People once complained that clone fanart was too white, now it is getting ‘too brown’—like brown fans reclaiming a character who was already Māori-coded is somehow offensive to The Canon. What’s next, a clone hex code registry?

No wonder brown fans are off this site and retreating into their own private communities. It's fucking exhausting to see white people police fanart and assume everyone drawing clone fanart is white themselves.

By the way, brown clones get less likes/engagement but you will get crap if they are too pale — it's like Goldilocks walked in and demanded to be served clone art their way in YOUR house. Maybe, you know, brown artists are drawing clones who look like themselves (and not necessarily Tem Morrison), which, shocker, is what transformative works have always been used for: providing representation not in the Canon. But brown fans have so systematically been erased and bullied out of the English-speaking fandom no one remembers that.
