Attended church for my nephew's First Communion today. The priest is youngish, has the sort of British accent that doesn't pronounce R's*. His tone is light, he tells jokes during the homily, he's trying hard to be friendly and hip and relatable and make Catholicism something Cool™️**.
And then. AND THEN. During the eucharistic uhh ceremony? (is that the term?) he does something I've decided to call the JESUS VOICE. There's a variety of eucharistic prayers (at least four? Maybe more) but all of them have a bit about Jesus taking the bread, giving thanks, giving it to his disciples saying 'Take this all of you etc etc'. And this priest, when he gets to the bit directly quoting Jesus, drops his voice at least an octave and BOOMS out the words. Slowly. Solemnly. JESUS VOICE.
#*I'm aware the technical term is non-rhotic but idk how many ppl know that term. I'm also seething w jealousy bc /I/ had to go to speech th#speech therapy and learn to pronounce Rs. why couldn't I simply live in a non-rhotic accent region#**nice try but it's not gonna work. not when you're paying attention to what's being said (and implied)#am I going to hell for finding amusement in the JESUS VOICE? nah brah I'm good with god#legit admire the priest for sticking to the bit in the face of an audience inclined to scorn. as the youths say: cringe#like it's one thing when it's the usual hardcore Catholic crowd but an event like first communion brings in the family and friends. outside#man I miss Father Tom. he used to speedrun the longest version of the eucharistic prayer. the one with the list of saints#*deep breath* Linus Cleetus Clement Sixtus Cornelius Cyprian Lawrence Chrysogonus John and Paul Cosmas and Damian#John the Baptist Matthias Barnabas Ignatius Alexander Marcellinus Peter Felicity Perpetua Agatha Lucy Agnes Cecilia Anastasia#religion

When you get this, list 3 facts about your favorite sim and send it to the last 3 people in your notifications! Let's get to know each other's sims! <3 (obviously no pressure and feel free to ignore this if you want) (btw ily MWAH)
hiii nene <3 going to answer this for both of them!!
facts for theo:
every year when summer would roll around and theo would be sent to boarding school, he’d always be given the exact same dorm room which he’d have all to himself. same bed, same covers, same drafty windows. he was constantly losing things in his room. he’d set his cardigan down on his desk and the next day it’d be gone. countless things disappearing while he slept. his memory playing tricks on him. but there were some summers where he’d come back and he’d see that same cardigan right there on the back of the door, almost like it’d been waiting for him. things popping back up that he thought he lost so many summers ago. it was unsettling. when things started coming back, he began to develop nightmares.
theo cut most of his hair off when he was seventeen. he did it himself so it was... a mess. he cried a lot. he felt lighter from it just the same as he felt like he was being crushed. then his parents saw what he'd done... they were always angry with him for acting out as a teenager and making it impossible to get his hair cut, but at least his hair still looked somewhat presentable then. after he chopped it all off himself it just looked horrible, almost unsalvageable, so they punished him for it. it felt like he was being punished for so much more than cutting his hair.
theo first started playing with makeup as a child. his au pair would let him dig around in her purse for it and he'd grab fistfuls of makeup like they were buried treasure and pull them out triumphantly before investigating his spoils. he liked to draw on his face and arms with her lipsticks, just these cute little scribbles that she’d have to wipe away afterwards with her thumb.
facts for matthias:
matthias technically died when he was a teenager. he'd drowned. he was dead for nearly a minute but his body was so cold at the time that he was still able to be resuscitated even when the other parties were reluctant to give urgency to his medical aid. he nearly didn’t make it out alive. though, in a way, i guess you could say he didn’t. not really. he certainly wasn’t convinced of it. nobody other than himself and a handful of people who were actually there even know about what happened. truthfully, i don't know that he's ever fully processed the trauma of it. it's centered in a lot of his nightmares.
while matthias's body is littered with scars, the one his mother gave him on his chin is the only one that he can still feel. everywhere else is numb to him, but that one... it's like the phantom sensation of something tugging and stretching over the bloody gape of the wound never went away, his skin forever stuck trying to stitch itself back together. it's been years, a decade for him, but it still feels so raw. being touched there is almost unbearable. it's like he's being ripped open again every time. (fully aware i've shown theo covering the scar with his thumb before... smiles.)
similar to theo, matthias used to play with makeup as a child. imani had a small compact with eyeshadow in it that she’d apply on matthias’s eyelids with her fingertips and then he’d do the same to her. their boarding school had strict rules about no makeup, so she could only get away with with this light golden color that was almost imperceptible. it looked pretty and subtle on her but on matthias it was nearly invisible except for a slight shimmer. it was kind of pointless to put it on him but matthias liked it anyway. she'd always apply it so carefully… that young in age, matthias wasn't used to being touched at all—not unless he was being punished by a teacher. so it was... well, it was nice. he learned how to reciprocate such gentle touches while applying the eyeshadow on her.
#river dipping#asks#wldestluv-rs#oc extras#theodore doe#matthias evanoff#a burning house to live in#echthroi#ts4#was going to just do matthias since i answered something like this but with theo before... but. well. i couldn't /not/ also do theo#also it gave me the excuse to share this screenshot to tumblr lmao#they're sooo gorgeous#anyway................ i tried to say New Things here#but. if i've actually said all this before then just be like WOW!!! NEW INFORMATION!!! WOW!!!!#please......... my memory is so bad just pretend for me okay#<- person who fell asleep before hitting post on this 😭😭😭😭#this was the last ask i finished yesterday…#i’m gonna go back to answering asks here soon#i’d like to have my inbox completely cleared out before the year ends 🧎#i feel so bad abt how long some of these messages have sat here#some of them aren’t even applicable anymore too 😭 like there are ones specifically asking abt halloween and stuff like 😭😭😭#i’m sorry fr avpd is a curse

I have a question. Please don't take this the wrong way, but why do you accept cis male/cis female ships in the Queer Ship Book Tournament? Like Nina Zenik/Matthias Helvar, for example... Nina might be queer, but her relationship with Matthias is not. This is coming from a bi person, by the way.

Weingut Eckehart Gröhl Riesling Niersteiner Ölberg Rheinhessen 2021
Lagenwein / 100% Riesling / organic (in conversion) / 12.5% alc. / 4.7 g/L RS / 7.6 g/L acidity
Ölberg is a south-facing site, next to Hipping. Classic Roter Hang (Rotliegend) red soil. Johannes notes that “there is always wind at the top of this site.” Vinified in half Stückfass, half stainless steel tank. Compact aromas on the nose of grilled peach, smoke, and gunflint with superb length and layered finish. “Ölberg is always calm, not stressed on the palate,” says Johannes Gröhl who spent time honing skills as a Riesling and Spätburgunder specialist at Weingüter Rings and Philipp Kuhn in the Pfalz, and Matthias Knebel in the Terrassenmosel. It is presumed that the Ölberg (Oil Mountain) was named for the oily texture of its wines. ****

The Rust mission -- let you write software that's fast and correct, productively -- has never been more alive. So next Rustconf, I plan to celebrate:
All the buffer overflows I didn't create, thanks to Rust
All the unit tests I didn't have to write, thanks to its type system
All the null checks I didn't have to write thanks to Option and Result
All the JS I didn't have to write thanks to WebAssembly
All the impossible states I didn't have to assert "This can never actually happen"
All the JSON field keys I didn't have to manually type in thanks to Serde
All the missing SQL column bugs I caught at compiletime thanks to Diesel
All the race conditions I never had to worry about thanks to the borrow checker
All the connections I can accept concurrently thanks to Tokio
All the formatting comments I didn't have to leave on PRs thanks to Rustfmt
All the performance footguns I didn't create thanks to Clippy
– Adam Chalmers in their RustConf 2023 recap
Thanks to robin for the suggestion!

First Look: The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25
Porsche Motorsport celebrates the 25th anniversary of Manthey-Racing GmbH with an extraordinary special edition model. With a production run of just 30 cars, the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 was designed and developed by Porsche and Manthey for track days and circuit racing. Like the Porsche 935 which was unveiled in 2018, this vehicle is also based on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six twin-turbo engine producing 515 kW (700 PS). Power is transferred via a 7-speed Porsche dual-clutch gearbox (PDK). The distinct design of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 adopts many vehicle components and elements from familiar and future Porsche racing cars. In terms of technology and aerodynamics, this car bridges the gap between two of the 911 model generations.
“Porsche Motorsport and Manthey have won many races and championships since the team was founded 25 years ago – for example seven times the 24 hours at the Nürburging. Since 2013 the two companies have been closely affiliated. With the unique special edition 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, this successful partnership has moved to the next level,” explains Matthias Scholz, Director GT Racing Cars. “The 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 benefits from the motor racing experience that Manthey and Porsche Motorsport have gained around the world. It is the perfect circuit racing car for ambitious private drivers, and it’s an impressive example of engineering skill.” The inspiration for the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 came from Manthey’s 911 GT3 R, which Nürburgring fans fondly dubbed “Grello” because of its distinctive green and yellow livery. Deliberately placed accents in these colors underline this. The many enhanced add-on components at the same time reflect the expertise that Manthey has acquired in motorsport over the last quarter-century. Grant Larson from Style Porsche then added the final optical touch. Larson has designed such legendary racing cars as the 911 RSR, 911 GT3 R as well as the modern 935 and many more. “The design of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 expresses the long-standing collaboration between Porsche Motorsport and Manthey,” emphasizes Larson. “It amalgamates the respective strengths of each partner into one racing car, and at the same time bridges the gap between the 991 and 992 model generations of the 911. Manthey contributed the basic concept and the technical ideas, with Porsche providing the final design. We used the characteristic colour scheme of Manthey’s ‘Grello’ to specifically highlight certain functional areas of the vehicle.” Like the modern Porsche 935, the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport of the 991 model generation forms the basis for the limited special edition model. The concept of the centrally-positioned radiator is one of its defining features. It resembles that of the 911 GT3 R and has several advantages: its steady, optimal airflow keeps the engine temperature stable over a wide speed range, while the repositioning of the radiator ensures better protection against collision damage. The completely redesigned front apron now features a central inlet to ensure optimal airflow. Like the ‘Grello’, its double flics on the outside increase downforce on the front axle. Moreover, the vehicle features a closed underbody. The carbon fibre front lid has also been completely redesigned. Like in the 911 GT3 R, its two large vents, separated by a center divider, funnel hot air over the roof to the rear wing. A centrally-positioned NACA duct – combined with the Porsche emblem – supplies fresh air to the cockpit. Thanks to the new cooling concept, the radiators in the wheel arches could be dispensed with. This improves the direct airflow to the front brakes, which maintain stable temperatures for longer. Like with the modern 935, the flared wheel arches open into vertical vents for hot exhaust air. A horizontal dividing bar in the vent gleams in the typical Grello colors of Manthey’s 911 GT3 R – a subtle styling feature that is repeated on the flared fenders at the rear. These are connected to the front fenders by a sill and feature a large two-part air inlet. With the suspension, 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 features essential components of the modern 935 including the generously dimensioned 18-inch rims with central locking. In association with the corresponding offsets, this results in a significantly wider track compared to the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. The electronic control systems and steering gear also mirror that of the modern 935. The rear of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 has also received extensive modifications. The rear wing features new side plates and swan-neck support brackets, which ensure uninterrupted flow. The particularly wide rear spoiler forms a unit with the body and, like on the modern 935, serves as a wrap-around separation edge – an element that distinguished Manthey’s first MR model, which was still based on the 996 generation of the Porsche 911. New ventilation openings in the rear lid below the rear window expedite air circulation in the engine bay of the special model. Manthey optimized the design of the functional diffuser, which provides the framework for the newly designed exhaust system. The tailpipes represent a visual highlight. The rain tail lights meet the current regulatory requirements and are also used in the new 911 GT3 Cup (Generation 992). One of the characteristic features of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 is the main racing headlights featuring a four-stripe design. While they originate from the Le Mans-winning 911 RSR in essence, they underwent further development specifically for the special model and are particularly efficient in illuminating the track. As a space-saving measure, the indicators are integrated. The interior, including the welded-in safety cage, has been adopted from the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport and complies with FIA standards.

Eu vi Sombra e Ossos na Netflix e preciso compartilhar...
(este texto tem spoilers)
Hey pessoal!
NO FIM

New terms like “Digital Sovereignty” are becoming popular.
The case it was again brought to the forefront is Microsoft violating GDPR laws as Germany takes action against O365 after it has been found that the cloud solution collects private data.
It is expected from Facebook and google as people are their product; but I always rated Microsoft much much higher in terms of digital data ethics. Its a bit disappointing.…more

The 2023 Dakar Rally heads back to Saudi Arabia for its fourth edition on December 31, with the world's best off-road racers facing 5,000 racing kilometres spread over 14 special timed stages before the chequered flag finally falls at Dammam on January 15. Audi, Toyota and MINI will get challenged during the Red Bull Race. Known as the pinnacle of Rally Raid, the Dakar Rally is a form of long-distance off-road racing that takes place over several days. The rally was born in 1977 after the French motorcycle racer Thierry Sabine got lost while driving his motorbike in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Start of the Dakar Rally After finding his way back to the civilised world, Sabine determined to design a race based on his former experience, starting from Europe, then Algiers and crossing the Agadeze before the rally finishes in Dakar. Dakar Rally was born. The race has grown from destinations in Africa to South America. Now to Saudi Arabia, which may be on- or offroad a total distance of more than several thousand kilometres and requires precise navigation via a road book. Dakar Rally will be the longest since the start, and participants must tackle 5,000 kilometres of notable routes and 14 stages. The trails have more dunes and potential pitfalls than ever before. The prologue starts tomorrow in Yanbu by the Red Sea and ends in Dammam on the Arabian Gulf on 15 January 2023. The 2023 Dakar Rally Athletes The team of champions at the Dakar Rally must endure the racing challenges, and fresh-faced talents must prepare to push themselves to the limit in a decor of the gruelling heat and sands of South Arabia. Drivers in the T1 Car Class, Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-driver Mathieu Baumel (FRA), make their way in a Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1+. The driver aims for a fourth Dakar title. Nasser said: "We're ready to defend our title. It would be incredible to win again." Using the exact vehicle are the drivers (ZAF)/Dennis Murphy (ZAF), Giniel De Villiers and, Lucas Moraes (BRA)/Timo Gottschalk (DEU), who also will return to the rally. Sebastian Loeb (FRA) and co-driver Fabian Lurquin (BEL) push their BRX Prodrive Hunter after being runner-up to Al-Attiyah in 2022. Of course, the Audi Team can't miss out during this critical Dakar Rally race. Three-time Dakar Winner Carlos Sainz and co-driver Lucas Cruz from Spain race in their Audi RS Q e-Tron E2. Monsieur Dakar, Stéphane Peterhansel (FRA) and co-driver Edouard Boulanger (FRA) will join in Audi's three-pronged assault with Mattias Ekström (SWE) and Emil Bergkvist (SWE). Quite the opposite is MINI driver Kuba Przygoński (POL) with co-driver Armand Monleon (ESP) on board. On bikes during the competition are Dakar and FIM World Rally-Raid Championship bike champion Sam Sunderland (GBR), who will represent Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing as he targets a third Dakar victory. "The 2023 race is looking to be one of the toughest ever. I'm under no illusion of what that means.", according to Sam. Another rider is the Australian Daniel Saunders. He scored fourth in 2021 with two-time Dakar winner Toby Price. The Australian said: "The terrain in Saudi Arabia makes the rally very fast. Some stages are a sprint to the finish." Other former Red Bull racers who return are Matthias Walkner (AUT) and Kevin Benavides (ARG), while Štefan Svitko (SVK), Mohammed Balooshi (ARE) and Camille Chapelière (FRA), who are all former champions of the Dakar Rally.
