walk into Pirates of the Caribbean as the AC hits your face like it's crack, the way you smile and gush when you walk up to Winnie the Pooh and friends and give him a big hug while Miguel takes your picture.
Even the park is getting to him a little bit. You're making him feel special, like he's finally able to be a kid again, experience that giddy feeling of magic and a world where fantasy is real like through the eyes of a child, because he never had that growing up.
Okay, now he might be okay with going to Disney.  But only every other year or so. And you can live with that for now. Walt Disney World is already booked on your calendar for next time. Now to convince him that airfare to Japan isn't even that expensive so you can also go to Tokyo Disney...
He never ate breakfast in the mornings besides like a protein shake or a black coffee at most. Now, going to cafes and a little pastry is religion to him, all thanks to you, his cute partner who reminds him it's the most important meal of the day.
His restaurant orders have changed, slightly. He'll try what you're having and soon all your favorite spots are now his.
You jokingly buy him his own skin moisturizer for Christmas because yours runs out much more quickly than it used to, when you catch him red handed using it behind your back.
He's been to more concerts, read some more books, ate some new foods, experienced more things all thanks to you.
He never so much as hung a stocking for Christmas, now the apartment halls are literally, decked out. He used to never answer the door on Halloween, now there's 8 boxes of king sized candy bars and a planned couples costume well in advance. He loathed Valentines Day and all that consumerism, Hallmark bs, now it's marked religiously on his calendar.
His whole world a little more colorful as he knows it.
A matching coffee mug sitting in the cupboard next to his that used to sit all alone.
Because one of the ways he feels the closest to you even when he can't be physically with you is to enjoy all of the things you love. They belong to him now too. And he wouldn't have it any other way.

Room for One More
Tumblr media
Pairing: Fem!reader x Shinichiro
Summary: Seeing how you cares for his little siblings makes Shinichiro want to have a child of his own with you <3
Word Count: 3k
Warnings: changed the sano siblings ages a bit from cannon to fit the narrative, talk of pregnancy, breeding kink, raw sex, fingering, cream pie, some pet names, not proof read
You woke up to a familiar sound: little feet on hardwood and stifled giggles. You felt the bed shift under the weight 2 tiny bodies as they wedged their way between you and your boyfriend.
“Wake upppppp” Mikey whined. You rolled over, finding him poked at Shinichiro’s cheek.
He grumbled, turning into the pillow. “C’mon Mikey, it’s early.”
Mikey snorted. “It’s nine!”
Shin’s voice came muffled from the pillow. “That is early.”
“Lazy!” Emma giggled at Mikey’s comment.
“How about instead of bothering Shin, you give me a good morning hug?” you asked, earning delighted squeals from the two of them. They practically leaped at you, but you received them happily, hugging them tightly. “You too, Izana, you know I can’t get up without a hug.”
Izana was standing in the doorway, watching this all unfold. Being the oldest, besides Shin, you knew he felt like he wasn’t supposed to get in on the “baby stuff.” However, you also knew he really liked it, as he was still very much a child after all. You were always sure to invite him in, so he felt like he was doing it for you, rather than himself. He gave you a big, sweet hug.
“I’m hungry,” Mikey groaned.
“You’re always hungry,” Izana replied.
“I’ve got an idea,” you interjected. “Whoever brushes their teeth the fastest gets an extra piece of bacon.” Their eyes all lit up and in a flash they were gone.
You leaned over, pressing a kiss on Shin’s cheek. “I’ll make them breakfast, you rest, okay?” Shin had been working a lot lately; the responsibility of the bike shop was a lot for him. This was his first day off in a while and you knew he needed it.
“Thank you,” he murmured, turning to give you a quick kiss on the lips.
You made it to the kitchen just in time to see the kids race in, Izana sliding into his chair first. “We have a winner!” you announced, ruffling his snowy hair. He smiled proudly. The other two pouted.
“He cheated,” Mikey grumbled.
You were fishing out pans from the cabinet as you replied, “Sore losers don’t get any bacon.” That got him quiet. You got everything you needed- eggs, bread, butter, and bacon - and got to work cooking breakfast. It wasn't long before Shinichiro stumbled in.
“I thought you were gonna rest some more?”
Shin cozied up behind you at the stove, wrapping his arms around you. “Smells too good to stay away.” You leaned into the warmth of his touch, smiling as he peppered soft kisses on your neck and cheek.
“Eww!” the kids groaned in unison. You giggled as Shin told them to shut up, while half laughing himself. When you finished cooking you gathered around the little kitchen table to eat. Everyone fell silently as they enjoyed their food. Meal times were typically the quietest parts of the day.
Just as you were all finishing up Shin’s phone rang. He looked at the number and groaned. “Shit.”
“Oohh, Shin cursed!” Mikey gasped, making Emma giggled. Shin stuck his tongue out at them. Although he was much older, it didn’t stop the typical sibling dynamics from playing out.
“It’s the bike shop, I gotta take it,” he explained, before slipping out of the room.
“Let's get this cleaned up, yeah?” you said to the kids. They got up without complaint, helping you bring the dishes to the dishwasher and load it up. The kids definitely messed around a lot, but they were great little helpers. By the time you finished, Shinichiro returned with a disappointed look on his face.
“I have to go into work,” he sighed, heavy with sadness.
“No! We were supposed to have a picnic today,” Emma pouted. She expressed the disappointment you felt. You weren’t angry, if anything you were upset for Shin. You knew he was looking forward to getting some time off and was probably just as upset as you were.
“I’m really sorry,” Shin replied, “It’s an emergency.”
“Is everything okay?” you asked.
“Yeah no one’s hurt or anything,” Shin replied, “We just have this big job that needed to be finished today. The guy who was supposed to do it got really sick and if we don’t complete this we’ll lose a ton of money. I’m so sorry I gotta go get it done.” Shinichiro looked so disappointed, it made your heart ache. It always sucked when he got called into work unexpectedly, but today he looked particularly upset. You knew he hated how much he had to work, despite loving motorcycles. It was difficult for him to be so young and have to provide for himself as well as all his little siblings. His dedication and care of them was something that drew you to him in the first place. “I’m sorry my love,” you replied, “That really sucks, but not your fault. We understand, don’t we?”
The kids were definitely disappointed, but they nodded along anyway thankfully. “It’s okay Shin,” Izana stated, “We can hang out a different day.”
Shinichiro shook his head. “No we already bought everything for the picnic, you all should still go and have a good time.”
“Are you sure?” you asked.
“Absolutely. I’d feel worse if you guys didn’t have fun today,” Shin replied. “You’ll all behave for y/n if she takes you to the park right?” This time they nodded eagerly. “Good,” Shin replied. He put his hand on Izana’s head, fluffing his hair a bit. “You’re the man of the house while I’m away, bud. Make sure these two behave.”
“Hey!” Mikey and Emma grumbled while Izana beamed with the honor Shin had bestowed on him. Shin told the kids to get dressed, giving you a minute alone.
“I really am sorry about this, I was looking forward to spending time together,” Shin said, taking your hand in his.
“It’s really okay, you can’t control it,” You replied, giving his hand a squeeze, “You just owe us extra next time you’re off.” Your light teasing made him smile.
“You got it.” He stole a kiss before the kids could come back down and gag over your PDA. “If you need me at all, please call. I’ll say fuck work if you really need me for something.”
“Don’t worry about it, just do what you need to do and come home to us as soon as you can, okay?” you replied, stealing another kiss while you could.
“Yes ma’am.” With that the kids came racing back into the room. Shin said his goodbye before heading out. You got the kids organized, having them pack up their snacks and toys they wanted to bring with them. When everything was ready, you piled everything into a little wagon, which Izana was happy to put in charge of pulling.
You held Emma’s hand as you walked to park. Mikey ran head, eager as always, while Izana followed dutifully behind so he could keep an eye on everyone. When you finally arrived, you let them run loose as you laid out the blanket. Despite it being a nice day, the park was fairly empty, giving the kids freedom to do as the pleased. As you watched them run around and laugh with each other, that familiar warm feeling grew in your chest.
Shin’s sibling were not your kids, obviously. You were just his girlfriend, after all. Still you felt such strong affection for them. You didn’t have a big family growing up and you loved being a part of their family like this. It meant a lot to you that his siblings seemed to love you as much as you loved them.
After running around for awhile, the kids worked up an appetite and joined you on the picnic blanket. You dug through the picnic basket, pulling out everyone’s favorite snacks. You felt a little tug in your chest, knowing Shin had gone shopping to get everyone just what they liked. When you saw his favorite candy at the bottom of the basket you kept it hidden, wanting him to have a little treat to come home too.
After lunch, Izana and Mikey went back to running around and playing some tag-like game. Emma roped you into playing dolls with her, not that you minded. When she got bored of that, she went off to collect little flowers that were sprouted in the park. She brought you back a little bouquet, smiling brightly and filling your chest with warmth. There were a few extra she had for herself.
“Sit,” you patted the blanket next to you. Emma did as you asked, sitting in front of you. You used your fingers to comb through her silky blonde hair, then braided it, weaving in the little flowers she found. When you showed her, she squealed with delight.
“It’s like Rapunzel!” she beamed.
“Can Rapunzel go tell her brothers its time to go home?” Emma nodded, skipping off to round up Mikey and Izana while you packed everything up. The sun was starting to set as you walked back home. You were surprised how much time you spent out, but you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. It only would have been better if Shin could have joined you.
When you got home, you instructed the kids to wash up while you started making something for dinner. You kept it a simple crowd pleaser: pasta.
“How you guys feel about watching a movie after dinner?” You asked as everyone ate at the table.
“Can we make a fort?” Mikey asked.
“Of course,” you replied. The three of them ate the rest of the meals excitedly chatting about how they would arrange the pillows and blankets. Once dinner was finished, they helped you clean up without complaint, eager to get to the fort building. It took a bit of time to get it big enough for everyone to fit while also being structurally sound, but eventually you got it right.
“You guys don't want snacks right?” you joked, knowing they’d be appalled you’d even suggest they go snack less.
“Nuh uh! I want popcorn,” Mikey replied.
“And m&ms!” Emma chimed in. You laughed, but fetched what they asked for, before climbing into the fort. It was a tight fit, but they all had no qualms cuddling up to you. Emma was squished against your chest, while Mikey rested by your stomach. Izana snuggled up against your leg.
The kids chatted and giggled at the beginning of the movie, but slowly fell silently as they drifted to sleep. Usually Izana is able to stay up through a movie, but even he was knocked out from a long day at the park. You were wondering how you would get them to their beds without waking them up, when you heard the front door open.
“I’m home!” Shin announced. When he walked into the living room he laughed at the sight of the blankets and pillows arranged haphazardly. “Shit I didn’t know they were asleep,” he said when he came around tot he front of the fort. Shinichiro’s heart seized at the sight of his little siblings cuddled up to you so peacefully. He already knew he loved you, but it moments like this it was almost overwhelming for him.
“It’s okay, they’re totally knocked out from today,” you whispered. “We missed you, but I saved you a plate. Why don’t you go eat and then we’ll move them?”
Shin nodded, even though he had the strongest urge to join you guys. His growling stomach was the only thing that pulled him away. He ate quickly, but appreciated the meal you had left for him.
“Thank you for dinner, my love,” Shin said when he returned, “Now lets get them to bed.” Shin gently lifted Izana off you, who stayed asleep while he carried him to his room. Next he took Mikey, leaving you to carry Emma up to her room. All the kids remained asleep on the short walk to their room.
“Your turn,” Shin greeted outside Emma’s door. Before you could ask what he meant, he swept you off your feet and carried you to your bedroom. You both laughed quietly, as he placed you on the bed.
“We missed you a lot today,” you told him.
“I missed you guys too,” Shin replied “You’re so good with the kids, you have no idea how much it means to me.” Shin spent his entire day thinking of you all. It was not the first time you stepped up and helped with the kids, but it never meant any less to him. He loved how you cared for them, treating them basically like your own. Coming home to all of them so cuddled up to you just confirmed what he always felt. “Would it be crazy if I said I want a kid of our own?”
Your eyes went wide. The two of you had talked about having a family, but it had always been casual. Something that was more of a day dream than a true plan. “We aren’t even married,” was all that came out in your shock. You and Shin weren’t traditional by any means, but you always assumed you’d be married before having children.
Shin got a funny smile on his face. “Funny you should say that.” He went over to his drawer, digging through it until he pulled out a little black velvet box. You gasped. “So, I had been planning on proposing today when we were all together. I was really upset when I didn’t think it would happen, but I guess it was meant to be,” he explained, with the sweet grin on his face that had made you fall in love with him. “So, y/n, will you marry me?”
There was only one answer. “Yes, of course.” You threw your arms around him, happy tears streaming down your face. You only pulled away so he could slide the beautiful ring on your finger. “I love it so much. I love you so much.”
“I love you more,” Shin replied, pulling you in for a kiss. He laid you down, kissing you as he straddled your body. You were both giggling, equally giddy and desperate for each other, as if it was the first time being together. Your stripped each other as you kissed, barely letting your lips part. “Fuck,” Shin said looking at you, “So fucking pretty. My girl. my fiancé.”
You blushed and smiled, loving the sound of that. You twirled the hair at the base of his head, just like you knew he liked. It only egged him on more. “Gonna be even better when I can call you my wife.” His hand slipped between your legs, spreading the slickness that gathered. You let out a little satisfied sigh as he teased your clit. “Fuck you’d look so good pregnant. You want that, yeah? Wanna have a baby with me love?”
Maybe it was the excitement of the engagement or the ache of desire you felt for Shin, but in that moment there was nothing you wanted more. “Please Shin,” you begged, “I want that so bad.” Shin smiled widely, slipping his fingers inside you. You let out a little gasp as he pressed into your g-spot, making you impossibly wetter.
“Fuck, gonna give that to you,” he murmured against your skin. He kissed your breasts, his tongue sliding across your nipple. Goosebumps raised on your skin as he continued to work at you. His thumb found your clit, pressing little circles until the bubble of pleasure inside you popped.
You bit your lip, letting out a low, breathless moan as you came. You were still acutely aware that the kids were near by, asleep in their beds. The last thing you wanted to do was wake them up.
When you were finished, Shinichiro sat up, pumping his hard, leaky cock. The sight of him coupled with the anticipation of getting to feel him raw for the first time made your body drum with excitement. Shin was just as eager, lining himself up to you and pressing himself inside you.
“Fuck,” he groaned, “Knew you’d feel good, but this is like fucking heaven.” He gave slow, deep thrusts, allowing him to savor ever inch of you. “We’re never using condoms again.” You giggled at his enthusiasm, but also fully agreed that this felt better than before.
Shinichiro grew more needy. His thrusts became faster and harder as he lost himself in the feeling of you. “Can’t wait to fill you up,” he panted softly, “Gonna be the prettiest mommy. Fuck I love you.”
“I love you too, Shin,” you whimpered. Your hands dragged up and down his back, holding him close to you. The faster he moved, the more the pleasure inside you rebuilt. You were getting to the tipping point when Shin let out a low curse and buried his face in your neck. You felt his cock twitch inside you, filling you with his warm cum. The sensation sent you over the edge, making you cum around his cock. You bit into his shoulder to stifle the sound.
The both of you stayed like that for awhile, Shin buried deep inside you, bodies pressed together, breathless and flushed. Eventually, Shin propped himself up on his elbows. He wasn’t far from you by any means, but it allowed him to look at you. His cheeks were flushed with a loving glow that only made your heart flutter more.
“I really mean it, you know,” Shin said, pushing hair out of your eyes. “There’s nothing more that I want than to have a family with you.”
His sweetness and sincerity nearly brought tears to your eyes. “I want that, too. I’m so glad I get to be a part of your family now.” It was all you had wanted since you first started dating him
He picked up the hand that the ring was on, placing a soft kiss on it. “You’ve always been part of the family, now it’s just official.”
You cupped his cheek, pulling him in for another kiss. “I love you so much.”
Shin only smiled brighter, “I love you more.” The joy you felt was beyond anything you could explain. All you knew was there was nothing more you were excited for than to be build a life and family with Shinichiro.

Seaside
Tumblr media
Pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley x Civilian!Reader Scenario: You both spend the day down at the seaside Note: Set in 2014 Warnings: No mask Simon (It's my personal headcanon in his regular life he probably wouldn't wear it), teasing, eating, smutty smut smut, sex, p in v, creampie, canon-typical swearing.
It was a surprisingly nice day, the sun was shining, the sky was completely clear of any clouds and there was even a gentle breeze to keep things cool. Added to the fact that it was a weekend and you didn’t have any plans it seemed like some miracle. Whilst you sat and ate breakfast you mentioned. “Maybe we could go to the seaside?” You suggested and from where Simon was making a tea behind you, he hummed in agreement. Honestly you had expected more resistance but he seemed just fine with the idea.
“Oh, that is exciting.” You giggled happily. “Do you want me to pack some food or should we get something down there?” You quizzed with a pinch in your brow. “Babe, I’m not driving all the way down there without having fish and chips.” He smirked, sipping from his tea. “And ice cream?” You looked up happily. “And ice cream.” He confirmed. “Now, go on. Go get ready.” He coaxed softly watching as you finished your toast in a big bite and then rushed to go get ready.
It didn’t seem to take long. You finally decide on an outfit and then were waiting as Simon approached his keys in hand. “Where’s your jacket?” He asked, his own fleece hung over his arm and arch in his brow. “I won’t need one, Si. It’s a nice day out there.” Gesturing to the window beside you as the sun beamed down. “What about when it gets chilly tonight?” He replied evenly, making a fair comment but not one that you were willing to listen to. There were times when you would do this, act stubborn or rather blatantly ignore his suggestions and typically you would always come around to his way of thinking only after the disaster had happened.
“Simon, I’ll be fine. I’m a big girl.” Then shaking your head and opening the door briskly. “The sooner we get there the sooner we can soak up the sun.” A tired sigh left his lips watching as you walk away from him. “Fine.” He huffed, closing the door and locking it behind him. It was your mistake to make.
Tumblr media
The drive down wasn’t too long, but it seemed like everyone had the same idea of heading down to the beach. It was like a fight for a parking and earned the glares of several families when he finally slotted into a space. “Oi.” He growled as you were about to climb from the car. “Look here…” He took your face in hand and took some time applying sun cream to your face, taking his time massaging it into your skin. “I get the feeling you just like putting cream on my face~” You purred which earned you a look of caution.
“We only just got here.” Simon’s voice was even and he saw that cheeky smile that pressed to your lips. “Behave yourself or I’ll drive you home.” He commanded and you laughed and nodded. “Promise~” Then leaning forward to kiss him and he smirked. “You smell like a holiday.” He noted, it was a pleasant smell, one that he wanted to savour for a moment longer before climbing from the car and announcing. “It’s never too early for ice cream, is it?”
It turned out that it really was never too early for ice cream, the two of you took a couple cones down to the stony beach and sat down watching the ocean. Even on a roasting day like this the water would be shockingly cold and still there were people playing in it. You smiled happily as you watched them before turning your attention to Simon, eyeing his frozen treat and he huffed as he held it in your direction to take a lick. “Mmm…” Then holding out your own for him to taste too. “That’s nice, babe.” He approved softy.
Tumblr media
A loud calling of music and flashing lights drew you both over to the arcades next. They were crammed with kids and adults lining up to play the penny machines, claw machines, shooting games and anything else that was hidden in there. You even convinced Simon to toss a couple pennies into the machine, whilst you exchanged almost all the change in your purse to win a plastic ring and a lollipop.
Proudly you kept holding your hand out for Simon to observe it. A smirk played on his lips as he observed it for a moment and then said. “Very nice… you put about £5 into that machine to get a 50p bit of junk from it.” “Ah-ah. I won this junk.” You corrected with a big grin playing on your lips. “More than you won, Si~” You teased and this caused him to smirk before pulling you into his side and continuing to walk through the arcade before hearing the roar of laughter and cheering.
The two of you glanced over to see a group of lads gathered around the punching machine, a bag swung down and you would test your strength by hitting it as hard as you could. They were clearly trying to beat the record that was into the high 800s. “Bet you could beat that.” You coaxed softly, hand caressing the strong ink-covered bicep. You both observed for a moment before the group grew bored with not being able to beat it and the second it was free you rushed towards it and placed a few stray coins into it. “You go first.” Simon smirked taking a step back and watching you curl your fist. “Ay…” He caught your wrist before you could swing. “You’ll hurt your hand like that… like this…” He fixed your fist and then stepped back. “Go on. Hard as you can.”
You threw a punch and laughed as you watched the numbers fly up. “Ow~” You shook your hand from the impact Simon gently held it and brought it up to his lips to kiss softly. “Not bad, you know.” He nodded at the numbers that flashed on the screen, proudly announcing your score which didn’t beat the record. “Now, out the way…” He struck your rear in a firm slap. “Let me show you how it’s done.” Pressing the button, the ball swung down again and Simon eyed it for a moment.
His punch was loud, making the ball bang loudly as it swung back. You laughed and watched as the numbers rapidly climbed and climbed. A squeal of delight found your throat as the record was beat and then some. The text of the screen flash proudly the new record way into the 1000s. “You did it!” You squeaked and rushed towards him. Simon laughed collecting you into his arms as if a prize he’d just won. “I’m so impressed.” “You should be.” He laughed and held you close for a moment longer and then settling you back onto your feet.
“Well, you’ll really impress me if you can win me something from that machine…” You pointed over to the claw machine and he huffed. “Fine. But you’re paying.” He pressed a sweet kiss to your forehead and then stalked over.
Tumblr media
As the sun was setting Simon brought the two of you fish and chips, you sat happily munching away with the stuffed toy he had won from the claw machine between your legs. A cold shiver ran down your entire frame then. Now that the sun had set a cold breeze was setting in. From beside you Simon observed the way your skin prickled and your shoulders shook softly from the chill.
“Bloody hell…” Simon knew that you’d be too stubborn to speak up and instead of fighting you on it just removed his fleece and handed it on your direction. “Here… before you get hypothermia.” You were quick to climb into the warmth of his fleece, enjoying that way that it smelt of his strong cologne and just of him. “Thanks.” You mumbled softly as you continued eating your chips.
You knew the comment was coming and simply smiled when he said. “Told you to bring a jumper.” Then glancing in your direction. “Just knew that you’d get cold.” A giggle slipped from your lips. “You’re always bloody cold. Like being next to an icicle at night, one that puts their bloody cold feet on you.” It would always rile him up when he was just dropping off to sleep and your cold feet you find their way onto his body. It was jolt him right back awake. “S’not funny.” He grumbled as you giggled and leaned into his side.
“I am always cold and I’m so lucky to have someone so warm and caring to snuggle up to.” You giggled and glanced up at him. “Besides, I knew a really good way of warming up~” There was that same playful lilt to you voice which let Simon know he was in trouble. “How much space do you think there is in the back of the car…” Simon smirked and responded. “Why don’t we find out?”
Tumblr media
Night had drawn over completely and the car park was practically empty as you bounced on his rigid cock, from this angle you were hitting all the right spot, the tip of his cock kissing your cervix with every slam down against his lap, whimpering and mewling into his throat as Simon clasped desperately at your waist. “C’mon pretty girl…” Those strong hands clawed hard to slam you down filthily onto his cock. “S’fuckin’ tight… Fuckinghell…” Simon’s voice was practically a growl as his fingers dug into your soft flesh.
By now your thighs were burning, but you didn’t care. It was a perfect ending to this amazing day. The two of you wouldn’t have been able to survive the journey home and besides now you would avoid the traffic.
“S’close, Simon~” You cried softly, burying your face into his throat. “S’fuckin’ deep… Ohgod… C-can I… can… I please…” “Yes, baby.” He confirmed, his hand disappearing between your body so his thumb could rub your swollen clit so softly before grunting as he felt your body swiftly fall over the edge, walls pulsing and body shuddering hard in his grip, even as you body tried to lock tight his hands continued to use your body, bouncing you and extending your pleasure as much as he could. “Goodgirl… good girl… give me everything, babe… goodgirl… Such a pretty girl when you cum…” He praised in your ear causing you to mewl and moan sweetly. “My sweet little thing… cumming of my fuckin’ cock… makin’ such a mess… goodgirl…” He coaxed his hand down your back soothingly.
There were little noises of effort as you continued to bounce on his cock and Simon smiled at how beautiful you looked. “Need your cum…” You whispered breathlessly, using what little effort you had left in your body to try and milk some from him. “Yeah, you need it?” Simon grunted out, glancing down between your bodies to watch his cock disappearing into your tight hole over and over again. “Need it…” You whined, gripping at his shoulders and pressing down harder. “Use me… Give it to me…” You whimpered leaning in to kiss him. “Please~”
He took that as permission to grip at your hips and begin to slam you down recklessly on his cock, using your sweet body for all his pleasure. “Feel… fuckin’ good, babe… won’t last… long…” He warned and sticking true to his words only lasted a few moments before beginning to shoot his seed into your accepting walls, pulling your frame close so he could hold you as he exploded inside. “F-fuck…” He grumbled, seating you fully on his lap and panting against your throat. “Fuck… that was… fuck…” He chuckled lowly. “You’re perfect~”
“So are you~” You giggled into his throat and he stroked his hands slowly up your back, soothing you sensually. “Let me… just stay here for a bit longer and then… then I’ll drive us home~” Turning his head he pressed a kiss to your cheek. “Just rest, love.”

Spoilers for Avatar: The Way of Water A whole ass lot.
Crying cuz I forgot to mention the reader is not identical to Kiri or Grace. I'm so stupid, it's literally a big plotline and I completely grazed over it. I hope you all just assumed that cuz if not.... idk now you know.
Tell me your thoughts!! I have everything planned out like I said but I'm indecisive if I want to kill Neteyam and give the reader a darker arc or keep Neteyam alive and have the readers stay more moral so share with me which one you would like to see more.
Tumblr media
You rubbed the sleep out of your eyes as you and Neteyam prepared for your early morning duty of feeding the Ikran. As the two oldest you have more responsibility than the others, not that you mind, you've always loved tasks that kept you busy.
" You think they'd eat this?" Neteyam whispered lifting up a bright orange fish with bug eyes. You scoffed in disgust, flicking the weird fish out of your face." I wouldn't test it. Look at its face." You poked the dead fish, watching it jiggle.
" I would never feed my baby that." Neteyam rolled his eyes, you took the Ikran's health a bit too seriously in his opinion. You didn't allow them to eat or try anything new, the fear of accidental poisoning was the explanation you gave when you were asked about your weird monitoring habit.
You finished collecting food for the Ikrans and headed out with Neteyam, who was having trouble holding his head up." Sometimes I wish we could sleep in." He yawned, rubbing his eyes and dragging his hand down his face.
" I'm sure you'll be fine." You turned around to face him, your thoughts quickly taken over by Aonung who was walking behind you with something in his arms. Your ears flattened quickly and Neteyam turned his head slightly to peak over his shoulder.
" Fantastic, just what we needed." You snarled under your beath and Neteyam kicked some sand at you." Shut up, he's the chiefs son." Neteyam scolded you and you rolled your head to the side in annoyance.
Neteyam turned back to the front as Aonung eyed you as you turned forward away from his pointed gaze. You turned your sight towards the waters, spotting Tsireya and Rotxo in the water. They seemed to be ushering something in the water towards the shallow area.
" What do you think they're doing?" Neteyam questioned, readjusting his hold on his basket. You shrugged, focusing on the path before you." Let's just go feed the Ikran's and go eat breakfast."
After feeding them their fish, you and Neteyam walked back to your Marui. You were starving, hoping there was at least a little left for both of you. Considering Tuk and her big appetite would swallow a whole table of food.
As you got closer to the stairs you saw Tsireya standing next to them, talking to her brother rather aggressively. You've never seen her look that irritated before and you watcher her stomp off as Aonung huffed and walked towards the water.
" Family drama at its finest." You shook your head and Neteyam chuckled." If that was you and Lo'ak you'd be scratching and hissing at each other." You feigned offence, holding your hand to your chest." Me? Agressive towards my brother?" You waved your hand up and down in his face and rolled your head to the side with a dramatic sigh." It seems you do not know me brother. I am truly baffled and saddened by your false accusations."
He smirked, mimicking your eye roll." Perhaps we left my actual sister back in the forest and you're a hallucination because my (y/n) religiously punches her brother in the head." He pinched you." See look my fingers slightly went through you. You don't exist."
You snorted, poking his ribcage. He pretended to not feel a thing and gasped, acting shock." No way, I didn't feel a thing!" You stuck out your bottom lip." How could I be fake? I'm too gorgeous for your simple mind to comprehend, you would never be able to create such a flawless being with that brain of yours."
You dramatically flipped your hair, but you were too aggressive, and a bead hanging on the end of one of your braids swung around, hitting your right eye.
" OW! Shit!!" You cried, covering your eye that was currently burning excruciatingly. Neteyam laughed at you, holding his stomach. His laughs got more historical as you sent him a disgusted look and tears ran out of your eye.
" Why are you laughing! What if I popped a vein in my eye!" You yelled, smacking him as you kept your eye closed. He rolled his eyes; he continued to giggle and covered his mouth with the back of his hand. " I'm not even sure it works like that."
" What? Are you calling me stupid?" You put your hand on your eye, tears continuing to fall. " What would be new about that?" You scoffed, flicking his shoulder." Anyways let's get some breakfast before it's all gone."
"Ok.." There was a pause as you guys started walking again." Race you!" He cried, not even warning you as he took off. You growled in frustration." I'm not racing you!"
" Lame-o, I'll be eating your breakfast then!" He cried and you just rolled your eyes, or eye as your other one was still burning. You slowed down your walking pace, enjoying the peace and quiet.
It didn't last long though because you felt a tap on your shoulder, a grunt following. You turned around, a scowl on your face." What?" You barked at Aonung who was holding a rag in one of his hands.
" I saw your idiot self hit your eye." He stated taking your hand that was covering your right eye and placed a cool cloth in it." I don't need your cloth." You huffed, placing it back in his hand and he groaned.
" Just take it!" He scowled, placing the towel on your eye this time, forcing you to take it and hold it. It made the burning sensation immediately calm down, it felt great, but you weren't about to admit that to Aonung.
An angry pout formed on your face and Aonung smirked at your annoyance." See? You did need my cloth." He whispered arrogantly in your face, and his smirk widened into a grin watching your face contort into disgust. " Stop flirting Aonung we still need a few more things for today's training." His sister called from behind him, and he immediately took a step back from you, giving her a scoff.
You didn't even realize how close he got to your face because of the annoyance of just him being there. You turned your head to Tsireya who held a smirk of amusement on her face. You bowed your head a bit in greeting and took Aonung's towel off your eye.
You threw it at his chest which he caught with a growl." I wasn't flirting, just trying to be nice to this stuck-up brat." He taunted you and you snarled at him. Your eye still hurt so you kept it shut, you rubbed it lightly. You hit your eye surprisingly hard so it would probably be red for a little while.
You turned on your foot sharply, lifting your chin up at him. His amused laugh rang from behind you, and you heard Tsireya smack him.
When you arrived back at your families Marui your breakfast had gotten cold. You still ate it but blamed it heavily on Aounung's 'kindness'.
" Let's gooooo." Tuk whined, pulling your face from your food as you tried to shovel the remaining fish into your mouth." Slow down, you do not want to choke." Neytiri informed, cleaning up Tuk's area and watching in a bit of amusement as you gulped down the rest.
" I just don't want to be late." You explained as you stood up as Tuk continued to pull your arm. She hummed." Have fun." She called out and you saluted, quickly rushing out of the Marui to catch up to your siblings.
You made your way to the water where everyone was waiting for you and Tuk." Finally." Aonung grumbled, earning an elbow from Tsireya." Today we will be teaching you how we transport from place to place in the water." She explained, ushering you all into the sea.
Once you got waist deep you all stopped. Aonung clicked and let out a call. An animal came swimming by, doing a circle and another one came to a halt next to Aonung. " These are ilu." He pointed his hands at them, as you watched the animal move.
"If you want to live here-" He started until a hiccup came from you, and you quickly covered your mouth. You looked shyly away from his annoyed gaze as your ears heated up in embarrassment." Sorry, ate too fast."
Although he was disgusted with the idea of him being attracted to you, he found you a bit cute in this moment. You weren't being obnoxious or aggressive, there was no sign of the aggravating girl he just met.
It only lasted for a second though, because Lo'ak laughed at you causing you to scowl. Of course Aonung doesn't like you though, one moment can't shape his whole view of you. No, no, he definitely isn't attracted to you, not even a little.
He rolled his eyes." You have to ride." He finished his sentence and you hiccupped again. His ears went slightly back in annoyance." Will you stop." He barked at you and your scoffed." I'm not doing it on purpose." You fought back and Tsireya hopped in the middle, trying to deescalate the situation.
" How about we ride now." She smiled and Neteyam pinched your ear that was still red." I will take Lo'ak and Tuk." Tsireya said with a smile, and you grumbled under your breath as you and Neteyam moved over to Aonung.
" You go first." You suggested to Neteyam, shoving his arm in the ilu's direction. And Neteyam glared at you, not liking your demanding tone. You only smirked at him as Aonung led him over to the ilu.
He began explaining something to Neteyam who paid attention inventively, unlike you who was slowly trying to back away and leave." Where do you think you're going?" Aonung questioned, he grabbed your forearm, pulling you towards him.
You sighed, as your shook your head in annoyance and he scowled. He kept his hand around your forearm forcing you in place." Pay attention." He scolded; he didn't feel like getting into trouble because you didn't want to bother to learn.
You turned your head towards Lo'ak who was already on his ilu ready to ride. You tapped Neteyam's shoulder with the back of your hand and he turned, briefly annoyed.
" Hold here." Tsireya tapped the saddle that had a place in front to grip. Aonung let go of your arm, moving closer to watch better as you and Neteyam stood there watching your brother.
" Let's bet on if he stays on or not." Neteyam whispered to you, and you scrunched your nose, with a devious smile on your face." You're on, I bet he'll fall off immediately." You snickered to him.
" Nah, He'll hold on for a little bit." Neteyam whispered to you, and you bumped his fist with yours." Okay bro, the loser has to do the other's chores for a week."
" Sweet, I'm totally gonna win this then." Neteyam laughed, as you watch Lo'ak begin to set himself up to go. " Look at his legs." You heard one of Aonung's friends snicker and you rolled your eyes. They just couldn't go a day without finding something wrong with your siblings to pick on." Hold on." Another one shouted, and surprisingly Aonung wasn't laughing with them. He seemed serious about his role as teacher.
Lo'ak sucked in a breath before moving at a quick pace into the water. Everyone ducked their heads into the water to watch and Lo'ak actually lasted a decent amount of time before he fell off.
Your ears went back in annoyance as your brother came to the surface for air. Everyone laughed at him, including Neteyam who patted your back." It's ok you lost." He smirked and you rolled your eyes.
The ilu splashed Lo'ak in the face before swimming off, and he let out a huff of frustration." You alright forest boy?" Aonung called out and you crossed your arms as he came over." Nice going, I was rooting for you to fall off immediately." You grimaced and Lo'ak rolled his eyes.
" You have that little faith in me?" You nodded immediately." Of course." You teased and Neteyam laughed, giving Lo'ak a pat." She's just mad she has extra chores now."
" You guys bet on me?" He asked.
" Of course." You and Neteyam said in unison. Aonung came over, shooing Lo'ak away." Go back, you still have training to finish." He told him and Lo'ak rolled his eyes before leaving to go back to Tsireya who began giving him tips on how to get better.
" Okay, Neteyam you're next." Aonung informed and called over another ilu." Okay so if you fall off sooner than Lo'ak did you get your chore duties back." You looked at Neteyam and he shrugged." Okay fine. If I last longer then it's two weeks."
You nodded in agreement, there was no way he was gonna last longer than Lo'ak. He hopped onto it's back, connecting his Neural Queue to the ilu's. " Ready to lose?" He teased you and Aonung rolled his eyes." Go." He demanded and Neteyam went forward.
You watched as he started off slow, then when he went into the water, he continued that speed. You and Aonung squatted to look into the water next to each other, watching his movements. He circled back still on the ilu and you and Aonung came back up as Neteyam breached the water.
You slapped the water in frustration, your face scrunched in annoyance and your ears in airplane mode. Aonung smirked at your reaction, he wouldn't deny the entertainment he got from watching you interact with your brothers.
" Two weeks now." Neteyam his smug smile pissing you off more." Aw upset you lost both bets." He teased, pulling your ear and you let out a sharp and quick hiss of annoyance. Both Aonung and Neteyam snickered at you, and you rolled your eyes.
" Okay your turn." Aonung pointed you towards the ilu which you reluctantly climbed on. " Okay last bet for funsies." Neteyam gave a smug smirk, confident he'd win another week off of chores. You turned to face him." If you last as long as I did and go as fast as Lo'ak started, you'll only have one week of my chores to do."
"Okay, what if i lose?" You asked, squinting at him." Four weeks." You thought for a moment and gave him a smug smirk in return." Fine I will."
Aonung shook his head, going over to your left side where your leg rested up high. You and Lo'ak both rode the ilu like an Ikran which was both of your guy's problem. He grabbed your thigh and forced your leg down.
You let out a squeak of surprise, whipping your head towards him." If you ride it like that, you'll pull a muscle." He warned with that annoying smirk of his on his face. He went to stand next to Neteyam as you shook your head, your ears red in embarrassment.
You hated being corrected, it made you feel like a child." Get going, win those four weeks." Neteyam teased you and you sent a glare over your shoulder as you plunged yourself into the water at a high speed.
You tightened your legs around the ilu and bent forward a bit more, gripping the handle of the saddle for dear life. You managed to stay on until the turn which made you slip your grip a bit. You quickly grabbed it with your other hand, the one you originally had gripping the handle stinging.
You came to a quick halt in front of Aonung and Neteyam with a sly smile." Guess it's just one week." Neteyam sighed a bit annoyed, Aonung was actually impressed by what you just managed to pull off. He wasn't able to achieve that speed like that until almost a week later.
He noticed your other hand a bit red, he immediately thought of wrapping it with his cloth he tried to get you to use on your eye this morning, but he fought against that thought. No way he'd do that in front of his friends and for a brat like you.
He didn't like you, not at all, he hated you.

In which Xiao gets the childhood he deserves. A Grandpa Zhongli and Xiao adventure.
Tumblr media
Out of all the seasons, Xiao loves summer the best. Not only does he get to stay up an hour later than usual, he gets to do things he normally couldn’t the rest of the year. For example, during summer, Xiao gets to sleep in as late as 10 in morning. He can go to the beach and eat ice cream and build sandcastles without worrying about homework. He can watch TV and play outside for as long as he likes, as long as he gets inside the house by twilight. Most importantly, he gets to stay in Grandpa's house for a whole month.
Xiao's Grandpa is Zhongli. Zhongli is the Geo Archon. That means Xiao's Grandpa is the coolest, most awesome being to ever walk the planet. And Xiao gets to spend thirty (30) days with him. Just him and his Grandpa.
No one else in all of Liyue gets to experience that.
Tumblr media
Xiao has spent a total of two days in his Grandpa’s house when he receives his first mission as a Guardian Yaksha.
The mission? Make a new friend. Location: The children’s park.
Xiao’s not gonna lie. He did not expect such a daunting task for his first ever mission. However, if there is one thing that Xiao has learned in his eight years of life, it’s that adepti assignments are to be accepted and seen to completion, whether they are given in Rex Lapis’ office or at the breakfast table over a plate of brown rice and grilled fish.
Which is how Xiao finds himself in the park two hours later, clutching his Grandpa’s slacks like his life depended on it.
Don’t misunderstand, though. Xiao is a brave boy. But sometimes, even brave boys get scared too. He’d much rather stay beside his Grandpa, where he can cling to his leg and be safe from the curious glances of the strange mortals in the sandbox.
“Don’t forget your weapon.”
Ah, yes, his weapon. Xiao wanted to bring one of his Grandpa’s many polearms, but Zhongli told him that the Primordial Jade Winged Spear is simply too long, too heavy, and too sharp for eight-year old boys to carry, even if they were adepti. So, he gave Xiao a jumbo bubble wand instead.
“Go on,” Zhongli tells him once Xiao finally let go of his leg. "Remember the plan."
Right, the plan. Xiao racks his brain for the battle strategy he made with Rex Lapis himself on their way here. Look for your target, wait for an opening, and when you’re ready, engage.
And so, Xiao does exactly that. Tightening his hold on the bubble wand, he takes a step forward and scans his surroundings. There, by the swings, stood two blonde kids around his age, blowing bubbles with their own soapy weapons. Target sighted.
Now for the rest of the plan.
Xiao turns to Zhongli. "Don't leave, okay?"
His Grandpa smiles and pats his head. "I'll be at the bench if you need me."
Xiao nods and walks ahead. Well, here goes nothing.
.
.
.
Ninety minutes later, Xiao goes home with two brand new friends, a play date plan for next week, and a gold coin for a job well done on his first ever mission as one of Liyue's Guardian Yaksha.
Tumblr media
As Geo Archon and oldest of The Seven, it is only expected that Xiao’s Grandpa would keep a lot of treasures in his house. And, well, Xiao’s not claiming to be a treasure expert, but you know what they say.
Where there’s treasure, there’s a guardian.
That’s where Azhdy comes in.
Of all the odd things in the Geo Archon’s house, the most peculiar one is Zhongli’s pet, Azhdaha.
Xiao is not sure exactly what kind of animal Azhdaha is. His Grandpa says Azhdy is a dragon, but he looks more like a dog to Xiao. Either way, Xiao thinks Azhdy is the coolest, most awesome pet ever. (Even if his name is a little hard to spell).
Some people think Azhdy is scary, but really, he’s just a clumsy creature who’s a little too spiky and excitable. It’s true! Azhdy has funny eyes that look in opposite directions. He can’t see very well, and that’s why he always bumps into walls or people. But that’s okay, because it doesn't matter where Xiao is in the house—when Xiao says, "Azhdy, come here", the sound of heavy paws on hardwood floor will reverberate in the whole house, becoming louder and louder the closer he gets.
The sight of Azhdy running towards him never fails to make Xiao smile. Which is why he doesn’t understand why most people look just about ready to call the Millelith whenever Azhdy pounces on his little body to give him wet dog kisses.
Tumblr media
There are days that hold a special place in Xiao's heart. For him, that day is Thursday. It's not because of any particular event or tradition. No, it's because Thursdays mean one thing: spending the most time with his super-duper amazing Grandpa.
For some reason, Thursdays seem to be the day when Zhongli spends the most time at home, away from his duties as the Geo Archon. And for Xiao, that means having his Grandpa all to himself for the day.
As the evening draws near on Thursdays, Xiao eagerly awaits the highlight of his day: bedtime. Not because it means the end of the day, but because it's the time when Zhongli sits by his bedside, tucking him in with gentle hands, a warm smile, and a pat on the head. Sometimes, Azhdy joins them too.
In those quiet moments, the world outside fades away, and it's just Xiao and Zhongli, and sometimes, Azhdy. While Zhongli spins tales of dragons, warriors, and dumplings, Xiao finds out very quickly that the crinkling of old book pages and Zhongli’s smooth baritone are much more effective sleep aides than the bedtime story itself.
Xiao never knows when he dozes off, if his Grandpa ever finishes his story before he starts dreaming. But every time, he wakes up with Zhongli and Azhdaha gone, replaced by the comforting scent of tea and breakfast in the air. It feels like a warm embrace, like he's loved and safe with Zhongli and Azhdy nearby.
Those Thursday nights (and Friday mornings) are the best.
Tumblr media
The big building on Wangshu Street, Xiao learns, is called Wangshu Inn. Inn spelled with two (2) Ns. It means hotel, Grandpa Zhongli tells him one day.
Sometimes, when Xiao has been exceptionally good and Grandpa Zhongli feels particularly nice, they go to Wangshu Inn for a bowl of almond tofu. Xiao loves almond tofu, especially the almond tofu from Wangshu Inn.
How Xiao came to like the sweet treat is actually a funny story.
When Xiao was five, he got lost. It was Lantern Rite and he and his Grandpa were out and about on one of their holiday afternoon walks. Captivated by the vibrant sights and sounds around him, Xiao had wandered off and couldn't find his way back to where his Grandpa was.
Of course, being an adeptus, Xiao hadn't been scared. (He was terrified.) Like a brave and dependable Guardian Yaksha, he took it upon himself to look for the correct way home. (Xiao wandered aimlessly, tears welling up in his eyes.) And just as the day began to turn into night, a calming presence had enveloped him. It was Zhongli, his Grandpa!
He had found him amidst the crowd.
Xiao remembers his Grandpa picking him up from under his arms and rubbing his back to soothe him. Then, he brought them both to Wangshu Inn where they shared a bowl of almond tofu.
"You're okay now," his Grandpa had said. Xiao doesn't remember being not okay, so his Grandpa must have been talking to himself. He must've been super scared when he turned and found Xiao missing! He guesses even cool, strong, Geo Archons like his Grandpa get scared too sometimes. (So, maybe it's okay to say that he felt a little bit scared too when he couldn't see Zhongli anymore back in the harbour.)
Xiao doesn’t remember much of that day, but he does feel a surge of warmth and comfort with every spoonful of the soft sweet treat.
Tumblr media
In the neighborhood where his Grandpa lives, there's a girl named Hu Tao. She's a bundle of energy, always running around with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Hu Tao is Xiao's... not-friend friend, but whenever they meet, she's full of jokes and stories she's read from whatever book she was devouring that week.
She's smart, just like Grandpa Zhongli. She reads those big heavy books he sometimes sees his Grandpa read on quiet afternoons at the den. She says big, hard to say words, like quick sonic (quixotic) and disk consulate (disconsolate). Sometimes, she recites poems with rhymes and more words Xiao doesn't quite understand. It's okay, though, because when she does, she smiles, and when she smiles, Xiao smiles too.
Hu Tao has a pet bunny named Boo Tao. Boo Tao is a fluffy little creature, but too small to play with Azhdaha, so they settle for sitting together in the grass, sniffing flowers and watching the world go by.
Xiao thinks Hu Tao is pretty. He's not quite sure what "pretty" here means, but whenever she laughs, it feels like sunshine breaking through the clouds.
Tumblr media
Sometimes, when the sky is gloomy, Grandpa Zhongli takes Xiao to the cemetery.
Xiao’s only seen pictures of Granny Guizhong but with all the stories that Grandpa has told Xiao about her, it’s as if he’s met her too.
He makes sure to water the Qinxin flowers Grandpa keeps on Granny's grave. He'll take care of the flowers so Granny does not get sad.
Next time, he'll add Glaze Lilies too.
Tumblr media
Amidst the hustle and bustle, Xiao's hand finds Zhongli's, his small fingers entwining with his grandpa's sturdy grip. His Grandpa smiles down at him, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Shall we see what the harbor has in store for us today, Xiao?"
Xiao nods. He'd be a dummy to say no to Rex Lapis. With a gentle lift, his Grandpa scoops Xiao up into his arms, granting him a bird's-eye view of the lively street below. From this vantage point, Xiao marvels at the vibrant tapestry unfolding before him—the dancers twirling in graceful arcs, the acrobats defying gravity with breathtaking stunts, and the musicians serenading passersby with their melodious tunes.
He thinks he can see Hu Tao and the twins there too.
Tumblr media
As the end of summer draws near, the yard of Grandpa's house becomes a haven for crystalflies. Amidst the delicate dance of these enchanted creatures, Xiao clings tightly to Zhongli, his small form nestled in the safety of his Grandpa's embrace.
With each passing moment, the inevitability of parting weighs heavy on Xiao's heart. As his parents arrive to take him home, Xiao buries his face in the crook of Zhongli’s neck, unwilling to let go of the warmth and comfort he finds there. The air is filled with the soft whispers of crystalflies bidding farewell to the departing summer, echoing the bittersweet emotions swirling within Xiao's heart.
Tumblr media
Summer has passed, and before Xiao knows it, it's summer again. Out of all the seasons, Xiao loves summer the best. Not only does he get to stay up an hour later than usual, he gets to do things he normally couldn’t the rest of the year. For example, during summer, Xiao can go out on walks with Azhdy while the citizens of Liyue look on with amazement at his very big, very cute pet. He can sit by the park and see if a girl with long pigtails and pretty eyes happens to pass by. Most importantly, he gets to stay in Grandpa's house for a whole month.
Xiao's Grandpa is Zhongli. Zhongli is the Geo Archon. And Xiao's most favorite thing in the whole entire world is him.

Sick Surprise pt. 8 — Dad
In which…
Warnings: fluff, angst, crying, cursing, lmk if I missed anything!!
Spencer Reid x fem!reader
Tumblr media
“Mommy, why don’ I got a dad?”
Y/N froze in her place. She was in the middle of making breakfast for Eloise before she had to leave for Daycare and work. “What?” She asked slowly, turning around.
Eloise swayed from side to side. “All my fwiends got daddies an’ I don’t.”
Y/N pursed her lips and kneeled down to her height, pushing a few strands of hair out of her face. “Baby…” She was trying to think of the words she needed to say so it made sense. “Your dad… he didn’t want us.” She nodded sadly. “So he went bye bye.” Eloise furrowed her little eyebrows. “A daddy is someone who is around for his baby. He loves his baby, he loves baby’s mommy.” She nodded. “And he protects his baby. No matter what.”
“Protet? What is protet?” She asked.
The mother smiled and looked into her baby girl’s eyes. “Protect means that a dad would do anything in his power to keep his baby safe.”
Y/N expected Eloise to look sad but instead she smiled and touched her mom’s nose. “Is Spenther m’new dad?”
The woman gasped quietly and didn’t have the heart to tell those hopeful little eyes no. She wished it was Spencer she’d met in college instead of Jake. Honestly, she’d forgotten that she ever had been alone before Spencer. He had been on a case all week so they hadn’t seen him.
“We gotta go to daycare. Go get you sippy, babe.” Y/N kissed her cheek twice and stood up. Eloise’s feet pattered away and she walked into the kitchen to finish packing Eloise’s snack box.
She put it in her diaper bag and slung it over her shoulder, sighing.
God, she wished Spencer was really Eloise’s dad.

Y/N was swamped at work.
It was almost nearing the end of her day when she left to het Eloise from daycare but she still had things to do that if she didn’t het done, she would be fired.
But her and Spencer’s minds had to have been connected because her phone screen lit up with his name. She smiled and picked it up. “Spence! Hi. I love you so much.” She spoke quickly.
He chuckled. “Hi, baby. I love you too!”
Y/N hummed. “How’s the case going?” She asked.
“Oh, we caught him early this morning. I’m actually driving into town now.” She heard the sound of the car on the road in the background.
Y/N smiled and her eyes lit up. “Oh my god! That’s great! Hey, I was wondering if you’d pick Eloisey up from daycare today. I’m gonna be here late. Maybe stop and get something to eat?”
“Yeah, of course! But I’m gonna make my hard working girlfriend a home cooked meal instead of fast food.”
Y/N sighed in relief. “Oh my gosh, thank you baby. I’ll text Jessica and tell her that you’re picking her up instead of me. Make sure you have your ID because they ask for that if it’s someone new.”
“Okay. I love you, see you when you get home.”
Home.
She heated up. “I love you too. See you when I get home.”
.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.
Spencer bit his lip as he pulled into the pick up line at the daycare center. A bunch of the kids were already lined up. It was a cloudy day out, not too long until it would probably rain.
He tried to look for Eloise but the woman who was waving people forward waved her hand at him through the windshield. He pulled forward slowly and stopped, rolling down his window.
“Good afternoon!” She smiled at him. “Uh… who are you here for?”
Spencer smiled kindly at her. “Hi, I’m Spencer Reid. Here to pick up Eloise. I have my ID if you need-“
“I’m sorry, Eloise?” The woman shook her head and leaned closer to him as if she didn’t hear him right.
Spencer nodded. “Yes. Eloise L/N?” His eyebrows furrowed and he glanced at the line of kids. He didn’t see Eloise.
“I’m sorry— a Spencer Reid came by just a few minutes ago. He took Eloise home to Y/N.” The woman’s face got bright red.
Spencer put the car in park and got out of the car quickly. “No. No, no.” He shook his head and fished his wallet out of his pocket. He shakily took out his ID and practically shoved it in her face.
“I— I oh my god.” She pressed her hands to the sides of her heads. “Oh no no no.”
Spencer’s chest felt tight. His eyesight was blurry. “You let a four year old get in a car with— what the hell!? You let a kid get in a car with a stranger!?”
The woman bit her lip. “Y-Y/N texted me and said a Spencer Reid was picking her up! And the man that took her said he was you! He even had an ID! I-I—”
“Did she look like she knew him!?” Spencer asked. He decided he’d try to call Y/N. “Call the fucking police, please!”
He clicked on Y/N’s contact and lifted the phone to his ear. “Please pick up.” It rang six times before her voicemail was heard. “Shit!”
He tried her again. Voicemail.
“Yes! Her name is Eloise L/N, she was wearing black leggings a-and a blue sweater— her hair!? I don’t know what color her hair is!”
Spencer took the phone from her and gave the operator all of her information. She had the same hair color as Y/N. The same eye color, the same skin color. Everything.
Spencer panicked, handing the phone back to the lady. He tried Y/N again. Voicemail. “Oh, god. Oh, no no no.” His eyes stung with tears as he paced the concrete.
The other woman who was outside helping with picking was rushing kids to their cars because she knew what was happening.
Spencer called and texted and called and texted but he was yet to get one back. “Come on, Y/N. Please pick up.” He mumbled, trying to keep the tears from falling.
“Th-they said they were on the way and to stay here.” The woman cried. “How could I be such an idiot!?”
Spencer’s chest heaved. “Fuck, Y/N, pick up!”
He called again and this time she picked up. “Hey, Spence! Are they giving you trouble at the—“
“Y/N, I need you to listen to me and I n- I need you to stay calm.” He spoke lowly.
“Spencer? What’s wrong, you’re scaring me.” Her bubbly tone had disappeared.
Spencer took a deep breath in. This would be the hardest thing he’d ever have to say to her. “Y/N, Eloise— Eloise has been— She’s been taken.”
.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.
It was silent for a moment. She was trying to figure out she actually heard the words that came out of his mouth right.
“Y/N? Did you hear me?” Spencer asked.
Her ears were ringing. “No…” She shook her head. “No, Spencer. Tell me your fucking with me right now.”
“Y/N—“
“Tell me you’re fucking lying, Spencer.”
She heard a sigh on the other end. “Y/N, I’m sorry but I need you to leave work and I need you to come here.”
It felt like she blacked out by the time she was in her car. She didn’t remember how she got there but all she knew was that she was speeding in the direction of Eloise’s daycare. She was still on the phone with Spencer but wasn’t saying a word even though he was calling out her name.
“Y/N, Can you talk to me? I need to know that you’re focused so you don’t crash.”
Her chest was heaving as she tried to keep the tears from forming in her eyes. “I’m not gonna crash. I’m trying to stay— as calm as I can.” She spoke. She never blinked. “Fuck, Spencer. Why am I not freaking out right now?” She asked, her knee bouncing up and down.
“Because you know that if you were, your car would flip over.”
Y/N nodded, letting air blow from her lips. She shook her head and tried to calm her rapid beating heart but she couldn’t. “I feel like— like I can’t breathe— my baby is gone. M- fuck, my baby is gone.” Her words broke as did her voice.
“Y/N keep it together.” He spoke. “You can fall apart as soon as you step out of that car but I need you to stay calm until you get here.”
Her breath shook. “I don’t know if I can. I just k- keep imagining my Eloisey scared a-and crying and—“
“Don’t focus on that, Y/N. How far away are you?”
She looked at the street signs that flew by in a blur. “T-two minutes.” She spoke.
“That’s good. Focus on those two minutes, Y/N.”
.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.
Spencer saw her car speeding down the street and his head was in his throat. She skidded into the rounded drive through and the car stopped. Police sirens weren’t far behind.
Y/N flew out of the driver’s side door a half a second later and she nearly tripped trying to get to him.
She saw Jessica, the woman who knew Spencer was coming to pick her daughter up and instead of walking to him, she pushed Pat him and stepped right up to the sobbing woman.
“Are you fucking stupid!?” She screamed. Spencer shouted his girlfriend’s name and rushed up behind her, grabbing her arms. “I should— let me go! This stupid bitch let my kid leave with a fucking stranger!”
Spencer tugged her into his chest and wrapped his arms tightly around her. The woman’s chest began to stutter as she took short breaths. “My b-aby is gone— oh my god, Eloise is— gone.” She let the tears fall and Spencer held her.
The police sirens stopped and they heard footsteps walking towards them.
.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.
Y/N’s leg bounced up and down rapidly. She sat in one of the kiddie chairs inside the daycare staring at the toys strewn about the place. She had been left alone while Spencer and Jessica spoke to the police officers.
Her lips had been torn to shreds, thinking of her poor baby sitting in a dark corner somewhere calling for her. They had sent out an amber alert for her but Y/N’s body still ached with worry. Her head was pounding, ears ringing— she couldn’t think straight.
Her entire life had revolved around Eloise and now, she could be gone forever.
She picked up a stuffed parrot and rubbed it’s soft beak. Eloise loved birds. Anywhere she was she’d point one out. Her first word was “birdie”.
“Y/N?” Spencer’s voice snapped her out of her memories as she looked up at him. There was an officer that stood next to him. “This is Officer White. He wants to ask you a few questions.”
The mother scoffed and shook her head. “I already know who did this.” She spoke lowly.
“Ma’am?” The officer furrowed his brows.
“It was her father. It was Jake Kelly. It has to be.”

Filmmaking analysis time!
How blocking and the use of rope and lighting shows the diverting threads of Stede's and Ed's paths in 2x7.
Rope Symbolism
Thread/rope/twine are used throughout this episode to symbolize the reeling in of Ed to the "normal life." My meta analysis of that can be viewed here. Or summarized in the below paragraph.
Something about the twine/rope spread throughout 2x7. First we see Ed use it to wrap up his leathers and dump it in the ocean. Next he cuts up two pieces of twine to add as flourish on the breakfast tray. And then while he's watching the fisherpeople, the camera focuses on the fish being extracted from the sting. And finally, while Ed and Stede talk, Ed tells him that he's leaving to become a fisherman, a large rope is in front of them the whole conversation. The twine symbolizing being reeled into the "normal" life: the dumping of his Blackbeard persona, the domesticity of breakfast in bed with his boyfriend, the fish caught up in the string being freed. But then the giant rope symbolizing the unraveling of the relationship with Stede and piracy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blocking
Keeping this thought in mind, let's now look at the position of Stede's and particularly Ed's body during the conversation.
At the start of the conversation, rope is shown on the left side of Ed, away from Stede. Ed is standing at the top of the platform, facing sideways and playing with the greenery. Stede is below, excited about his day, and he runs up the platform to be even with Ed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ed moves over and stands in front of the post, first facing away from Stede completely then turning to face forward with his head down, not looking at Stede. When Ed states, "I'm happy for you, I really am" he is physically walking away from Stede, not looking, showing with his body the exact opposite of his words.
Tumblr media
When he comes to rest, his hands are on either side of the post, the rope is in front of him, one going towards Stede and one away, representing the two diverging paths Ed can choose right now.
Ed then leans forward on the railing, bringing his body in close, like he's covering himself in that metaphorical blanket he uses when he's being vulnerable. But Stede also leans on the railing, leaning toward Ed, matching his body language and keeping close to let him know he is there but not touching, not crossing that boundary without consent.
Tumblr media
Stede then offers an olive branch. "Well, you know this can be whatever we want it to be." And the men continue facing forward but their heads are turned and are looking at each other as they speak.
The shot is tight, not showing the rope right now, instead it is an intimate moment and mainly faces are shown. We see all of Stede's head and shoulders when he speaks, showing that he is all in, he will take anything as long as Ed is by him. Breathing the same air. The top of Ed's head is cut off, which is a running theme and camerawork throughout this season to show the mental turmoil that Ed is going through.
They stand up straight again when Ed announces he's leaving - no longer on the same side and in defense mode. And the fight starts to escalate. They turn toward each other the first time and Ed even leans forward, taking a half step as he gestures and talks about catching the fish and being a fisherman now.
Tumblr media
Ed starts to walk away once Stede says "the fish was whatever." Ed moves away from the pillar, the two diverging ropes and toward the one that leads away from Stede. He has made up his mind which thread he is going to follow. And the camera chooses to focus on Ed in the foreground because this is his decision, his choice, and Stede is blurry like the confused state of bundled ropes at this quick turn of events.
Tumblr media
Stede stops at the top of the stairs where all of the rope is wrapped around the pillar in an organized mess. His path ends here, in this tangled mess of emotions, confused and weighed down by the heaviness of piracy and the past hours? Days? Where things have turned, his own thread that he has been following.
Ed no longer has that weight dragging him under. The twine reeling him to the normal life has triumphed as he cuts ties with the Blackbeard persona, the pirate life, and now Stede.
Lighting/Cinematography/Camerawork
The lighting in this scene (since Ned Low crashes the party in 2x6 has mostly been off.
You can literally see the light change from the warm glows of red and purple to the green tint in the above clip. As talked about in my analysis of cinematography used in 2x6 and 2x7 to show Stede's and Ed's emotional journey, green lighting/undertones are used to show the audience that something is off. This color grading is an abrupt departure from the usual coloring of the show and that is done on purpose here.
The sky is grey, muted, hints of that same green undertones faintly there, because this is reality hitting them in the face. This isn't the bright reds and purples of their love, the golden hues of them being each other's lighthouses, this is the cold grey of reality crashing down around them, a setting sun in this part of their relationship. Their body language is aggressive, scowls, raised voices, insults, and pointed fingers taking over from the dreamlike quality of a mermaid and ocean in bed together.
Tumblr media
Lens flairs are often done from dramatic effect (unless you're JJ Abrams and they are just your style.) Most of the time, films are shot to avoid them, so when you see them your eye is drawn to it. And a very large one is purposely used in this scene. It is situated right between Ed and Stede and extends into the rope below while Ed is telling him that he wanted to take it slow. It punctuates his point, like a dawning of realization of the truth to the audience and Stede. This is the first time Stede is hearing about this and it hits hard.
Tumblr media
The camera angle changes to just Ed when the truth comes out because this is his truth he needs to tell. Stede is not muddying the shot but instead where his shoulder or arm would be is the pillar with the tangle of ropes, showing both the knots Stede's stomach is tying itself into as well as how this speech is the thread leading to Stede.
(I would show a picture here but I can only attach 10, so imagine it!)
They are also dressed in opposite colors as when they first met. Then Stede was in light and Ed in his all black Blackbeard leathers. Now Ed is the one wearing light greys and Stede in is black and dark blue, carrying a sword. Their roles have switched.
Overall, all aspects of production come together, from the cinematography, clothing, props, blocking, etc to show just how off this scene is, how unsettling reality can be. And how we have different threads of paths we can take in our lives if only we are brave enough to grab hold of the right one.
While Stede at first heads up to Ed at the beginning of the scene, tries to save the situation, he's on one side of this thread. Ed straddles the cords and ultimately decides to break free of the thread that was leading him away from his beacon of light. He heads down and away from Stede, and descends onto a path by himself, and just like the fish he saw extracted from the twine earlier that day, just like the twine he placed on the tray in his panic, there are no threads left to keep him anchored.

You heard the sound of the foghorn that morning loud and obnoxious, with you nestled in your quilts clinging to sleep. Luna laid at your feet, stretching as she heard the noise. It meant breakfast. She licked her lips.
You yawned, glaring at the window bleary. And you were having such a nice dream. “Alright, I’m getting up,” you grumbled, standing up and peeking outside. It was gloomy and overcast, it looked like a storm on the horizon; your favorite weather. You saw him moving down to the dock, and your heart fluttered as he looked up at you. He wore that maroon sweater that fit him nicely. Too nice.
You hurried to the basin of water on your dresser, wetting your face, and washing up, and brushing your teeth.
You couldn’t help but feel a flutter of impatient anticipation in your stomach, as you dried your face.
Luna meowed. “Oh, I know. You’re just wasting away, aren’t you?” You asked, poking her plump belly.
She looked away, and you laughed, standing back up.
Your fingers braided your hair quickly while Luna howled at your feet, almost tripping you as you moved to pull a dress over your head.
She was hungry and she was going to let you know.
And then again down the stairs, and sometimes you wondered if she really was trying to kill you.
“You kill me, who’s gonna get the fish from the handsome captain, huh?” Luna looked to say she could just steal some.
You shook your head, and slipped your shoes on, grabbing a bit of the sourdough you’d baked the night before, and turned to Luna. “I’ll be back with some fish, hungry girl.” You said, stroking her head, hearing her purr.
The pathway to the docks was wet and slippery as you passed the pub. But it was morning so it was quiet. “Hey, pretty lady. Got anythin’ fer me?” He had a pipe hanging out of his mouth, eyes crinkling at the corners. His hair was silver, and it looked like he never brushed it. He wore threadbare pants and a shirt.
He always made you realize you were blessed.
You smiled brightly, “Always do, George.” You said, handing him some bread from your basket.
His eyes lit up, and your heart ached. He probably hadn’t eaten much lately.
He puffed on his pipe, smoke curling around him as thunder rumbled in the distance, taking your bread. “Best hurry, girl. A storms a brewin’.”
You scurried away, down to the docks, spotting him pulling up the nets. “Hi, Billy.” You said sweetly, and then slid on the wet docks, flying forward with a gasp, nearly wiping out.
“Careful, buttercup.” He husked, voice low and warm. Like whiskey, it was a slow burn that lit you up from the inside. He steadied you, calloused hands warm and rough on your skin, he had his sleeves rolled up around his forearms.
You kissed the corner of his mouth, his trimmed beard tickling your skin. “I always am, Billy,” you said softly.
His lips curved upwards, “Like when you flew off that cliff because you slipped on some moss?” He teased you, fingers tangling in your hair, almost pulling the braid out.
“I was cliff diving!” You defended hotly, cheeks warming.
Billy laughed, “Sure, and you didn’t challenge a sailor to a drinking match in the pub, and I had to carry you home afterwards.”
“He was stupid, and I won, no matter how drunk I was.” you said, stubbornly. “He thought because I’m a woman I can’t hold my liquor.”
“You threw up on me, buttercup.” Billy said, tugging on your hair roughly, as rain began misting the two of you.
“Billy,” you whined, pulling on his belt. “You’re mean. I’d throw up on you again.”
He tweaked your nose playfully, “Want some fish for Luna?” He asked, moving a little closer, looking at you through hooded eyes.
“Please,” you said, softly.
Billy hummed, “You know I like when you beg.” He teased, fingers grabbing the back of your neck, kissing you, making your heart stutter.
But you shivered in the rain, your dress dampening.
He pulled back, and turned, giving you some fish in a basket, and you traded your basket of sourdough bread to him.
He grinned, “I can have tomato sandwiches now. Thank you, buttercup. Tell Luna I said hi.” He paused, before stealing another kiss.
You were breathless when he pulled away, and you were very careful not to slip and lose yourself to the waves as you walked along the dock.
You’d already lost your heart to a certain captain.

Hi, could I request a la squadra x child reader were the reader, like, was kinda scared to living with them and as time went on and reader got used to having them as their family and ends up calling the big brother/dad for the first time?
I decided to include ice cream boys bc why not
La Squadra x Child!Reader calling them dad/big bro for the first time
Tumblr media
None of you expected to be found in such situation. Life is weird indeed, so here you are, living with nine assassins. Not quite a thing that you expected as a first grader. Honestly, at first you thought they will kill you, you weren’t sure why though. What would a child do to the men in their thirties?
Time passed, but you weren’t killed. Did that make you less cautious around them? Absolutely not! You were taught not to trust strangers, especially if these strangers are killing people for a living. You even thought to run away a few times, but what can you do being a six year old? You definitely won’t survive on the street on your own. So after a little thought you decided to stay, not that you had other options.
La Squadra on the other hand, kept their distance at first. Of course, life didn’t prepare them to be babysitters, but they had no other choice. Therefore that’s why they gave you a separate room and let you be, for now of course. Eventually, you’ll need to find a common ground. Slowly, but surely they began to approach you. Formaggio let you play with his cats whenever you wanted, Prosciutto drove you to school every day, etc. It turns out, they’re not that bad as they seemed.
After a few month you completely stopped being afraid of them. They began to be a real family to you, the one you never had. They would never raise their voice to you, even Ghiaccio, he’s really gentle around you. You can always tell them what’s on your mind, they’ll never judge you. And if you don’t like going to school- you always can be homeschooled by Melone. He’s an awesome teacher so don’t worry, your comfort is their priority.
Time passed and one morning it was just you and Risotto. The others were on missions and they definitely wouldn’t be back until evening. For now, you two just had a delicious breakfast, honestly, you would never thought that Risotto cooks that good.
“Hey dad, can you pass me the salt?”, you asked not even realising your question.
His eyes seemed to light up for a second, he cleared his throat “Sure, here you go”.
Actually he’s so proud about it. He won’t show any unnecessary emoting but god he’s happy. Surely he’ll tell others. Secretly he wants them to be jealous, he’s the first one you referred as “dad” after all. Looking forward to be called like that again!
And one time you and Prosciutto went for groceries, he even promised to buy you what you wanted. Pros went straight to the sections with veggies while you were looking for something you wanted. Finally, you found what you needed! Wasting no time you were already heading to the blond man.
“Hey dad”, you called “Can I have this?”
Prosciutto was too stunned to speak for a moment. He just smiled and patted your head.
“Call me like that again and I’ll buy anything you want”
He won’t tell anyone about it. It’s his happy moment and he has no intentions to share it. Will do anything to hear you call him dad again. He would never thought something small like this will make him so happy.
You and Melone like to read books together. He’s trying to share his love to science with you, nothing creepy of course. Melone always lets you choose whatever theme you want to read about today. And if you have anything you want to ask him, he’ll always be enlighten to answer.
“Hey dad, how fish breathe underwater?”
Melone looked at you in pure shock, immediately taking you in his arms “Can you say that again?”
Oh yes, he would tell everyone! He won’t shut up about that for months. Now he wants to spend even more time with you, just to hear you call him dad. He just loves his baby so much.
Fishing with Pesci is always fun! He would tell you about his and aniki’s adventures, and surely how cool Pros is. You would never thought that you can catch a real fish, but with Pesci’s help it became possible.
“You’re doing such a great job!”, Pesci praised you.
“Thank you, big bro.. Pesci why are you crying?”
Oh yes, he’ll cry. But don’t you worry, these are tears of happiness. Immediately brag to Pros. He’s crying every time you call him like that, Pesci just cannot hide his emotions, not that you want him to.
You like to spend time with Illuso, he styles your hair and tells you all the tea. He’s nice, but don’t tell others!
“So, how do you like your new hairstyle?”, Illuso grinned.
“It’s so cool, you’re amazing dad!”
You just bursted Illuso’s ego to the sky. You.. call him amazing.. and dad. For now will try to impress you even further. He just love to hear praises. And for him your praises are the most valuable.
You and Formaggio are buddies. He always makes you laugh. By this time you two even have some inside jokes.
“Hahah, this one is especially funny dad”
“Dad who”
Congratulations, now he’s trying to make you laugh every time.
You weren’t as close with Ghiaccio as you are now, so you make sure to show him your appreciation because you love him. He may look cold, but he also loves you dearly.
“I love you dad”
“I love you too”
Tries to play it cool. But let’s be honest, now he will think about it for a few weeks. Damn, he needs to express his love to you more.
Sorbet and Gelato consider you as their own flesh and blood. You’re their small and adorable child, they won’t take any excuses. The couple tries to spend as much time with you as they can. And if they’re busy with a mission, they make it up to you by buying something nice.
“We bought you that console you wanted”, Sorbet smiled to you.
“Aren’t you happy?”, Gelato asked.
“I’m so happy, thank you dad and papa!”
Gelato is so hyped up about this whole situation. Everyone will know. For now he’s glued to you, waiting you to call him papa again. Sorbet is not that good with emotions as his husband, but every time you call him dad it brings him joy!

Today was a Bad Day (Sanji/Zoro WIP)
A/N: Here's a sneak peek to a Sanji/Zoro one shot I'm working on! It'll be done sometime this week.
CW: Mild angst and references to PTSD
Summary: Even after Whole Cake Island and finally scorning his Vinsmoke name, Sanji still has bad days. Today was one of them. Unluckily, Zoro appears at the worst moment.
Most days were good days. Today was a good day. Sanji slept all night, not being woken up by Usopp’s snores and Luffy didn’t sneak into his bed. He didn’t have any nightmares, which was rare. Breakfast was especially delicious, the fish grilled perfectly and the mangos gathered from a deserted island made a sauce that was both tangy and sweet, neither flavor overwhelming the other. Nami was as stunning as always, and Robin was just as beautiful. Even the weather was good as if God wanted Sanji to have a perfect day. He deserved it too, Sanji selfishly thought. After so many endless terrible days, he thought one or two good ones wouldn’t hurt.
But maybe it was because today was such a good day that when things became bad, it really became bad. It was like dropping straight from heaven to hell. One minute, everything was amazing, then the next, nothing was okay. There was no particular reason either. Most of the time, Sanji could point out the moment his mood shifts. Sometimes he would be in a dark room that felt a little bit too close to a prison, or maybe he would see a man that looked like Judge. But there was nothing like that today.
Sanji was preparing dinner in the kitchen, a cigarette sitting in his mouth, excited about Nami and Robin’s reactions to his new creation of fried octopus soaked in mango and tangerine juice when an avalanche hit him. Everything turned dark and suffocating. His body went cold, but sweat swelled on his hands. He couldn’t move, the knife hovering over a tentacle, as if time stopped. Any happy thought smothered away, allowing all those memories to rise and swell until they filled his body to the brim, searching for a way to burst out.
Most days were good days. Today wasn’t a good day.
Because Sanji was the crew’s chef, and because didn’t want anyone to know that he was one bad moment away from breaking down, he finished the meal, told the crew it was ready, and then made a probable excuse to hide himself away in the men’s quarters. He didn’t want to be alone, especially not in a small, cramped room, dimly lit by overhanging lights. It was far too close to the prison he grew up in. Even the horizontal wooden boards on the wall were starting to look like metal bars, and the ocean smell seeping in could’ve been mistaken for damp stone. But it was better than the alternative: the crew being burdened by him.
Sanji sat on the sofa, head in hands, fingers running through his hair. He bit his lip and tried to calm himself down. He took deep breaths, pushing the memories further into the back of his mind, but that only seemed to make him sink further into the darkness. Soon, he was left alone with no light, and nothing but the memories of when he was a kid. Those days in that prison, forced to wear that itchy, cold mask stretched endlessly across his eyes. They consumed any other memory. His mom, those times Reiju would visit him, Zeff, and the crew: all of it was toppled by years of sitting on cold, hard stone.
The door creaked open and a sliver of light rushed into the dim room, making it seem much more alive. “Oh, it’s you,” Zoro said. He stood in the doorway, his strong silhouette outlined by the light, the green of his coat like the leaves of a ginkgo tree.
Sanji glanced up, irritation growing in him. A bad day could only become even worse with such an annoying presence.
“What’s that mean?” Sanji said, trying to pretend as if everything was normal and that he wasn’t being drowned by his past.
Zoro took a step forward, his boot heavy against the wood. “Nothing.”
“What are you doing here?” Sanji wanted Zoro to leave, and fast. Zoro would only mock him for still not getting over his past even though it had been years.  He would make fun of Sanji’s weakness.
“It’s the men’s quarters, not Sanji’s quarters, last I checked.” Zoro walked to his locker and dug through it, pulling out a bottle of sake.
“Why aren’t you at dinner?” Sanji could feel irritation build up in him. There was no reason for it, but it still grew nonetheless, only worsened by Zoro’s presence.
“I wasn’t that hungry.”
“So you just left your food to waste?” Everything was suffocating again, and Sanji couldn’t breathe. He inhaled, felt the oxygen rush up his nose and inflate his lungs, then just as quickly deflate as carbon dioxide rushed out, but he wasn’t breathing.
Zoro glanced at him. “Don’t worry, I gave my portion to Luffy.”
“That’s not the point!” Sanji jumped to his feet. “Do you know how many people would’ve killed for a meal like that, and you just left it!”
It hurt. It so fucking much that Sanji didn’t know what else to do but yell and hope his pain would be carried out by his voice.
“Relax,” Zoro said, though his voice was oddly quiet.
“Don’t you dare fucking tell me to relax! I—” Sanji’s voice choked as tears burned his eyes. He turned around, hoping Zoro didn’t see, trying his best to keep them from bursting out.
“What’s wrong with you today?” Sanji didn’t respond. He closed his eyes, hoping they’d seal away his tears forever, and he hoped that if he closed them hard enough, those memories would, too, forever be locked away. But when he opened them, tears fell down his face and those memories became all he could think of.
“Didn’t you hear what I—Shit, are… are you crying?” Zoro walked in front of Sanji, staring at him with a face that Sanji had never seen before. He looked almost concerned.
Sanji wiped his face and looked away. “No! I—” But he couldn’t get any further with his throat being blocked off by his tears.
“Fuck. Look. I’m sorry, okay?” Zoro said, panicked. “I’ll go back upstairs right now and eat dinner, so… so don’t cry.”
Sanji was so shocked that the tears stopped. “Are you an idiot?” Sanji rubbed his eyes with his sleeve. “You know what, I already know the answer. Just go upstairs and eat.”
But Zoro didn’t move. He stared at Sanji with that same, concerned look, which made him suddenly aware that he just cried in front of Zoro, of all people. Embarrassment rose inside of him, and shame quickly mixed in with all of the other negative emotions like the most fucked up smoothie ever.
Sanji took a deep breath, hoping he could keep his voice steady. “Get out of here already.” Zoro made no attempt to move. “What’s wrong?” The moment of shock was washing away, allowing the memories to flood in again, this time much louder. It was as if Sanji was back in the prison again, his tears irritating his face just as the metal mask did, the distant sound of the ocean just like the one he’d used to hear as the Germa Kingdom moved from one ocean to the next.
“Nothing.”
“You’re shaking.”
Sanji gripped his arm, not even aware he was trembling. “It’s nothing, really.”
Zoro stared at Sanji for a second longer, before plopping himself onto the couch. “Fine. It’s nothing.” Zoro unscrewed the cap to the sake, took a long sip, then held it out for Sanji. “Want a drink?”
Sanji wanted to say, “I’d rather be alone,” but it was a lie, and at that moment, he couldn’t muster the power to lie, so he grabbed the bottle from Zoro, drank the burning, gross liquid, and sat. Neither of them spoke as they passed the bottle between each other. In the distance, they could hear the rest of the crew during their rambunctious dinner, Luffy’s laughter floating above the rest of the voices. It was comforting, far from the silence of the prison.
“They’re loud,” Zoro said, then took a drink of sake.
“It’s not too bad. I don’t mind it.”
“I never said it was bad. Just that they’re loud.” Zoro handed the bottle to Sanji. He grabbed it, his hand accidentally wrapping around Zoro’s. It was surprisingly warm, far different from the cold air. Far different from the cold stone of his prison.
Sanji quickly yanked his hand back. “Sorry,” he muttered, feeling strangely embarrassed.
Zoro stared at Sanji, a gray eye locking onto blue ones. Sanji prepared for him to yell at him or say something about touching him, and Sanji tried to quickly think or a retort, maybe something about not wanting to touch such rough, calloused hands, or that he was too warm, like a fire, but none was needed, because what Zoro said was so completely unexpected that Sanji couldn’t even comprehend a response.
“Your eyes are really pretty when you cry,” Zoro said. Sanji stared at him blankly, which caused red to sprout on Zoro’s cheekbones, the color of autumn leaves. It was cute, or it would’ve been if it was on a woman, and not Zoro. “I just, I mean, the red made your eyes really pop, is all. Nothing but an observation.”
His sudden fluster made Sanji nervous. “I-I know what you mean.”
And that's all I have for now ;-; I plan to post sometime this week, hopefully Friday (1/5). It is a planned smut, and ofc, a bottom Zoro fic.

Niko Omilana
----
this ws the most random thing ive ever written 😭
Tumblr media
-----
You and Niko had just finished filming a video for Beta Squad with you as the special guest.
Everyone else was planning to go out to eat after the shoot but you and him somehow ended up getting fish and chips and eating in a random park at 10 PM.
"You know, I used to do this all the time with my family, and we would end up playing football at the end." You said as you grabbed a couple chips and ate them.
"You? Playing football? That's impossible." He said in what you think was the most sarcastic voice you've ever heard.
"Yeah. I was great at it." You replied, flinging your hair over your shoulder and rolling your eyes. That action alone made Niko laugh at you.
"Nah that's too unbelievable." He said as he wrapped up the rubbish that was left.
"Rude. I bet I could beat you in a 1v1." You said as he looked at you with a glare.
"Really? Let's get a football and do it right now."
"I can't you know? I got a bung knee. Players injury."
"Yeah alright then." He said after he laughed a little to long at that. "Let's go to your apartment, I'll get an uber." He said as he pulled out his phone
"We should have a movie night tonight. I've already got tons of snacks at my house too." You said as you pulled out your phone to search up what movie you'll be watching.
"Okay."
---
You walked into your apartment, Niko following behind, and set your bag and keys down on your breakfast bar.
"What are we watching Y/n?" Niko said as he pushed his shoes next to your shoe rack, and made his way to the breakfast bar seats.
You grabbed popcorn from your pantry, putting it in the microwave, and turning around to stand at the other side of the counter.
"A disney one of course. I was thinking about Mulan but we could watch another one."
"We should watch a horror movie-"
"Mulan? I agree." You said, cutting him off as soon as you heard horror movie. He laughed at you and got up to go set up the movie on your tv.
Niko had been at your house so many times it was basically his second home at this point.
---
"Y/n it's a movie, it's not real." Niko said as he watched you with slightly frightened eyes.
"Oh I know it's just so stupid since she did all that for them." You said as you slumped back on the chair after you finished your mini rant.
Niko said nothing as he pulled you closer to him by your shoulder, and picked up the remote to play it.
You stayed silent as he rotated you to lean on the stack of pillows next to the armrest and pulled your legs on top of his lap.
The movie continued but your focus was only on the fact that Niko had been absentmindedly rubbing circles on your calf.
You sat up and moved yourself closer to him, so your upper leg was resting on his lap instead of your calves. He looked at you and raised his eyebrows, grabbing the remote to pause it.
"What's up?"
"What're you talking about?" You asked him with a smile forming onto your face.
He smiled back at you before turning back to the tv, lying one of his arms behind you on the couch and the other on your leg. You scooted forward to be lying against the arm on the couch, with him wrapping it around you to pull you closer to him.
The movie had finished so you grabbed the remote and turned off the tv, crawling over so you were on his lap, and grabbed his face with both of your hands.
"Hi Niko." You whispered to him.
"Hello." He whispered back, looking from your lips to your eyes.
"Guess what?"
"What?" He said as his arms wrapped around your lower back with his fingers tapping a beat into your back.
You shrugged your shoulders as you climbed off his lap, and grabbed the empty popcorn bowl, and walked off to the kitchen.
"TEASE." You heard him say from the couch.
"Buy me dinner first Mr Mayor." You giggled back as he sighed very loudly and muttered under his breathe.

Kurapika plopped down onto the couch, still in his pajamas. He’d woken up to the sound of (Name) making breakfast just a few minutes ago, hurriedly pulling on a pair of pajama pants before rushing out to see her.
“Coffee!”
(Name) set a cup of coffee on the coffee table, smiling at the blonde. “Ahh, thank you.”
As the sun shone through the window, the residents of (Name)’s home began to wake up, slowly walking out of their rooms and into the living room.
“(Name).:: what’s for breakfast?” Killua asked, tugging on her shirt.
“Just omelettes, toast, and bacon.”
Killua yawned. “Sounds good… after breakfast I’ve gotta tell you something.”
“Oh?”
(Name) laughed as Killua shuffled away, falling onto his beanbag chair.
Kurapika lifted himself from the couch and moved to the kitchen, placing his empty coffee cup in the sink. “… how are you?”
“Hmm? Oh, I’m alright I guess. I slept well enough.”
She finished the last omelette, sighing softly. Kurapika felt the urge to move forward and hug her from behind. It would be nice to hold her, feel her warmth and take in her nice scent.
“Kurapika? Do you need something?”
‘Kurapika?’ He tilted his head, watching as she fished some ketchup and chopped up fruit from the fridge. ‘I guess it will take a little longer for her to get used to calling me Pika again…’
“No… just…”
There were butterflies in his tummy when she looked up, placing a hand on his cheek. “Are you alright? You’re acting strange. You don’t have a fever, do you?”
She felt his, cheeks, forehead, then placed the back of her hand against his neck. He yelped at that, jumping back and placing his hand over the place she touched. “Kurapika? Does it hurt?”
“No… no you just… surprised me.”
(Name) kept an eye on him as he scurried away, hiding in the living room to catch his breath. “You’re freaking me out.”
Kurapika scowled at the white haired boy, it stayed quiet.
——————
“Alright, Killua, spill the beans. What did you wanna tell me?”
(Name) was picking up empty plates, handing Killua a napkin before walking towards the kitchen. “Well… you know how I like finding animals?”
“Oh god.”
“Wait, no, it’s a domesticated animal this time.”
“Killua, for the last time raccoons are NOT domesticated-“
“It’s a cat!”
(Name) paused, giving Killua her full attention. “… a cat?”
Kurapika looked up, tilting his head at the tone of (Name)’s voice. ‘She really does love animals.’
“Well why didn’t you say so? Let’s go!”
(Name) jumped up, pulling on her shoes and a jacket before running out the door. “(Name) wait!”
Kurapika followed behind her, slipping on shoes as Killua pushed past him. “I’m the one that knows where it is! Wait a second!”
(Name) paused in the driveway, allowing the two to catch up to her. “Oh, you’re coming too, Kurapika?”
Kurapika blinked, looking down at himself. He was still in his pajamas, but couldn’t help himself. He wanted to follow her, be near her. “Um… yes.”
Killua grabbed (Name)’s hand, leading her down the street and towards the large patch of woods that him and Gon liked to play in. “She’s been staying around that old abandoned shed. I’ve been giving her food, but she still doesn’t trust me yet.”
“Hmm…”
(Name) crouched down in front of the shed, bending down to peek under it. A pair of big, yellow eyes looked back at her as a low hissing could be heard. “Oh wow, that’s a big cat.”
“Yeah, I thought she was a small bear cub at first.”
Kurapika pulled (Name) back a little. “Careful, she did a number on Killua. I don’t want you getting hurt.”
(Name) wiggles out of his grasp. “Well I’m going to get her, so stand back!”
She laid on her tummy and crawled under the shed, only stopping when she couldn’t keep going. “Ahh, ass too fat.”
Kurapika looked down. ‘Yep.’
“Come here, baby, shh, it’s okay~”
Killua and Kurapika made eye contact. “(Name), maybe we should-“
“I GOT HER!”
The two sighed in relief, Kurapika looking back to her ass again. “Hey, I’m right here.” Killua said, slapping Kurapika on the back of the head.
“Oh… oh no SHIT PULL ME OUT! OH MY GOD I THINK SHE JUST TORE A CHUNK OUT OF ME!”
(Name) screeched, wiggling around. “Can’t get out!! Ass!! Too fat!!”
“Shit, (Name) you fucking idiot!” Killua said, grabbing on of her legs. “Kurapika, what are you standing around for, get the other leg!”
Kurapika blinked, staring at her plush thigh. “This is NOT the time to be shy. Grab her!”
The blonde grabbed her leg and pulled in tandem, (Name) coming out from under the shed with a yowling cat in her arms.
“(Name) if you don’t let that spawn of satan go before I-“
Kurapika began to summon his chains, Killua stepping in between them. “No, don’t! If you hurt that cat, you’re spitting on all the pain (Name) just went through to catch it!”
“And there was a lot of pain by the way! Imma have so many scratches!”
“You’re not helping, (Name).”
She pouted as the cat continued to thrash in her arms. “Her teeth are definitely sinking into my arm right now. On a scale of 1 to Killua, it’s a good seven.”
Kurapika blinked, walking forward and chopping the cat on the neck. It went limp in her arms, (Name) gasping. “Kurapika, you-“
“It’s just asleep. Now…”
He took the cat from her, eyes gone red. “Let’s… take it to a shelter or something.”
“A shelter?? That’s my baby!”
“(Name), you just learned about its existence 15 minutes ago.”
“And I already love her.”
“SHE LITERALLY CHEWED ON YOU!”
“And? I still love Killua and he’s bitten me several times!”
“I have.”
Killua sounded a bit too proud for Kurapika’s liking. “Fine. We’ll take the little bastard to a veterinarian. Or a priest. Whoever is closer.”
It turned out that the veterinarian was closer, Kurapika having to drive so (Name) could hold that cat. “Isn’t she just the cutest? I’ve never seen a cat this color!”
Kurapika had a tight grip on the steering wheel, occasionally glancing at (Name)’s injuries. “(Name)… you’re hurt. We should stop and-“
“Cat first, me later.”
Killua licked his thumb and rubbed it against one of her scratches. “There, that should help.”
“Killua I love you but that was really gross.”
“But you’ve done that to me!”
“Yeah, but I’m a mom, you’re a germ ridden child.”
“Okay, rude. True, but hurtful.”
(Name) patted his cheek. “Sorry, baby, love you.”
Kurapika watched this interaction, feeling those butterflies in his tummy again. ‘She’s… so…’
He remembered the words Leorio said a few weeks ago.
“She’s so mommy material.”
‘I guess he wasn’t wrong. She would make a… great mother.’
“Ah, we’re here! Come on boys, let’s get this baby inside.”
———————
(Name) placed the cat on the table, Kurapika and Killua in the waiting room.
“She’s a feral cat, we… found her asleep near our home.”
The veterinarian hummed, checking the cats vital signs. “Hmm, good thing she’s asleep, it makes this process a lot easier.”
The woman felt her stomach, glancing at her apprentice. “Get the clippers.”
(Name) watched in horror as they shaved the cat, pouting. ‘But her fur was so pretty…’
Once her fur was gone, the sad truth was revealed. “Oh god…”
She was skin and bones, with scars, old and new littering her skin. The veterinarians patches her up, before sighing. “Her stomach seems swollen, perhaps it’s worms. Or…”
The cat was taken away, (Name) unable to follow them to the back.
The three waited, Kurapika patting (Name)’s back. “I’m sure it will be okay. Foul creatures such as itself don’t die easily.”
“Don’t call her foul, she’s a little lady! Even if she smells like old cheese and gym socks, that’s not her problem!”
(Name) leaned away from him, crossing her arms. Killua shook his head. “Ahh, now you’ve made her mad. Smooth.”
“Miss (Last Name)?”
(Name) stood up, walking up to the desk before she was brought back to the room the cat was in.
“Hello, sorry for the wait. We went ahead and did an ultrasound, and…”
They held up a picture, causing (Name) to gasp. “She’s about a month and a half pregnant.”
“Aww, mama…” (Name) said, gently petting the cats head. “That’s why she’s so mean, she’s protecting these babies!”
“Well she’s also like that because she’s a feral cat and-“
“You’re just a sweet mama aren’t you? My pretty girl…”
The veterinarian sighed. “Anyways, she’ll need to take some medication and have her wounds cleaned every day. Because she’s a feral cat, it’s best if she’s put to sleep, both t-“
“No.”
(Name) continued petting the cat, eyebrows furrowed. “I want her.”
“You want her?”
“Yes. Just tell me what I need to do, and I’ll take care of her. I won’t let anyone put her down.”
———————
“I can’t believe you brought that thing into the house.”
“She’s not a thing! She’s a cat and she’s pregnant!”
Kurapika sighed, setting up the kennel (Name) bought. “Yeah yeah, I know…”
Killua was on the phone with Gon, explaining the situation. “Yeah, she caught it with her bare hands! Oh yeah, scratche her up good. No, no it wasn’t a bear cub. Yeah.”
Killua looked up. “Hey (Name), Gon wants to come over!”
(Name), who was holding the drugged out cat nodded. “That’s fine. I was actually going to ask you two to come with us on our mission anyways.”
Kurapika finished putting the kennel together. “Yeah, it would be nice to have a look out. That’s Killua’s specialty, yeah?”
Killua paused, clearing his throat and standing up a little taller. “Yeah, yeah that’s right. I am pretty good at that.”
(Name) ruffled his hair. “Killua’s real talented, he’s good at just about anything he puts his mind to.”
Killua hid his face. “(Name)…”
“What? You are! I’m sure you could do anything if you really tried!”
He buried his face in her shoulder, Gon laughing over the phone. “Aww, (Name) you flustered him!”
“Haha, we’ll call you back later Gon. Gotta get this baby in the kennel.”
“… Killua?”
“No, the cat.”
Kurapika snickered, placing the final blanket in the kennel before (Name) walked over and placed the cat inside.
“There we go. It’s comfy, right?”
The cat did not answer, because it couldn’t talk.
“(Name), it’s still asleep.”
“She is getting her beauty sleep.”
“That thing needs to hibernate.”
“Kurapika!”
Killua snickered. “Okay, that was pretty funny. Don’t talk about Meatloaf like that though.”
“Meatloaf?” (Name) tilted her head, peeking up at him.
“Well, that’s what I’ve been calling her in my head. It’s fine if-“
“It’s a good name! I was just going to call her pookie or princess.”
Kurapika raised an eyebrow at that. “That’s not what I would choose to name such a… cat, but, to each their own.”
“Kurapika you are on thin ice.”
He winced when (Name) gave him a look. “… sorry.”
Over the course of several days, (Name) stood watch over the cat, using her nen to help her heal slowly. The cat still hissed when (Name) opened her kennel to change her litter box or feed her, but wasn’t scratching her anymore.
“She’s really starting to warm up to you, (Name).” Kurapika said, handing her a can of cat food. (Name) opened it and dumped its contents onto a dish before placing it in the cats cage. Meatloaf growled when (Name) attempted to pet her, making the woman pull her hand back.
“Yeah, before she would have bitten me instead of just growl!” (Name) stood up, brushing off her long skirt. “She’s supposed to be giving birth within the next four weeks. I’m hoping… it won’t be while we’re gone.”
Kurapika placed a hand on her shoulder. “I’m sure she’ll be fine regardless. Leorio will be keeping a close eye on her.”
Killua came running inside, laughing. “Just got off the phone with Gon, he’ll be getting her a day before we leave for our mission.”
(Name) opened up the oven, peeking at the chicken she was baking. “Ahh, that’s good. Make sure your room is cleaned up before he gets here, sweetheart.”
Kurapika leaned against the counter as she cooked, watching her. He wanted to be near her as much as possible, even if she kept glancing at him nervously. “Are you okay, Kurapika? You keep looking at me.”
“I’m fine.”
He continued to watch her, making (Name) sigh. “Kurapika, it’s hard to work when you’re watching me. You make me- I mean it makes me nervous.”
He tilted his head. “Really? I’m just… curious.”
He wasn’t lying, Kurapika wanted to understand his feelings, why he wanted to be near her and why he liked her so much.
“Well…”
She sighed. “At least… sit down at the table. You hovering around me makes me nervous.”
A few days passed, with Kurapika continuing to follow (Name) around, constantly observing her, much to her chagrin.
Killua sat on the couch, filling something out. “Kurapika, stop being a weirdo. I’m trying to win something and you’re killing my good vibes.”
The blonde frowned. “I’m not being a weirdo.”
“Yes you are, you’ve been up (Name)’s butt the whole week and-“
“Alright, Killua, we’re leaving to go pick up Gon. Let’s get going!”
“Coming, (Name)!”
He quickly finished filling out the paper, folding it and stuffing it into an envelope before following her voice. ‘What’s he up to?’ Kurapika thought as he got up to follow him as well.
———————
“(Name)! Killua! Kurapika!”
The three yelped when they were tackled by Gon, who sprinted through the airport. “Gon, you idiot!”
Killua smacked him as Kurapika helped (Name) stand up. “You alright?”
“Yeah, yeah I’m okay…”
He kept a hand on her back, a light pink on his cheek. ‘I’m touching her.’
“Sorry, (Name), I just got too excited.”
“It’s okay, come here ya goof.”
(Name) pulled the boy into her arms, ruffling his hair. The four rode to Leorio’s house, picking him up before they made their way home.
“Okay boys, we’ve got plans to make. Kurapika, you take over. I’ve gotta feed meatloaf.”
“WAIT! I want to see meatloaf first!”
“Okay, me and Gon are going to feed meatloaf.”
The two walked off, Kurapika clearing his throat. “Alright, here’s the plan. Gon and Killua will be on look out while (Name) and I go undercover as two club goers.”
“Club goers…” Leorio repeated, laughing.
“Yes, that is what I said. Anyways…”
He pulled up the picture of Dracule on his laptop. “This is our target. Once he goes in, you need to radio us. Then, (Name) will begin s-“
He stopped, looking from Killua to Leorio. “She’ll start… her part in this plan.”
“And what is that?”
Kurapika’s lip formed into a thin line, the blonde staying quiet. “It isn’t relevant.”
“Oh, I think it is. Do you have (Name) doing your dirty work?”
“… define dirty work.”
Leorio placed a hand over Kurapika’s mouth. “Okay, that’s enough. What’s next?”
“… once (Name) does her part, I’ll swoop in and place a condition on his heart. He won’t be able to do anything, and I’ll get the information on the scarlet eyes.”
(Name) and Gon walked back in, the latter plopping down on the couch beside Killua. “What did I miss?”
“I’ll fill you in later. Go on.”
Killua waved his hand, gesturing for Kurapika to continue. “Once that’s done, we’ll turn him into the police for the murder of Victor Hummins and his wife, thus clearing our names.”
“Though, they haven’t even identified you two yet.”
Kurapika sighed, rubbing his temple. “(Name) wants it cleared up regardless.”
(Name) sat next to Kurapika, giving him a smile. “It would put my mind at ease.”
The blonde glanced down at her thigh touching his, eyes soft when she leaned her head against his shoulder. “So, is that it?”
“Basically. Once we’ve scouted out the club, we can talk about potential exits and contingency plans.”
She nodded, before standing up. “We’ve got another day before we have to leave, so everyone get to packing. Leorio, thank you so much for watching Meatloaf while we’re gone.”
Leorio bowed his head. “Anything for you, sunshine.”
“Kurapika, can you come help me pack? I need your opinion on what I should wear.”
He nodded, following behind her like a lost puppy. Leorio rolled his eyes. “I’ll be going now. I have to do some packing myself, since I’ll be staying here to take care of the cat.”
(Name) waved, smiling. “Love you, Leorio! See you in a bit!”
“Love you too, doll.”
Kurapika held onto (Name)’s hand, half leading, half dragging her to her room. “Kurapika, careful, I’ll trip.”
He let her go when they reached her door, eyes following her every movement. “Sorry… I just, feel…”
She looked back. “Do you feel unwell? Should I get you some medicine?”
“No, no, just… tired.”
(Name) was quick to frown, tugging on his sleeve. “If you’re tired, you should go rest, we have a big day tomorrow.”
He shook his head, pulling away before sitting on her bed. “No, I’m fine. Please, show me what you need to.”
(Name) sighed, before walking towards her closet and opening it. “I’ll try on a few things, you give me a yes or no, okay?”
He nodded, a bit too enthusiastically. “Go on.”
He waited impatiently, tapping his foot as she changed in the bathroom. “Kurapika?”
Kurapika looked up from his pouting to see (Name) standing in front of him. “Oh.”
She wore a form fitting, sleeveless dress, a dark red in color. It only went a little past her butt, the woman tugging at the fabric around her tummy and hips. “Ahh, I ordered this dress online, it’s not as flattering as I hoped it would be…”
Kurapika couldn’t even speak, eyes wide and mouth agape. A light pink dusted his cheeks, and he had to quickly cross his legs to hide his boner.
“How do I look?” she asked, turning so he could see the dress from the back as well.
It truly did only barely cover her ass, her slight movements exposing a hint of her panties. “You…”
She turned back, tilting her head.
“You shouldn’t wear that.”
(Name) nodded slowly, immediately covering herself more. “Oh, okay…”
‘I can’t let anyone else see her in that but me…’ he thought, eyes following her form as she walked away to change.
‘He thinks it looks bad.’ (Name) thought, pulling the dress off and throwing it onto the floor.
She showed him a few more dresses, before they decided on a red cocktail dress. “That should be good, it’s similar to the dresses some of the women wore when meeting up with Dracule.”
(Name) packed the dress in her suitcase, sighing as the blonde continued to watch her. “You can go now. I’ll be back down in a few minutes.”
She seemed… irritated? Upset? He wasn’t sure, but she wasn’t smiling like she usually did. “Oh.. okay.”
‘Did I do something wrong?’
——————
(Name) sighed, sipping on her martini as she watched the door. ‘This is my third one, I’m gonna end up getting drunk.’
She shrugged, finishing it. The bartender smiled, making her another. “Here you are, miss.”
Kurapika took a drag of his cigarette, exhaling slowly. ‘He should be here any minute, if my intel is correct.’
The blonde was leaning against the wall near the entrance to the club, smoking to fit in with the other club goers. It wasn’t like he hadn’t smoked before, he just wasn’t the biggest fan of it. ‘Oh well, helps my nerves at least…’
Kurapika couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways this mission could go wrong. (Name) was the one that would be doing all the hard work, and that’s what worried him the most. ‘What if he hurts her?’
“Excuse me.”
Kurapika watched as a man walked by, the blonde smirking before dropping his cigarette to the ground and stomping it out. ‘There he is, Dracule Midnight.’
He followed behind the man, staying a good few yards away from him as he entered the club. He spotted (Name) soon after, feeling his heart begin to race.
She looked gorgeous, perched on her stool at the bar, sipping a martini as she scanned the club. When Kurapika took in his surroundings, he felt that familiar nasty feeling wash over him.
Dracule has spotted (Name), and was making his way towards her. He tried not to get too upset when (Name) batted eyelashes at the man, squeezing her arms together to make her cleavage more visible. “Hello, little one. You’re…”
He leaned a little closer, giving her that sharp toothed smile. “Devine.”
Kurapika ordered a drink, not doing a great job at hiding his glare. “Oh, you’re too kind!”
She giggled at him, holding a hand to her soft cheek. ‘She never giggles at me like that…’ Kurapika thought, frowning deeply.
“Say, are you by chance single?” Dracule asked, resting a hand on her thigh after sitting next to her. (Name) glanced down at his hand before answering.
“Yes, I am. Are you?”
She batted her eyelashes at him, looking up at him with hopeful eyes. Dracule laughed, cupping het cheek. “In fact I am. Why don’t you let me buy you a drink?”
Kurapika slammed down a shot before ordering another, his nails tapping away at the bar. ‘He’s touching her. God, what a creep.’
The two chatted, (Name) occasionally laughing at jokes the older man made. “Oh, Dracule, you’re so funny! Can you tell me more about your collection? I’ve never heard about such a thing!”
Kurapika had to admit, even with the knowledge that she was seducing Dracule, it was hard to tell. (Name) was a pretty good actress, and Kurapika found himself getting increasingly irritated.
They were flirting so blatantly that it pissed him off. She was doing exactly what he asked her to do, but he couldn’t help the wave of jealousy washing over him.
Dracule began moving his hand from her thigh, and ho her dress. This caused (Name) to panic for a moment, grabbing his hand.
CRACK!
The glass in Kurapika’s hand shattered, eyes an angry shade of red behind his grey contacts. (Name) only glanced at him for a split second.
“W-why don’t we go somewhere more private? There’s a room nearby…”
She stood up, rubbing her neck before walking off.
‘That’s the signal!’
Kurapika quickly paid for his drink before following behind the two, hiding behind people dancing around the club as he tailed them.
It was dark, Kurapika having to blink his eyes a few times to adjust to the low lighting. He scanned the crowd, now only able to see Dracule due to (Name) being shorter than the club goers surrounding them.
If he wasn’t so pissed and rushing to get her back in his arms, he would have thought it was cute.
“I can’t wait any longer, little one.”
(Name) was being pushed against a wall, the woman gasping when Dracule smashed his face into hers. Her eyes went wide, making eye contact with Kurapika’s.
She felt her blood run cold at the look in his eyes. She’d never seen him look so angry.
He was pushing people out of the way to get to them, (Name) having only a few seconds to stop him before he blew both of their covers.
She closed her eyes, tangling her hands in Dracule’s long black locks. (Name) deepened the kiss, wrapping her leg around his.
Kurapika stopped, watching the scene with wide eyes. His heart pounded against his chest, an awful ache settling behind his ribs.
It hurt, watching her reciprocate Dracule’s kiss and touches. He knew why she was doing it, but that didn’t stop it from being painful to watch.
She pulled away, panting slightly. “I want… I want you…”
Kurapika’s blood pressure was beginning to rise, summoning his chains. “Naughty girl… let’s go to that room you mentioned earlier, hmm?”
She nodded, glancing to Kurapika before leading Dracule towards the room. Kurapika took a deep breath before following them, biting his lip so harshly he could taste blood.
She pulled him into the room, leaving it cracked behind her. Dracule was already reaching around to pull her zipper down, (Name) blushing furiously as she tried to slow him down long enough for Kurapika to get there.
He pulled her dress down, exposing the lacy black bra she’d worn for the occasion. “It’s almost like you wore this just for me…” he cooed, hands about to cup her breasts.
“N-no, please slow down!” (Name) said, beginning to struggle against him. Panic was beginning to settle into her chest, causing the (h/c) haired girl to tear up.
He didn’t release his hold on her, holding onto her waist so tight she winced.
“Shh, just stay quiet and-“
“Judgement Chain!”
The sound of chains shooting out and into Dracule’s chest made (Name) relax, the girl stepping out the man’s arms and rushing over to Kurapika. The blonde softened when he saw her face.
She was holding onto her dress, trying to cover herself as much as possible as tears beaded in the corner of her eyes. (Name) didn’t speak, only standing near his side.
Kurapika turned his eyes on Dracule, who was sneering. “You little bitch, you set me up!”
Kurapika’s eyes narrowed. “I would watch what you say, Mr. Dracule Midnight. It could be your final words.” His voice was low and cold as he stepped forward, flexing his finger.
Dracule clutched his chest, crying out in pain as the chain tightened around his heart.
“I’ll be placing a condition on you. My nen blade is in your heart, and if you asnwer any of the questions I ask you with a lie, you will die.”
Dracule sank to the floor, groaning. “What the hell do you want? Money? I’ll give you anything just-“
“Silence.”
The man screamed, his voice unheard by the people outside due to the loud music.
“My first question is, where are the scarlet eyes you keep in your possession?”
“I-In my home!”
Kurapika tutted, placing his foot on the man’s head. “I need specifics.”
(Name) pulled a small notepad and pen from her purse, and write down the address Dracule Midnight gave them. “My second question is, who killed Victor Hummins and his wife?”
“I… hired some assassins to take them out. My… my boss heard they were planning something and… ordered me to stop them.”
“Your boss?”
Kurapika hummed. “Alright, last question.”
He crouched down, taking off his contacts to stare into the man’s eyes with his scarlet ones.
“What were you planning on doing to her after she said no?”
Dracule blubbered, glancing back at (Name). “N-nothing I swea-“
Before he could even finish, he coughed up blood as the nen blade pierced his heart. Kurapika waited a moment before yanking his chain out harshly, blood spraying out and covering his face.
He stared down at the man’s corpse, eyes burning red. Usually, he didn’t enjoy killing, but this time…
“Disgusting.”
Kurapika stood, turning to see (Name) struggling to keep herself covered, tears still in her eyes. “… turn around.”
She looked up, eyes widening slightly at the bloody sight in front of her before doing as told. He pulled her dress up, zipping her up before sighing. “There, you’re decent now.”
(Name) turned back, watching as Kurapika leaned against the wall, eyes boring holes into the man’s corpse. “… we should go before someone noticed he’s gone.”
Kurapika nodded, slowly raising his gaze to meet hers. He’d calmed down slightly, her presence alone able to help him catch his breath. “… (Name)?”
She hummed in response as she texted Gon and Killua that they were about to leave.
“… did… did you enjoy kissing him?”
The air grew tense, Kurapika immediately knowing he fucked up.
“… why are you asking me that?”
He stuttered out a response, stepping forward. “I’m sorry, I just… was curious. You looked…”
(Name) scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “I was acting, kind of like what you did to me in that alleyway. Neither of us… actually felt anything.”
Ouch.
Kurapika remembered feeling a lot, and hearing her say she felt nothing made his chest hurt.
‘He was just acting, (Name). You can’t… you can’t let yourself get your hopes up.’ she thought, looking away from him.
“I see… of course.”
Kurapika shrugged off his jacket, placing it around his shoulders. “I apologize, (Name). You’re just quite the actress.”
He tried to give her a comforting smile, but it came out looking strained. (Name) glanced at him, pulling the jacket around her herself. “… thank you.”
She cuddled into the fabric, only to blink and crinkle her nose. “Yuck, this smells like cigarettes…”
She blinked again, looking up at her blonde friend. (Name) leaned toward and sniffed him, causing Kurapika to yelp. “(N-Name)!”
She gasped. “Kurapika, you didn’t smoke, did you? Do you know how bad that is for you?”
He groaned, running his fingers through his hair. “It was only one. I only smoke socially.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, whatever you say.”
She handed him his jacket back, pinching her nose. “You can have this back. I can’t stand the smell of cigarettes…”
He stared at her as she stormed off, having to go around the back so no one saw how bloody he was.
——————
“How did it go?”
Killua and Gon jumped down from the building they’d been on, the former raising an eyebrow at Kurapika’s bloody state.
“… he’s dead, but we got the information we needed.”
(Name) wasn’t even looking at Kurapika, calling them a cab. “Damn, what did you do to piss off (Name)?” Killua asked, ready to extend his claws if Kurapika did anything to hurt her.
“Apparently she doesn’t like the fact that I smoke sometimes.” Kurapika said, rubbing his temple.
“Yeah, probably because she has asthma!” Gon said, smiling up at the blonde. Kurapika blinked.
“She what?”
Killua groaned. “You cannot be serious right now. How many times did she use her inhaler during the exam??”
“.. none?”
The two blinked at him. “Kurapika…” Gon said, putting a hand on his friends shoulder. “We saw her use it several times.”
“Shit, maybe she was hiding it from you. She doesn’t like others knowing about her weakness.”
‘Especially not him.’ Killua finished in his thoughts. ‘She’d never tell him after the shit he said in York New.’
(Name) walked back over. “Our cab will be here soon.”
“Thank you, (Name).” Kurapika said, attempting to stand closer to her. She frowned, stepping back.
“Pika I’m not trying to be mean, but until you get the smell of cigarettes off of you, stay back.”
Kurapika visibly deflated at her words, leaning against the building and pouting. Killua looked at Kurapika and smirked.
“(Name), I missed you!”
He ran forward, burying his face in her shoulder. (Name) laughed, pulling him close. “Aww, Killua, I was only gone for a little!”
She kissed the top of his head, Killua glancing back to stick his tongue out at the blonde.
‘That brat!’
Gon joined the hug, not understanding Killua was only doing it to tease Kurapika. “Killua was real worried about you, mom!”
“Mom?” Kurapika said, laughing. “Not you too.”
Killua sighed. “Gon, you called her mom.”
Gon tilted his head, looking down at (Name). “But (Name) doesn’t mind. Right?”
She laughed, ruffling his hair. “Of course not, you two are my babies after all~” she cooed, kissing both of their foreheads.
Killua felt his cheeks go pink, swatting her affection away. “Not a baby…”
But he couldn’t help feeling happy that she loved him so much, smiling to himself.
Kurapika watched this with a scowl on his face, arms crossed over his chest. ‘Could really use another cigarette right now.’
———————
Kurapika pulled on his tabard, throwing his clubbing clothes to the ground. “I’m going to go scout out the location Dracule gave us. I’ll be back by morning.”
(Name) stood in front of him, blocking the door. “Oh no you don’t! It’s the middle of the night, and you’re tired! It doesn’t make sense to go now, especially alone!”
Kurapika raised his hand to push her out of the way, only for the sound of someone clearing their throat to stop him.
Killua stood a few feet away from the two, leaned against the wall. “Kurapika, I would be careful if I were you. Calm down.”
The blonde lowered his hand, eyes narrowing. “… out of my way, (Name).”
“No, you’re staying. End of story.”
She crossed her arms, looking up at him. For a moment, he considered just going ahead and pushing her out of the way, but Killua wouldn’t let that slide. “… fine. We’ll be leaving at dark tomorrow.”
After a shower, Kurapika was the first to go to bed, ignoring the others. (Name) waited until he was asleep to pull the cover over him, sighing as she sat on his bed.
Killua was still feeling upset from earlier, folding his arms over his chest. ‘If I hadn’t stepped in, would he have pushed her? It’s not as bad as when he broke her wrist, but…’
He sighed, plopping down on his and Gon’s shared bed. ‘… I want… I want to believe he’s better, but it seems I’ll have to keep an eye on him.’
(Name) yawned, climbing into her own bed. The room had three beds in total, meaning her and Kurapika got their own place to sleep.
She found herself feeling a bit lonely, turning to face Kurapika. He was only a few feet away from her, she could stand up, walk over, and climb into bed with him.
But she didn’t.
Sleeping in the same bed with him out of necessity was one thing, climbing into bed with him when she had her own was something completely different.
Instead of that, she turned away from him, pulling the blanket up to her chin and cuddling into her pillow.
‘He’s so close, yet so far away. I… I miss him…’
———————
The four sat in their hotel room, bored out of their minds. They couldn’t go forward with their mission until that night, meaning they’d be stuck in the hotel all day long.
“We could play a board game.” Gon suggested, his head in (Name)’s lap. Killua shook his head.
“No, we always fight over games. What’s something else we could do?”
(Name) glanced over at Kurapika, who was still staring at his laptop. He’d been pretty much ignoring the three all day, typing away.
“Hmm…”
She stood up and walked to the small kitchenette, which had a microwave, small fridge, and a few cabinets.
“I have an idea! Let’s make roasted marshmallows!”
The two gave her a confused look. “But (Name)… we can’t start a campfire in the hotel.”
“Yeah, the last time we did that you got mad at us!”
‘Last time??’ Kurapika thought.
“We don’t need a fire to roast marshmallows!” (Name) popped open the bag, pulling one out. “Just need something warm.”
“… you aren’t going to put them in the microwave are you? They’ll explode.” Killua said, raising an eyebrow.
She frowned at him, placing the marshmallows on a paper plate. “I’ve done this a hundred times before! I’ve never had s’mores over a fire.”
“What? Why not?”
(Name) got quiet, turning the microwave on. “I… didn’t have friends growing up, and my parents…”
She cleared her throat, watching the marshmallow head up for a minute before pulling it out. “Let’s just say they weren’t exactly… present. I was fed, clothed, and having a home. That’s it.”
Kurapika wanted to reach out and place a hand on her shoulder, but Killua spoke up. “Wow they sound like they sucked.”
This made her laugh. “Yeah, they did. But now I’ve got a family that loves me.”
She pulled Killua and Gon into her arms. “You two and Leorio are all I need.”
Kurapika sat there awkwardly, holding onto his shirt. When (Name) noticed, she was quick to rephrase. “You too, of course. Sorry, I’m just… not used to you being around.”
‘Ah, I guess that’s my fault, really.’
Kurapika watched as she made marshmallows, the two boys laughing as they munched on them. She seemed happy, explaining the right time to take the marshmallows out.
“Now, you two should not have too many, I don’t want you bouncing off the walls when I’m trying to sleep later.”
The two complained, and she sighed. “Okay, one more. But then it’s time to get ready for mission.”
They cheered, Kurapika getting up from his bed to join them. “… can I have one?”
She turned, giving him a smile. “Sure! Let’s get you one ready.”
Kurapika waited a moment, smiling when she brought him a marshmallow. “Oh, there’s two.”
“Yeah, one’s for me! I’ve been making so many for Gon and Killua, but I haven’t gotten to eat one yet.”
Kurapika picked one up, glancing up at her before taking a bite. “Mmm!”
Memories of nights spent under the stars with Pairo filled his mind, making him smile. ‘This… this is nice. I forgot how nice it is just to… sit and enjoy things.’
It was just a marshmallow, but he felt his entire body relax. If he hadn’t stopped when (Name) asked, he would have missed out on this moment.
‘Maybe… it’s okay to slow down sometimes.’
As he thought this, he glanced over to (Name), about to apologize for his actions last night.
‘Oh fuck.’
(Name) was struggling to eat a marshmallow, the white, gooey mess dribbling down her chin. She scooped the excess up with her fingers, lapping it up before glancing up at him.
“Mmm… isn’t it good, Kurapika? I just love the texture!”
He stared at her, open mouthed for a moment. She was giving him an innocent look, tilting her head. “Kurapika? Your marshmallow is slipping from you- oh it’s on the floor now.”
He didn’t hear a word she was saying. ‘Fuck I’m glad I stayed.’
“I’ll… be right back. I need a shower.”
“But didn’t you shower last n-“
He was already closing the bathroom door behind him, causing Killua and Gon to look up and reveal they’d stolen the bag of marshmallows.
“… it’s empty. Jesus Christ how many did you eat?”
They didn’t respond, they cheeks puffing out.
“…”
She crouched down and grabbed Killua’s cheeks with both hands. “…”
She squeezed his cheeks, causing marshmallows to fall out of his mouth. Next to her, Gon spat out a few marshmallows. “We’re pretending to be chipmunks!”
He gathered up the spit covered marshmallows and shoved them back in his mouth.
“Gon I’m going to pretend I didn’t see that, for both of our sakes.”
Killua slowly swallowed the rest, sighing when he could speak again. “It was Gon’s idea.”
“Uh huh. You two are in big trouble, but not from me. Eating that much sugar will be punishment enough.”
“What do you mean?”
She stood up, walking away.
“MOM WHAT DO YOU MEAN??”
——————
Kurapika sighed, having just come down from his third orgasm. The sight of her covered in marshmallow fluff had really riled him up, making him walk out of the shower with flushed cheek and a satisfied smile.
He dressed quickly, throwing a towel around his shoulders and walking out. Kurapika walked out, now in a pair of sweatpants and tank top. He thought about snatching (Name)’s hoodie that was hung up nearby, but stopped himself. ‘No, I can’t. Killua would never let me hear the end of it.’
“Kurapika, you’re just in time! We’re almost ready to go!”
The other three were wearing black clothing, (Name) giving him a smile before blinking. “Is that what you’re wearing?”
“… yes.”
“But-“
“It’s comfortable.”
No one argued, not wanting to piss him off before the mission. While it was true the outfit was comfortable, that wasn’t the real reason. He was still feeling a bit… aroused by the earlier events, and wouldn’t be able to hide when he popped a boner in the skin tight black pants he brought with him.
“Let’s get your hair dried, then we’ll go.”
Kurapika sat in front of her, sighing in contentment as she dried his hair. Killua and Gon left to wait for their cab outside, leaving the two alone.
“(Name), about last night…”
She paused, looking down at him. “… what about it?”
He took a deep breath, scratching the back of his neck. “I’m sorry for… being… irritable. You weren’t wrong to stop me.”
She was quiet, her movements pausing. “… apology accepted.”
Her heart thumped at her chest, a small spark of hope lighting up in her heart. ‘Maybe he’s back to being the Pika I knew.’
The moment was interrupted by Killua and Gon walking in. “Cabs here!”
———————
The took the cab out to the town the mansion of Dracule was located, walking the rest of the way by foot. Killua and Gon were racing each other down the road, leaving the two alone once again.
“So, Kurapika… what are your plans after this mission? Have you decided what you’re going to do yet?”
Kurapika stopped in his tracks, looking away from her. That was a question he’d asked himself several times through the past week as they prepared for this mission.
On one hand, he wanted to leave. This was the second time he’d put her in harms way for his own gain. The whole reason he’d left was for her protection, and he was going against that now. If he was just going to come back into her life anyways, he’d hurt her like that for no reason.
On the other hand…
His heart began to thump against his chest when he looked at her. The moon shone down on her, lighting up her pretty features. It was hard to think of anything else other than how much he wanted her in this moment.
‘I’m so fucking selfish.’
Kurapika cleared his throat, continuing to walk. “I haven’t decided yet.”
“I see…”
She continued walking, glancing at him as he stayed by her side. “I would… like if you stayed with me.”
His eyes widened, a light pink lighting up his cheeks. “… you would?”
“Yeah. I… really missed you when you were gone.”
Her admission had his heart pounding, and he had to look away from her so she couldn’t see how red his face had gotten. ‘She… missed me? Even after everything I did? Maybe… maybe…’
Kurapika glanced back at her, eyes softening. ‘Maybe… it’s not too late. Would it be so bad if I stayed?’
Killua and Gon came sprinting back. “The mansion is only a few yards up ahead. Gon and I surveyed the perimeter, and there seems to be no guards in sight. We even found a way in.”
(Name) laughed. “Great job, you two! Let’s get going!”
——————
Kurapika helped (Name) in through a window, his hand lingering around her waist for a moment before he pulled away.
“If his directions are right, the safe should be down this hall and to the right. Gon, you two keep watch. Killua, you go and get his computer from his room. (Name), you’re coming with me.”
He grabbed her hand and began to walk down the hall. The walls were decorated with portraits of Dracule and his family, (Name) frowning. ‘He has such a beautiful family, and gave it all up to hook up with random women.’
She rubbed her arm, shivering slightly at the memory of his touch. Dracule had been rough, tasting like whiskey and cigarettes.
At that moment, she remembered her kiss shared with Kurapika in the alley. He’d been gentle, careful to not hurt her when he pinned her against the wall. Although he was a bit awkward, he was nowhere near a bad kisser, making her melt under his touch.
‘I wanna… kiss him again…’
“(Name)? (Name) do you have the combination?”
She was pulled out of her thoughts by Kurapika’s words. He was whispering into her ear, breath tickling her neck. She shivered again, but for a different reason this time.
“Yes, it should be right here…”
She reached for her purse, only to come up empty. “My purse… I left it, shit!”
Kurapika covered her mouth. “Fuck. What are we going to do? Damn it.”
He let her go, not wanting her to see how angry he was. As he cursed, (Name) stood and approached the safe, holding her hand over it. “Kurapika, I’ll have to release Zetsu for this. If there are any skilled nen users nearby, they may be able to sense me.”
“What are you-“
The safe began to rust, Kurapika’s eyes widening as it began to deteriorate in front of them. “Shit, it’s hard to focus on just the safe…”
Sweat dripped down her brow, the girl collapsing when it disintegrated into dust. Kurapika rushed forward, kneeling down to check on her before glancing up.
The scarlet eyes stood before him, several pairs looking at him. “(Name)… you…”
He was astonished. In just seconds, she’d completely disintegrated an entire safe. “Sped up… it’s time…”
She stood on wobbly legs, giving him a tired smile. “That was-“
“So this is what I was sensing.”
The two looked back to see a woman staring them down from behind them. She was a good 10 feet away, her long blonde hair framing her pretty face.
‘That’s the woman from the portraits!’ (Name) thought, eyes wide.
“Mrs. Midnight.”
Kurapika stood up, summoning his chains. “So that’s why there are no guards, you’re a nen user yourself.”
The woman sighed, crossing her arms. “Why are you what and what do you want? My husband isn’t here, if that’s what you’re looking for. He’s barely ever here anymore.”
Upon closer inspection, (Name) could see dark circles under her eyes, her hair a mess, and she seems… exhausted. And if she wasn’t imagining things, the hints of bruises shaped like fingers peeled out of her turtleneck.
Kurapika seemed ready to attack, standing in front of (Name) protectively. “Kurapika, remember she has children!” she said in a hushed voice. The blonde frowned.
“So did Victor.”
The woman summoned a staff, twirling it expertly.
(Name) struggled to think of a solution that would allow them all to leave the situation unharmed.
“Your husband is dead!” (Name) blurted our, causing her friend to pause.
Kurapika blinked, looking back to his friend in shock. “(Name)!”
The woman stared at (Name), her expression unreadable. “He wasn’t a good man, and was cheating on you! And from I can see… he wasn’t a good man to you either. You deserve better!”
Kurapika stared wide eyed at (Name). ‘Oh my god, she’s an idiot we’re going t-‘
“Thank god.”
‘WHAT?’
The woman relaxed, tugging at her turtleneck as her staff disappeared. “I suspected as much, but couldn’t do anything. He threatened to hurt the children, I…”
She held herself, (Name) moving past Kurapika too walk towards her, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. “You don’t have to tell us anything more. He’s gone now, you don’t have to be scared anymore.”
(Name) gave her a smile, before getting serious. “We came here to take these eyes back. A… friend of ours is the only surviving member of the clan they were stolen from.”
The woman nodded, sighing. “Please, feel free to take them. My husbands- well, ex husbands hobby never sat well with me, but I was powerless to stop him.”
Kurapika held onto the front of his tank top looking down. Once again, he had been about to act rashly without thinking of the consequences. He’d just assumed that the woman was in on it, and had been seconds away from killing her.
“Momma!”
Two children ran out of the darkness, clinging to the woman’s legs. She gasped, kneeling down to shield them. “I told you to stay in your rooms!”
“But we didn’t want you to fight them alone momma!”
The older of the two, a girl with twin braids held a toe sword in her hand, whacking (Name) over the head with it. “Don’t you hurt my momma!”
“Ouch, hey! I’m not gonna-“
Kurapika caught the sword, crushing it in his hand. “That’s enough.”
The kid squeaked, running to hide behind her mothers legs. The woman stared at Kurapika, shielding her children.
“… we got what we wanted. Let’s go, (Name).”
She nodded, beginning to walk away. Before getting completely out of view, she turned around.
“I hope you start loving your life for yourself!! You’re gorgeous!!”
With that, the two left, Kurapika raising an eyebrow at her. “What was that for? We were already leaving, there was no need fo-“
“Girls support girls.”
‘Ah, that again.’
He thought back, frowning. ‘If I killed her… her children would have seen it all.’
Before he could spiral into self hate for this, (Name) grabbed his hand. “We got so many pairs today, Kurapika! I bet these kiddos are happy you found them!”
She held onto the two glass cases gently, beginning to hum a lullaby. “(Name)…”
“It’s time for them to rest. I hope… if I hum them a lullaby, it will help them find their way home.”
His heart thumped against his chest wildly as she continued, biting his bottom lip.
‘I.. think I love her.’
Gon jumped when the two arrived at the window, Killua poking his head into the mansion to complain about them being late.
“Ugh, you two took forever, it’s been a whole hour.”
(Name) laughed, handing Killua one of the cases. “We got a little tied up.”
The walk home was quiet, the weight of the eyes in their arms heavy.
———————
Leorio tapped his foot, waiting at the train station. The four had finished their mission two days ago, leaving the next morning.
“Leorio!”
His scowl turned into a smile at the sound of (Name)’s voice, opening his arms so she could jump into his arms. “Hey there, sunshine. Miss me?”
“So much!”
She kissed his cheek, cooing as she nuzzled her cheek against his. “Thank you so much for watching Meatloaf, my sweet guy.”
His face was turning red, laughing lowly. “Anything for you, sunshine.”
She giggled, holding a hand to her cheek. “So, how is she? Did she have her babies?”
Leorio’s smile faded, (Name) feeling her heart drop. “About that…” he trailed off when he saw the boys walking over, Kurapika giving him a jealous look.
“She’s at the vet right now.”
They dropped Killua and Gon off at the house before he drove the other adults to the vet. “She went into labor last night, and was having trouble so I brought her to the vet as soon as I could. I haven’t been able to get any updates because I left early to pick you all up.”
(Name) bit her lip, looking out the window. Kurapika noticed this, holding onto her hand. “I’m sure it-she’s okay, (Name).
She squeezed his hand back, nodding slowly. “Yeah… yeah I hope so.”
The three arrived at the vet, (Name) being brought to a room to see meatloaf.
“She’s okay, just tired. The kittens, however…”
(Name) peeked into the kennel, tears beading at her eyes. There was only one kitten in the kennel, a weak looking orange tabby.
“Only one survived, and we’re not sure this one will make it. It seems due to her being malnourished, the kittens didn’t develop enough to live outside her body. He’s the only one that had fully functional organs.”
(Name) nodded slowly, reaching into the kennel and placing her hand over the kitten. “It’s okay, baby. It’s okay…”
She activated her nen, speeding up the recovery time of both Meatloaf and the kitten.
“What’s next? How long will they need to stay here?”
The vet sighed, looking at the clipboard in her hands. “I’d say at least a week. Meatloaf is still malnourished, but has shown a lot of improvement over the past week since she’s been here. Regardless, we’d like to keep her and the kitten here for observation.”
(Name) nodded, pulling her hand away. “I understand.”
Kurapika looked up when (Name) walked out, quick to rush over. “Is she okay?”
“Yeah… yeah she’s fine. Only…”
She began tearing up, her lip quivering. “Only one of the kittens survived.”
“Oh, (Name).”
Kurapika pulled her into a hug, eyes softening as she sobbed into his shirt. He hated seeing her cry, especially when it was over something like this.
Leorio joined their hug before guiding (Name) to the car. “Let’s get home, sunshine.”
——————
(Name) broke the news to the other two, still struggling to speak without crying. Killua hugged her. “It’s not your fault, mom. She was already not in the best shape. If… if I had caught her sooner…”
(Name) pulled away, shaking her head. “No, no don’t talk like that baby. You did your very best, and if you hadn’t told me where she was, she might have given birth alone and that baby would have died too.”
Killua nodded, burying his face in his shoulder. “… I… I don’t want them to die.”
She held him close. “I know, I know… that’s life, baby. It happens sometimes.”
Gon seemed to be taking it better, used to seeing animals die. (Name) was right, and Gon knew that better than anyone. Everyone died eventually, and he was just happy that Meatloaf and the kitten were okay.
They spent the day together, Killua sticking by (Name)’s side as they settled back in.
———————
A day later, Kurapika climbed up the stairs, stopping a few times to question if what he was doing was the right thing to do.
‘This… this is what I need to do for now. I can always change my mind later.’
He knocked on (Name)’s door, waiting a moment before the door creaked open, the girl peeking out. “Oh, hey Pika. Need something?”
The nickname had his heart racing already, the blonde having to calm himself down. “Yes, I do actually. Can I…”
She blinked. “Oh, yes, come in!”
She opened the door wider, allowing him to walk in. Kurapika sat down on her bed, gesturing for her to sit with him.
“I… wanted to talk to you about something. It’s important, so listen carefully, okay?”
“…okay.”
He took a deep breath, glancing at her before beginning. “I… wanted to ask if… you would consider coming on missions with me more often. Your ability is very useful, and…”
‘You help me keep a level head.’
He didn’t say this though, leaving the sentence unfinished. (Name)’s face began to light up, her eyes widening. “Does that mean… you’ll be staying here?”
He nodded slowly, a blush forming on his cheeks when she laughed, grabbing his hands. “Really? You’re here to stay?”
“Yes, I am.”
She hugged him then, face burying itself in her chest as she laughed, her aura surrounding him.
He could feel how happy she was, but could only scowl.
‘I hope… I hope I don’t have to hurt her again. I just want to…’
He hugged her back, burying his face in her hair.
‘I want to be with her. So much.’
But the truth of the situation lingered in the back of his mind.
In reality, he was using her to avenge his clan, putting the woman he loved in danger for his own gain.
Was it so bad, though, when she was so happy to help him? He inhaled her scent, letting himself melt into her embrace.
‘This… is nice…’
Even if she was only helping Kurapika to keep him from leaving her behind, he couldn’t feel very loved in that moment.
———————
Killua laughed, rushing into the living room. “Guys!”
(Name) looked up, Kurapika mumbling in his sleep. She’d been leaning against his shoulder. Over the past two days, she’d grown a bit more comfortable being by his side. It wasn’t much, but it was progress.
Gon and Leorio were playing Mario cart next to them, pausing their game.
The blonde rubbed his eyes as Killua stepped into view, holding up a piece of paper.
“I won!”
They all looked at him confused. “Won what?” (Name) asked, tilting her head. Killua sighed.
“Ah, I forgot to tell you. I entered into a raffle right before we left for some tickets to a hot spring and won.”
(Name) gasped, jumping up. “Really?? How many tickets?”
“Five!”
She giggled, pulling him into s hug. “Oh, how exciting! I’ve never been to a hot spring before!”
Kurapika perked up, finally awake. “That sounds nice. I heard they have healing properties and-“
“Who said you were going?”
Kurapika narrowed his eyes at the white haired boy. “But you have five tickets.”
“Yeah, but-“
(Name) flicked his forehead. “Killua, be nice. Of course you’re coming Kurapika. It’ll be a nice change of pace!”
Leorio took the tickets as Killua grumbled. “Hey… the hot spring is at least a day away. We only get to stay on night. Oh!”
Leorio snapped his fingers, grinning. “Why don’t we have a little road trip? It would be a waste to drive there and drive back the next day. Instead, we should take a few days and travel around the area. I know there’s a big amusement park only a few hours past this hot spring.”
(Name) nodded. “That sounds like a plan! Oh, I’m so glad you’re here Gon! That means you can come with us.”
He grinned, leaning his head against Killua’s shoulder. “Yeah, this will be fun!”
The white haired boy blushed, pushing Gon away. “Yeah, yeah.”
‘A road trip… more time to spend with (Name).’
Kurapika watched with soft eyes as (Name) scurried around the house to get ready for their trip.
‘What could go wrong?’

Despite the scorching heat of an artificial sun, Lorraine feels as if her blood is ice. Wide eyes scanned the others, looking for his face. She lets out a distressed whine and clenches her fists repeatedly once she realizes he is out of her line of sight.
“Let the 75th Hunger Games begin,” the familiar voice speaks from above. “May the odds be ever in your favor.”
You can do this, the words echo in her head. You’ve already done this. That was different, she thinks, he knew it was different. The girl shakes her head as she readies herself. The time to second guess was over now. As the countdown ends, urgency ignites in the pit of her stomach. “Three, two, one.” Taking one final breath, she plunges into the water and propels forward with great speed.
Within seconds, she's at the base of the Cornucopia and hoisting herself onto the black rocks. Lorraine snatches up two silver, hook-shaped blades and turns quickly, only to be met with the tip of an arrowhead inches from her face.
Seven Years Earlier - District 4
In a small white house, two unsteady hands did their best to pin up brown locks. Once that was secure, Lorraine scanned her reflection in search of flaws. She strained to see all angles of herself, desperately ensuring nothing slipped through the cracks. Surely this time, there wouldn’t be anything to fix.
Her Reaping Day attire was a sea-green dress handed down by her sister Charlotte and a homemade pearl necklace that glinted faintly in the light. The dress hugged her flatteringly, the way it had with her sister before she hit her growth spurt. Lorraine never liked tempting fate on a day like this, but was secretly sure that she would have another chance to wear this outfit. She slipped on a pair of white sandals and left her bedroom. They clacked against aged wooden floors, being the only sound in a relatively quiet house.
She made her way into the kitchen, where her mother was laying breakfast out on the table. Sunlight streamed in through the small window above the sink and made the faded blue dress she wore look much brighter. Seeing that neither her siblings or father were in the room, Lorraine tried to turn and retreat silently, only to be given away by the jingle of her bracelet. It was the smallest sound, really, but her mother could have heard it from the docks.
“Good morning to you, too.” The woman spoke. She had an authoritative tone by default and it always made Lorraine feel as though she was about to be scolded. The girl reluctantly made her way to her mother. She muttered, “Good morning,” and waited patiently for her examination.
Her mother turned away from the sink to begin inspecting her until she could find something wrong. There was always something wrong. Sure enough, she pulled out the pin from Lorraine’s hair and gathered more hair to bring back. The girl winced as the pin was forcefully scraped against her scalp. Then she positioned a few strands out in the front to frame her daughter’s face. Her hands swatted Lorraine’s own as they moved up. “Leave it. You look beautiful.” The compliment surprised her and convinced her not to argue. She thanked her mother and allowed the woman to wrap her arms around her, as she did every Reaping Day.
Her mother’s skin was soft and cold, permanently chilled from years of working in the cold packing house that shipped fish to the Capitol. Lorraine didn’t care that the touch caused goosebumps, she savored any moment that her mother was close like this. The woman squeezed her for a few seconds before returning to her task. And just like that, the moment was over. It was the only thing that left Lorraine emptier than the reaping.
She had little time to dwell on this as her sister entered the kitchen. Charlotte was in a white dress that stopped just above her knees and heeled shoes, the look on her face confirming that they were her mother’s idea. The older girl greeted them casually, bending her leg to fidget with a strap on the shoe. They would take some getting used to, as she spent most of her time barefoot in the sand, setting and emptying traps for their father or gathering shells to make jewelry with.
“I can’t wait for this to be over with,” Charlotte griped as she sat next to her sister. “These things are torture.” Lorraine snickered as she stared under the table at the other girl’s shoes.
“Tell me about it,” She gestured to the left side of her head. “She practically shoved this pin into my skull. I bet you it still won’t stay up.” As the two shared their discomfort, their brother’s voice sounded from behind them.
“I just can’t believe you’re really wearing a dress.” Devon laughed. He was wearing a blue collared shirt that was tucked into light-colored slacks. A silver fishhook, gifted from his girlfriend Vidia, hung around his neck. “It actually doesn’t look that unfortunate!”
“At least I don't smell unfortunate,” Charlotte snapped in response. “It reeks of fish bait in here now.”
The boy went to say something rotten back to his younger sister, but was interrupted.
“That's enough.” They all turned to their father who was emerging from the living room, slipping on his worn blue sweater. Seeing the man calmed the growing feeling of dread in Lorraine’s stomach as the time to leave their home was nearing. He had a way of making her feel better in situations like these and it was no secret that she’d always felt closer to him. After all, she had more in common with him than her mother. Devon and Charlotte were more like the woman, which was probably the reason she never could find anything too wrong with them.
Her mother ordered them all to sit so they could eat together before the ceremony. Devon tore open a roll and slathered it with salty butter from the dish in front of Charlotte, causing her to scowl at him as he reached over her plate. He laughed at her irritation. Although he was trying not to show it, Lorraine could see his usual blithe attitude was slightly rattled today. Their parents didn’t seem to notice as they were handling their own private anxieties.
Charlotte looked to be handling things better than the rest of them. It must have been easy for her to accept the possibility of being picked out of that glass bowl. Between her and Lorraine, she was more physically capable of taking care of herself in the Hunger Games. These last few months she’d spent helping her father, she’d developed more muscle along her arms and legs and was just as strong as Devon. She was a force to be reckoned with among the fisherwomen in the district, surely the Games would not be difficult for her.
Lorraine swallowed a spoonful of the creamy soup her mother made, mulling this over. She scolded herself for thinking this way, for even bringing the idea of her sister being picked into existence. A pang of guilt went through her.
Eventually, the siren called for everyone to make their way to the town square and the steady conversation at the table halted to a stop. Lorraine tried not to let her hands shake too much. Their father put his napkin down and cleared his throat.
“Join hands.” His voice was firm, but only to hide the nerves. They did as they were told and looked to their parents. Lorraine focused on her father and sister’s hands in her own, using them as an anchor to ensure she didn’t spiral. Their mother was never good with this sort of thing, always opting to let her husband do the talking.
“We love you all, very much,” he said lowly. “Good luck today and remember that we’re always with you.”
The town square was crowded by the time they arrived. Lorraine stood behind Charlotte in line to sign in and squeezed her finger as tightly as she could, hoping to numb it a bit before the finger prick. There was a gentle chatter floating in the air as children found their spots and parents socialized. Many of them weren’t worried, District 4 was often lush with volunteers. The thought eased Lorraine’s racing mind a bit.
“Next.” The woman at the desk said. Lorraine gave the woman her hand and winced when the needle pricked her finger, scanning the crowd for her friends. When the woman ushered her along, she rushed to where she spotted her friend Cecily.
“Your brother looks handsome,” was the first thing the blonde girl said, staring ahead at the stage. She glanced at Lorraine with a smile before turning back to the stage. The other girl rolled her eyes before looking at the stage herself. “What are you looking for?” She asked.
Cecily scoffed as if this was a foolish question. “Finnick Odair!”
The mention of his name made Lorraine perk up. “I forgot!” She now scanned the stage, looking for him as well. Charlotte, who stood behind them, spoke up.
“He’s not there yet.” She reported, being taller than both of them. “Besides Cecily, he already said he doesn’t like blondes.” Cecily turned to her quickly.
“He didn’t say that!” She then turned to Lorraine. “Did he say that?”
“It’s true,” Charlotte answered. “I heard it myself, in an interview.”
Cecily let out a hmph. “I don’t believe you for a second Charlotte!” She crossed her arms superiorly. “I’ll just have to ask him myself when I volunteer.” Charlotte turned to the girl in surprise.
“You’re going to volunteer?” Lorraine had shared her surprise when her friend had first shared this news with her weeks ago. She never thought Cecily would be the type to do such a thing. Imagining the skinny girl with a ruffled dress in the arena made her want to laugh.
“Yup. My father had a training room put in last month.” Charlotte nodded, somewhat impressed.
“Well, good luck when you get there,” She said, sounding relieved that at least they would be safe. “And try not to fall on stage, I would hate for you to embarrass yourself in front of Finnick!” She said the boy’s name with a mocking tone. Cecily shot her one last scowl before the microphone was tapped harshly.
Lorraine looked back up to the stage, silently asking whoever was listening to keep Cecily safe. They’d been friends for a few years now and she would have liked to see her again.
“Good afternoon!” The District 4 escort was a tall, thin woman named Freesia Fallows. She wore a wide, green fan around her neck, giving her the appearance of an angry lizard. “Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor.”
Drowning out the dramatic music that played from the repetitive origin story of the Games, Lorraine scanned the other faces on stage and found the one she’d been searching for. Cecily found it as well, nudging her subtly. For the last few years, the only part of the Reaping worth getting worked up over was Finnick Odair. He was practically golden in the sunlight that peeked under the awning above and it seemed that even the summer day was trying to catch a glimpse of him.
Lorraine and Cecily had followed his Games closely, always eager to see the older boy’s face on their television. Cecily’s mother didn’t particularly enjoy that they were watching him violently eliminate his fellow Tributes, but they weren’t paying much attention to the action.
“It is time to select one young woman and one young man to represent District 4 in the 68th Annual Hunger Games!” Freesia made her way over to the bowl full of girls’ names. Lorraine glanced at Cecily, waiting to hear how she would declare her volunteering. Knowing her, she’d want to wait until a name was called so she could step in courageously. Lorraine smiled at the thought. Freesia returned to the front of the microphone and opened the slip of paper she selected. She cleared her throat.
“Lorraine Cortez.”
Lorraine let out a small laugh. What were the chances? She was sure Devon and her parents were panicking. With a small smile, she turned to Cecily.
“Go ahead,” She whispered. “This is your chance!” The blonde girl was not smiling back. She looked like she’d seen a ghost, her naturally pale face almost translucent now. Lorraine nudged her. Maybe she hadn’t heard.
“Lorraine Cortez?” Freesia called out once more.
“Cecily, you have to tell them.” When she received no response besides a few shuddering breaths, she turned to Charlotte. Big, dark eyes identical to hers were filled with horror. She had always been able to read people quickly and realized the problem long before Lorraine did. Realization washed over the younger girl just then as she looked at her friend.
“Cecily…” She said, her tone soaked with fear. “Cecily, come on.” Cecily turned to her, looking like a scolded child.
“I’m sorry,” her voice trembled. “I’m sorry, I can’t.”
The woman from the sign-in desk pointed Lorraine out to the Peacekeepers and they marched over to her row.
“Cecily!” She screamed as they grabbed her by her arms and dragged her away. She tried to hold onto Charlotte’s hand as long as she could but was ripped away from her. Her hair came unpinned as the Peacekeepers set her down in the aisle. Two more joined them and formed a square around her, blocking her in all directions. She faced the crowd of adults and found her parents. Her mother wore the same stunned look Cecily had. Her father had a hand clamped over his mouth and was shaking slightly. Lorraine had never seen her father cry before and it only frightened her more.
“Come on honey!” Freesia called. The Peacekeepers began to move forward in unison, ushering Lorraine forward to the stage. She clasped her hands to hide, hoping that would hide their trembling. Getting up the stairs felt like climbing a mountain. She caught a glimpse of Finnick from the corner of her eye. She wanted to run to him and ask him to save her, somehow. Finally, she stood next to Freesia.
“Perfect! Moving on…” The woman trailed off, heels clicking in the direction of the boys’ glass bowl. Lorraine stared out at the crowd. Cecily was red in the face, crying profusely. Charlotte stared back helplessly. She tried to find Devon in the crowd, but couldn’t quite see him in the back with the eighteen-year-olds.
Freesia returned with the final slip of paper and read it loud and clear to the microphone.
“Devon Cortez.”
Lorraine wasn’t sure what was louder, the collective sigh of relief from the boys or the single cry from her mother. This had to be some sick joke. She waited patiently for a male volunteer, but one never came. A sob sounded from the girls’ side and Lorraine’s eyes shot to see who it was.
Vidia. Of course.
The dark-haired girl was held by the girl next to her as she watched Devon march stoically up to the stage. He avoided his sister’s eyes and took his place on the other side of Freesia.
“May I present the Tributes of District 4,” She announced. “Lorraine Cortez and Devon Cortez!” Tears threatened to spill from Lorraine’s eyes. She looked at Charlotte, who shook her head. Don’t cry, she was saying. Lorraine nodded.
“Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor!”

Can I get some sort of sweet domestic fluff with Larry? Like he’s actually got a day or two off to spend with his spouse? Does he do anything besides catch up on sleep?
cw: fluff
Larry felt stunned when he pulled out his phone to check his planner to figure out his schedule for today. It was unreal to him when he saw two “No work today” written in the To-Do fields. He felt stunned. A true day off…
What should he do? Well, if he gave it some proper thought…
He proceeded to pass back out.
Finally… Sweet, sweet sleep.
Though, he woke up not much later to a gentle hand shaking him awake. You kneeled beside him with a sweet smile. Larry yawned as he brought a hand up to rub his eyes. “I made breakfast,” you told him, “I tried… Uh, the kind you really like, but I'm not too sure how I did.” Larry blinked a few times before nodding and leaving the warmth of the comforter. As he headed out, his Staprator gave a caw at him from his perch. It felt so strange being at his home still.
The businessman followed you into the kitchen and sat down at the table. To his complete amazement, the table was full of dishes. Rice, grilled fish, soup, an omelette, some sort of vegetable dish and a pickled radish. How long had this taken you? He was already drooling. It had been too long since he last had a Johto style breakfast. His preferred taste in foods, not really a secret to those who knew him, despite his usual facade.
“Ah. Thanks,” his usual tired monotone came out against his clear excitement for the food, “You really didn't have to do all this. I would have been fine with a Paldean breakfast…” He may have a preference towards foods from Johto and Kanto, but he was well aware cooking that style was not easy nor were the ingredients that common in Paldea.
“It's nothing,” you told him while taking your seat at the table with him, “I was just amazed that you actually have a day off and wanted to surprise you with something nice.” Larry gave a curt nod before eagerly going in to enjoy the food. He felt delighted to have such a good meal after finally getting caught up on his lost sleep somewhat. You gave another sweet smile at him.
~
Larry shifted as you laid your head on his shoulder. Some food show played on the television, mostly as background noise for his nap. You had managed to weasel yourself onto the couch with him. His arm had come to rest across your shoulders, and you had one thrown across his chest. There was going to be no nap in this position. He sighed and let his free hand come to hold the one you had tossed across his chest.
He would admit that this was a pleasant change from spending his whole day off napping. Cuddling with you after his long, stressful hours had become something that he looked forward to. The show seemed less boring now as he focused more on the feeling of you pressed against him warmly.
~
“Uhh, love, you really don't have to do this,” Larry groaned as you leaned over him from behind. Your hands pressed against his exposed shoulders, having taken to wearing a tank top due to the summer heat. It felt pleasant to have you press your thumbs into the tense muscles of his back, but he did not want you to feel obligated to do such a thing.
You gave a scoff at him and continued your massage on his shoulders. He had taken to complaining about his back recently. The businessman grew lax at your touch and let out a soft moan. A smug feeling bubbled up in your chest. Larry accepted his fate of being forced to relax for now. “Thank you,” he spoke as you dug your thumbs into a particularly tense spot, “I'm already feeling a lot better.” You rolled your eyes.
“It'd be better if I could do your whole back, Larry,” you told him, “Come on, lay down. I want to make you feel born anew when you go back to the office.” The dark-haired man finally relented to you. It seemed you were just going to dote on him, no matter how much he insisted you did not need to.
~
“Hmm, do you think Staraptor would like this toy?” you asked Larry as you both perused the shopping district of Medali. He gave a look at the stuffed Tandemaus toy. Nodding, he placed it in the basket. Somehow, you both ended up walking around a pokemon care shop. He stocked up on extra food for his teams, and you investigated the toys. While he tried to play with them when he could, he knew that you could manage it much better than his capabilities.
You were close to his side as you both gazed at a tunnel toy. Instantly, you turned to him with pleading eyes. “Larry, Dudunsparce would that,” you told him plainly. He nodded and reached out to pick it up. He could already see the little snake burrow into it excitedly. It felt a bit embarrassing to admit you nearly knew his pokemon as well as he did.
“Ah… We should get more nesting materials for Altaria,” he suddenly remembered, snapping out from his thoughts, “She's been a bit broody lately…” You giggled at his words. A few people had gathered around you both, gazing at him with concerned expressions. He could only wonder why.
~
Larry felt nervous as you handed him some tomatoes. Why had he let you talk him into helping you cook dinner? An urge to ask you to instead go with him to the Treasure Eatery had to be suppressed. A challenger might somehow recognise him and attempt to battle him on his day off. He carefully diced them according to your request. He left the actual cooking part to you. The smell of spices hung heavily in the air as you seasoned the meat you were cooking.
“… It was nice spending the day with you,” you told him suddenly as he continued into chopping the lettuce, “I wish we could have more time together.” Larry found himself ready to nod along to your words but stopped himself.
“Me, too,” he decided to give a verbal reply, “I really enjoyed today. It was better than just sleeping my day off away.” You chuckled and moved the meat off the heat before moving a sauce of some sort onto it.
“I know you wanted to, though,” you sighed, “Geeta wants to work you to do death, I think. You should really talk to her about that.” He did nod that time, unsure what to say. His boss was a difficult person to speak to like that. She made her disappointment obvious in him. You finished your cooking and quickly arranged everything on plates. Larry took his own to the table with you following after him.
“I'll try to talk to her about getting more time off,” Larry said suddenly, to your shock, “I know you feel neglected by my work schedule.” You tried to walk back your statement, but the salaryman was not dumb. He slowly reached out to grab your hand. “I doubt she'll do it, but… Well, I want more sleep and time with you,” he let himself break his facade a bit, “I love you, dear.” You felt relieved by his words.
“I love you, too, Larry,” you leaned over to kiss him.
His night was spent cuddled up with you in bed, completely unconscious.
In fact, he slept so well that he slept through his alarm the following morning.
Ah, he thought, Geeta definitely won't listen to him now.

love conquers all
chapter 1
Summary: Neteyam is an up and coming warrior who would do anything for his people. With you at his side, as his mate, you find yourself troubled with his ways, no matter how much he reassures you. But in the end love conquers all
setting: Metkayina islands
Characters: aged up to 18!, Neteyam x Metkayina reader!
A/N: This is my first time ever writing and posting something on here LOL. i have no idea how to use tumblr very well so if anyone could message me some tips on maybe how to freshen up my page more that’d be nice! looking forward to writing on here sm more! i kind of wanted to start writing more to expand my vocabulary too since my english isnt the best. Also this will be an ongoing series and i do accept request wether it’s nsfw or sfw ! :)
warnings: nothing really just fluff
it was early in the morning, the sun rose, gently peeking through the seagrass woven curtains, kissing your blue skin. Beside you lay a very dozed off Neteyam, arm slung around your stomach, and his slow breath kissing the back of your neck. You slowly rose, careful not to wake your somnolent mate. he quietly groaned, turning the other way quickly falling unconscious again. you walked over to the corner of the marui where you eat. You began to fix the fire to heat up the fish for you and Neteyam’s breakfast when you suddenly felt two large hands from above on your shoulders. You snapped your head and gasped but quickly relaxed your body when your realized it was only him.
“Good morning my love”
you dropped the wood and rose from the ground to stand face to face with him (not really considering the slight height difference)
“good morning Neteyam”
he laughed but you could tell he was in pain.
The night prior, Neteyam had just come back from a big raid with the Metkayina’s and the sully family. Thankfully nobody had died this time, but many were injured, including him. Bruises kissed his face and down his chest, he had large cuts on his sides that you had patched up last night, and he was awfully exhausted.
seeing he could almost barely walk himself, you offered support by slinging his arm over your neck and leading him back to the bed
“No y/n i am okay. i must go see how the other villagers are doing”
he said gently removing your arm
“’teyam.”
you said sternly, but gently while placing a hand on his cheek. he leaned into your touch and smiled, he always liked when you got worried about him. And you were ALWAYS worried about him.
“i am okay my love.”
he said inching towards you more. He put both of his bruised hands on your hips and put his forehead to yours
“i will be okay y/n. i promise”
he said and gently kissed you. you both broke the kiss and you sighed. you wish he would put himself first sometimes, he never takes care of himself. he is always worried about the others. Which is what a warrior is supposed to do and theres nothing wrong with that, but you were getting worried at how little he does for himself.
[forward two weeks]
You stepped out of your marui pod to get some fresh air. You looked around at the beautiful watery scenery around you and took deep breaths of the fresh air. You felt refreshed today. In the corner of your eye you saw splashing, and when you turned your head Neteyam came into sight ahead. He was playing with some of the Metkayina kids, splashing them and chasing them around making monster noises and grabbing them playfully. The kids were clearly having the time of their life, screaming and laughing and running around. The sight made your heart flutter.
Neteyam had fully healed, and thankfully there hasnt been any raids recently, which helped him to fully heal and rest his body as well. You watched as the kids attacked Neteyam, crawling all over him until he fell into the water and surrendered while the kids continued grabbing at his braids and laughing. You let out a little giggle which caused Neteyam to look up and notice you standing there finally.
“ouch! hey!”
he said laughing and wincing in pain from all the kids pulling his hair
you giggled again, putting your hand over your mouth out of shyness. He smiled, trying to stand up and shake off all the kids crawling on his body. you let out a tribe call to get their attention
“OA-AYA, children! it is meal time go back to the village and clean up!”
you yelled to them from the shore
the children quickly released neteyam and scattered back to the village, shaking the water from their bodies as they walked. You walked over to Neteyam and reached an arm out to help him up, as he was on his hands in knees in the water, he grabbed your arm and pulled you down into the water with him, laughing.
“Neteyam!”
you yelled trying to catch your breath
“And that is for not saving me from those kids sooner”
he said with a big smile on his face. you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms, turning your back to him with a grin on your face.
Behind you, you heard the water move and then two arms wrapping around your waist, and his head resting on your shoulder
“what are you thinking about love”
he said burying his face into your neck, inhaling the sweet and salty scent of your braids
“i enjoy seeing you like this ‘teyam. happy. ever since the raids stopped you have been very happy. And i know that soon you will have to go back to doing them again.”
His fingers dug slightly harder into your stomach
“y/n, i have to. If i do not, who will protect the people? It is what warriors have to do. I have to not only protect the people, but i have to protect you. If i fail to protect you i would never ever forgive forgive myself”
he gently kissed your neck again, earning a sigh from you.
(to be continued lol)
i definitely want this to be a series so i hope this doesn’t flop tbh
