Libgen

Calibre

Gutenberg

Libgen allows you to download ebooks for free. The site moves regularly, last time I knew it was libgen.rs but it's here now:

Is that link now dead? Go to your search engine and enter the term LibGen. You'll find where it's moved to. Go there and download books. Save them to a backup. Burn a disk with them on it. Whatever you have to do to keep knowledge accessible to you and others.

In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, books were banned but people assigned themselves a book and memorized it. Then shared the knowledge. We aren't there nor will we be because in Bradbury's time there wasn't the ability to download and save ebooks.

SO DOWNLOAD AND SAVE EBOOKS EXTERNALLY PLEASE.

Libgen helps you do that. So does Calibre, which is a free open-source ebook creator and an ebook reverser. You can take an epub or mobi and turn it into a PDF or a .docx.

Please do this if you fear knowledge will be lost. Or even if you don't. Just…save save save what you can because Amazon and all the other multi-nationals do not care nor will they care if knowledge goes away.

Finally Gutenberg.org is your one stop free source for books out of copyright. Download, download, download. They also have audiobooks.

I've drawn him a couple of times, just really little/in the background. but I should draw him more, I love this guy a lot! I have many, many thoughts about him and the way he parallels Silver...and also I think it is extremely funny that his ghost is stuck in a ring. especially considering where that ring has been for the last 16-ish years.

Random DP x DC Thought #9:

The fight was desperately going on against the villains near a newly located Lazarus Pit, but despite the heroes best efforts they couldn't prevent one of their own suffering a fatal injury.

Per usual desperation to avoid having to go through life with that loss, the dead person is placed into the Lazarus Pit for revival. (The cost of a bout of possible madness could be dealt with, and at the very least it would remove another one of the pits from the world).

Except this time when the revived person comes back out of the waters, the Lazarus Pit doesn't leave. Shrinks certainly, but still roils and churns before a large, glowing creature with white fur looms over all those gathered. Their blue cape flutters slightly as it floats up above the waters.

"Greetings, I am Frostbite of the Far Frozen. I have come to request-"

A head of white hair and glowing green eyes pops up from behind the being's shoulder.

"STOP THROWING SO MANY PATIENTS INTO PORTALS! YOU'RE STRESSING OUT THE YETIS!"

I'm not sure I can actually fully express how much I love libraries. No matter how long I might go without being in one, they are always there when I need them. Nothing is safer to me than rows of books in a community building. I don't remember lots of my childhood, but I remember what it felt like to stand in my school's library and feel like it was so much larger than it actually was. I remember almost every day after high school I wouldn't be picked up for a while, so I would walk to the public library right next door. I'd sit there for hours, on the floor, picking through whatever was nearby. I volunteered there. I used it to read books my family wouldn't allow me to touch. Even now, as an adult, when I feel unsafe I go to the library. I'll spend all day there, reading, drawing, just sitting. No one wants anything from you for being there. You can just sit and be and it's warm and safe and fun.

A related idea to my last post, but if Shang Qinghua was there when the ritual happened and the ritual latched onto Shang Qinghua and his system as well, I can’t stop imagining a situation where Shang Qinghua actually is a god (he did create the universe after all), but the ritual didn’t latch onto him because he was being suppressed by the system and now the systems trapped and his power is unleashed for the first time in his life and he’s gleefully hacking the system glitch to rewrite the system code.

After the system begins glitching, maybe he pokes it in shock and curiosity and realizes he can touch it now and it’s moldable and he’s able to reshape a bit of it into a keyboard that he can start recoding the system from. And rewriting the universe is literally just rewriting the system code (either recoding it is just rewriting since the world was birthed from pidw—a written novel, or airplane knew coding in his last life).

First thing Qinghua does is disable the system from ever being able to control them again. Second thing he does is make the ritual non existent.

There's gotta be some fucked up moments post canon Binghe experienced that made him pause and go "how did he know that" about SQQ. Like,,, not to keep bringing it up but do yall ever think about how fucked up it would be for someone to know your trauma so intrinsically that they could avoid triggering you without you saying a word about it? How your lover knows without you saying that you can't eat certain foods because that's what ever you could scrounge up in the Abyss tasted like? That you can't talk about certain creatures because you know how they act when they're trying to kill you?? How you fear certain things that are so normal to do that even a small child can do it, yet he never does it once in your presence?? Do you think about it?? He knows you from the most basic interaction to the deepest dark thought, and yet you don't even know his real name?? I think about this CONSTANTLY. Binghe is living the most eldritch horror romcom plot there ever is post canon, good luck man

Happy tdov to fat trans people. 🏳️‍⚧️ Biggest thing that helped me as a trans kid was seeing older fat trans people. There were a lot of really irritating "advice" posts going around early in my time on the internet with a lot of misinformation in them, but one that I constantly saw (in addition to people claiming you should wear your pants rediculously low or only wear button ups) were posts saying you had to lose weight to transition. Can confidently confirm that is completely untrue. 👍

You know what? I’m feelin’ a Prompt with the whole halfa family, all the clones and everything. 

See, Danny? He’s grown up, he’s moved out, started looking at colleges himself after spending a few years travelling and learning about himself without the threat of a ghost attack. 

He’s kept in touch with his friends, both living and dead, and ignores Vlad for the most part now that they’ve reached a truce of sorts, and honestly? He’s just living his life. 

But see, it’s kind of hard to figure out what college to pick, with his admittedly not-great choices. Look, he might have a new-ish ID but he’s still visibly not exactly human (though thankfully doesn’t have to worry about the GIW after a… summer activity that ended with several missing buildings) 

And most people he goes to? Finds him ‘too unsettling’ which excuse him?? How is he unsettling? He’s a twenty-five year old with six kids ranging from one to six! How is that “scary” huh? Ancients, and all this is making him use the cash he’s saved up over time. 

And then- as though all of this isn’t stressful enough and he’s not genuinely worried that he won’t have enough money to feed the kids if he goes to school- a hero nearly trips over Jordan and starts freaking out. He is so fucking done.

I'm sorry but like, I can't feel sorry for the mages of the Age of Arcanum. I just can't. I can feel sorry for them on a personal scale, because loss of life is tragic, but I don't mourn the loss of a golden age because there never was one.

It doesn't matter how innovative they were or how magnificent their magics were. Those magics are lost to the world because they didn't share them. If they'd given their knowledge to the world, it would have been too distributed to be completely destroyed the way it was. Instead they floated in golden cities in a golden age for them and them alone, and lost it all when the cities fell. Oh sure, they were "some of the most brilliant minds that ever lived". But how many minds just as brilliant lived and died on the surface without ever learning a spell, because the current mages didn't think they were worthy of knowledge?

I can't mourn their losses when nothing was lost. If they'd lived they'd have just continued hoarding their technology and their science. Exandria learned more from the corpses of their cities than they would have ever given willingly, and that is the most damning thing of all.
