I am just coming off of a heavy burnout period so I am so excited to jump back in and write, just be warned I do have a job so replies during the day may be sporadic, but normally I will reply daily, even if its just Out of character chatting, I enjoy sending pinterest boards, playlists, edits and all that.

Crossovers arent necessarily required I just enjoy them, keep things interesting.

RESIDENT EVIL

Oneish hour of gameplay and I want to post about it.

This is a callout of Chris Redfield for wearing this cringe-ass tactical vest. You know there's nothing in those pockets but his keys and some granola bars. US Sherriff packing multiple guns to hand out speeding tickets looking motherfucker. He looks like a wannabe troop who gets kitted out in head-to-toe army surplus every time he goes to Wal-Mart. He looks like a tupla of every Male Action Hero from a 2002-2016 Hollywood movie set in a fictionalized version of Afghanistan and filmed in Nevada. He looks like he's going to try and sell me supplements and get me to eat nothing but unseasoned steak for a week. He looks like he just hopped out of his $200 000 pickup truck after filming himself with sunglasses on ranting to his phone camera in the parking lot of a strip mall.

Okay, with that out of my system, here are my actual thoughts:

The fixed perspective is super unsettling. How you view the player character jumps around constantly, fully outside your control, limiting your view to the space just around the player character. It often frames the player character at cinematic angles, forcing you to walk towards the camera or far off into the distance. It's very effective for horror, it doesn't let you adjust to your surroundings. Honestly, it's a bit of a challenge to get used to after years of gaming with either isometric perspective or full camera control, and all the more unsettling for how out of my depth it makes me feel.

Weapons are very limited, forcing you to evade and run rather than attack. Also, I'm fairly certain you can only take a handful of hits before that's it. I killed one (1) zombie. I'm not sure exactly what did it, the knife I used on it, the two clips of bullets I emptied into it or a combination.

The music is subtle, quite good, and really adds to the atmosphere. The voice acting and overall sound design can be a little goofy at times, but in a way I find charming.

As I move through the mansion, the environment changes in interesting ways. I came through this room earlier to find a dead raven in the birdcage to the right, and when I came through again, there were a whole bunch of live ravens croaking away. Classic haunted house shit.

Also, the you are dead screen whips. It's like the spinning graphic with shitty cgi blood and this low-budget slasher title card font. I love it.

Totally worth the five bucks I snagged it for.

Recently watched the first Resident Evil movie and it was predictably bizarre but I kind of love Alice. The more I think abt her after watching the more I realise that she is such a rezzie protag lmao. She's so lost and confused but also can do sick flips and fuck shit up <3 As funny as I think it is that she's meant to be a Rezzie Woman Composite I mean I guess it worked lol

In general I wouldn't say the film is special but it def works as a rezzie thing. There's silly little characters and CREACHERS and a goofy plot that I was too blasted to understand at the time. I really liked the creatures btw...the doggies and the Licker looked so good !!! Also shoutout to those little virus vials...looked so delicious tbh

I would've probably given it a subtitle to indicate it's an original thing in the same universe but like eh, I don't think it's as big a deal as some do. Once you get over the confusion of "Who is this woman and which re is this meant to be!?" it becomes real fun :)
