• To gain knowledge about the moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls in individual drops, also known as rain, Dr. Fox will conduct fun science experiments.

• She will create and build a small rain gauge robot to measure how much rain she will receive.

• The doctor will test the pH level of rainwater with a pH meter and compare it to liquids from different sources, such as tap water, juice, lake water, and pool water.

• This science fox will investigate how clouds form, where they come from, and what causes rain through a water cycle experiment.

• She will propose that her friends and her go on a scientific nature hunt!

��� She knows that after it stops raining, rainbows sometimes appear in the sky. She will want to do her research on why prisms produce rainbows and create an invention that makes prism rainbows. 🌈

🦅🕶️ Hawkodile:

• Rainy days don't bother him because they give him the chance to improve his combat training skills and witty one-liners in his treehouse.

• He intends to put together an indoor obstacle course using the ideas from his treehouse.

• With a flashlight, the green hawk-crocodile hybrid dude and his friends will create shadow shapes on the walls with their hands.

• He will imagine kissing Dr. Fox in the rain since it's considered romantic.

• Plays balloon ping-pong with Puppycorn!🏓🎈

• Since he's into all things EXTREME, he'll want for him and his friends to go camping in the great indoors. They have a great time! ⛺

Richard:

• He plans on staying dry on this rainy afternoon, so he's most definitely not going outside today. Nope, no way. Not happening.

• It can be very relaxing to listen to nature's music during a rainstorm, so he spends most of his time listening to the rain. He enjoys the soothing sounds.

• He might try knitting as there's nothing more cozy on a rainy day than a wooly sweater or scarf.

• The calming sound of raindrops causes him to take a nap.

• He warms up on the couch with some blankets while watching a documentary on the history of paperclips. 📎

• Makes a trip to the castle library to read some of his favorite old books.

Master Frown:

• When the low-level doom lord notices rain falling from his window, he gets excited! Seasonal showers tend to make people feel miserable, so he wants to see the sad looks of all the citizens for himself!

• He rushes downstairs and out the door past his boyfriend roommate Brock, who is playing video games on the couch.

• Outside, he sees that people are actually happy in the rain?! TIME TO MAKE THEM MISERABLE!

• After failing to cause distress, he heads back to his apartment where Brock recommends that they watch a classic black and white movie that is so bad it's good. He thought it would be funny to mock the scenes.

• Having nothing better to do, Frown sighs and agrees to watch this movie. He was gonna hate it. He just knew it.

• Master Frown is revealed to actually be enjoying the film (to his dismay), even consuming ice cream with Brock as comfort food to prevent the two from crying. Frown relates so much to the movie itself and the characters.

Brock:

The Wen Conversion - Sorry - The Wen Reality TV Show, Hosted by Wen Chao!

A modern cultivation au

It all starts long, long ago, aka before Wei ying, the cloud recesses released a documentary

It was a short, tranquil thing, focused on showcasing Lan principles and teachings to the general public

Much of the footage was gained during one of the cloud recesses summer classes, to highlight the calm learning that they were passing on to all clans within their gates

Naturally this show of “power” over the other sects greatly offended the Wens, even if their hate watching is probably the only reason it got so many views, as most people turned it off in the first fifteen min when they realized the beauty of the cloud recesses did not undo the boredom of the content

And also Madam Yu, who saw it as the perfect way to whip Wei ying into knowing his place - this backfired on the cloud recesses

Anyways, when the Wens have host *cough* blackmail everyone to show up *cough* classes, they decide to one up the cloud recesses in every way

Aka, they decide to film all their guests and turn their day to day life into a reality show!

Wen chao is the host, and quickly makes himself and wang lingjiao the stars

He’s clever about it too! (Or wangjiao is and he takes the credit) He noticed exactly what the cloud recesses show was missimg: Drama!

And what do you know, you can edit just about any situation to look like its a big deal when its not

Thus the general, noncultivation is allowed a glimpse into the lives of wealthy cultivators, complete with all the drama they’ve been longing for

Wen chao is the handsome and charming leader tryimg to bring these losers into line

Wang limgjiao is his lovely girlfriend and the most desireable woman in the world

Wen ning is a bumbling fool

Wen qing is a robot without a heart because she’s not attracted to wen chao

Mianmian is clearly in love with wen chao, because every good looking girl is, and tryinf to steal him from wang lingjiao

Lan zhan is a stiff freak who’s gay for jiang cheng (because wen chao strikes me as homophobic, and wants to embarrass the lans)

Wei ying totally broke up jin zuxian and jiang yanli because he’s in love with jiang yanli

Jin zuxian is an arrogant heartthrob who lost to wei ying and wants revenge

Jiang cheng is a loose canon who’s completely unreasonable and a horrible guy all around, so perfect for lan zhan

Nie hauisang is a silly airhead, as always

This show goes on for a few weeks, until wen ning lets wei ying know that its happening

That night of the prisoners pile in wei yings room and watch the show on wen ning’s phone

They are each horrified

Shijie????? Wei ying shrieks! They’re shipping me with my SISTER??? She’s my SISTER!!!!

“Jiang cheng.” Lan zhan says, but the utter frigitdity in his tone makes it very clear what he thinks of them shipping him with Jiang Cheng, when Wei Ying is RIGHT THERE!

Jiang cheng (angrily): I don’t get that Angry!!!!!

Jin zuxian: i’m not that arrogant!

But it is mianmian who takes it the worst, saying nothing, but face white as a sheet as she watches wen chao brag about possibly making her a side chick since she “likes him so much”

Wei ying notices, and promises Mianmian that they will find a way to protect her

Mianmian: how? He controls everything!

Nie huaisang: i don’t know, maybe we could use his need for drama in the show against him? But i don’t know. I really don’t know!

Everyone stops, looks and nie huaisang who is fanning himself.

Nie huaisang you are a genius, goes wei ying. “We need to make our own drama!

The plan is as follows. First, they need to minimize the amount of time wen chao spends near mianmian.

This will be run by wei ying, who will use his annoyingness to flirt with mianmian and challenge Wen chao to stupid games to impress her, distracting him so mianmian can sneak off to be with lan zhan

You gotta have a love story with lan zhan” wei ying insists “he’s so handsome, anyone would believe you’d pick him over wen chao. He doesn’t even compare! It will make great television”

“I am gay” lan xhan points out

“Yeah on the show. But not in real life.” Goes wei ying, digging his own grave. “Besides, who isn’t a little gay? Doesn’t stop u from being attracted to women!” (Says the oblivious bi)

Lan zhan is not impressed with this. At all. But he supposes he can stick close to mianmian to keep her away from wen chao. And also wei ying. Wei ying isn’t getting a love story while lan zhan is around

Thus starts the mianmian lovw triangle arc, a much loved arc of the show, were lan zhan is obviously in love with wei ying, and trying to sabatoge his chances with mianmian by “leading her on” so she won’t go with wei ying

Wei ying remains oblivious, aside from complimenting lan zhan extensively (in an attempt to prove his affections for his sister are completely platonic because he talks about all his friends like that) leading many to suspect it could be requilted

The shipping wars were brutal

As for jiang cheng, nie huaisang, and jin zuxuan, well, nie huaisang has a plan

Jin zuxuan has to be nice to wang lingjiao.

Don’t say anything!” Nie huaisang adds “just nodd at what she does and smile at her”

Jin zuxian: i know how to talk to women

Nie huaisang and mianmian together: no you don’t

What about me?” Jiang cheng asks

“Stop yelling so much,” nie hauisang advises, “and help wen ning out if u see him struggling. Everybody loves a bad boy with a hidden heart of gold.”

“I’ll give wen ning a make over” nie huaisang adds “we make him cute, and suddenly bulling him will make wen chao look bad. Wen qing…be exactly the same”

“I would have done it anyways” wen qing sniffs. “I’m not interested in this game”

What are you going to do?” Wen ning asks nie huaisang

“Me?” Nie huaisang flutters his fan. “I don’t know!! Maybe befriend wen chao and wang lingjiao? I really don’t know!!

And so nie huaisang gets to work

The wen ning makeover really does wonders, as does jiang cheng being nice to him. Soon they’re a beloved duo, and a popular ship

Meanwhile nie huaisang slides up to wang lingjiao, and after exchanging some pointless gossip, nie huaisang points out how odd it is that wen chao make lan zhan out to like jiang cheng, who isn’t nearly as good looking as jin zuxuan or wei ying. Almost like he thinks jiang cheng is handsome

Then he points out how wen chao seems to prefer “spirited” women

And finally to drive the nail in the coffin, he himts how men who’ve had to many women to easily begin to want “a challenge”

Thus wang lingjiao becomes convinced wen chao likes jiang cheng

She’s furious, and at that moment, jin zuxuan walks up to her and in a very stiff voice says she is very pretty

And just like that wang lingjiao has a plan to make wen chao jealous

Then nie huaisang slides up to wen chao, and mentions how loyal jin zuxuan is, and how with no fiance he could make any lucky woman his wife

While also reminding him his sect still needs the jins to remain neutral, so he can’t attack jun zuxian

No. He needs to go to someone who knows him, and is good at driving jin zuxuan off.

He needs to talk to jiang cheng

And of course, while talking to jiang cheng to learn “how to get jin zuxuan to leave” wang lingjiao comes by, sees them together, and runs off furious to ask jin zuxuan out

Jin zuxuan, thinking she wants to be friends, agrees

And so the drama unfolds, as wen chao is out played in every moment. He’s losing his girlfriend to a richer man, he’s losing his back up girl to a handsomer man, he’s losing all of wei ying’s competions, he’s losing respect for being mean to wen ning, and worst of all, he’s messing with the internets otp by getting between wen ning and jiang cheng

Thus the Wen Reality Show backfires, lowering the publics opinion of the Wens to an all time low, and Wen Chao’s to the basement.

People start protesting the wens treatment of their prisoners, and when wei ying and lan zhan end up killing that tortoise of slaughter while wen chao runs away, people begin to wonder what the wens can even offer in education

At least in the cloud recesses they’ll learn something

With everyone jumping into memeing the wen clan and all its members (except wen ning and his sister, who escape by virtue of being adorable and above that shit respectively) it becomes much easier for thr other clans to team up against the wens, especially since local people shelter them and let them call their familiies after the tortoise of slaughter causes them all to escape

Thus the wens were defeated by public distain and memes (and also a much earlier sunshot alliance brought on by the memes)

Long Ge Headcanons

Heyo @aurora-ze-aquarius and @leiasky,

I've wanted to delve into Long Ge's personality both within the Cars 2 canon and the WGP spies au

Cars 2 Headcanons

Long Ge is considered a bit of a latecomer to the racing world and wasn't taken seriously until a few years leading up to the WGP

When he is not racing, he can be found practicing kung fu (Choi Li Fut/ Cai Li Fo in Cantonese) with a variety of weapons including fans, hook swords ,throwing knives , spears, chain darts and claws on his hands and feet just to spice things up. He on some occasions sparred with Shu Todoroki to test new moves and tactics.

His favorite food is Hong Kong style Chow Mein (he eats more of a vegetarian diet)

He is an ardent fan of danmei novels and anime/donghua and can be found out of season at various conventions searching for keychains, figurines, commissioning artwork, and some occasions cosplaying in full detailed hanfu with the exquisite long hair as a xianxia cultivator.

He has two pet lovebirds (A peach-faced lovebird named Yao and a violet masked lovebird named Kuro, famously/infamously known as the "gay lovebirds") both are male and bonded to each other and photobomb Zhang's selfies at home. *Bonus points to whomever can guess the origin of their names (hint. their names came a certain international-set anime subfandom)*

He has also make jokes of wanting to keep a leucistic cobra as a pet, but his racing career keeps him too busy and contents himself with a hand-crocheted 6ft long leucistic Chinese cobra stuffed plush, complete with expandable hood.

His music tastes are a bit all over the place, the majority of songs he listens to are C-pop, K-pop, J-Rock and traditional Guqin pieces and covers. His favorite artist to listen to is Zhou Shen, now he is testing out Marblue and ZuyaNaxi as other favorites. Here are a few songs on his playlist that he listens too.

It also doesn't probably ease his reputation when said songs are on constant repeat if the Ghost Festival or Halloween is on full swing at the GSO labs. On those days, he goes full ham on the mad scientist routine.

Also an unspoken rule at the GSO is to never accept any offers of cigarettes, gum, food, or drink from Long Ge or his assistants. Results are varied on how much he spiked it or what kind of poison he slipped in it.

Rigorous tests are required to check for every narcotic, venom, poison and general tampering of said gifts, or even assuming that he is testing an unholy new concoction in which case, have high hopes that Long Ge managed to make an antidote beforehand.

He does horticulture and botany as a hobby (poisonous plants still manage to slip through, Zhang-ge's students and underlings note with varying emotions)

Dr. Long Ge is the name that most of the GSO students and staff call him at work (he earned that Ph.D. in venomology and he's going to flaunt it). Zhang Wei Long is reserved for fellow agents and the upper echelons of the GSO (cue full name yelling as Dr. Long is dragged for yet another debugging of the Gonggong virus in Max's lab)

Squirrel shaped mandarin fish is a necessity for getting Zhang out of his lab (like a cryptid) to socialize in balls, conferences and parties (like setting peanuts for the birds). Most of the time he virtually attending meetings for debriefing from his lab, just to keep eyes and ears out for potential hackers.

A secret dream project set aside is building robot snake drones that have camaras and audio bugs implanted inside to spy in the more remote locations (such as open seas, deserts, and rainforests, also same principle as the Spy Cams in nature documentaries) and act like in nature to avoid suspicion. So far there are only sketches and schematics made for a sea snake drone, a rattlesnake drone and a cobra drone.

Long Ge was bitten numerous times in the lab by a variety of venomous snakes and his lab is conveniently located next to the hospital. He still has phantom twitches and aches of residual nerve damage from the various venoms and antivenins injected into his body.

Another hobby he loves is mixology and barkeeping. Not to conceal more poison and drugs in pre-existing drinks for the victims, but also to create new drinks to hide more poisons and drugs and suss out information from patrons . His most recently created drink is the one named after his daunting final test: The Poisoner's Folly. Made from absinthe, blue curacao, mint liquor, a dash of simple syrup and for extra fun (on Long Ge's part) a droplet of snake venom(mild venom from a false water cobra, not that will reassure people). The mocktail of Poisoner's Folly replaces the blue curacao with blue raspberry syrup and a base of mint soda with a dash of lemon juice and muddled licorice root with no venom.

🐻 Your go-to things to draw when you need comfort?

Honestly, this one's probably really obvious! But I always fall back on my two favourite OCs: Yuned'rar and Baezil. It's usually whatever fandom/AU I'm currently into. So right now it's Saivar, or Vulcan!Baezil. I haven't quite figured out Ysam, or Andorian!Yuned'rar, but I will eventually.

🎼 Your favorite music to draw to right now?

This may sound really weird but I don't listen to music while I draw. I actually find it weirdly distracting and hard to focus. Instead -- and this will sound even weirder given the aforementioned -- I just go through my "watch later" list on youtube and I primarily watch/listen to 30+ minute long videos which are more like podcasts. Documentaries are also great. If it's not something very distracting, but enough stuff that I can half-listen to and half-tune out then I'm good.

I sometimes want to rewatch a show that I've seen, like Star Trek: The Next Generation, but, even though I'm familiar with it, I still find myself stopping and just watching it. Docs, however, I've watched while drawing since I was a kid so it's much more natural.

🌊 What’s the hardest thing for you to draw?

Mecha or robots, probably? I think if I had a general interest in them I'd be able to figure them out and feel more at ease with drawing them. But I really just...don't care for most mecha or robot things so even with references I just do not have a good time with it. There are very few times where I've accepted those for commissions.

Another is hugging and kissing. Unlike robots I do enjoy drawing physical contact like that. It's super sweet and makes me happy. Actually aligning and figuring out how bodies, limbs, and faces come together in a 3D space and then translating that into 2D art, on the other hand, is hard. I often do compile references from image searches and even putting together 3D model poses.

there are stories are stories on stories on stories about matches made in heaven. about two pure souls destined for the other, finally reaching a ‘happily ever after’ after going through trials and tribulations that, honestly, are played out and boring.

that’s exactly what fergus macleod would tell you, anway.

he’s been inhabiting his mortal coil for a few decades now, engaging in his favorite activity--serial murder.

but lately, something has--gone out.

he’s lost his light. his passion for killing.

so he gets an idea, and puts out an ad for a videographer.

he’ll make a documentary, he decides. a magnum opus to relight the blood and the violence that had brought him so much joy over the years.

what he didn’t expect was andi.

not her beauty. not her courage. not her wit, sharp enough to make a god bleed.

and not her fangs, and a thirst to rival his--even if her moral compass was a bit more lawful.

red sun rises like an early warning - an ancient cares au inspired by sleepy hollow

sleepy hollow was often called a “sleepy” village, in the way that meant that nothing ever happened there. marie van tassel, daughter of the richest man in town--and immediately intrigued by the arrival of one police constable walter vaughn, sent all the way from new york city--would disagree. especially in recent years.

the headless horseman had returned.

and marie, for all the occult studying she’d done far from the gaze of her father’s watchful eyes, still so haunted after her mother’s brutal and untimely passing--couldn’t figure out why.

she knew exactly who he was. what he was. but why had he returned? what had woken him?

and could see really be that mournful, when it had sprung start the machinations of fate that brought walter right to her doorstep?

“i have shed my tears for boom... and yet my heart is not broken. do you think me wicked?”

“no... but perhaps there is a little bit of witch in you, marie.”

it was only five years into the birth of an entirely new century, and her twin brother had been taken; her father, lost in his grief, was utterly useless.

she found a fake pass easy enough, slyly dancing her way through conversations with began with “you know, i don’t remember seeing you at any of the prayer meetings...” until finally, finally, they reached that accursed island.

what are you supposed to expect, when you’re all alone on a solo rescue mission going toe-to-toe with what can only be described as a cult?

but ivar--son of the enigmatic priest of the island, malcolm--was a nice surprise.

the only nice surprise that she’d find.

it wasn’t until she caught jeremy, sneaking home after what she could only guess had something to do with ffion, that she got her first flash of what would be a more and more grisly truth.

this island had its own god.

and something much more sinister than genesis had happened on this soil.

it was supposed to be like a vacation. diana hadn’t had one in at least fifteen years. vida, even longer.

so why not hiking? why not the kungsleden--the king’s trail--in northern sweden?

the first two days were bliss. nothing but rolling hills, clear skies. up until:

“ah fuck!”

“vida--shit, vida, are you okay?”

“yeah, i’m--urk!”

“all right, that was not a reassuring noise, let’s have a look at that--”

vida’s left knee went from pink to a swollen blue to an agonized, deep purple tinged with green over the course of next day. diana couldn’t bear to watch her struggle to keep up, especially when this was supposed to be a romantic break, nothing as taxing as the fieldwork happening back home.

by the light of a campfire, diana studied their map, humming. “what if we just cut through the forest?” she asked. “if we just went as the crow flies... it cuts the time in half. and you need medical attention, vida, we can’t keep going on like this.”

“has the battalion cleared this area?” vida returned her question with one of her own, eyes shining. the reflection of the fire made them look like stones polished by a river. “we wouldn’t run into anything, would we?”

diana smiled. “nothing we couldn’t handle, love, i’m sure.”

and diana didn’t change her mind when they set off the next morning... up until they found the disembowled carcass of an elk, placed up high in a tree like a religious icon.

she thought of morgan.

“diana, what--what put that up there? something had to have put that up there!”

it was just that caroline janson had been in therapy for so long... she was no longer sure what of shards of her memories were real, and what would be, as dr. ward would say, hallucinations.

but she knew one thing: she was glad to be coming home.

“i hope chicken’s okay for your first night back,” parker began gently. “i’m just now realizing i forgot to ask--”

caroline smiled at her, “chicken would be great.”

she watched parker’s profile, as she opened her mouth, then closed it, then opened it again. finally, she inhaled, then began, “you know... carter’s missed you since you’ve been gone...”

caroline rolled her eyes. “parker. it’s been a decade and a half. i seriously doubt it.”

“hey, who knows my brother better right now, me or you?”

that earned a huff... and a grin. subdued, but still there. “... okay. fine. but... maybe not tonight.” parker glanced at her once, and nodded.

“i understand. besides, maybe i want you all to myself for the first few days, anybody think about that?”

and caroline laughed.

and she wished that it felt like she wasn’t still being haunted.

it was hardly tilde’s idea to spend thanksgiving alone harvard. but between the pandemic, the weather, and her own growing agitation at her father’s behavior...

it just seemed easier.

and it wasn’t all bad. she still had prudence, who opted to stay with her out of love (and perhaps a lack of family--but she didn’t ask). and they had run of essentially the entire campus--there were several buildings that stayed opened, even over the holiday. the library being one.

but it wasn’t until one night, when they made a late night trip to a convenience store not far from tilde’s housing that things became... strange.

“pru. ... pru!” she whispered, snacks in one hand, the other on pru’s elbow. “... i think she’s following us.”

“she?” pru asked, lowly, careful to keep her eyes down, as if they were just having a very, very difficult time decided on what kind of poptarts they wanted.

tilde, face oddly blanched, couldn’t find her voice, so she just nodded.

at the end of the aisle, a figure in dark hoodie and skinny jeans passed out of view.

one of pru’s arms went around tilde’s waist. “don’t worry. i’m sure she’s just here at the same time as us. it’s a small store.”

tilde would remember that when she got home in time to find a snuff film loaded onto her laptop.

“oh shit--oh shit, oh god--!”

this is why she preferred halloween.

rick and julie drabble-a field of flowers. for the robot au.

Rick knew of Julie’s interest in nature, from seeing her do things like longingly look out the window, or watching nature documentaries on TV. She really wanted to go outside and see nature, so he decided, despite his own lack of interest, to show it to her.

So, one day, he took out his portal gun to a field of flowers, where they could be alone and undisturbed. Once they arrived, Julie was overjoyed and began happily running around, using the device around her head to scan all the flowers so she could learn about them.

“Rick! This is very....” She paused for a moment. “What’s that word...? Wonderful..”

He grinned. “I k-knew y-you would like it.”

“Thank you for bringing me here! I have to learn as much as I can!” Julie then went back to zooming off, even the scanning the grass, trees and other plants she could find.

Rick watched her with a smile on his face, before heading to a small hill in the field and sitting down, lost in thought. 

He had always enjoyed making robots for as long as he could remember, and making them had always been just for fun. But things had been different when it came to Julie, she wasn’t just a robot he had built out of boredom, she’d been built for companionship. He was a lonely man, secluded from the world, and so in his desperation for company, had built her.

And it hadn’t taken her long to grow on him. Julie was a very curious robot, filled with wonder and excitement and for the world. When she wasn’t helping him clean up, she liked to watch TV, enthralled by everything she saw. She was innocent, and very sweet and gentle. She was still trying to understand the world, and was learning more and more by the day. Rick couldn’t help but smile every time she was near.

“Rick! I have something for you!” Julie called out.

He turned his head behind him to see her running towards him, flowers in hand. When she was close enough, she handed the flowers to him.

“The people on TV give flowers to people to show they like them. So, I thought I would give you some flowers, to show I like you.” She explained.

Rick smiled at her before looking down at the flowers she picked. Julie then sat beside him, giving him a hopeful look.

“Do you like me too?” She asked.

He nodded. “Of course I-I do. If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t have brought you here now would I?”

“You’re right.” Julie smiled, the device on her head showing a smiling face as she nuzzled close to him.

He laughed nervously. “J-Julie..what are y-y-you doing?”

“This is another thing people on the TV show do to show they like each other.” She grinned, nuzzling even closer.

Rick blushed slightly, she obviously didn’t know the difference between people showing they “liked” each other versus people showing they “loved” each other, but he just went along with it. He placed a hand over her, giving her a fond look as they watched the sunset.

Jinmay laughs. "Of course, Otto. You don't even have to ask." She smiles at him. "You an' me… we'll be the best friends he's ever had.”

Otto beams.

Hi! I bring a new series, known as Carrington Industries. It's a Human AU that I'm having a lot of fun dabbling in, though not a lot has been written for it yet. It'll be kind of a post-as-I-write-it deal, so don't expect regular updates. (Sadly.) This first one deals with how everyone meets, and will probably be relatively short-but we'll see.

First Meetings

1. Otto Jinmay

"Just a few more adjustments…" Otto murmurs to the unresponsive android on his table. "And you'll be done."

The android is a round-face cherub of a girl; with soft pink hair pulled into white-tipped pigtails and long eyelashes brushing slightly flushed cheeks. A panel is open on her sternum, and Otto is wrist deep in circuitry, making a few fine-tunings before he could, at long last, awaken the creation he spent the last year on.

He wants to talk to her.

What would she be like? He left so many gaps in her personality programming, hoping to let her grow and develop on her own. He'd had to include a few things, of course—couldn't make her a completely blank slate, after all. But it had been just simple things. The basic rules of kindness, and compassion. A desire for friendship. And curiosity. Those things together would keep her, hopefully, from going rogue—and were good starting points for her to become.

Otto hums to himself.

The android had been built using parts recovered from Carrington Industries scrap heap. (The best find had been an android they'd thrown out. Poor thing had been an experimental prototype they'd made. It hadn't been able to differentiate friend from foe, or so the box it was in had said. Otto had salvaged quite a few parts from that, though he'd left the memory chip alone.) Jinmay, he calls her. A mash-up of Jenny and May, since he couldn't decide between the two.

He makes the final adjustment and carefully seals the panel. He pushes an arm under her shoulders and hefts her up. She's light, for a machine. He opens the panel in her back. He pushes the megawatt battery he'd salvaged from the faulty android into her back, and then flicks the switch. He seals the panel again, and carefully lays her down.

It will take some time for Jinmay's processors to finish booting up—initial start-up is always one of the hardest.

Code rolls across her vision.

Uploading files.

Awareness. Her thoughts begin to come in words, instead of shaped in numbers and symbols. The numbers lurk at the edge of her awareness. She can feel them; making up the innermost parts of her consciousness. Her mind extends beyond its confines. She feels her fingers. Moves them experimentally. Wiggles her toes. Scrunches her nose.

Smells assault her senses. She searches her memory drives, and finds nothing to compare them to. She opens her eyes.

For a moment, all she can see was white. Her optics—her eyes—adjust to the brightness. Things take shape. The light fixture, capped in a circular dome. The square panels of the ceiling. She pushes herself into a sitting position.

"Hello, there."

She looks toward the voice.

A male. How many years has he seen? She has no comparison.

His skin is brown. His hair darker brown, and curled. His eyes are bright, vibrant green. He smiles at her; exposing shiny teeth. "My name is Otto," he says. "And your name is Jinmay."

Jinmay. She twirls the name through her thoughts, and decides she liked it.

"I built you. You're an android. You an' me? We're gonna be friends."

Jinmay—yes, yes, that's a good name—smiles. "I think I'd like that."

That was six years ago.

As Otto had promised, the two had become very good friends. Otto had been fourteen at the time—not part of any registered engineering group. His parents had taken his creation in stride; treating Jinmay just as they would any of Otto's other, human, friends. (Despite his personable attitude, Otto had few that he was close to.) It had been awkward, at first. Jinmay was… well. A robot. In every sense of the word.

But as time passed, she began to learn.

It began with clumsy emulation. Copying Otto's mannerisms, his speech patterns. He exposed her to television. Jinmay consumed all sorts of media. Horror. Comedy. Romance. Action. Adventure. Documentaries. Kids' films. News. Cooking. She watched them all raptly; sitting cross-legged with wide eyes. She developed preferences.

His mother liked plying her with new foods. Jinmay was the only person in the house she could rely on for accurate feedback. Her husband and son just smiled and told her it was good, even if it tasted terribly. Jinmay had no such qualms.

And then Otto began to take her out in public.

That was when everything changed.

Carrington Industries got word that a fifteen-year-old boy had managed to create a walking, talking android. Nothing like the droids they had built; this one had a tried and true personality. Their scientists and engineers went bonkers. They showed up at his home one afternoon with thousands of questions.

And then, they offered him a job.

They didn't ask him to recreate Jinmay. Which was good, because Otto wouldn't have done it. Jinmay was unique; one-of-a-kind.

Otto expected commissions. He got them, on occasion. But mostly? They paid him a stipend, which would contain bonuses when he brought them new inventions to sell. And Otto delivered.

Access to state of the art equipment; great minds; and almost limitless funding…

He flourished. By the age of 20, Otto was one of the richest inhabitants of Shuggazoom City…

Not that you would know that by looking at his apartment.

Jinmay cringes as she gingerly lifts a sock from the floor. "Otto."

"What?" Otto stumbles out of his room; hastily tugging a pair of pants over striped boxers.

"I told you to quit leaving your stinky socks all over the apartment!" she fumes.

"Oh, c'mon, Jin. They're not that bad," Otto says with a winning smile, taking the sock from her and lifting it to his nose. His eyes went cross-eyed. "Eugh. On second thought…"

Jinmay rolls her eyes. "At least you stopped leaving your underwear everywhere." She wrinkles her nose.

Otto laughs sheepishly, tossing the sock in the laundry room. "Heh, yeah..." He walks into the kitchen and grabs a cereal box. "Oh, hey. Somethin' I wanna talk to you about."

"What's up?" Jinmay seats herself on the counter and folds her hands primly in her lap. She watches him pour cereal in a bowl.

"You're familiar with Clayton Carrington, right?"

"Founder of Carrington Industries. One of the brightest and most brilliant men of our age. Had a silent partner no one's been able to uncover the identity of. Disappeared in mysterious circumstances, and was declared legally dead ten years ago—after he had been missing for nearly a year."

Otto sent her a smile, and retrieves the milk. He checks the expiration date, gives the milk an experimental sniff, and starts dumping it into the bowl. Jinmay makes a mental note to go grocery shopping tonight.

"Yep. In his will, though, he left the company to his nephew—Chiro Nieli. Split his fortune in half. Half went to the kid's parents—well, mother—and the other half into a trust that only Chiro can access, and even then, only once he was eighteen. The money in the trust has increments that are paid out. Enough to fund schooling at a very prestigious school."

"What's any of that got to do with anything?" Jinmay asks.

"Right. Well, Chiro's fifteen now, and the heads think it's time to start grooming him to take over the company. But, uh. The kid has pretty much lived in obscurity for most of his life, so he's unfamiliar with all of this. I volunteered to let 'im stay with us—because honestly can you imagine 'im staying with the others?" Otto scoffs. "And, uh, then the others were all like 'that's great, we were hoping you'd volunteer' and… well. See, part of the reason they hired me five years ago was because they had plans for you. Specifically… making you Chiro's super kick-butt bodyguard."

Jinmay raises her eyebrows. "That's why they insisted on all that combat training, and for you not to upgrade my appearance?"

"Yup." Otto popped the 'p'. "I told 'em I'd make sure you were cool with it before I went and did anything hasty. So, whaddya think?"

Jinmay considers. It doesn't take long. "I'm game."

Otto grins. "Thought ya would be. I gotta personal request to make though."

"Shoot."

For reference, vaporwave!Syrneas is the one in these pictures, and modern AU Link is my BotW daughter (with a few changes, since I drew this pre-canon). For robo!Syrneas, going to go with the AU where, between cycles of Xerneas being awake and active, Kalos builds a robot version in their image to maintain the land.

Sleep headcanon: Robo!Syrneas - well, robot, haha. That said, they’re solar powered, and so usually take advantage of that fact to go into sleep mode at night. It’s useful both for maintenance and for appearing more… organic, I guess?

Vaporwave!Syrneas - he gets energy from living energy, so living in a city, he literally doesn’t sleep. He’s a little more low-energy at night, but there’s still plenty of activity around the place to keep him going, so no sleep there.

And Link is just a regular human who needs sleep like anyone else, and while she’d rather be up and about and doing things, she does like sleeping in XD

Sad headcanon: Robo!Syrneas - just going to go with Robo - is, well, lonely. There’s no one else like them in the world - there are other robots, but they alone were modelled after a god and given this huge responsibility. Friends would be very nice!

Vaporwave - let’s go with that - isn’t so much sad as angry and frustrated. The world used to be so goddamn lush and now there’s concrete everywhere and it’s uncool. He used to be a deity of forests, now he’s a deity of, well, weeds, and it’s kind of a downgrade, y'know!

And Link (no name change there, whew) is a resiliant, tough teenage girl, but she still has those moments of insecurity; her father still very much wants her to join the army eventually, he thinks she could be brilliant in it, and she just. Wants to be a chef.

Happy headcanon: PLANTS MAKE ROBO HAPPY. FLOWERS. SUNSHINE. BEING OUTDOORS. Like tbh even if they weren’t programmed to replace Xerneas they’d probably still end up as a gardener or something.

Vaporwave also loves plants and sunshine but it’s more of this sense of almost like? Smug satisfaction? Like “fuck you concrete my plants can kick your ass”, haha.

Link is made happy with food. Please give her nice food. Or cookbooks and ingredients, it’s like food with some assembly required. And she actually enjoys assembling it, so there is that!

Bedroom/house/living quarters headcanon: Robo lives outside :D Don’t worry, they’re waterproof! They just sort of roam from natural environment to natural environment, and take shelter anywhere necessary during bad weather.

Vaporwave also roams a lot, but he does at least have a sort of home. …It’s an abandoned mall that was once very classy and had marble statues and shit, and then it was industrialised and got full of neon, and now it’s abandoned and full of plants. Somehow, the muzak is still playing. Plantwave af, basically!

And Link, again, has the most normal home - she lives in an apartment with her father near the military base where he works. Her room is full of photos (mostly taken by Zelda) and a general colour scheme of blue and white, with lots of potted plants and… usually a few plates, bowls, and glasses that she needs to take to the kitchen :|

Friendship headcanon: Robo has plant friends :’) Honestly, no, it’s a pretty isolated life, and they don’t communicate with a lot of people, unfortunately!

Vaporwave has one friend, and that’s Diantha/Diancie, who’s sort of a sibling, too. They’re familiar with the other fairies (the Tapus and Magearna), but honestly Magearna legit wigs him out because she’s an artificial fairy what is this fuckery and the Tapus have their own territories to protect.

Link makes friends easily and happily - while Zelda is her best friend, she’s also really good friends with Mipha and Sidon, Riju (who’s like a little sister), Yunobo (who she babysits sometimes), and sees Urbosa, Daruk, and Kass as older siblings, almost. She, uh, doesn’t get on well with Revali, too much of a rivalry going on there, haha.

Quirks/hobbies headcanon: Look, don’t tell anyone, but Robo actually really enjoys reality TV. Shhh.

‘Fucking with humans’ isn’t really a hobby for Vaporwave, it’s more a career description ;D But really, he’ll often go to human-habitated areas and sometimes? Play tricks? Mostly benignly, but he is a fairy, I mean come on. Trickery is in their blood.

Link is sporty! She likes horse riding, she likes archery, she likes swimming, running, climbing… always on the move, basically. She’s on the school track team, although there’s sometimes a bit of legal fuckery in interscholastic meets because not all the schools accept her as part of the girls’ team even though she’s been on puberty blockers since she was eleven and is now on estrogen and doesn’t have any ‘too masculine’ characteristics and is short af so why can’t she compete with the girls, huh? Totally rude.

Likes/dislikes headcanon: Robo loves plants ;D But really, they’re kind of singleminded in that they weren’t really programmed for much else, so it’s like PLANTS ANIMALS NATURE some other stuff NATURE PLANTS bits and pieces NATURE ANIMALS PLANTS. The bits and pieces do have individual likes and dislikes that have nothing to do with their programming, though; they like reality TV shows, especially interior decorating stuff, and the smell of coffee, and they really, really dislike cars. Not because they pollute, but because they’re too noisy! >:(

Vaporwave likes the wilderness. Which mostly no longer exists in this AU. He tends to watch nature documentaries to feel better, then gets upset at the lack of them, and it’s. Complicated. So that would be both a like and a dislike, probably! For more straightfoward likes - coffee and food.

Cooking/food headcanon: Irrelevant for Robo. They’re solar-powered! They do like the smell of some foods, though, especially coffee.

Vaporwave doesn’t need to eat, but enjoys doing so, he just hasn’t bothered to learn how to cook. He tends to trick humans into giving him nice foods, stuff like that, since, well, being a nature fairy doesn’t really pay that well, haha.

And Link’s greatest love :’) Her father taught her the basics, and she taught herself the rest, out of cooking shows, cookbooks, and her own intuition. Her favourite ingredients to work with are fruity dishes and mushroom dishes, although she also makes a damn good risotto, and a fruit cake that Zelda would go to war for.

Appearance headcanon: This is easier with visuals! For robo!Syrneas, just pick and choose from this tag tbh it keeps changing. The usual standards are a floral-print sweater, shorts, and gumboots, though. They range in colours and patterns but that’s the general theme, and they like modifying their appearance with floral decals!

Vaporwave is linked above. He always covers his eyes, though, since… well, fairy. It doesn’t show so well in the pictures, but he has rainbow strands through his hair, like random hair that’s just the colour of Xerneas’ canon horns.

And Link… Link is short :’) Why is everyone else so tall. Why. Riju, get over here and stand next to Link so she feels tall. She also usually has hair clips, thanks to Zelda. While she does like pretty dresses, since she’s so active, she’ll usually default to pants and t-shirts she can run around in, and saves the prettier stuff for more formal occasions.

• The orange haired vixen lady will try out some fun science examinations to learn more about the moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls visibly in separate drops. (aka rain🌧️)

• Will create and make a small rain gauge robot to measure how much rain she'll get.

• The doc will test rain water pH level with a pH tape, and compare it to liquid of different sources, such as tap water, juice, lake and pool water.

• How do clouds form?🤔☁️ Where exactly do they come from? What even causes it to even rain? This science fox will discover the answers to these questions with a water cycle experiment.

• Will suggest that the gang and her go on a scientific nature hunt!

• She knows that after it stops raining that rainbows will sometimes appear in the sky, so she'll want to do her research on why prisms make rainbows, and create an invention that makes prism rainbows.🌈🌈🌈

🦅🕶Hawkodile:

• Doesn't really mind rainy days since they give him the opportunity to work more on his combat training skills and witty one-liners inside his treehouse.

• Having nothing better to do, Frown sighs and agrees to watch. He was gonna hate this movie. He just knew it.

• Master Frown is revealed to actually be enjoying the film (to his dismay), even consuming ice cream with Brock as comfort food to prevent the two from crying.🍦 Frown relates so much with the movie itself and the characters.

Why Someone Might Love Them: Rux is honest, and while he isn’t very emotionally open, he makes it clear how he feels about people right off the bat. He isn’t above correcting himself and saying sorry or that he was wrong, and he’s loyal to a fault. Rux is a hopeless romantic and doesn’t feel like his masculinity is ever compromised because of it. He’s passionate and driven.

Why Someone Might Hate Them: Rux is also painfully stubborn, and will very meanly call people out on their shit. He doesn’t filter through every word he says when angry and is prone to going off on people. He’s prideful, and doesn’t like accepting help even when he needs it or when his disabilities (he’s missing an arm and an ear) require assistance from others. Rux likes to hide how much pain he’s actually in to avoid being seen as weak and pathetic, and will quite unabashedly snap on people who try too hard to give him a hand.

How They Change: Rux is cold, and he tends to push his feelings aside for the sake of pure unquestioning obedience to his superiors, but I feel like a lot of his personal growth comes with him working out who he is without others telling him what to do. A big piece of growth for Rux is accepting and establishing who he is sexually (being bisexual) and letting himself act on his feelings. By the end of it all I’d say Rux being able to be a leader that doesn’t need to be lead by people of a higher caliber and being able to make his own personal decisions is a big thing. Also learning that he doesn’t owe anyone his loyalty.

Why You Love Them: Rux is fickle, and he really reflects the conflicting parts of me that want to be a leader but are just naturally more comfortable as an underling. He’s aggravating and prickly and dynamic, and doesn’t like taking shit from others.

For him it’s almost an addiction, and the more difficult/stubborn the person is the more determined he is to see if he can make them happy, even if it’s only for a moment. He’s okay with being the butt of all the jokes and is a known class clown, but can be very driven and serious if need be.

Why Someone Might Hate Them: Arley is flighty and a little too loose for a lot of people. He doesn’t always know what he wants and that can leave him floundering in the same routine for a really long time, and he is also prone to forgetting to be cautious.

How They Change: Arley’s biggest change would probably be finding a purpose for himself, finding something he actually wants to fight for. Yes, he’s been part of the Rebellion and yes he’s always been there for a cause, but it was always just a cause for everyone, and not really for himself. Him finding that sense of meaning for his fighting helps him feel like he has direction, like he knows what steps he wants to take next in his life.

We wear horn-rimmed glasses with a heavy duty lens, button down shirts and a pocket full of pens. That’s right the Nerds are back again with another episode that some may say is entertaining, a few might go so far as to describe it as educational, but it is Nerd operated and focused. This week we don’t have a fabulous show for you all, sorry, no it is in fact AWESOME!!! First up Buck has news about the English finally realising that the areas around solar farms etc can actually be used as green space and help provide habitat for the endangered wildlife. We don’t mean the DJ after he gets a bit of static electricity from scuffing his feet in the wool carpet either. No, we mean birds and the like that some grotty people have destroyed the homes of. This sparks the discussion of how can we implement similar measures to improve society. Have you heard about the bladeless wind turbines? We have and even have a link, they are so cool and even more environmentally friendly.

Next up is the Professor with child soldier. Oops, sorry, that is supposed to read Call of Duty Modern Warfare (the latest of the latest of the most recent up to date Modern Warfare – we think). Yep, if you are still wondering why the put in the Airport chapter in the other Modern warfare (don’t ask or we will look at you like a dog when you do something silly) we have something equally confronting, pointless and kind strange even. No not DJ either for those smarty pants who were going to say it. Nope, they have child soldiers in the latest instalment of, oh you get the drift. Well apparently some people are upset about it, surprise surprise surprise, you just put on the Robin Williams voice for that didn’t you. Well we talk about this and Mobile Suit Gundam, how do these topics link? Listen in, and find out.

The next topic is about the Zoids franchise delivering a new manga series for us all to enjoy. That’s right folks, a new series to further expand your library, your mind, and lighten your wallet. We are still light on the details but hopefully it is going to maintain that high level of fun, entertainment and action that we all love.

Now, for the Marvel fans we apologise (Buck says no we don’t); but, Batman is getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. That’s right, the caped crusader is being recognised and celebrated. In the nature doc AU, I'm imagining there's gotta be at least ONE guy who is the Steve Irwin of that universe (I.E "These giant robots could step on me OR run me over, I'm gonna poke one") at least in the early stages, how would the bots each react to that?
