"hey."
the bed beside you dips a little as touya nears, crawling under the blankets on his side, but you don't look up from the puzzle book in your hands—you're just about to finish your crossword, and your brain is already feeling sluggish as you fight the call to sleep. instead you hum, so that he knows you heard him.
"are you... have you...." he can't seem to get the words right, and grunts a bit, like he's frustrated with himself. "you worried about aoi?"
that makes you look up.
"no," you reply to him, eyes scanning over his face. "should i be?"
your three year old daughter aoi is the picture of health—or at least, as healthy as children can really be, considering they seem to be magnetic poles towards which germs naturally gravitate. she's a bit bossy, in spite of her age, and has her older brother and papa (and you for that matter) wrapped around her little fingers. but she's a good girl, mostly kind, and exceedingly bright for her age.
you don't have any reason to worry about her.
at least you don't think you do.
at your side, touya's face is lined with frustration; a furrow creasing the centre of his brow, and his lips turned down into a pensive little frown. he has a book in his hands, you notice. his thumb is stuck between the pages as if to mark his place, but you can't see the cover from the way he's holding it.
"touya?" you prod him for more information, setting your own puzzle book aside.
"she sucks her thumb," touya finally says, though he seems reluctant to share that worry with you. when he finally meets your gaze, you see anxiety swimming behind his eyes. "is that normal?"
you laugh lightly in relief, your head hanging slightly as any real fear in you retreats. "yeah, touya. that's normal."
"are you sure?" he insists, "because this book says that kids suck their thumbs to comfort themselves. why would she need comfort?" he holds up the book in his hand, and when he does, you see that it's a parenting book. you've never seen it before, so he must have bought it recently. the image of touya scouring the shelves at your local bookstore for the right title in the childrearing section is remarkably endearing to conjure to mind.
"touya, baby," you push yourself up on your side of the bed, crawling over to him. you ensconce yourself atop his lap, taking his face in your hands. you meet him nose to nose. "put the book down."
"but it says—"
"i know what it says," you don't let him finish. "and it's probably right—kids do lots of things to comfort themselves, and they do need comfort. and maybe thumb sucking well into your developmental years is even bad for you, but aoi is only three. she's still so little. it's perfectly normal for her to suck her thumb occasionally."
touya seems to soften a bit in the wake of your reassurances, but not relax entirely. he leans his face into the cup of your palm, letting you bear the weight.
"look, if it continues on for too long, or gets worse, then we'll talk to the paediatrician. and we'll talk to aoi, too—because if something is bothering her, we'll make sure she knows she can always tell us. but right now, she is just a perfectly normal, happy three year old, who just happens to enjoy sucking her thumb. okay?"
touya's eyes flutter shut, and after a quiet moment you lean forward press a kiss to the spot where a divot of frustration had earlier creased his brow.
"we're doing a good job, touya," you reassure him, brushing some strands of his soft white hair back from his tired face. "you especially."
not a perfect job, because the longer you trek along the path of parenthood, the more you've come to realize it's a fallacy. you know there's no such thing as a perfect parent. you know no one gets it right one hundred percent of the time. but there are lots of parent who are doing their best—who are trying to be better—and you know that you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who's trying harder to do just that than touya.
touya's eyes open once more. the eyes both your children inherited. the blue you named your daughter after. his gaze is soft—vulnerable in ways that once seemed impossible with the man in front of you—as he peers up at you.
"you think so?" he mumbles softly.
"i do," you answer just as gently as he'd asked, before dipping down to kiss him properly this time—not on his forehead but at the centre of his lips.
touya's hands reach for you eagerly, reciprocating your kiss with an equal enthusiasm, and the parenting book slips from his grip and goes tumbling to the floor with a thud!
both of you freeze, pulling apart from your passionate embrace until your lips rest a hairsbreadth away. your breaths are panting. your heartbeats are thundering in your chests. both of your gazes are fixed firmly on your bedroom door.
neither of you move.
"do you think it woke them up?" he whispers after a terrified moment, his tone heavy with anxiety.
"no, i think we're okay," you answer, your voice equally strained.
but still, neither of you dare to move again, still petrified in place, waiting to hear the telltale pitter patter of little feet along the floor.
after a few more tense beats of silence stretch between you in the stillness of your bedroom, a laugh bubbles up from the pit of your stomach and slips through your lips in spite of your best efforts to restrain it. poised frozen halfway up the back of your shirt, touya's hands pull you a little closer, and he chuckles quietly too. you tilt your lips down to meet his again, giggling into the kiss as touya uses his grip on you to reverse your positions and pin you down to the bed underneath him.
"try to be quieter this time," you chirp up at him breathlessly as his hands travel down your body, but you're smiling too widely for the jibe to have any real bite at all. touya rolls his eyes as he dips down into your space, his lips ghosting over yours again in an almost-but-not-quite sort of kiss.
"i'll do my best," he mumbles.
(but you already knew that.)

sneak peak of my daryl dixon wattpad story coming soon.
Tumblr media
"Go to bed." Daryl shook his head, wondering if she could truly get any worse.
"I'm trying." She argued. "You woke me up 'n now you're stealing all the blanket."
This appauled the man who looked to the hundred blankets stacked on top of the two. "You have like seven blankets! How could I be stealing it?"
"Because you―"
A load groan was heard. "Oh my god!" Glenn from the cell next to them. "If you guys are going to flirt all night could you please take it out to the watch tower?!"
"Flirt?!" Delilah exclaimed in shock. "To the watch tower, for what?! That is wildly inappropriate! Maggie, tell your boyfriend he's being inappropriate! They're are kids around!" Daryl placed a hand atop his face, rolling it down and wondering if he'd ever get a little sleep.
"It's okay!" She snapped her head to the cell at the other side of her, the childlike voice of Carl Grimes. "I couldn't sleep anyway!"
"Carl! Go to bed!" Was that Lori?
"Congrats, guys!" This must have been T-dog, they'd recognise the accent anywhere. "You woke the pregnant lady!"
"Delilah woke me first!" Glenn insisted. "With her awful loud snoring!"
"Excuse me?!" This time, she physically got up from the bed. "I do not snore!" Her head snapped down to Daryl Dixon who simply couldn't contain the chuckle he let out. "Are you laughing? He's laughing! Daryl, you're supposed to be on my side."
"Even he knows you snore!"
"Glenn Rhee! If you don't shut your mouth right this second I will forbid you from dating my sister!"
"You can't do that!"
"I don't know." Maggie finally chiming in. "I value her opinion."
"See! She values my opinion!"
Daryl turned his face into the pillows beneath him, smiling softly.
Home, at last.

Yunho X Reader ( ft Wooyoung & Mingi )
WC : 1.4K of p0rn with very little plot ; not proofread
TW : Unprotected intercourse ( wrap it up kids ) Cockwarming, Exhibition (being listened to) Dirty Talk, Name calling ( Slut ) Praise, Use of nic name ( Baby, princess, pretty )
Tumblr media
"Shhh baby, you don't want the rest of the guys to hear you do you? Don't want them to know what a little slut you actually are" Yunho says as he adjusts both of you in his gaming chair. You whimper in response as you feel his thick cock shift inside you.
You're trying to wrap your head around how you ended up in this position. Yunho was having his normal weekly gaming night with Wooyoung and Mingi and you had been peacefully reading your book laying on his bed. 40 minutes ago he called you over to sit on his lap, saying he needed some good luck. One thing led to another and here you were straddling his hips, his hard dick buried in your cunt.
"Woo over there by that wall" Yunho says into his headset as he looks over your shoulder. Your head nuzzled into his neck as you try not to pant and whine too loud. His arms caging you in as he looks at his screen. His long pretty hands pressing the buttons on his keyboard. "Yuyu" you whimper into the side of his neck as you try and hold still. The ache between your legs becoming to much for you. "Shh babe" he coos at you as his hand comes up to push on your back, trying to muffle your voice.
All it does is shift your body forward, Yunho's cock shifting inside you hitting places that have you seeing start. A strangled moan leaving your lips as you throw your head back, the same time Yunho lets out a sharp gasp. The sound echoing through his room. "What was that?" you hear Mingi ask through the head set. Your chest heaving as you lean back looking at Yunho with wide eyed. A playful smirk plastered across his mouth as he says "Oh that was just Y/N. She apparently cant sit on my cock with out moaning like a needy whore" You feel your face heat under the blush that spreads across it.
"Yunho" you whisper yell at him. "Dude..... you have her sitting on your cock right now? While we're playing?" you hear Wooyoung say through the mic. "I sure do. She couldn't help herself, grinding all over me before" "YUNHO!" you shriek as you bury your face back into his shoulder. "What?" He chuckles "I told you to be quiet or they would hear you" You huff and try to lift your self up and off his lap, but you don't get far before his arm is wrapped around your waist pulling you back down. "Oh no where do you think you're going baby?" Another needy moan slipping past your lips as you slide back down on his shaft. Yunho lets out the same. "Oh did you like that baby? Fuck feels so good"
"Yuyu" you whisper breathlessly. "oh you can't. Hold on" You watch as Yunho removes his head set and unplugs them, plugging in a few new wires and pushing a few buttons before he asks "Can you hear me" followed by both Mingi and Wooyoung's voice filling the room. The horror you felt must have been all over your face because Yunho chuckles "They said they couldn't hear you babe. We want to be good friend's now don't we and let them listen" You knew this was his way of asking you if you were okay with this. You knew if you said no, he would shut it down. Yunho had never done anything to make you even close to uncomfortable.
But you couldn't deny the shock of pure pleasure that shot through you when you figured out that they could hear you, and you them. "Yes" you said softly "Want to be good for all of you" As soon as the words left your mouth three things happened. 1) You heard all the air leave Wooyoung's lungs. 2)Mingi let out the neediest groan and 3) The biggest smile crept its self across Yunhos face. "That's my girl" he said as he leaned in a placed the sweetest kiss to your lips. "Now move for them baby" he says against your lips "let them hear all your pretty sounds."
And you do. You would do anything this man said right now If it kept you feeling this way. Slowly you begin to pick up your hips, dragging yourself up his length before coming back down again. Little mews and moans leaving your lips as you look at Yunho watching you, his hands grabbing your hips. Slowly you pick up speed, bouncing on his lap faster, harder, pulling grunts of pleasure from his throat as he tried to control himself.
You on the other hand have lost all sense of self preservation and are a moaning, whining mess as you fuck yourself on your boyfriends dick. "God she sounds so good" Mingi deep voice grunts through the speakers in the room and you have know doubt in your mind that he has his cock in his hand listing to you. "So good" Wooyoung coo's back. Your walls tighten at their praise sending a moan slipping from Yunhos lips.
"Fuck baby you like that? You like them telling you how good you sound?" He asks, his hips jerking up to meet your body. You shake your head enthusiastically. "They can't hear you princess, use your words or have you gone dumb on me? Hmm?" "Yess" you moan out "Yes I like it yuyu" your hands snacking up his body to rest on his shoulders, giving yourself leverage to fuck yourself on him harder.
"Fu- fuck" Mingi moans "She sounds so pretty" The sound of your panting and your thighs slapping agains Yunhos hips fills the room along with the pants and whimpers from the speakers. "You should see how pretty she looks" Yunho breaths out "Maybe one day you can show Mingi baby, show him how well you ride cock" Your body heats up and your core clenches around him at the thought of his best friend watching you fuck him "Oh Mingi I think she likes that idea"
"Do you pretty? You like the idea of me being there? I like the idea" Mingi groans out, the tell tail sound of slapping filling the room lets you know either him or Woo are jerking them self to you and it elights another sensation of pleasure in you. "Hey what about me?" Woo whines "Well see about you" Yunho laughs. "Yuyu im-" His hand comes up to cup your cheek "I know baby, I know me too"  he says as he lifts his hips to meet you. His other hand sneaks between your bodies and finds your bundle of nerves "Just let go for me baby"
It doesn't take long, between Yunho thrusting up into you, hitting that sweet spot just right, his finger in your clit rubbing circles just the way you like and Mingi and Wooyoung's groans and pants filling the room you are sent over the edge. Your body jerking forward till you were flat against Yunhos chest. Clamping down on his cock, your walls flutter around him just as he shoves back inside you and stills. His cock twitching as he fills you with his load.
The both of you reaching the loudest you have been the whole time, followed by the sound of Mingis deep grunts filling the room letting you know he followed behind the two of you. The only tell of Woo finishing was the heavy panting from his end. You stayed pressed up against Yunhos chest as his hand came up to stroke your back, helping you calm down. The reality of what you just did washes over you and you bury your face in his chest. Embarrassment eating away at you.
It's Wooyoung who breaks the silence first. "Ughh, I'll talk to you guys later.. Gotta clean up. Bye" and with a quick click he's gone. Its Mingi who lets out a chuckle after that "You got him all embarrassed there pretty" You shift to look at Yunhos computer screen, like you half expected to actually see your boyfriends 6ft blond best friend looking back at you. "Didn't mean to" yo mutter out. "Awww don't go getting all shy now baby. Don't forget we promised Mingi he could see just how well you ride remember"
You look up at Yunho, meeting his big chocolate brown eyes and that sweet smile and you instantly melt. "Yea pretty, I want to witness that first hand" you hear Mingi say. You nod your head yes up at Yunho before remembering Mingi cant hear you. "Yea.. okay" you say softly. A smile forming on your face as Yunho leans down to place a kiss onto of your head, you think to your self, what did you get yourself into?

Part 1
When you woke up the next morning, it was to a searing pain in your shoulder and your knuckles. It took a few moments for you to realize where you were and a small moment of panic set in as you felt two pairs of arms wrapped around you gently. You tried to brush them off before gasping out in the shoot of severe pain radiating from your shoulder. A gasp that caused Natasha to shoot up from her sleep.
“Detka?” She asked her hands floating above your body as if not wanting to hurt you more but also wanting to help you in anyway she could. “What are you doing? You’re on bedrest from your shoulder injury.”
“I-I-I don’t know…” You muttered looking at the redhead confused. “You… you don’t like me… why am I in your bed?” Your question must have hurt Natasha because the flash of pure anguish in her eyes was noticed.
“Detka… we talked last night… you-you… what is happening?” Natasha asked, a look of pure confusion on her face. “Is this a side effect of your meds?”
Your eyes widened as flashes of last night came to you. “Oh fuck…” You muttered chewing on your lip. “You guys know…”
“We do but like we said last night darling, this doesn’t change how we feel about you. But we still have so much to make up to you for the last few days. We acted disgustingly.” You heard with the lilt of a soft sokovian accent, making you turn your head to face a sleepy looking Wanda. “Darling lay back down and I will go make your breakfast to take your meds with. Alright?”
You took a deep breath and looked down at your hands, more flashes of the previous night coming to you. “I didn’t hurt either of you did I?” The immediate response was a round of no’s. “Okay… I… I don’t know how to feel about you two right now… you really hurt me…”
“I know darling but you need to be taken care of and right now the safest place for you is with us so we know you are taking your meds and not stressing your shoulder. As soon as your healed you can go back to your room and never see us again if you want.” Natasha said with a tone of finality that made you nod and settle back down against Wanda. You were too tired to fight them at this moment anyways.
You felt her shift you gently over to be on Natasha as your eyes fluttered slowly. You felt yourself drift off again and before you knew it, Wanda was shaking you awake gently, a tray of food sitting on the bedside table. In her hands were a cup of 4 different pills and a bottle of water. You grimaced and buried yourself further into Natasha who chuckled soflty. “No detka… time to take your meds.”
“I’m to nauseous… I’ll just throw it up…” You muttered, hoping they took that at face value and allowed you to go back to sleep however it seemed to be your unlucky day.
“We did a little research last night darling. You’re nauseous because of withdrawal. You need to take your meds because itll help with it, I promise darling.” Wanda said, sitting on the bed beside you gently. You groaned and sniffled looking up at her with your classic puppy dog eyes that she usually gave into. “Nope. As much as I miss those adorable eyes of yours, you still have to take all these pills.
You groaned and shifted to be sitting more upright and sent a pouty glare at Wanda who smiled softly. Your eyes flittered down towards the small cup of pills as you sifted through them, unsure what the last one was. “Two painkillers, adhd meds and…?” You questioned looking up at the brunette sitting in front of you.
“Cho put you on some antibiotics as well for the infection in one of your cuts on your leg.” You nodded, holding your hand out for her to spill the pills into your open hand. After she did so, you tossed the pills into your open mouth then took the uncapped bottle and took a swig to swallow the pills making a face at the sour taste. You pushed the bottle back into Wandas hand with a small grunt. “Good job baby.”
You rolled your eyes and slouched back down, your body telling you, you had done enough for now. “We should try and shower later honey.” You scoffed with yet another roll of your eyes. You felt a surge of annoyance and anger roll through your body.
“You aren’t my parents. You are barely my girlfriends right now because I don’t know if you know this or not but you treated me like abslute crap the last week. You ignored me and then tried to fucking lecture me.” You said, tears of frustration threatening to roll out of your eyes. “I didn’t do anything wrong. We get put into deadly situations everyday and you two snapped at me over something that could have happened to anyone on the team. I’m sorry I’m not perfect enough-“ Your body finally couldn’t hold the sobs in anymore. “You really- fucking hurt me.” You said between sobs.
The two merely pulled you into their arms again and allowed you to sob to let out the emotions. “I hate this… I hate not having control of my fucking emotions…” You mumbled. “This is the worst…”
Wanda hummed, running her fingers through your hair which helped calm you down but also caused you to really settle into the fatigue you suddenly felt again. “Not yet darling… you need to eat something first or you will throw up.” Wanda said, holding out a piece of plain buttered toast. “Eat this then you can go to sleep alright?” You whined looking up at Natasha with your puppy dog eyes again.
“Oh wanda… maybe this one time she can skip it…” The redhead cooed, brushing hair out of your eyes. Wanda scoffed and shook her head.
“No absolutely not. Toast then you can sleep.” The brunette said causing you to pout again, your eyes welling up again. You shook your head looking back at the brunette sniffling. “Im sorry baby but it will help and you know it. Eat the toast then sleep.”
You opened your mouth to show you wanted to be fed. The witch helped you eat the toast before you curled back up into the assassin below you.
It was going to be a hard few days as your body readjusted to the meds but no matter how mean or grumpy you got, Natasha and Wanda took the abuse happily as it meant you were still alive and in their arms.

Spoiled and Loved
Art Donaldson x Fem!Reader
In every way, you were the person that made the college experience that much better for Art. You, on the other end, were still struggling to find your place at Uni.
Watnings: inscure reader, lost reader, small angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, reader has rich parents, one s3x joke
Tumblr media
There he was. In your usual spot in the cafeteria eating a lunch that his athletic nutritionist must've assigned him to eat. God was your boyfriend beautiful... "Baby?" He called you out of your trance and you smiled at him. "Come?" He motioned for the chair in front of him with his head. You walked toward it and sat down with your lunch that was healthy but certainly not planned. "Hey!" You said. You started eating and asking how his morning practice was and he smiled throught it all. After finishing his lunch and while explaining his morning, he drew mindless doodles on your left hand with a pencil. One was a tennis racket the other a heart and another a paint brush. Once he was done, silence had fallen and Art looked up at you, stopping his drawing. "Y/N?" Art asked while looking for your gaze. "Hmm?" You answered still looking at your left hand. "Look at me." He asked and lifted your head up with the help of his palm on your jaw. You looked at him and smiled. "How was your day so far, baby?" He then asked with certainty. You sighed and went to look down again, only to feel your boyfriend rubbing your jaw and hearing him hum no. When you met his gaze again you felt it.
The need to tell him the truth.
"Art?" He nodded at your interpellation, waiting for you to continue. "I don't think I belong here." You had felt like this for a while, but your boyfriend's joy at being here made that feeling simmer down a little.
That was until yesterday.
"That's Donaldson's girlfriend, right?" A girl said behind you during your history of the arts lecture. You normally tuned these type of conversations out, but today your ears decided that it was a mighty fine time to do as they wanted. "She play any sports?" The girl, Jenny from what you heard her friend call her earlier, proceeded to ask her friend, Luna. "Not that anybody knows of. Not to his level at least." The other girl answered with a certain turn in her voice. It wasn't a nice one at that. ""But she must do something else around campus for her to be with him, right?" Jenny continued her interrogations. "The only place other than her lectures that people see her at are Donaldson's games. She just does those two things that includes school life. People have said and know that she doesn't even have a major yet. She just does classes until she finally finds something that makes her spark. It's pathetic really." Luna said and chuckled with her friend who fired back : "Why would he want to be with her? If I were Art Donaldson-" And you never heard the last of her life hacks, because your ears decided you had been tortured enough as it was. The notes you had started taking were the only ones you took for the rest of the 3 hour lecture. Well, what was one more exam failed?
You would stay in this godforsaken place until you found a stupid major to work in life with.... Why bother studying right now? Your parents paid for your acceptance at Stanford. Your life was as corrupted as that.
"What do you mean Y/n/n?" Art asked with a concerned look and rubbed his tumb over your jaw. "I don't know what I mean by that. But that's also a problem, I never know..." you tried to explain but it was still unclear to him. He only wanted to comfort you and make you feel at ease at all times, but right now he couldn't understand you. That made him mad at himself. "I don't know what I am going to major in, I don't know why I went to college in the first place and I don't know what you find in me. Before you start to argue that point, I have to tell you that I don't doubt your love, I doubt my ability of being loved right now. I am a mess Art... I can't do it anymore! The only thing I do know, is that I'm going to end up like I always feared..." You continued to elaborate on your feelings while he was listening. "Baby... I love you for who you are. I'm sure what you feared for your future isn't even that bad-" you cut him off on that and laughed while letting some tears flow. "Oh yeah, it is. I will end up as every other rich kid who doesn't amount to nothing and will live off my family's money for my whole life." You said and removed his hand from your face. You didn't feel deserving of his touch right now. "Stop." He said sternly. How could he have left this go this far? How couldn't he have seen you were feeling like this? How bad of a boyfriend was he? "Y/n, you are not messed up. You are beautiful and intelligent and you are worth more than your family's wealth. You are important. Not only to me but to a lot of people. Listen, college isn't for everyone, baby. I know it 's easier listening than believing, but please don't pull away from me." He had tears brimming his eyes now.
What did you do to deserve him?
"I love you, Art. I'm sorry for upsetting you..." You explained and held his hand that had been squeezing the edge of the table. "Don't, baby. You do not have to appologize. I should appologize for not seeing how you had been feeling. Please... talk to me about these things. I want to be there for you like you are for me." He took your hand back in his to play with it lightly. "Okay." You said and smiled softly at him. "Okay?" He asked smiling softly too while looking into your eyes. "Yeah. I'll talk to you more about my feelings, baby." You nodded and affirmed.
As you both walked to your last class of the day that you shared, the girls of your history of the arts lecture passed you. They were looking at you and art with sadness. It was then you realized what they had been doing. Only wallowing in their jealousy because:
Art had chose you. Not them.
His heart was set on you and that made them mad. Some part of you felt like you could see them. Maybe you were loved by someone like they wanted to be, but you were also envious of how these girls would be graduating in Teaching in less than two months likw you wanted to be graduating.
Everybody was jealous of somebody in this world.
"Art?" You asked while going closer to his side. "Hmm?" He had answered when wrapping his arm around your shoulder to pull you in even closer. "I think I'm jealous of you." You confirmed while giggling. "Oh yeah? How come, y/n?" He smiled at your randomness. "You have a massive dick. I want that." You said in the most serious tone you could master in that instance. Art burst out laughing and admitted that he was jealous of you too. "How come, Art?" You copied his sentence. "Imagine being as pretty as the one and only Y/n Y/l/n under sun rays. I'll pray for that to happen one day." You looked up into his eyes and stopped walking for a second. You smiled at him and went up to kiss him on his lips. The kiss was slow and full of love, just how you prefered then to be.
"I love you, baby. Even if you are a spoiled little brat sometimes." He said and tried to cover his head before you shoved his head to the side playfully.

Marvel Masterlist How They React To Masterlist
Tumblr media
As the blonde tosses back another shot, her mind not only swirls with the effects of the alcohol but with an idea as well. It’s a bad idea, and will likely end with her having regrets and being embarrassed. But in her current state those things don’t really bother her like they should. So she decides to go ahead with the bad idea.
With a smirk she pulls out her phone and clumsily opens the messaging app. She clicks on her earlier conversation with you and then goes to add a picture. She scrolls through her camera roll until she finds her hidden album that contains the few naughty pics she's taken.
She spends probably far too long staring at her options before choosing one and attaching it to your messages. She debates on if she wants to send anything flirtatious with it, but in her muddled state she realizes she would probably do a poor job of getting any point across to you. So instead of adding anything she just presses send.
After realizing that yes, she did actually go through with it she sets her phone down and takes another shot, “O Bozhe(oh god)”
You're in your room across the compound, lazily lounging on your bed as you scroll through netflix looking for something to watch when your phone alerts you to a new message. Being as late as it is, you figured that not many of the other heroes would be up and wanting to chat, so the fact that one of them was texting you was a bit exciting because it meant you didn’t have to be bored alone.
You quickly grab your phone to see a text from Yelena and you smile. The two of you had become fast friends when Nat brought her onto the team, and have only gotten closer since. In fact, if you had to admit it you were harboring a not so small crush on the woman. But there was no way in hell you’d ever admit that, especially to her.
At least that's what you thought. But when you open her message to see a picture of not only her smug smirk but her bare breasts as well, you contemplate running off to her right then and there and admitting everything. You however manage to reign in that thought to fully think about the situation first and decide to type out a reply
    Uh, Lena?
It takes her a minute to actually respond, Yes?
It's far too brief of a reply for you though and it also steps around the elephant in the messages entirely, You sent me a nude….
   Yes.
You bite back the urge to ask if that was the only word she knew and instead decide to make this conversation an in person one. You shove your phone into your pocket and head off to find her. The first place you go is of course her room, and you knock on the door. There's a rustling on the other side before you hear footsteps, and that's when you realize something else must be going on here because you've never heard the spies' footsteps.
The door opens with quite a bit of enthusiasm, causing your brows to shoot up and your confusion only doubles when Yelena's face beams at you from the doorway.
“Y/n, hiii” she greets before giggling a bit. The smell of alcohol on her breath is apparent and you try not to laugh but it's a bit hard when she shushes herself. That's when you manage to get a glimpse behind her and into the room however, and the sight nearly empty vodka bottle on her bed and the few empty beer bottles on her bedside table has all the dots connecting for you
“Lena, you drink all that by yourself?”
She turns her entire body to look at where your gesturing and sways a bit, “Yup”
You can’t help but chuckle at the way she pops the p sound, “Well, that explains the picture then”
You had said it under your breath but she had still heard you and turns back around, “Oh yes! You like?”
“Lena I…” you're honestly at a loss for words. Because yes you did like it, but you can’t tell her that while she's so clearly drunk because she might hear your yes and see that as a way to attempt to do other activities. Activities she absolutely can’t consent to in her current state
“You didn’t” her frown brings you back out of your thoughts and you want nothing more than to kiss it off her face
Instead you gently cup her face, “How about, we get you tucked into bed and we talk about that wonderful pic in the morning”

tw: afab reader, fingering, sex in a public place (they don't get caught), pet names, not proofread
note: i asked what i should write the other day and @papersirens said suguru and then this happened so yeah :3
"look at that guy over by the bar."
suguru hums, you can feel the faint rumble of his chest on your back, and turns his gaze towards the direction you're facing. "the one in the red?"
"no, no, three people to the left of him. he's wearing that flashy chain. you see him?"
"what about him?" your boyfriend hooks his chin over your shoulder, his arms wrapped around your stomach pulling you ever so closer.
"he just struck out with this one girl, must've said something real bad because she threw her drink at him. see how his shirt is wet?"
"mhm."
"well, now he's talking to that blonde girl and i'm pretty sure that she's friends with the first one because they came in together."
it's common, at this point, that whenever there's some sort of outing with your friend group, you and suguru find yourselves tucked away in the quietest corner you can find. you'd much rather people watch than quite possibly make a fool out of yourself and suguru didn't mind the change of pace it provides. nursing drinks and pointing out the interesting things people did was plenty entertaining in your opinion.
"and," you continue, grateful that the music isn't as loud over here and you don't have to strain your vocal cords to be heard. "i think he's about to blow it here, too."
almost as if on cue, the girl tosses the remainder of her drink at his face and storms off, leaving the man alone and rejected once again. he grabs some napkins from the bar counter, wiping at his face and grumbling, before he walks off towards the bathroom. you would feel bad for him, but you have a feeling that he deserved it.
"looks like you were right." suguru chuckles, his arms loosening around you and allowing him to run his hands along your sides slowly. you can practically hear the smirk that pulls at his lips.
"you should know by now that i often am."
"then tell me, angel," his voice drops, his head turning so his mouth ghosts along the shell of your ear. "you think people can see us?"
suguru's hands drift lower, one squeezing at the fat of your hip and the other skirting dangerously close to the edge of your dress. a shiver runs down your spine, anticipation coursing through your veins as his fingers grazes against your skin.
"suguru," you whisper, your own hands reaching out to rest on his. you don't stop him, don't pull him away, don't want him to pull away.
"i don't think they can." he answers for you, his hand slips under your hem and your legs spread for him on instinct. humming softly in approval, he presses a tender kiss to your jaw. "only way they'll know is if you make noise. but you can be quiet, right? be good for me?"
his fingers tease you, sliding up and down your slit through your underwear. you're already wet, the dampness soaking through the thin fabric and you'd be a lot more embarrassed if it didn't earn you that throaty groan from suguru.
"you like this, hm?" rubbing at your clit to draw a quiet moan out of you, he nips at your neck, a sharp pinch that makes you arch into his touch. "better be quiet, baby. don't wanna draw attention to us."
"don't," your breath hitches, his fingers sliding underneath the band of your panties, touching you. "don't tease, suguru."
he must take pity on you, on your desperate state, because the next moment, he's properly fingering you and your head falls back against him, mouth open as you gasp at the sensation. if anyone were to look over, one glance at your fucked out expression and they would know, but your corner is secluded enough. suguru wouldn't risk you getting caught — he didn't want anyone else to see you like this. this sight, your face scrunching in pleasure and chest heaving as you try to catch your breath, was his and his alone to savor.
long and dexterous fingers prod at that spongy spot inside you, slick wetness coating them so there's no resistance. it's hard to stay composed when the heel of his palm grinds against your swollen clit. he can tell you're getting close, the little whines and the way you're clenching around him pointing towards your inevitable release.
"cum on my fingers, angel."
and you do. you would do anything he says, follow him everywhere and anywhere, so long as he gives the word.
his cock throbs in his pants, you can feel the hardness of his length against your body, but he doesn't pay any attention to it. his focus is on you.
"so pretty." he whispers, almost to himself as he admires you, your beauty that he could never tire of. he waits a moment, allowing you to regain yourself before pulling his fingers out. your slick and cum web between his digits, making them shine even in the low light.
suguru places them in his mouth, groaning at the taste of you, tongue swirling around to get every bit of your essence. you watch in awe and arousal, your core thrumming with another wave of desire.
"we're going home." suguru smoothes out your dress before pulling you with him. "gonna make you come on my tongue next."

Danceteacher!momo x Trainee!fem!reader
Warnings: bad language, mouth fucking, cunnulingus, smut, mention of sex, choking, friends?withbenefits
Word count: 3.4k
Summary: Momo has always acted weird towards you. Treating you more harshly than the other trainees. But what can possibly happen in an empty building, at night, when you started to show your brat side?
Nda: sorry I suck at summarizing 🫡🫡 (I promise the story is better)
*★*―――*★**★*―――*★**★*―――*★*
"Start again."
The music coming from the speakers was loud. Your body sweaty, clothes almost drenched. A few lights illuminated the room as opposed to the dark corridors that you could only see thanks to the half-opened door. One of them was flashing.
It's okay, your agence never put in much efforts for their groups anyway, always buying the bare minimum.
Your body moved on his own, despite the obvious tiredness visible on your face. Your movements almost reached perfection but still,
There she was with her angry face.
You stopped yourself when the sounds stopped. The dance practice room went silent again. A glance at her let you know that she was the one who paused the music.
"Same mistake, start again."
Your throat almost burned by the desire to say something. It's been hours since it started. You felt like you would never see the end, because there was nothing to change. You came to thought that she had a wicked pleasure to make you stay, knowing you couldn't say anything.
She tapped on her phone's screen. You didn't have time to recover. Your ears are sick of hearing the same sounds again and again. Your eyes dared to close, but you promise your leader you would thew few mistakes you make, so you didn't let that happen. Instead, you restarted the same choreography.
A exasperated sigh left her lips as you almost trip on your own laces. It must have come undone during the training.
"Are you going to dance properly or should I already ask you manager to add hours for you at the end of every training day?"
"But I dance properly!"
Oups, came out on its own.
Your frustration and stress accumulated during the day heard in your replied. You didn't want to sound so disrespectful, but it was just too much. Watching all of your members leave just to stay here and make extra practice until you felt sweat slide down your body, no thanks you, if you could you would have gladly pass the offer.
"Excuse me?"
The next things coming out of your mouth were completely unexpected.
"Seriously, it's been like 4 hours since we started and you're still here saying there's something to fix when there obviously isn't."
At first she just seemed shocked by your sudden switch of behavior. But then, then, she aggressively slammed her phone on the table near her and tapped her right foot on the floor, corner of the lips trembling with angryness.
"Because you thought that i wanted to be here in the first place? Losing my time and sleep for a girl that can't reproduce a simple fucking dance?"
Okay, you had made her more angry that she already was.
"I never asked for extra help."
"See, that's your second problem. You need extra help. You suck at dancing. Everyone see it except you."
Ouch, it hurts. I mean, it would have hurt a lot more if it wasn't for your tiredness and growing angryness clouding your mind with thoughts you would never come across before. And you knew she was lying. She just saw you progress and had too much pride to admit that she was wrong. So now she put all the problem on your shoulders, and just expects you to go with it. That's what you thought, though.
You knew it wasn't true. But your fists clenched on their owns and your eyes watered. You weren't the sensible type but it was 10 p.m and you were just so done with it.
A thought crossed your mind, and your mouth was quicker to speak than you had time to comprehend what you were about to say.
"At least I've never been fired because I was too lazy to practice!"
She was shocked.
She definitely was.
Not by what you said, but by your sudden brattiness. You got some nerves to speak to her like that. She was at least 6 years older than you plus your dance teacher. She literally accepted to help you even though she was forced, but still. How dare you?
Something occurred. You heard an annoyed sound coming from her mouth then she walked towards you. A firm and straight walk. When she arrived at your level she didn't even dared to stop. She just grabbed your wrist, and dragged you with her.
She was walking way too fast. You were struggling to keep up the pace.
The entire building was empty. And since Momo had turned the lights of the room off you were both moving in the dark with, as only lighting, the flash coming from her phone. You soon arrived at a sliding door. You quickly read the inscription marked on it.
Bathroom, ladies only.
She forced you in it and harshly closed the door, creating a loud thump resonating inside.
"What are we doing here?" You dared to ask. She tilted her head to the side as if the respond was obvious.
"Do you think the way you talked to me back earlier was appropriate? Don't you think you need a little something to remind you that I am the idol here, that you're nothing but a trainee?"
She took you by the shoulders and made you enter an empty stall.
You were surely about to protest, if it wasn't for her to push you roughly on the wall. You let out a small whimper of pain and you hand came resting on you back where the impact has been made.
(You see, if anyone ever read that without context, they will surely be confused as to why she was so comfortable with touching you this way, if you were a trainee like the others. But the thing is, you weren't. To her eyes, you weren't just a simple trainee.
Let me explain:
The relationship that you and Momo shared was beyond weird. Everything started in the manager's office. You didn't even remember what you were doing here, nor how it happened. But one second, you were with momo waiting for him to arrive, and the next, your were against the desk, kissing her.
At first, it was simple make outs. In the bathroom or an empty closet, she was usually the one who initiated them. But then, it started to take a more serious turn. You would find yourself in her apartment when Nayeon was away. Or sometimes it was at your dorm (which was very risky but you both didn't care).
The first hook up was supposed to be the last one, in your head. That's what you told yourself at the end of every session. But she always finds a way to make you fall in her trap. I mean, who can resist the gorgeous and hot woman that Momo is?
The excuses that you would tell the girls from you dorm to go out were piling up, and the minutes spending with Momo were gradually transformed into hours. Hours of doing nothing but pure fucking.
But of course, you were coming after her career. That's why in Jyp's buildings, she was ignoring you. Like, completely ignoring you. She didn't even bother to throw a single glance at you. You understand how she remained clinging to her image, even though you were a bit disappointed that you were traited like any other trainee.
The only thing you didn't understand was the way she acted when you make a mistake. With the other girls from your group, she would just show them the correct movement. But with you, she would just look at you, and expect you to get the right move on your own. And when you didn't, it frustrated her. To a point where she would be so irritated she would just complains about you to your manager, as if it was your fault. And right now, it was one of those moment. But instead of calling the number she knows so well from you, she decided to take care of the problem on her own.)
You jaw ached when she grabbed it firmly to make you look at her. "So, what are you gonna do know hm? Are you gonna keep responding ? I can let you go if you politely apologize to me."
You looked at her dead in the eyes. You could apologize. But you're certainly not going to do that. She irritated you too much and you weren't going to let go of your pride.
"Go to hell." Your respond left even though she pressed your cheeks together making difficult for you to talk. Your hands tried to push her arm away, and that only made her grip on you stronger, to the point it started to hurt. Like really hurt.
She huffed as she expected an apoligize. She didn't think for you to put such an attitude towards her. Usually, you would obey her every command, like the good little trainee you were. This, this was none of that. And she didn't like it.
Your eyes landed on her other hand, which was going way too close to your face to your liking. Then, you felt two of her fingers pressing against your lips. You immediately sealed your mouth, without even knowing what she was going to do next. Of course, you could just submit to her, like always. But your pride was way too big for that.
"Open your mouth."
Her command felt harshful. You tried to shock your head as no, but she didn't take that as a respond. She forced past your entrance and the next thing you know, two of her fingers were deep in your mouth, almost reaching your throat.
Now your hands were desesperatly trying to get her grip off of you. You felt her fingers retired completely, just to push back in with full force.
And in continued like this.
Her digits reaching the far back of your throat.
Her breathing on your ear made you close your eyes tightly. "Isn't that a good idea? Fucking your mouth will make you learn how to shut it like how it's supposed to be."
Her deep chuckle when she heard you chocke send a shiver down your spine.
Each time her fingers would push in, spit would dripped down your mouth making a complete mess on your chin and neck.
It felt like hours before her mistrations stopped, which left you caughing with a hand rubbing your aching throat.
Momo smiled at your state. Her fingers were covered in your drool, almost reaching her wrist. She took you aback when she pushed your shoulders on the wall, her fingers replaced with her lips.
Your whines of rejection could be heard in the room which weren't really of rejection but you couldn't let her know she turned you on. Your nails digged them self on her shoulders to try and hurt her. But she didn't care really. A little girl like you isn't going to do much against her anyway.
She kissed you deeply, swallowing your whines and parting your lips. Just like before, you felt something slipping in your mouth. A wet, warm thing.
The feeling of her tongue against your own made you release a small whimper. The kiss left you breathless and panting, like every time you were alone with her.
"Enjoying it?" She teased you, but it wasn't funny for you. Your mouth opened to say something but she beat you to it.
"I didn't think you would be such a brat today. What happened to my good girl? That attitude you pulled me earlier has put you in so many troubles..."
She didn't let you respond. She never. Her hand wrapped around you neck and you felt a pressure on your throat, choking you a bit.
"How should I punish you? I've got so many ideas in mind..."
Okay, now your body was... betraying you.
A sudden wave of heat arose in your body at the thought of her touches. You didn't want to let her notice that the way she talked to you made your panties soaked, but at the same time the ache between your legs was starting to be bothering. You refused the thought of taking care of the problem yourself later in your bed. Her doing it for your was a better idea. And you know what, fuck it.
Your hands stopped trying to get her away from you, and instead, grab her waist and brought her closer. Momo looked at you with a confuse look. Your behavior was indeed weird.
"What it is n-"
"Kiss me"
Your request was followed by a small please that even you could barely hear. Her lips slowly turned into a smile, and she was quick to catch your mouth with her own. The previous painful pressure on your neck feels now deliciously pleasuring
The kiss felt even better than the one before now that you fully enjoy it. Her rosy lips that you would stare at so many times were now moving against yours, creating a delicious pressure.
"Didn't you want to punish me or something ?" You dared to ask her as your bratness was showing again.
"Just shut up please."
The wet sounds of lips touching each other echoed in the purple bathroom stall, such as small sighs of pleasure. You two would parted away from time to time, getting the minimum of oxygen in your lungs before diving into the other's warmth again.
Before everything started, a kiss from her would've been enough to make you melt in place. But now you had all freedom to do whatever you wanted, and your fingers tingled with the desire of more. Your hand slipped on the skin of her neck to her nape, before being stopped by a firm grip on your wrist.
Momo pushed her lips away from yours. A string of saliva connected your mouths for barely a second. She was glad to see her lipstick embellished the lower part of your face, the color suited you better, especially with those swollen lips of yours.
She observered you.
How your would bite your bottom lip, cheeks blushed by the lack of air. How your carbage would move up and down, breathlessly. The way you were shamlessly eye-fucking her, thigh clenching together. God, what a sigh.
The succeed in making you go from a brat to a mess had increased her ego. Her hand wandered around your face, thumb caressing your bottom lip and slightly playing with it. Her lips touched your cheeks, and traveled lower. The hand she wasn't holding immediately attached to her hair and pulled her locks as soon as you felt her warm breath on your neck. Of course everybody would be able to see all the marks she leaves on you, but she didn't care really. It's not like she's the one who is risking a futur career.
You sighed blissfully as she bit your neck, making your nails dig into her skull. Her hands were quick to undo your sweat pants, sliding it down and making you shiver from the cold air due to the lack of heating in the building. She tugged your T-shirt up and stuck it in your bra, not even bothering to remove it.
"Oh, look at this." Momo rapidly noticed the wet spot on your panties that you were desperately trying to hide, even though you couldn't.
She hummed in satisfaction and brushed her fingers softly against the frabric, before pulling it harshly towards her. The sudden movement made you yelp as you hands pushed her shoulders, but she was way stronger, and the grip she had on your thighs stopped you from whatever you were trying to do.
"Let's do this. I'm gonna eat you out. If you cum before I say you can it'll be the last time for 2 weeks, okay?" She asked, which basically wasn't even a question but more of an order.
Her being so bold had definitely done something to you. You nodded your head, wanting her to hurry up and ease the feeling you had that started to overwhelm you. She dropped a small peck on your lips, making your dizzy, and proceeded to kneel down. One swift movement and your panties were gone, letting her a full view of your dripping arousal. She placed your legs on her shoulders and her hands on your waist for support. That position could be quiet uncomfortable but not for Momo, thanks to the hours spending at the gym she found you rather light.
You whined as the only friction she gave you was marking you thighs.
"Momo don't do t-" Momo glaring at you was enough to shut you up and take whatever she wanted to give you. You're not in a position to protest anything, and she was already furious at you for thinking you could talk back.
She continued kissing your flesh for a minute, before her breath change place and she blew hot air on your wet crotch. You tried to squirm but couldn't move much because of the hard grip she had on your waist. Another whine almost came out of your throat, until you felt the tip of her tongue against your folds and instead you whimpered her name. Your hand gripped the toilet paper dispenser. The edges of it were rounded so you couldn't really hold on to it but it was still better than nothing.
Momo took your clit between her lips and slowly suck it. Your eyes closed instantly as you felt the pleasure starting to consume you. Her touch were so gentle it was almost torturing. Your body enveloped in a warmth that increased your desire for more. As if they had come to life, your thighs started to buck against Momo's mouth. It was miserable how you were practically rutting on her face.
Momo release your clit from her lips and let her tongue travel lower, until it was right in front of your entrance. Your hand grabbed her hair as soon as you felt her tongue slip inside of you. "S-shit Momo... Momo!" You chanted, too focused on the way she was moving, tasting you, to care about your volume.
Her hands withdrew from your waist to grab your thigh instead, guiding you on her tongue. Your hand runs through her dark hair. You attempted to push her even closer, even deeper inside you.
The flick of her tongue against that one particular spot made your hand involuntarily grasp her hair fiercely. She released a deep groan in your core at the death grip you had on her, creating vibrations that ascended up your mouth and turned into a loud sob.
Your walls clenched firmly around her tongue, your clit throbbing continually as the tip of her nose pressed against it.
You opened your eyes all of a sudden as you felt that your climax was near. Your stomach tighten, you knuckles turned white at the hold you had on the dispenser. When you looked down, you saw a version of Momo only you could (probably) ever see.
Her eyes were tight shut. Her mouth and chin covered with your arousal. Her rosy cheeks could suggest that she was the one having an orgasm. You bet she was enjoying it as much as you do.
She reopened her eyes, meeting your pleading gaze. "Please..." was the only thing understandable you could let out between broken cries and incoherent words. You were at the verge of crying. Your orgasm was just so closed.
Momo didn't seem to be affected by your desperate state. Because as soon as she felt your legs started trembling she pushed her head away, leaving you all confused and bothered. She wiped the mess you made on her face with her sleeve and stood up.
You have returned to an almost normal state when she turned the lock of the bathroom stall's door open.
"W-wait Momo y-you said-"
"I said I would allow you to cum if I felt like it. Which I don't really. So... Guess it's for next time?"
She stepped out of the stall and took a last look at your condition. You were on the floor, eyes watered, cheeks wet and red. She gave you a brief smirk before adding one last thing. "If you're not in the dance room in 10 minutes, I'll let your manager know about your very, very, bad behavior."
She was now completely gone. You were crying, sobbing and sniffing in your arms. She left you all alone, leaving you just enough time to put your clothes back on. This was so unfair. You did everything she told you to. She was ruthless! She took time to build up your pleasure just to leave at the end, making the denied orgasm even more painful.
You were too tired to keep crying, and also a bit afraid of Momo's threat. So you just stood up, cleaned yourself and get yourself dress again. Half an hour left before you could head back to your dorm. And it promised to be long...

You felt like you were running on autopilot. Granted, you had a wedding planner and a lovely assistant helping you through one of what’s about to be the most important moments in your life—but you still felt stressed. You tried to blame it on that you were getting married soon and everything wasn’t going as planned. Surely, that was a lie. Everything was perfect down to the gift bags you were going to give to guests. So what was the problem? What was wrong with you?
You were about to marry the love of your life in two days. That’s what you wanted, right? You dreamt of this day since you said yes to the big question. You imagined your life with him. Kids, if that’s what you guys wanted. Or maybe a pet. Travel to different countries was a must. It’s what you deserved. You deserved to be loved by the person who gave you the world.
But, a lot of people online didn’t agree. That’s what was wrong. You broke your own social media break and got your feelings hurt. Correction, it felt more than your feelings getting hurt. This felt more painful. Going online seeing masses after masses of comments claiming how you don’t deserve your fiance felt gut wrenching. You’ve received hate before, the usual comments influencers get.
Go get a real job.
You don’t even have a real job.
The usual that you can just delete and go on about your day.
But these comments weren’t like that and they just kept coming. You didn’t think it was this bad and usually your assistant would clean up your social media for you. But you just been so busy with the wedding and things just got out of control. Your hands shake with each scroll holding back tears of hurt and anger. How can someone say such things about a person they didn’t even know?
Does she really deserve to be with someone like him?
She can’t possibly think he’ll want to marry her.
He was supposed to marry someone like him.
You sat on your walk-in closet floor flipping through the wedding planning book she practically held onto since he popped the big question over a year ago. Even though you can feel your fairytale ending in the palm of your hand, it felt like it was slipping through your hands like golden sand. Your own insecurities and doubt was clinging you down and the only thing you can do is attempt to calm yourself down by reminding yourself that Ushijima Wakatoshi wouldn’t have gotten on one knee to ask this question. He wouldn’t have watched you compile your dream wedding in this flimsy journal book for nothing. He wouldn’t do that to you, right?
Maybe you were just overthinking. You’ve received hate messages regarding dating Ushijima but it never got this bad. It was a quick block and then you went on with your life. You locked your phone as soon as you heard footsteps and the calls of your name. Bringing the corners of your sweatshirt up to your eyes to wipe away any form of your crying because you didn’t want Ushijima to see you like this. He never knew about the messages you received because you thought he wouldn’t have understood.
“Babe?” His voice calls out in the apartment, he was close—usually knew if he didn’t see you lounging in the living room on your fourth Bob’s Burgers rewatch, you were either in the closet hiding away another pair of shoes you’ve brought or in the study working on something.
“Babe..” His head peaks into the closet seeing you. He parted to brag about how well his final fitting for his suit went, but when he saw how puffy your eyes were—worry decorated his face swiftly.
“What’s wrong?” He asked as he stepped in at the sound of your sniffling.
“It’s nothing, I just was going through the planning book and got emotional. Can you believe that we’re getting married. I’m so excited…and emotional.” You let out a weary sigh and glance down at the book in front of you to avoid his eye contact.
He was good at knowing when you were lying. He once figured out that you planned a surprise birthday party for him in less than three minutes. That’s how well he knew you. So why couldn’t you tell him this simple thing? Why couldn’t you let the love of your life know that many people in the world just didn’t like the thought of you two together?
“You’re lying to me. Come on, let’s get out of here so we can talk.” He extends his hand that you abruptly took because he wasn’t going to take no for an answer. If you don't come, he’ll throw you over his broad shoulders and carry you out.
“I’ll make you some of that tea you like.” Ushijima suggests. He stops mid walk to the kitchen to turn to you, large hands cupping at your warm cheeks. “You can tell me what’s wrong when you’re ready, but we’re not going to bed until you speak to me. I refuse to let my soon to be wife go to bed upset.” He pecks you on your forehead before strolling into the kitchen to make tea.
You took a seat in one of the stools basking in the silence alongside the noise Ushijima was making while making tea. You were searching in a sea of words on how to explain the situation. As you sat playing with your own thoughts, you could hear Ushijima go on about the final fitting for the wedding. That included all of his groomsmen and his best man. From the way his face lit when he talked about the wedding, it brought a form of warmth upon you. Like a freshly dried blanket was pulled on your body after being in the cold all day. You enjoyed this look on him.
Relaxed…Calm…Happy…In Love.
The cup of tea was sitting in front of you and you knew that you didn’t even have to add extra things into it because he always made you the perfect cup of tea to your liking.
“Waka, I’ve been getting some hate comments lately. Well, a lot of them.” You let out a sigh. “I know I can always block them and just go on about my life, but these ones were much different than the others.” You sipped from your mug before watching him take the seat next to you.
His body turns towards you so that he can have your full attention. You didn’t expect him to talk, but he was a good listener.
“They’re saying I don’t deserve you.” You started. “Or things like how can you be with someone like that? Or you should be like someone like you.” Your bottom lip quivered and you were trying not to cry. “They see that I’m black and deem me unworthy of their prince charming, their favorite volleyball player…I just don’t understand.”
The warmth of Ushijima’s hands calmed you immediately. The second his hands were on yours, you felt your heart that felt like it was aggressively attempting to claw out your chest calm down. But it didn’t stop tears from dribbling down your cheeks.
“Baby, why didn’t you tell me? How long has this been going on?” The pad of his thumbs wipes away your tears before he’s pulling you off the stool and in between his thighs to embrace you.
Ushijima wasn’t very much a social media type of person. He hardly even liked during press days for the volleyball team when he had to. He knew he had some quite aggressive fans, especially fans of the opposite gender. If he would have known about the hate she was receiving, he would have put an end to it immediately. His face was hot in embarrassment from his own fans' behavior, but also anger because his wife to be was upset—hurt and practically on the verge of a panic attack.
“I just didn’t want to put you in an awkward position. They’re your fans. They practically help you get endorsement deals and shit.” You mumbled in his neck before pulling back to look at him, you expected the look he was giving you.
He was on the brink of saying fuck them. That they didn’t sign his checks nor gave him his volleyball abilities. You can sense his harsh words staining his tongue and even you were too afraid to pitch in that maybe it wasn’t worth it to bring it up. For all you know, your assistant were already adding people’s name to block chains. The messages were most likely getting deleted right now as you were having this conversation with him.
“Fuck, Y/N. I don’t care. You’re about to be my wife in less than forty eight hours. If they can’t accept you for you and for me, then they’re not a fan of mine.” Ushijima said. “Give me your phone. It’s time for you to get some rest.”
“Waka…”
“You have an early and busy schedule tomorrow.” He let you go and picked up your mug of tea to lead you to the bedroom.
“I don’t want to blow the situation out of proportion. It won’t be good press for the wedding and-”
“I don’t care, Y/N. This is a situation to be blown out of proportion..” He walks into the bedroom and you watch as he’s pulling the blanket off the bed and motioning for you to get in. “Get some rest.”
“Please don’t get on social media causing any drama. ” You mumbled as you practically got tucked into bed like a little kid.
“You know I’m not that knowledgeable about those things.” He assures you before he pecks your lips, your cheeks, and lastly your forehead. “Sleep well, okay.”
You went to argue against his words, but instead decided to get some rest. Especially when it flashed through your mind that you had an early appointment with the wedding planner to finalize everything. Pulling the cream colored duvet further on your body, you fell into a brief slumber until you can hear Ushijima’s voice from the master bedroom’s bathroom.
“How’d the hell I put this phone on this tripod? She makes it look so easy when she’s taking her photos.”
You rubbed the sleep out your eyes and you didn’t want to get out of bed, not wanting to disturb whatever tasks he was doing. Deciding to stay in bed just to listen to his late night rambles because the sound of his brass voice calmed you. You turned your back away from the bathroom, pulling the blanket further on your body. Wanting to stay up so you can cuddle, but the long hours of planning, wedding dress try-ons, and then the online harassment. finally caught up to you. You fell right back to sleep without hearing Ushijima’s words.
“Okay, I figured this out. I think I’m live. Tendou why are you the first person in my live, that’s so creepy. Okay, more people are joining. Now that I have an audience, I want to address something before I get married. The love of my life, the woman I’m about to marry, has been receiving hate. Not just typical hate about her career, but hate about her race from a group of individuals who are supposed to be my fans and supporters. Many of you know I can be a private person, hardly even post on this account. Many of you, get a glimpse of my life because of my fiance. I’m as important in her life as she is in mine that she’s comfortable enough to have me a part of her career journey. It’s extremely disappointing, disrespectful, and frankly ignorant as fuck reading about the things that you guys have said about her and our relationship. We’re getting married in two days and I don’t need any more ignorant people's opinions on my relationship. Go get a life, a hobby, hell—I would even say adopt a pet, but I wouldn’t even want a pet in some of your spaces if you’re spewing nonsense publicly like that. Moving forward, I will be standing alongside Y/N no matter what, and anymore hate messages will get you blocked and reported. Goodnight everyone and Tendou.”

Thrill
Baek Harin x Reader Fic.
Sypnosis: You chose thrill over comfortness. You knew she would only bring trouble, but it's her who you really like.
Warning: SMUT, slapping, fingering, mature scenes in general.
CHAPTER ONE // SUJI’S ENDING // LAST CHAPTER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Get a move on!” You heard your homeroom teacher. Gulping as you see Wooyi walking towards the other left-out students.
You were going to join Wooyi, but they are already completed with five students already. With no choice between Harin and Suji’s group.
Looking at Harin, you saw her rolling her eyes, getting impatient. You clearly know that she wants you in her group; you wondered how that would go.
Fortunately for you, your other classmate beat you to Suji’s group. With no more choice, you walked towards Harin’s group. If looks would kill, you’re probably dead now because of Eun Byol’s stare. Whatever, you just have to keep up with this shit.
Suji seemed tense; you felt so guilty. She’s a nice girl, she probably made you feel like you’re worth the risk. But it seems for you, you love the thrill from Harin over Suji’s comfort of love.
“Alright, I’ll lead you to your designated rooms.” You heard your teacher say as he started to walk towards the hotel, and your classmates followed behind him.
Tumblr media
Fuck.
Was the first word that came to your mind once your teacher told you that you would be rooming with Harin. Harin only.
How come you didn’t foresee this! You knew Harin would never share a room with your classmates. You only shook your head.
“Do you have a problem with us in one room?” Harin said, teasingly. “I mean you can always sleep on the floor, it looks comfy enough.” She added while smirking at you.
“No, I just thought that you would have a room for yourself only.” You replied timidly, trying not to show your dying insides because of the excitement you felt having Harin by yourself.
“Well, I’ve wanted you for so long.” Harin said as she started walking towards you, caging you in the room. You really felt at that time that the room was sooo tiny. “Now, I get you to myself.” You can possibly read her thoughts behind her eyes, she wanted you, so bad.
You really don’t know how to react. When you were in a relationship with Harin, she never really showed any affection or sexual interest to you. You never really kissed, how come she has sexual interest with you now? Or you’re just assuming things.
With that, you opened the unlocked door and ran outside. That’s one way to cockblock the love of your life. You regretted that quickly, especially when you saw Eun Byol blocking your way.
“Having fun fucking my plans?” She asked as she shoved your shoulder.
“What the fuck? What did I do now?” You were so stressed about Harin and now this bitch is causing you more stress.
“Don’t mess up my way with Harin! I wanted to be in a top university so that I could date her and now you easily get your way with Harin? What does she even see in you? You’re not even that big time unlike Doah, her father is a–”
“Oh my God. I don’t have time for this; I’m not your therapist that you could yap to.” You said walking the other way. This girl is so messed up. It’s not your fault that Harin likes you or Harin’s probably just playing with you.
“Hey, wait!” You heard Eun Byol but you just flipped her off as you walked inside in the elevator. Thankfully, the elevator’s door closed off and she didn’t get to enter.
You were going to the cafeteria to buy a hot chocolate or coffee, but you saw Suji’s group. They were gathered around her.
Suji is visibly sulking, it must be because of you. Hm. Your thoughts were confirmed when Yerim looked at your way; she looked at you as if you broke the law.
Damn, you can’t even stay in one place because you’re avoiding a lot of people at the same time.
With no choice left behind, you decided to just walk outside of the hotel, since it has a nice view anyway that would keep you from getting bored.
Your thoughts were so scattered from Harin whether she is playing with mind right now, disappointing and leading on Suji, Eun Byol making you an enemy of hers. Ugh, you joined this field trip to have a good time and now you’re on your own!
The sun is setting, it’s getting cold. You’re so dumb for wearing a skirt and a t-shirt that is also very thin. So much for having a good outfit.
You decided to sit near the lake. Sitting on a big rock, you felt as if you were being stalked. Okay, this is either Harin, Suji, or that bitch, Eun Byol, plotting your death.
Testing your luck, you decided to call out the pair of eyes you’re feeling from.
“Okay,” you paused for a second, thinking whose name you’ll call out. “Harin.”
You sighed, “Come out, I know you’re somewhere behind the rocks.” you said trying to sound annoyed.
“How’d you know it’s me?” Harin asked, feeling her presence behind you.
“I know you’re a stalker, duh.” Your sass came out of nowhere.
“Harsh.” Harin said as she sat down besides you. The wind blew past the both of you, inhaling her scent. You felt the butterflies grow wild inside your stomach. You never really moved on from her, huh?
“Penny for your thoughts?” Harin asked you.
“Sure, a thousand won per word.” You tried to joke.
“I’m serious.” Harin deadpanned.
“Okay then, are you serious with me?” You tried to fireback, but when you looked at her, she was staring at you.
“Yes.” She said with that face again that you hated. Her emotionless face, you can’t read whether she's just playing some sick joke again with you.
You sighed loudly enough for her to hear, “I really like you, Harin, and to be honest I like Suji too. I’m scared of picking you and then when you get bored of me, you’ll just leave me as if I’m just an old doll.”
“I, I’m…” You can feel that Harin is getting uncomfortable from her loss of words, “I don’t know, Y/N. I don’t know how to express my feelings.” Harin confessed.
“It’s okay. I really like you, Harin. Even if you treated me like shit before.” You said, staring afar the sea.
There was a long silence, an uncomfortable one. The silence finally cut off when Harin talked, “I’m sorry.”
“Mhm.” You tried to acknowledge her apology.
“Can I make it up to you?” Harin asked. You looked at her eyes. It looks like she is really sincere.
“I only want you to explain to me what you really feel, Harin.” You knew she struggles with showing her feelings so you expected her to walk away after saying those words to her.
“I like you too, Y/N. I swear.” Harin replied. She answered you? That was shocking.
“It was at first that I…” She paused, hesitating again. You figured you let her talk out her feelings and you stayed silent.
“At first, I wanted you to be mine because everyone in the school is fond of you. I know, I treated you like a trophy and when I was satisfied with everyone knowing I have this power even on you, I left you afterwards.” Harin stands up, walking towards the sea and picking up some pebbles to throw on the sea.
“I’m really sorry, Y/N. I mean it.”
“How come you like me now?” You asked her.
“Suji.” was the only word she replied to you. You were confused, what’s with Suji?
“I saw Suji and you…” she cleared her throat before continuing, “kissing.”
Oh?
“Was she your first kiss?” Harin asked, getting aggressive on the pebbles she was throwing.
You stayed silent, not knowing what to do. Suji is your first kiss. There’s no denying that.
“Silence means yes?” Harin asked.
Getting uncomfortable in the position you were currently in, you bid goodbye to her.
You thought you finally escaped that awkward situation. Well, it’s a wrong assumption because as you were walking away, Harin yanked your hands and trapped you in between her and the big ass stone behind you.
“H-harin, I need to go.” You said, your face getting flushed from the position you were in.
You struggled as you were trying to break free against her hold. Her restraint against your hand, which was in the same level as your head, is getting tight.
“Tell me, Y/N, did you fuck her?” You can feel Harin’s voice getting ragged as she was whispering those words to your ear.
You were definitely getting horny from this.
Harin is so possessive. You didn’t even know how it ended up like this.
Harin kisses you as if there is no tomorrow. You can feel her one hand snaking underneath your skirt, playing with your panty.
“H-harin!” You accidentally moaned out loud when you felt her fingers play your clit with your panties on.
“Shush, baby, you don't want Suji to see us like this, right?” Harin teases you.
“H-harin,” you said, getting breathless and trying to stop her from fingering you out in public, “I don’t want my first to be like this.”
That sparked something in Harin’s head. You’re a virgin? Harin thought to herself. Oh boy, she definitely is happy learning this new information from you.
With that, Harin pulled you and practically ran towards the hotel room she reserved for the both of you. You forgot that there was some activity your class had to do that night, so everyone saw the both of you running as if someone was chasing behind.
Harin is excited. When you entered the room, she wasted no time and undressed you immediately.
You were left in your panty and bra. Thankfully, you always wear a set of underwear. Well, who cares? Harin is crazy about you, and now that she sees you in your undies, that feels heaven to her.
She basically threw you on the king-sized bed, and she started to remove her top. Leaving her in a bra and still wearing her jeans. God, she looks so good with her toned stomach.
She hovered over you; kissing you, hungrily.
You felt her hand behind your back, and she easily detached your bra. How is she good with this? Was she with someone before? Your thoughts got cut off when Harin started to suck on your left boob.
“A-ah!” You can’t contain your moans anymore because she’s sucking off your tit and massaging your other tit with her soft, delicate hands.
“Be loud for me, baby.” Harin said in a seductive tone. Kissing your body gently while lowering her head towards your heated core.
She slowly and gently removed your panty. You are getting impatient with what she’s doing with you. You never felt this incredibly horny before.
“God! Just do it already!” You said so suddenly that you earned a laugh from Harin.
“You have to earn it, baby.” Harin said as she slapped the side of your thigh.
You know that Harin is such a bitch, but you didn’t know that even in bed she is even more bitcher. You wanted it so bad that you obeyed her and rolled over to your stomach.
“Pick a number, baby.” Harin giggled. She’s enjoying this, such a sadist bitch.
“One.” You answered, trying to get this over with.
“What about five?” Harin said, caressing your tender butt.
“Oh my God! Just do it. Let’s get this over with.” Your patience is very thin, and it doesn’t help that you were so horny that you just wanted to finish this sadist part and get her started to finger you.
“That’s ten, for being a brat.” Harin said.
You were going to say another sly remark, but Harin beat you to it when she smacked the hell out of your butt. Gosh, that hurts, but it somehow felt good?
“Count.” Harin demanded as she slapped again.
“Two!” You squeaked, “Three!” You continued as she continued being reckless to you.
“...ten.” You said in a whispered manner. You were so tired over that, but it also felt good, to be honest.
“Sleepy, baby?” Harin asked you because of your tired expression that is written all over on your face, “We can continue it tomorrow.” Harin teased you as she massages your butt with her handprints all over it.
“No, please finger me, Harin-ah.” You tried to plead.
“Tell me what you want me to do with you.” Harin said, getting in position in between your legs.
“Just do whatever you want with me, Harin.” You said, slowly.
“I want to sleep now. Can we do that?” Harin said," Oh, she thought she was smart with that reply. If you weren’t so worn out from the slaps, you would have taken control over the shit she’s trying to do.
“No, I want you to eat me out, finger me, use me however you want, Harin.” You said in a low voice.
“Use you?” That’s a word she can do every day to you.
“Please.” With that, she dived onto your core right away. She was very aggressive. You tried to help her by guiding her head where you wanted her to eat you out.
You were practically pulling her hair so hard because of the pleasure you were feeling right now. This is definitely better than you masturbating.
“F-fuuuck!” You dragged out your words.
You thought it was getting better and better until she inserted two fingers into your hole. You’ve never inserted your finger before in you and now she’s rushing. Gosh, that hurt so bad.
You were a whimpering mess when she bit your clit too. Why is she so rough with you! You thought to yourself.
As time passes, the pain that you are feeling finally turns into pleasure.
“O-oh! Right there! There!” This is the most pleasurable you ever felt in your life. Where the fuck did she learned this?
“F-feels soo good!”
Harin suddenly stopped licking your clit and went up face to face with you, still fingering you using the same motion that kept hitting your g-spot.
You kept your eyes shut because of the so much pleasure you were feeling, but you can feel Harin’s stare under the moonlight that is the only source of your room’s light.
“Did Suji make you feel this good?” Harin taunted you. She knows the power she holds over you, and she’s not scared to push it.
You didn’t seem to understand her question, too fucked to understand.
You yelped when she removed her moving fingers inside. You opened your eyes, seeing her slurping your wetness that was coated around her fingers. That. Is. So. Hot.
“Please, let me finish.” You squeaked, desperate to have your climax.
“Answer me, did she fuck you like this?” Harin smirked at you.
You were so put up with her bullshit.
You pushed her down to the bed and were now on top of her, “No, I already told you that this is my first time!”
You started to grind on her thighs. You weren’t satisfied, though. Still, it’s better than nothing!
Harin is impressed over you taking control. She’s not the type of person who submits easily, obviously.
Harin knew that you’re getting tired because your movements became slow. She decided to help you out by rubbing your core with her fingers.
“Mhhm! Mm-oore, please!” You embarrassingly moaned right after she started rubbing you.
Harin is satisfied with what had happened tonight, so she didn’t tease you anymore and just let you reach your climax.
“Fu–ck! I’m so close, ooh!” She was hitting that spot again where it makes you want to pee. With a few more pumps of her fingers, you reached your climax.
You were so out of breath and so tired. As the pleasure slowly fades away, you can feel the sleepiness and soreness start to come over you.
You were falling asleep, fast.
Clink
You hear a lighter sound, and then you smell a cigarette smoke. Harin must be smoking again.
“No smoke, please.” You said. You were expecting her to ignore or leave you now that she got what she wanted.
No words were spoken out of her, and instead, you heard the bin open. Harin must have thrown something.
You felt her lay beside you. Removing the hair that was on your face.
“I’m sorry.” was all she said as she was fixing your fucked up hair. You didn’t reply, just enjoying the soft quietness and the fact that she didn’t leave you after getting what she wanted.
“Are you asleep?” Harin asked as she was positioning to cuddle you. You laid in silence, not having the energy to talk anymore.
“The truth is, I was jealous of Suji. That day when I saw her kissed you…” Harin said, hoping that you were awake listening to what she’s saying.
You were awake.
“Right there, and then I realized that I like you. It’s not an infatuation. When I saw how happy you were with her, I just needed to have you right away, but I can’t because I’m not good at showing my affection.” Harin continued.
“I think I love you, Y/N.” Harin felt more comfortable speaking her feelings now that she thought you were asleep.
“Mhm, take me out on a date first.” You replied groggily.
Harin was dumbfounded when she realized that you had heard her whole confession.
Oh, to be loved softly by Harin.

Hi! Love your work! It's always so good! And how I feel the Vees' reaction to finding out pet reader is dating. Especially another "lowlife" demon (so most of hell lmao)-
Val: (If they're attractive, he tries to convince them to work under him. If not, he'll shoot them then tries to convince Vox if he can punish you for being a bad girl~)
Velvette: Ew, gross. Even you can fucking do better than that! *Beats you.*
Vox: *Is already hiring bounties and threatens to kill them if they fail. Reprimands and revokes what remaining privileges you had left. You get locked in your room with electrical burns too.*
Hiya, thank you so much!
I’m gonna do crushing instead of dating because let’s be honest here you’d never get as far as them complimenting you without the Vs sniffing your partner out and disposing of them :)
The Vs reaction to pet having a crush
Warnings: abuse, dark content, SA mentions, murder, punishments Valentino, hypocrisy, possessiveness, forced hair cutting, maiming, forcing reader to watch SA
Tumblr media
Vox:
Tumblr media
Vox noticed something was different about you
You had been quite….. cheery lately
You had requested to have more days working with Vox, and when he questioned you on it you had just stated that you knew it was his busy season since the extermination will have destroyed many technological items
Vox was ecstatic, and so so proud you were finally coming around to your role and wanting to learn about the business and help
Every meeting he had he would introduce you as his doll of an assistant, even if the client had seen you a thousand times over and had probably seen vox abuse you at one point
Vox’s enthusiastic bubble was quickly burst when he came back from his coffee break and heard you talking to one of his camera men
He even heard you let out a giggle with a blushing face as the lowly demon made some sort of off joke about your fawn ears and called you his little fawn
His? His little fawn? How dare this lowly little demon boy presume to call voxs possession his
You are vox’s daughter pet and that had to be respected
Vox acted like nothing happened and quietly dismissed you for the afternoon as a ‘treat’
He then called the your little crush into his office and threatened him with all sorts of things until he agreed to stay away from you or be insulting to you until you lost interest
If the demon refused, he’s dead
He’ll be killed torturously before his body is left in display in the basement, where Vox will take you to see what happens when you try and get cozy with other demons
Vox will lock you in the room with the body until his skin begins to rot and the smell makes you pass out as punishment
You’ll also be getting the shock collar treatment for a few months afterwards, just to remind you of your position at the company
After that, he’ll lay you in bed and strokes your head while he tells you that that demon didn’t want you for anything other than your body, just like the men and women from when you were alive
He places a fatherly kiss on your forehead as he tells you that he only does this stuff to teach you your lessons, and to make sure you remember that your owned and can never exist outside of him and the Vs
You’ll be watched carefully after that, to make sure you don’t get anymore ideas about having crushes on demons who weren’t worth the dirt under your shoes
Velvette:
Tumblr media
She thought you must be an idiot or insane to think you could form a connection with a demon outside of her and the Vs
She assumed you wouldn’t be that stupid
But imagine her shock when she sees you blushing bright red as you talk to one of her newer models
She even heard you let out high pitched giggles at the models pathetic jokes
And she practically saw red when she saw the model use her filthy fucking hands to touch you and move a strand of your hair behind your fawn like ears
She lost it at the sight and demanded that everyone but you, her and the model left the room, and they all scurried out like rats to avoid her wrath
She berated you for trying to outsmart her and crushing on a lowlife demon who wasn’t worth anything
She hit you over and over again until she say you in the chair and turned her attention to the model
She made you take hold of some scissors and forced you with threats to cut all of the models hair off, and after fear got the best of you, you did it
You cut off her hair, but that wasn’t good enough for velvette
She took the scissors from your hands and slashed across the girls cheek, leaving what would be a deep scar as she claimed that no one would want to take her on now
She grabbed your crying figure by your shoulders and laughed about how you could ever let yourself be attracted to such an ugly lowly demon, you obviously did not laugh along
You had to wear her collar for the next few months with the lead attached, velvette claimed it would stop you acting like a bitch in heat and costing her more models
Velvette never liked to share anything, even her pets weren’t an exception
So it’s fair to say that whoever your crushing on at any time will be destroyed by velvette, mentally and physically
Valentino:
Tumblr media
Valentino had hired a new camera man for his newest videos, claiming that he needed a fresh eye
So it was one of the rare occasions that Vox allowed you into Valentino’s studio during filming since Valentino had tasked you with showing the new guy around as he was far to busy with his little angel dust
So you had done just that and showed the new guy around, you just didn’t think he’d be this handsome and charming
His words melted you like butter and he practically had you wrapped around his finger
At first it was amusing for Valentino to see his little pet so lovestruck and foolish when he returned from his little play date with angel
But it quickly turned into a jealous annoyance as you gave the demon genuine smiles that Valentino had yet to receive after you working for him and the Vs for many years now
He squeaked in annoyance whenever he’d see you laugh at the camera man’s jokes or you’d smile at him while looking at him with lovestruck awe
So when you went off to do your daily tasks, he approached the camera man and stated that he had a new offer
He offered the camera man a job to film a video with him being the star and Val being his co-star
The camera man was extremely against the idea but after a lot of money was offered and coercion from val, he eventually accepted after much pressure was applied
So the camera was in a gruelling filming session and after it was done, he couldn’t look you in the eyes when you passed him in the hall
You became very confused on why he was avoiding you, and you became even more confused and dread filled when Valentino had called you into his office for an impromptu editing session for his newest video
You were disgusted as you watched your crush be practically assaulted as Valentino forced you to use your ability to edit the sounds
You threw up multiple times, but Valentino still forced you to watch and edit
After you were done, Valentino caressed your face and stated that only he and the other Vs would care for you as everyone else just care about money or fame
He patted you on the shoulder before handing you over to a very pissed of Vox for a punishment for your lovesick actions
Any punishment Vox gave you felt like nothing compared to having to watch the person you had made a connection with get assaulted by your abuser and having to edit the sounds
You stayed away from Valentino’s workers after that, you even avoided angel for a few months after the incident
You feared what a jealous rage might do to them, and to you

One for sorrow, two for joy
Plot: Will and Hannibal are having a difficult but very needed conversation the day before the birth of their surrogate child.
"Hello." Will said as he sat next to Hannibal on the porch of their house. The sun was casting its final rays before completely hiding before the mountains. "Just so you know, we are not the worst parents on earth because we don't have a name for our kid. I've read many stories where parents just knew exactly when they saw their baby for the first time. And that will be our case as well."
Hannibal had been out there sitting on his own for most of the day, which was exactly why Will had decided to join him with two glasses of white wine. Hannibal accepted his in silence. He didn't say anything to Will's encouraging words.
Will looked properly at his face only when he heard a sniff followed by a deep sigh, filled with sorrow.
He freaked out for a split second, seeing the tears run down his cheeks, knowing it was a rare sight.
"Do you know when we will be the worst parents?" Will asked, guiding Hannibal's head to rest on his shoulder. "When we won't like her first boyfriend. Or her second. Or third. Fuck it, none of them will be good enough. Or when we will say "no" when she will want to go to a promiscuous party. But I promise that when we meet her tomorrow, we will just know exactly what to call her."
Hannibal let out another sniff and Will could actually feel his tears on his shirt. "I thought I knew what name would be perfect for her." He said eventually.
"And I told you I'm down with calling her Mischa if that's what you feel." He replied softly as he let his own head rest on Hannibal's.
"After doing some self-reflection, I realized I don't want that for her. She shouldn't carry my regrets." He said, his gaze following a magpie trying to build a nest in the pine tree which was shading their house. "Every time I would look at her, I would think of my sister." Hannibal said as he let out a soft sob. "I want her to be her own person, not to grow up in the shade of someone else who already carries so much weight."
"What else is on your mind?" Will asked empathetically after a few seconds.
"During the last years I knew that if we had a daughter I would definitely name her Mischa. I figured I would do that only to give myself the delusion of having her next to me again." Hannibal said. "Or maybe I need some sort of closure that I won't get. Truth is, I need to let her go. It's been too long."
"You know, you don't have to let her go. She is not here but she is still your sister. And she will always be. You don't need a physical reminder to get your closure. And we will make sure our daughter knows about her."
Hannibal let out another sob as he buried his face in Will's shoulder.
"There are days when I feel haunted by my own regrets." Hannibal whispered. Will knew. He had learnt to read his every expression and gesture in time.
"I also feel haunted oftentimes. But then you say something stupid like "Will, have you missplaced the corkskrew again?" And all my ghosts are gone."
Hannibal laughed bitterly for the first time that evening.
"I'm sorry, your own nerves must be wrecked as well because of tomorrow." Hannibal said as he lifted his head off Will's shoulder and wiped his tears.
"Pretty wrecked. But seeing my husband weeping tears on the porch is a rare sight. Poetic in fact."
"I'm envious of you." Hannibal said, finally taking a sip from his glass. "You're managing your emotions better than I do."
"Am I? I woke up at 5 and took apart the washing machine piece by piece because yesterday it made a subtle but weird sound. By noon it was in one piece again. Then I reorganized my lures. Then I reorganized all your spices."
"Pardon?" Hannibal asked as he suddenly turned his head towards Will.
"I was surprised you haven't noticed me spending an unusual amount of time in the kitchen, sitting on the counter and labeling spices. Some of them I had no idea what they were so I drew a question mark instead."
"I..." Hannibal started but didn't know what to say, amused by Will's coping methods. "You didn't touch my suits, did you?"
"No, I am not a psychopath. I did want to organize your ties based on warm and color tones. But I decided I wanted to be alive by tomorrow."
Will clinked his glass against Hannibal's and this time, he was the one to rest his head on his shoulder.
"And we are supposed to raise a child." Hannibal said as a conclusion. "Sorry I avoided you the whole day. I was completely unaware you took the whole house apart. You must have had a lot on your mind."
"It's not like you were doing better. But this" Will said gesturing to where they were sitting"-is a lot better than labeling your spices."
"I agree."
The sun was completely gone, a purple shade coloring the horizon. The lonely magpie was soon joined by a second one, who was carrying some straws as well, probably helping with the nest.

“I can’t believe you’re giving up so easily.” “She’s not giving up, Elle. She’s going on a date.” Elle pouted as she painted a perfect cat flick at the corner of your eye, “Ghost wants you.” You were tempted to roll your eyes at her but decided you could do that when she wasn’t holding a delicate brush right next to your eyeball, “Ghost only wants me to be a better soldier. I don’t think he’s interested in getting in my knickers.” Elle scoffed, setting the eyeliner brush aside as she picked up the fake lashes, “Believe me. He might be all proper about rules and all, but if he wasn’t your superior, he’d be all over you.” Katy huffed, “Unlike some people, our girl is a good soldier.” Elle wrinkled her nose at Katy, “Hey! I’m a good soldier!” You pulled her attention back, “Elly, lashes first.” She pursed her lips but did as you asked, gently pressing one lash into place, then picking up the other and repeating the process, grumbling as she did so, “Just because I’m a bit of a slag doesn’t mean I’m not a good soldier.” Katy finally picked up one of the dresses she’d set out on her bed, a shimmery two-tone slip, the sequins constantly shifting between shades of blue and green, and tossed it on the bed next to you, “That and the strappy sandals.”
When you were finally dressed up, Kate gave you one last critical once-over, inspecting your outfit before she gave it her nod of approval. “Gorgeous. What time are you meeting him?” You checked your phone, “We said around ten at the main bar.” “Better get a move on then.” You hesitated, looking at yourself in the mirror, feeling as though your outfit was more suited for a pride parade rather than a first date, “What’s wrong with jeans and a nice top?” Katy rolled her eyes, “Because it’s hard to look sexy wriggling out of skinny jeans.” You didn’t question the assumption you’d be shagging on the first date, glancing over at Elle as she emerged from the bathroom, having taken considerably less time to get ready, “How come she gets to wear jeans!” “Elles had endless practice getting out of jeans quickly.” Elle nodded sagely, “I have.” It was impossible to argue with that, so you dropped it, “Right. You ready to go?” Elle glanced at herself in the mirror, admiring her lipgloss, “Let’s go!”
Elle disappeared into the crowd as soon as you reached the main bar, no doubt finding a group of friends somewhere to keep her company as she loitered in the background of your date, ready to save you the moment you asked. You decided to turn your attention to the bartender, ordering a shot to settle your nerves and then a vodka lemonade to push you into a relaxing state of tipsiness. Time was creeping forward as you waited for your date to arrive, and you found yourself idly wondering if Ghost was somewhere in the club, scanning the crowd for that familiar mask.
As such, you had no luck finding Ghost, but you did see your date, weaving through the crowd to the bar, raising his hand in greeting as he spotted you. You decided to take a small break with a glass of water as your date approached, quickly sipping it as he leaned against the bar next to you, turning to greet him, “You must be Max!” He smiled, “That I am! Lieutenant Maxim of the HMS Dauntless.” You grinned, “I heard you were navy.” “Royal Navy.” You snorted, “Right.” He signalled at the bartender for a drink before looking back at you, “Wouldn’t expect a landlubber to know that.” “Landlubber? Are you a pirate?” He grinned at you, “Privateer. Can I buy you a drink?” You hesitated, glancing at your glass of water and thinking about the vodkas already oozing into your bloodstream, but you were barely leaning into tipsy, “Sure. Vodka lemonade.”
For a naval officer, Maxim wasn’t entirely awful company, though he seemed a bit too interested in ships and not as interested in you as you would have liked. You glanced around the crowd as Max went on about the marines, looking for that familiar mask as you did your best not to look too bored by the conversation. It was strange; a date set up by Elle was usually solid; the men might not have always been relationship material, but they were always gorgeous and charming enough to keep your attention.
“Are you listening?”
You’d been caught out. You’d thought you’d seen a familiar back, large and imposing, and you’d entirely blanked out on what Max had been saying. There was no covering up for that, so you gave him a guilty smile, hoping it would soothe his irritation, “Sorry, I just thought I saw- it doesn’t matter.” Max frowned, “What, you thought you saw your ex?” “No, no, he’s not an ex, it’s-“ You could practically feel yourself digging the hole as you spoke, so you shut your mouth, but the damage had already been done. He sighed, “Look. You’re a nice bird and all, but you’re clearly not over whoever’s on your mind right now, and I’m not into being second best on a first date.” He downed the rest of his drink and then turned and left without another word.
You sat there for a good minute, allowing the shame of being caught yearning for another man to wash over you before you brushed it off and went in search of Elle.
Elle was always fairly easy to find; her bleach-blonde hair was quite recognisable, and even without that, she always had trouble modulating the volume of her voice after she’d had a few, so it was as simple as following the Scouse accent. She’d settled herself in a surprisingly small group, but you didn’t bother looking at any of the faces as you sulked over and sat yourself down in her lap. She didn’t need to ask how your date went, and she curled a reassuring arm around your shoulders even as she laughed, “Oh babes, did it not go well?” You grumbled into her sweet-scented hair, “God awful.” She pet your back, “You’re alright. Johnny, shift over, make room.” “Aye, will do.”
You’d already made a fool of yourself in front of one man today, so you sat upright, your eyes finally finding Johnny. That Johnny. Better known as Soap. Your eyes flicked to Elle, and she smiled at you innocently, “Look who I bumped into!” You knew without a doubt that there were no coincidences here. Elle was an absolute fox in her wiliness, and you were beginning to question whether your date had been a deliberate mismatch. Soap gestured to Elle, a slight slurring in his words, “Never knew a bird could put down so much vodka before.” She grinned, “Well, I had to defend the good name of Liverpool against slander. Blame your man.” The name didn’t even need to be said; you already knew who they were talking about before Soap answered, “Aye, well, Ghost’s Mancunian through and through. Bound to happen.” She laughed, “You best go check on him; he looked a bit green around the gills.” Soap did as he was told, walking off in the direction of the toilets, leaving you alone with the treacherous snake herself.
“Elle.” “Yes, darling?” Asking her about her crafty plans never yielded any answers, but there was something else off about her. You were swimming in an alcohol-induced haze, yet she looked suspiciously coherent. “Are you even drunk?” She grinned wickedly, “Stone cold sober. Those dickheads trusted me to get the shots. Idiots. I’ve been drinking water all night.” “How drunk is Ghost right now?” She giggled, “Oh, just you wait. That man is fucking funny when he’s bladdered.” “Fucking Machiavelli.” “You’re welcome.” She looked up as the two men returned, shifting in the seat so there was a space free on either side of you both, already waving her fingers at Soap for him to sit next to her, the man carrying a pint of water, “You found him!” “He got lost.”
Ghost was leaning on Soap’s shoulder as he staggered back over to the booth, wearing the same cargo trousers and jumper as always, his mask pulled up around his mouth. You could see the puzzled look in his eyes as his gaze fell on you. “It’s you!” He slumped down into the seat beside you, his arm sprawled out on the cushion behind you, the other one on the table, boxing you in, “I thought you were on a date with some royal marine tonight.” You glanced at Elle suspiciously, but naturally, she was already in deep conversation with Soap. You couldn’t be bothered to even try and think of a lie, so you groaned, “It was awful.” Ghost smiled, leaning in, “‘Cause you went with a royal marine, love. What you want is SAS.” He shifted away from you, then tugged off his jumper, setting it on the table in front of you, revealing his toned, tattooed arms yet again. “Too hot.” Finally, he seemed to notice your outfit, his eyes flicking over your dress, and he reached out to touch it with his fingers, his gloves no doubt lost somewhere in the club. He flipped one of the sequins between green and blue, a smile on his lips as he played with it, “Cool. Like a sexy mermaid.”
Elle was right. Ghost was absolutely sloshed. You could smell the alcohol on his breath and feel the clumsiness in his movements as he rested his hand on your thigh, seeming to be greatly entertained by how the sequins changed colour when he ran his fingers up and down the material. Funny as it was, you didn’t want the man to end up chundering all over you, so you reached out to grab the pint of water on the table, “You should drink some water.” “You should drink some water.” “Ghost.” He groaned, “It’s too hot to drink water.” “That doesn’t make any sense.” “Your mum doesn’t make any sense.” You could hear Elle trying and failing to stifle her amusement, and you tapped Ghost on the shoulder, “Come on. Let’s get you some air.” “Aye, aye, ma’am.”
Thankfully, Ghost wasn’t belligerent as you took his arm and led him through the crowd, weaving your way through the mass of people and out through the back door into the smoking area. Everyone and their mother seemed to be smoking at that moment, so you pulled him to a far corner, away from the heat lamps that people were huddled around, thankful that you’d chosen a different club that wasn’t so populated with soldiers. Ghost sat down in the corner of the wooden bench, sighing with relief as the cool breeze hit him. He sprawled out to get comfortable, his feet up on the empty seat beside him, resting his back against the brick wall. He sat still for a moment, then looked up at you, “You not gonna sit down, love?” You gestured at the complete lack of space, but Ghost was undeterred, reaching out to grab your wrist and pulling you onto his lap, enveloping you in a tight embrace, his arms wrapped around your waist, “Plenty of space for you, darlin’. Now, c’mon, tell me about your date.”
Initially, you hesitated, but then you remembered. Ghost was trashed. It was very unlikely that he would remember or even comprehend anything you said.
“I mean for starts, he walked out on me. I think that about sums up how it went.” “Prick. Want me to kill him?” From anyone else, it would have been a joke, but there was a decent chance he was asking honestly. “No.” “You sure, sweetheart? I could make it look like an accident.” “No, Ghost. It was my fault he left.” He huffed, resting his chin in the crook of your neck, “Doubt it.” “He caught me completely spacing out on what he was saying.” “He’s a boat man. Probably boring as shit. Not your fault.” “How about the fact that I told him I was thinking about another guy.” He laughed, “You’re joking.” “I wish.” He rubbed his nose up and down your neck, and you could feel the goosebumps rising on the back of your neck, “So, what lad were you thinking about?” You weren’t about to up and confess, so you avoided the question, “Just some lad on base.” “And why aren’t you with that lad?” “Rules.” “Ahh, fraternisation. That old chestnut.” “It’s a bitch.”
Ghost shifted you on his lap so he could look down at you, his eyes slightly narrowed, “So, this lad.” You looked up at him, “What about him?” “Tell me about him.” “Why?” He grinned, stroking your arm with his fingers, “So I know if I have anyone to be jealous of.” “You get jealous?” “I’m only human, love.” “You sure about that?” He smiled, running his fingers along your arm until he caught your hand, which he then placed on his chest, “See?” You could feel his heartbeat thudding steadily under your fingertips, a sure sign of his humanity and also the most intimate gesture he’d expressed so far. “Ghost?” He rested his head against yours, “Mm?” The confession was on the tip of your tongue, but you bit it back, “We should probably get you back. You’re gonna be in for a royal hangover tomorrow.” He groaned, “Comfy.” You shifted away from him, but he pulled you back, wrapping his arms around you tighter, “No. Stay with me.” “We can’t stay out here in the cold.” “But you’re here.” You figured he wouldn’t remember any promises you made, so what did it matter? “I promise I won’t ditch you when we get back to barracks.”
Apparently, that was all the motivation he needed, and he swung his legs off the bench, sweeping you up in his arms and carrying you off, ignoring your protests that you could happily walk yourself back on your own two feet. “At least let me send a text to Elle so she doesn’t think you’ve kidnapped me!” He chuckled, “Maybe I have.” “Ghost.” He spun around with you in his arms, “Don’t you think we’re past that?” “Past what?” “You calling me Ghost.” “What am I supposed to call you?” “Think we’ve moved up to Riley.” “You think?” “Darlin’, I’m half tempted to let you call me Si.” You raised a brow at him, “Si?” “As in Simon.” “Simon Riley?” He purred at you, “I like the way you say my name.” “Really?” “Just don’t say it in front of anyone else. Our little secret, yeah?” “Deal.”
It didn’t take long for him to reach the barracks, though he didn’t seem to be sobering up, still taking the time to do a little spin every now and then. He didn’t stop to put you down, sauntering through the buildings as though he owned the place, holding you with one arm as he opened the doors until he finally opened the one that led into his private quarters. It was a fairly plain room, sparsely furnished, and he kicked the door closed behind the two of you, spinning you in a circle before he sat down on the bed, kicking his shoes off as he yanked back the duvet and then settled down onto the mattress. Your promise was looking a little too solid for your liking, but you were in Ghost’s room, you were in his bed, and you didn’t really give a shit about anything else right now.
The depressing effects of alcohol were beginning to settle in for Ghost now; you could see it in the way his breathing slowed, his eyes closed, though his arms remained around you like a vice. You shifted slightly, and he grumbled at you but released his hold enough for you to sit up, his hand resting on your thigh.
You had a choice now. You could slip out the door and leave Ghost to get a decent night’s rest, or you could spend the night with him. It should have been a tricky choice, but it wasn’t. You bent down to unbuckle your sandals, setting them on the floor beside Ghost’s boots. The sequins on your dress didn’t exactly make for comfortable pyjamas, nor did the matching underwear underneath, but it wasn’t as though you could strip down in Ghost’s room. Or could you? It had been a weird night; what was a little more boundary-breaking? “Ghost.” He didn’t stir, so you reached out to tap on his chest, “Ghost.” For a second, you thought he’d fallen asleep, but then you saw his lips twitch in a smirk, and you laughed, “Seriously?” He gave a curt nod, and you relented, “Fine. Si.” He cracked one eye open and looked at you, “Mm?” “You mind if I steal a T-shirt or something?” He closed his eye again, “Like I don’t already give you my clothes.” He had a point. “Top drawer.”
You stood up, though Ghost seemed reluctant to let you go, and walked over to the set of drawers in his room. In the top drawer, as advised, was an array of matching T-shirts, almost all of them black, with a few green tops and very little civilian clothing. You picked out a plain black top, glancing to make sure that Ghost wasn’t looking, before quickly shimmying out of your dress and pulling the T-shirt over the top. You took off your bra underneath the top, careful not to reveal any more skin than necessary, before rolling it up in your dress and placing it next to your shoes. Then, you returned to the bed, though you hesitated at climbing back in, hesitating at the side.
Ghost had no such problem, reaching out to grab your arm and gently pull you into his bed. If you wanted to, you could have easily slipped out of his loose grip, but you didn’t. You let him pull you into his bed and drape his arm over your waist, a heavy sigh leaving his lips as he rested his head against yours, keeping a careful distance between your bodies as you settled into sleep.

snakes. why did it have to be snakes.
(Season 5 Lego Set Spoilers!! bewareeeee)
Macaque has been freezing up, or bailing out, of their most recent fights against the latest villain threatening the world.
Word Count: 2k
Read on Ao3
Wukong wasn’t really paying much attention, at first.
He was leading the charge, the others walking behind him, Macaque trailing along at the very back of the group, as he seemed to like to do. Whether that was him keeping his distance from Wukong in general, because he didn’t want to be in a leading position, or because of some other innane reason, Wukong didn’t know, and didn’t particularly care. It didn’t matter to him.
Mei was ranting about their newest villain of the week. At the same time, Macaque had started snarkingly chiming in from his position at the back- saying something cocky for sure. …Probably. Wukong had honestly stopped paying attention the second he had heard the tone of voice the other was using, he’d heard it directed at himself often enough to know that nothing that was about to leave the other’s mouth was something of value. Despite Macaque’s interjection, Mei was continuing on, seemingly also ignoring him as she proceeded in her angry rant;
“-and his stupid snake hair too! Who does he think he is, Medusa?? The next time I see him I swear I’m gonna-”
Mei’s next threat was lost on Wukong’s ears, because he suddenly realized that Macaque had stopped talking. Old instincts of ‘If someone suddenly goes quiet, it is because they Have Been Kidnapped’ reactivating in his brain, Wukong took a quick glance backwards, just to ensure that there wasn’t a new problem being plopped onto his plate. And then he quickly did a double take, looking back again.
The others hadn’t noticed (outside from MK, who had raised an eye brow at Wukong’s actions and had also turned around to see what his mentor was looking at), but Macaque had seemingly frozen in place.
He was posed in a sassy way- the usual way he looked when he was speaking the same sort of cocky nonsense that he had been talking about earlier, but his mouth wasn’t moving, instead stuck in a slightly tense smirk. One of his eyes was closed, and the other very adamantly avoided eye contact as soon as Wukong initiated it. His left foot was lifted up midstep. Wukong couldn’t help but think that it must be fairly hard to keep himself balanced like that.
Wukong stopped walking. The others stopped too, looking at him in confusion, before following MK’s lead in glancing back at what the Monkey King was staring at.
“Uh.” Wukong said, “You alright?”
Macaque didn’t answer. MK walked over and poked him.
…And then poked him again.
Macaque unfroze, his step finally following through, his position readjusting to something that was probably supposed to be casual but instead ended up coming off as extremely forced.
“I’m fine,” He said, “Just… heard something.”
“Care to share with the rest of us?” Pigsy crossed his arms over his chest, looking unimpressed. Macaque gave a noncommittal shrug in response.
“Wasn’t that interesting.” He mumbled, “Look, can we just keep moving? We don’t have all day, y'know.”
With a hum, Wukong turned back around and started walking again. After a moment, he heard the others start moving as well. Still though, even as he chose to drop it for now, Wukong couldn’t help but silently note the incident in the back of his mind.
~
MK dodged under another swing intended to knock him straight into next Tuesday, trying his best to tune out the aggravating villainous laughter from his opponent. Seriously, this was getting insanely annoying. How many more times was he gonna have to fight this guy? Five more times? A dozen?
As the mere idea of fighting this guy even more times sunk into him, MK could sense his whole body glitch, his monkey tail briefly thrashing. MK winced, leaping back out of range to give himself a moment to breathe, settling himself down, before using the brief moment of reprieve to hit the side of the comm device on his ear.
“Hey, Macaque? Could really use a shadow portal out of here right now!”
There was no response. Actually, now that MK thought about it, he hadn’t seen Macaque since the moment this battle started.
As he did a backflip to avoid a hit to the face, he scanned the battlefield. Last he remembered, Macaque had been-
Oh you had to be fucking kidding.
In the last place where he had seen the Six Eared Macaque, there stood a shittily drawn cardboard cutout of that very shadow monkey in his place. How long had that been there?
…How hadn’t he noticed it?
Distracted by the sheer absurdity of what he was seeing, MK, unfortunately, forgot to pay attention to the person right in front of him, getting whacked in the chest and propelled into the side of the nearby rocky cliff-face. MK let out a wheezing breath as the wind got knocked out of him-
And suddenly he was falling backwards through solid rock, brief panic overtaking him before the purple tinge in his vision clued him in. Here was the shadow portal he had asked for, even if it was a little bit late.
He landed smack on his back in the inside of the truck, staring up at the ceiling.
After a second, MK rolled over, pushing himself up with a groan.
“Didn’t go well, I take it?”
MK looked up at the sound of Macaque’s voice, finding the shadow monkey sitting there in the passenger seat, his body slightly turned to look back at him. MK frowned at him, making it incredibly clear how displeased he was.
“Why did you bail out?” MK asked, “We could’ve used your help back there.”
“Eh, it seemed like you guys had it handled.” Macaque said, before wincing, one hand going up to his ear, where his comm rested. “Ugh, you guys sure do like to yell into these things…”
Before MK could even voice another protest, Macaque snapped his fingers- and suddenly MK was buried underneath the weight of his friends.
~
“Okay.” Wukong said, staring pointedly at the monkey sitting across from him at the campfire. “I wasn’t going to say anything, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that this is developing into a much more serious problem.”
He hadn’t realized it during that first incident, spaced out enough that he hadn’t truly noticed what had triggered Macaque’s reaction. But after MK’s recount, and after the five other times Macaque had suddenly froze up or bailed out on them, the issue had become rather obvious.
Macaque, for his part, seemed rather unbothered, sitting in the same relaxed position he’d been in before. Well, that is, except for his quick glance towards the rest of the group, who were huddled together in their sleeping bags. Macaque’s ear twitched, checking if they were all asleep, most likely. They were, of course. Wukong had ensured that, before he had begun this conversation.
After a moment, Macaque let out a long sigh.
“What problem?” He said, “I haven’t noticed any problem, other than your poor leadership skills.”
“One, ouch. I’m working on that.” Wukong held up a finger, and then held up another one, “Two. Speaking of working on things, you remember Spider Queen right?”
“Yeah. Kinda hard to forget that whole New Year’s. It was far louder than usual.”
Of course that’s what he remembered about it.
“Well,” Wukong continued, “MK… was scared of spiders. Still is, I think. Anyways, he worked through that, and he managed to fight her off just fine.”
“I don’t see what this has to do with me.” Oh, he absolutely knew exactly what it had to do with him, if the way he was sinking down in his foldable chair was any indication. If this wasn’t such a serious issue, Wukong would probably be smirking devilishly at him.
“I’m talking about your fear of snakes.” Ah, there was the more nervous reaction Wukong had been waiting on, Macaque’s fur bristling as he glanced over at the others again, before proceeding to stubbornly avoid eye contact with Wukong, who rolled his eyes. “It’s seriously starting to become a problem, man. MK was right, I don’t want to admit it, but we maybe could’ve used some of your help in that last battle.”
“You’re Sun Wukong, I’m sure you had things handled.”
“Aw, is that praise for me I hear? That’s rare coming from you.”
“Wh- no!” Macaque hissed, “Just- I could easily beat that guy, so clearly you- you probably handled yourself just fine.”
“Hm.” Wukong leaned forwards, resting his head on his hands. “And if you think you could ‘easily’ beat that dude, then why haven’t you?”
“Because I know you guys had it handled.”
“You can’t just keep using the same excuse over and over again.”
“Yes I can.” Stubborn, as usual, Macaque wasn’t the same guy who easily gave in to Wukong anymore. Wukong let out a breath, willing himself not to snap in frustration. That wouldn’t get either of them anywhere.
…That’s what Sandy had said at least.
“Look.” Wukong said, “I’m not going to bring it up to the others. But-”
“Are you about to blackmail me-”
“-if you keep bailing out on us-”
“-holy shit, you really are blackmailing me.”
“-I will stage an intervention. With everyone this time.” Wukong crossed his arms, “Trust me. They’re very effective.”
Macaque didn’t respond, other than a look of disbelief. Wukong at least expected him to respond with some comment about how Wukong must’ve experienced an intervention himself in order to know that, but instead the other monkey remained silent. After several moments passed, Wukong slowly raised an eyebrow.
“…Macaque?”
“The Monkey King is blackmailing me.”
Wukong let out a tired sigh worthy of his over a millenia of life.
~
“Alright, that’s it.”
MK looked up from where he had been watching Pigsy work on bandaging his arm just in time to see Wukong tackle Macaque to the ground. Macaque let out a screech as he went down, drawing the attention of the rest of the group as well.
“I tried to do this the nice way!” Wukong yelled, as he struggled to keep Macaque still, a feat made slightly difficult by how the other kept trying to turn into shadows. “But nooooo!! You just have to make things difficult! So guess what!”
“No!”
“That’s right, it’s intervention time!” Wukong seemed to finally get a good grip on Macaque, even though the other was clearly still struggling, he wasn’t getting anywhere anytime soon. “So, folks, I’m sure you’ve all been wondering-”
“Wukong, don’t-”
“-why has our little shadowy friend been bailing out of every fight?” Wukong ignored Macaque’s protests, instead turning to his audience. “Does anyone have any guesses?”
Truthfully, no. MK hadn’t even really given it that much thought. Bailing out on a fight purely for his own amusement had seemed like a Macaque move at the time… but the more Macaque struggled trying to get out of Wukong’s grip, and the more MK thought about the few times him and Macaque had actually been on the same side in a fight, the more that started to seem… inaccurate. Huh.
“No guesses? Huh. I thought at least one of you would’ve at least come up with something.” Wukong muttered, before continuing, “Well, the answer just happens to be that-”
“I cannot believe you’ve actually stooped to blackmail-”
“-Macaque here, is afraid of snakes.”
Dead silence. Macaque stopped struggling, instead pressing his face into the floor and remaining completely still. After a few seconds, Wukong got off of him, wrapping his tail around him as Macaque started to sink into the shadows of the floor, and lifted him up. Macaque stubbornly avoided eye contact with everybody.
“So.” Wukong said, gesturing at Macaque with his hands, “Any suggestions?”
Mei raised her hand, before seemingly remembering that she didn’t need to, and instead blurted out one simple statement;
“Blindfold.”
Wukong snapped his finger and pointed at her like she was a genius… for about a second, before he shook his head.
“We tried that way back when, but the noise they make creeps him out, so…” Wukong shrugged in a ‘what can ya do’ kind of way. Macaque used the fact that his legs were somewhat free to kick Wukong in the shin. Wukong himself didn’t even acknowledge it, though his eye twitched in a way that indicated he was ever so slightly annoyed. “Any other suggestions?”
Silence. Again.
…Something suddenly struck in the back of MK’s mind.
“…This might be crazy, but-” MK said, “Is it possible to put glamours on other people?”
~
Wukong watched with true sight as Macaque landed a solid kick into the Nine Headed Demon’s face, before letting out a sigh.
“…Could someone explain to me again why we chose to glamour him to look like me?”
MK skidded into place beside him, taking a brief break from battle.
“Something about wanting to punch your face overpowering his knowledge that underneath it is snakes.” He said. Wukong hummed.
“Remind me later when all of this is over to swap out his shampoo with blonde hair dye.”
“Will do.”

Now we're cookin'.... enjoy this slice of my brain that I spent entirely too long on. And also know that the first part of the Arthur Morgan series will probably drop this week.
Tumblr media
“I ain’t shittin’ you.” You were fine to leave it at that, but he sure as hell wasn’t. For a guy that hated long conversations, he seemed to like poking around in your business.  “And what makes you think that?”  You honestly didn’t want to tell him. He’s not Tommy, he might make fun of you, might store away the information later on and use it against you. You have no idea, actually. You don’t know him.
Your contact had gotten you to an apartment. It was worn down, just as every other place in the QZ seemed to be, but it was better taken care of. The people living here must have been attentive about the appearance of their home. A good enough family to leave your baby with.
She stopped you in the hallway, knocking three times on the old wood door, hearing a lively voice from the otherside before it opened. The woman standing there was lovely, about thirty or so, a half smile on her face when she saw you both had arrived. This plan had been in the works for some time now.
“Hello, I’m Maxine Williams,” she greeted, reaching for your hand to shake. You did your best to match her kind and infectious energy, giving her a smile in return. She is after all going to be doing you the favor of a lifetime.
“It’s nice to meet you,” you replied, keeping your head low between your shoulders, though you felt comfortable in her presence.
She leaned into your contact, turning her head, but you heard the whisper “She’s so young…”
“S’why she needs help.”
You understood that this didn’t look right. You should not be pregnant at your tender age, should not have been put in this position. You’ve seen more horrific things than any person ever should, and it all started when you were eight… outbreak day.
“Of course… come in, both of you.”
The pleasantries went on for a while, exchanging information of where you came from, why you were in this area, what you did before being in Boston. She mentioned her husband, her two sons and their love for older things, wishing for the world the way it was. It was all just small talk, leading up to the actual conversation topic: the baby she was about to take off your hands.
“You’ll stay with us until the birth, if that’s okay,” she offered, but it sounded more like a demand. It wasn’t a harsh or cruel one. Even if you slept on the rickety couch you were lounging upon now, it would be better than camping in the woods, sleeping on the hard ground like you’d been doing only a month ago.
“I’ll do whatever you want me to.”
Your contact was happy to see both ends so receptive. She’d never seen a deal containing human life go down this smoothly. Probably because this was a bit more sensitive of an exchange.
“Good… that’s good. I’ve heard you’re interested in a closed adoption?”
You glanced down at your stomach, feeling the weight of it, crushing inwards on the rest of your body. Having this baby and giving it away will relieve the weight both physically and metaphorically. They’ll be in good hands, better than your own could ever be.
“I think it’s probably best. I used to have siblings, but I never really took care of them… I’m not sure I could do this,” You shook your head. You saw her younger son peeking his head out of the bedroom door in the corner, backing away as soon as you caught him. Even in an apocalypse, a child can be happy… just not with you. “I want to give them their best chance.”
“I understand…  and we’re going to do our best to make sure they have a normal childhood,” she responded, leaning forward and placing a comforting hand on your knee.
“Thank you…”
You had sat down on one of the containment units, feeling as though the adrenaline rush from the ambush was beginning to wear off. Tommy found Maria not far away from where you were sitting, and began to ask his special favor. It was crazy, he knew it, you knew it… but it had to be done. This girl was somehow important, to the fireflies and to all of mankind, and you were starting to wonder why. Joel hadn’t said a word, sitting across from you and awaiting the news that would surely come from his brother’s discussion with his wife.
“So, you’ve been traveling with Ellie?”
He looked up at you from his boot laces, his eyes were heavy, and he didn’t seem in the mood to talk. He was grumpy in nature, but you could tell there was more underneath the tough exterior.
“I have.” And no further explanation was given.
You didn’t think it was best to keep trying your luck, keep on asking him questions. He wasn’t the talking type and you figured you’d be wasting your time… but speak of the devil, Ellie came up to him just as the conversation between Tommy and Maria was getting heated.
“What’s that all about?” She nodded in their direction. She looked scared, like a deer caught in headlights, just not as frozen. Wide eyed and unable to look away from the scene. “Does that have anything to do with me?”
She was smart, she’d pick up on the words they were saying - more like yelling - to each other. The context clues were there, Joel would have to be an idiot to think she’d just let him off the hook.
“We’ll talk about it later…” he grumbled, his annoyance already at a high from your unimportant questions and the fighting in the background.
“Did he tell you where the lab is?” She asked, her eyebrows furrowing as she got even closer to hear them.
The lab? Is that where the fireflies would be? You vaguely remember the days you spent with the resistance group, but you don’t remember anything about a lab…
“We’ll talk about it later,” he repeated himself, almost as a warning.
She turned to Tommy and Maria, then back to Joel, her face one of distrust and sadness. She knew, she could tell. Joel was trying to get rid of her.
You wanted to say something, to jump in and tell her that she didn’t need to be scared, didn’t need to be worried about where she was going. That you would go with her and it would be okay… but that wouldn’t help a damn thing. Even if you turn out to be her biological mother, you are most definitely not her mom, and cannot console her as one.
“Later… right,” she trailed, backing away from Joel and off to another sectional of the checkpoint.
Joel looked back to you, your eyes already on him.
He sighed, at first not saying a word… but when he made a full rotation of his eyeline and you were still staring holes into him, he had to speak up.
“If you’re lookin’ to judge me, then just-.”
“I’m not.”
Your interruption cut him off, and he didn’t really know what else to say. He nodded, not looking away from you, but rather trying to figure out what it is you needed from him. Your stare was not discomforting but it felt demanding. It wanted something.
“How long have you known her?” You finally spit out, tucking a leg under your elbow as you sat back. You knew you’d gotten his attention, now.
“Few months, now. I’m supposed to take her to the fireflies as a favor to someone.”
“What do the fireflies want with a fourteen year old kid?”
He sighed, raising his shoulders in a shrug like he didn’t know. He must’ve been lying, right? You’d gotten pretty good at reading people, but for some reason you couldn’t tell with him. Maybe you just didn’t know him well enough…
“M’not really sure. All I knew in the beginning was that I could get paid pretty well, so I took her.”
You nodded. He didn’t seem like the person that did things for the sake of them, Tommy had told you stories about him, the things he used to do. If it was for his survival, he’d do it… but just for the sake of getting paid? When barely anything left had real monetary value? It sounded like bullshit.
“She seems to trust you an awful lot,” you gestured between him and the empty space she’d left.
There was another beat of silence, to which he didn’t use for reply. Instead he sat, his back curled over and his shoulders sunken inwards. He was tired, he was worn. He needed to rest, but this life wouldn’t let him.
“She knows you’re handing her off…”
“I reckon she does, yeah.”
And right over your shoulder you heard the climax of Tommy and Maria’s argument. She held a pointed finger in his face, before he finally insisted on Joel’s plan. She couldn’t move him. He was going to do this whether she liked it or not… which is something you haven’t seen out of Tommy for years. Joel must mean a hell of a lot to him, to up and leave Maria on a dangerous errand like this.
You stay seated when Maria walks over to Joel, and then when Joel stands up to talk to Tommy. You stay seated and think… I can keep Tommy safe. I’ve got nothing to lose, and everything to gain from learning about this girl. I can bring him home to Maria, even if it means my life.
But you immediately stand when you hear Tommy’s rapid speech. “That girl of yours. she took one of our horses and rode off,” and then he glanced at you with an eyeroll. “She took provoker…”
You huffed a sigh, following the men over to the front of the sectional, the open trail up ahead. Maria was mad at Tommy, so obviously she wouldn’t be accompanying them… and that left you. Casper didn’t like men.
“Damnit, which way?” Joel asked, his steps were heavy on the muddy ground.
“I just saw her riding out of here!” Terry yelled, loosening the reins on two more horses he’d brought over for assistance.
“Alright, get back inside, help the others clean the place up,” Tommy told the man, nodding for you to mount the back of his horse after he’d climbed up himself. You chanced a look at Joel, riding across from you both. His face was mixed with anger and determination, and it reminded you of what Tommy looked like after hours of hunting. They were the epitome of brothers, though you’d never met the other half before.
You all followed the tracks, leading every which way it seemed. Some of the tracks were fresh, and some were older, but it was hard to tell when the grounds here were moist all the time, never really drying up and creating lasting prints on the dirt.
After a while of riding, and running into some raiders - who were easily fended off - you saw your horse standing in front of an old farmhouse, the reins tied to a pole holding up the roof of the porch. You jumped from Tommy’s mare and ran up to Casper, petting his mane and making sure he was alright. There didn’t seem to be a scratch on him.
You watched Joel enter the house, waiting back with Tommy. Even though Joel was the one she ran away from, you couldn’t imagine she’d be thrilled to see you or Tommy instead. Joel had a good reason to do what he did. He didn’t feel strong enough or fast enough for this job anymore. He didn’t feel like he could keep her safe. You unfortunately understood that feeling a little too well, and if you were correct on your suspicions, it would have been with the exact same kid.
Tommy unstrapped his gun from his back, holding it steady and watching the surroundings whilst he leaned against the porch beam you were standing by. He was trying to gage whether or not your horse was calm enough for him to approach you closer, knowing what would happen if he wasn’t.
“I think you’re right, you know…” He trailed, his voice quiet on the off chance of an open window.
“You do?”
You turned to him, you didn’t exactly have to think twice about what he meant.
“Yeah,” he nodded, a chuckle falling from his lips. “It makes sense… the timing n’ everything. She looks a hell of a lot like you… and she’s caused about as much trouble today as the first time I met you.”
“Causing trouble is genetic?” You laughed, your eyes watering a bit at the implications he made. She might be yours. Your daughter, who you didn’t think you’d see again.
“Hell, it might be. Your kinda trouble, anyway… stealin’ horses and shit.”
The nod of your head was slow, the thought of this all sinking in. It made perfect sense and yet coming to terms with the facts of ‘it is’ instead of ‘it could be’ makes you feel light headed.
You didn’t know if he was being serious or if he was just trying to make you feel better, but the look on his face told you the former. He wouldn’t just lie to you, he knew you could read him.
“I keep turning it over in my head, tryin’ to think of ways I could prove it to myself… I think just seein’ her was enough for me. I’m remembering things I thought I forgot about a long time ago.”
Now it was his turn to nod, but your moment was caught short when you heard a branch snap around the corner. You instinctively pulled your gun from your pants, holding it out in the direction the snap came from. Tommy raised his rifle, doing the same and gesturing for you to go inside. You both made it in the doorway before the threat made itself known. Two guys, coming around the corner. They hadn’t realized you were watching them yet, but they did a quick scan, making sure there wasn’t any immediate danger.
“Get upstairs,” he said in a whisper, but you snapped your head to face him.
“No way, the odds are even if I stay,” you argued, but he wasn’t exactly in the mood for a fight right now. It was too risky to have you both down here.
“Go tell Joel to get his ass down here, you stay up with the kid.”
“Like hell I’m going up there. Your brother scares me,” you say in a half joking mumble, keeping watch on the two strangers that were now surrounding your horse. They were about to get kicked in the ass if they didn’t step away.
Tommy realizes that them being distracted gives a good amount of time to leave without cover.
“Alright, but you first,” he shrugged a shoulder towards the staircase, and with one last glance to your horse, you left your corner by the window.
You quickly ran up the stairs, ducking a head in a few rooms before finding the one Joel and Ellie were in.
“Get it together, we’re not alone,” Tommy said as soon as you got inside the door.
“I got two walking in,” Joel leaned towards the sliding window to get some eyes on the situation.
“There’s more inside already…”
You backed against the door, Tommy against the dresser on the opposite side. Joel stepped over in front of you, and Ellie behind Tommy. You didn’t realize until now, but taking a glance at Ellie, she looked even worse than when she left. Her face was sullen and her head was dropped. She didn’t seem to be snapping into reality, even with the weight of the situation.
You stayed by her throughout the house, when Tommy and Joel started shooting, you stood in front of her, covering them from back behind. It was weird, these maternal feelings that had never sparked within you before, only now arising for this specific human that had no clue who you were.
Once outside, it seemed strange. The dynamic between the four of you was so incredibly awkward. Everyone was thinking on a different topic, and the silence could echo on for miles. You nodded for Ellie to mount the back of your horse, since she didn’t seem comfortable to ride with Joel for the time being. She climbed up behind you and for a second you smiled, because this is your daughter, you know it… but soon after, your mind quickly succumbed to the general silence.
The nature and scenery surrounding you seemed to be duller than before, the pretty autumnal colors becoming ugly in the sense that you didn’t appreciate them right now. You loved the beginning of fall, but the feelings spread among you are tense and terrible, worse than raking up the fallen leaves before winter.
The feeling never leaves, it stays until you all reach the edge of the town.
-
“I’m not hungry,” you swore, shoving the extra plate of food away from your placemat.
Manxine’s husband was hungry, and you’d noticed him and his wife being decent enough to give you some of their food the past few days. It wasn’t necessary, because you weren’t working, and you weren’t barely helping them. They were helping you, and you couldn’t be more grateful. Taking extra food that wasn’t just lying around felt like stealing. You’d never been a stranger to it before, but these people were far too kind, too gentle. They made you feel like maybe the world wasn’t completely at its end. It still turned, and people were still good, despite everything.
“Yes you are, and you should be,” Maxine pushed the plate back in front of you. Her goal had been to ‘put a little meat on your bones’ as long as you were under her roof.
“I’m fine, I promise.”
“Promise or no promise, you need to eat more. You’re still too thin to try and survive childbirth, ya hear?” She put the old fork back into your open hand, and you sighed. It was sometimes hard to eat more than you normally did, on the account of your body not being used to it. If you ate more than usual would it make you sick? If you threw up the extra rations they were spotting you, you’d feel terrible, but she kept insisting.
You opened your mouth to take a bite, swallowing it down and feeling the slight discomfort start to settle. Already you’d been eating a lot more than before the QZ, and you didn’t realize how slowly your appetite would have to grow.
After a few more bites you had to drop the fork to your plate, feeling too full already to keep on. You felt terrible, refusing extra portions that were meant to keep you healthy. Whether or not it was caused by the pregnancy hormones, or just your own emotional breakdown, you weren’t sure… but you started tearing up while sitting at the table.
“I’m sorry,” you shook your head, covering your mouth and sitting back while the tears rolled down.
“Don’t you apologize, sweetheart,” Maxine uttered softly, her presence at your side immediately.
To her, none of this effort was wasted, or overdone. She and her husband, though some of the better off people in the QZ by job merritt, couldn’t seem to have another baby. It wasn’t for the lack of trying, or stress that they couldn’t afford it. It was simply the fact that after six years from their last child, they couldn’t conceive another. This baby, your baby, was going to be a gift to them. They were happy to take any necessary steps into getting you to childbirth.
“I just can’t eat anymore,” you tried to justify your emotions, but now it only looked like an overreaction. People are dying without food, and here you are, crying about there being too much.
“It’s alright. Leftovers don’t go to waste in this house,” she spoke, a bit of a chuckle in her tone, which alleviated some of the pressure you felt.
“Okay,” you nodded, letting her take your plate to the other room, likely where her husband had retired to.
The campfire was crackling, the smoke filling the hazy navy color of the dark sky. Trees had covered it mostly, but there were a few stars peaking here and there. You’d just finished a can of chicken soup, tossing it on the pile that had been started by the others. It was crazy, how you suddenly remembered so much, just by eating food out of a can again. Days on the run, with the fireflies, being a raider even… it all came back.
It had only been a few hours or so since leaving Jackson, but after the fiasco of today, the three of you had gotten extremely tired a lot earlier than you should have.
The three of you meaning: Yourself, Joel and Ellie.
After the silence of the horse ride back to the commune, something had changed. Joel realized not only what Ellie meant to him, but what he means to Ellie. He’d decided Tommy was no longer required, and that he could fare the journey on his own. Of course, you immediately volunteered an extra pair of hands and a quick gun as assistance. To your surprise, it was Ellie who was your greatest advocate. Her, and the fact that you remembered the lab’s location, could probably get her there on your own if you had to.
The mirror building… you don’t remember it being a lab, but as soon as Tommy said the words it jogged your memory.
Now you were here, sitting with your back against a log, and staring holes into the shoulder of a fourteen year old girl.
“Whatch’u lookin’ at?” Joel asked, his arms crossed over his chest as he lazily reclined against a tree.
You only looked away for a second, too fixated on what was just barely peeking over the collar of Ellie’s shirt and jacket. It had fallen down a bit when she laid down to sleep.
“Nothin’,” you shrugged it off. He was a man of few words, surely he’d drop it on account of having to speak more if he didn’t… but God help him, he’s like a damn cat, his curiosity could kill him.
“You’re very focused on nothin’,” he teased. There was something off about you with Ellie, he’d taken notice of it. He didn’t know what it was about but it didn’t seem like a danger.
You rolled your eyes over to him, but could tell by his glance back that he wouldn’t quit. He’d already volunteered to take the first watch, and he had nothing else better to do.
“It’s a long story, you’d get bored.”
But again, he had nothing better to do.
“Try me,” he raised his shoulders in a shrug of his own. He seemed much more docile of a creature in this setting. The early hours of night, so quiet, and dimly lit. His voice was gentle and his features were soft. He was relaxed.
You took a deep inhale, trying to brace yourself for whatever came of this. He was a fresh face, someone new to explain an old wound to. The scar had finally healed and you were about to dig a blade back through and rip it open… but you suppose you’d sharpened the knife by coming along in the first place.
“I think Ellie’s my daughter,” you breathed out, not checking for a reaction until he’d been silent too long. His eyes were narrow, and he tilted his head, looking between you two. She was fast asleep by now, but he had a picture of her in his head, comparing it to you.
“You’re shittin’ me, right?”
You blew out another long breath, shaking your head and rolling your eyes. He doesn’t get it. He doesn’t know this feeling you have or the fact that you’ve never felt it before. He doesn’t understand that you’d come to peace with the fact that you’d never see her again, and then she appeared like a ghost from your past. You thought she was your past self at first, taunting you, making fun of who you were now.
“I ain’t shittin’ you.”
You were fine to leave it at that, but he sure as hell wasn’t. For a guy that hated long conversations, he seemed to like poking around in your business.
“And what makes you think that?”
You honestly didn’t want to tell him. He’s not Tommy, he might make fun of you, might store away the information later on and use it against you. You have no idea, actually. You don’t know him.
You let your eyes flick up to the stars, hoping by some miracle they will fall from the heavens in the form of angels to give you a message, that message being: shut the fuck up and don’t spill your guts to a man you met this morning.
“When I was thirteen, I was by myself. I fell into a weird group of people that could probably be considered a cult. There was this one guy that treated me better than the others…” you trailed off, not sure if you’re ready to rehash all of this. But it’s been a long time since you talked about it. You need to get it off your chest if you’re to somehow make a relationship with the product of your past. “He was in his twenties, so a lot younger than most people in the group. Pretty sure I was the youngest. I didn’t realize he was using me.”
Joel was tense, but not because he was uncomfortable… he was genuinely invested. Wanted to know this story and how it connected with Ellie. His Ellie.
“We left the group, and I found out I was pregnant a few months later. I’d barely had my cycle a fucking year… wasn’t even sure what it meant when I didn’t get it. Anyways,” you had to stifle a laugh, because just looking back… what the actual hell? You kept blinking to make sure no tears escaped in front of this man. You weren’t there yet with him. “I think he just lost all interest in me after that. He didn’t really speak to me unless it was necessary, and wouldn't look at me. Stuff like that.”
But that wasn’t the worst part, and Joel knew you were working your way up to it.
“Before I was pregnant I used to sneak into places most people couldn’t. I was real skinny like that. Was able to smuggle stuff in and out of different QZs across the country. We peddled rare narcotics for the most part… but I had to stop when I, you know…” you made a round hand motion around your stomach, hoping he got the jist. “I didn’t fit in the smaller spaces.”
“What kind of narcotics?” Joel finally asked a question, and it wasn’t really the one you were hoping for… but you understood he’d probably fallen into the same scheme over the years.
“Vicodin, mostly. Up in Princeton there was this one apartment… we’d searched it top to bottom because of how many secret hiding places there were. Vicodin everywhere. Whoever lived there was either severely addicted or preparing for the worst.”
“Maybe both.”
Yeah, probably. Damn shame he never got to use them.
“We used it as a trading token most of the time. It was actually what got us into Boston,” you waved off your tangent eventually, getting back to the story and where Ellie came in. “Pretty much gave the rest of our stash to a contact we had there… she got us a family we could hand the baby off to.”
And now he got it. You’d been knocked up by a predator, and said predator wanted you to give up the baby so he could go about using you some more. He’d seen and done some cruel things in a post apocalyptic world, but he would never stoop that low, and grimaced at anyone who possibly could.
“I had her when I was fourteen. Lookin’ at her today was like looking in a mirror,” you rambled on, still not quite to your point. “She’s the right age, from the right location… and that birthmark on her shoulder…”
He hadn’t even noticed it all this time. Months with the kid, and he thought nothing of it. But to you, it was clarification. It was the confirming piece of evidence that pulled it all together. You’d barely taken your eyes off of it since you saw it. You wanted to make sure you weren’t seeing things. Wanted to make sure it was the right shape and placement, just so you could be sure.
He nodded, seemingly coming to this conclusion now, too. It didn’t take him any more convincing. It was clear by now that your hunch was not just a hunch.
“Her dad, he still… around?”
You shook your head with a light hearted laugh.
“No,” and you could have left it with that simple answer… but that was never much your style. “I shot him in the head.”
His low whistle cut the air, and you almost felt proud. You’d killed the one thing in life that ever hurt you directly.
“He deserved worse.”
“Yeah, he did.”
And then it was quiet for a minute, all the words the two of you had spoken up until now were rotating over and around in your heads to make sense of them, until he spoke up again.
“I’m sorry,” he nearly whispered.
“S’okay. Not your fault…” you shook it off. It’s in the past, it’s done.
“Not yours either,” he replied, raising a brow to you. “M’just, sorry you went through that.”
He was soft, he was gentle. You supposed he was like Tommy. He didn’t judge you or make you feel inferior because of your tragic mishappenings. He just listened, and felt sympathy.
“I don’t mind it so much now… I got her back.”
And both your gazes shifted to the sleeping teenager, her breaths steady with the humming of the night around you. She has no clue, and for now you’ll have to keep it that way.
Yeah, you think… I got her back.
-
It only took two weeks. Riding, eating, sleeping, and talking, rinse and repeat. There was the odd occasion of dealing with infected, but they were never in large groups, and cleared out easily.
You remembered exactly where to go when you entered the city limits, guiding them towards the college campus you once lived in as a firefly. It was almost ten years ago, but you remember it pretty well. It’s where you met Tommy. Not in the lab, obviously. You’d both been put on security detail one morning, having never met beforehand. He proceeded to ‘teach you how to shoot a rifle properly, only to find you could hit a perfect bullseye on your first shot. Probably because your dad was a man who loved his guns, and you’d been shooting one since you were a kid before the outbreak. He laughed about it, and you two were friends ever since.
“Are you getting any of this?” Ellie asked you, pulling you from your thoughts as you rode alongside them.
For the last hour, Joel was attempting - and failing - to explain the rules of football to the young Miss Ellie. And she didn’t understand one lick of it, not that you blame her. You’d been to actual football games in your youth, but you couldn’t get it even then.
“Nope, I was always more of a baseball fan…” you trailed, and smiled at the thought. Baseball was fun, you remember it well. It was your biggest obsession right before ballet, and right after fingerpainting.
“Oh really, now?” Joel cut in, his surprise evident in his raised eyebrow and tilted gaze in your direction.
“Yep. You’re looking at the MVP of the Acorn’s jr. little league team.”
Ellie laughed. She didn’t know a thing about baseball either. She’d seen some old collectors cards though here and there. Apparently they used to be valuable. They were only knick knacks to anyone who saw them now.
“What position did you play?”
“Shortstop… or second base, technically. No shortstop in jr. little league,” you admitted. Your dad always called you shortstop, so that’s what you tell people now. Anyone who asks, at least. You can count on one hand the number of people who have.
“Seein’ you around infected… I bet you swung like hell,” he chuckled. Ellie was still confused about the rules of the last sport, much less how to play this one… but she listened intently because Joel was interested, so she was interested too.
“I always got on base, didn’t always stay there, but always got on. Plus, I was the only kid who never picked their nose at the plate, so… Obviously I earned my title.”
“That must’ve been an amazing accomplishment. How old were you?”
From what he understood, you’d been eight on outbreak day. You couldn’t have been too much younger to have started a sport, right?
“Probably six or seven at the time. I did ballet after, had kind of a short attention span when it came to after school activities,” you explained, a smile on your cheeks when you spoke about the things you used to love doing. You probably would still like doing some of them, had they been an option in Jackson.
“I know about ballet!” Ellie jumped in, nearly scaring Joel off the horse. “That’s the dancers that used to wear those weird shoes and shit.”
“Pointe shoes?” You chuckled, more at Joel trying to compose himself than Ellie’s funny recollection of footwear.
“Yeah, those. They looked like torture devices in some of the paintings I saw… did you ever wear any?”
“No, I would have had to train for about five more years to have gotten to that point. That was the dream at the time, to be a pointe ballerina. Of course, the end of the world happened…”
Joel turned to you from his forwards facing stare, a sadness in his eyes before he looked back onto the road ahead of him. Was that… pity? You were slowly learning to read him, his little mannerisms and tells that made him like everyone else, yet just a tad different, in a way that only he could be.
“Maybe after all this is over you can teach me some steps,” she suggested, but you scoffed.
“Maybe,” you shook your head at how funny the thought sounded in your head. You’d only danced for what? Ten months at most? And as an eight year old? “I think you’ll probably be too busy with Joel’s guitar lessons.”
She laughed it off, shaking her head and leaning it back onto Joel’s shoulder in front of her. The three of you kept along until reaching the building you remembered, but instantly it was a disappointment. The fireflies weren’t here, and likely hadn’t been for over a year.
“This isn’t right. There should be a checkpoint set up and a security blockade surrounding the place,” you mentioned, getting off your horse and running up to the door in the front. You peeked inside, and there was no sign of life anywhere.
“You’re kidding,” Ellie grumbled.
Joel dismounted the horse and followed after you, looking around and trying to find any signs that they might have been here at all.
“You sure this is the right place?”
“Positive. I remember this building, I met Tommy right over there,” you pointed down the sidewalk, where a half torn down barricade of cement was still sitting, but just barely. You walked to the corner of the crumbling stairs and grabbed a piece of old broken up brick, chucking it through the front door in order to unlock it.
Joel chuckled for a moment at your frustration, watching the scene play out.
“Baseball… right,” he teased, leading the way inside with you and Ellie in tow.
-
Maxine’s boys were at Fedra school. Her husband was at work in a different sector. Maxine herself was trading ration cards for supplies. It was the first time she’d left the apartment since you’d been there, and of all days, of all mornings for it to happen… your water broke.
You were alone, and scared. You weren’t allowed to leave the apartment for fear of the neighbor’s suspicion. Maxine’s family would be torn apart by Fedra if anyone found out what was going on, so no matter how terrified you were, you couldn’t risk going outside for help.
“Not now,” you cried, the tension in the pit of your stomach slowly turning to pain when your first contraction started. “Please, kid, I’m begging.”
You suck down against the wall of the living room, trying to find a sitting position that doesn't kill you from the pain. You wished more than anything you had some of those pain pills left over from the exchange, but they would probably only hurt you right now.
“Please, don’t,” you tried to even your breathing, the tears crawling down your cheeks at a fastening rate. “I can’t do this…”
The walls were closing in, you weren’t prepared for this. It didn’t seem to be the right time, either… but it was happening, and there was absolutely nothing you could do to stop it. The baby was coming, and if you wanted to live to see another day, you were going to have to get your head straight, and push it out of you.
You didn’t know how long you’d have, but from the time your water broke to the last contraction, things were moving relatively quickly. You were still on the ground against the wall, biting down on the sleeve of your shirt to try and not make noise.
You hoped and prayed that you would not deliver this baby on your own, but it looked like that was your only option right now. They had all left around an hour ago, they would be gone all day.
“I don’t know what to do, kid… help me out here,” you cried out again, but the baby didn’t exactly listen. You felt more weight bearing down on your lower half by the minute, and all you could do was panic.
It had happened so fast, the attack. Too fast, nothing you guys could have prepared for. It was all within minutes, and the ringing in your ears following your last gunshot seemed to put everything in slow motion. The way Ellie was yelling but you couldn’t hear it, the man that was coming up from behind you, and the one that was wrestling with Joel near the edge of the rail.
Too fast, the man on your rear grabbed at you and pulled backwards, keeping you from being able to stop Joel’s attacker… You got trapped in a headlock, a gun to your temple, and another man was about to get Ellie. Joel and his attacker broke through the railing, tumbling over the edge and falling into God knows what. You sunk deadweight in the man’s arms, letting Ellie shoot him with her raised gun before you shot the man coming for her.
She ran to the edge first, freezing as she looked down. You followed and peered over, unsure what you would see.
“Shit,” you lowered yourself to a sitting position before scooting off the edge and dropping down to where he was. Your voice was in a panic “Joel?”
He was alive, but fatally injured if you didn’t get him out of here right now.
“I’m gonna need you to pull,” he managed to get out through gritted teeth. His face was scrunched in pain, and you knew better than anyone how hard it was to stay quiet when you’re hurting that bad.
“You could bleed out,” you shook your head, kneeling down and flinging off your backpack. Digging through, you only have the most basic of supplies… nothing substantial enough to stop mass amounts of blood, or, worst case scenario, a deadly infection.
“Just pull, damnit,” he grunted, offering his hand.
By now Ellie had come down, watching in fear as the only figure of importance in her life was nearly on his deathbed. It couldn’t be exaggerated because it really was that bad. He could drop down at any moment and never get back up, but he kept pushing on.
You did as he asked, hoisting him to a stand, letting him lean on you for support. Ellie went on ahead, leading the way as she cleared the place with her own gun. You had to assist here and there, unwilling to let Ellie get shot on account of holding Joel up on his feet.
It was practically a miracle that any of you made it outside. Your horse had already taken care of a raider, it seemed, the man lying unconscious on the ground behind him. He likely got to close, touched him, even. Ellie shot the last obstacle standing between you and an escape, and once he was cleared, you mounted your horses, helping Joel onto his, first.
You rode in front of them, looking for a place to take shelter. Looking for an empty house, or gas station even. Anything would work, as long as it was safer than here. You rode for miles down the road, unsure if there were people in the area. You’d finally reached a neighborhood of substantial size, with no signs of life or proof of human activity.
But before you could even find a safe shelter…
“Joel? Joel!”
And you quickly turned around. Joel fell off the horse, out like a light.

CHAPTER 2
Not even two days were necessary for your neighbors to become a sensation at the school hallways. Rumors are quick travelers, as you told Joshua before. But you forgot to warn him about how easily they tend to blend with the truth. Especially when they linger around people with such an enigmatic aura, like Jun and Minghao. How maddening it is to know that they have so many adventurous stories to tell, but neither of them dares to share a word about them! How unfair to admire their beauty from afar, since they won’t come close enough for one to scrutinize their eyes. Locals get upset with strangers who refuse to comply with their requests...
That’s when fantasy starts to play its game.
Who are they? Orphans of neglectful parents. Why did they leave California? A girl accused Jun of leaving her pregnant but he’s actually not the father and she ruined his reputation and his life. Some people even say their parents kill themselves, but there’s no way of knowing the truth. So, what are they doing in Forks? Protecting each other. Trying to heal from generational trauma. Finding refuge. Surviving. And it is a heart-rending story. Minghao would do anything to protect his younger brother and the only reason why you’d find them separated from each other would be because of school… where Jun sits next to you.
And who are you? Of course, Cheol's friend, but they've never seen you around that much. That is probably because you used to miss the majority of your classes and now you don't because Jun is here, so you must be a gold digger. A freshman asserts he heard you and Cheol get into a fight because of Jun the other day. Another one is saying that your aunt is sick. But one of your classmates bets that, actually, she's a witch. So maybe you are one too. Who lives in the middle of the woods in plain XXI century anyway?
You never liked the attention. You neither want it, nor need it. It’s impractical in a town like Forks. So, during history class, you decide to confront your seatmate about it.
“I would like to know how you handle all this stuff, because it’s driving me crazy.” You say, assuming he will know exactly what you’re talking about. Most of the time, he does.
“Ignore them,” he advises. “They will find someone else.”
“You ignored them, they found me, how do you fix that?” you say. “They say I’m a witch.”
He chuckles. His usually petrified gesture gives up and breaks into a wide smile. You start laughing too, given the ridiculousness of the situation. Rumors are so dumb.
“Mr. Wen,” Professor Moon calls. “As you are so distended in my class, I’ll assume you know by heart all of the themes we’re talking about in this lesson. Please, enlighten us with your knowledge. Let’s go back to World War I. Maybe you can tell us why it was initiated.”
“That’s a tricky question, professor,” Jun answers, still cheerful. “But if you want a concrete answer, I’d go with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary.”
“Place and date?”
“Sarajevo. 1914.”
“You said a concrete answer. Let’s go with the wider one.”
“I’ll have to ask you to be more specific about it. What do you want me to talk about? The alliance system? Economic factors? Nationalism? I can go on all day.”
Well, well, well… If someone had told you Jun would’ve been so thrilled about playing trivia with Professor Moon, you wouldn’t believe them.
“That’s enough, kid.”
After that, he comes back to your conversation.
“You could be a witch, you know?”
“Sorry?”
Before he can say anything, Jun stops himself.
“Nothing,” he answers. “It’s a compliment.”
•••
Minghao avoids discussing the details about the night he got turned. As for most of his kind, it’s a sensitive topic; no one wants to remember the moment they lost their right to die.
He hardly discusses the topic with Jun. Primarly because his brother was the sole reason he ventured into this sick lifestyle.
After a century of consumption, it would be easy to believe that Minghao would have grown accustomed to replacing his bitter coffee with morning packs of blood, but that isn’t the truth. The heavy liquid turns his stomach the same as the first time he tasted it. However, after all these years, the feeling comes hand in hand with the pleasure of satiety and the twisted desire for it not to come from an animal, but from a palpitating neck.
An unthinkable notion that no one dares to speak out loud, leaving Minghao feeling horrible about it.
Joshua tries to reassure him. He says that, in terms of nutrients and structure, pig blood is the most similar to human blood. They’ll have to endure it for a couple of months, at least until Vernon gains the trust of the hospital staff and it becomes easier to sneak out some bags of human blood.
Minghao envies Josh’s lack of interest in human nourishment. Many times he tried to free himself from his appetite, but his instincts won every battle, obliging him to succumb to hospital blood. His instincts are stronger and also wiser than he is. Nevertheless, he tries to suppress them every chance he gets. He does so by exercising, or perhaps painting. He no longer dances because he found movement is a catalyst that, sooner or later, will make his needs erupt like a volcano. So he replaced it with painting, meditation and pottery.
Given the circumstances, his knowledge as a nurse is only a remote memory.
“Hi.”
He’s grown accustomed to suffocating his desires to the point where he completely forgot how to experience them. You, on the other hand, aren’t quite as skilled at concealing your emotions.
“You’re Minghao, right?”
Minghao answers without ceasing his task. With his upper body unclothed, you find him outside his house, leaning over his pottery wheel, his clay-stained arms embracing the wet piece as if it were a long-awaited lover. A wave of heat quickly flushes your cheeks. Your neighbor stares at you, likely curious about the reason for your interruption. He’s used to being interrupted while working. Encountering a nearly naked man in the middle of the forest isn't something you can claim to be accustomed to, on the other hand.
“Sorry for interrupting. Have you seen a white cat?” You ask, with a jar of sardines in your hand.
“Cotton ball-like fluffy, with a black spot on his left eye…”
“Sorry, I’m afraid not,” Minghao answers. “What’s his name?”
“Cat,” You say, a bit embarrassed of your thirteen years old self. “Just cat.”
“I’ll let you know if I find Cat then.”
“Great! I’ll keep looking. Thanks.”
As much as you’d love to continue chatting with Minghao about anything —truly anything— else, your lack of creativity doesn’t stop at your difficulty to name your pet. He continues working on the edges of his raw ceramic vase; fingers sticky from the wet paste he tries to stick the handles with. You don’t have the heart —nor the ideas— to interrupt him once again. And that’s when your seatmate comes to save the day.
“You’re not going anywhere, y/n,” Jun says, appearing next to you like a magician mesmerizing everyone with the trick of teleportation. “I mean… not alone. Especially with a storm coming. Where are your manners, brother?”
“Shouldn’t you be studying or something?”
“Get your ass off that wheel and help us look for the pet. One cup less isn’t gonna hurt anyone.”
“It’s a vase.”
“Honestly, I couldn’t care less.”
You thought he’d be harder to convince, but as soon as Jun orders it, his brother stops the wheel and puts on the t-shirt he was sitting on. Minghao's resistance to the cold weather impresses you. His muscles don’t even flinch at the freezing breeze coming from the north.
“A penny for your thoughts?” your neighbor teases.
“You’re so annoying.”
•••
It was a huge mistake not to get rid of that mirror the moment they got it.
There was no use for it in the middle of the living room. But there was also no reason to keep it in the basement, as Vernon had insisted. It usually wasn’t pleasant to get into a discussion with his friend. So, as he attended his interview to get a job at the town’s hospital, Joshua found himself following his orders and carrying the furniture down the stairs and to the basement.
The material it was made of felt unbelievably heavy, even for a human-fed vampire. Like Sisyphus, Joshua repeated the same routine until he reached the cellar; going down two steps, stopping abruptly, and trying to catch his breath before continuing.
When he finally reaches the ground, he understands the reason behind Seungkwan’s little present. And he’s grateful that Vernon is not there to see it.
In front of him, he finds his own image. First young, like he hadn’t seen it in more than a hundred years, and then gradually rotting until his skin starts to detach from his cheeks. So that’s the infamous Life Mirror. There are very few in the world, and Joshua never thought he’d get to see himself in one. The more you mesmerize yourself at your young image, the more crudely it’s going to show you the reality of your soul. Joshua used to believe it was just a myth from the vampire folklore. But he should’ve known better. Myths tend to be history for the immortals.
“Son of a bitch.”
That's the last straw. Joshua doesn't care about Vernon's instructions when the Boo Family's welcome was, in fact, a declaration of war—a war they're not ready to fight, nor would they be even if they wanted to. Years of weakened minds and bodies are not so easy to recover, not even with a gallon of fresh blood.
He needs to destroy that mirror before his friend comes home. But his knuckles aren’t strong enough to do it, and the hammer is near Minghao’s workspace, who’s most definitely going to be curious about the reason behind his urgency. As a temporary measure, he decides to throw an old blanket over the structure.
He needs air.
Outside, the ground shakes with the wind. Minghao is no longer at his station, yet the piece he was working on lies unfinished over the wheel. Rain will catch it any second, converting it into a liquid vestige of what could’ve been a beautiful plant vase. That’s an odd behavior from him. Where could he possibly be?
His question is quickly answered by laughter emanating from behind the lodge. Joshua follows his senses until he finds Jun and you jumping like crazy to reach one of the thickest branches of a tree.
“Stop! You’re scaring him.” You tell Jun, who insists on being the one to bring the cat back to the ground.
“Scared? No! He rubbed his head on my wrist.” Jun complains. He sounds very determined.
“Jun, Y/n is right. It’ll be better to bring a ladder. He doesn’t know you.”
“I got…I got him!”
“Wait! He’s gonna…”
Blood. Lots of it pouring from your hand. Maybe trimming your cat’s nails would’ve been a wise decision to make before throwing yourself in the territory of four very thirsty vampires. Your scent is strong, like cold pennies resting on the palm of your sweaty hands, but it is also sweet. Pig’s blood could never be that sweet. The thought of it makes Jun’s fangs start showing without him being able to notice. Minghao notices and quickly grabs your wrist. He turns you around to face him, leaving a trace of dry clay over the spot your blood flowed.
Clay and blood, intertwined.
Your heart races. Minghao's touch is both frightening and tender. He worked hard on his self-control just to be able to handle these types of situations. If you saw Jun in that state, it would be over for them.
“Are you okay?”
But now that he thinks about it, your blood smells like candy taken out of its wrapper. And it running so fast due to your nervousness releases a scent he never sensed before. One that has him dying to let go of his virtues and succumb to sin.
And Joshua notices.
“T/n! Come here, let me see.”
He rips you out of Minghao’s clutcht to check at your wound and you head inside together.
“Guys, grab the cat and come inside before it rains. T/n, does it hurt too much?”
In another scenario, you might have noticed he was trying to distract you. But right now, the spot where Minghao's hand was grabbing still feels hot and throbbing when Joshua touches your hand. It’s hard to concentrate. He gestures for you to sit on the sofa, and you comply. Not even two seconds later, he returns with a first aid kit. You can't help but contrast Minghao's firm grasp with the compassionate way Joshua is holding you while disinfecting your cut.
“You must think I’m a terrible mother,” you say, watching Joshua shake his head as he kneels in front of you to examine your hand more closely. “He’s not usually like this. I don’t know why he got so scared.”
Animals rely on their intuition. They detect danger and protect the people who love them and take good care of them. Joshua knows you’re not a terrible mother. It was Jun’s hand your cat was trying to sever.
“Don’t punish yourself,” he says. “He’s lucky to have you. It was Jun who drove him crazy.”
“He was so nice though, trying to help me,” you hiss at the strong liquid Joshua pours over your skin. “Do you think Hao is okay? His eyes went all weird when he looked at the scratch.”
“What do you mean, weird?”
“I don’t know, dark? I think it disgusted him.”
Thank goodness you think that, among all the things Minghao’s look could have made you think.
“Oh… Yes. Hao can’t stand blood. There’s no wonder he refuses to become a doctor.”
“He doesn’t need to. He’s so talented in ceramics.”
“He is. He will appreciate it if you tell him. Do you see all of the pots and vessels in the house? They’re all his work. Minghao is an artist, he’s always been.”
He truly is. The fact that the piece he was working on has already lost its shape due to the rain makes you feel sad and guilty about interrupting him. You're amazed at how your neighbor achieved most of the patterns and textures. They highlight the house, once yours, with the sparkle you thought it would never regain after your uncle’s death. It’s fascinating to realize that Minghao’s mind is so vibrant with colors.
“You don’t stay behind,” you say to Joshua, as he bandages your now disinfected hand. “Suddenly it doesn’t even hurt.”
“You are too kind,” he answers, smiling shyly while he stands on his feet. “I appreciate the compliment. But I hope I never have to display my skills on you again.”
“Sorry. I’ll pay you next time.”
It’s heartwarming to make him laugh. Before making the comment, you had a hunch that Joshua would crack a smile if you told him something along those lines. His smile is not only kind, but also genuine. It makes you wonder how many of the ones you were given before might have been only half as sincere.
“God, no, t/n,” he answers. “Please just take care of yourself.”
After a few minutes of watching the storm shake the trees, a soaking wet Jun opens the door for his brother, who enters with your cat purring in his arms. You wonder if your eyes are deceiving you. Cat is an animal of strong character and delicate temper. Yet, he sleeps like a baby in your neighbor's embrace, as if he has been charmed into tranquility.
“He liked Hao best,” Jun explains, with his hands on his waist. “I don’t care. I’m not a cat person anyways… Now, who’s making dinner?”
