Man I have so many thoughts on the Seraphim and since it's been over a year since their introduction I've had a lot more of them but overall I kinda.. feel bad for them, more than anything else?

No matter how powerful or scary or cool they are, one thing always remains the most important and unforgettable aspect of them.

They're sentient. They're sapient. They're aware and alive. They're people.

Not just people. But children.

They're just children.

And they have to grapple with being the crossover of two terrible things to be.

A clone of someone else, who's life has already been lived and decided by their own terms, and forced to follow it to the letter, and having no fundamental identity independent of them. only footprints of memories that aren't even their own, purely for the purpose of making them better fighters. How can they be anything more than simple variations or derivatives of "real" people? Can they even consider themselves "real"?

A pacifista. A human weapon. No agency. No humanity. Stripped of everything from will to dreams to freedom to even self-expression and forced to follow commands and never ask questions. Like a soldier. Like less than a soldier. Like a tool.

Like a gun.

Vegapunk said that Kuma's lack of free will would force him to obey, even if they asked him to murder a child. But he originally had free will to begin with. Kuma's life as PX-0, a sentient being with no will of his own, nothing more than a passenger in his own body is a nightmare. S-Bear has known nothing but that nightmare since birth.

People said that Doflamingo was born evil, but in reality, his life was shaped by the events he lived through more than anyone in-universe wants to admit. I wonder how S-Flamingo must feel, forced to carry on Doflamingo's legacy as a monster to the core, regardless of how monstrous he himself might or might not be. i wonder if the pressure of being the clone of a demon will cause a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Hancock's worldwide status was one even she did not want. It was a curse she herself learned to turn into a weapon. S-Snake does not even get the privilege of encountering OR weaponizing the curse herself. Already forced into the limelight without warning, and the eyes won't leave. Everyone already treating her like a celebrity, without a chance to even know what it was like to be a person first.

All she can do now is follow the same government that traumatized her origin and forced her to destroy her home.

Similarly, what of S-Hawk? Moreso than any seraph, any creation of the World Government, surely all eyes are on him to succeed. to be the strongest of the Seraphim and a symbol of total global safety. The world's strongest swordsman, new and improved, right? And what if he isn't? What if he's not as strong as Mihawk? What if he never is? What if he can't do it?

And what if he does? What if he ends up even worse than his origin: a bored god sitting on an empty throne with an empty title, with no one left to challenge him?

Jinbei wanted nothing in the world more than discrimination towards Fish-Men and Merfolk to end, to the degree he'd stake his life on it without hesitation. I wonder how S-Shark, a tool of the World Government, partly born from a race nearly extinguished by them, and forced to uphold their fascist, discriminatory rule against his will feels.

If Crocodile's secret is indeed his transgender identity, then what does that mean for S-Croc? At least Crocodile got the opportunity to keep it under wraps, even if some people do know. S-Croc will never get that opportunity, ever. the whole world on him from birth. Will they even let him be.. him? or will they force him to live in a body and identity that not only isn't even his own, but isn't anybody's at all?

and if it isn't, sure! I suppose he won't have to worry about that. but what of his intelligence? his own ambitions? It's said that Crocodile's greatest attribute was his mind, but the seraphim aren't allowed to break from the orders of others or formulate strategies, so S-Croc would be forced to take orders from people less experienced or intuitive. The footprints of a forgotten dream of wealth, fame, power, and freedom still sputter in his chest. A natural-born leader, forced into the role of lowly weapon, emptily paraded as a hero. How pitiful.

And S-Gecko? Always the runt. The last one. The weakest of the bunch. The world government never cared enough to hide their disdain and contempt for Moria. I can't imagine this won't bleed into how they treat S-Gecko. No matter how hard he works, being treated as nothing more than the worst of the best. Being equated to nothing but failure because his origin was one and constantly put down as "obligatory" and only existing at all because they couldn't get a better warlord to clone instead. Sure, he's not traumatized by the loss of his crew like Moria was.

But at least Moria had a crew.

The Seraphim are scary, and they're powerful. They're not naturally-born organisms, and they're programmed to follow the words of the World Government, even if told to kill in cold blood.

But they're still people.

They're still alive.

They're just children.

For the love of Nika, they're only children.

The " Buggy crews thinks that Buggy is the mother of S-Croc and S- Hawk and  that Mihawk and Crocodile are the fathers "  prompt sequel : the discovery

Crocodile is annoyed by the stupidity of Buggy's crew.

Buggy is scared that his crew will get him in trouble and  angry at them  because now, somehow Crocodile  and Mihawk appear in his dreams, in his WET DREAMS.

Mihawk  seems unaffected but in reality he find this situation entertaining.

During an emergency meeting about this case, Crocodile and Buggy ask "How this thing could happen? ", and Mihawk who said nothing during all meeting says :

"We have two child versions of us whom have joined the crew,  we  are the ones in  this crew that educating them, training them and treat them some much like real children that sometimes we forgot that they are cyborg who shot laser beams from the palm.

Given that they think their leader Buggy can do incredible things, it is likely they would think he could find a way to get pregnant. "

Crocodile definitely has a headache while Mihawk is sipping his wine and watching this go down. Poor Buggy, this whole situation is stressing him out, among other things. He wasn't ready for those dreams.

Then the emergency meeting! Buggy and Crocodile are stressed, only difference is Crocodile is clam on the outside while Buggy is crying and/or yelling about what's going on. Mihawk is drinking his wine still until there might be a fight because Buggy and Crocodile can't come to a agreement.

I love Mihawk's explanation of why it came to this. Love it so much

I'm working on an incredibly long Crocodile-centric fic, which I'm quite proud of already, though I'm still working on it. Here's a short extract, about an interaction between Crocodile and S-Croc

He laughed and writhed, never worrying about hitting the water. Crocodile remembered a time when he could trust like that. This child would never learn differently in the harsh way that he had himself. Where his shattered heart had previously resided, a sprout of something new began to grow, fostered by the laughter of this version of him, and aided in its growth by a fierce protectiveness.

I almost like the reverse, S-croc is so playful and sneaky and jovial that it’s *Luffy* who is protective over him. Tying it to the idea that Crocodile is a Luffy who never found reassurement or security in trusting others — that S-croc is a crocodile before that trauma happened — and is indistinguishable from a Luffy before he found that security and trust in Ace and Sabo. Whether he realizes it or not Luffy getting to play the role of Shanks to this kid.

I'm really busy with updating a bunch of oc reference sheets for artfight at the moment, so there isn't a whole lot of time left for crossguild fanart. do not fret - I'm still very much into this barely functional chaotic bunch of bastards!

I would love to hear some of your crossguild headcanons (not just about the leaders, but about daz, alvida etc. as well)! some of mine, completely out of context are:

mihawk knows a bunch about star signs and horoscopes and while he doesn't believe in them, he will absolutely bring them up to end annoying conversations with people he doesn't like

buggy has a great singing voice! he'd love to use it outside of the shower, maybe brag about it to the other emperors, but it doesn't come up in combat very often...

crocodile does not "always wake up early" or "sleep in until noon". that workaholic couldn't keep a 24 hour sleep schedule if he tried and he isn't trying. he'll pull four all-nighters in a row and pass out for an indefinite amount of time, on repeat

daz has a massive biological family and at least 4 little sisters back in Alabasta. don't ask me why, it came to me in a dream

richie is a really good swimmer - not because he likes it, but because he's one of the only "people" in buggy's crew who doesn't sink like a boulder when he comes in contact with the ocean

Cross guild romance prompt : The crossguild adopted some ways or another S-Hawk and S-Croc and only Crocodile, Mihawk and Buggy know they are clones but the rest of crew don't know. Rumors and theories start developping inside the crew,it is obvious who is the father but the mother and they slowly think that.....Buggy is the mother somehow. Then, because of the apparence of the childrens they think that Buggy have some sort of angelic heritage with makes him cooler.

Funny point : If the three of them are NOT in relationship and they ask themselves why the crew is acting more weird that usual.

I wonder how they would meet S-Hawk and S-Croc, whether they find each other on Karai Island, or the Cross Guild leaders bring them home from another island. It’s just really funny thinking that Buggy’s followers would think Buggy was the mother.

It’s too funny to me, and that they think because of the wings that Buggy has some angelic heritage. Those followers are going ignore the fact that the two are very tall for being whatever age they are. That’s probably because of the Lunarian DNA and the idea that they got gigantification Dr. Vegapunk might have done. I don’t understand how the followers were think this way, but you know this is something they would think. Buggy’s followers are a funny bunch.

Oh, I see them congratulating Buggy, Mihawk, and Crocodile. Those three have to be so confused about it all. Buggy’s inner circle must be absolutely done with all this. I feel like the only time Mohji and Cabaji would think the same as the followers if they are drunk or high. Then I believe Crocodile finding out about this is when Daz asks him about it.

Yeah, it makes it funnier if Buggy, Crocodile, and Mihawk aren’t in a relationship like at all, because I don’t know. It just seems funnier because they even more bewildered. Like the trio is thinking what makes people think they are together. What is it!? I’m having a hard time not laughing at the scenes in my head of their reactions. S-Hawk and S-Croc are there chilling.

i think leon would really really like wearing crocs at home like he has several pairs which include but will not limit to the lightning mcqueen crocs, black crocs, pink sparkle crocs, and blue crocs

also the little charm things spell out his name and he also just has other random ones that luis maybe gave to him and he switches some out every day because its such a big collection and he just loves crocs

also i dont think he would like the feeling of being barefoot on the floor so he either wears socks or crocs or both so he is safe from the evil floors......

I realise I didn't share anywhere what the names I gave the Seraphim meant, when the meanings were a large reason I picked them!

Sorin is the name I gave to S-Croc, which means Sun. It felt right to give another of Croc's children a name related to the sun, and also this kid is the new light in Crocodile's life. The name is Romanian, and so linked to Mihawk.

Brannigan is the name I gave to S-Hawk, which means Little Raven. It only felt right to give a little Mihawk a bird related name. The name is Irish, to honour Crocodile, as the forename I've given to Crocodile is also Irish.

Lasiurus is the name I gave to S-Bat, and it's the name of a type of bat! Again, it felt thematic to give him a bat related name. It also reminded me of Lazarus, who is a character who came back to life, so felt thematic given Moria's whole thing.

And since I mentioned it here, the full name I gave Crocodile is Cargan Aasil Crocodile. Cargan is an Irish name meaning little rock, and sand is made of a lot of little rocks. Aasil is an Arabic name meaning 'to attack violently and persistently' and well that just had Crocodile written all over it

I'm quite pleased with all of them so far - I'll name the other Seraphim as they come about in the CG series

Crocodile realizing he didn't allow himself the opportunity to think up cute nicknames for Luffy when they were separated for all those years. And now he doesn't have just one son who needs cute nicknames, he has three! Baba has to make up for lost time!

He generally calls them terms of endearment when he isn't using a shortened form of their names.

He calls Luffy "Rouhi" which means "My Soul"

He calls Gabriel "Hayati" which means "My Life"

He calls Gryphon "Ayouni" which means "My Eyes"

Bonus: Dragon, Mihawk, and Buggy are "Habibi" which is "My Love" (masculine).

Bonus Bonus: Plover is "Ya Amar" which means "My Moon"
