shuri and kenji parallels

When losing their familial figures, there’s a mantle left behind for them to take, even if they don’t want to. They mature and grow through these experiences and become stronger people despite the grief that their family leaves behind.

They even rekindle strained bonds in the process. When nakia left wakanda for 6 years and didn’t show up for tchalla’s funeral out of fear, shuri felt betrayed. She ignored her calls and even took her anger out on her when she returned. Kenji believed that his father abandoned him and his mother, even asking if he looked for her when she went missing. Once they stopped avoiding the communication necessary to understand each other’s perspectives and why they made these decisions, they were able to start healing.

Emi is among the last of her kind when kenji finds her. Toussaint is among the remaining people of the wakandan royal blood, the face of the indigenous nation that they’ve vowed to protect. Kenji and Shuri now take on the difficult responsibility as an elder of these young children and as the hero of their nations. They take it in stride because that’s what a hero does.

Shuri is Wakanda's youthful tech genius. The one people look to for new technology, for updates, for ... protection. She's innovative, creative and headstrong. Also incredibly stubborn and passionate; Shuri really is a goddamn trailblazer.

Yes, I know a lot of you weren't exactly expecting that. Shuri often breaks the rules, she is chaotic, which my first thought was - Chaotic Good. But she loves Wakanda, she loves her family and she has done everything to keep those traditions alive.

While Shuri respects these traditions and values, she is also shown to be open to change and adaptation.

Okay so this was really difficult because it's totally upto interpretation. I couldn't choose between Gemini, Aquarius or Aries for her Venus aspect. But ultimately, I've gone with Gemini. I know you might be thinking, 'jesus she's chosen gemini for so much,' but Shuri is like ... the embodiment of Gemini.

With the ever so fleeting moments of romance she had with Namor - Shuri brightens up when they're on the same communication level. I think there would be something about engaging conversations and a partner who can keep up with her quick-wittedness and diverse range of interests. Shuri would be attracted to individuals who can engage her intellectually and stimulate her curiosity.

If anyone hasn't yet watched Voices Rising: The Music of Wakanda Forever, I highly recommend doing so this weekend!

This will disappear from Disney+ on May 26th as part of Disney's purge.

It's only three episodes, less than 90 minutes all up. A wonderful insight into the effort and talents of the artists involved. I miss behind the scenes docos so much! 😭

I hope it'll still exist in some form after (Blu Ray features?) But it doesn't sound like any of these 50 shows will have a physical media release. (Willow is another surprising one being purged!)
