Hubristic Assholes Tourney Round 1 Part 3a
Erin Ruunaser (Aurora) vs Manfred von Karma (Ace Attorney)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda below cut (Spoiler warning!)
Erin
So in Aurora, there was this ancient, magical storm that been going on for centuries. The further one went in, the more likely they were to die either due to the hostile environment or the massive amounts of ambient magic would begin to basically destroy their body from the inside. Erin looked at this and basically went “yes, but I’m built different” and went inside with zero backup. Now, technically speaking, he is in a way built different as he is one of the only people in the world who can control all of the six (known) magical elements that make up the Storm, so he was able to bypass all of the obstacles and make it to the center. When he got there, he unknowingly activated a trap that destroyed the Storm and caused him to become possessed by an eldritch star-eating dragon, whose physical body is still stuck in the core of the planet and wants to use his new vessel to free himself. Whoopsie! Now, Erin is searching for a way to sever his link with the dragon without his buddies from the Academy finding out. Also he’s being hunted by Paladins now. Fun times; At one point, he tries to learn more about the Void Dragon by accessing a Paladin library. The receptionist doesn’t let him in because he isn’t a Paladin, and he basically goes full Karen on her (he literally asks to speak with her supervisor/manager). Then he learns that one of his friends will be held prisoner for as long as they plan to stay in the city (long story). Erin still plans to stay for as long as he needs to get information on the evil Void Dragon. Said dragon literally appears in his dream that night to tell him he’s being kind of an asshole. Also despite all of this, Erin still isn’t entirely sure if the Light Dragon worshiped by the Paladins is even real. He knows the Void Dragon is real, but the opposite still seems like a stretch I guess. Also the receptionist from earlier is one of the Paladins currently hunting him. He needs to be shoved in a locker. I need to shove him in a locker.
Travels through a famously dangerous magic storm just because he can, fixes some kind of broken magic rune circle that is causing the storm, getting possessed by the evil Void Dragon in the process; He once tried to talk his way into a restricted library and got shot down hilariously
He tries to explore to the center of this volatile magic storm that no one's ever gotten to the center of, and immediately gets possessed by the primordial void dragon that had been waiting for someone exactly like him to try to get to the center of the storm. At the time of writing this he's about to try to cross an ocean on an experimental never-before-seen type of boat, which i suspect will only go well and will have no problems :)
Ventures into a giant magical storm, declaring that the only reason no one has ever reached the center is because he hasn't tried to yet. Reaches the center and promptly decides to switch off the magical pedestal creating the storm, because he can, and gets possessed by a star-eating eldritch dragon god for his trouble.
Literally the first thing he does in the comic is go explore a highly dangerous magical storm just because he's currently the one person in the world who can manipulate all six traditional magic elements and is therefore the only person who can explore the storm safely. At its center, Erin discovers a cracked pedestal with the elemental runes on it and deduces it to be the cause of the storm, then just stops the storm without a second thought, which is notable for two reasons: 1. By the time the audience gets this info, we've already seen a town whose infrastructure depends on the strong winds the storm produces, which is obviously no longer viable 2. The storm itself turned out to have been a trap set by an ancient evil star-eating dragon trapped in the center of the planet which has now possessed Erin. He's actually incredibly booksmart and puts that knowledge to very impressive use sometimes, but he is also known to be impulsive, overcome with confusion when presented with a thing he doesn't know about already, and of course, hubristic. (he does demonstrate a pretty well-aligned moral compass when it counts, though) In summary, I really like him because his combination of character traits makes him flip-flop wildly between "exactly as awesome as he thinks he is" and "hopelessly cringefail" depending on the situation and it never stops making sense. He's so smart but he's so stupid.
(Spoilers) This dude walked into a massive magical storm that literally nobody lived long enough to see the center of, all while gloating about how smart he is, then touched a highly suspicious symbol and got himself possessed by basically Satan. He then proceeds to lecture Not-Satan on how he’s the smart one on this team and that he better sit down and shut up unless he wants to be killed by his MANY enemies. And the strange part is that it worked; The fandom gave him the nicknames “Icarus” “Sicktats McHubris” and “Pompous Nitwit” and I think that says a lot about him
Manfred
During a trial against Miles Edgworth’s dad Gregory Edgeworth Manfred von karma gets a penalty he does not lose the trial however he considers this penalty an egregious enough crime that he must kill Gregory Edgeworth. And he does however due to Miles throwing a gun he gets shot in the shoulder causing him to take his one and only vacation to recover. However he doesn’t get the bullet removed to avoid questioning as to why he has a bullet in his shoulder. For 15 years he gets away with it (miles doesn’t know it was him it’s a whole thing) but then just a few days before the statute of limitations is up on the murder of Gregory Edgeworth he decides to with the help of the Yani Yogi the man originally accused of murdering Gregory Edgeworth frame Miles for the murder of the defense attorney that got Yani off with an insanity plea (which is why Yani hates the man) then after it’s proven Yani is the murder Miles confesses to killing his dad and in Manfred’s attempt to convict Miles for that it’s proven that he killed Gregory. How? Phoenix uses a metal detector to detect the bullet in his shoulder; The thing that kills me about Manfred “I killed a man because he gave me a penalty in court” Von Karma is that he absolutely could’ve gotten away with it if he didn’t try to get revenge on Miles. He was so confident that he would get Miles convicted if not for the murder of Robert Hammond than for the murder of his own father. He was so confident because there’s no way this attorney with only 3 cases under his belt will beat him not when he tased him and that weird girl tagging along with him in the evidence room preventing him from getting any evidence on the DL-6 case except he didn’t prevent them he didn’t even bother to check because that weird girl ended up holding onto a bullet. the bullet that killed Gregory a bullet they could use to for comparison to see if a bullet was shot from the same gun a bullet like the one in Manfred’s shoulder. The bullet he didn’t have removed to avoid the question of “where did that bullet in your shoulder come from”

SOLDIER - POET - KING SWAP // PART 3A-3C “KING”
Art Swap with Kyloeggs (part B) and Ja.Co.Art (part A)!
[Part 1 - Solider] // [Part 2 - Poet]
~~~
The Prompt:
Each artist begins with a character prompt (solider, poet, king). On the first round, you design that character as they are at the beginning of their story.
Blind swap time! We trade pieces, and the second artist draws that same character in the middle of their story.
Final swap time! We trade one last time, and the third artist draws that character at the conclusion of their story.
Meet, discuss, and have some snacks! Try to figure out the tale your pieces tell.
Hazbin Hotel redesign ideas p. 1
Unfortunately I don't really have time to draw rn, but here are some ideas if anyone is looking for inspiration.
THE VEES:
They follow lates trends so they won't stick to the outfits and technologies from the times they died. We even see that Vox changed his screen (head) to more modern, flat TV screen.
Valentino:
He is a moth that realises poison that's basically a date-rape drug. His wings are hidden, looking like a coat, which makes no sense, a cloak, cape or sleeveless coat would look better. He is a pimp who died in 1970s. Val was Hispanic when living. Apparently, he has bad eyesight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is supposed to be a moth, but I don't really see it much, and the furr around his neck, that's a part of his body, just looks ridiculous. I would design him after some actual poisonous moth.
Cinnabar moth - The cinnabar is slate-black with two red spots and two pinky-red stripes on the rounded forewings. Its hindwings are pinky-red and bordered with black. The caterpillars feed on poisonous ragwort leaves. The poison from the leaves is stored in the caterpillar's body and remains even when they are an adult. As adult they leak the poison when they need to. Cinnabar moths can be seen flying during the day and night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Six-spot burnet moth - day-flying moth that flies with a slow, fluttering pattern. It has glossy black, with six red spots on each narrow, but long forewing. They release hydrogen cyanide when attacked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally I would go with Cinnabar moth, but make the spots heart shaped, and leave his inner outfit without the accessories (the suit with the white pants and golden heart belt). I would also leave his general body type but definitely change the neck furr ring, because wtf is that? I would play around with his glasses since he is supposed to have eyesight problems.
[Edit: Actually, I would make him a combo of both moths and make the furr ring his hair, because he is bald without the hat!?!?]
Velvette:
Velv is a fashion designer and critic, she is also an influencer. She keeps the Vees together and their image fresh on the internet. She's a British black woman in her early 30's. Originally her appearance was supposed to be doll-like, but that was changed to 'it-girl' and a 'bad bitch' with a darker aesthetic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Velvette's outfit is reminiscent of Val's (heart belt, coat with hearts, black stripes on arms) but darker, especially her sleeveless coat that imitates his wings. Since Valentino is already going to be darker (in my idea) and she is a fashion influencer it would make more sense for her to be brighter.
Main thing I would change about her is her skin tone, hair, and Harley Quinn themes left from her old design.
When creating very human like characters it's important to actually get the racial characteristics right. Her ashy skin and "curly" hair just makes it look like they didn't know how to draw a black character. I would give her a different texture, something between 3A and 4B. A hairstyle like heart shaped space buns would be so cool, but even if not, her styl in a poster in the background is already better than the ponytails.
Tumblr media
When it comes to her style I would get rid of pom-poms shoes and fingerless gloves. Her outfit for meeting the overlord was pretty okay, but I would change her other outfit. My inspiration would be PidginDoll's design, because he makes fabulous outfits and makeup looks for all bodies, genders and races, but I'll keep the 'goth' (it's not goth, it's just a little bit alt, mostly skulls) theme.
Blue accents like makeup would work great with her brown skin and would reference Vox.
Vox:
I genuinely think he has the best design in the entirety of the show, I would barely change anything. His outfit is similar to Alastor who he is trying to imitate, but he wears a tail suit, which is way more formal and elegant than any other suit, trying to showing he is a better, modern version of Alastor. I've seen some people got rid of his hat and gave him a tail made out a cord for fun, but other than that his design is good. Not too much details and not too little, tells us a lot about the character.
Maybe less stripes, because apparently Viv loves zebras or something. /hj
Blake Shelton brought his Friends & Heroes Tour to Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, on Thursday evening, and it was clear from the start it would be a night to remember.
“Let me tell you something, everybody… You’ve never been to a concert like we’re going to see here tonight,” Shelton teased.
The country superstar followed through on that promise, delivering a truly one-of-a-kind concert that incorporated his biggest hits as well as those from his “Friends & Heroes,” Craig Morgan, Deana Carter, and Trace Adkins.
This show offered a unique format that kept the audience on their toes throughout the entire evening. Shelton would take the stage for a few songs, then step aside to let one of his “genre heroes” perform, before returning to keep the momentum going. It gave the show an all-star jam session vibe rather than a typical concert, making it feel fresh and exciting.
Tumblr media
Fans got their first glimpse of Shelton when he hit the stage singing his latest chart-topping hit, “Pour Me A Drink,” sans Post Malone, setting the tone for the night ahead.
Is this Thursday,” the Oklahoma native asked the crowd. “There’s no Thursdays in country music. This is Friday!”
The superstar went on to encourage fans to let loose and enjoy the night ahead, admitting, “it’s Thursday and I’m in a really weird mood.”
He went on to sing hits like “I’ll Name The Dogs,” “All About Tonight” and “Neon Light” before welcoming Craig Morgan to the stage.
After singing “A Guy With A Girl,” fans were shocked when Shelton welcomed his wife, Gwen Stefani, to the stage for two of their duets, “Nobody But You” and “Happy Anywhere.” The smile on his face said it all as he proudly shouted, “Gwen Stefani, every body!” Stefani sweetly blew kisses and smiled as the packed house welcomed her with a roar of applause. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DHLnp4Uuehi/embed/captioned/?cr=1&v=14&wp=810&rd=https%3A%2F%2Fcountrynow.com&rp=%2Fblake-sheltons-friends-heroes-tour-delivers-a-one-of-a-kind-show-in-greenville-south-carolina%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A1479.5%2C%22ls%22%3A958.5%2C%22le%22%3A1475.300000011921%7D
Deana Carter was up next, taking fans back to her iconic 1995 debut album with performances of “We Danced Anyway,” “How Do I Get There,” and her signature hit, “Strawberry Wine.” The audience welcomed her with open arms, lighting up the arena with their cell phone lights and singing along to every word.
In the next part of the show, Shelton revisited some of his earliest hits, including the playful “Some Beach,” the fan-favorite “Ol’ Red,” and his career-launching debut single, “Austin.”
The next artist to take the stage was Trace Adkins, who entered the room singing “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,” prompting the entire arena to sway along with the addictive beat. After performances of “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “Ladies Love Country Boys,” Adkins teamed up with Shelton for back-to-back renditions of their hit duets, “Hell Right” and “Hillbilly Bone.” Their hilarious banter added an extra layer of fun to the performance, making it a highlight that the fans absolutely loved.
In true Blake Shelton fashion, he made this into a hilarious competition which he dubbed “the who has the best song left to play competition of the Friends & Heroes tour 2025.”
Shelton picked the energy back up with covers of George Strait and Alabama before closing out the show with fan favorites “God’s Country,” “Boys ‘Round Here” and an encore of “God Gave Me You.”
“I’ve been coming here for a long time. I love Greenville. I played the damn Blind Horse [Saloon] like twice a year,” he recalled.
Blake Shelton’s Friends & Heroes Tour is one of the most unique concert experiences out there right now. Even after 23 years in the industry, Shelton continues to deliver a stellar performance, combining his musical talents with his signature humor. His ability to connect with fans is unmatched, and the show in Greenville was a perfect example of that.
Things took a turn when Shelton invited Adkins, Morgan, and Carter to join him for an acoustic segment, shining a spotlight on the heart of Nashville—songwriting. Each artist took their turn performing a song they had written, either for themselves or for others, creating a special, intimate moment during the show.
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love
hi tina! i appreciate you so much for thinking of me ❤️
i was sitting here thinking this would be an easy answer and then thinking more, like, hmm, will it? but i think these are The Five, in no particular order:
1 - voices from the yellow road
not an original idea--i had seen a similar concept executed brilliantly in another fandom and i merely iterated off that--but i really had fun writing it and to this day im not sure how many epistolary fics there are in OUAT/CS fan spaces. i also got one of the best comments i've ever received on this fic.
2 - our little life (rounded with a sleep)
my magnum opus, my true brainchild. a season 1 (sort of?) AU that's pretty much inspired by the maltese falcon. as in, the premise of this fic was ... what if killian was the 'femme fatale' character that we weren't sure how to trust, and emma was the hard-boiled PI? joined the CSRT to finish this one and changed my life.
3 - from the edge of the deep green sea
i think this story saved my sanity when i hit the pandemic wall in summer 2020; a season 3a fic that i had a bonkers amount of fun (and strife) writing and it definitely involved listening to the cure on repeat on my 90s playlist. it was posted as part of a 30-day writing challenge: during august 2020 i wrote and posted a fic or a snippet every day for the entire month. day 14, "transformation", was this fic and i had been working on it for most of july by the time i slotted it into this writing challenge (and the captain swan supernatural summer).
4 - for tonight you're only here to know
this fic is basically just A Mood and i love it so much. i thought about trying to write an entire backstory for it, realized it would be 60k (at least!), and just wrote the parts i wanted to see.
5 - the sword and the heart
this fic was So Much! it was so much fun, it was so much work, it was so much Feelings, it was so much Plot, and all of this was unfolding during the winter and spring of 2020. i think we had our first video chat about it like a week after the march quarantines started? something crazy like that. so that Feeling, the way it Felt in 2020, is forever entwined with this fic in my brain. but it was a massive accomplishment and i have to be proud of what we pulled off. @thisonesatellite
ROUND 3A! MATCH 1 OUT OF 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Monster Stats & Propaganda Under the Cut:
Kuriboh is used by Yugi Mutou/Yami Yugi. Its stats are the following:
Attribute: DARK
Level: 1
Type: FIEND / EFFECT
Effect Type: QUICK
Effect (according to the anime): "During your opponent's turn, at damage calculation: You can discard this card; you take no battle damage from that battle (this is a Quick Effect)."
ATK / DEF: 300 / 200
Propaganda:
Turn 18 of the duel between Kaiba and Yugi in the Duelist Kingdom arc - INFINITE KURIBOH WALL.
There's one part in Duelist Kingdom (when the rules didn't matter) where the Kuribohs multiply and there's an endless amount of them.
He's cute.
Have you seen this adorable fluff ball?! He's adorable and will take a hit for you because he loves you.
It's just a small, fluffy guy. One that Yugi and Atem used destroy many an opponent, an example of how even a monster that seems useless can be used to topple an opponent. But mostly I'm submitting him because he's a small, fluffy guy. Very iconic, even if it's not the strongest monster.
In my opinion, he's the mascot of DM. Of the whole series, really. That's why there's on in each series. But you cannot go wrong with the OG!!
Dark Magician Girl is used by Yugi Mutou/Yami Yugi and Anzu Mazaki ("Tea Gardener" in the dub). Its stats are the following:
Attribute: DARK
Level: 6
Type: SPELLCASTER / EFFECT
Effect Type: CONTINUOUS
Effect (according to the anime): "This card gains 300 ATK for every "Dark Magician" or "Magician of Black Chaos" in either player's Graveyard."
ATK / DEF: 2000 / 1700
Propaganda:
Iconic
a vote for dark magician girl is a vote for feminism
I feel like Dark Magician Girl would be unstoppable if she moved on. After all, there are many Dark Magicians in this tournament, and she becomes stronger for every one in the GY.
ROUND 3A, MATCH 1 OUT OF 2!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Ariel:
Because someone had to submit her. I mean the animated version, specifically.
She may make very stupid decisions in the name of her special interest, but you've got to admire the dedication at least! Also goddamn her singing voice.
Part of Your World still hits so hard and makes me so emotional, despite not feeling very attached to this movie. Jodi Benson has such a beautiful voice! I haven't watched the live-action remake so I don't know how good that rendition of Part Of Your World is, but this one is so incredibly powerful.
Ursula:
Now, I know this Ursula is considered the villain she is in the original Disney film, but it turns out she started much more like Ariel. She's the daughter of King Poseidon. And she sings beautifully. In fact, after her mother is killed by humans, the king makes her use her voice to lure sailors to their death. When she spares Hook's ship, she leaves home so that she can sing without using it in such a horrible way (by wearing a magic bracelet that gives her legs). Her father hires Hook to steal her singing voice in a conch shell in exchange for squid ink. At first, Hook warns her and Ursula steals the ink for him. But Poseidon turns up and takes it back, so Hook uses the shell to steal Ursula's voice so she can't be used against sailors again. That betrayal breaks Ursula and she goes down a dark path. Steals magic, becomes part octopus, becomes the sea witch. Eventually, she regains her ability to sing and reconciles with her father. I suppose she's a version of Ariel who is deeply traumatised by the way she's treated and it's fascinating to see how she manages to become empowered, even if she takes it out on innocent people.
Hubristic Assholes tourney Round 1 part 3a
Herbert West (Re-Animator, both book and film) vs Victor Frankenstein (Frankenstein)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda below cut
Herbet
Literally has a whole monologue about defying god in the second movie. (https://youtu.be/BOt0rRhofuI?si=o7wCwAaT347jUmcp)
Playing God by defying death itself
Victor
"ouh im gonna create life from scratch and it's gonna be Pog and Slay" WRONG it wwas FUCKT . he didnt give that thang enough SKIN even . and then it killed his whole family, well he is just a silly guy .
Textbook definition of fuck around and find out. To his credit - yeah, he was a genius who sped through All Of Chemistry Classes in 2 years and revolutionized the field of natural sciences at his university while he was barely 20, arguably invented biochemistry (and then never told anyone) and created a human(ish) being from scratch (and again, never told anyone), BUT Honestly I don't even need to say anything here, I can literally just paste a direct quote: "Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world. A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs." He saw LIFE AND DEATH ITSELF as just a STARTING POINT ffs Needless to say, the "find out" stage hit him like a freight train making the rest of his life just one long trauma conga line until he died completely alone before even hitting 30 Give it up to our king of hubris, Greatest pathetic wet meow meow of gothic literature tbh
thought he could be better than God by making his own man so that he could later bring people (his mother) back to life. whole thing blew up in his face cause 1. he made it way too big and way too able to kill people 2. he immediately got scared of it and ran away 3. he left it alone without teaching it how to actually function as a human, further adding to the murderous tendencies.
Thinks making life is easy. Does not consider the life he made actually worth anything, He's like the platonic ideal of a shitty parent who wants recognition for Being A Parent without actually having the ability to care for someone else, just taken to a cartoonish extreme. Look where that got him.
Tries to create a whole ass person from scratch. It does not go well; The guy needs no introduction. Guy tries creates a whole human person cobbled together from dead bodies, breathes life into it, immediately abandons his creation, and proceeds to have his life completely destroyed when said creation goes on a rampage of revenge. Subtitle of the book is literally the 'Modern Prometheus.'
Do I really have to explain this one. He made a Guy. He played God. Then the Guy killed his entire family and (boy)friend; He is Pathetic
Victor wanted to play god. Created monster. Monster tried to kill him. Killed his brother, his gf, and his BFF, and came after him. A horror icon, and the modern archetype of the mad scientist in fiction. He's a pathetic pissbaby that needs to be punched. Cunt dies in the end get rekked lol.
I mean come on, Please he's like the guy
2. CSF Radiators Race-Spec Oil Cooler
The original OE oil cooler from BMW is an all metal design which would make you think it would be fairly robust. However, there are several weak spots in the design that tend to cause leaks. The CSF Race-Spec design reinforces the weak points, especially around the feed and return lines.
CSF’s solid line connection block can handle any abuse thrown at it while the reinforced and braced return tube is rock solid. CSF also upgraded the more fragile Tub/Fin core to a robust and durable Bar/Plate design. The core is 40% larger than the factory unit with 2 additional rows of oil cooling and much thicker core (63mm vs OE 45mm). This offers superior cooling capacity and volume for the oil system. TIG welded end tanks round out the slew of upgrades creating a much stronger connection than the factory brazed construction.
6. CSF Radiators High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator
The factory radiator for the E60 M5 and E6X M6 are pretty nice all aluminum units. While they have proven to be fairly robust, age and additional power tend to push them over the edge. Owners who have superchargers tend to have the most issues with their radiators. Between the extra heat produced with forced induction and the heat exchanger mounting in front of the radiator, the factory radiator is working overtime. The E6X models are also getting close to 20 years old and entering the “future classic” stage of life with many owners doing restorations and updates. Anyone who has restored/updated an older car knows the value of having upgraded parts that are as efficient as possible.
The CSF radiator features a 2-Row 42mm aluminum core that not only increases the fluid capacity of the radiator, but also improves the cores ability to dissipate heat. CSF’s Exclusive B-Tube Technology increases the heat transfer by approximately 15% over regular oval welded tubes. Between the 6 additional rows of cooling tubes/fins and the thicker 42mm 2 row core, the CSF Radiator will outperform the OEM unit by a significant margin. In addition, the super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for the best possible performance. The radiator mounts in the factory location and requires no modifications or cutting.
Part Number: #7218
Product Name: CSF Radiators High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator BMW E60 M5 | E6X M6 2006-2010
8. VR Tuned ECU Flash Tune
To take the S85 V10 nearer to perfection, the team here at Vivid Racing made a few changes. It started with establishing a baseline and truly testing the limits of the V10, and to our pleasant surprise, it managed to put down 507chp and 384ft/lbs of torque on 91 octane in the arid Arizona heat. However, we knew BMW had left a little bit of room for improvement, and we love improvement. After brunch at the VE table, an otherwise completely factory V10 found an additional 57hp and 43ft/lbs of torque, but that wasn’t all. With our modified ignition mapping and refinement of the throttle response, this E60 felt like a completely different beast. Unfortunately, though, this is as far as we were able to get on our initial session. If you want to pull every last ounce of potential out of your S85 and our VR Tuned Flash Tune, we highly recommend the upgrade to the B&B Axle Back Exhaust and B&B Exhaust Midpipe… but only when you think you can handle it.
Part Number: #VRT-E60-M5
Product Name: VR Tuned ECU Flash Tune BMW M5 E60 E61 V10 2006-2010
Features:
#1 priority is our customer service to you!
Our tuning is used worldwide.
We can tune vehicles for different types of environments.
Most ECU Tuning can be reverted back to stock.
With the VR Tuned ECU Flash, basic bolt-on performance parts will not require a retune of your ECU.
For gasoline vehicles, if you add higher octane fuel, the ECU will adjust accordingly.
Tested and proven files that are safe, reliable, and give you the results you want!
There are dozens of other great ways to modify your E60/E63. Let our performance specialists help you decide what’s right for you by calling 1-480-966-3040 or emailing [email protected].
They'll be living here at 3a Birch Alley. It's a small house next to the Grimsbanes. There used to be just a big patch of empty yard belonging to the O'Donnells' old house here, but I used the Lot Adjuster to squeeze a new 1x1 lot here instead. As I freely admit I dislike building and am rubbish at it, the lot is downloaded again from plasticbox here!
DAILY SCRIPTURE READINGS (DSR) 📚 Group, Fri April 11th, 2025 ... Friday of the Fifth Week of Lent, Year C
Reading 1
__________
Jeremiah 20:10-13
I hear the whisperings of many:
"Terror on every side!
Denounce! let us denounce him!"
All those who were my friends
are on the watch for any misstep of mine.
"Perhaps he will be trapped; then we can prevail,
and take our vengeance on him."
But the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion:
my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph.
In their failure they will be put to utter shame,
to lasting, unforgettable confusion.
O LORD of hosts, you who test the just,
who probe mind and heart,
Let me witness the vengeance you take on them,
for to you I have entrusted my cause.
Sing to the LORD,
praise the LORD,
For he has rescued the life of the poor
from the power of the wicked!
Responsorial Psalm
_____________
Psalm 18:2-3a, 3bc-4, 5-6, 7
R. (see 7)  In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
I love you, O LORD, my strength,
O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
R. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
My God, my rock of refuge,
my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!
Praised be the LORD, I exclaim,
and I am safe from my enemies.
R. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
The breakers of death surged round about me,
the destroying floods overwhelmed me;
The cords of the nether world enmeshed me,
the snares of death overtook me.
R. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
In my distress I called upon the LORD
and cried out to my God;
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
R. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
Verse Before the Gospel
__________
See John 6:63c, 68c
Your words, Lord, are Spirit and life;
you have the words of everlasting life.
Gospel
----------
John 10:31-42
The Jews picked up rocks to stone Jesus.
Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from my Father.
For which of these are you trying to stone me?"
The Jews answered him,
"We are not stoning you for a good work but for blasphemy.
You, a man, are making yourself God."
Jesus answered them,
"Is it not written in your law, 'I said, 'You are gods"'?
If it calls them gods to whom the word of God came,
and Scripture cannot be set aside,
can you say that the one
whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world
blasphemes because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
If I do not perform my Father's works, do not believe me;
but if I perform them, even if you do not believe me,
believe the works, so that you may realize and understand
that the Father is in me and I am in the Father."
Then they tried again to arrest him;
but he escaped from their power.
He went back across the Jordan
to the place where John first baptized, and there he remained.
Many came to him and said,
"John performed no sign,
but everything John said about this man was true."
And many there began to believe in him.
***
FOCUS AND LITURGY OF THE WORD
The first reading today is part of a larger section that goes back to the beginning of the chapter. The theme, “terror on every side,” is a key emphasis in the whole Book of Jeremiah. According to the Jewish leadership, Jeremiah was a traitor. He prophesied that the only possible way for Israel to survive the onslaught of the Babylonians was to surrender. As you can imagine, this was not a popular point of view.
Therefore, Jeremiah’s life was constantly threatened. At the beginning of chapter 20, the leader of the temple responds to Jeremiah’s public warnings by hitting him and then having him put in the stocks overnight. In response, Jeremiah tells him that there will be “terror on every side” for he, his family, and the young people of his town.
Jeremiah really hated his message. I mean, how many of us would like to be branded as traitors? Earlier in the chapter, Jeremiah tells God that he didn’t realize how badly being the Lord’s prophet would go for him. To God he says, “You duped me, and I was duped.” In fact, Jeremiah was determined not to prophesy anymore. He tried not to speak on the Lord’s behalf but, after trying to hold it in, eventually, like an explosion, he would speak his words of doom and destruction. He couldn’t hold it in, so things got worse and worse.
He knew that people were whispering about how to destroy him. Even those who were his former friends denounced him and looked for ways to trap and eliminate him. It must have been especially hard when he found out that the men of his hometown were plotting to kill him. Truly, terror was on every side and Jeremiah didn’t take it very well. He wanted vengeance on those who were trying to kill him.
Whenever I think of Jeremiah I am reminded of the prosperity Gospel. If you trust in God, you will be healthy and wealthy. Jeremiah trusted in God, and it got him nothing but misery. Of God, Jeremiah says, “he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!” Jeremiah was found to be telling the truth. The nation fell to the Babylonians. Almost everyone but the poorest were carted off to Babylon. You would think that Jeremiah would be celebrated as a true prophet of the Lord. Well, against his advice, the people in the land fled to Egypt and forced Jeremiah to go with them. Eventually they couldn’t handle the truth, so they killed him. Healthy and wealthy? No – dead!
Jeremiah has a thing or two to say to those Prosperity Gospel preachers. Everything will be just rosy, if you trust in God. Ha, Jeremiah would laugh in their face. Of course, we are preparing to celebrate what Jesus did on the cross. What trust and it led to his death, too.
Have a blessed Holy Week. The true wealth is found in what happened then.
SAINT OF THE DAY
Saint Stanislaus
(July 26, 1030 – April 11, 1079)
Saint Stanislaus’ Story
Anyone who reads the history of Eastern Europe cannot help but chance on the name of Stanislaus, the saintly but tragic bishop of Kraków, patron of Poland. He is remembered with Saints Thomas More and Thomas Becket for vigorous opposition to the evils of an unjust government.
Born in Szczepanow near Kraków on July 26, 1030, he was ordained a priest after being educated in the cathedral schools of Gniezno, then capital of Poland, and at Paris. He was appointed preacher and archdeacon to the bishop of Kraków, where his eloquence and example brought about real conversion in many of his penitents, both clergy and laity. He became bishop of Kraków in 1072.
During an expedition against the Grand Duchy of Kiev, Stanislaus became involved in the political situation of Poland. Known for his outspokenness, he aimed his attacks at the evils of the peasantry and the king, especially the unjust wars and immoral acts of King Boleslaus II.
The king first excused himself, then made a show of penance, then relapsed into his old ways. Stanislaus continued his open opposition in spite of charges of treason and threats of death, finally excommunicating the king. Enraged, the latter ordered soldiers to kill the bishop. When they refused, the king killed Stanislaus with his own hands.
Forced to flee to Hungary, Boleslaus supposedly spent the rest of his life as a penitent in the Benedictine abbey in Osiak.
Reflection
_________
Saints John the Baptist, Thomas Becket, Thomas More, and Stanislaus are a few of the prophets who dared to denounce corruption in high places. They followed in the footsteps of Jesus himself, who pointed out the moral corruption in the religious leadership of his day. It is a risky business.
Saint Stanislaus is the Patron Saint of:
Poland
Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason. <3
tagged by @shireness-says and @spartanguard and @thisonesatellite
First fic: foreign, but familiar, a little sailor moon number i did a looooong time ago because it was crawling around in my head.
Last fic: literally just finished the part of a swan after a two-year hiatus. regency AU, captain swan, inspired by sarah maclean's casino series and a lot of very horny lorraine heath.
Only once: that would be foreign, but familiar again. i have pieces of a much longer fic scattered across my cloud drives that i turn to for self care, but it is just for me, not for posting.
Favorite fic from the fandom I’ve written in most: tough call but i think i need to go with from the edge of the deep green sea, a captain swan 3a divergence with a curse and a mermaid that pulled me deep into my teenage 90s playlist feels.
Fic I wish more people read: probably three thousand one hundred and ninety-one, a little fic that started as a series of prompts written in august 2020. it's got all of my favorite tropes and bullshit piled up in one place, but i also think it is a little unique stylistically and in its structure.
Fic I agonized over: for tonight you're only here to know, which started off simply enough but really got caught in my head for a minute while i worked through it. a very favorite of mine, though, for the writing and the weirdness of it. captain swan AU, no plot, just vibes. or maybe my 2b divergence try/cry/why (just a dream), which i rewrote more times than i care to think about because i got very caught up in the headspace of this fic.
Fic that sprang fully formed: none of them (sob), but the one that came closest was the last test and proof, a 3b no-curse divergence which started as a prompt in august 2020 that i literally wrote in maybe fifteen minutes. the subsequent sections required considerably more work. 😅
Work(s) I’m proud of: voices from the yellow road, a captain swan modern AU epistolary joint that i was low-key obsessed with while i was writing it. i still think there's not much else in the fandom quite like it. and the fic of my heart: our little life (rounded with a sleep). it's a OUAT season 1 au with a noir twist written for the 2020 Captain Swan Rewrite-a-Thon.
HAL JORDAN VISITS METROPOLIS (1949)
Tumblr media
Hal Jordan follows Clara Kent, art by Wil4🏳️‍🌈⃤Comms open. Kingpin of Penguin. (@FAWil4) / X
[A fragment of a fanfic I'm writing, about a gender-bent Superman set in the 1940s, a golden age Clara Kent/Superwoman, and the origins of the Justice League, here introducing Hal Jordan but also Alan Scott and Hank Henshaw. The fanfic is ongoing and this chapter still not published, you can read it here THE SUPERWOMAN FROM KRYPTON - LordMallory -[Archive of Our Own]]
October 4, 1949
Captain Hal Jordan reread the document slowly, trembling from head to toe. He couldn't believe what he was reading. The document appeared to have been clumsily typed on a yellowed, overly thin sheet of paper. The ink was purple—different from most of the documents he was reviewing.
Two relatively blurry photos were attached to the left side of the paper. The lower photograph was unmistakable—recognized by everyone—the Woman of Steel, the Woman of Tomorrow, the Maid of Might, the Protector of Earth, the Caped Wonder, the Last Daughter of Krypton, the Princess of Krypton, Mrs. Kala-El… Superwoman. A half-body shot, soaring through the sky. The other photo depicted a woman in her late twenties, very beautiful, with a somewhat melancholic gaze hidden behind round glasses and dressed in an office suit that struck a balance between elegance and austerity. Despite the glasses and her neatly tied-up hair, the resemblance was undeniable.
With growing distress, he reread the document once more.
The coincidences in the texts, the uncanny resemblance of their features—it all crowded his mind. It couldn’t be. Could that almost anonymous journalist and Superwoman be one and the same? The dates, the places, the two photographs... A defiant kind of bravery seemed to lurk behind the melancholic gaze framed by the journalist’s round glasses.
What to do?
Captain Hal Jordan did not hate Superwoman. If anything, he hated his job.
Regardless of the fact that she had likely saved all of humanity from those near-faceless invaders in Hudson Bay—the ones who claimed to come from her planet—back in 1946, three years ago, an eternity ago... Regardless of that, he owed her his life. Two years earlier, he had been sent on an emergency flight to Florida with another team of pilots—naturally, at the request of Colonel Henshaw. A storm had hit. Zero visibility. He wasn’t the one flying, but it didn’t matter. He knew they were going to die. They couldn't reach land; fuel was running out.
Then, through the rain and lightning, he saw it—a long red cape billowing outside his window, and beneath it, a familiar cascade of wavy black hair. She took control of the aircraft with unshakable precision and guided them to solid ground. She landed them safely and vanished before he could see her face. But it was obvious. It was her.
Now, before him lay the documents on Mercy Graves—Lex Luthor’s secretary. She had been arrested weeks earlier, after Luthor’s death and the attack of that monstrous being now called Doomsday. Defeated, of course, by the Woman of Steel. There were more documents, he knew that much. But he and his three-person team had been given only this pile—the contents of Mercy Graves’s safe. Lex Luthor’s own safe was simply empty.
Hal Jordan worked for Colonel Hank Henshaw now. Or was he more of a prisoner? He functioned, for all intents and purposes, as a personal secretary within naval aviation intelligence—or so they had told him. The truth was, he worked in a tiny, insulated unit. Recruiting and investigating test pilots. Transporting documents from one military base to another, including to that so-called “secret” facility in Nevada—whose existence the press had already exposed. Reviewing and responding to correspondence. Photographing schematics he didn’t understand and never asked about. Always under the unblinking, menacing gaze of Colonel Henshaw.
Henshaw.
Hal Jordan felt like his captive.
Shortly before the war, his best friend, Alan Scott—then a civil engineer in the defense department—had introduced him to the colonel. My friend Hal is a real ace in the air, the best pilot I know, Alan had said. Hal had always known the truth about Alan, nearly from the moment they met. Henshaw was a little older than them. And Hal never suspected the true nature of Alan and Henshaw’s relationship—until he saw them once, in the dim light, simply looking at each other. He knew Alan well enough to understand.
He did not feel disgust or contempt toward people like them—only a vague unease and the quiet fear that Alan might be found out. But knowing Henshaw’s secret, too, unsettled him. And Henshaw knew that he knew. That was why he kept Hal close, why he needed to keep him under control.
They fought well together in the war. Same squadron. Under his orders. Henshaw had never said a word about Alan, never hinted at anything. Alan had died in that horrific train accident back in ’42. They never found his body. Henshaw had reacted with staggering violence. Now, Hal worked for that same man—young, ambitious, authoritarian, relentless. Drowning in a flood of chaotic intelligence reports about aliens and grotesque experiments.
He hated it. And he hated Henshaw. Because he knew, deep down, that Henshaw was not a good man.
Captain Hal Jordan couldn’t take the paper out of the room. Every member of the small team was thoroughly searched upon leaving—no documents, no notes, nothing could be smuggled out. He began tearing up the yellowed sheet with its strange purple ink, the two damning photographs. He crumpled the fragments, stuffed them into his mouth, and swallowed. The paper felt like poison going down. He combed through the rest of the documents. Nothing else mentioned Superwoman. Nothing else hinted at her secret identity. That night, he made a decision. He would go to Metropolis. He would ask for a few days of leave—Henshaw was oddly flexible about that. And he would call Carol Ferris.
He missed her. And he was finally ready to accept her offer.
Hal Jordan spent two days lingering around the Daily Planet. Afraid he was being followed. Hours passed as he sat in the building’s lobby, scanning the faces that came and went. He searched for her. He needed to see her. He had no intention of speaking to her, only of looking at her—of seeing her in person, of confirming her existence. It was of extraordinary importance, though he wasn’t entirely sure why.
At the end of the second day, he spotted her.
It was her.
The same eyes.
Clara Kent stepped alone out of the elevator, taller than he had imagined. The almost divine figure from the photographs—the blurred vision framed by the cockpit window—was now wrapped in a blue office suit, a hat perched atop her head. Her glasses were smaller than the ones in the photo. The disguise was clever, but to him, who believed he knew the truth, it was unmistakable. She was the Woman of Tomorrow.
The woman smiled warmly as she parted ways with her colleagues, but the moment she was alone, a shadow of sorrow crossed her face. Hal followed her at a distance along the avenue. She didn’t walk quickly. The woman stopped at a newsstand and bought a film magazine. Then, a bouquet of flowers. Did she live alone? The document had said she did.
She headed toward the subway. He was too close now. At the entrance, a boy of ten or eleven sat on the ground, asking for change for a ticket. Clara Kent paused beside him, knelt down, and spoke softly. She placed a gentle hand on the boy’s shoulder and led him inside. Hal followed. She bought the boy a ticket and kissed his cheek before turning away with sudden resolve.
For a fleeting moment, Hal thought the nervous yet determined look in her eyes was meant for him—but no. It was directed at nothing. At empty space.
Then, she ran. Hal couldn’t keep up. She was gone. Seconds later, as he emerged from the subway, he caught sight of it in the sky—a red and blue blur streaking through the clouds.
He had been right to destroy that document.
Hal Jordan returned to Washington by train. The secret weighed on him, but he would bury it deep within himself—alongside the truth about Alan and Henshaw. He had been trained for this in aviation, to withstand interrogation, to suppress information even under torture.
Carefully, he rehearsed how he would explain it to Colonel Henshaw. That he wanted to go back to being a test pilot. That he needed to live near Carol Ferris. That his career in aviation intelligence meant nothing to him. That he would resign. That he would always be grateful, always at Henshaw’s disposal, even if he worked for Ferris Aircraft. That the documents from Mercy Graves contained nothing of significance.
He could only hope that Mrs. Graves—the woman who, according to rumors, refused to say a word about his late boss—would keep the secret as well.
He would go west. California. Nevada. He would be free. He would fly again. And Carol would be there.
