murderbot is peak queer rep because it’s about living as an inherently transgressive form of being, it’s about the complexity of passing, or the complexity of hiding, or the nuance of never fitting binaries and not wanting to even when fitting those binaries is seen as “better”, and it’s about making people uncomfortable just by existing, it’s about measuring forms of freedom and having to decide which you’ll save and which you’ll sacrifice. but most importantly it’s peak queer rep because murderbot is free for like five minutes and it immediately attracts the nearest supposedly-rare transgressive-illegal-superbot (ART) in a hundred light year radius to be its best friend, and what’s that if not your classic Queer On Queer Magnetism
i’m so sick of writers who proudly proclaim that they don’t read and directors and actors and other filmmakers who smugly say that they rarely watch movies or any artist who acts like an audience is stupid for connecting with their work like what the fuck is wrong with you that you hold such contempt such derision for the art that you have chosen to make the art that so many people dream of the opportunity to make the art that brings meaning and connection to people’s lives it’s unbelievably disrespectful to both your audience and the art-form and if you can’t muster basic respect for either your art-form or your audience then kindly fuck off and do something else
So I was getting lost in a Merlin Wiki rabbit hole, as one does, and I stumbled across the page for spells. And turns out the writers actually put a lot more thought into it than I initially thought (they're not actually just shouting random words in Old English). But what shocked me the most was learning what Merlin was actually saying to Arthur while he was unconcious in the Poisoned Calice episode. I always thought he was trying to enchant some sort of protection spell to keep Arthur safe while he couldn't be there for him. But turns out he was actually declaring poetry, POETRY to Arthur the whole time!
That's right, Merlin was declaring actual POETRY to Arthur on his deathbed!! I kept seeing the wiki mention verses from a book called Beowulf and I got curious so after a quick Google search, I found out that it's actually one of the most famous epic poems in Old English and I just lost it!! I never thought this episode could get any gayer...
In my sleeplessness last night, I decided to note down every time Uncletello says "I'll fix it" or some variation of it since it's used quite a bit! I didn’t do every time Donnie’s repaired something or tried to find a solution because that’s like the whole comic 💀 so I just focused on the use of the word fix in relation to him. THE RESULTS:
Donnie’s always been the one who handles repairing things and helping his family and doing things for them is his love language. But, his idea of “fixing” really picks up when he’s sick and when he’s trying to get his brothers back. He’s the fix it guy and he tries to do what he does best when he gets anxious. He mends, repairs, he improves and adjusts, he fixes, or at least he tries to, even if the thing he sets out to fix seems impossible or large, like fixing the planet or aging or DEATH. Anything for his family, even everything. I just think it’s interesting that that word in particular is used so often with him!
I also think it’s interesting that during Donnie’s death absence, Casey uses “fix” in the same grand and determined way that his uncle does. It makes me think that Casey’s come to associate “I’ll fix it” with “everything is gonna be okay” because that’s what it means whenever Donnie uses it. He says that everything is gonna be okay, and in one way or another, he usually ends up being right.
I know it's been said a million times before, but holy shit, Captain America: The Winter Soldier really does have one of the most epic romances of all time.
I mean, the twist
And the inevitable heartbreak...
The part where everything's all f-ed up and it seems like nothing's gonna work out
And don't even get me started on the declaration of love/'I'd literally rather die right this second than live without you'/marriage vow...
Then there's the pure artistry of the parallel they draw with The First Avenger, only this time it's Bucky watching Steve fall
Only for them to finally (sort of, almost, if you squint a bit, shut up, I need this) reunite at the end...
Have you ever done this one..? What Pokémon do you think Link and Zelda (or other characters) might like?
i feel like shiny zacian is literally made for link. perfect color palette, sword theme, etc etc. and also a shiny galarian rapidash bc the boy needs a horse and i think he would be a fairy type trainer :)
“He’s here!!! He’s here. So cute and handsome, Yuuri. I’ve waited so long…and he looks so soft, even cuter. OMG OMG what do I do now. ?!?! Wait, don’t panic…we’re Russian, we don’t panic.”
VIKTOR NIKIFOROV WAS A MAN ON A MISSION.
“Calm down, Vitya. This is your moment, remember Sochi.”
“That’s right, I've been waiting for this since then, to see again the boy who made me feel passion for the first time in a long time…Imma seduce Katsuki Yuuri.”
*Stops blushing, now focused. Oozing every ounce of confidence and attractiveness practiced for 20 years, he thinks of this as a choreography but this time to win Yuuri. And he ALWAYS delivers*
“OH IT WORKED, HES LOOKING AT ME. YES, VIKTOR FUCKING NIKIFOROV, HES YOURS NOW. SO CUTE WHEN BLUSHING. MINE MINE MINE”
*Blushing again, owning the most extra and flirty move he's pulled in his life*
Analysis of the important little detail of this scene: Viktor Nikiforov blushing as Yuuri Katsuki got in the hot springs.
