i hate him. lord i hate him i wanna bite him so bad what the fuck LITERALLY WHO ???? DECIDED THAT HE DESERVED TO BE THIS PRETTY ???? i want to bite him

OKAY BUT SIMPING THOUGHTS ASIDE. i actually really really love this guy's character because not only does he give me ptsd of my teachers, he's both an asshole yet a genuinely kind person and i really really love that. it's like he has good intentions yet also has an ego and doesn't care to sugarcoat things and is stupidly blunt to the point of being rude, yet it's because he believes in getting straight to the point and is upfront. he'll play mind games but he's honest, he'll play chess with himself while wearing a head that makes it so bro can't see like ???? HE'S SO SILLY I LOVE HIM

AND HER. OH LORD HER. listen i may not be attracted to this woman but that doesn't mean i can't love her design and character and want to buy her corndogs (she'll ignore my ass LMAOO)

because the thing with ruan mei is that she's detached from emotions itself and doesn't understand what it means to love another, but she's also hella cruel because of it. like i'm not going to excuse her, there's some document that says that she experimented on something once to the point where it literally committed suicide like ???????

Gentle reminder that very little fandom labor is automated, because I think people forget that a lot.

That blog with a tagging system you love? A person curates those tags by hand.

That rec blog with a great organization scheme and pretty graphics? Someone designed and implemented that organization scheme and made those graphics.

That network that posts a cool variety of stuff? People track down all that variety and queue it by hand, and other people made all the individual pieces.

That post with umpteen links to helpful resources, and information about them? Someone gathered those links, researched the sources, wrote up the information about them.

That graphic about fandom statistics? Someone compiled those statistics, analyzed them, organized them, figured out a useful way to convey the information to others, and made the post.

That event that you think looks neat? Someone wrote the rules, created the blogs and Discords, designed the graphics, did their best to promo the event so it'd succeed.

None of this was done automatically. None of it just appears whole out of the internet ether.

I think everyone realizes that fic writing and fanart creation are work, and at least some folks have got it through their heads that gif creation and graphics and moodboards take effort, and meta is usually respected for the effort that goes into it, at least as far as I've seen, but I feel like a lot of people don't really get how much labor goes into curation, too.

If people are creating resources, curating content, organizing the creations of others, gathering information, and doing other fandom activities that aren't necessarily the direct action of creation, they're doing a lot of fandom labor, and it's often largely unrecognized.

Celebrate fan work!

To folks doing this kind of labor: I see you, and I thank you. You are the backbones of our fandoms and I love you.

i really like how canonically yuu is genuinely supportive of grim wanting to be a great mage. if i recall correctly, even character voice lines point this out. and it seems like yuu dotes on grim a lot and defends him too??? yuu even encourages grim's ambitions whenever he declares wanting to be a great mage. and also when he does that boss-henchhuman dynamic. i mean yeah you can interpret it as yuu saying that being condescending and sarcastic as if they're talking to a child saying "when i grow up i want to be famous!" but like. i really think they're genuine when mc loves grim in their own way.

even if grim is usually a menace, he's become like family to yuu.

and i'm pretty sure grim feels the same way.

think about it this way. despite all the mess, all the unpredictability, the danger, and all the drama being in nrc. what's always the constant? yuu goes home at the end of the day to the ramshackle dorm (basically their home at this point considering they slowly but surely fix it up over time) and with who? “the great mage” grim. as the sole outcasts in that academy, they both sleep soundly knowing they will always have each other at the end of the day.
