the way alex says "i wouldnt mind doing this again" while holding hands with henry and his eyes are so soft SCREAMING "i might be having butterflies because i like doing this with you" and suddently he goes all "oh" because henry just said "we just have to keep it very casual" after giving alex THAT ALSO SOFT SMILE, as if he wasnt having butterflies himself because the love of his life is there staring at him in the eyes and he better not have the audacity to love henry back

The face Alex makes... the one he makes when he's telling his mom he's sorry... when he's in the closet with Henry and the story starts to unfold... the one he makes on the couch when Henry asks about the key... or when he says he doesn't know how to play Polo and it seems Henry won't ask him to come now... when Henry takes his coat off and turns to sit it down before their first time... when he's looking out the window after Paris... when he's watching Henry sing... after his dad tells him sometimes you gotta jump... when Henry says he doesn't have a loving, supportive family like Alex does... when he's hugging Henry goodbye and wants to kiss him... when he takes the sip of whiskey after Zahra leaves the couch... when Shaan says the King wants to see them... when the King pops off on Alex speaking up to him... when they look through the glass at the people before going out onto the balcony... when he looks at Henry after the election speech...
it's like an innocent, uncertain, nervous face... and yeah I think about ALL of them often

"Please, tell me another joke." Ellen says. "I want so badly for you to explain to me how this is funny."
Alex opens his mouth and closes it a couple of times.
"He started it," he says finally. "I barely touched him - he's the one who pushed me, and I only grabbed him to try and catch my balance, and - "
"Sugar, I cannot express to you how much the press does not give a fuck about who started what," Ellen says. "As your mother, I can appreciate that maybe this isn't your fault, but as the president, all I want is to have the CIA fake your death and ride the dead-kid sympathy into a second term."
