"Reborn" by Seth Haddon

Haddon has a fantastic talent for building worlds and cultures that feel real.

There's a lot of attention given to detail, but I never felt like the information has been dumped on my head.

The characters felt unique and were fun to read.

I loved the relationship development in this book. It had such a wonderful strangers to friends to soulmates dynamic!

If you're a fan of queer fantasy, you will definetly enjoy this one.

Saw a post a few seconds ago that gave me this idea and I just had to share it!

Fic where Percabeth die and end up reincarnated in the BSD world as Soukoku. Which one is which I leave up to the author but mostly because I can see either half of Percabeth being either Dazai or Chuuya. They do keep some of their powers and instincts from their past life as well as some memories, such as the memories of each other (makes their BSD meeting hilarious if you do it from both theirs and Hirotsu's pov).

Tsuna's Omega instincts had placed Lambo firmly as his son even before they learned he couldn't see green. It was why Iemtisu nearly lost his eyes when the man tried to make Lambo Tsuna's Guardian. Reborn found the whole thing funny and never brought it up otherwise, other then to test Tsuna out with how he'd react to things.

Tsuna had been raised by a neglectful mother and an absent father. He'd never been forced to obey Omega rules, rather he got to be as wild and free as he could. It made him vicious, which was why even with the seal he'd had Hibari around. Reborn was delighted, and enjoyed setting Tsuna on people, especially suitors. (Some were of the opinion Soulmates weren't to be considered which Tsuna disagreed with. He wanted to see if it was romantic before looking at anyone else.) Tsuna was violent, more so when his son got involved. He loved Lambo so much, as he also loved Fuuta and I-Pin, claiming them all.

So, arriving in the future after a mishap with the Bazooka to see Lambo cuddling in a pile with an Alpha who had green sparks coming from him? Tsuna nodded his head as the Alpha radiated angry Papa Wolf vibes.

"You're my soulmate?" he asked the man.

"Yeah," Spanner said back, eyeing the child version of his soulmate. "I'm in England."

"I'll find you," Tsuna promised, sitting down on the bed to pet the hair of the older Lambo. "He's an Omega?"

"Yep, needs lots of pack cuddles," Spanner chuckled, watching his soulmate sleepily. He loved to observe the fluffy man, and seeing him as a teenager again was nice.

He wondered about his younger counterpart, who hadn't met Tsuna yet. Spanner didn't remember this happening, or hearing of it so it had to be an alternate universe. Hopefully younger Spanner dealt with the threats properly when they came.

He couldn't lose Tsuna.

“The Bakugos are coming.” Inko's words hit Izuku like a punch to the gut. He stops in his tracks, his body tensing up as his mind races with thoughts of Katsuki Bakugo. Despite his internal turmoil, Izuku forces himself to smile at his mother. As he turns back to his work, his hands shake slightly, causing him to chop the food a bit too roughly. Memories of the sludge incident flood back, and he can't help but frown. He remembers how Katsuki had avoided him after the incident; there was no visit from them. Was Izuku already changing the past, not even twenty-four hours after arriving? Did his mother panic because he came home later than usual and call Mitsuki?

“Maybe you and Kastuki-kun can talk about U.A.? Mitsuki said that he applied too.” Inko's suggestion catches Izuku off guard, and he holds back a scoff.

"I'm not going to U.A.," he replies, trying to keep any bitterness out of his voice. Suddenly, there's a loud bang, and Izuku spins around to find Inko looking shocked. "Mom!" he cries out in concern, rushing to her side. He inspects her for any injuries, relieved to find none.

"Did someone hurt you? Did they say something to you, Izu-kun? Mommy will fight them!" In spite of the seriousness of the situation, Izuku can't help but giggle at the thought of his mother taking on the entire hero community and even All Might himself. However, he quickly shuts down those thoughts. There's no need for him to entertain those particular memories.

Izuku holds onto his mother, trying to soothe her. "I'm fine, Mom," he assures her. "No one said anything. I just realized that there are more ways to be a hero than going to some fancy school and looking pretty for the media." Inko's expression softens as she listens to Izuku's words, and he can see her calming down.

"I'm applying to Yurugasu," Izuku continues. "It's a high school focused on kids that are exceptionally smart, quirk or no quirk." Inko hesitates for a moment before smiling hesitantly, and Izuku lets her step away from him. He watches her closely as she processes the information.

He remembers that in the past, it was Inko who suggested the school after the disaster at U.A. It was because she had attended the school herself when she was a kid. Inko beams at him, and a few of her stress lines seem to miraculously disappear as what he said really settles in her mind.

Izuku feels bad that his desire to be a hero stressed his mother out so much. He feels even worse knowing that she will be even more stressed when she finds out about his connection with the mafia.

Random fact on Toji and Fon

AKA evening realizations lol

I just realized after posting the fourth chapter of rewrite the stars that I unintentionally drew paralells between Toji and Fon. Like:

Both born in Jujutsu Clans.

Both have Heavenly Restriction and Flames (I headcanon Toji as having Cloud Flames in this shared universe).

Both have criminal connections.

Both have monikers among the Jujutsu Society.

The diffrence between them is what while Fon was also looked down upon for his lack of Cursed Energy, he had a supportive family that accepted him for who he is. Even after losing them, he pulled through for Kyoya, the only living family he has left. Toji, as we known, wasn't lucky in that aspect, and reverted to his old ways after Megumi's mom passed away, and was like that until he lost to Gojo.

Okay okay day seven yeah? How about Gokudera with a soulmate au where you only start to see colours/hear clearly once you met them and fell in love? Would he treat his every day differently? Would he look for them or even try to avoid them? Would he treat people differently? And whats his reaction when he one day notices his senses being sharpened?

Okay, so I don’t know if I’m dumb and just really misunderstanding the request, but from how this is written and worded, it does sound like your senses don’t really come to you until you fall in love with your soulmate. It’s not that you meet them, and your senses start to fall into place, but you actually have to meet them, get to know them, and genuinely fall in love with them for this to happen.

Going with this assumption, it’s honestly going to be a long time after Gokudera actually meets his soulmate for this to happen. As I’ve mentioned previously in posts about him, I do think that he has some fears about committed romantic relationships and does tend to avoid them, so his soulmate could literally be right in front of his nose for years as just someone in his life or someone in his circle and he wouldn’t know it because he just hasn’t gotten to the point yet where he really does feel comfortable getting to know them in that way or on that level yet.

Even once he does get to a headspace and an acceptance level of wanting to get into a relationship with the person he will come to find out is his soulmate, it’s going to be slow going, as Gokudera does take a while to fully trust someone, even a romantic partner, and he can’t truly fall in love with someone until he trusts them. Even when they do build trust and good communication, it will still be a little while before he finds himself letting go of his issues and fears enough to fall in love with his partner.

Now, when he does realize that he’s starting to see colours and that his hearing is sharpening, it doesn’t really take him long at all to figure out what is happening. He’s a really intelligent man and even as emotionally constipated as he can be at times, he’s quick enough to realize that his romantic partner is the one he’s falling in love with and that they must be his soulmate for these changes to be happening.

If simply falling in love with someone wasn’t scary enough for Gokudera, with all the humongous risks it brings (the risk of rejection and his partner not feeling the same way, the risk of things not working out in the end and his heart getting broke, the risk of falling even deeper in love and things working out, only for something bad to happen to his partner because of him and for his whole world to break then), add to that learning that the person he’s falling in love with is his soulmate, the one and only other person in the entire universe truly made for him and who will ever truly complete him?? It’s taking all those risks and cranking the anxiety around them up to a billion and I honestly could see Gokudera really not being okay with that. He’ll start avoiding his partner, start going out of his way to not talk to them or not to see them, staying at a hotel if they were sharing an apartment, not answering their calls, making everyone else tell his partner that he’s just really too busy to talk to them and to give him time if they come around asking for him. He’s not really sure he’s ready for any of this and he needs time to think about it, to get his head on, because there’s a huge part of him that wants to run away or avoid this whole soulmate thing, to push it and all the worries and risks and commitments it brings as far away from himself as possible. But there’s another part of him that already hurts being away from them, that already finds the missing them heartbreaking and there’s a part of him that feels hollow without them already and who wants nothing more than just to be with them, risks or no risks.

I do think, in the end, that part of him that craves to be with them will rule out in the end, but as said, it really will take him time to get there, and his soulmate will have to be incredibly understanding while he takes that time.
